==Synopsis==
[[Image:MTMtE Part2 Greetings.jpg|left|150px|thumb|"Are you Samuel James Witwicky, descendant of Archibald Witwicky?"<br> "No."<br> "Oops, sorry, my bad." [Throws him back in the water]]]

The fire at the off-shore oil rig continues to grow. Poor [[Huffer (G1)|Huffer]] is caught in some girders, but is freed by [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]]. Not so easy to extricate are the humans [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]] and [[Sparkplug Witwicky]]. As [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] grapples with the debris trapping the workers, [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] and [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] put out the fire. Rescued by Prime, Spike and Sparkplug introduce themselves to the [[Autobot]]s, offering their terrestrial knowledge to help them.

[[Image:MTMtE Part2 Spike Soundwave.jpg|right|150px|thumb|A legacy of Stupid Human Tricks begins here.]]

Their newfound human friends return with the Autobots to their headquarters. As Spike explores the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], he finds a small cassette player and brings it in with him, setting it aside. Little does he realize he has brought [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]] into Autobot Headquarters. Soundwave and his minion [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] begin using [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]] to locate [[Earth]]'s most plentiful energy resources. Meanwhile Spike enjoys a tour of the headquarters and some sunset joyriding with [[Hound (G1)|Hound]]. Returning to the base, Spike spots Soundwave's intrusion and sounds the alarm. Soundwave escapes, but the Autobots catch Ravage, thanks to [[Gears (G1)|Gears]]' infrared light.

Soundwave briefs [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] on his findings. Megatron decides to attack [[Sherman Dam]], causing a tidal wave to increase the dam's output. The next day, the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] arrive at the dam. [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] dives into the river and activates his piledrivers to whip the river into dangerous rapids. The energy output is detected by Teletraan I, and the Autobots rush there to stop the Decepticons.

[[Image:MTMte Part2 Autobotsrally.jpg|left|150px|thumb|Raise your hand, raise your haaaand—if you're sure!]]

With the river at its peak, the Decepticons begin producing [[Energon cube|energon cubes]]. The Autobots arrive, and a battle ensues. Hound dives into the river to stop Rumble's quaking, and the two scuffle in the depths, with the Autobot coming off worse. [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Bumblebee (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Bumblebee]] help divert the course of the river to save a nearby neighborhood from being flooded. Megatron and Optimus Prime duel with [[Energy weapon|energy melee weapons]] atop Sherman Dam while exchanging insults. Megatron knocks Prime into the rapids (the latter was distracted by Spike's shouts for help) and he and his Decepticons escape with their spoils.

[[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] helps pull Prime from the river. The Autobots regroup and vow to stop the Decepticons as they continue their activities across the land... but apparently don't do a very good job of it at ''all''. The space cruiser they are developing is almost complete, and they are one more energy raid away from having enough fuel to return to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Unfortunately, the impudent [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] feels the need to test some of the energon cubes. His wasteful experimenting forces the Decepticons to now make two trips. Their first destination, the [[Ruby Crystal Mines of Burma]]. These plans are overheard by Trailbreaker, Spike and Sparkplug, who are eavesdropping on the Decepticons.

[[Image:Mtmte2 witwickys and trailbreaker.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Trailbreaker deploys his combat bird bath.]]

As Trailbreaker returns to Autobot headquarters to relay the news, the trio are attacked by a pair of generic [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]]. Sparkplug radios for help, which comes in the form of [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]] and [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]]. Sunstreaker uses a vehicle-mode cannon to give one of the Seekers a small scratch on its wing, prompting the two jets to retreat.

The Decepticons are soon in Burma, pulling energetic rubies from the Earth's crust. The Autobots wait for them outside the mine. Wheeljack has developed a powerful and compact explosive. Bumblebee and Sparkplug volunteer to plant the charge in the mine. They do so, but are caught by [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] and [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] as they make their escape.

Concerned that Sparkplug and Bumblebee haven't returned, Optimus Prime drives up the mine's entrance and dispatches [[Roller]] into the mine. The explosive detonates, and the blast knocks Prime off his wheels, sending him tumbling down the mountainside.

