Bumblebee gots lots of toys!

Toys
Generation 1
*Bumblebee (Mini Vehicle, 1984~1986/2001/2003/2004)
: Japanese ID number: 11, C-56

: Bumblebee's original toy, released in 1984 and in Japan in 1985, transforms into a "penny-racer"-proportioned Volkwagen Beetle. He was available through the first three years of the Transformers series, the entire duration of the Mini Vehicle assortment. In 1984, Bumblebee was produced in both yellow and red (as was Cliffjumper), though how this came to happen remains a mystery.

: Bumblebee was released in a wide variety of colors in markets south of the border. In Mexico, both a blue version and a recently-discovered white version with a red face were released, while both metallic gold and gunmetal-silver versions have appeared from South American companies Antex and Estrella.

: Bumblebee was reissued as a keychain by Fun4All under license form Hasbro in the US in 2001. Along with having its rear bumper retooled to accommodate the chain, the keychain form lacked the "Dunlop" text on the tires, and was also released in Japan in 2003 as a 7-Eleven exclusive. The Japanese keychain series also had a black "chase" version.

: In 2004, Bumblebee was again reissued in Japan in a six-toy multi-pack alongside Huffer, Cosmos, Gears, Powerglide and Warpath, but this time with a cartoon-accurate head.

: The original mold is also used by Volks. The keychain version is used by Glyph, while the new-head multi-pack version was used to make Bug Bite.

*Goldbug (Throttlebot, 1987)
: Japanese ID number: C-97

: The Throttlebot Goldbug was released in 1987, and like the other Throttlebots, he has a pull-back motor and a simple transformation. The vehicle mode was not designed to look like a penny racer, as the original toy was, so its variation on the Volkswagen Beetle was much more realistically-proportioned. Though the other Throttlebots seem to have always been intended to be new characters, Goldbug's head was based directly on that of Bumblebee's original toy. Bumblebee was the second Transformer to be given a second toy (as both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime had been released the year previous).

*Bumblebee (Pretender, 1989)

: As part of the sixth year of Generation 1, Bumblebee was released as a "Classic Pretender", expanding the range of Pretenders toys. This version of Bumblebee is still a Volkswagen Beetle, but now has what look like off-road tires. He came with a gun for his robot mode that could be mounted on his roof and another gun for his human shell. Oddly, the robot's head is modeled after Cliffjumper's toy head. The inner robot was sold without the shell as a K-Mart exclusive Legends figure, but with the inner-robot gun to his teammate Jazz, who had Bumblebee's small gun in exchange. The Legends figure was also sold in a set with Legends Grimlock, Jazz and Starscream in Japan the same year.

*Bumblebee (Action Master, 1990)

: A non-transforming action figure that mixed cartoon model with toy-detail, Bumblebee's Action Master release came with a Heli-pack that transforms into a large gun with spring-loaded deploying barrel. This release makes Bumblebee the only character to have a toy of some kind available during the entire original Transformers production run (from 1984-1990).

Generation 2
*Bumblebee (Mini Vehicle, 1993)

: Bumblebee's first Generation 2 toy was a redeco of his original toy, but with gold chrome on the previously yellow parts.

*Bumblebee (Go-Bot, 1995)

: Bumblebee's second release in the Generation 2 line was as a recolor of the Go-Bot High Beam, transforming into a concept race car with exposed rear engine.

: This mold was also used to make Robots in Disguise Crosswise and Nightracer.

Smallest Transforming Transformers
*Bumble (2003)

: Bumblebee was released in 2003 in the Japanese Smallest Transformers line as a scaled-down version of his original toy, in both yellow and a "chase" red color scheme.

Titaniums
*Bumblebee (Robot Master, 2006)

:Titaniums Bumblebee is a small, 3-inch mostly-die-cast-metal statue of the little guy in a hybrid of his toy and cartoon models. He has joints at the waist, neck and shoulders, plus a removable pistol. He even comes with a little Autobot-sigil display base.

