'''Obsidian''' and his consort [[Strika]] have fought for [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] in countless battles... and won them all. Though he is sophisticated and canny, able to concoct strategies with layers upon layers, his purpose is single-minded. He defends Cybertron.

There is some fine print. Whoever happens to be in charge, whether a benevolent or malevolent force, in his reasoning, ''is'' Cybertron. Once power changes hands, so does he. He is loyal only to the planet, and perhaps his consort Strika, not to any moral ideals. As his fellow Vehicon General [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]] has remarked, "If you're loyal to everybody, can you really be loyal to anybody?"... a question that has given Obsidian pause.

In an [[Obsidian (Universe)|alternate universe]], Obsidian would rise to overthrow [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] and take over Cybertron, only to become a thrall of the chaos-bringer [[Unicron]].

However, it transpired that the questioning was merely a test of suitability by the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] insurrectionist [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], and the entity appearing to be Obsidian was in fact a disguised [[Buzz Saw (BW)|Buzz Saw]].

:A Basic-price point toy in the ''Beast Machines'' line, Obsidian transforms into a twin-rotor assault helicopter vaguely similar to an Osprey. His cockpit in helicopter mode is multi-jointed to allow it movement to look around, the Vehicons' toy aesthetic being "living vehicles". The cockpit's "eyes" further enhance the effect. The two rotor blades are pressure-launch projectiles.

:The same mold is used by ''[[Robots in Disguise]]'' [[Obsidian (RiD)|Obsidian]] and ''Universe'' Obsidian. A hand-painted mock-up of the mold was presented as a proposed [[Wreckers]] [[Rotorbolt (Universe)|Rotorbolt]] as a future [[BotCon]] exclusive, but was never produced.

When armies of [[Vehicon]]s seiged [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], young '''Nightscream''' was cast into the darkness below the surface of the planet, and he was alone. His traumatizing solitude influences much of his behavior. He's always on the defensive. He lashes out. He's afraid. There are times he says mean things, or brings up the hurtful past when he should be courteously silent.

But he's just a kid, and he's been through a lot. Inside, he's got a good heart. He's just got to learn to stop fighting friends and enemies alike. He seems to have found a kindred spirit in the wild [[Savage/Noble]] creature.

Other Maximals arrive, kill tree, and reformat bat into Bat-boy from Weekly World News (with added boy-band hair). Bat-boy mopes around and cops annoying Anakin-esque attitude with everyone.

Season 2: Bat-boy makes a friend. Friend turns out to be evil villain. Bat-boy mopes around and cop annoying Anakin-esque attitude with everyone again. Bat-boy's friend returns as a dragon/puppy dog. Evil villain kills dragon/puppydog. Bat-boy unleashes Mary-Sue level powers and avenges dragon/puppy dog. Everyone (except Waspinator) lives happily ever after.
