Why nothing later?
It seems odd that we've found nothing later than the Monsterbots but nearly everything prior. Forgive my ignorance are these patents only made public after a certain amount of time? That might explain why there's nothing from the Pretender years or after? If not anyone have any idea why the info's so "Backheavy" chronologicly speaking? --76.28.76.206 07:47, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
:I was wondering this too. If you search for Hasbro and then sort by date, it only lists 4 patents for all of 2009. Even the US Patent Office site only seems to return 5 results for Hasbro in 2009. --abates 08:29, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
::Don't know. It could simply be that no one at the Patent Office has got around to posting them online. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth, though. This is a simply amazing amount of data. --Khajidha 08:45, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
:::Out of curiousity have we started to do pages for the "inventors" and wich figures each created?
::::We may already have pages for some of these designers, if we don't we should make them. I'm planning on resorting this entire page following the checklists for each year, that way we can easily see what remains to be found. --Khajidha 10:42, 14 September 2010 (EDT)
What hasn't turned up is very interesting...
No 1984 mini-vehicles, even though their 1986 retools have been found. Reflector is a no-show, but all the Microman Gun Robos and Egg Robos have been found. No Twin Twist or Whirl, even though Topspin and Roadbuster have been found. Oddly, Roadbuster and Jetfire are the only non-Takara TFs that have turned up (no Omega Supreme, Shockwave, Deluxe Insecticons or Sky Lynx). No "Movie" characters except Ultra Magnus, who is really the last of the Diaclone legacy characters. The 1988 line is represented by the combiner cassettes and one each of the Sparkabots, the Autobot Double Targetmasters and the Autobot Small Headmasters. Notably, 1988's Seacons are the only Scramble City style team NOT represented here. And then...nothing. --Khajidha 11:56, 17 September 2010 (EDT)
:It is very odd and interesting how abruptly things stop appearing. One wonders if there's either a) a timeframe for release that has not passed or b)perhas at that point some new law changed or came into effect that altered how things were catagorized or something. The other posssibility is that it's an artifact of however the database was created. Some quirk of data entry at the place of downloading that's either left some out or lead to them all not yet being entered digitally? I don't know, I'd love to see the pretender concept or some such... --99.69.51.218 12:01, 17 September 2010 (EDT)

69.251.191.26: BLOCKTOWN WAS NEVER RELEASED. Yeesh!

Block Town was an unreleased Takara line that was planned to follow the Japanese release of Generation 2 in 1996. The line would combine Transformers toys with Takara's Dia-Block building-block line (compatible with --and competing with-- Lego blocks), giving the Transformers small bases that could be rebuilt into battle stations.

The first wave were planned to be four small toys released at 380 yen a piece (roughly $3.50 US at the time); individually-packaged members of the Micromaster Rescue Patrol with small garage-style bases. The Transformers toys themselves did not appear to have any notable changes from their Generation 1 incarnations.

* Boater with marina
* Fire with fire station
* Holi with police station
* Pīpō with hospital

The next releases would be six sets, redecoes of 3/4ths of the Axelerators and Skyscorchers (all as Autobots) were displayed at a Japanese toy show.

* TFBT-1 Radar Set (with Afterburner redeco)
* TFBT-2 Control Set/Control Tower Set (with Terradive redeco)
* TFBT-3 Airport Building Set (with Windrazor redeco)
* TFBT-4 Gasoline Station Set (with Rapido redeco)
* TFBT-5 Garage Set (with Carzap, a Windbreaker redeco)
* TFBT-6 Signal/Traffic Lights Set (with Turbofire redeco)

Since the Axelerators and Skyscorchers are gang-molded, it is possible that two more sets were in the works using the last two members of those teams. If that were the case, Skram would have been red with white robot parts, while Eagle Eye would have been a lighter shade of green with blue parts.

The Takara Transformers Generations book shows packaging for the Garage set within one of its "unreleased items" sub-sections. This shot reveals that the robot packed in would have been named "Carzap". It is currently unknown what the names of the other five sets' robots were going to be, and if they too would also be alterations of the molds' European names (Windbreaker was simply "Zap" in the Eurpoean market).

In March of 2005, a supposed Takara upcoming product list was leaked, which included the Block Town sets. However, the sets didn't see release then either, nor did some of the other items on the list.

Hasbro would much later revisit the combination of Transformers and building blocks with their Built to Rule line, with only marginally more success... in that Built to Rule even made it to stores.

Microtransformers: American Rescue Team
Although Block Town was canceled, the four Rescue Patrol Team members were still released in 1996, but instead as part of Microtransformers: American Rescue Team, which paired each Micromaster with a jig saw-style floor plan. This release causes some confusion in the West, where it has sometimes been mistaken as a Block Town release.
