:Prowl is an Autobot character in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Prowl is the Autobot military strategist. As such, Autobot Commander Optimus Prime will keep Prowl near at hand for his indispensable expertise. He does not react well to the unsuspected and despises disorder. He believes his dedication to logic and rational thought puts him next in line for Optimus Prime's job and dreams of making grand speeches -- even though in reality he's stoic and uncharismatic.

He really doesn't tend to get along well with his fellow Autobots, many of whom find his strict adherence to military protocol stifling, and his uptight personality sure doesn't help matters. The Dinobot commander Grimlock especially honks Prowl off, and Grimlock feels pretty much the same way in return, only with more swear words.

A possible alternate-universe version of Prowl is active during the Universe conflict.
Voice actor: Michael Bell (US), Toshirō Ishii (Japan)<br>

Prowl was part of the crew of the Ark, the Autobot starship that left Cyberton looking for alternate sources of energy only to crashland on Earth. Four million years later, the Transformers were reawakened and reformatted by Teletraan-1. Despite being situated in the United States, Prowl was reformatted as a Japanese police car. No one seemed to notice.

On Earth, Prowl continued to serve as Optimus Prime's right hand man, filling the role of military advisor and strategist. His precision thinking and by-the-books planning served as a valuable counterpoint to Jazz's more improvisational style, and it was up to Optimus Prime to weigh their views and come to a decision.

During an attack against Decepticons, Prowl's battle computer was knocked offline by a particularly fierce blow. Crippled, Prowl extended his antenna to seek out an online computer that he could patch into. He found Chip Chase's desktop terminal, and the young human ally momentarily took control of Prowl, animating the massive Autobot warrior with his computer.

Prowl met his maker in the year 2005, alongside fellow Autobots Ironhide, Brawn and Ratchet. During a Decepticon assault of a shuttle run to earth from Moonbase One for energon. He was felled by a single blast from Scavenger, proving that a stylish leap when you fire your gun is all that was needed for Decepticon weapons to actually kill someone.

Headmasters cartoon
Prowl appears as an extra on Earth, even though he died in the movie ten years or so previously.

(Note: Prowl's revival can be chalked up to error, especially since the Movie did not actually reach Japan until many years later.)
Prowl is the leader of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency. He almost throws Ratchet in the brig for breaking cover to rescue three humans from the Decepticons, and subsequently refuses to contact Optimus Prime until further evidence of enemy activities is uncovered. He does not willingly believe Ratchet when the medic tells him that the Decepticons have stepped up their presence by constructing a second base.
Toys
Generation 1
* Prowl (Autobot Car, 1984/1985/1990/2002/2003)
: Japanese ID number: 09, TFC-02

: Prowl was part of the first series of Autobots released in 1984, reusing a mold originally developed for a Diaclone Datsun Fairlady Z (280 ZX) police car, with his decals altered to remove the "Diaclone" marks. (The European "Classic Heroes" re-release retained the Diaclone stickers, for unknown reasons).

: In 1985, Mexico imported Transformers, but there were some notable changes on numerous toys. Prowl's helmet, arms, and boots turned black, plus his "POLICE" decals became "POLICIA". There was also a wide running change (or just factory error) that left out the black paint on his car hood.

: In 2002, Prowl was re-released as part of the Transformers Collection series in Japan. This version has slightly-altered decals, and fully-functional spring-loaded missile launchers.

: In 2003, Prowl was released as part of the Toys "R" Us exclusive "Commemorative Series" line in the US. This version of Prowl uses a softer , unchromed black plastic for his rifle and missiles owing to breakage issues, plus his launchers are completely non-firing. He uses the same decals as the Japanese "bookbox" release.

: The same mold was used for Bluestreak and Smokescreen.

* Prowl (Action Master Blaster, 1990)

: A non-transforming action figure, Action Master Prowl is modeled after his cartoon model with a few toy-based liberties taken. He came with his Turbo Cycle vehicle, though the main figure was comatible with all other Action Master vehciles and weapons.

