The Moon is the natural satellite of the planet Earth, a big ball of rock orbiting, well, Earth. The Transformers tend to have a lot of battles there.
Generation 1 cartoon continuity
Generation 1 cartoon
In an attempt to hijack Earth's airwaves and cripple the humans' ability to communicate with each other, Megatron had a base built on the Moon. After Blaster and Cosmos were captured, Blaster sent music over Megatron's transmissions to let the Autobots learn where they were. After driving off the Decepticons, Blaster commandeered the base to use it to hang. Blaster Blues One of Megatron's other plans involved using an orbit disruptor cannon to knock the moon out of orbit, but it was never realized. B.O.T. (episode)

Later, the Autobots and the Decepticons were fighting on the Moon when a mysterious voice summoned Sky Lynx, Trypticon, the Dinobots, the Predacons, the Terrorcons, and the animal-form cassettes to battle Tornedron. Call of the Primitives

Super-God Masterforce cartoon
Humanity had constructed the Weather Observatory Moon Base on the Moon, but it was attacked by Overlord. Will the Bomber Project Be Destroyed!? God Ginrai flew to rescue the base's inhabitants, and despite some interference from Overlord, he successfully reached the Moon. God Ginrai - Into the Sky!! He then fought against Overlord and BlackZarak on the Moon's surface, and with some help from Grand Maximus, defeated them. God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon

Victory cartoon
In 2025, another Lunar Base had been built on the Moon, and fell the same fate as the Weather Observatory when the Dinoforce attacked it. While the base was destroyed, the crew were saved thanks to the Brainmasters. The Brave Hero of the Universe - Star Saber

Beast Wars II cartoon
In a distant future where Earth was known as Gaea, Artemis and Moon lived on the Moon. From there, they observed the battles between the Maximals and Predacons on the planet's surface.

Marvel Comics continuity
When the Autobot contingent led by Fortress Maximus arrived from Nebulos to Earth, they sought contact with the Autobots of Earth, who were aboard the Ark, led at that point by the Dinobot Grimlock. Instead of marshaling their forces, their first meeting degenerated into a duel over leadership under the Autobot Code of Combat, with the Moon picked as a neutral location. As Grimlock faced off against the injured Fortress Maximus's proxy, Blaster, the Ratbat-led Decepticons ambushed the Autobots. While the combined efforts of the Autobots allowed them to defeat their attackers, the Ark was crippled, and with the Steelhaven having left to rebuild Optimus Prime, both groups were trapped on Earth's satellite. Totaled!

In a bout of extreme depression brought on by the death of Ratchet, Optimus Prime ordered the Ark landed on the Moon to allow him walk and brood alone there. Yesterday's Heroes!

Dreamwave Armada comic
The Mini-Con ship, the Exodus, crashed on the Moon, leaving half of it and many of its occupants trapped there. Dualor took control and organised them into a community—a very well-armed community who were not allowed to leave—and declared they had to defend themselves against both Autobot and Decepticon exploitation. Dreamwave Armada issue 9

When Dualor abducted Earth's Mini-Cons "for their own good," both Autobot and Decepticon attentions were drawn to the Moon. This led to the Mini-Con Moonbase's eventual destruction and evacuation. Dreamwave Armada issue 11

Panini Armada comic
When the Exodus collided with the Moon, several pieces of the ship were left there. Four million years later, the Mini-Cons on Earth were reawakened, and their reactivation briefly bounced off a second transmitter on the wreckage on the Moon. Panini Armada issue 2 Megatron soon came to investigate, making sure to step on a human flag while he was there. The Autobots stopped him from obtaining the Mini-Cons sleeping on the Moon by sending a remote-controlled pod to reactivate them and transport them to safety. Panini Armada issue 6

Megatron subsequently decided to make the Moon his headquarters, and had a large base constructed on its surface. From there, he fired missiles at the Autobot base on Earth, but the Autobots managed to teleport the warheads right back at him. Panini Armada issue 8 Most of the Decepticon base was destroyed in the explosion, and what remained was further damaged when the Destruction Mini-Con Team, who were living in a piece of Exodus wreckage on the Moon, used Cyclonus to attack the Decepticons. Panini Armada issue 9

Unicron Trilogy cartoon continuity
Armada cartoon
The Mini-Con ship Exodus crash-landed on the Moon, scattering its stasis-locked passengers all over Earth. Later, the Decepticons would set up a base inside the derelict ship, from where they would teleport to various locations on Earth to search for the Mini-Cons.