==Notes==
===Non-final premises===
[[Image:G1 cartoon Autobots fly.JPG|thumb|right| ]]
As part of the series pilot, this episode features some conventions and details which would be changed for the series proper:
* The Autobots can all fly in robot mode.
* [[Corey Burton]] employs a different voice for Brawn, one that is higher and more hoarse-sounding than the "correct" version that will appear in later episodes. The same voice pops up again in "[[A Plague of Insecticons]]" (after Skyfire catches a falling Brawn).
* Mirage gets a different sound effect for his disappearing abilities (which would actually be used again in "[[The Ultimate Doom, Part 3]]".
* Wheeljack acquires a bit of southern accent in the third act of this episode. Oddly, he already had his finalized voice in the previous episode, and indeed, shows no real signs of the accent in his sparing lines during this episode's first two acts. Consequently, fans have speculated that voice actor [[Chris Latta]] was trying to differentiate the voice from his Sparkplug voice, as they ''are'' pretty identical, and he only begins to affect the accent when Wheeljack and Sparkplug share a scene.
* The "next time" preview refers to the three episodes collectively as "The Transformers". They would later be rechristened "More Than Meets the Eye" (obviously!)

===Animation or technical glitches===
* In the recap of "Part 1" at the beginning of the episode, a scene is shown in which Optimus Prime is trying to lift a grate trapping Spike and Sparkplug. However, in "Part 1", the grate was orange, while in the recap that same grate is shown as gray.
* Huffer's trapped arm does not appear to actually connect to his torso.
* As Huffer and Brawn converse, Brawn's lips move for Huffer's line, "Let's take off."
* Prime's running lights are drawn as rectangular instead of round as he explains the Decepticons to Spike and Sparkplug.
* After picking up Soundwave, Spike runs into the Ark carrying his rucksack slung over his shoulder. In the next shot, the rucksack has vanished.
* Soundwave's eject button is one of the most common coloring errors of the whole series. Based on his toy, it's supposed to be white in the cartoon, but almost as often as not, the colorists simply colored it the same blue as the rest of him:
** Soundwave's eject button and cheek guards are both blue instead of white as he returns to robot mode.
** Blue button as he swipes at Spike.
** And after he plays back the Sherman Dam info.
** And as Megatron pontificates about the [[ruby crystal]]s. (Cheek guards too.)
* Brawn's helmet is a bit too light as he watches Soundwave retreat.
* As the Autobots try to capture Ravage, several voices don't correspond to any actual Autobots.
* When Gears transforms, his blue parts change to red, leaving him as an all-red truck.
* Gears and Hound are also extremely tiny in their vehicle modes in the next shot, as a titanic Optimus Prime walks up behind them.
<!-- Uh... no? It's clearly dusk throughout the whole scene. * It's supposedly "too dark" to spot Ravage on the cliffs without the use of Gears's infrared, but the visuals of the scene make it look like it's happening in mid-day...even though Hound was taking Spike on an early-evening joyride just before. -->
* Soundwave is missing all his yellow stripes as he plays back Teletraan I's info on Sherman Dam.
* When arriving at the dam, Optimus Prime speaks the line "We've got to work fast", but Prowl is shown talking.
* One of the neighbors that Ironhide and Bumblebee rescue appears to be a woman in a pink dress...who is waving and moving as a ''man''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s voice says, "Thanks, neighbor!"
* When Optimus orders his troops to head to the power plant, he has a gray eyeband instead of two blue optics.
[[Image:Reflector in red.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Hey! That's my color scheme!]]
* As the Autobots blast into the power plant, they shoot down both Starscream and a Reflector colored like Starscream.
* As Starscream prepares his strange slingshot thing, one of his wing stripes becomes transparent. His wings are also mounted much higher on his back than normal.
* As Soundwave and the Reflectors fill energon cubes in a grassy meadow, there is a registration error that causes Soundwave's lower half to vanish several frames before the foreground content is meant to block it.
* The second purple jet to leave the Black Diamond mine does so alone, but when he drifts back into the shot, he's got a Rumble and a Reflector with him.
* Soundwave's visor switches from white to red and back as he and Megatron ride the elevator.
* Both he and Megatron are missing their insignia as they elevator reaches the bottom.
* While the Reflectors are stacking energon cubes, the energon cubes are translucent enough to see the background (and to see that the Reflectors' legs weren't animated).
[[Image:G1toon starscream laser turret.jpg|thumb|200px|They were only counting on having to fight three Autobots back home.]]
* Starscream's leg is disconnected from his body as he fires his cannon.
* Starscream's collar is yellow as he asks "What's the difference?"
<!-- he doesn't hand Spike the mic; it's just obscured by his hand. * During the scene in which Sparkplug radios the Autobots for assistance while riding inside Trailbreaker, when he supposedly passes the radio to Spike, the radio has vanished from his hand. -->
* Half of Starscream's collar is yellow again during "I can wait".
* The microphone that Sparkplug uses to radio the Autobots changes appearance between shots; it looks like a microphone in closeup, but more like a [[:wikipedia:Simon_(game)|Simon]] toy when Sparkplug is holding it.
* One gun, many lasers:
** The two generics who attack Trailbreaker shower him with a dozen or more lasers, despite having only two guns apiece.
* After Sunstreaker shoots one of the generics and Spike's comment, Sideswipe's shown to have a weapon in the same place as Sunstreaker's, with smoke pouring from the end.
* The ends of the ruby collection tubes are closed like test tubes, leaving the falling crystals nowhere to go.
* Prime's right antenna disappears as he points at the mine entrance.
[[Image:Weirdstreak.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Ratchet and Bluestreak just came back from the helmet salon.]]
* In the establishing shot of the Autobots outside the Burma ruby mines, Ratchet's head is black and gray. When the shot is repeated, Bluestreak's head is yellow, making his head resemble Bumblebee's.
* Only the front of Wheeljack's "ears" flash as he shows off his new explosive.
* Sideswipe's helmet is red instead of black as Bumblebee transforms in front of him.
* Starscream's face is white instead of gray as Bumblebee and Spike spy on the 'cons.
* As Thundercracker faces Sparkplug, his wing insignia are rendered as purple rectangles. As he joins Skywarp to double-team Bumblebee, they're missing completely.
* Jazz's helmet and hand are mostly white instead of black as he worries about Bumblebee.

