A '''Starscream clone''' is one of an army of (mostly) physically identical copies of [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]]. They have all of his abilities, with the added bonus of being extremely disposable. While there seem to be a large number of mass-produced clones, a handful have appeared which carry [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] energy signatures, have different colour schemes, and seem to embody various elements of Starscream's personality.

Starscream created the clones in a multi-step process. After [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] and [[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]] captured and then lost the original Starscream on the Moon, his sycophantic clone destroyed Prowl's shuttle and headed for Earth. The two bots followed him, but bumped into the cowardly clone first. After capturing him, Lockdown double-crossed Prowl and dragged the clone away. As the Autobots gave chase, the Sycophant appeared and offered to deal. Prowl wasn't having any of it, and after a brief skirmish, managed to get the [[stasis cuffs]] on him. Both Lockdown and the Autobots took the clones to an abandoned warehouse, where the Decepticons were waiting. As everyone was understandably shocked, some sort of program deactivated the clones' higher functions and opened their spark chambers, which were empty... except for a pair of powerful bombs. As Lockdown and the Decepticons made a break for it, Prowl welded his borrowed mods to the pair and launched them into the sky, where they exploded. The Decepticons were caught in the blast wave, but the city was saved. In the wreckage of the ''[[Nemesis (Animated)|Nemesis]]'', a disappointed but pragmatic Starscream consoled himself with the fact he still had plenty left. {{storylink|A Fistful of Energon}}

While Megatron was officially bringing the Constructicons into his army on Earth, Starscream was doing the same with his fifth clone on the Moon. Immediately after he brought his final clone on-line, however, the neurotic ensemble began giving him trouble, and he learned that each of them embodied a distilled facet of his personality: his cowardice, his sycophancy, his deceitfulness, his egomania...and one facet that warned him not to ask what she was. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I‎}}

After bringing the five clones to life, the Starscreams all flew to Earth after Megatron made the [[space bridge]]. Starscream attacked the Decepticons with his new army and lost two clones (along with Blurr) in a blob of cement, and soon after lost his head to Prof. Sumdac. Finally, the other Starscream clones decided he was unworthy to lead them and sided with Megatron, but after that they all had to attack [[Omega Supreme (Animated)|Omega Supreme]] and were easily defeated. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I‎I}}

The two clones who were warped into space with Blurr were able to escape their cement prison, but were left behind in space as Blurr darted away. {{storylink|TransWarped}}

The final Earthbound clone, Slipstream, kept a low profile after the disastrous encounter with Omega Supreme, but she eventually resurfaced when Optimus Prime was attempting to learn to fly. She pursued him assuming he was Starscream, and was quite confused when she realized she was actually confronting a flying Autobot. In an attempt to destroy [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], Starscream wired two of his clones ([[Clone number 3370318]] and [[Clone number 2716057]]) with explosives as part of a convuluted scheme involving [[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]], a bounty hunter, bringing them to the Decepticon leader. The plan made it that far, but due to interference from the Autobots (mainly [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]]), the clones exploded without killing anyone (except themselves). Observing the situation, Starscream took the failure in stride and declared that there was more to come from his Clone Army. {{storylink|The Cool Episode 6}}

Later, when the Autobots and Decepticons came into conflict over the [[space bridge#Animated cartoon|Space Bridge]], Starscream chose then as the most opportune time to unleash his Clone Army. Surprisingly, at the start of the battle Skywarp charged in without a look of terror on his face and even took a shot at Megatron. He stopped shooting when Megatron started to deflect the laser with his terrifying swords. When [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] started shooting at him, he mostly cowered and pleaded. [[Blurr (Animated)|Blurr]] got a pair of [[stasis cuffs]] on him, which absolutely terrified him, as he claimed that he had an irrational fear of stasis lock. But then both of them and [[Thundercracker (Animated)|Thundercracker]] were accidentally stuck in [[Mixmaster (Animated)|Mixmaster]]'s glue-like cement and hurled into the space bridge, their destination unknown. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part II}}

Skywarp's personal hell only continued on the other side of the space bridge. He was trapped in glue on some desolate planetoid with Blurr and Thundercracker, and the substance was seeping into his circuitry! Even worse, Blurr's idea to get out of the glue was to release short wave sonic pulses, which Thundercracker did, causing an explosion. He could have been hurt! Fortunately, he wasn't. He made sure to tell the Autobot how ''impressed'' he was with Prowl's use of the cuffs, so much so that he had to try the move out himself.

When the [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|superbly idiotic Sentinel Prime]] made a deal with the [[Lockdown (Animated)|great Lockdown]] to capture the other Decepticons that remained on Earth in exchange for probably some fantastic upgrades, Sunstorm was one of the first three he captured, though Sentinel received the credit for it. Sunstorm was eager to tell the Autobots about how fantastic his capture was, but Sentinel Prime cut him off by clamping his mouth shut. {{storylink|Five Servos of Doom|Five Servos of Doom}}

Once the shells were complete, Megatron had Lugnut and Starscream place a protoform in each structure to complete them physically and ordered Shockwave to get the codes from Arcee. As Shockwave prepared to force them from Arcee's cranium, Starscream knocked Megatron away in an attempt to get the codes for himself, only to be knocked away in turn by Lugnut, who was protecting his master and became the one to receive the actual codes. Megatron then claimed he had planned this: For him to activate the clones would cause their personalities to be based on his own, possibly leading them to betray him, while his "most loyal lieutenant" never would.