Machine Wars
* Prowl (Basic, 1997)

: Sharing a mold with Machine Wars Mirage, Prowl transforms into a Formula-1 race car, and converts to robot mode with a spring-loaded, one-step transformation. His rifle-halves store in his legs in car mode. He --and the entire Machine Wars line-- was available only at Kay-Bee stores.

: Prowl's usual function is strategist, but, in an ironic twist, in this first non-police car form he's described as chief of security.

: This mold was also used to make Robots in Disguise Skid-Z.

Smallest Transformers
* Prowl (2003)
: Japanese ID number: GTF-09

: Released in Wave 2 of Smallest Transformers, STF Prowl is the smallest possible transforming toy based upon the original Prowl toy. He faithfully repoduces the transformation sequence for the most part, but due to parts-cost limitations, he has little articulation, his legs cannot seperate and his wheels do not roll.

Alternators
* Prowl (Alternator, 2005/2006)
: Japanese ID number: BT-15

: Alternators Prowl transforms into a 1:24-scale Acura RSX car with police lights, opening doors, hood and trunk. His engine becomes a (non-firing) gun, while a clear-plastic nightstick is hidden under his car-mode rear section. He was among the last of the "red box" Alternators, but was included in new "white box" assortments in 2006.

: For his standard Japanse Binaltech release, Prowl got a different vehicle mode deco based on a real Japanese police car (the Hasbro version's deco being based more on the original Generation 1 toy), a different spoiler mold, and gray plastic instead of stony-blue. He was also labeled as a "Honda Integra Type-R", the model's make in Japan.

: Like Jazz, Prowl got two different decos released in equal numbers. The second version is a civilian version with a different spoiler (different even from the Hasbro Prowl), no police lights, and a solid blue car-shell. His robot-mode parts remained the same color, however.

: This mold (the Japanese blue Prowl variant, at least) was used to make Alternators Camshaft.

: The Hasbro version of Prowl, using the Hasbro red box packaging, was supposed to have been released in Japan as an exclusive to a satellite TV provider. The only notable difference from the Hasbro version was the "Satellite Patrol" markings on his doors. It is unknown if this toy was ever actually released, however.

Universe
*Prowl (Autobot, 2005)

: A redeco of the Robots in Disguise Prowl 2 mold, Universe Prowl transforms into a Chevrolet Caprice police car with through-axle construction for super-speedy rolling on smooth surfaces. His gun hides as his car mode's tailpipe. Originally only available at Kay-Bee stores in packaging with no sub-line markings, his entire assorment was later repackaged under the Universe banner and sold through "dollar store" chains like Family Dollar.

Attacktix
*Prowl (Booster, 2007)

: Introduced in Series 2 of Attacktix, Prowl is a Captain class unit with the special ability to stun an opposing player unit. His sculpt is based upon his G1 cartoon model with some additional details. His weapon is a hugely oversized version of his rifle, capable of firing a large silver projectile.

Trivia
* Prowl's Diaclone precedessor also came with additional optional stickers that would identify him as being part of the police forces from existing Japanese cities, namely "Tokyo City", "Sapporo City", "Sendai City", "Osaka City" and "Fukuoka City".

* The original Transformers instructions booklet shows a visible Japanese label sheet complete with the Imperial chrysanthemum emblem found on Japanese police cars, which did not make it to final product.

* Machine Wars Prowl's card-art is actually an altered version of the art for the Generation 2 Laser Rod Jolt.

* At OTFCC 2004 Hasbro stated that there was no Prowl Alternator in the works, but some other emergency vehicle (which got a chorus of boos). When no non-Prowl emergency vehicle appeared, suspicions arose, and fans speculated that the Prowl mold was originally intended to be Red Alert. The Alternator's general transformation scheme is reminiscent of the Red Alert mold, but that holds little water in the world of Alternators. Later, a listing for "Alternators Red Alert" appeared on Hasbro's web site, with Prowl's image, seemingly confirming the theory. Careful study of his control art in the Binaltech version's booklet also reveals that the Prowl head appears to have been digitally added onto the original line-art, due to differing line-thickness.

Shockwave
:Shockwave is a Decepticon in the Generation One continuity family. He was also briefly known as Shockblast.