===Continuity errors===
[[Image:G1 cartoon Autobot letters.JPG|right|200px|thumb|"Okay, Spike, here's your next Cybertronian lesson!"<br/> "Uh...for a...good...time...call..."<br/> "Whoops! Wrong screen!"]]
* Brawn uses a blow torch to free Huffer's oil-soaked arm, and somehow, it doesn't catch fire.
* For some reason, Sunstreaker and Cliffjumper are just sitting around in the repair bay in automotive form.
[[Image:AirWarriors MTMtE.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
[[Image:GenericDecepticons MTMTE.jpg|thumb|right|200px|"Rumble, Rumble, Rumble, Rumble, eject. Operation: crowd filler."]]
* This episode totally shatters the previous episode's consistent cast of Decepticons, which was clearly shown to be Megs, Soundwave, 3 jets, 3 Reflectors, and 3 tapes. To pad out the Decepticon ranks, a horde of generic Decepticons just starts appearing out of nowhere:
** A light purple-gray jet is standing behind Thundercracker after the Decepticons land at the dam.
** As Reflector compresses the energon cubes, there are ''four'' Reflector robots, as well as three Rumbles. The real Rumble is, at this point, still underwater, fighting with Hound. Rumble shows up in two more subsequent shots as well, including one where he's the only guy in the shot!
** And then it all goes to hell after the Sherman Dam sequence. Two purplish jets are with Thundercracker in the snow. Then a subsequent pan shot shows ''four'' light blue jets, ''three'' light purple jets, and ''two Thundercrackers''.
** At the Black Diamond mine: three purple jets, and a slate blue Rumble.
** The assembled strike force: two Skywarps, two Thundercrackers, four Rumbles in yellow, orange, bright blue and slate blue, and ''seven'' Reflectors.
** Two lavender and one slate blue jet answer Megatron's order to "Scramble!"
** A shot of the Decepticons in flight shows a total of ''twenty-seven'' robots.
** Two generics even get their own scripted appearance, attacking Trailbreaker, complete with speaking parts!
** After all that, there's not much point in noting 2 blues and 2 lavenders loading ruby crystals, is there?
** 6 generic jets plus Starscream as Bumblebee and Spike observe the 'cons mining the crystals.
* Megatron's definition of "tidal wave" is a bit wonky, considering that Rumble doesn't really make one huge wave. Of course, we wouldn't expect ''aliens'' to have a perfect grasp of the English language.
* When Spike tells Jazz that there's trouble at Sherman Dam, the screen shows what is presumably Cybertronian text. Spike shouldn't be able to read this.
* Likewise, the dam worker says "she's gonna blow" (twice!) in reference to the crumbling dam. The dam might crack, fail, or give way, but neither the dam nor the generators are likely to ''explode''.
* Superhuman Spike:
** A shot of Sherman Dam shows us that the water behind it (where Rumble is making his earthquake) is clearly hundreds of feet deep. Somehow, Spike just leaps right into it to rescue Hound. The water is also ''ragingly'' turbulent in the previous shot, yet perfectly still once Spike is actually in it.
** He then has no trouble at all moving a big boulder that's pinning Hound in place.
** It must be hereditary. Sparkplug survives being punched directly in the ribcage and into a stone wall by Thundercracker. He should be wall-pizza after that.
[[Image:Rubycrystalminesofburma.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Thus explaining why Burma was the dominant world superpower in 1984.]]
* Why does Megatron yell to his troops to "Follow me!" when he's getting bashed around by Prime?
* One of the shots of filling energon cubes appears to take place in a forest, with no machinery of any type in sight. Are they stealing energy from trees?
* A few shots from Starscream's little cannon drain a whole gigantic stack of energon cubes. Are the cubes really ''that'' paltry?
* The likelihood of rubies being a viable power source, let alone "the richest source of energy on the face of the Earth", is questionable. Apparently Megatron is not yet familiar with the bizarre physics of cartoon Earth, where all kinds of super-powered crystals are just sitting around waiting for someone to sap energy out of them.
* Sparkplug claims to have previously worked in the ruby mine, which, while not thoroughly implausible, seems unlikely for an American oil rig worker/mechanic.
*Wheeljack tells Sparkplug that the bomb timer is 60 seconds. All the views of the countdown timer show it decreasing at approximately two units per second, meaning that the bomb would go off in about 30 seconds