*Optimus Prime & Bumblebee (2-pack, 2007)

: A Toys 'R' Us exclusive two-pack, this set features "Supermetal Finish" (read: shiny) versions of the "Robot Master" Titaniums Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

Classics
*Bumblebee (Deluxe, 2006)

: The Deluxe Classics Bumblebee transforms into a yellow sports car (labeled as a "cruiser" on the package). He comes with a single accessory: A jet ski called "Wave Crusher" on a trailer. In robot mode, Bumblebee is articulated with ball joints at the head, shoulders, elbows, hips, and has hinge knees. Wave Crusher converts into a jet pack that mounts onto his back.

: This mold was also used to make Classics Bug Bite and Cliffjumper.

: It is the best toy ever.

*Bumblebee (Legends, 2007)

: This Classics Bumblebee toy is a redeco of Legends of Cybertron Hot Shot, transforming into a modified Chrysler ME Four Twelve concept car. In either mode he has flip-out "wings". We have gone full circle.

Attacktix
*Bumblebee (Booster, 2007)
:Attacktix ID number: TF06

: Part of the second-series Transformers Attacktix Boosters, Bumblebee is a "Rare" 20-point "Specialist" that fires a standard missile. His Special Power, "Infiltrate", does something probably cool but we don't know what yet. He also has an always-active power that lets him take a free turn if he defeats another "Specialist"-ranked piece with a higher point value than his own. Holy schneikies, he's a monster on the board.

Transformers (2007)
*Slumblebee
: Slumblebee is, as his name suggests, a plush G1 Bumblebee toy. Obviously he has no problems with articulation and passes the drop test with flying colours. You can transform him into his car mode (which is totally not a Beetle, as far as Volkswagen can prove) by turning him inside out. Truly he is a new zenith of cuteness.

Robot Heroes
*Bumblebee & Soundwave (2007)

: Robot Heroes Bumblebee is another piece of absolute adorableness. A soft-plastic figurine that combines the cartoon and toy elements of the original Bumblebee with a "super-deformed" style, he is jointed at the neck and shoulders. He came in a two-pack with Soundwave.

: This mold was also used to make Robot Heroes Cliffjumper, of course.

Unreleased
: One of the earliest proposals in the Alternators line, line-art of a "new Beetle" incarnation of Bumblebee (with a Cliffjumper retooling) has been revealed by Takara in their Binaltech sourcebook. However, since Volkswagen rejected Hasbro/Takara's licensing pitch, the toy never progressed beyond line-art phase.

Merchandise
Generation 1
*Bumblebee Decoy (1986)

:A tiny unpainted red rubber figurine of Bumblebee was packed randomly among the other 51 Decoys in the packages of 1986 Transformers toys. A larger, creamy orange version appeared in 11-packs of Decoys in Japan around the same time. It is notable for being the first Bumblebee figure to be based on his character model.

*Bumble bottlecap (Kabaya, 2003)
:ID Number: C-4

:A tiny black-and-white figurine of Bumblebee standing atop an Autobot insignia bottlecap, Bumble was one of twelve black-and-white bottlecaps sold blind-packed in Japan (where bottlecap collecting is a popular hobby) by candy and snack company and frequent Transformers licensee Kabaya. One configuration of Pepsi Convoy's trailer is a display stand for the set.

Super Collection Figure
*Bumble and Spike (2001)
:Japanese ID Number: 5 (painted), 6 (clear)

:A 3-inch PVC of Bumblebee with his best human friend Spike was released in Act 3 of Takara's Super Collection Figure series. Both painted and transparent versions were made in equal quantities and sold blind-packed. The PVCs were later sold in Hasbro's markets under the name Heroes of Cybertron, with this figure being called the Autobot Espionage Team due to the trademark on the name "Bumblebee" having been lost.

Nightbeat

:Nightbeat is an Autobot in the Generation One continuity family.

Nightbeat, a self-declared detective, loves mystery, suspense, and conspiracy. When Nightbeat is on the trail for clues, nothing else matters. This blindsidedness has famously gotten him into trouble over his head more times than he can count. Yet in the face of adversity, he remains cool, confident, and even irreverent. He has insulted creatures many times his size and commited huge faux pas to uncover the truth. It is not so much that Nightbeat is brave, but more that the thrill of the hunt has him -- and he will not be denied.