The activation codes Shockwave had gotten from Arcee were incomplete, however—missing a crucial security patch. As a result, the Lugnut Supremes didn't fly off at Megatron's command, and Lugnut himself had to be wired into Omega Supreme to control them directly. They set off for Earth as such, Megatron aboard the lead, with the aim of offlining the Earth Autobots once and for all. {{storylink|Endgame, Part I}}

Megatron ordered Lugnut to use them to destroy [[Sumdac Tower]], his former "prison", first. With a forcefield protecting it, they struggled, and [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] attacked—and by using the [[Magnus Hammer]], Optimus was able to crash them into [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]]. Dubbing the field test a "complete failure", Megatron ordered Lugnut to take them back to the Moon. However, Lugnut told Megatron that their flight capability had been disabled. Furious, Megatron simply ordered Lugnut to have them destroy the city... the Autobots... everything except him.

It got worse for the Decepticon leader when it turned out that one of the clones—the one he was aboard—had been completely neutralized. While he flew off to deal with Optimus Prime personally, the clones continued to rampage, unencumbered by the Autobots' efforts, until [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] and [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]] rebooted the original Omega Supreme on the Moon, who promptly severed Lugnut's link to the clones and ejected him.

Megatron knew Sari would use her [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]]-enhanced [[AllSpark Key|Key]] on Soundwave, which would allow him to upgrade... and ultimately become Megatron's new body. What Megatron didn't count on, though, was that the upgrades would actually make Soundwave self-aware and able to control other robots with sound. Additionally, Soundwave concluded that machines should be the masters of the world, and humans would be an ideal slave force. Megatron decided that if Soundwave couldn't be a new body, he would be a new soldier.

Megatron tried to convince Soundwave to join the Decepticons, take control of the machines in [[Detroit]], and steal the AllSpark Key. At first Soundwave refused, but then Megatron told Soundwave that the [[Autobot]]s lived to serve the humans. Once convinced, Soundwave promptly upgraded himself into a transforming body using controlled robots, and began his task. He started by taking over all the robots in [[Detroit]] and using [[Tutor Bot]] to kidnap Sari Sumdac. The revolution of the robots was, however, quickly opposed by the Autobots. When [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] came to rescue Sari, Soundwave blasted him with a sonic blast. Soundwave then appealed to Bulkhead to join the revolution because he did not want to hurt a fellow machine, reminding him how Bulkhead had been replaced by Soundwave himself. Bulkhead acted as if he was about to kill Sari... then used his wrecking ball to shatter Soundwave. The machines were restored to their normal operational status, and the day was saved.

Unknown to all others, however, Soundwave still functioned as a small piece even after Bulkhead pummeled him into scrap metal. {{storylink|Sound and Fury}}

A newly reassembled Soundwave was revealed to be in control of an army of Soundwave toys that have been marketed and sold by [[Porter C. Powell]] just in time for [[Christmas]]. One such toy was among the wrapped gifts at Autobot base. This toy freed himself from his packaging where he proceeded to poison the Autobots' [[oilnog]], which made the Autobots eager to take a [[stasis nap]]. Hoping to reprogram them into Decepticons, Soundwave plugged the sleeping Autobots into a virtual world where they were led to believe they had been turned into humans. However, [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] eventually deduced that they were in a virtual world, and managed—by force of will—to change their avatars into their Cybertronian forms. Soundwave decided that he had to accelerate the reprogramming. However, Sari Sumdac used her previously discovered Cybertronian abilities to try to interfere with his plans. Unfortunately, the damage that Sari dealt to Soundwave in their scuffle impeded the process of reprogramming the Autobots. That was of little consequence, as Soundwave had a back-up plan: using the toys Powell made in his likeness, Soundwave was able to brainwash every human in Detroit, ordering them to "destroy the [[techno-organic]]". Soundwave then turned his attention back to the Autobots, however, Prowl had freed himself using his "[[processor-over-matter]]" technique, but Soundwave quickly rectified this and returned the virtual Autobots into their human bodies. Exploiting their desire to escape from his trap, Soundwave entered the virtual world with an oddly-colored avatar and led them into a trap, where their reprogramming was completed.

