the heroic Autobot trailer
:Combat Deck is a component of Autobot leader Optimus Prime from the Generation 1 continuity family.

In robot mode, Optimus Prime splits into three components:

*A sentient robot module, the Brain Center.
*A wheeled drone module known as Roller.
*A Combat Deck.

Although Optimus Prime can function as three independent modules, injury to any one module is felt by the other two.

Prime can operate by remote-control his Combat Deck module up to a distance of 1500 feet. The Auto-Launcher mounted on the deck can use a variety of artillery and radiation beam weapons, including most of those used by his fellow Autobots. The launcher also includes a highly dexterous grapple-arm which allows it to load itself and change its weaponry. The communications disk antenna mounted on the launcher provides a link between Optimus and all his fellow Autobots within a radius of 50 miles. It can be adapted to a satellite hook-up that increases its effective range tenfold. (Occasionally, though, the antenna can be replaced by a second claw, as indicated in the photo to the right.)

Unlike Roller, the Combat Deck does not possess autonomous intelligence, but it has shown several times the strange ability to come and go out of nowhere. Spooky...

When the Ark's computer was awakened by the eruption of Mount St. Hilary in 1984, it dispatched "revival drones" to reanimate the Autobots and Decepticons on board. Two of these drones bore a striking resemblance to the Combat Deck, and they were the ones that reactivated most, if not all of the Ark's passengers. The Transformers (issue)

Later, a drone assisted Ratchet in repairing the Ark. Prisoner of War!

As part of a plan to fake his own death, Optimus Prime stored a facsimile construct of himself in his trailer and went off alone. He was ambushed by Megatron and the Predacons and thrown clear of his trailer. Showing uncommon sportsmanship, Megatron gave Optimus a ten minute head start before he sent the Predacons to hunt for him. Thinking he lost them, Optimus Prime doubled back to his trailer and started to remove the facsimile. Megatron was waiting for him and fired his fusion cannon. He missed Prime's robot component but hit his trailer component, causing Prime pain. The Predacons returned and betrayed Megatron, stealing his fusion cannon and leaving him alone to fight Prime. Prime got the upper hand and Megatron opened up a space bridge to flee. Both Prime and Megatron went through, with Prime leaving behind his trailer. Prey!

On Cybertron, Prime transforms without his trailer. This confirms he left it on Earth. Under Fire!

Optimus Prime (and his trailer) drove to Energy Futures Industries. Prime transformed and left his trailer off-panel. After losing a video game, Optimus Prime's robot component was destroyed and carried away. It was not clear where the Combat Deck was at the time or what happened to it. Afterdeath!

Generation 2
Optimus Prime was back in his original body, except his trailer was black and had more weapons. Transformers: Generation 2 (Marvel)
Cartoon continuity
The Combat Deck was first used by Optimus Prime during a battle with Megatron, during which the two fired at each other at the same time. While the Combat Deck's blasts knocked Megatron's fusion cannon off his arm, Megatron's blast blew the Combat Deck cannon to pieces. This didn't seem to hurt Prime, unless he's really good at shrugging off pain. More than Meets the Eye, Part 3

Optimus Prime later used the Combat Deck to help the Autobots with a battle in the Arctic. The Combat Deck managed to damage Skywarp's stabilizers, causing him to crash into Thundercracker in midair and taking out both Seekers. Fire in the Sky

When Optimus Prime was briefly turned evil, he activated the Combat Deck and Roller to attack his fellow Autobots when they tried to help him. It didn't hit anything, and stopped firing at them as soon as it was hit with an attitude exchanger. Attack of the Autobots

Although it didn't fully appear, the Combat Deck's arm can be clearly seen lifting the body of the ailing Elita One into Prime's Trailer. The Search for Alpha Trion
IDW comics continuity
When the Autobots arrived in the former Russian state of Brasnya, Optimus Prime deployed the Combat Deck for remote tactical assistance. Escalation issue 3 It detected the optically camouflaged Blitzwing, enabling Roller to take the Decepticon out of commission. Escalation issue 4

After being savagely beaten by Megatron, Optimus Prime funneled his consciousness into the memory buffers of the Combat Deck and commanded the Autobots through Prowl from there. After Megatron assumed victory, Optimus moved his higher functions back into his body and showed Megatron the error of his ways. Escalation issue 6
**Accessories: 4 missiles, fuel pump, hose, nozzle

:The trailer portion of Optimus Prime's vehicle mode opens up into his Combat Deck, splitting down the middle and unfolding into a symmetrical battlefield headquarters for Prime and the Autobots, wide enough to accommodate one vehicle-mode Autobot car in each of its three bays. The central feature of the Combat Deck is the "artillery robot" mounted upon a boom lift arm, which features a rotating radar dish, an articulated claw arm, and two missiles. Situated at the base of this boom arm is a spring-loaded launcher that can be used to deploy either Roller or any Autobot car out of the Combat Deck via the ramp formed from the trailer's tailgate. The Combat Deck includes three small peg holes moulded into its walls and floor, scaled to accommodate Optimus Prime's laser rifle (storing it while the figure is in vehicle mode) and the handle of the fuel pump accessory.

:In trailer mode, the Combat Deck can accommodate one Autobot car (if you remove Roller), and the launcher still functions. The artillery robot can still be used in this mode, as it fits through either of the two square holes in the trailer's roof and front. The Transformers release of the figure does not mention the Combat Deck's rudimentary "third" mode, a "repair bay" of sorts, which involves standing the open trailer upright while Prime stands in the middle, so the artillery robot can "tend" to him. The Prime figure can also fit within the closed trailer.

:As a former Diaclone toy, the Combat Deck features several vestigial features associated with that toyline, including two small, dark blue consoles on its floor, and an opening cockpit on the artillery robot, which can each seat one Diaclone pilot figure. Instead of stickers, the floor of the Combat Deck originally featured large metal plates, to which the Diaclone pilots' magnetic feet could attach. These plates were included on some of the earliest releases of the Transformers version of the toy, but were soon done away with.

:The artillery robot is also the subject of several significant variations. Its missiles were customarily black, but slightly smaller grey versions were available. The original Transformers release of the figure did not feature spring-loaded launchers for these missiles, but subsequent Japanese editions of the toy included the feature. When Hasbro reissued the figure in its Generation One Commemorative Series, the launchers were enabled, necessitating that the missiles be lengthened for safety reasons.

:When the Optimus Prime mold is recolored or reissued (see this list for all those times), the Combat Deck is almost always included with it. Significant changes in the appearance of the Combat Deck included its being decorated with Pepsi stickers for a limited promotional edition, and being recolored black for Generation 2 in 1993 and JAFCON in 2000.

Generation 2
* Optimus Prime (1993, 1994)

:The first Generation 2 Optimus Prime toy was largely identical in sculpt to the original Generation 1 figure release. While his cab robot retained his original red and blue color scheme, his trailer was recast in black, with the original blue and silver striped sticker replaced with a red and silver one displaying Optimus's name. The traditionally dark blue internal components of the trailer are a lighter blue. He comes with an electronic "sound and lights module" that can plug into the front of the trailer.
:The Combat Deck was available separately from the Optimus cab toy as a shortpacked figure. It is a tiny, simplified replica of the Generation 1 Combat Deck.
:This version of Optimus comes with a highly detailed Combat Deck, featuring all the familiar trappings of the original toy, including the artillery robot, Roller, and storage space for Prime's gun and fuel pump. The toy lacks the spring-loaded launcher for Roller or the firing missiles for the artillery robot, and the vestigal Diaclone cockpits are naturally removed, but in their place are storage compartments for Prime's numerous fists and energon axe, and numerous other extra features: the artillery robot now features two handles that Prime can grip onto in order to aim its cannons; instead of merely flipping downward, the trailer's tailgate splits in two and swings open, and a spring-loaded ramp pops out from under the doorway to allow Roller to roll into action; the fuel pump and nozzle are connected by a poseable wire, instead of a rubber tube; when the trailer is opened, the support struts swing out automatically; and the front of the trailer has two little holes to attach Sideswipe's jet pack.

Notes
<!--*The combat deck is at the origin of one of the oldest and most asked question among the fans. And no, we still don't know where it goes...-->
*In the cartoon, when Optimus Prime transforms into robot mode, the combat deck disappears, only to reattach itself to Prime whenever he goes into vehicle mode. According to an early Japanese catalog circa 1985, after Optimus Prime transforms into robot mode, the trailer is teleported to the base via a special signal.<!--
The following might need some reworking to fit in the whole paragraph:
** Some fan theories about this disappearance is that Prime stores the trailer in subspace. IDW comics gives a nod to this, by having the trailer arrive at Prime's location using the orbital jump.-->
**The Marvel G1 Comic generally kept better track of Prime's trailer. If he didn't bring it with him, he would transform without it. It seemed to pop in and out in the G2 comic, though.
*The Combat Deck was referred to as Autobot Headquarters in several different sources.
Drift (ドリフト Dorifuto) was not always an Autobot. In fact, he slaughtered quite a few when he was known as the Decepticon Deadlock. But Deadlock's eyes were opened to what the Transformers' war had become when he stumbled across a lost faction of neutral Transformers long since forgotten. He discarded his ruthless ways, abandoned his guns for swords, and changed his name and appearance.

When Drift returned to the Transformer war to make right what he put wrong, he was a bot of few words and disciplined action. Because of his brutal past, Drift isn't well-liked or trusted by a few of the Autobots. The rest don't seem to care, so long as his skills are used against the other side!