Shockwave has been referred to as "a computer on legs." This is not far from the truth. Logic rules Shockwave's thought processes and is the source of his every inspiration. He sees emotion as a weakness and a distraction. His cold and calculating modus operandi is supported by his frightening and exceptionally powerful form.

Shockwave is possibly even more powerful than Megatron, who he appears to be loyal to. Perhaps logic may one day dictate that the time to replace Megatron's flawed, emotion-fueled rule is at hand.

Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
(Note: Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.)

Shockwave was the only Decepticon not to crash on Earth in the Ark, having stayed behind to pilot the Decepticon ship. After the crash of the Ark, he landed on Earth, where he was detected by the Ark's computer. It activated and reformatted the Dinobots to fight him. They battled in the Savage Land, where both were eventually trapped in a tar pit for over four million years.

Shockwave was awakened shortly after the rest of the Transformers. He challenged Megatron for leadership, and won it. Megatron attempted to take control of the Decepticons back but he and Shockwave were evenly matched. In the end they agreed to a joint leadership. This was not entirely successful however. Shockwave became absolute leader when Megatron apparently committed suicide on the space bridge.

It was during this period that the time travelling Decepticon leader Galvatron travelled back fromm 2006 to 1986. Shockwave, afraid that Galvatron would challenge him for the Decepticon leadership, decided that he needed a weapon to use against him. Shortly after this Megatron reappeared in the sewers of London before becoming temporarilly deactivated at the bottom of the River Thames. Shockwave rescued him and began a brainwashing process to turn Megatron into a weapon against Galvatron. Galvatron's lieutenants Cyclonus and Scourge had also travelled back in time and let slip that that they would ultimately be responsible for Shockwave's death in the year 2007. This caused Shockwave to suffer a mental breakdown and he unleashed Megatron on the two Decepticons. Cyclonus was killed 20 years before his creation, an event that started a chain reaction that caused a rift in time and space. Shockwave then sent Megatron against Galvatron but this plan however misfired when Megatron and Galvatron forged an alliance.

Shockwave became despondent, unable to cope with the knowledge of his future death. It was only when Ravage appealled to his logic by showing him that he had 20 years worth of foreknowledge to prevent his death that he snapped out of his mental decline.

Not long after Shockwave lost leadership to Decepticon fuel auditor Ratbat, and was apparently destroyed after losing a fight in space caused him to burn-up upon re-entry. In truth he survived, and resurfaced later, leading a small splinter group of Decepticons against Scorponok, including Mindwipe and the Battlechargers. His resistance was cut short when all Transformers were teleported back to Cybertron to face the threat of Unicron.

After the battle, Shockwave and Starscream stole the Ark in order to escape the dying planet. Shockwave apparently died when the Ark crashed on Earth, shortly after getting his ass handed to him by the combined force of Megatron and Galvatron II.

By the year 2006 of one possible future, Shockwave had regained his position and following the disappearance of Galvatron following Unicron's attack on Cybertron he again took control of the Decepticons. He was ultimately killed by Death's Head, Cyclonus and Scourge a part of a plan by Unicron to regain his body.

Animated continuity
:Voice Actor: Corey Burton (US), Yutaka Shimaka (Japan)

(Note: In the Japanese dub of the Generation 1 cartoon, Shockwave's personality was altered from the American interpretation. Instead of being a monotone slave to logic he was presented like a grizzled old man with a raspy voice.)

Shockwave was a highly ranked Decepticon. Fanatically loyal to Megatron, Shockwave was entrusted stewardship of Cybertron by Megatron when the latter left to intercept an Autobot mission surveying for new forms of energy. Neither Decepticon suspected that Megatron's absence (and Shockwave's command) would last four million years. Little changed on Cybertron during those years, although Shockwave apparently lost his left hand and replaced it with a laser cannon.
Shockwave was a Decepticon scientist on Cybertron six hundred thousand meta-cycles ago. He predicted the eventual destruction of Cybertron as a result of the Great War, and theorized that the war would spread across the galaxy. In anticipation of this, he seeded several worlds with an altered form of energon. (This is possibly the Ore 13 later found by Starscream.) After a long period of indeterminable length, at the beginning of the Ice Age on Earth, the Energon had become unstable, requiring Shockwave to place dampening devices across the worlds he'd seeded.

