This isn't unprecedented at all. When a line has a limited number of characters, there's going to be multiple versions. I know I've already found some Wave 2 stuff (Robot Heroes and Real Gear guys, mainly). If we know what's in Wave 2, i.e., EE or BBTS or someone has an assortment listing, is it a problem to list it? -hx 19:15, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
:The "coming soon" spoiler policy is mostly just for stuff stolen from a factory, heard from a friend of a friend who works at ILM, that leaked script which is absolutely totally the real deal I swear, or Bodycount. The club stuff we withhold out of respect; everything else is so we don't try to post information when there aren't actually reliable sources. Speculation, unreliable information, and stuff that's warrant to change really has no place here.
Wave I+II?
Just a random through--someone somewhere said the current wave (Concept Bumblebee/Deluxe Arcee/Dreadwing) was actually Wave III, with Waves I and II being released simultaneously (Wave II, figure-wise, consisting of solely Wreckage and Swindle). This leaves only characters that actually appeared in the movie, which I suppose makes sense, but is there any credence to this?

Update, OP and above poster here--I was at Wal-Mart today, and went into the Garden Center (local Wallyworld keeps new shipments/overstock of toys there--don't ask.) with the hope of finding that box of CLassics I saw a week ago and hadn't been put out yet. Instead I found a box marked "TRA MOVIE DELUXE WAVE 05 07." Upon opening it (They don't mind. Honest.) I found a Dropkick, Payload, Jazz (<s>maybe</s> probably two, didn't look quite as hard as I should have), Concept Bumblebee, Recon Barricade and two Dreadwings. This throws off the entire chart above, unless of course Hasbro refers to that Wave 0 as Wave 1. Which would make sense.

I guess what I'm trying to say is internally Hasbro called the protoform wave Wave 1, and Concept Bumblebees are shipping again. 69.2.169.43 22:28, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

"Wave" numbering makes no sense
It's inconsistent with Hasbro's internal numbering, and so is the idea of listing toys from different size classes as part of the same "wave". Essentially, the numbers in this list are randomly attributed because some toys happened to be available in stores roughly around the same time. Also, store exclusives (other than the Target Scouts) are missing completely, even though at least some of them (Target "G1" Starscream and Jazz, for example) are considerably different from their mass retail counterparts. Essentially, this list looks like it was made by someone who doesn't know how distribution works, but tries to explain why certain toys were available in stores at certain times.

Furthermore, yes, Swindle and Bonecrusher are officially a different wave than the one that originally contained Jazz, Barricade etc. (even though they're still included in the Swindle/Bonecrusher wave in smaller quantities). The reason for this is that Hasbro shipped out several waves even before the official street date, and thus stores started stocking them at the same time. Officially per Hasbro, wave 1 is multiples of Protoform Prime/Starscream, wave 2 is Bumblebee/Barricade/Jazz/Brawl/Scorponok/Wreckage, and wave 3 is Swindle/Bonecrusher with some more of Bumblebee/Barricade/Jazz/Brawl.--Nevermore 13:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Wave 6 is wrong, I can tell you from prying open a Wave 5 box that Recon Barricade and Dropkick are with Final Battle Jazz, Longarm, and Payload.
Speaking of Payload, I figured he was based off the transforming tow truck, if not in exact form, than in spirit.
Other minor quibbles: Wave 3.5? Is that official? Ultimate Bumblebee appears to be a par of the Real Gears line, as well. Simple text size increase should fix this. 69.2.169.43 15:44, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Final Battle Jazz, Longarm and Payload definitely popped up before Recon Barricade and Dropkick were first sighted, but only one or two weeks was between those shipments due to the INSANE frequency of movie wave circulation. I don't remember offhand where I saw Voyager "Wave 3.5" named as such... And checking Entertainment Earth, it now appears that Megatron debuted in Wave 2 revision 2 and Prime/Megs are wave 3?!? Not to seem like I'm picking bones... but perhaps we shouldn't use them as a source? Warehouse boxes with Wave 5 numbering and figures have been confirmed. I just don't see the logic in using EE numbers when we have Hasbro's (see discussion above). 69.2.169.43 22:17, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Japanese line
How shall we handle Takara's version of the line? Even though 90% of the toys were identical to their US counterparts down to the packaging, there's still Hyper Hobby exclusive clear EZ/Legends Bumblebee, Lawson exclusive metallic Deluxe Bumblebee and the C3x convention exclusive Fusion Cluster editions of Protoform Prime and Starscream, which are worthy to be pointed out at the very least. So should we make a) a full list of Japanese toys, b) a small blurb about how the line was handled in Japan in general and then list those exclusives, or c) ONLY list the exclusives, without giving them any further context (since therewere also some other Japanese exclusives that were simply US toys sold as exclusives because Takara didn't see them viable as mass releases)?--Nevermore 16:55, 15 September 2007 (UTC)<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>

:So. better.--Nevermore 13:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

I noticed the BK toys are horribly misslisted. Megatron has his under "toys" (where it should be). But Starscreams is under "merchandise". All others are missing.