After Sari Sumdac assembled a group of "[[Substitute Autobot|Substitute Autobots]]" to free her friends, Soundwave gained the element of surprise when he burst out from under the street and brought forth his newly reprogrammed Autobot minions. Soundwave held a significant tactical advantage over the inept group, but when the miserable technorganic changed tactics and focused on individual attacks, Soundwave found himself disoriented as he tried to control five minions at once. Soundwave was able to regain the upper hand when the substitute Autobots took out all but one of the reprogrammed Autobots: leaving him with full control over Optimus Prime. However, Prowl was able to break free of Soundwave's control using processor-over-matter and disabled Soundwave's control over his comrades. Soundwave then deployed Ratbat to deal with the meddling cyber-ninja and fought servo-to-servo with Optimus Prime, who then grabbed Laserbeak and forced him to transform back into guitar mode. Soundwave called Ratbat back to him in keytar mode and the two battled each other with music, until Optimus changed tactics and slashed him to pieces with his own ax. Before the next race, Clocker thanked the audience just prior to racing. He led the second group of racers as they reached the narrow stretch until Ransack was able to pass due to his small size. When Ransack then used his position to change the direction signs, Clocker fell for it and went the wrong way. As the race went on, he grew tired and tried to pace himself, but when Ransack and Crumplezone collapsed a tunnel in another of their cheating endeavors, Clocker, Red Alert and Landmine stopped to help fight the fires and clear the rubble that resulted. When Ransack then used his position to change the direction signs, Clocker fell for it and went the wrong way. As the race went on, he grew tired and tried to pace himself, but when Ransack and Crumplezone collapsed a tunnel in another of their cheating endeavors, Clocker, Red Alert and Landmine stopped to help fight the fires and clear the rubble that resulted. Both brothers were [[Multiversal singularity|multiversal singularities]], unique in all realities, but whereas Unicron could only exist in one dimension at a time, moving between them at will, Primus existed simultaneously in all realities at once. It is suggested, in fact, that the two brothers embody the basic concepts of reality—good and evil, order and chaos—and that their continued existence is necessary for the stability of the multiverse.

As Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. In cunning, however, he proved himself to his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends—rather than transforming his own body, he would create small beings that would be able to change their shape, like Unicron. After performing a "test run" on the moon of [[Protos]], where he successfully created [[Covenant|twelve transforming robotic beings]], {{storylink|Herald, Covenant, Schism, Paradox|Covenant}} he birthed from his own body a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron. These were the [[thirteen original Transformers]], each one infused with a fragment of Primus's life essence known as a [[spark]].

The Thirteen were Primus's soldiers in his war with Unicron, which came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, Megatronus Prime, who would forever afterwards be known as the [[The Fallen|Fallen]], betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. The battle ended when the Fallen and Unicron were sucked into a black hole and disappeared from reality. Unicron dispatched a group of [[Hook, Line, and Sinker|heralds]] to attack Cybertron and pave the way for his coming, including a [[Galvatron II|Galvatron]] plucked from an [[Rhythms of Darkness!|alternate future]]. Galvatron, however, was not content to serve under Unicron, and instead captured Autobot leader [[Emirate]] [[Xaaron]], forcing him to fully awaken Primus, who possessed Xaaron's body and summoned Transformers from all across the universe back to Cybertron. {{storylink|Out of Time!}} Here, Primus spoke through Xaaron, telling the Transformers of his history with Unicron. Additionally, Primus chose Optimus Prime to lead both factions, united, against the Chaos Bringer. Though their battle against the Unicron cultists did temporarily unite both factions, this facade shattered once the Planet-Eater arrived. Sheer terror prevented them from carrying out his desire, and the Transformers fled despite Primus' pleas. Primus instead made a stand himself, attempting to dupe Unicron into believing he still retained his full power, but Unicron saw through the deception, and destroyed Xaaron's body. Optimus Prime came to a realization, following Primus' destruction and his retrieval of the lost and contaminated Creation Matrix, that Primus did not mean only for the Transformers to fight his battles for him, but to carry on after he was gone. Though the Transformers were technically victorious, this victory came with a price. With Primus dead, and with the grievous wounds inflicted on Cybertron itself, the planet threatened to come apart. Formerly the assistant to the Primacron, the ancient genius who created the giant mechanoid Unicron, the robotic being known as the Oracle was badly damaged when Unicron rebelled against his creator. His essence fled to a dead world at the centre of the galaxy, which he used his powers to transform into a verdant, green planet. The Wreckers soon returned to Cybertron, discovering that in their absence, Optimus Primal had achieved his goal of recreating the planet as a technorganic world. In the wake of this overwhelming transformation, the Quintessons had invaded the planet, but they were not the only threat to Cybertron's safety: The Wreckers were also faced with [[Cryotek (RID)|Cryotek]], who had used the legendary [[Divine Light]] to tap into the power of Primus and transform himself into a living god. During the course of the battle that ensued, Primal Prime and [[Apelinq]] were struck by a blast of Primus's power by Cryotek, which wound up merging them into [[Sentinel Maximus]]. At Al-Badur's direction, Sentinel Maximus steered the battle to an interdimensional portal chamber far below the planet's surface, where [[Matrix Templar]]s [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus]] and [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] began draining Primus's power out of Cryotek. To stop them, Cryotek shattered the Divine Light and absorbed Primus's energies directly into himself, where they could not drain it, but as he grappled with Sentinel Maximus, the fused Autobot forced them both through the portal, into a [[transwarp|shapeless interdimensional void]]. Although unable to drain Primus's power any further, Cryotek was sustained in the void by the power he had absorbed, and he was ready to carry on the battle until Primus himself—now unshackled thanks to the destruction of the Oracle in the final stages of Optimus Primal's quest—took an active hand, spiriting Sentinel Maximus away to partake in [[Balancing Act|another battle]] elsewhere in the multiverse.

While all of this was happening on Cybertron, elsewhere in the universe, on [[New Quintessa]], Primus briefly possessed the body of [[Icebird]] so that he could address the Quintesson leader [[Judge Heirodyus]]. Primus was the living energy core of Cybertron, as well as the originator of the precious and ancient fuel, [[Energon (Energon)|energon]]. Transformers of this universe believed the stories of Unicron, Primus, and [[Omega Supreme (Energon)|Omega Supreme]] to be only myth and legend until the existence of Unicron was revealed in "[[the Unicron Battles]]" of 2010. With Cybertron left in a disastrous state after the chaos-bringer's attack, large amounts of energon were required to repair the planet, and to search for and acquire the mineral, the united Autobot-Decepticon forces entered into an alliance with the [[Earth Federation]] government.