Before departing Cybertron, he was ordered to deal with an Energon raid by the Dynobots (by destroying the energon and severely injuring the team of misfits). Vowing revenge, they followed him when he left the planet.

Earth was the first world he visited to plant the devices on. Before he could leave though, his ship was destroyed and the Dynobots teleported down to attack him. The concept of the Dynobots illogical behaviour based off vengeance, along with the sheer force of their attack, left him off balance at first. Unable to win through logic, he developed thought patterns based off rage. This more brutal, violent Shockwave decimated the Dynobots, burning off the organic coatings shielding them from the planet's high energon fields, forcing them into stasis lock. Deactivating his new 'rage' program for further study, Shockwave was prevented by leaving the planet by a dead man's switch on the Dynobots ship. A massive beam of energy plowed into the ground, causing a volcanic eruption which consumed Shockwave and the Dynobots. Spotlight #1 Shockwave
: Shockwave transforms into a large Cybertronian handgun. He has light and sound electronics activated by his gun-mode trigger. The sound effects can be switched between two (fairly generic) blaster-sound frequencies with a small toggle on his battery pack.

: Although Shockwave was depicted in the 1984 episodes of the animated series, he did not receive a toy release until 1985. Unlike the bulk of early Transformers that drew their molds from Takara Diaclone and Microchange toys, Shockwave's original form was first produced by ToyCo. As such, similar non-Transformer toys using the same mold were released in 1985, including a gray version called Astro Magnum and a Radio Shack exclusive called Galactic Man. A minor but amusing difference between the Radio Shack version, humorously called "Shackwave", and the Hasbro version, is that Shockwave's inconveniently placed trigger was remolded and appears less...inconvenient.

* A Cybertronian battle scene in Comics Bom-Bom (reprinted in Transformers Generations) depicts Shockwave not in purple, but in the original grey color scheme of the Astro Magnum/Galactic Man toy.

* In the cartoon, Shockwave would often switch between having two hands and having one hand, depending on the scene. Why he ever would have had a two-handed animation model in the first place is unknown. At one point, he is even depicted as wielding a miniature version... of himself.

* One of the earliest pictured versions of Action Master Shockwave features some awkward proportions and Fistfight with reversed colors. Another oddity of this version is that Shockwave's right hand is sculpted in an open position.

* Shockwave is, of course, the basis for the Energon Decepticon homage character Shockblast.

Jazz is Optimus Prime's right-hand man. Unlike Prowl, Prime's military strategist, Jazz responds well to change and improvisation. Whatever surprises the Decepticons spring, Jazz can deal. His position as Special Operations Officer calls for all the skills he possesses, yet he still has time to add some style into everything he does.

An admirer of Earth music of every kind, Jazz loves culture. More than most other Autobots, he has his finger on the pulse of Earth trends and lingo. Chances are, Jazz could tell you the status of almost any reality television show and each week's Top 40 list.

Jazz's personality makes him well-liked among the others of the Ark, especially Bumblebee. In fact, there is not one Autobot who doesn't like or admire Jazz.
Marvel Comics continuity
Generation 1
:(Events from UK-only stories are in italics.)

Jazz was one of the Autobots who crashed on Earth four million years ago, waking up in 1984. Jazz showed an affinity with human pop culture almost immediately, responding to Prowl's non sequitur assertion that his "logic center dictates the most advantageous course of action in any situation" with "Well, that is neat-o, Prowl."

Jazz's first foray into action came when the Decepticons attacked him and his fellow Autobots at Witwicky Auto Repairs, resulting in the kidnapping of Sparkplug Witwicky. Later, when Sparkplug was rescued and it was learned that the auto repairman had devised a way for the Decepticons to convert Earth fuel into a useable resource, the Autobots were enraged. Jazz shot a stream of fire to prevent Sparkplug's escape, causing the human to suffer a heart attack.