In addition to the two swords kept in his hip scabbards, Drift carries a legendary Great Sword. An ancient weapon that predates modern civilization, the Great Sword draws upon the spark energy of its bearer, and as such must only be used in the most dire of circumstances.
Drift was originally a homeless Cybertronian, living on the streets and stealing energon to survive. The hopeless 'bot was befriended by Gasket, but when Gasket was killed by Autobot law enforcement after trying to stop them from executing a thief, Drift exploded with rage, grabbed the nearest gun and killed them all. Drift's knack for violence attracted the attention of the Cybertronian underground, who trained Drift as a killer. Amongst this group, Drift realized the level of corruption in the Senate, and a recruitment rally held by Megatron drew Drift in with his talk of equality. Megatron singled Drift out of the crowd, claiming to have heard great things of him, and asked him to join the Decepticons to fight for a better Cybertron. Drift agreed and, after being was hailed by the crowd, was renamed Deadlock by Megatron. Drift issue 2 Drift rose to become the second-in-command of Turmoil, garnering a reputation as a vicious and merciless fighter.
Much later, on an unknown planet, Deadlock led a battalion against an Autobot squadron. The Autobots' leader called a retreat, and Deadlock's team celebrated. This was spoiled when one of the soldiers pointed out that Deadlock had been ordered to merely observe, and once again had disobeyed orders. When the soldier threatened to inform Turmoil of Deadlock's disobedience, Deadlock killed him. Claiming Turmoil was too cautious and that it was time for new leadership, he called for the other soldiers to follow him, but they summarily captured him and brought him to Turmoil. Turmoil used a stasis lock to trap him in robot mode and attempted to execute him. Deadlock managed to escape, and after initiating an emergency protocol to cover his escape, stole an escape pod and departed the ship.

Deadlock crashed on an unknown planet. After scaling some, he found a massive structure, but before he could explore, a mysterious cloaked figure appeared, named Wing. Wing offered a deal: help him free the slaves, and he would find Deadlock a ship. Deadlock, introducing himself as "Drift," agreed, but first Drift said he needed guns. Together, they jumped some guards and stole their weapons, however a stray blast stripped Wing of his cloak, revealing him to be Cybertronian. Once they jumped into the complex, Drift automatically fled for the ship, abandoning Wing. Despite this betrayal, when Drift was attacked and nearly killed by one the slavers, Wing brought Drift back with him to a new Crystal City, where he was repaired. Drift issue 1

Wing explained that they were the Circle of Light, a group of Cybertronian scholars and scientists who abandoned the planet during the early days of the war in order to find peace and preserve Cybertron's culture. Wing and Drift were taken to a meeting with Crystal City's leader, Dai Atlas. While Drift waited outside, Wing was admonished for bringing a corrupting influence to the city. He was ordered to keep Drift with him at all times. Afterward, Wing brought Drift to an empty room, discarded his swords and asked him what the Decepticon symbol stood for. Drift replied it meant strength, power and conviction, and the belief in the survival of the strongest. Wing offered Drift a chance to earn his freedom by defeating him without guns in combat, but Drift never succeeded. Drift grumbled that he'd never learned to fight without projectile weaponry.

Weeks later, Wing was still dominating Drift. Over time, Drift admitted that Crystal City held everything Drift had ever wanted, while the Decepticons had lost sight of this goal some time ago. Their sparring was interrupted by a summons from Dai Atlas. When they arrived in the control room, he informed them that they had received a coded signal and he thought Drift might be able to translate. Though Drift claimed he could not understand it, that night he snuck out of the city and drove far into the desert. There he met with the slavers, who had used a Decepticon code to offer Drift a deal. The code had been obtained from Lockdown, a Decepticon sent by Megatron. The deal was simple: hand over the location of the Circle of Light or die. Drift issue 2

Lockdown reminded "Deadlock" of his high-standing in the Decepticon army. Megatron held Deadlock in high esteem, and by guarding these Transformers Drift stood to lose that. Meanwhile, the head slaver, Braid, required Cybertronian bodies to experiment on, and were willing to take captives from the neutral camp in lieu of Deadlock, in payment for the property he'd damaged earlier. After agreeing to lead the neutral Transformers into an ambush, Drift stumbled back to Crystal City, where he informed the Circle of Light about the pact he'd made with Lockdown and the slavers. Drift argued that they should fight their attackers to preserve their freedom and their way of life, but Dai Atlas sharply disagreed. He would have no fighting at all, even to preserve his own life, and blamed Drift for ruining their civilization. The others did not agree, and supported Drift. A small number of them offered to help fight the slavers while keeping the true number of their population unknown. As they reached the surface with a hastily constructed craft to make it appear as if the Circle of Light had recently crashed there, Drift revealed himself to have been rebuilt head-to-toe to match his new colleagues. With a sword mounted on each hip, Drift announced he was ready. Drift issue 3

Soon, Lockdown and the slavers were upon them. After slaying a few of the slavers, Drift realized that he was past the point of no return. Lockdown realized this as well, and asked the former Decepticon why he'd given it all away so easily. "What I've always wanted... the promise of a better Cybertron." But their sparring was interrupted by the death of Wing. Enraged, Drift jumped Braid, Wing's murderer, but he did not accomplish much. He was not as agile a fighter as his late friend, and Braid easily defeated him.

Before the killing blow could be delivered, Crystal City in its entirety rose from the ground, as Wing's death had spurred Dai Atlas into action. With the entirety of the population now fighting the slavers, the tide was quickly turned. Despite his injuries, Drift slew Braid with his Great Sword, while Lockdown, startled at Drift's transformation, cut his losses and left. Though the Circle of Light asked Drift to stay with them, Drift reminded them that he'd promised Wing to return the freed slaves to their homes. Drift was given Wing's Great Sword and given their blessing. Drift issue 4

Some time after leaving Crystal City and returning the slaves, Drift set off to make a difference in the Autobot/Decepticon Civil War. First, he attempted to free a group of Autobots held captive on the ship he'd previously served aboard. Upon entering Turmoil's ship, his attempt at stealth was successful until the Wreckers arrived and blasted their way aboard. Jumping into the battle to assist them, he piqued the interest of a few Autobots. Perceptor was injured as Turmoil entered the battle and, recognizing Drift's voice as that of his former lieutenant, attempted to destroy him. However, his attack only resulted in knocking Drift and Kup to another room. The two quickly worked together to program the ship to overload. In his final confrontation with Turmoil, Drift stated his intention was to help, not kill, and left to rescue Perceptor before the ship blew up.

After his arrival on the Autobot ship, Kup invited Drift to join his new unit as an Autobot. Spotlight: Drift

Now a crew member of the spacecraft Trion, Drift got to know his new teammate Blurr over many friendly games of Go. Perceptor felt he owed a debt to Drift for saving his life, and so devoted much of his time to upgrading himself for more combat-oriented tasks. While Kup discouraged this, Drift stoically accepted Perceptor's new ambitions. All Hail Megatron issue 15#"Lost & Found"

They were soon baited into a Decepticon ambush over Cybertron. The Trions command codes were hacked due to their being sold to the Decepticons by an Autobot traitor, and, left defenseless, it was forced to crash-land on the desolate landscape of the planet. Eventually, the crew were found by Optimus Prime's unit, who unfortunately proved to be also stranded. When Mirage was revealed by Jazz to have been standing invisibly among them, Drift was the only one who didn't appear surprised. All Hail Megatron issue 5

When an advance scout of the Insecticon Swarm discovered the Autobots' base camp, Drift was dispatched to take care of it. Drift stood stock-still as the creature walked up to him, greeting it with a simple, smirking "hello" as the monstrous beast snarled in his face. Finally, he beheaded the scout with a single wave of his sword. A second creature tried to attack Drift from behind, but the smirking Autobot merely tilted his head slightly, allowing Perceptor to kill the beast with some precision sniping. Cliffjumper thought the incident was the coolest thing ever. All Hail Megatron issue 6

After Sunstreaker revealed to Ironhide that he was the traitor, an army of the Swarm came after them. Drift saved Ironhide while Sunstreaker blew up a bridge, killing himself and the Swarm army. Later, Drift visited Ironhide and claimed that the Decepticons had access to the Autobots' systems in a way that Sunstreaker couldn't possibly have. Ironhide asked if this meant there was a second traitor, but Drift replied that there was simply more to the situation than they knew. All Hail Megatron issue 8

When Mirage was showing some doubt in the Autobot cause, it was Drift who said that, now more than ever, the Autobots should continue being who they are. Bumblebee insinuated that Drift had no right to say something like that, which started an argument that was only stopped by the return of Optimus Prime. All Hail Megatron issue 9

[[Image:Thundercracker Drift.jpg|right|230px|thumb|"Another of your ill-timed jokes, Drift??"
"... You and I are enemies now."]]

Drift took part in the battle against the Swarm and joined the others in escaping Cybertron in Omega Supreme. All Hail Megatron issue 10. On Earth, he battled the Decepticons, and when Thundercracker volunteered to divert the humans' nuclear bomb, Drift attempted to congratulate his former comrade on seeing the light. Thundercracker called him a traitor, slapping Drift's hand away and claiming he was merely following the Decepticons' true ideal. All Hail Megatron issue 12

Two years later, Drift was still with the Autobots, hiding on Earth. ...For All Mankind After Optimus Prime left the Autobots, Drift decided to stay with the larger group, rather than leave with Rodimus and his fellow defectors. Drift celebrated Bumblebee's election with numerous other Autobots. The Hanging Sword

At some point Drift traveled to Japan and did some drift racing all by himself. Drift issue 4

Drift was among the Autobots who confronted Galvatron and his troops when they crashed their ship in Las Vegas, bringing with them a zombie invasion. The Transformers: Infestation issue 1 The Autobots and Decepticons worked together to banish the zombies to the Dead Universe, though Drift himself really just stood silently in the background the whole time. The Transformers: Infestation issue 2

Drift listened to Wheelie tell tales of, presumably, his time in space and accompanied Optimus Prime and many others to Cybertron aboard Omega Supreme's rocket form. Space Opera—Final Tableaux: Orphans of the Helix Along the way, he and many others tried to listen in on a conversation between Optimus Prime and a captive Megatron. Chaos Theory Part 1 Later, Drift accompanied Optimus, Hot Rod, Ironhide, Sunstreaker, and Cliffjumper to Cybertron to confront Galvatron and his army. After a brief skirmish with Galvatron's forces, the landing party returned to the Autobot landing zone. As Drift pointed out that maybe Galvatron was telling the truth and he had been assembling his army for a reason, the Autobots were bathed in a red light... Chaos Part One: Lamentations

