==Synopsis==
Following [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]'s [[Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime|departure]] from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus]] publicly announces his intent to do likewise aboard the ''[[Lost Light]]'', following the map found within the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] in hopes of locating the [[Knights of Cybertron]]. [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] predicts virtually no [[Autobot]]s will respond to his open invitation to join him, but Rodimus winds up with a little over two hundred recruits, including (much to [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]]'s consternation) [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]—who believes he is getting old, a concern punctuated by his failure to save the life of a [[NAIL]] who has committed suicide as a political protest—[[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]]—the loss of whose scientific talents particularly infuriates Prowl, prompting him to order the loading of a mysterious cargo onto the ''Lost Light''—and Chromedome's friend, [[Rewind]]. [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]], of course, has misgivings about nearly every recruit, but Rodimus is thrilled to have so many.

In the skies above Cybertron, [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] grieves in his own way for the loss of the world he had known and all the memories he made there. Detecting a life-sign resembling [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]'s, he investigates a small shack, only to find the unhinged [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] talking to a collection of [[Sweep]] corpses that he has strung up inside. Cyclonus enters and interrupts him just as he is about to burn down the [[energon]]-soaked building, and Whirl immediately attacks him, professing innocence and explaining the bodies were already dead: he had merely collected them. Cyclonus, for his part, doesn't care in the slightest, but can't convince Whirl of this fact.

Elsewhere, [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] is running security checks on the Autobots who have signed up to join the ''Lost Light'': [[Brainstorm]], carrying a mysterious briefcase but exempted from security checks by Rodimus; [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]], in the mood for "a good quest"; and [[Rung]], whom Red Alert does not recognize at first, despite having been a patient of his for six centuries. Rung tempts fate by commenting on his knack for staying out of trouble: before the sentence is even finished, Cyclonus and Whirl's running battle swoops through the area, and Rung winds up with his forearm cleaved off by Cyclonus's wing.

Ratchet, Chromedome and Rewind, meanwhile, are making for the ''Lost Light'' through the [[Mitteous Plateau]], but are running behind schedule due to Rewind's lack of a vehicular [[alternate mode]], a trait of his that Chromedome has never understood. Just as the group are about to start having an argument about the validity of alt mode variety, Cyclonus and Whirl come crashing down out of the sky, their battle at an end with Whirl the victor. Whirl spins a few quick lies and is about to deliver a killshot when a sudden, unexpected energon explosion from beneath the ground blows him to bits. Peering into the blast crater, the Autobots find [[Tailgate (G1)|Tailgate]], who, unbeknownst to them, is a Cybertronian from six million years ago who was supposed to be on the ''[[Ark (G1)#IDW Generation 1 comics|Ark I]]'', but became trapped underground in a subsidence. He has spent the past six thousand millennia periodically going offline and reawakening, unaware that any time has passed, until he was just now finally able to detonate the energon rations he had with him in bid for freedom. Panicking and passing out before he can tell anyone any of this due to his belief he has killed Whirl, Tailgate is brought aboard the ''Lost Light'' by the Autobots, as are Whirl and Cyclonus. Rewind takes advantage of the brief confusion to slip off and purchase some golden discs from [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]].

Soon after, the ''Lost Light'' takes off, and Bumblebee complains to Prowl that he thought he had a plan... at which point the ship is crippled by a mysterious explosion that forces the ship to [[quantum jump]] before preparation is complete, hurling it off to some far corner of the galaxy. A fifth of the ship's crew is sucked out into space before the breached hull repairs itself, and Rodimus orders them to set down on a desolate nearby planet, where they watch as the Autobots come raining down, burning up as they enter the atmosphere. All in all, as Rodimus succinctly puts it: "Not a good start."

And back on Cybertron, as Bumblebee sits in horrified mourning, back in Prowl's quarters a scrambled transmission plays. A transmission from one of the ''Lost Light''<nowiki>'</nowiki>'s crew. A transmission that has been sent back in time, from the future. But it has arrived too late, and now Rodimus will never hear the warnings of the dangers that await them...

Millions of years ago, Omega Supreme was a member of the legendary [[Guardian robot]]s, and was charged with defending [[Crystal City]], the most spectacular city on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. He befriended the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]], the city's creators. However, as it would happen, the Constructicons were attacked by [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]]'s [[Robo-Smasher]] and converted into [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. The now-evil Constructicons convinced Omega to leave his post to help defend the capital city, and promised to look after the city in his stead. When he left, they demolished the Crystal City, to Omega Supreme's horror. He hunted them down, trapping them in a pit, and tried to reverse the reprogramming done by the Robo-Smasher. Though he appeared to be successful, the programming was irreversible, and Megatron had given the Constructicons a new combined form named [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. The treacherous Constructicons lured Omega into an ambush and in their new form attempted to use the Smasher to convert him into a Decepticon, but he destroyed the machine and they fled before he recovered from the attack.