It was discovered that after the Autobots crashlanded on Earth, a rescue ship was sent after them which was buried somewhere in England. The Man of Iron, one of its crew, had awakened a number of times in England's history, and had become a local legend. Jazz, along with Trailbreaker, Mirage, and Bluestreak, were dispatched to England under Optimus Prime's supervision. Jazz befriended (and kidnapped) a young boy, Tommy Harker, whose dad worked at the castle where the Autobot rescue ship had been partially unearthed. After questioning the boy, it became apparent that the rescue ship must be destroyed. At the climax of a battle with the Decepticons over the buried ship, Jazz fired his weaponry down into it, and it was pulverized.

Generation 2
Animated continuity
:Voice Actor: Scatman Crothers, Wally Burr (US), Kōki Kataoka (Japan)

Blacker than the inside of a drive shaft -- uh, that's how Jazz described the north side of Cybertron. The slang-talking operations specialist was on a recon mission to ascertain Cybertron's bleak energy reserves, and his reports are what prompted the Autobot mission to search for new sources of energy outside of their home world. Jazz served as pilot for the Ark until severe asteroid turbulence knocked him from his seat. The Decepticons took advantage of the confusion and attacked, and both vessels and parties crash-landed on Earth.

Four million years later, in 1984, the Autobots and Decepticons awoke reformatted to fit in on the planet. Jazz traded in his sleek Cybertronian form for an even sleeker Porsche 935 Turbo. As a lieutenant to Optimus Prime Jazz was tasked to assemble task forces and special mission teams to counter the Decepticon threat. Jazz accompanied the first mission to an off-shore oil rig, where his wrist-mounted winch and grappling hook came in handy saving Optimus Prime. He used the same line to stop Prime from riding the rapids at Sherman Dam, and to pull Bluestreak and Ironhide from an unschedule lake swim.

Jazz is one of the main characters in the series up to season three, only making a few cameos with no lines. This is because Scatman Crothers died not long after the movie finished production.

Throughout season one, Jazz is seen giving orders and accompanying Optimus Prime on almost any mission they undertake. In season two, Jazz actually uses his light and sound show attack on at least two occasions.

Dreamwave comic continuity
8.2 million years ago, Jazz and Prowl met Grimlock in the remains of Praxus' Helix Gardens to discuss the worthiness of Optronix to lead the Autobots. Jazz later attended the Matrix-transfer ceremony at the Chamber of the Ancients; he attempted to save Optronix - now Optimus Prime - when he was attacked by Decepticons, but was restrained by Grimlock. When Prime defeated the assassins, Jazz was convinced of his worth.

Soon afterwards, Jazz questioned Prowl's decision to allow Prime to explore the depths of the planet alone, but was prevented from pressing the issue any further when Shockwave attacked Iacon with an army of Decepticons. Jazz helped direct the battle from the Decagon, but the defenders were soon overwhelmed. Jazz was forced to begin evacuating important artifacts and hardware from the city, but was unable to finish before the Decepticons overran the Decagon. He and a handful of Autobots made a desperate last stand, but were saved from extinction when Starscream activated the planetary engines, devastating the city and forcing Shockwave's army to retreat.

7.4 million years ago, Jazz witnessed the space bridge explosion that seemingly killed Prime and Megatron. After the subsequent fragmentation of the Autobot faction, Jazz remained with the Prowl-led Autobots. He accompanied a group of Autobots to investigate a new mobile battle base at the Praetorus Wharf, only to learn that the base was fully operational. Despite the arrival of reinforcements, the titan was too much for Jazz and his cohorts; only when Shockwave recalled Trypticon to the Neutral Territories were they saved them from certain doom.

Battered, Jazz and the others limped back to Iacon, only to be forced to repel an attack on Autobase by The Fallen. Although Jazz, Mirage, and Sunstreaker fought valiantly, the mysterious entity defeated them and achived his objective: freeing Blitzwing from captivity.

Jazz was among the crew of the Ark when it crashed on Earth, and awoke in 1984 to battle the Decepticons. After years of fighting, Jazz and the other Autobots took part in Operation Liberation in 1998, a joint human/Autobot operation that defeated and captured the Earth-bound Decepticons. However, the Ark II, which was meant to convey the Autobots, the captured Decepticons, and a number of humans back to Cybertron was sabotaged by General Robert Hallo, sending Jazz and his comrades to the bottom of the Arctic Ocean.

