Filthy both physically and verbally, '''Dirt Boss''' intentionally skips maintenance checkups to keep his engine loud and misfiring, despite the risks this poses to him. Foul-mouthed and foul-smelling, he enjoys shocking and annoying those around him. Few can stand to be around him for any length of time; even his [[Race Mini-Con Team]] allies, who are likely the only ones who willingly spend ''any'' time with him at all, occasionally need to just get away.

And yet, Dirt Boss might actually be the ''smartest'' of the team, with extensive knowledge of high-level physics and entropy studies. Not that he ever really looks for a useful application for this information... but it certainly does give some insight into his attitude.

Dirt Boss combines with the rest of the Race Mini-Con Team to form the [[Skyboom Shield]].

Dirt Boss was one of the first two Mini-Con panels belonging to the Race Team that were captured by the Decepticons. {{storylink|Overmatch}} {{storylink|Conspiracy}} He finally came on-line when the Decepticons gathered all three panels, and joined with Downshift and Mirage to form the Skyboom Shield under [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]'s control. {{storylink|Reinforcement}}

In the next battle, Megatron assembled both the [[Air Defense Mini-Con Team (Armada)|Air Defense Team]] and the Race Team into the two most powerful weapons in the universe. Armed with both the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and the Skyboom Shield, he toyed with [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] until his overconfidence caused him to lose his grip on the Shield. Prime's Mini-Con partner [[Sparkplug (Armada)|Sparkplug]] then "locked on" to the Skyboom Shield and brought it under Prime's control, thwarting Megatron's killing strike with the Saber and balancing the powers between the two sides. {{storylink|Decisive Battle}}

Because the Skyboom Shield was in such demand by the Autobots to protect them from the Star Saber (and later the [[Requiem Blaster]]), Dirt Boss and the Race Team appeared quite infrequently as individuals. After [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] and [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] rescued [[Firebot (Armada)|Firebot]] from [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], Dirt Boss was among the Mini-Cons who welcomed the new arrival to the Autobots. {{storylink|Mars (episode)|Mars}} Later, Dirt Boss and the Race Team went for a walk with the kids to catch some fresh air. Unfortunately, their little stroll happened just as [[Billy]] and [[Fred]] reported that [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]] had met with Starscream. Squidhead had asked for the Skyboom Shield Mini-Cons as collateral for letting Starscream back into the Decepticons, so their sudden disappearance from the base didn't look too good for the former Decepticon. The Autobots' distrust for Starscream in part led to his decision to take Thrust up on his offer, and so even after [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] uncovered the kids and the Race Team and cleared his name, Starscream stole the Skyboom Shield for Megatron and returned to the Decepticons. {{storylink|Crack}}

Dirt Boss and the Race Team had little time to act as individuals after that, remaining powerlinxed as the Skyboom Shield while the Decepticons used the shield as one-third of the [[Hydra Cannon]], before it was stolen by Thrust and used to provide power to the heart of Unicron. The Autobots and Decepticons each detected Payload's Mini-Con panel on a deserted island, and proceeded to do battle in the area. {{storylink|Detection}} Payload was eventually activated by his Space Mini-Con Team partner, [[Sky Blast]], who called for the three of them to activate and join together as the [[Requiem Blaster]]. They assembled for [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] and fired a massive blast into the ocean as he fell from a great height, creating enough kickback to slow his descent safely. {{storylink|Desperate}}

Payload and his teammates briefly ran away from the Autobots, because they didn't want to be used for combat. After Optimus Prime rescued them from [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], he promised the Mini-Cons they would only join the battles against the Decepticons if they desired it -- no Autobots would force them to fight. {{storylink|Runaway}}

True to his word, Optimus Prime left Payload and the others back at headquarters when the Autobots were called into battle against the Decepticons, with [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]] watching over them. A planned [[redeco]] of the ''[[Armada (toyline)|Armada]]'' [[Street Speed Mini-Con Team]] member [[Backtrack (Armada)|Backtrack]], Override transforms into a Cadillac LXR luxury car. The coloration of the entire Team is a "one-off" of the colors of the [[Super Stunt Mini-Con Team]].