-Which turned out to be a blast from the orbiting space station Kimia, recently commandeered by Galvatron's forces. Optimus Prime handed out orders to combat this new threat, telling Drift and Sunstreaker to establish a base of operations. After the threat of Kimia had ended, Omega Supreme's rocket landed at this base-camp and Rodimus and Drift set out after Optimus Prime and Ironhide, who had left to locate Galvatron. Chaos Part Two: Numbers

At the crater that Kimia's main weapon had blown into the surface of the planet, Drift accompanied Optimus and the others underground. The Autobots finally intercepted Galvatron and Jhiaxus and Optimus Prime demanded their surrender. Galvatron claimed that the core of Cybertron had to be destroyed to save the universe, revealing the glowing Heart of Darkness within his chest. At this, Drift began spouting gibberish and attacking his comrades in a maddened state, allowing for Galvatron and Jhiaxus to escape. The others attempted to restrain him, but Drift summoned what free will he had left and impaled himself on one of his own blades, much to Ironhide's horror. While Drift survived this, Ironhide told Prime that they'd have to evacuate him immediately for medical attention. Chaos Part Three: Kings

Optimus Prime's return to Autobot camp three weeks later brought the discovery of a map inscribed inside the Matrix of Leadership. Drift was consumed with the idea that the map gave directions to Cyberutopia, the home of the Knights of Cybertron. Despite Prowl's insistence that the Knights of Cybertron never existed, Drift maintained that he had heard all about the Knights of Cybertron from Dai Atlas, and that the stories were true. Drift's passion for this discovery inspired Rodimus to assemble a team to leave the planet and find the Knights of Cybertron. Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime

At some point, Drift shed his Earth mode and took a more sleek, Cybertronian form for himself. Rodimus tasked himself with recruiting as many Autobots as he could to take offplanet and find the Knights of Cybertron. He was very good at working a crowd, though admittedly Drift wrote all of his speeches. After boarding their new craft, the Lost Light, Drift had counted 208 total Autobots on board. (He also complimented Rodimus's latest speech.) Drift asked why Ultra Magnus appeared displeased (more than usual) with the crew, and Ultra Magnus revealed that he felt most of them were practically criminals. (Drift himself was under high suspicion, though Ultra Magnus didn't say this out loud.) As launch was underway, Drift continued to act as Rodimus's right-hand man, and moments before takeoff, Drift brought to his attention the "weapon of mass destruction" Ratchet had apparently brought on board.

But something went wrong, and the ship quantum jumped before it was ready, placing the ship somewhere random in space, just over a planet. A tear in the hull was expelling Autobots into space, and as the ship stabilized, Drift named off the Autobots they'd lost. Liars, A to D Part 1: How to Say Goodbye and Mean It
Drift was Optimus Prime's friend and always let his actions speak louder than words. When the Autobots arrived on Earth, he hid himself in a lake. Upon Optimus's order, he transformed into his car mode to roll out. Later, when the Decepticons attacked, he pushed Starscream over a tripwire held by some of the Autobots' human allies. I Am Optimus Prime (Robot Heroes)
It can also be stored (in robot mode) in the doors where the windows fold up. Behind his windshield kibble is his pre-Earth chest design, in a nod to the form Drift had been seen in almost exclusively at the time of the toy's unveiling. Due to his ball jointed wrists, Drift is one of the few Transformers figures that can hold a sword with a two-handed grip. Left unmentioned in the instructions is that the clip that holds his large sword is on a small concealed arm that allows the sword to move away from his back and out of the way of his legs and shoulders. Drift's swords are made from a kid-friendly flexible material, and therefore care must be taken to avoid warping. * Commenting on what inspired him to create Drift, writer/creator Shane McCarthy said that "I wanted a character in AHM that had a particular element to him that I didn't see readily available elsewhere and secondly because, frankly, I thought it would be a great idea for Hasbro to have an Autobot Drift racer." He later said he wanted to show what'd happen if a former Decepticon became an Autobot. Drift's Japanese overtones are meant to be a tip of the hat "to the country that gave birth to [Transformers]."
* As you might have guessed from some of the captions on this page, Drift is a fairly unpopular character among certain parts of the fandom. Basically, he's frequently viewed as a stereotypical badass fan-created character with Japanese samurai/ninja stereotypes added in for maximum awesomeness. The main reason given by fans for their criticism, however, is the initial hype the character was given by its creator and IDW, which fans believe created a massive hype backlash for the reasons listed above. Many fans think that while Drift's actual fictional appearances aren't nearly as bad as the most vocal critics make him out to be, he certainly fails to live up to the hype.
:Sentinel Prime is a jerk and an Autobot from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Many times, brash, leap-before-you-think types learn a lesson from their misadventures, and use that knowledge to grow into more mature, well-rounded fighters, even into leadership roles.

And sometimes, they learn the wrong lesson (or the right lesson the wrong way), and turn out like Sentinel Prime.

Sentinel was once the impulsive type, until a disastrous "unsanctioned" mission he'd suggested with his best friends Optimus Prime and Elita-1 ended in the loss of Elita. Though both bots carried the grief, Sentinel blamed Optimus for abandoning her. When Optimus officially took the blame for the mission (and Sentinel failed to speak up for his part of it), Sentinel placed all his anger on his former friend, and drove himself to climb the Autobot ranks into the Cybertron Elite Guard through strict adherence to military protocol.

The end result is an Autobot who could be one of the Autobots' greatest assets, but he's such a jerk that it's hard to see how. His expandable Skyboom Shield is virtually impenetrable, and he's a strong combatant and utterly tenacious hunter. And he seems to have Cybertron's best interests at heart... but his perception of "best interests" is definitely skewed.

To his core, he's still the same smug, act-first-think-later-maybe bot he was before, only far more focused. Despite the "stickler for the rules" aspect of his personality that has come from the loss of Elita, he seems to use the rules largely to bully his way of doing things on others. He really can't handle the unexpected, thanks to a distinct lack of genuine field experience and inability to improvise like others in the Guard. Thanks to that one fateful trip to Archa Seven, he has a severe phobia of organics, and a burning desire to further humiliate Optimus. To his credit, he would never actively sabotage another Autobot... but he sure will make their lives a living hell if he thinks he can get away with it.

Don't mention his chin. He's a little touchy about it.

[Sentinel] is a glitch-head. All due respect.

Sentinel was named and trained in Autobot boot camp by the drill sergeant Kup, which is also where he met Optimus and Elita-1. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II During their studies, Elita and Sentinel observed Optimus battle Megatron in a virtual training program. Sentinel sneered when Optimus ultimately failed, but Ultra Magnus noted that Optimus had scored better than any Autobot thus far. Survival Skills

Sentinel took Optimus and Elita-1 on a mission to Archa Seven looking for an old Decepticon warship, hoping to get all the energon stored within. However, they ran into a pack of massive arachnids. Sentinel tried to hold them off long enough for Optimus and Elita to escape. When he came across a ship that Optimus and Elita had found, Optimus had to drag him away from the exploding energon, forcing them to leave Elita-1 behind. Optimus's radar couldn't find Elita's energy signature, and he assumed that she was dead. A furious Sentinel blamed Optimus for what happened, even though this whole disaster had been his idea. Jerk. Along Came a Spider When Ultra Magnus brought the two up on a military tribunal, Optimus gallantly took the fall — while Sentinel just stood there smirking. Endgame, Part I

After graduation from the Academy, he received an official rank as Sentinel Minor, the drill officer for an Autobot training camp. Obviously compensating for being a jerk, he took out his frustrations on recruits like Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ironhide, Longarm and Wasp. Busting their transistors at every turn, he liked to conduct surprise inspections and force the recruits to chant that they were worthless grease stains. Of course, in Bumblebee's case, the extra attention was not exactly unmerited, as the little glitch-head managed to get Sentinel's feelings on whether Ultra Magnus should retire from command broadcast across the camp. In the end, he commended Bumblebee for his role in discovering a seeming Decepticon traitor. Then Bumblebee admitted to accidentally knocking a tower on him (actually covering for Bulkhead), and Sentinel gave him the boot. Autoboot Camp

Years later, he was still a jerk, but a jerk with prestige, having been promoted to Sentinel Prime. When Optimus Prime rang up the Cybertron Elite Guard to tell them of the Decepticons in pursuit, he sneered that a screw-up like Optimus wasn't worth the attention of Ultra Magnus. Seeing a piped-through visual of the AllSpark from the cargo hold of their ship shut him up quickly enough. Transform and Roll Out

After the ship was lost, Sentinel found himself the only one who knew Optimus well enough to give him a eulogy. However, while his words were reasonably civil, his thoughts were not. Later, when Longarm pressed him to continue the search, Sentinel acted like an old man and told him some things are best left buried. Dispatches

Later, the Elite Guard visited Earth to reclaim the AllSpark. When Jazz decided to take a closer look at the humans, Sentinel warned that organics could spew out slime that melts through armor plating, deliberately goading Optimus Prime with memories of Elita-1's fate. He decontaminated Optimus Prime's crew after setting a force field around the ship. When he heard that they'd defeated Megatron and the Decepticons, he didn't believe Optimus, almost causing a fight between him and Bulkhead. Sentinel boasted to Ultra Magnus that he had taken the initiative and scanned some "typical" Earth vehicles so they would not draw undue attention. He had, in fact, scanned massive, destructive vehicles for them both.

En route to Dinobot Island, Sentinel further evidenced how subtlety obviously isn't his strong point by driving through a blockade and off an overpass still under construction. When he, Optimus and Magnus arrived, they encountered the Dinobots, and Sentinel began to attack, believing their technology was primitive. Grimlock's subsequent transformation caught him off guard. They then went back to the city to take care of malfunctioning police drones. Sentinel started to act like a jerk again, more worried about organic contamination, and vowed to see Optimus arraigned on charges of high treason, but Optimus had got enough of Sentinel's mouth and finally told him off, asserting that his former friend was on his turf now and should respect Optimus's decisions. Unsurprisingly, Sentinel was unmoved. Even when shown proof of the AllSpark not being destroyed, Sentinel's attitude did not change. He was thus rather surprised when Ultra Magnus said that Optimus had characteristics that Sentinel himself could stand to learn. The Elite Guard

Not taking the criticism to heart at all, he continued to be a general jerk to Optimus, the local police, humans, and pretty much everyone. His comeuppance would soon come in the form of a humiliating body-jacking by the Headmaster. Putting his reputation (and his noggin) in Optimus Prime's hands, he trusted his comrade to help him get his body back without letting anybody else find out. In this state, he was slightly less condescending to Optimus, but it was hard to talk down to someone when reduced to a tenth his size. He still had choice words about Optimus's actions in the process of saving his body, however, such as ripping its arm off and using his head as a soccer ball. Deep down, Optimus was enjoying himself.