A few years later, Optimus Prime awoke Jazz and a number of other Autobots, to combat the sinister Lazarus. He aided in the cleanup of Lazarus' latest target, the SmitCo oil refinery, and then moved on to Lazarus' base, which had been taken over by a revived Megatron and his deadly 'metal virus'. Jazz and the others briefly battled the Decepticons, but were stopped in their tracks when Hallo dropped a nuclear bomb on them. The virus absorbed most of the blast, leaving the Transformers unharmed, but continued to expand across the countryside. Jazz remained behind with a team to combat the virus, while Optimus Prime took a contingent of warriors to combat Megatron in San Francisco. Armed with Wheeljack-designed blasters to combat the virus, Jazz and his squad fought bravely, despite the blasters draining their energy and the well-meaning interference of the Canadian Army. But soon the virus overwhelmed them, forcing Wheeljack to sacrifice himself to destroy it. Jazz mourned over Wheeljack's fallen form.

Some time later, Jazz participated in a battle in Alaska over possession of an escape pod containing Scourge, only to be forced to flee with the other Autobots when Shockwave arrived from Cybertron, proclaiming a new era of peace. While Optimus Prime and a number of other Autobots surrendered to Shockwave's lieutenant Ultra Magnus, Jazz was left behind on Earth to command a small team of Autobots. After Magnus and Prime had departed, Jazz, Brawn, and Windcharger returned to the battlefield, but found no trace of the pod or Scourge.
Fiction
Kiss Players
:Voice actress: Yui Kano

Shaoshao's parents ran a Chinese restaurant in New York. It was there that she met Marissa Faireborn and the two became good friends. Later, apparently deeply jealous and resentful of Marissa's romantic attachment to Optimus Prime, she joined the anti-Transformers Earth Defense Command in Japan. Seen as a rising star in the organization, she was not pleased when she was assigned to the Kiss Player team and partnered with the Autrooper designated "Ne 04" (the 4th unit of Ne squad) under the command of Amaou.

Shao quickly became known as one of the E.D.C.'s most skilled Kiss Players, able to power up her Autrooper partner to levels far beyond those of her teammates. The other squad members respected her abilities greatly, and at least one, Ringo, may have developed a crush on her.

On one mission, Shao was sent to investigate a Transformers-related subway explosion. Following the incident, while still merged with her Autrooper partner, she happened upon a Legion member menacing a frightened young woman. She was able to briefly repel the attack before her Kiss Player time limit was reached and she was ejected from the Autrooper, unconscious and naked apart from her signature padlocked collar.

Badly damaged by the Legion's tube-shaped projectile tongue, the Autrooper turned to the young woman, Atari Hitotonari, and demanded that she kiss it or die, guilt-tripping her with the possibility of what would happen if she failed to act. Atari did indeed kiss the Autrooper, merging with it and swiftly beheading the Legion. The E.D.C. determined that Atari was an even more powerful Kiss Player than Shaoshao and promptly recruited her.

Shao apparently remained with the E.D.C. long enough to meet the new recruit and make a lasting impression on her. At some point soon thereafter, however, she suddenly awoke to find herself suspended in a tube in the basement of E.D.C. headquarters. She was bound with straps, naked apart from her collar and squad armband, and her stomach had been scrawled with "Ne-04" and the number "2045", which had also been written on the severed Legion head that hung over her head. Noticing that nearby tubes held similar heads and the partially-eaten bodies of Kiss Players from other squads, she panicked as the Legion head above her woke up and began to drool with hunger.

Suddenly, Hot Rod came crashing through the roof like a comet, just in the time to rescue her! In their escape, all that Shao was able to find to wear was a China dress. Fortunately, Hot Rod stole Marissa's underwear for her during a battle with Optimus Prime.

Now, partnered with Hot Rod, Shaoshao roams Japan. Together, they battle Legion, the E.D.C. and Optimus Prime, while taking time out for fishing and martial arts practice. Although she despairs of Hot Rod's lack of discipline and his obsession with kissing her, Shao admits to greatly enjoying the sensation induced by kissing her robot partner. However, she claims that she is only using his power until she can get Marissa back from Prime.