Nightbeat has a Headmaster partner, Muzzle, who he gets along amazingly well with. The two seem to have been of one mind even before they were binary bonded.
Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
(Events from the UK-only comics are in italics.)

Shortly after being made a Headmaster and joining Optimus Prime's crew on Earth, Nightbeat learned of a mysterious robot corpse which had seemingly washed up on the California shoreline. He decided to investigate, bringing along Siren to serve as his personal "Watson". At the scene of the crime, they found a pair of Transformers hovering over the body, and who quickly burned rubber once they spotted the Autobots. Sending Siren off to chase them down, Nightbeat pulled out the giant retractable magnifying glass in his sleeve and went to work collecting evidence from the body.

Finding a serial brand from a Decepticon prison on the body, and identifying a signature Decepticon blaster as the murder weapon, Nightbeat concluded that a lone, well-armed Decepticon was hunting down escaped Autobot prisoners. Siren returned at that moment, correcting Nightbeat's analysis by informing him the prisoners weren't escapees, but deliberately let loose as prey to be hunted down. His source? The surviving prisoner, Hosehead, and the lone, well-armed Decepticon named Thunderwing who was right on their tails. Thinking quickly, Nightbeat had his Nebulan partner Muzzle binary-bond with the dead Autobot in order to partially reactivate his motor functions. Caught off-guard by his prey supposedly coming back to life right in front of him, Thunderwing left himself wide open when Muzzle disengaged and Nightbeat blew up the Autobot's fuel core at close enough range to send Thunderwing packing into the waves to dose the flames. Hosehead then returned to the Ark with Nightbeat and Siren. The Big Shutdown

During the Matrix Quest, Nightbeat led Hosehead and Siren on a search of the planet Pz-Zazz for any sign of the Matrix. Pz-Zazz was on file as a vibrant, lush world; in reality it was a cesspool, festering with mob violence and untamed decadence. While questioning the wrong sort of people, the Autobots were caught in the middle of a crossfire between B'hgdad's men and Gutt's boys. One alien on the street fared worse than they did, passing on a mysterious bird statue to Siren before dying in his arms. Despite Nightbeat's keen interest in the clear film noir plot developing around them, Siren and Hosehead convinced him to put the bird aside and continue searching for the Matrix.

At the next bar they were canvassing, the Autobots were confronted by the delightful Miss Fatale. Fatale informed them of a legendary Font of Life which had once lit a nearby mountaintop. The sick and weak would pilgramage to the mountain in order to touch a "sacred idol" and heal their wounds. She offered to lead them to the temple on the mountain in exchange for the bird, which she claimed was her property. Suspicious, Nightbeat sent Hosehead and Siren ahead to the mountain with Fatale while he retrieved the bird from where they had stashed it. Confronted by B'hgdad and his men, Nightbeat only managed to escape after chipping off a piece of the bird's outer enamel, revealing the radiant life-source within. Briefly considering keeping the bird as a replacement for the Matrix, to help heal all his comrades aboard the Ark, Nightbeat quickly rejected the idea and returned the bird to its rightful place on the mountain's altar, releasing waves of pure light and hope to revitalize Pz-Zazz and its people.

Then he got shot in the back. No good deed goes unpunished. Bird of Prey

Thunderwing and his Mayhem Attack Squad had gotten wind of Autobot parties searching this one area of the galaxy, and his curiosity was piqued. Hooking Nightbeat and the others up to his torturous Mind-Leech device, Thunderwing extracted all he needed to know about the Matrix Quest and the possible planets on the search list. The Autobot trio remained captives on board the Mayhem ship until Thunderwing backhanded his minion Ruckus into some equipment. This caused a short circuit which, unknown to the Decepticons, freed Nightbeat and his team. Learning that Thunderwing had successfully found the Matrix in their absence and was planning to sneak aboard the Ark in a stolen Autobot shuttle, Nightbeat and pals stowed away on the shuttle in the hopes of disrupting the Decepticons' schemes somehow.