After recovering his body, Sentinel had to face the embarrassing prospect of reporting to Ultra Magnus, but surprisingly enough, Optimus covered for him. It took every ounce of effort for the big guy to utter a "thank you" to his comrade later.

While in the Headmaster's possession, Sentinel's body's weapons were upgraded into more powerful forms. At the moment, it's not clear whether Sentinel got to keep the upgrades when the Headmaster Unit was separated. The Return of the Headmaster

Unfortunately, the whole Headmaster debacle still failed to purge Sentinel of even a dram of his jerk quotient. When Optimus protested Ultra Magnus's decision to have his crew join the rest of the Autobots off-Earth, Sentinel was quick to jump on Optimus, saying that no sign of Decepticon activity had been detected (failing to consider that the Decepticons had been dampening their signals). He even went so far as to bribe Optimus with an offer of reinstatement in the Elite Guard if he went along with the official story. Through all this, he was more than slightly keen to slap stasis cuffs on Optimus in order to get him to comply with Magnus's orders.

When the Elite Guard's ship detected an AllSpark fragment in a runaway passenger train (actually a trap set by Starscream), Sentinel was irritated to find that he had to stay behind and nursemaid "Maintenance Prime" while Ultra Magnus and Jazz set off to investigate. The situation got worse when, discovering Decepticon presence, Optimus goaded Sentinel into a blind attack and took the opportunity to slap the stasis cuffs on him. Poor sap... (snicker)

Sentinel eventually worked his way out of the cuffs and pursued Optimus to where the AllSparked train had stopped, threatening to have him tried and blacklisted for assaulting an Elite Guard, dismissing out of hand Optimus's justification of Decepticon involvement. Fortunately for Optimus, Megatron and Blitzwing chose that moment to blast Starscream to the ground in front of the Autobots.

Sentinel had to take more time than the other Elite Guards to rally; unlike Magnus and Optimus, he had never seen a Decepticon before. Initial dismay aside, Sentinel did manage to last longer than the other Autobots against Starscream's onslaught, but the only reason he didn't fall was that Optimus took the stasis cuffs Sentinel had brought with him (anticipating Optimus's formal arrest as he was) and slapped them onto Starscream. Sentinel still thought Optimus drew out that battle on purpose.

Afterwards, Magnus expressed admiration over Optimus's willingness to disregard what were clearly ill-informed orders—praise to which Sentinel, predictably, objected. This just earned him another chastisement from Magnus about how sometimes the right thing was to trust one's gut over the book. Shortly afterward, the Elite Guard departed for Cybertron. Sentinel could probably sigh in relief—no more looking worse than the "washout". Mission Accomplished

Unfortunately, while the Elite Guard was in deep space, Starscream managed to escape his stasis cuffs and get out of the their ship. Being the jerk he is, Sentinel probably thinks Optimus is responsible for that happening. A Fistful of Energon

Things only got worse for Sentinel, as his former trainee and convicted "traitor" Wasp escaped from prison. Pursuing the former Autobot across an asteroid field, Sentinel had a standoff with Wasp at a space bridge relay point. The escapee activated the space bridge, and, blinded by its energies, Sentinel assumed Wasp had gone through it to parts unknown. In reality, Wasp had mustered what little cunning his shattered mind had left and faked out the Elite Guard member by hiding behind the archway. As usual, Sentinel's deductive skills left something to be desired, so he returned to base. Autoboot Camp

Later, Sentinel, Magnus and Jazz took the Elite Guard's flagship to back up Rodimus Prime's team, who were defending space bridge 687-030 from a Decepticon raiding party. As the Elite Guard arrived, however, Megatron ordered all of his troops to withdraw, having changed his plans thanks to a recent acquisition. After returning to Cybertron, Sentinel and Jazz were ordered back into space to hunt down the "traitor" Wasp. TransWarped

Upon arriving in Earth orbit, Sentinel was contacted by an agitated Longarm Prime. Now head of Autobot Intel, Longarm was upset that Sentinel's ship had entered Earth Sector when Longarm had ordered that all contact with Earth be filtered through him first. Sentinel was annoyed, since Longarm had sent them to intercept Wasp in the first place. After Ultra Magnus cut in to explain, Sentinel confirmed for Longarm that no one had heard from Optimus Prime's crew in at least a decacycle.

Upon touchdown near Detroit, Sentinel was disgusted with yet another aspect of Earth: rain. He quickly proved he had no ability to handle rain-soaked pavement in vehicle mode, further bruising his ego. With their other crew members already dispatched to hunt for Wasp, he and Jazz arrived at the Earth Autobots' base just after Wasp (actually Bumblebee in a forced disguise) had departed from there. Sentinel was all for chewing out Optimus for not answering his comlink, and he didn't care about Optimus's "excuses", as he had a fugitive spy to catch. It didn't help that Optimus pointed out said spy had just slipped past Sentinel, then claimed that Longarm was the real spy. Disgusted with such a brazen, baseless accusation, Sentinel ordered Prime's group to stay out of his way, then he and Jazz departed. Jerk.

Eventually, he found Prime and Ratchet battling his new recruits, Jetstorm and Jetfire, whom they'd mistaken for Decepticons since the new pair could fly. Sure, he hadn't told Prime about them before, but that was Prime's fault for butting in on Elite Guard business. Prime still insisted Wasp wasn't a double agent, but Sentinel would hear none of it and ordered the jet twins to find Wasp again. While he struggled to avoid skidding on the pavement and keep pace with Jazz, Optimus and Ratchet, he got word from Jetstorm that he and Jetfire had found Wasp, but that Bulkhead and Prowl were apparently his cohorts. Prime continued attempting to persuade him that he was on the wrong track, but Sentinel was all for arresting everyone and letting Ultra Magnus sort it out.

Back at the Earth Autobots' base, "Bumblebee" tried to prove his identity by recounting the various ways he'd inconvenienced Sentinel during 'Bee's stint in boot camp—most of which Sentinel didn't remember. Sentinel quickly got fed up and ordered "Wasp" wheeled out, but then Bulkhead hit upon a sure-fire way to tell who was who: a versus round of Bumblebee's latest video game passion, Ninja Gladiator. Despite Sentinel's doubts, the real Wasp quickly revealed himself, taking 'Bee hostage and escaping. Jazz realized the full import of this revelation: The true Decepticon double agent was the head of Autobot Intel. Sentinel protested that Prime should have told him this in the first place. Where Is Thy Sting?

Remaining on Earth, Sentinel made contact with the bounty hunter Lockdown for a mutually beneficial arrangement: if Sentinel supplied him with parts from the Elite Guard ship, Lockdown would turn over Decepticons to Sentinel and let him take the credit. His ego overriding his sense of superiority, Sentinel agreed, bringing the captured Decepticons and taking all the credit. Only the twins believed that Sentinel was really making the captures alone, especially as Sentinel was both vague and defensive about how he captured the Decepticons. Finally, Lockdown needed a gyrostabilizer from the ship, in exchange for the Liar Starscream. Prowl followed Sentinel, and discovered the arrangement, but was betrayed by Lockdown and the clone, and placed in stasis cuffs. Despite using Sentinel as a hostage, the Autobots showed little restraint in attacking, even though they only succeeded in hurting Sentinel. The battle ended with Sentinel being driven into the ground head first. After establishing contact with Cybertron, the Autobots learned that Ultra Magnus had been attacked by Shockwave, but was recovering. Optimus decided not to inform Cybertron Command of Sentinel's misconduct, but instead gave sole credit for the captures to Prowl. Even though he wasn't going to be court-martialled, Sentinel was still displeased that he didn't get a single ounce of credit. Annoyed, Optimus reminded him that there were more important things than his ego, but gave Sentinel fair warning: when smoke clears, there will be a reckoning. Five Servos of Doom

Even knowing Wasp was innocent, Sentinel continued to pursue the 'bot, leading to a chase through the streets of Detroit as Optimus and Bumblebee attempted to reach him first. When they did, a jurisdictional argument between Optimus and Sentinel allowed Wasp to slip away... only for him to be flown away by a a Dinobot. Despite Optimus warning Sentinel off, Sentinel pursued them to Dinobot Island under Safeguard in his own... unique... manner.

Bulling past the Dinobots, Sentinel entered the laboratory inside... to be confronted by what Elita-1 had become, and the experiment she was undertaking on Wasp. Blackarachnia's existence as a technorganic disgusted him to the deepest core of his spark, and he wished she had gone offline on Archa Seven. In return, after the emergence of the technorganic "Waspinator", she attempted to drain him dry. He was saved by a pursuing Optimus, and shortly afterward Blackarachnia was transwarped to apparent oblivion by the exploding Waspinator. Sentinel walked off without a word.

As he was set for departure to Cybertron to take his place as acting Magnus, he discussed what had happened with Optimus, and admitted that they should never have gone to the spider-planet in the first place. Predacons Rising

On the trip back to Cybertron, after a failed interrogation of the Decepticon prisoners, he was contacted by Perceptor, Alpha Trion and Cliffjumper, to inform him that the Autobot High Council intended to make the news of the attack on Ultra Magnus public. Sentinel was unhappy about this, but they reminded him that the decision was for the full Council to make, and that his "taking control" as acting Magnus was premature, since Ultra Magnus was still online, albeit on spark support; and Cliffjumper wound him up further by reminding him that Prowl, not SP, had been given credit for the capture of the Decepticon prisoners. As a result, he took his frustrations out on Jazz, ordering him to take the Steelhaven to full power—even after Jazz reminded him it would use up all their energon—and to steer through a stormy nebula. Jerk.