Some time after these events transpired — after the launch of the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot]] and [[Nemesis (G1)|Decepticon starships]] — the Constructicons left Cybertron in a starship and tried to locate the missing Megatron. Omega Supreme pursued them, "for millions of years, across the galaxies"; eventually, the Constructicons rejoined Megatron on [[Earth]], and Omega Supreme followed them there, still seeking revenge. {{Storylink|The Secret of Omega Supreme}}

For the most part, he acted as inter-planetary transport for the Autobots, as well as their last line of defense. While he was preparing for a round of target practice, Omega lost contact with [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] when [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] began broadcasting the music from a concert over the Autobot communications frequencies. The interference resulted in Megatron getting away clean with the [[Voltronic Galaxer]], which necessitated a trip to the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] to retrieve it. Omega took Optimus, [[Powerglide (G1)|Powerglide]], [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] and [[Carly]]. There, he got to battle [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]], who taunted him for being outdated technology, but changed his tune after Omega triumphed. {{Storylink|Blaster Blues}} When the Decepticons found a pool of [[electrum]], rendering them invulnerable, they attacked Omega Supreme. His weapons had no effect on them, and the titan fell. Later the Autobots got the opportunity for payback when they located the electrum pool and used it themselves, gaining the advantage as the Decepticons' electrum coating wore off. {{Storylink|The Golden Lagoon}}

After [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]] crashed on [[Titan (moon)|Titan]], Omega carried [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] there on a rescue mission. Unfortunately he just barely had enough energy to land, and was left teetering on the edge of a cliff overhanging a lake of deadly liquid. The moon was fortunately rich in [[energy crystal]]s, and Perceptor was able to use them to repower Omega. The explosion of the crystal deposit caused the island they were on to begin to disintegrate, so Omega Supreme used his base mode to transport everyone across to safety. {{Storylink|The God Gambit}}

Omega Surpreme finally got his chance at revenge when the Constructicons started mining an asteroid that turned out to be the egg of an [[Asteroid bird alien|strange creature]]. Omega left the creature to its own devices, which would have resulted in it devouring [[San Francisco]]. However, Optimus Prime convinced Omega to lead the creature back to its asteroid, which would sustain it. Omega lost his chance at revenge, but he did his duty. {{Storylink|The Secret of Omega Supreme}}

After the energy pest [[Kremzeek]] took out most of the Autobots, Omega Supreme transported the survivors of his attack to [[Japan]] in an attempt to track down the creature. When they arrived, they were immediately beset by Kremzeek, however the Autobots remembered that Omega had not been coated with the insulating compound that was protecting them. Omega took to the air, but Kremzeek managed to reach him anyway, and he quickly crashed onto the Japanese beach. [[Bumblebee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Bumblebee]] promised they'd fix him up as soon as possible. {{storylink|Kremzeek!}}

The Autobots used Omega Supreme to follow the Decepticons back to Cybertron when Megatron intended to use [[Vector Sigma]] to create a new group of Decepticon warriors. After failing to stop the Decepticons from creating the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], the Autobots created a new team of their own to counter the new threat, the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]]. As Omega Supreme escaped Cybertron, he was hit by weapons fire from the [[Centurion droid]]s, and once he safely disembarked his passengers on Earth, he catastrophically exploded. {{Storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1}}

Though nominally allied with the Autobots, he remained outside of the conflict for fear of escalating it due to the firepower he commanded. Instead, he existed as a resource to Primes in times of doubt. Omega Supreme is one of the few living Transformers to remember the first ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]''. After the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s departure and Nova Prime's disappearance, Omega Supreme discovered a horrific creation of theirs: [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]]. He sealed the gestalt in a dimensionally-displaced prison to prevent it from devastating Cybertron and escalating the burgeoning conflict. Centuries later, Optimus Prime came to him for advice. While the two were talking, Monstructor — somehow freed from captivity — attacked. Omega Supreme told Optimus Prime the truth about himself, Nova Prime, and Monstructor. Omega's arrival on the battlefield almost instantly turned the tide, and he apologised for taking so long. Omega refused, steadfast in staying on Earth as long as Optimus Prime remained there. Besides, even if he was willing to help, he didn't have enough fuel to reach orbit anyway. The conversation was then interrupted when a squad of Decepticons attacked. {{storylink|New Arrivals, Old Encounters}} Soon afterwards, Omega Supreme found himself crammed into an entirely too small cave, as [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], the new Autobot leader, worried that [[Skywatch]] could easily find him out in the open. The tank forms his main body, the rocket forms his forearms, the track makes up most of his legs, while the gantry forms his feet and backpack, with extra track parts forming wings. The torso features a battery-operated motor which propels the tank around the track as its turret spins and flashes with orange light, or allows Omega to walk (very slowly) forward in robot mode. This motor is extremely susceptible to failure.