Kiss Play Position
In the wake of the final battle, Shao-Shao, Atari and Marissa formed a singing idol group called "Kiss Players" with the cassette Transformers Glit, Sundor and Rosanna. As they performed at the Brave Maximus Fortress stop of their world tour, the Sparkbots Stardust, Angela and Zangetsu appeared and instructed the three humans to kiss them. Complying, they were teleported to Sherman Dam in the year 1985, just in time to witness a historic battle.
Skywarp's not so bright, so he's worthless as a warrior without supervision. Mostly, he uses his teleportation power for immature pranks on both friend and foe. He was deactivated when it crashed on Earth, and he lay dormant for four million years.
It's hard to tell. Plight of the Bumblebee!
He served the Decepticon cause up until he was deactivated while battling Omega Supreme and placed in prison stasis at Autobot headquarters.
The Autobots took Skywarp out of stasis, painted him to look like Starscream and sent him stumbling toward Galvatron with a tape-recorder of Starscream's voice on his back. Galvatron, still sore about Starscream tossing him out of Astrotrain during his Megatron days, shot and killed Skywarp. Galvatron then realized that if he killed Starscream in the past then there's no way he could have killed Starscream in the future. Believing he was in an alternate past and thus nothing he did there would effect his personal timeline, Galvatron hurried back to his proper time.
Skywarp was one of the elite Decepticons that accompanied Megatron in infiltrating the Ark four million years ago. Upon crash-landing on Earth, the Decepticons and Autobots were dormant for four million years, until volcanic activity stirred them into consciousness. Skywarp was the first of the Ark's Transformers to be reformatted and awakened by Teletraan-1. Now an F-15 fighter jet, Skywarp next dragged Megatron's body into the reformatting rays of the Ark's computer.

Since the Decepticons were so badly short-staffed during their early days on Earth, Skywarp was usually involved in whatever crazy plot for universal domination Megatron was hatching. This included attacks on an off-shore oil rig, Sherman Dam and the ruby crystal mines of Burma. When the Decepticons escaped the Burma operation with a cache of energon cubes, Skywarp requested permission from Megatron to teleport in order to scare off Autobot pursuers. Teleporting behind the strangely-airborne duo of Ironhide and Bluestreak, Skywarp pasted the ornery old Autobot with a heat-seeking missle, knocking him out of the sky that he probably shouldn't have been able to fly around in.

Skywarp continued to serve the Decepticons for many more years, never really doing anything notable. His teleportation power did come in use when he was needed to sneak up on the Autobots (who were all in vehicle mode) and zap them with the transfixatron.

In 2005, Skywarp was badly injured during the battle of Autobot City. Though he escaped with the rest of his comrades on board Astrotrain, he was tossed out so that the others would be able to make it back to Cybertron. Skywarp's body was gathered by Unicron and used to make the lone "Armada" warrior who was never seen again.
Teleportation is a dangerous tool in the hands of a capable adversary. Thankfully for the Autobots, it is Skywarp who possesses this ability. Skywarp's not so bright, so he's worthless as a warrior without supervision. Mostly, he uses his teleportation power for immature pranks on both friend and foe. He takes a charmingly puerile angle at thuggery, so his pranks are well-received amongst his Decepticon peers. (Excepting the victim, of course.)

Because, come on, a surprise push down a staircase is hilarious.
Skywarp was one of Megatron's troops who attacked the Ark during its mission to clear a path for Cybertron through an asteroid field. He was deactivated when it crashed on Earth, and he lay dormant for four million years. When he and his fellow Decepticons awoke, Skywarp was given a new altmode, that of an Earth jet. The Transformers (comic issue) He aided the Decepticons in their building of their new base constructed of parts from Harrison Nuclear Power Plant and joined in their attack on Sparkplug Witwicky's auto repair shop. After the successful abduction of Sparkplug Witwicky, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Starscream defended their base from Autobots, though Gears and Spider-Man were able to sneak through and rescue Sparkplug. Prisoner of War!