The human children Alexis, Carlos and Rad would later end up on the Moon when they were accidentally teleported there during a fight. Apparently, by 2010, the Moon has a breathable atmosphere but no other alterations or terraforming, as the kids are able to move about and talk despite the fact that they should have asphyxiated within minutes.

Energon cartoon
Ten years later, the Autobots and humans had established an energon mining base on the Moon's surface, creatively named Lunar City. They assigned Cyclonus and Tidal Wave to guard it. This lasted right up until someone actually attacked it. Energon Stars

When he was being stalked by a mysterious invisible assassin, Optimus Prime went to the moon to lure his attacker out into the open and challenge him directly. Starscream the Mysterious Mercenary

Kicker eventually realized that there was still energon—and survivors—in the ruins of Lunar City, leading to the Autobots returning there. They built a new Energon Tower to protect the resurgent base. Kicker Beware!

Inferno used Lunar City's repaired and upgraded defenses to blast the three artificial "comets" that Megatron sent to destroy Earth. It didn't seem to help much. Energon Grid

The Moon was later used as the launching point for the starship Miranda II. Go for Unicron!

Live-action Transformers movie continuity
Ghosts of Yesterday
The Apollo 11 mission contained the first manned human craft to reach the moon, which was launched in 1969 and crewed by Neil Armstrong and two others. Unknown to most people, this also served as an elaborate cover for the secret launch of Ghost 1, a far more advanced spacecraft reverse-engineered from alien technology. Ghosts of Yesterday

Titan Magazines Transformers movie comics
notetitantlg
The Autobot reinforcements for Earth (all six of them) arrived on the Moon to avoid Decepticon detection and await orders. Pity the Decepticons detected them really soon, eh? Transformers Comic issue 9

Dark of the Moon film
At one point, the Ark crashed on the Moon, with Sentinel Prime and other Autobots aboard. The ship was later found by humans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969 during the Apollo 11 mission. Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Animated cartoon
Idw-tfa
On his way to obtain the AllSpark on Earth, Starscream crashed the Nemesis on the Moon after his piloting was distracted by Blackarachnia. Dispatches The vessel was later discovered by a human remote-control space rover, which was accidentally stomped to pieces by Lugnut when he and Blitzwing landed near the Nemesis during their search for Megatron. Lost and Found (episode)

The wreckage of the Nemesis was later used as Starscream's base of operations as he cloned himself using stolen protoforms that were stored on the Nemesis. Five Servos of Doom Endgame, Part I Prowl and Lockdown briefly arrived on the Moon in search of Starscream, but were lured back to Earth by one of the clones. A Fistful of Energon Once he deemed his troops sufficient, Starscream again departed from the Moon with his clones in tow. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

Peace and quiet would not last long there, though. Sometime after Starscream and his clones left, Megatron, Starscream's head, Shockwave, and Lugnut transwarped there on Omega Supreme. There, the Decepticons proceeded to tear apart the Nemesis to construct three clones of Omega Supreme and hacked into Arcee's head to get the access codes to the giant Autobot so they could bring these clones online. During this, Starscream was able to roll his way into the Nemesis, where his clone army was stored. He used one of the stolen protoforms on the ship to help form him a new body, letting him finally be able to stand against Megatron. His victory was short-lived however, as Megatron blasted each unactivated clone, and then blew off Starscream's lower half. With the processes done, the new Lugnut Supremes (with Lugnut inside Omega controlling them) transformed and rose up, and headed straight to Detroit. Endgame, Part I