Primus entered into the equation when the project's head scientist, [[Brian Jones (Energon)|Dr. Brian Jones]], brought his son, [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]], to Cybertron. Terrified of the giant robots surrounding him, Kicker fled, only to find himself tumbling through tunnels into a hidden chamber deep beneath Cybertron's surface. Primus awoke and saved Kicker from what would have been a fatal fall, and for his own reasons, imbued the child with a special gift—the ability to detect energon throughout the [[universe (universe)|universe]]. [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] subsequently discovered Kicker in Primus's chamber, and the god chose to work with the Transformers quite directly, imbuing them with the [[Spark of Combination]], which would allow the Autobots to [[Powerlinx]] and increase their powers. Primus went on to advise Optimus Prime on his actions in order to prepare for the future, including the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]] invasion, the return of [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]], and the next battle with Unicron; although vague at times, he would offer just enough information to allow his children to survive the threats they faced. Primus was often very weak due to the damage done to the planet's surface, and spent most of his time in a mode of stasis to preserve his energy and keep Cybertron's energy grid online.

When Megatron succeeded in reanimating Unicron, most of the Autobot army was critically wounded in the ensuing battle. Primus's plan to contain Unicron's essence in the center of the sun failed when the star collapsed into a massive [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] which threatened not only Cybertron and the universe, but the entire multiverse itself. His energy drained to the point that he had once again been rendered dormant, Primus could now only be awakened and restored to full power by the four ancient [[Cyber Planet Key]]s, lost to the far reaches of the galaxy in a failed [[space bridge]] experiment eons ago. The magnitude of the threat posed to the multiverse was enough to summon [[Vector Prime]]—one of the original thirteen Transformers, who had been following Unicron through the multiverse and repairing the damage he had done—back to Cybertron to aid the Autobots in the quest for the keys.

After a while, the the Autobots were able to find the focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], and the keys from [[Velocitron]] and [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]]. Bringing all three together caused the group to be drawn into the consciousness of Primus, who spoke through the three Mini-Cons and told his children to "maintain the balance". {{storylink|Trap}}

Eventually, despite continued attempts by both Megatron and [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] to steal the power of the Cyber Planet Keys, the Autobots were able to gather the keys from [[Velocitron]], the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]] and [[Earth]], and brought them and their focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], back to Cybertron. Coupling these three keys with the power of the Matrix, Optimus Prime was able to initiate Primus's transformation from planet mode to robot mode. Communicating with the Autobots through the [[Mini-Con]], [[Jolt (Cybertron)|Jolt]], Primus explained that the destruction of Unicron, the embodiment of the force of evil, had unbalanced the universe, and that only he could seal the black hole and restore order—but to do that, the fourth Cyber Planet Key, from [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, was required to reconnect Primus's spark with his body and restore his full power. {{storylink|Cybertron (episode)|Cybertron}}

Primus fused the four ships together to form the [[Ark (Cybertron)|Ark]], and with his powers subsequently restored by all four keys, he channelled all of his power through the Ark as a beam, straight into the heart of the black hole. For the first time, it would be possible for Unicron to strike at Primus in all realities simultaneously, ending their cosmic feud once and for all. Ramjet and Nemesis Prime were ultimately stopped by Vector Prime and allies [[Sentinel Maximus]] and [[Omega Prime]], plucked from the midst of the ''Universe'' conflict by the multiverse-warping energies of the black hole.

The Dead Matrix, however, was cast into the heart of the black hole by Unicron's servant [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]], freeing Unicron's spark and allowing it to adopt a new, diminutive physical form. Unicron participated in the escalating Mini-Con civil war on Cybertron's moons, but when the planet transformed into Primus's robot mode, Unicron fled. == Retconning the retcon? ==

It's no secret that, after the Unicron Trilogy, ''Universe'' and the Unicron-heavy [[Dreamwave Productions]] comic books, the [[fandom]] at large was generally quite sick of stories revolving around Unicron and Primus. It is likely no coincidence, then, that the major new universes created in western media between then and [[2010]]—those of the [[IDW Publishing]] comic books, the [[live-action film series|live-action movie]] and the ''[[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|Transformers Animated]]'' cartoon—all eschewed use of the Primus creation myth. But what does this mean for the status of the retcon that states Primus exists in all universes?

The world of the live-action initially presented the Transformers as creations of the enigmatic [[AllSpark]], with no explicit connection drawn between it and Primus. However, connections soon began to emerge. First, Takara's [[World of the Transformers]] website listed the AllSpark as a [[sacred implement]] alongside other Primus-related talismans such as the Matrix and Vector Sigma. Then, the UK's ''[[Transformers (Titan Magazine)|Transformers]]'' magazine introduced Unicron in [[Transformers Comic issue 18|its eighteenth issue]], and then in [[Transformers Comic issue 20|#20]], had the Transformers discover huge versions of their own interior workings deep inside Cybertron, in a clear reference to Cybertron being the transforming body of Primus. Primus was first referred to by name in a profile for The Fallen printed by Titan, which noted that legend claimed he was the creator of the first Transformers, and then again in IDW's ''[[Tales of the Fallen]]'' mini-series. At this point, it is clear that Primus does exist in the movie universe, and that the AllSpark is merely the object through which he acts. In 2010, the new ''[[Transformers: Prime (franchise)|Transformers: Prime]]'' continuity family lent further credence to this reading of events by incorporating it into its own storyline.