The situation was worse than they thought. The Matrix was corrupted from a series of unstable hosts, and now had an evil sentience that had overwhelmed Thunderwing and made him a puppet to its will. With the combined forces of the Ark unable to best the Thunderwing / Matrix combo, Nightbeat devised a desperate plan. As Siren triggered the shuttle's self-destruct sequence, Nightbeat fired the ship's grappling harpoon straight through Thunderwing's chest and shut off the docking clamps, just as Hosehead turned off the artificial gravity in the hangar bay. The result was the shuttle being sucked out into the black void, taking Thunderwing and the Matrix along with it before exploding. Thunderwing was last seen hurtling through space, still harpooned to a piece of flaming debris. All Fall Down

Optimus Prime next gave Nightbeat an investigational assignment to look into the disappearance and supposed death of Ratchet and Megatron in a massive explosion on Cybertron some months back. After review witness statements and making a few leaps of deductive logic, Nightbeat reached the hypothesis that Ratchet may have been cast into a dimensional portal they knew had been active at the time of the explosion, and then been caught between space as the explosion destroyed the delicate portal mechanism. To test his theory, Nightbeat arranged for an inter-dimensional probe to search for and retrieve Ratchet's spark signature in unspace, assuming it was anywhere to be found. Eye of The Storm

It was. Ratchet reappeared on the Ark fused at a molecular level to Megatron. This wasn't a "pure, strong, and fast" fusion; it was a horrific blending of two mechanoids, both in constant and indescribable agony. Prime managed to subdue the creature, and Autobot medic Fixit took steps to separate the pair, who were then placed in stasis chambers. The Price of Life

Nightbeat continued serving as one of Prime's most steadfast warriors. He was personally teamed with Optimus during the Decepticon Civil War, and was blasted by Circuit Breaker while trying to keep Scorponok, Shockwave and the Neo-Knights from tearing each other apart. He survived the war with Unicron, and remained part of the Autobot army afterwards as well.

Nightbeat appeared among the Autobot forces just long enough to sacrifice himself futilely against the Swarm, self-destructing alongside Dirge. Moments later, Megatron showed up with the rheanimum that could have saved him.A Rage in Heaven
While being driven by Muzzle on the surface of an unidentified planet (with Siren and Hosehead at his sides), Nightbeat transformed into robot mode. Shortly thereafter, three Decepticon Headmasters burst through a wall, and Nightbeat engaged Horri-Bull in battle.

One of the few remaining Autobots battling the Decepticons during the Age of Internment, Nightbeat was leader of a strike team consisting of Hosehead, Siren, Slapdash, Joyride, and Getaway. Their mission was to acquire a member of the Aerospace Extermination Squadron for Perceptor to study and, hopefully, find some sort of defense against.

IDW comics continuity
Nightbeat, passing the time by trying to answer the mystery of the first Ark, was lured into an apparent trap on Gorlan Prime. He found a strange dimensional portal deep beneath the world, but got captured by a unknown villain before he could tell anyone. They put something in his head, erased his memory, and then sent him back out into space. Shortly thereafter he was contacted by Optimus Prime and ordered to head for Earth. His monitors make Optimus Prime look funny.
Sirens voice modulator goes to eleven - and stays there. Thanks to his ear-splitting upbringing in the Sonic Canyons, he operates at full volume all the time. While this may annoy his pals Nightbeat and Hosehead, it drives his partner Quig nuts. Eventually, Quig's efforts to teach Siren about the concept of an 'indoor voice' may succeed, but for now Siren doesn't really listen to him - either because he can't hear him, or because he doesn't want to.
Siren 'assisted' Nightbeat in investigating the death of Playback, narrowly avoid death at the hands of Thunderwing in the process. It was here that the two met Hosehead and made the partnership a trio.