The effect of the electrical storms on the ship then caused Swindle to be freed of his transformation lock, and in turn he freed the other prisoners. They then attacked the bridge, and with Sentinel refusing to contact Cybertron and let them know what his mistake had wrought, he sent a coded message to Optimus Prime, asking for help shortly before they were all captured. Optimus then transwarped in through Swindle's personal storage dimension, refused to obey a single order from Sentinel, thought up a plan to defeat the Decepticons and set Jazz to it, used Sentinel as a bludgeon to knock Lugnut away, and saved the day. Chastened, even Sentinel had to admit Optimus had done a good job, and offered him the position on the Elite Guard he would have to vacate to become Magnus, although Optimus declined. He then dropped Optimus back on Earth, and they mutually saluted in goodbye.

Finally arriving at Cybertron, Sentinel proceeded to lead a parade across Cybertron in his own honour, urging the cheering throngs to accept him as their Magnus. Decepticon Air

Sentinel Prime immediately began putting out propaganda warning Autobots that anyone they knew could be a Decepticon spy, began shutting down facilities like Maccadam's Old Oil House as a security measure, and started viewing any challenge to him as treason. When the Decepticon-occupied Omega Supreme appeared in the skies above Cybertron, Sentinel immediately advocated firing on it, ignoring a displaced Ratchet's warnings that Omega was so transwarp-saturated that this would take out the planet.

Ratchet's opposition led to Sentinel having him hunted down for treason. Jerkier still, Sentinel prepared to fire on Omega while the Council were still discussing the matter, and he lied to them about his intentions. Luckily, when he did have the Elite Guard's Fortress Maximus fire on the titan, the Decepticons transwarped away. Sentinel brushed off the Council's ire and tried to take Ultra Magnus' salvaged hammer from Ratchet, attempting to pursue and arrest the medic when Ratchet simply took the hammer with him back to Earth. Jazz volunteered to go instead, taking the opportunity to get out from under Sentinel's command. This Is Why I Hate Machines

Soon, Sentinel would have to swallow his pride when Optimus Prime returned to Cybertron with his crew, with captured Megatron, Shockwave, and Lugnut, and with three reclaimed stasis pods—in Omega Supreme, no less! He stood glowering as the <s>cheering throngs</s> unwashed masses surrounded his rival.
*Sentinel Prime (Deluxe, 2008)
**Japanese ID number: TA-28
**Accessories: Lance, shield

: Sentinel Prime transforms into a metallic blue monster-truck snowplow, and is armed in robot mode with his trademark Skyboom shield and lance. Either item can fit in either of his hands, and the shield has a ring mount to allow the lance to attach to it for transporting on the back of the vehicle mode. Surprisingly for an otherwise pointy object, the lance is actually cast in hard plastic. The weapons are also painted blue rather than cast in translucent plastic, an unusual choice for modern "energy" weapons". The toy also has an abandoned light-piping gimmick: not only are the eyes painted over, but the eye-piece is cast in black plastic, making it useless.

: Unfortunately, due to being released in the Deluxe size class, the Sentinel toy is technically incompatible with the Headmaster accessory, which is only designed to work with Leader-class toys. You actually can wedge it on to him quite snugly, though.

: Due to a quirk of the transformation process, the plow on the front of the truck can be angled left or right, just as on real-world snowplows. Also, if you're the type that really goes for show accuracy, the antenna on the left side of Sentinel Prime's robot mode head can be tilted back and forth, just like he did in the episode "Predacons Rising". That's some mighty fine scannin', Sentinel!

: In a surprising reversal from the norm, the TakaraTomy release uses softer, rubbery plastic on the lance rather than the harder plastic of the Hasbro release.
Notes
* Sentinel Prime's blue coloration and especially pronounced chin (even by normal Animated standards!) really make him look like the Tick. He's even voiced by Townsend Coleman, who provided the voice of the Tick in his 1990s animated series. At the Cartoon Network panel at BotCon 2008, it was confirmed that Sentinel's design was created after Coleman was cast for the role. It's pretty evident that the writers ran with it, having him utter silly, Tick-esque lines like "Energon-y goodness!"

* As for personality, Marty Isenberg said during an interview in the Transformers Collector's Club magazine that his love of M*A*S*H* was the big reason Sentinel Prime is a jerk. He believes that the Transformers universe "needed a Major Frank Burns."

* At 2008's Cartoon Network panel, Derrick J. Wyatt confirmed that originally the character of Sentinel Prime was going to be named Rodimus Prime, but the idea of casting Rodimus as a big jerk didn't sit well with some people. But they'd eventually find some use for Rodimus somewhere, to be sure!

* Wyatt also related some previously unknown design trivia at BotCon 2008: At the time "Transform and Roll Out" went into production, the only part of Sentinel Prime that had been fully designed was his head. However, this turned out to be a non-final design; in his subsequent appearances, Sentinel's head is shorter and squatter, with a more bulbous chin and dark grey instead of white. Also, in "Transform and Roll Out", he has a set of extra smoke stacks/antennae on his shoulders, which would vanish during his first full-body appearance.

* Sentinel Prime is the first incarnation of the character to possess an Earth-mode. He is also the first to have a toy of him released, as well as the only incarnation of the character to not die at all during his appearances.

*Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II detailed in general how Season 4 might have played out would it have been produced. After Megatron's escape from prison and the death of Ultra Magnus, Sentinel would try to secure his position as Sentinel Magnus, first by commissioning a Powermaster upgrade for himself from the Project Omega team, then by invading Earth with the intent of using the collected AllSpark fragments to defeat Megatron. Optimus would steal Sentinel's Powermaster upgrade and travel to Earth to stop Sentinel from making a huge mistake. If "Powermaster Optimus Prime" toy would have been completed, designers vaguely planned, if at all possible, for it to also be compatible with the Sentinel Prime toy.

* Sentinel Prime's animation model and toy served as raw material for informal mockups of how Ironhide's Earth form would look in Season 4. Ironhide's actual appearance and toy, would they have been completed, would have resulted in an entirely new look and action figure.
Wreck-Gar
:Wreck-Gar is a very confused individual from the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Recently brought to life by the power of the AllSpark, Wreck-Gar is simple-minded and highly suggestible. As he attempts to learn more about his identity, he never loses his sense of humor. His trash bin is an impressive bag of tricks, able to stash and deploy many useful (and even more useless) items at a moment's notice, or make them seemingly disappear forever. This ability is a bit of a mixed blessing, as Wreck-Gar will frequently confuse your request with something that sounds vaguely similar.

Wreck-Gar's primary goal in life is to acquire an identity. Additionally, he is eager to help people and be liked. He will automatically take on whatever role is suggested to him. This makes him rather unpredictable and prone to making the wrong move at the wrong time. However, if he can learn to think for himself instead of relying on others, there's potential in this friendly mix-and-match bot.

Wreck-Gar emerged from a garbage scow, activated by a shard of AllSpark energy that was close to Sari Sumdac's Key, self-aware but with no sense of history or identity. He tried to figure out what he was by studying objects in his environment and was briefly tricked by a food label into thinking he was high-fructose corn syrup. Spying a blimp proclaiming the Detroit Metro Police Department was "here to help", Wreck-Gar went off in search of the police for help. Once ashore, Wreck-Gar's clumsy curiosity prevented police officers from apprehending the Angry Archer, and the villain quickly conscripted Wreck-Gar as a sidekick, even giving the confused mechanoid his new, shorter name (as "worthless-wreck-walking-pile-of-garbage" was a bit overlong). Wreck-Gar helped the Archer disable an armored car, allowing him to steal a canister of unknown content right in front of the Autobots Ratchet and Bumblebee.

Upon seeing the Autobots and overhearing that they protected life and caught bad guys, Wreck-Gar decided he wanted to do that, slapped an Autobrand on his chest, and chased the escaping Archer. Throwing the Archer high into the air in order to "catch" him, Wreck-Gar only got the canister, as the Archer used a grappling arrow to escape. After being harshly told by Ratchet he was only good for one thing, GARBAGE!, Wreck-Gar proudly declared he was good for only one thing—GARBAGE!—and set about trying to deliver the stinky stuff to the entire citizenry of Detroit. (Detroit just happened to be in the middle of a garbage strike as well. Hooray!) The Autobots gave chase, having discovered the canister Wreck-Gar held contained experimental Sumdac Systems garbage-eating microbots, which Ratchet worried would be dangerously mutated by Wreck-Gar's AllSpark energy.

This mission became much more dangerous when he was approached by Lugnut, who was out to retrieve the AllSpark shard from Wreck-Gar's body. Thanks to Wreck-Gar's habit of repeating everything said to him (specifically, Ratchet's proclamation that "you're not an Autobot, and you never will be an Autobot!"), Lugnut believed the newcomer was just as much a loyal Decepticon as himself. When Ratchet accosted Wreck-Gar, Lugnut prepared his Punch of Kill Everything, which Wreck-Gar took to mean the universal greeting, so he gave Lugnut a high-five that left a colossal impact crater. As the Autobots ran for it, Wreck-Gar hopped on the pursuing Lugnut, pulling out the now-cracked microbot canister he'd gotten. A small amount spilled on Lugnut and began eating through his tail section. Wreck-Gar helpfully disassembled the tail, sending Lugnut plummeting somewhere in Detroit, with himself and the tail landing in a full garbage scow, which the nanobots quickly began to consume. From the shore, a group of bystanders began cheering as they saw the scow's load diminish. Now supplied with a fresh load of garbage and mistaking the cheers as intended for his delivery of said garbage, Wreck-Gar pushed the scow full steam ahead.

Wreck-Gar's attempt to deliver it was impeded by Ratchet, who first screamed at the junk-bot that the nanobots would destroy the entire city should they reach shore, but Wreck-Gar was adamant. Ratchet then did the hardest thing he'd ever had to do: apologize for his insults and bad attitude. Ratchet told the now-even-more-confused robot that he could be whatever he wanted and to not let others decide for him who he was. Wreck-Gar decided he truly wanted to be a hero, and slapping the Autobot symbol on his chest once again, began vacuuming up the nanobots. The nanobots began to overload within his backpack, however, and as Wreck-Gar tumbled off of what was left of the scow, he cried out his thank-you to Ratchet. An explosion of AllSpark energy burst from the water, and all Ratchet's magnetic power could retrieve was random junk...