Much like the movieverse, the world of ''Transformers Animated'' also depicts the source of Transformer life as a mysterious talisman known as the [[AllSpark]], for which no origin has been given. As far as [[authorial intent]] goes, series art director [[Derrick J. Wyatt]] stated more than once his opinion that Primus does not exist in the ''Animated'' universe [http://twitter.com/DerrickJWyatt/status/1759990650]. The [[Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II|''AllSpark Almanac II'']] treads lightly on the matter in seeming honor of Wyatt's wishes, never revealing Cybertron's origins. The IDW universe is less clear on the matter. Writer [[Simon Furman]] outright said that the IDW universe would have "no Primus. No Unicron". In accordance with this, the Furman-penned ''[[Stormbringer (comics)|Stormbringer]]'', rather than have Transformers swear by Primus, instead had them swear by [[Primacron]], but a monkeywrench was thrown into the works when Primus's name was heard being taken in vain in [[Eric Holmes]]'s [[Megatron Origin issue 4|''Megatron Origin'' #4]]. Furman attempted to justify this on his blog by claiming that this was not ''the'' Primus, but simply "something or someone" called Primus that had existed some point. Ultimately, there is ''very'' little to say that Primus does not exist in the IDW or ''Animated'' universe, besides the fact that creators involved with those universes do not want to include the character in their stories. After all, just because Primus doesn't ''appear'', or characters are unaware of him, it doesn't mean he doesn't ''exist''. It wouldn't be the only time this has happened: the occupants of the parallel ''[[Shattered Glass (franchise)|Shattered Glass]]'' universe were largely ignorant of Primus until a [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper from another universe]] mentioned him. This version of Cybertron has rough hewn [[Manganese Mountains|mountain ranges]] and great [[Rust Sea|seas]]. (Though of note these seas are not made of water. Liquid water is so rare on Cybertron as to be thought a mythical substance. Alternative substances these bodies are filled with are mercury {{storylink|The Smelting Pool!}} and liquid helium {{storylink|Primal Scream (issue)|Primal Scream}}/{{storylink|Letters page (Marvel UK)|Darn 'n' Blast #303}}) The atmosphere and temperature on most of the surface is such that human life can survive unaided.

In its earliest recorded era Cybertron orbited [[Alpha Centauri]], and the Transformers were at peace. But the avaricious [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] sought to rule the planet and turn it into a "cosmic [[wikipedia:Dreadnought|dreadnaught]]". This plan would find a kind of fruition, but not what Megatron intended: The cataclysmic forces of his [[Cybertronian Civil Wars|wars]] eventually sent the planet careening through deep space.

Its aimless journey brought it near [[Earth]] four million years ago. When our [[asteroid belt]] threatened it, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] led an expedition to clear the way. They were successful, but they were ambushed by [[Decepticons]] led by Megatron, and their battle ended with a crash-landing on Earth that left all the combatants deactivated. In the modern day, Prime and Megatron's troops were reactivated, and they eventually found their way back to Cybertron. Twelve million years ago, the [[Quintesson]]s used Cybertron as a factory to manufacture their robot creations. Notably, the origins of the planet are never explicitly stated—the Quintessons may have built it, terraformed an organic world, or colonized an existing metal planet. Whatever the case, after a million years, the Quintessons were forced to abandon Cybertron when their robots evolved true sentience and feelings, and knew they were being used as slaves, rebelling in the [[Cybertronian Civil Wars|First Cybertronian War]]. The second war was soon to come, however, when the robots splintered into two factions, the peace-loving [[Autobot]]s and the war-mongering [[Decepticon]]s—and began fighting amongst themselves. Eventually, however, Decepticons adopted transformation as well, along with robot-mode flight, and around nine million years ago, the creation of the Decepticon [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] re-ignited the war on Cybertron. Megatron rallied like-minded individuals to his cause, and brainwashed others into his service, quickly killing the current Autobot leader in a strike on one of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]]'s outer cities. With this act kept out of the public knowledge, rumors circulated as Autobot machinesmith [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] worked diligently on a new process to reconstruct Autobots into battle-hardy configurations for the war he knew was coming. That war finally erupted in full when Megatron fatally injured a naive young dock worker, Orion Pax, and Alpha Trion made him the first subject of his new process, reconstructing him into [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]], who would lead the Autobots in the [[Great War (G1)|Third Cybertronian War]]. {{storylink|War Dawn}}

The tranquility of that age would come to a rapid end when [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] returned from the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]] and set a [[Transformation virus|virus]] loose on the world that incapacitated the population and paved the way for [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]] rule.

As [[Optimus Primal]] and his Maximals fought back, several facts about the planet became apparent. It had at least two moons, one with big gashes in its surface. The Maximal city of [[Cybertropolis]] had been built over the ruins of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]] and was home to billions of Transformers. And this was just the latest example of an eons-old trend of vertical expansion. In fleeing from the Vehicons, the Maximals found many layers of abandoned civilization, all the way down to the rocky crust of the world. There, fossils existed of bats, dinosaurs, and birds (which were well-preserved enough to harbor DNA). A few plants, such as trees and flowers, were seen growing underground or even occasionally breaking through to the surface. And stranger yet, drilling through the rock revealed the planet's green, oozing "organic core".