Ultimately, Override was never released at retail. Originally intended to be packed in with ''Energon'' [[Ultra Magnus (Energon)|Ultra Magnus]], the Street Speed redeco Team was displayed at [[OTFCC 2003]], and the original versions were even pictured on the original Ultra Magnus boxes (Magnus himself appeared in [[Overload (Armada)|Overload]] colors on the box, as he and the ''Armada'' redecoes [[Treadbolt]] and [[Rapid Run (Energon)|Rapid Run]] were very late additions to the very early part of the line). In the end, the Team was replaced with a redeco of the [[Space Mini-Con Team]]. Later releases of Ultra Magnus' box in other markets were altered to reflect this change.

Since [[Hasbro]] had gone through the process of [[trademark]]ing the names, they were later used in the ''[[Cybertron (toyline)|Cybertron]]'' line for the three most prominent residents of [[Velocitron]].

The same mold is used by [[Redline]] and [[Side Burn (Armada)|Side Burn]], and a [[retool]]ed version was used for [[Dice]].

But he also tends to put himself in far more danger than he needs to in order to spare others, when they're just as willing to take the risks. Sometimes he needs reminding that he can't save ''everyone'' and can't do it all by himself.

He and [[Falcia]] have had a long-standing clash of opinion about how to achieve Mini-Con independence. Redline wants to go it alone and find their own way, while Falcia is all for joining with the [[Autobot|Autobots]] and wiping out the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. Stalwart and brave, he's determined to win Mini-Cons their freedom from the whims of [[Unicron|their dark creator]].

After the Mini-Cons were activated on Earth, Flat-Out and the [[Super Stunt Team]] began operating in California. They were attacked by mysterious flying "[[Fixer Bug]]s" on the city streets, and fled into an underground parking garage. Working with what was available, Flat-Out and [[Servo]] helped [[Redline]] powerlink with a nearby car, evolving a turbo cannon out of the hood to annihilate their attackers. That car belonged to their new human friend, [[Stella Holley]]. {{storylink|Linkage Part 1}} Redline created a psychic link with Stella so that she could understand their binary language, and the Mini-Cons took refuge in their new friend's basement. {{storylink|Linkage Part 2}}

In the Deccan plateau of India, the Super Stunt Team, Stella, and their recovered ally [[Rollbar (Armada)|Rollbar]] checked out a [[bulk]]-sized starship, hoping to salvage technology from it. As Flat-Out and Rollbar moved closer to examine the ship, the evil [[Speed Chaser Team]] attacked the others with their Fixer Bugs. {{storylink|Linkage Part 3}} Flat-Out came to the rescue, using his arm-blasters and repulsor unit to engage in aerial target practice. It was still a close fight, however, until the bulk [[Scavenger (Armada)|Scavenger]] emerged from his ship and powerlinked with Rollbar, using their combined firepower to drive off the evil Mini-Cons. He agreed to leave his ship for Flat-Out and the others, providing they forgot they ever saw him. It was a good deal, except that Rollbar abandoned his fellow Mini-Cons to journey with Scavenger. {{storylink|Linkage Part 4}} Afterwards, the Super Stunt Team explained the Mini-Con servility program to Stella, and how their will can be subsumed by their larger partners. Next, Redline and Flat-Out tried to intervene when the Speed Chaser Team attacked their old allies, [[Falcia]] and [[Combusta]]. Those two were saved, but the Mini-Con panel containing Falcia's friend [[Twirl]] was damaged in the firefight. {{storylink|Linkage Part 6}} Flat-Out assisted Redline and Falcia in entering the [[Linkage]] to restore Twirl to life. Stella got an idea and retrieved her car, giving Flat-Out and Falcia something to powerlink with themselves.