And, at the bottom of the lake, Wreck-Gar smiled to himself, a hero. Despite being buried up to his shoulders, he assured the fish passing by he was there to help...but first...could somebody give him a hand or a fin? Garbage In, Garbage Out

Eventually roused from his lakebed slumber by the crude raft of Sari Sumdac's ragtag crew, he joined the Substitute Autobots to help liberate Detroit from the grip of Soundwave. A bit less befuddled than in previous encounters, he proved (mostly) effective in aiding Sari in battle, only being defeated once Soundwave was able to focus his attentions solely on controlling Optimus Prime. Afterward, he enthusiastically pitched in on the cleanup efforts, collecting the scraps of hundreds of Porter C. Powell's damaged Soundwave toys.

He even got into the holiday spirit a bit, playing Santa and handing out garbage to all the good little girls and boys. Human Error, Part II

: Wreck-Gar transforms into a garbage truck with articulated lifting-forks. Pushing a small spring-loaded lever on the back of either of the lifting forks will extend the fork forward. The sliding lever on the top of the truck exposes both of his weapons from slots in the rear. These blade- or scissor-like weapons can attach to his forearms, or combine into a single bladed weapon which can also attach to either of his forearms. (Don't run with them!) His transformation involves pulling nearly his entire robot mode out from under the truck mode, meaning he wears his vehicle mode like a backpack, which severely restricts his waist articulation. However, you don't care because Wreck-Gar is awesome (and it's show-accurate).

: A number of Wreck-Gars have a problem with their right shoulders that causes the pin to move out of its position when the shoulder is moved during transformation. It is currently unknown if this would eventually cause the pin to pop out completely.

: The Japanese release of Wreck-Gar is virtually identical to the Hasbro version; the only notable change to the Japanese version is the use of a white-and-red Autobot symbol rather than a non-outlined silver one.
Notes
* Originally, the creators wanted Eric Idle to play Wreck-Gar, as he was the original voice for his Generation 1 namesake. As Idle was busy with the production of Spamalot, Weird Al was selected instead.
* Wreck-Gar's head is an old-fashioned portable TV set, complete with channel selection dials, aerial and a handle for transport. As art director/character designer Derrick J. Wyatt has admitted to being heavily influenced by Gainax shows, this may well be a visual cue to FLCL, along with the resemblance to the original Wreck-Gar's head and his "TV talk" persona. Plus, in the music video for Dare To Be Stupid, Weird Al's head turns into a TV at one point.
* Wreck-Gar's line "I dare to be stupid!" is something of a double-callout, as the Weird Al song "Dare to Be Stupid" was featured in the original Transformers movie during the battle against the Junkions, and Wreck-Gar himself is voiced by Al.
* Then, of course, there's the accordion in one of the above images. Al himself has been an accordion player since the age of 7.
* Transformers Animated story editor Marty Isenberg stated in an interview that the idea of a garbage bin that Wreck-Gar can pull anything out of was inspired by Harpo Marx.
* Among the things that Wreck-Gar throws at Ratchet and Bumblebee when they meet is a motorcycle resembling the alt mode of the original Wreck-Gar.
* Weird Al stated in a Q&A at 2009 that Wreck-Gar ended up working with Detroit's sanitation committee. Sounds like he's living the American dream!
Synopsis
Stuck in a cosmic "time out" with the Combaticons, Starscream decides to book it, declaring the Combaticons incompetent. Unfazed, Onslaught has developed a plan of revenge; Blast Off is towing their asteroid to Cybertron. The Combaticons' arrival on Cybertron interrupts a little target practice Shockwave is holding for the Sentinel drones. The Combaticons merge into Bruticus, decimate the Sentinels, and launch gun-mode Shockwave into deep space. Onslaught declares that Operation: Revenge has begun.

On Earth, Megatron is overseeing the Insecticon army, as they devour a city one building at a time. Optimus Prime and the Autobots arrive, but the Insecticons are moving into a nearby neighborhood that is still inhabited. Prime is unwilling to risk civilian casualties, so the Autobot leader sends in the Protectobots to evacuate the civilians.

At the Autobot base, Perceptor is giving Spike Witwicky a little astronomy lesson about shooting stars, noting that the odds of an actual star colliding with the Earth are slim...

Meanwhile, out in space, Starscream literally runs into Shockwave. Apparently unaware that Starscream has been exiled, Shockwave enlists his help to rescue Cybertron.

At Shockwave's base, Brawl is itching for a fight, Blast Off advises calm, as Onslaught is sure to have a plan. That plan involves the Space bridge. Though it is far ahead of any Decepticon technology Onslaught has previously seen, he manages to rig the space bridge to move Earth into its sun, which will destroy the Decepticons and the Autobots at the same time!

On Earth, the humans have been successfully evacuated from the city, and the Autobots begin blasting the Insecticons to bits. However, Spike and Perceptor arrive, Powerglide dropping them off, having learned of Earth's altered orbit, and inform Prime of the peril. The Autobots head for the space bridge, and Megatron orders Shrapnel to remove the space bridge's control console and evacuate.

On Cybertron, Starscream and Shockwave use a holographic projector to make the Combaticons believe that they are under attack. Shockwave discovers Onslaught's space bridge modifications, but Starscream shoots him, then sends Megatron an ultimatum: Surrender leadership of the Decepticons, or everything on Earth, including Megatron and the Decepticons, will fry. However, the Combaticons eventually figure out the ruse, and they imprison Starscream and Shockwave.

Megatron sends Thrust and Ramjet to locate the Insecticons, but they discover that the bug-bots have chewed up the console. The Autobots, who have also tracked down the Decepticons, offered to assist Megatron and the Decepticons. Perceptor repairs the console with parts from Prime and Megatron. Prime insists that the Autobots be included in the trip to Cybertron, which Megatron relents to, and the united teams head to Cybertron, leaving the Protectobots to struggle with rising temperatures and find a way to keep the human race from being wiped out.

The two teams free Starscream and Shockwave, the former loudly protesting that he was forced to threaten Megatron by the Combaticons, and the latter immediately denouncing the story as lies. Before anyone can do anything else, the Combaticons attack, merging into Bruticus when the fight turns against them. Starscream reveals that Bruticus has one weak point on his back that, if blasted, will shut him down. Prime manages to shoot the weak point, and Sideswipe reverses the space bridge, returning Earth to its proper orbit.

Prime and Megatron agree to destroy Bruticus, and Megatron allows the Autobots to leave unharmed. However, the Decepticons have faked Bruticus' destruction, and reprogrammed the real Bruticus to serve Megatron. Megatron pardons Starscream and restores him to the Decepticon ranks.
Notes
Animation or technical glitches
*When Bruticus is holding Shockwave, and Shockwave transforms to gun mode, his arms transform directly into the barrel, rather than the arms folding up and the barrel attaching out of nowhere.
*As he says, "I can't stand it!," Starscream is missing the Decepticon insignia on his wings.
*When Groove first appears, he has the word "POLISE" written on his side.
*When Dirge and Thundercracker take energon cubes to the space bridge, Thundercracker is colored with Starscream's colors.
*As he says, "I'm that close to Cybertron?," one of Starscream's Decepticon insignia is white instead of purple.
*Shockwave changes the projector to show gargoyles, but as he and Starscream walk away, the Combaticons are still fighting the giant squid things.
*Ramjet is missing the transformation sound effect as he finds the Insecticons in the parking garage.
*The building the meat freezer is located in is labelled "Metro Meat Pacing"
*Ratchet's helmet is colored black shortly after Prowl finds the space bridge control panel.
*After Perceptor turns on the space bridge, the graphic shows it activating with no one inside.
*When Starscream and Shockwave are rescued from prison, a second Megatron appears briefly beside the first.
*When Starscream demands to be leader of the Decepticons in order to stop the Earth from falling into the sun, Brawl attacks, but the next scene shows only Swindle, who retreats.
*When Megatron consecutively blasts Onslaught, Brawl & Swindle, the sound of the blast hits is coming from the right channel instead of the left.
*When surrounded by the Autobots and Decepticons, it is Vortex commanding the Combaticons to merge into Bruticus, but you hear Onslaught's voice.
*Bruticus rips away part of the wall of the teleportation chamber to throw at the sentinel guards, however no hole or any damage is visible until after Optimus Prime notices the space bridge alterations. The animation of Bruticus flexing and then bending down is used a second time, however there's nothing where his hands are reaching.
*As Optimus discovers the altered space bridge on Cybertron, the crest on his helmet is drawn much larger than usual.
*A shot later, we see Sideswipe, Prowl and Sunstreaker run towards Prime, but the next shot shows only Sideswipe standing next to him.
*Starscream says Bruticus can be disabled by hitting three spots on his back, but Prime disables him after one shot.
*After saving the Earth, Starscream's cockpit is colored all yellow when it should have white stripes.
*Skywarp and Ramjet enter the space bridge, but Thundercracker appears on Cybertron as well. All three basically disappear after the rescue of Starscream and Shockwave.
*When the Autobots are preparing to leave Cybertron at the end, Sideswipe speaks with Sunstreaker's voice.