Another previously-unseen feature of the planet—but one that went unremarked upon—was its heavy cloud cover. Across dimensions and timeframes, Cybertron has been conspicuously devoid of visible weather systems. But when the Maximals returned from the Beast Wars, their view from orbit showed extensive, unmistakable clouds (which were also seen from the ground). This wouldn't last forever, though: By the time [[Botanica (BM)|Botanica]] arrived, the clouds had vanished again. The only major planetary event in the meantime was the doomsday energy storm that occurred when Primal and Megatron pitted the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]] against the [[Key to Vector Sigma]]. However, it is unclear whether this actually caused any meteorological effects.

Finding a chamber of fossils, [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]] drew the conclusion that Cybertron's animals had been driven extinct by colonizing robots, a theory mildly supported by Primal's conviction that a balance between organic and mechanical needed to be "restored" to the planet. In the end, Primal's dream became a reality when he applied his "[[reformatting]]" power to the organic core and converted the entire world to a [[technorganic]] state.

Cybertron is the only known world with naturally occurring [[Energon (fuel)|energon]]. {{storylink|Escalation issue 1}} This resource occurs deep beneath the surface and was initially mined by hand, before the mines became automated, and the labourers lost their livelihoods. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 1}}

Some 1500 years ago, the constant fighting and the stripping of Cybertron's natural resources by both Autobot and Decepticon to feed their age-long war led to a terrible [[Thunderwing (G1)|cataclysm]] that rendered Cybertron uninhabitable. With no atmosphere, Cybertron's surface was unprotected from cosmic radiation and was wracked by plasma storms. Transformers had to divert energy to their personal shielding in order to remain on the surface for short periods; the surface was presumably immediately lethal for humans. Gravity was also weaker than normal and Transformers needed [[magno-tread]]s to walk on the surface. The Transformer race abandoned the planet (save for occasional scientific surveys from orbit) and began conducting its conflict across the galaxy.

According to Autobot command directives, landing on Cybertron was forbidden. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 1|Stormbringer #1}} However, with the resurrection (and subsequent defeat) of Thunderwing, this directive was lifted due to the unusual circumstances. {{storylink|Spotlight: Galvatron}}

Around the year 1997, the wise [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]] returned to Cybertron with a plan to revive the planet. Through years of work, he began to repair Cybertron's atmosphere and rid it of radiation, though the planet remained dead and resourceless. {{storylink|Any Old Iron}}

Many years later, the Decepticons created the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticons]] on Cybertron, which had the side effect of also creating thousands of mindless monsters dubbed the [[Insecticon swarm]]. [[Primus]], a "unique digital entity", came to exist eons ago. To search for other life in the universe, it sent out the Transformers as explorers. One of the first places the Transformers settled was on a planet that would eventually become known as Cybertron. {{storylink|First Encounter}}

Cybertron is the body of Primus. Much like the versions of Cybertron before it, it is a metallic planet that is damaged by conflict. Cybertron existed in an unnamed system until the ''Energon'' series, where it was pulled from orbit and pushed into another part of space (or universe) that [[Alpha Quintesson]] had created.

In ''Energon'', Cybertron was equipped with a system of [[energon tower]]s that could surround the planet with a protective field, which has since been disabled due to Decepticon attack.

Cybertron had at least one known moon in the ''Armada'' series, but this moon turned out to be Unicron. It is unknown whether it was always Unicron's depowered body, or if the moon somehow became a new "host" body for him.

Through the ages, Cybertron has had many repairs, causing new "layers" to be added to the surface of the planet. Deep within the core is a pool of [[Super Energon]] that was once guarded by the four ancient combiners, [[Constructicon Maximus]], and [[Bruticus Maximus (Energon)|Bruticus Maximus]], [[Superion Maximus]], and the latter's unnamed brother.

At the end of the ''Energon'' series, Cybertron was granted a new sun when Primus trapped Unicron's spark within a ball of Super Energon, igniting it. This sun would eventually collapse, becoming the [[Unicron Singularity]].

It is unknown how large Cybertron is in this continuity, but it is most likely [[Scale|the size of Earth or smaller]]. Cybertron has an atmosphere, but it was unbreathable by Earth life forms as when [[Rad White|Rad]], [[Carlos Lopez|Carlos]] and [[Alexis Thi Dang|Alexis]] visited the planet in 2010, they required spacesuits to operate on the surface; by 2020, however, humans were capable of surviving without specialised suits, indicating that an oxygen/nitrogen-based atmosphere may have somehow been generated by the planet or created by Transformers or humans artificially.

In the ''Cybertron'' series, much of the planet had been repaired, including the construction of a "[[Sky Dome]]" headquarters where important meetings are held. This structure housed the artifacts that were used to mount the [[Omega Lock]], which unlocks the robot form of Cybertron.