The three would later take a journey to Pz-Zazz in search of the lost Creation Matrix. They failed to find it, but DID manage to get shot in the back and captured by Thunderwing and the Mayhem Attack Squad. Siren demonstrated remarkable self-control in not talking to Thunderwing while being tortured under a mind-probe. He and his comrades eventually broke free and were instrumental in removing the threat of Thunderwing from the Ark. Some time later, he provided a needed dose of comic relief while the Robot Devil was tearing apart the body and blood of the Robot God with his bare hands. On The Edge of Extinction

He was eventually impaled by Bludgeon on the planet Klo. Whether the Last Autobot could resurrect Headmasters like Siren as easily as he did other fallen warriors was never confirmed. End of the Road! (Marvel US comic)
Siren was stationed on the Autobot Orbital Command Hub. He was requisitioned into action on-board the Ark-17 for a mission to rescue Kup from a mysterious planet. *Siren was originally conceived as either an upgrade or homage to Red Alert. While the robot mode was largely blue unlike Red Alert, it featured a similar head to the early Autobot. The car mode featured a near carbon copy of Red Alert's paint scheme. The Red Alert references were dropped early in the design process.

*Not once in the original comic series is Siren shown to be a Headmaster.
*In the comics, Nightbeat and Siren's head designs were switched by mistake, which is why Nightbeat had goggles on while Siren had eyes, in spite of it being vice versa on the toys.

This is the safest form of energon, used for transportation and storage.

Fiction
G1 Animated Series
As originally introduced, energon cubes seemed as though they could only be created by Soundwave More Than Meets The Eye, Part 1, who generated the empty cube framework from his similarly-shaped chest, but later, several other Decepticons proved able to produce them as well. It seemed as if energon cubes were a recent Decepticon invention -- precisely when they were concieved is unclear -- as the Autobots were apparently unaware of them until their reawakening on Earth in 1984, when Hound described them to Prime as simply "some kind of cube". By 2005, however, the Autobots had begun to use energon cubes for power as well.

Exactly how an energon cube operates is unclear, especially as their framework appears to be some sort of self-sustaining force field with no internal mechanisms. Most frequently, the empty cube is simply attached to or placed near the energy source from which it is to drain power, and the energy in question is automatically converted into liquid energon that fills the cube. Energon cubes have proven able to transform a vast array of resources into energon, including electricity, magma, oil and steam. The liquid energon within energon cubes is a glowing pink color, although the cubes could also be compressed for easy storage and transport, causing them to take on an irridescent rainbow effect.

Beast Wars
In Beast Wars, the naturally-occuring energon on prehistoric Earth appeared only in an unstable, highly-explosive raw crystalline form. However, after the Planet Buster baked Earth's surface, the crystals were all either incinerated or somehow "converted" into more stabe cubes. These cubes no longer emitted the dangerous radiation which prompted the Beast Warriors to adopt their beast modes in the first place. They were significantly smaller than G1 cubes and colored blue rather than pink. Rather than some sort of force field containing liquid energon, these smaller cubes may have simply been a different configuration of energon crystal, much as substances like salt can exist as cubical grains but can also grow into more traditional crystalline forms. Blackarachnia threatened to detonate an energon cube near her head if Tarantulas would not remove the mind-link he had with her. The explosion would have killed them both via the link, so Tarantulas did remove it. Tangled Web

Toy
Energon Cubes were available with Takara's "TF Collection" reissue of the Insecticons, and the set's redeco, the Collector's Edition Insectron Clone Army (Shothole, Salvo and Zaptrap) box set released in Japan in 2004.

There were also "energon cube" accessories available with the fast-food kids meal premiums in European McDonald's restaraunts. These cubes were little more than a cheap, battery powered gimmick (the battery couldn't be replaced; the triangle-headed screws used by McD's are notoriously impossible to remove) that would make sound or light the toy up. The cubes were interchangable, but not all of them were "compatible," so to speak - Unicron's light-up feature didn't work on the more opaque plastic of the other toys.

Merchandise
Released along side the Movie Preview protoform figures, Energon now takes on the delicious form of candy! Held inside clear, plastic containers, the "energon" inside is more or less flavorless balls of condensed sugar with articial colors. The cubes are held together by stickers, depicting scenes from G1. the larger cube, made of 8 smaller ones, can be open and folded, in one direction, until it returns to its original position.

Out of the eight cubes, only two have candy in them. Most of the art on the cube is made by Superstar Funana, with the exception of two parts that feature art by Don Figueroa