Continuity errors
* The asteroid Starscream was banished to is a lot larger in this episode than shown at the end of "Starscream's Brigade".
* The Combaticons’ lack of energy absorbers as shown in "Starscream's Brigade" is not mentioned and seems to cause no problems for them. (Maybe they installed new ones once on Cybertron.) Somehow, Blast-Off has enough power to tow an entire asteroid and its passengers to Cybertron.
* Using a microscope to enlarge an image on a computer screen does not work that way. Spike would be looking at individual pixels.
* How improbable is it that in the infinite vastness of space, underlined by Perceptor just seconds before, with Starscream only heading in the general direction of Cybertron and Shockwave being randomly tossed off its surface and out of its orbit, that the two randomly crash into each other?
* While waiting for Onslaught to implement his plan, Brawl mentions to Blast Off how he'd like to "attack the Earth now and crush Megatron like an Insecticon". Of all the Decepticons the Combaticons encountered since their reactivation during the previous episode, the Insecticons were not among them.
* Shockwave appears completely unaware that Starscream was an exile. Has Megatron never heard of memos?
* After finding the projector, Swindle tells the other Combaticons, "Gentlemen, we've been had." Considering their contempt for humanity, the turn of phrase is somewhat strange.
* If the sun is so close that it makes crops spontaneously combust, how has humanity not burned alive?
* Why don't we see Ratchet helping out the humans? He's an ambulance too, you know.
* Blades flies over at least 20 people stranded in the burning village, yet leaves after 7 people get in his rescue "basket". Even if the basket was packed (which it clearly wasn't), couldn't he have rescued more by letting them ride in his cabin?
** Even more disturbing, we see several children in the fly-over, but the adults just abandon them in their rush to save themselves!
* Why don't the Autobots just fly Omega Supreme over to Cybertron?
* The Combaticons lock up Starscream and Shockwave by closing a door and activating a force field. When Megatron frees them, there's only a force field (the door is nowhere to be seen).
* Optimus suddenly has a second gun (for about two seconds) in the battle against the Combaticons.
* The Decepticons and Autobots travel to Cybertron by way of the Space Bridge, arriving in the normal teleportation chamber. However, nobody notices the alterations to the Space Bridge until Bruticus rips a hole in the wall while they're all outside fighting.
* Megatron comes up with the idea of reprogramming Bruticus for loyalty in this episode, even though he could have done so in the last episode after Bruticus was defeated by Menasor.
* How does the water on Earth get replenished after this episode? And what about all the damage to those cities that was caused by the Insecticons?
* Did Optimus really expect Megatron to just destroy an unstoppable killing machine that could be used against the Autobots without even a bit of protest? Clearly Optimus Prime is waaaaay too trusting.

Continuity notes
* This is the Protectobots' first appearance in the series, yet there is absolutely no mention of where they came from. While this does put them in the company of most of the rest of the new season-two cast, it's the first time a combiner team wasn't given a special origin episode. The reason for this, as noted in the show's production bible, was that the information on the team was not delivered to the cartoon's production staff before the episode plots for the rest of the series had been finalized. Consequently, there were no open slots left to give the Protectobots an episode dedicated to their origin, but they were inserted into some of the predetermined stories (namely, this episode and "B.O.T.") to appease Hasbro.
* &lt; &lt; What makes Starscream the leader? Nothing, but that doesn't stop him from trying to extort Megatron into giving up his leadership position in return for saving the Earth. > >
*This episode marks the second and last appearance of the Sentinel robots.
*This episode marks the last appearance of Autobot Security Director Red Alert. (It was a conspiracy. A CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU! HE KNEW TOO MUCH!)
*The episode marks one of the few, if not only times where the Decepticons end the episode with a clear advantage on their side (with Bruticus as their soon-to-be servant), whereas in most episodes, their plans are usually completely foiled.

Trivia
* During the fight with the Insecticons, Powerglide lands to let Spike and Perceptor out. We assume Perceptor transformed from microscope to robot mode upon exiting, as Optimus' trailer obscures from view their disembarking, but no transformation noise is heard. We also assume Powerglide was at headquarters, although off-screen, when Spike was looking at deep space through Perceptor. Also, it's safe to say that in robot mode, Perceptor can't fit inside Powerglide. If he did, a scale issue would arise.

:Tigatron is a Maximal from the Generation 1 continuity family. He was previously designated Unit 2.

Damage to his stasis pod upon crashing to Earth caused Tigatron to emerge far more tiger than robot. A loner who is more connected to the Earth than any other Beast Warrior, he enjoys the planet's natural beauty and is often concerned about the damage that the Transformers' battle is doing to it. Scout, infiltrator, and sometimes programming guru, Tigatron has filled a variety of roles for the Maximals.

Fiction
First wave toy bio
A powerful and fearless warrior, Optimus Primal appointed Tigatron to patrol the northern polar sector, where he roams in his beast mode. When he encounters Predacon activity, he is capable of transforming rapidly and reconfiguring his titanium tail into a powerful quasar cannon, which he then uses to vaporize his enemies! Additionally, he sports a toxic fluid blaster, which renders anybody struck by it completely useless. Tigatron#Toys

Dawn of Future's Past
Tigatron was once known as Unit 2, part of the Maximal Command Security Force which protected the fragile peace that existed on Cybertron in the centuries following the Pax Cybertronia. One of the Security Force's elite troops, Unit 2 was often put in charge of guarding important Maximal artifacts, a job that often required his amazing prowess at tracking. Despite his strong command of this environment, Unit 2 wondered if his destiny and place were elsewhere.

When the Golden Disk was stolen by a band of rogue Predacons, Unit 2 responded along with Unit 1, Nitrostreak. After Nitrostreak was incapacitated, Unit 2 attempted to follow the Darksyde by commandeering the Chromia 10, pursuing along with its pilot. During the ensuing firefight with a second Predacon vessel, their ship was badly damaged. Optimus Primal had their sparks remotely uploaded to blank protoforms in the Axalons cargo hold, which saved their lives, but severely damaged their core mainframes. Dawn of Future's Past

:Voice actor: Blu Mankuma (English), Kōichi Tōchika (Japanese), Armando Tiraboschi (Portuguese), Alvaro Tarcicio (Latin American Spanish), Luis Marín (Castilian Spanish), Marco Balzarotti (Italian), Henry König (German)

Tigatron's stasis pod was the first to fall onto the mysterious world which would later be revealed as prehistory Earth. Born in the far, frozen north, heavily damaged in his memory circuits and unable to remember friend from foe, Tigatron took to his beast mode. He patiently watched the Predacon and Maximal forces duke it out over the empty stasis pod, finally realising that he was a Maximal when Megatron threatened him and the white tiger he had scanned. Transforming, he quickly dispatched the Predacons, but told Optimus Primal that he preferred to remain in the wilds. Fallen Comrades

From the northern territories, he would send weekly updates to the Axalon through communication towers. The Trigger, Part 1 He teamed up with Primal to investigate why Waspinator was buzzing around in Maximal territory, and was able to track the Predacon back to a cave where Terrorsaur and Blackarachnia were attempting to use a sonic emitter to break into the Maximal base. After he stole the device, it exploded, and Tigatron rejoined the other Maximals to mourn Rattrap, who had apparently died trying to disarm Sentinel (only he hadn't died). A Better Mousetrap

When a temporal probe sent by the Maximal High Council neared the planet, Tigatron defended the Maximals while they tried to build a transmission tower on Predacon soil. He became the first victim of Tarantulas's transformation lock lens and ended up in a cage next to Cheetor in the Predacon base. Cheetor fouled up and clued Megatron in as to what was going on, but Tigatron led an escape, and the pair were able to destroy Tarantulas's weapon, though too late to contact the probe. The Probe
Tigatron returned to the Axalon when the Maximals were preparing to leave the planet, remarking that it felt strange to be inside an artificial structure. After it turned out that the Predacons weren't as dead as had been thought, Tigatron attempted to leave to help Primal and Cheetor rescue Dinobot, but was told to sit down by Rhinox. No sooner was takeoff underway than the ship was damaged by Megatron and crashed once again. Victory (episode) Alerted to the landing of another stasis pod, Tigatron headed for it, only to run into Scorponok. He was swiftly able to freeze the scorpion, only to be taken out by Blackarachnia's cyber venom. He was later around in the Axalon to welcome Airazor to the team. The Spark
It was during one of his weekly reports that Tigatron was attacked by Terrorsaur and Waspinator and found himself on a strange flying island. He explored the natural beauty of the island and believed this area, with its powerful death ray and many horrible death-traps, to be a land of peace. When Scorponok and Blackarachnia arrived on the island and shot down Airazor, Tigatron used one of Scorponok's cyberbees to send a warning message back to base. The Trigger, Part 1 The duo received reinforcements in the form of Optimus and Rattrap, and they attempted to beat the Predacons to the obelisk in the center of the island. They failed, and to Tigatron's distress, he was forced to destroy the island's power source after Blackarachnia took control of it. The island crashed, leaving Tigatron with profound regret. The Trigger, Part 2

Tigatron was the first Maximal to spot Inferno's stasis pod crashing, but was prevented from getting there by Waspinator. Airazor lent a hand, and he sent her ahead to secure the pod, but arrived to find she'd failed—the new protoform was a Predacon, and Tarantulas had made off with the empty pod. Tigatron pursued Tarantulas and managed to destroy the pod so that the Predacons couldn't learn anything from it, before he was attacked in retaliation by the Predacons. He would almost certainly have been destroyed if it wasn't for the timely arrival of Optimus and Airazor. Spider's Game
Being more at home with his beast mode than his robot mode, he was invaluable help when the Maximals were left stuck in beast mode and overpowered by animal instincts. He helped them learn to work with these instincts instead of struggling for dominance. Call of the Wild After a group of the Maximals went missing, Tigatron and Primal hunted for them. It turned out that the four Maximals had become blinded by an energon explosion and had been making their way back to base. Dark Voyage

After the other Maximals were expelled from their base by the Predacons with the aid of a Starscream-possessed Waspinator, Airazor alerted Tigatron. Tigatron joined the other Maximals in a ploy to take back their base, which apparently involved helping Starscream to mount an assault on the Darksyde. Possession He also helped provide reinforcements for Dinobot and Rattrap, as the pair tried to find a cure for the energon discharge virus with which Rhinox had been afflicted. The Low Road
While providing aid for Cheetor and Dinobot, Tigatron easily trounced Waspinator and Inferno, but a stray shot from his weapon caused an avalanche, killing his tiger friend Snowstalker. Anguished, Tigatron quit the Beast Wars, refusing to fight any longer, despite several of the Maximals trying to persuade him otherwise. In the end, it was the Predacons' act of taking out Dinobot and Primal which made Tigatron realise that he had to do everything he could to protect the land. Law of the Jungle

Not much later, Tigatron was the first to detect a pulsing alien energy source. When Megatron initiated a somewhat suspicious truce shortly afterward, Optimus Primal ordered a covert infiltration of the Predacon base. Rattrap and Airazor made enough of a distraction to allow Tigatron inside the Predacon base.