Cybertron was a world created by a device known as the [[AllSpark]]. With its power, it created a race of dimensional travelers, the [[Thirteen original Transformers|Thirteen Primes]], and made Cybertron suitable for their habitation. The Primes soon discovered that while the AllSpark's power was vast, it was also finite, needing to be recharged. The universe soon provided the answer, for a nearby star went nova, recharging the AllSpark. Though the Primes could travel dimensions, they needed help locating stars and harvesting their energy. The AllSpark responded by creating two things to help the Primes. The first gift was the second race of Cybertronians, the [[Transformer]]s, who could change their forms. The Thirteen Primes ruled over the Transformers with their descendants, forming the [[Dynasty of Primes]], to protect the AllSpark and Cybertron, while seeking out stars to harvest. The Dynasty even shared their dimensional traveling abilities with the [[Seeker (ROTF)|Seeker]]s, those tasked with finding stars. Once they found a star, the Dynasty would follow with [[Constructicon (ROTF)|builders]] to forge a [[star harvester|harvester]] to drain a star of its energy and send it to the AllSpark to form [[Energon (fuel)|Energon]]. The second gift the AllSpark gave the Dynasty was the [[Matrix of Leadership]], a key which contained the essence of the AllSpark and powered the harvesters. The Dynasty of Primes recognized the potential for destruction the harvesters presented, so they decreed that any star system which supported life was to be spared.

One day, the Dynasty of Primes and their attendants came to [[Earth|a world]] to harvest its [[sun|star]]. Just as the harvester was completed, the Primes discovered [[human|primitive but sentient creatures]]. Twelve of the Primes upheld the sanctity of life, but the thirteenth despised the creatures as insects and sought to steal the AllSpark's power for himself. What followed was the very first battle of Transformer against Transformer, as the rogue Prime and his loyalists waged war against the Dynasty of Primes and their loyalists. The rogue Prime murdered eleven of his brothers, but the twelfth stole the Matrix and hid it a [[Tomb of the Primes|tomb]] forged from the bodies of his brothers, sacrificing his own spark to seal the Tomb. The rogue Prime, now known as [[The Fallen]], dispatched the Seekers to find the Matrix. When he returned to Cybertron, he brought his war there as well, killing the rest of the Primes and destroying his brothers' [[Sarcophagus|sarcophagi]] to prevent them from returning. However, he expended much of his power in this process and withdrew to his own sarcophagus to heal. It was there that he learned that he'd made two mistakes: First, the spirits of his brothers were able to seal him in the sarcophagus, preventing him taking over Cybertron. Second, the warriors of the Dynasty had managed to save a single orphan, hiding him from the Fallen. Eventually, what little the Transformers knew of their origins would be lost to time. A new society arose, known as the [[Autobot]]s. The Autobots were a peaceful people, led by [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus]], head of the [[Science Division]], and [[Megatron (Movie)|Protector Megatron]], head of the [[Defense Force]]. The two leaders created a balance; Optimus was fair while Megatron was firm. {{storylink|Movie Prequel issue 1|Movie Prequel #1}} Their world's main cities included [[Tyger Pax]], [[Metrotitan (ROTF)|Metrotitan]], [[Simfur]], and the capital city of [[Trypticon (Movie)|Trypticon]]. In time, the Autobots began work on a dig near the [[Simfur Temple]], discovering the remains of the Twelve's sarcophagi and the intact sarcophagus of The Fallen. At the same time, unknown [[Eshems alien|alien hostiles]] attacked Cybertron. As Megatron began to grow more aggressive, Optimus discovered that he was the orphaned Prime hidden away when the Dynasty fell. Megatron raised an army, the Decepticons, and sought to take the AllSpark to conquer the universe. However, most of the early Decepticon forces left on the [[Nemesis (ROTF)|''Nemesis'']] with The Fallen and [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] to seek out the harvester. With the number of Megatron's Decepticons now diminished, Optimus assumed his proper [[Prime (rank)|title]] and raised his own army of Autobots. In the war that followed, Cybertron was decimated. Prime eventually sent the AllSpark through a wormhole into deep space, and Megatron pursued it. Both were lost. Without the AllSpark's power, Cybertron became a dead world. Sentinel Prime attempted to teleport Cybertron via the space bridge-forming pillars from his ship, the [[Ark (DOTM)|Ark]] in order to acquire Earth's resources to re-energize Cybertron. However, Bumblebee destroyed the master pillar and Cybertron collapsed as it was going through, presumably destroying Cybertron forever.

Geography-wise, the surface of Cybertron is a mystery. Large rivers of liquid criss-cross the planet, though whether this is lava, molten metal, or possibly [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] is anyone's guess. When the Autobots were ordered off American soil, they regrouped ''under'' Cybertron and began working on the teleportation engines that Unicron had left there when he transformed the planet. Cybertron is orbited by three "near-Cybertron" objects: [[Moonbase One|Moon Bases One]] and [[Moonbase Two|Two]] and the [[Trypticon (WFC)|Trypticon Asteroid Belt Station]], each on opposite hemispheres of the planet (presumably the [[Iacon (polity)|Iaconian]] and [[Kaon]]ian sides). Beyond the moons and asteroid belt floats the last of the great [[Space bridge|Space Bridges]], the long-abandoned interstellar transportation system that once connected Cybertron to its colonies [[Velocitron]], [[Gigantion]] and the [[Hub (G2)|Hub]] elsewhere in the galaxy.