When Starscream fired upon his teammate Ravage for eavesdropping on his plot to overthrow Megatron, Skywarp and the other Decepticons sought deadly revenge on the Decepticon Air Commander. The Enemy Within!, part 2 Though Starscream escaped, the Decepticons soon regrouped to attack the Ark, but their battle was ended prematurely when Auntie, the Ark's computer systems, magnetized the walls, immobilizing both factions. Raiders of the Lost Ark Skywarp also travelled with the Decepticons to the United Kingdom, where he and his teammates attempted to learn about a mysterious Autobot rescue ship buried under a castle. An initial attack on the Autobots left Skywarp seriously wounded by a bomb from Bluestreak. Man of Iron: Part 3

Though Sparkplug Witwicky was able to devise a way for the Decepticons to convert Earth fuel into a useable substance, he also poisoned the result, so Skywarp and his fellow Decepticons were immobilized at the climax of their would-be final battle with the Autobots. The Last Stand The Decepticon Shockwave took command of the Decepticons and the Ark shortly thereafter, and nursed Skywarp and his comrades back to full health. Skywarp may have helped Shockwave attempt to capture and brainwash Bumblebee into a Decepticon, or it may have been Thundercracker without red stripes. It's hard to tell. Plight of the Bumblebee!

He served the Decepticon cause up until he was deactivated while battling Omega Supreme and placed in prison stasis at Autobot headquarters.

When Galvatron traveled back from the year 2006 to build a super weapon to destroy Unicron, Skywarp was a key player in the defeat of the mad Decepticon. Sorta.

Way to take one for the team, Skywarp.

: Sharing a mold once again with Thundercracker, Skywarp transforms into a white Dassault Rafale fighter jet with spring-loaded one-step transformation from jet to robot. The two halves of his rifle store in his lower legs. Like all Machine Wars toys, Thundercracker was an exclusive to Kay-Bee stores and related stores like Toy Liquidators.

: This mold is also used by Beast Wars II Dirge, Robots in Disguise Skyfire, and Robot Masters Wing Stun.

Universe
* Skywarp (Deluxe, 2003)

:Universe Skywarp is a redeco of Beast Machines Jetstorm in his G1 colours. He transforms into a Cybertronic fighter jet, armed with two projectile launchers that can fire orange energon bolts.

: His Spark crystal has a Decepticon sigil tampographed on top of it.

Smallest Transformers
* Skywarp (2003)
: Japanese ID number: GTF X-1

: Smallest Transformers Skywarp was a very small-scale simplication of the original Starscream toy, retaining most of its functionality and accessories, except for his long null-rays.

: This mold was redecoed from Starscream, was repainted into Thundercracker and retooled into Thust.

Robot Masters
* Skywarp & Thundercracker (Multi-pack, 2005)

: Robot Masters Skywarp is a redeco of Starscream from the same series, a smaller yet more advanced version of the original toy, adding more articulation and reducing the amount of part-forming required. He was available only in a two-pack with Thundercracker, which also came with a Decepticon sigil pin. This set was the very last product released in the Robot Masters line, and wasn't even strictly sold in a box from that series; instead, it used a modified e-Hobby Generation 1 reissue box, with only a small corner tab noting its Robot Masters origin from the front.

Classics
* Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp (Multi-pack, 2006)

: Classics Skywarp transforms into an F-15 Eagle fighter jet, though with an F-14 Tomcat canopy. Like his original Generation 1 toy, he is a black and purple redeco of Starscream. As with most Classics toys, he features a heat-sensitive rubsign.
Trivia
*A commercial for Transformers reflective iron-on patches advertised the "Prizes in Disguise" competition. When the iron-on patch was used, it was possible to instead find an instant win ticket for a Transformers voice changer (of the Enemy variety) - or to have a party with "life size" Transformers! Among the "life size" Transformers shown were Jazz and Skywarp. In all likelyness, you did not party with them.

Is there any more information on this? I tried does some web searching but all I found was one lonely fanfic. My eyes! The Google does nothing!

Seems likely to me that it's named after Kato, Bruce Lee's character from The Green Hornet. And of course it coincidentally sounds like the Metallikats from Swat Kats, if anybody cares about that. - GW<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>