The two were not seen again until much later, when their inert bodies were revealed to be the captives of the Vok, floating somewhere in a deep-space nebula. The Vok removed their sparks from their bodies, created a third spark, and then fused the new spark and the bodies into the awesomely powerful Vok emissary Tigerhawk. Tigerhawk was sent to Earth, while the sparks of Airazor and Tigatron followed behind. Reaching Earth, their sparks entered a comatose Cheetor, giving him a vision of Airazor and Tigatron's bodies, their sparks becoming one. But when the Vok interrupted the vision, Cheetor woke up screaming. He thought it was just a dream until he saw the combined Tigatron/Airazor spark floating before him. The combined spark led Cheetor to Tarantulas's lair, where Tarantulas was attempting to steal Tigerhawk's Vok powers for himself. Ultimately, the Vok were expelled into Tarantulas's body, killing him, which left Tigerhawk's body open for Tigatron/Airazor's spark to inhabit. Other Victories
Tigatron and Airazor's sparks were sent back to Earth by the Vok sometime after Tigerhawk's destruction. Tigatron's spark took possession of Ravage's former body at the bottom of a lake. Joining Transmetal Airazor and a newly created Primal Prime, Primeval Dawn Part 1 Tigatron scoured the planet for abandoned stasis pods. He awoke Ramulus from his pod, but Spittor had already been reprogrammed into a Predacon by the time they reached him. Spittor had joined a reborn Ravage and the recently created Iguanus and Razorclaw, and so the two groups battled. As Tigatron attempted to confront Spittor, Airazor knocked Spittor away, as she noted that the Predacon was covered in lethal poison. While they were occupied, Tarantulas, who was resurrected with the power of the Vok at his command, battled Primal Prime and ripped the Matrix of Leadership from his chest. Primeval Dawn Part 2

Primal Prime, traumatized by the separation, was reduced to a coma, so as the Predacons returned to Tarantulas's lair with their prize, Tigatron and the others retreated with their leader's body to the Ark. Tigatron and Airazor left Ramulus to commune with the Vok on their own, but could not successfully contact them. Further more, Tigatron was worried about Airazor, who seemed to have incurred long-term wounds from the battle with Ravage's Predacons. Their concerns were interrupted by an attack on the Ark, orchestrated by Ravage. However, Ramulus had apparently fled for reasons unknown, leaving Tigatron and Airazor alone against their attackers. Or not, as Primal Prime suddenly appeared behind them, possessed and rejuvenated by the Vok! Primeval Dawn Part 3

{{note|3H folded before the "Primeval Dawn" story could be finished, so the exact story of how Tigatron came to join the Wreckers is unknown.
Tigatron, Primal Prime, and others arrived on Cybertron during Megatron's anti-biological reign and joined Apelinq's Wreckers. The Wreckers and various other teams which persisted on the planet met with the Oracle, which assigned each of them a task. When Optimus Primal objected, saying that with all these soldiers, Megatron could be defeated easily, the Oracle swept him away and cleansed his memory of the recent events. Tigatron vehemently objected to this treatment of his former commander. A set of coordinates was infused into Primal Prime's head by the Oracle. When arriving at an Autobot shuttle, which was to ferry the Wreckers to those coordinates, Tigatron felt that something was amiss. It was then that the Vehicon generals Spy Streak, Scavenger, Quake and Blastcharge attacked. Tigatron used his Nature's Fury attack, utterly destroying Quake. Departure

During the ride in the Autobot shuttle, Tigatron meditated, recovering from using his powers against Quake. Ramulus knocked at the door of his chambers to alert him to their arrival on Archa Nine, and Tigatron sensed that danger awaited the Wreckers. As half their group left to scout the planet, Tigatron stayed behind with the remainder to repair their damaged shuttle. Tigatron's feelings of dread turned out to be correct; Cyclonus betrayed them all and stole the artifact the Wreckers were after, the Divine Light. Betrayal Apelinq had begun to lose what little faith he had in the mission, but Tigatron assured him that they must quickly mourn their fallen, soldier on, and accept their divine charge.

The Oracle led the Wreckers next to a desolate ice planet, where they found the exiled Quintesson scientist Al-Badur. Tigatron, meanwhile, had stayed behind with a few others on board the shuttle, where they faced an army of Sharkticons and defeated them easily. Disclosure

Tigatron was taken aback by the beauty of the newly technorganic Cybertron, but he didn't get a chance to enjoy it before the Wreckers plunged into battle. Unfortunately, at the planet's core, things went wrong for them almost immediately. Cryotek had already used the Divine Light to mutate himself into a larger, more impressive version of himself, and with one blast, he had destroyed both Apelinq and Primal Prime. Before Tigatron and the others could be next, thankfully, Primus himself intervened and brought back Apelinq and Primal Prime as a single new entity, Sentinel Maximus!

As amazing as this was, it didn't take long for Cryotek to shrug it off, and soon Tigatron and the others were fighting not only Cryotek and his loyal servant and former Wrecker, Cyclonus, but also his pet Deployer, Chro, who was also mutated to enormous size. Ramulus wondered why Tigatron did not simply unleash his Vok powers on their foes. Tigatron responded that doing such takes an incredible amount of focus and willpower, lest he tear himself and everything around him apart, and the moment did not lend itself to such.

Soon the Wreckers met up with the native Cybertronian counterforce, led by Cheetor. Though the two were happy to reunite, Tigatron was surprised to hear the matured Cheetor give him orders. Tigatron next found Rotorbolt with the mangled body of his fellow Predacon, Fractyl, who was still on life support from an earlier part of their journey. Tigatron feared Rotorbolt was going to euthanize the geometrist, and so he offered to use his Vok powers to restore him. The Vok warned him that this would extinguish the last of his connection to them, but still Tigatron proceeded.

Tigatron also met up with Rattrap, Nightscream, and Botanica, and after avoiding the question of the fate of Airazor, learned that Al-Badur had led the Wreckers and Cryotek to a long-forgotten Quintesson sentencing chamber. The Quintesson, attempting to 'port Cryotek away, locked both the Predacon and Sentinel Maximus in a containment field that threatened to suck them away into a dimension of nothingness. Tigatron and the others tried to free Sentinel Maximus with their various weapons, but had no luck. Though Cheetor and Rodimus tried to use their Matrix Templar powers to avert disaster, Sentinel Maximus ultimately sacrificed himself and Cryotek to the portal. Rodimus, who had suffered great wounds during his fight with Cyclonus, died shortly after due to these further exertions. Fractyl begged Tigatron to use his powers to save Rodimus as well, but Tigatron could not, as the Vok had since left him. Despite these losses, the Wreckers were victorious and Cybertron was saved. Wreckers: Finale Part II
Due to painted whiskers on his robot mode face that resemble a human mustache, Unit 2 is one of a small percentage of Transformers who feature facial hair. His rear engine assembly reveals a pair of spring-loaded flip-out guns when a Cyber Planet Key/Golden Disk Key is placed in it. This assembly becomes a hand-held blaster in robot mode. His side-pipes can also be removed and used as hand-weapons.

: This toy was an "attendance exclusive" for 2006, available only to pre-registrants who actually showed up for the convention.
:Stored on the USB drive is an installable program called "Transformers Desktop Defender". When the Tigatron device is plugged in, a Tigatron avatar appears on the screen, transforming from thumb drive to jaguar mode as the program is activated. The program's setup allows you to rename your jaguar to anything you desire, alter the avatar's movement speed and his personality, decide whether he eats your desktop icons, and view his function, mission, and Tech Spec numbers. Whether he appears as Ravage or Tigatron can be selected as well.
:This mold was also used to make Device Label Ravage and Cheetor, which came preloaded with the same program (although the Cheetor version can also display the avatar as Cheetor, naturally).
Notes
* The original concept art for Tigatron, shown in the "Beast Wars Reborn Golden Disc", shows that he was originally intended to be a retooling of the mold, rather than a simple redeco, changing his beast-mode head and a lot of his robot-mode parts (yet not the face), as well as giving him some kind of horrible tumor gun. Obviously, this didn't happen.

* The Tigatron shown at Toy Fair in 1996 was cast in orange plastic instead of cream-colored, giving him a more "traditional" tiger look. The change to a "white" tiger has so far been unexplained.

* Tigatron's beast mode may well have been female. His template animal was female, and while wild felines have size differences between males and females Tigatron and Snowstalker were shown as being the same size; indeed, they were for all intents and purposes identical, such that Waspinator thought Snowstalker was Tigatron. (Though to be fair, Waspinator is not the brightest crayon in the box.)

* In the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, for the sake of humor, Tigatron was played as a "samurai" ronin. Additionally, since Airazor was made male in the Japanese dub, "he" was presented as Tigatron's ward whom he looked to as a "brother" (hence the close bond)... but this did not prevent the "wacky" dubbing from broadly hinting at homosexuality between the two, especially after the events of "Other Visits".

* An unused idea by Larry DiTillio was that the Vok ceased trying to destroy Earth because contact with Tigatron (after his abduction) made them question the morality of the tactic.

* Tigatron's role in the Beast Wars cartoon was originally intended for Wolfang.

* Tigatron's package art is one of a handful that features the toy's mutant head instead of the regular robot head, to rather hilarious effect.

*He has a stadium named after him.

* Cheetor and Tigatron are the only characters in Beast Wars who are definitely in the correct scale to the lifeforms they adopted as beast modes, as each is seen nearby real versions of the animals they mimic.

* Tigatron's animation model (and thus that of Cheetor's original body as well) is one of the comparatively more toy-accurate of the Season One cast. His transformation scheme, however, is simplified by having his arms and crotch-piece unfold from his beast mode's belly instead of its back, possibly in order to eliminate the need for a mid-transformation change in the direction he is facing; a rarity in Beast Wars design and something only Terrorsaur does in the actual show.

* Tigatron is one of only a few characters to receive multiple BotCon exclusive toys, sharing the distinction with Breakdown, Double Punch, Apelinq and Shattered Glass Megatron/Galvatron. Unique among the five, neither of his BotCon toys is a straight redeco of a toy that saw mass release in American markets.