[[Unicron]] attacked this Cybertron early on in its history, presumably after all but [[Alpha Trion (WFC)|one]] of [[the Primes]] left once their squabbles escalated into murder. The [[Covenant of Primus]] decreed only one [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] could rule at a time, with the thirteen members of the [[Autobot High Council|High Council]]. The Quintessons seized control but an [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard]] named [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Sentinel]] led the revolution, and with the High Council and the [[Guilds of Cybertron|Guilds]], he led to the Transformers to a [[Golden Age]] of expansion. As the space bridges became less reliable and contact with the colonies was lost, Sentinel and the Guilds instituted the [[caste system]] to slow their civilization's decline. The High Council and their Guards were in charge of law and order, but each state controlled its own militia.

But as the nameless miners resorted to [[gladiatorial combat]] as an outlet for their misery, a champion named [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] rose to seize the title of Prime for himself. Unwittingly, his Iaconian ally was appointed [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] instead, and their anti-caste movement became a civil war for Cybertron's future. The [[AllSpark]] was lost to space, whole regions of the planet were laid waste, and the [[core]] of Cybertron was poisoned by [[Dark Energon]], the remnants of Unicron's attack, prompting the Autobots to evacuate on the ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]''. Despite the powerful vacuum, Mudflap held out for a while before being sucked further in. Seeking vengeance, Skids clambered up Devastator for revenge. However, Mudflap had survived, and he blasted a hole through the giant Decepticon's eye to climb out before further attacking the combiner and slowing it down.

By this point, Simmons had made his way to the pyramid, and he radioed a nearby navy ship to fire its experimental [[rail gun]], which had been developed based on studies of Megatron during his captivity at [[Hoover Dam]]. Hiding the construction site with a dense, artificially-generated cloudbank, the Decepticons proceeded with repairs until the unfortunate Autobot [[Stratosphere]] stumbled across their location while on a routine patrol in the area. The partially functional Devastator lashed out at the airborne Autobot, smashing off one of his wings and causing him to crash. Stratosphere survived the hit and fought his way past Skywarp to co-opt the Decepticons' communications array, using it to call in an air-strike on Devastator's position. :Devastator is formed from the combination of six transforming construction vehicle toys that do not have individual robot modes. :The toy's electronics are all in the Mixmaster component. Pressing the button makes Devastator's mouth open and activates voice clips and engine sounds, as well as green lights in his mouth and eyes. Pressing the button for a few seconds activates his "Vortex grinder". However, the button trigger is so sensitive that he ''never shuts up''. In Devastator mode, his mouth can be locked into the open position by clicking his lower jaw sections into the large tank treads that form his shoulders. His mouth is enormous, and it lights up all pretty and green. He can easily swallow any Legends-class toy and spit it out the other side by opening up the back of his head. Covering Devastator's head when separating him from the torso and turning him back into Mixmaster's vehicle mode activates the transformation noise, and after that somehow makes engine stalling noises without pulling the trigger.

:Sadly, Devastator has a hard time standing on all four of his limbs, and is most stable standing on his hind legs. This is mainly because the most weight is located in the head, and his fingers are not made to hold that weight. He will also look straight to the ground unless you lock his head in place with the lower jaw.

When [[Shockwave (Movie)|Shockwave]] was tasked by [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] to help put his house in order by re-consolidating the scattered Decepticon forces, Shockwave naturally set about it in the most duplicitous manner possible. Tasking his subordinate [[Astrotrain (DOTM)|Astrotrain]] with the construction of an enclosure for his pet [[Driller]] in upstate [[New York (state)|New York]], Shockwave provided him with a brain unit that supposedly contained a data download that was integral to the cage's construction. The unit, however, had deliberately been equipped with a level of independent thought its kind were not normally outfitted with, and when it overheard Shockwave telling Astrotrain to terminate it upon completion of its task, it decided to flee, adopting the name "Brains" and fleeing across the state line to [[Philadelphia]], [[Pennsylvania]]. Failing to understand that the fleshy meat-poles walking around were the dominant lifeform, Brains tried to get some aid from local machines, but after getting no response, he kicked a car in anger. This car, as it turned out, was [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], whose partner [[Sam Witwicky]] was not far away. {{storylink|Rising Storm issue 1|Rising Storm #1}}

Sam brought Brains back to his school, where he formed a quick friendship with Sam's live-in Transformer "buddy", his fellow scrap drone [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]]. They went with their human housemates to the NEST base to reveal information to the Autobots. Once the Autobots were forced to go back into space, both Wheelie and Brains were shoved into a small cage and begged for help from Sam. The duo, along with the other Autobots, were presumed to be killed when [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] destroyed [[Xantium (DOTM)|Xantium]]. Thankfully, Brains and Wheelie, along with the rest of the Autobots, escaped the ship's destruction and came to the aid of Sam and the human race in Chicago.

Wheelie noted that he and the other Autobots would always help humanity and soon marched off to battle. Unfortunately, Wheelie and Brains were left behind due to their diminutive size, causing them to mumble about their lack of support. However, upon finding a destroyed Decepticon ship, they rode it up to the massive Decepticon "mother ship" hovering over Chicago that was controlling several smaller ships like the one they hijacked. This action caused a distraction just at the right moment for [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]] and [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], preventing Bumblebee's execution. Wheelie and Brains overrode the mother ship's controls and crashed it into a large body of water below.