Oddly, they actually used footage from the ''Transformers'' commercial for Omega Supreme, so... what gives, France?

*According to [[Bob Budiansky]]'s notes at [[BotCon 2010]]<ref>[http://www.allspark.com/index.php?full=1&set_albumName=BotCon_2010_Sat_Panels&id=DSC05237&option=com_gallery&Itemid=4&include=view_photo.php Bob Budiansky's notes at BotCon 2010]</ref>, Omega Supreme was originally going to be named [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]. Why the name changed is uncertain, but since it was later applied to [[Autobot City]] in the [[The Planet-Eater!|Marvel adaption]] of the ''[[The Transformers: The Movie|Transformers]]'' movie before being used on the Headmaster, it seems someone ''really'' wanted to use it.

*Omega Supreme's name could be translated as "Last of the Best"; given his role as the "last line of defense", this is appropriate.

*In the cartoon, Omega Supreme can launch his rocket into space, leaving the remaining parts behind at his launch base, and then transform fully back to robot mode even though the majority of his body parts are separated from the rocket by a good planetary diameter or two (if not several light years). Indeed, sometimes his base mode is seen to be inexplicably awaiting his rocket mode at his destination, leading some to speculate that Omega (rather implausibly) has duplicate body parts on some other planets, "just in case". Some [[fanon]] alternatively holds that in cases such as these. Omega's non-rocket parts actually use [[Size changing|size-changing technology]] to shrink down and travel as cargo inside his rocket mode, which are then disgorged and enlarged before landing. Another theory is that the base is transported to [[subspace]], as some believe happens with Optimus Prime's trailer. Whatever helps you sleep at night...

*Although over half of the episodes from the Generation 1 cartoon featuring Omega were written by [[David Wise]] (including his showcase episode, "The Secret of Omega Supreme"), don't let that fool you into thinking Wise had a soft spot for Omega—he really didn't like him! In fact, the uncharacteristic eloquence displayed by Omega in "Secret" was actually a script error by Wise, who was unaware of Omega's trademark speech pattern and wrote the episode with normal dialogue. *At JoeCon 2011, Hasbro's [[Rik Alvarez]] hosted a "Treasures from the Hasbro Archives" panel, where he revealed that he had then-recently found a box in the company archives containing an assortment of artwork, concept boards, and proposals for what "could have been" in a series of Transformers/[[G.I. Joe (franchise)|G.I. Joe]] crossovers. Of these concepts, the only one shown at the panel were parts of an Omega Supreme that had been redecoed and intended for release in the G.I. Joe toyline (this was later shown again at [[BotCon 2011]], though no photos were allowed then). Whether these redecoed parts were intended for use as a "crossover" G.I. Joe/Transformers character or as a non-living G.I. Joe vehicle was unsaid.

*According to the [[Letters page (Marvel UK)|letters page]] of Marvel UK issue #285, [[External Forces!]], Omega is tougher than a "block of triple-strength [[durabyllium]] steel."

*"Omega Spreem" (the name of Omega Supreme's Action Master Elite form) is actually one possible transliteration of the Katakana (a Japanese syllabary used for foreign words and names) spelling of "Omega Supreme", suggesting that the name could possibly have resulted from the name "Omega Supreme" [[Engrish|going from English to Japanese, and then back to English again]]. ''Why'' it would have gone through this rigmarole, however, is unknown. The ''[[Transformers Vault]]'' book reveals more details for how this might have happened, without really ''explaining'' it: The design artwork for an unreleased standard (i.e. not Elite) [[Action Master]] version of Omega Supreme has his name (correctly spelled) written quite large on the top of the sheet in big black marker. However, there's also an illustrator's note written in very small pen/pencil next to the toy's design artwork, which misspells the character's name as "Omega Spreem", despite the correct spelling being in giant text directly above it (though to be fair, it's possible that the black marker text was added after the fact). When the toy was released, for ''some'' reason Hasbro used the "Omega Spreem" spelling. Hasbro UK moves in mysterious ways indeed.

*An alternate version of the Omega Supreme toy--either a Mechabot-1 or a knockoff--makes an appearance in Joseph Lai's film ''Golden Ninja Warrior''. It is sent by the villains to issue a threat. This version lacks any of the track add-ons.