===Rhino DVD release===
* Hound is part of the group that leaps into the air. However, in the next shot, Hound is on the ground by the river with Spike.

===Continuity notes===
[[Image:Mtmte2 ironhide diverting river.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
[[Image:Mtmte2 shermandam.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
* Gadgets and powers:
** Brawn uses a retractable welding tip to cut Huffer free. This same hooked welding tip seems to be fairly standard Autobot equipment, showing up in many future episodes, attached to many different 'bots.
** Trailbreaker's "force shield" is fired from a three-pronged wrist-gun.
** Wheeljack can shoot a fire extinguishing chemical of some sort from his retracted wrist.
** Jazz uses a retractable grappling hook that slides out of his wrist (with a little pulse-glow of energy, no less.) This gadget will show up a couple more times in this and the next episode.
** Soundwave gives us the most overt instance of size-changing we've yet seen.
** A couple of stock powers make their debut, as Hound demonstrates his holograms and Mirage turns invisible.
** Gears displays his infrared. Well, actually, it's just a red light. Don't tell anyone.
** Jazz and Prowl can both fire energy-net things out of their wrists. Prowl will repeat this ability in "[[Attack of the Autobots]]".
** "The <s>noal</s> null ray" actually does what it's supposed to this time, shutting down some generators when Starscream shoots them with it.
** When Hound submerges to pursue Rumble, he drops a face shield into place, implying he may be susceptible to water.
** Ironhide has a mounted cannon in the back of his van. It's heavily based on the similar cannon that his toy's repair bay has.
** In one of the series' most inexplicably well-remembered scenes, Megatron and Optimus both deploy glowing, semi-solid energy weapons from their wrists: a morning star and an axe, respectively.
** Trailbreaker can deploy a roof-mounted radar dish to listen in remotely on the 'cons.
[[Image:Roller deploy.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
* Early in the episode, the scene is shown changing from the Ark to a similar-looking shack nearby. This shack appears to have the same construction as the Ark itself, but is not a part of the ship. It is almost never seen again, except in the episodes "[[The Ultimate Doom, Part 2]]" and "[[The Autobot Run]]".
* As he returns to tape mode to enter Teletraan I, Ravage's missiles disappear in a glowing flash.
* According to Starscream, 1,750,000 KiloWatts is not enough electrical power to make energon cubes!
* The script that Teletraan I displays differs significantly from the Ancient Autobot language the Decepticons find in "[[Cosmic Rust (episode)|Cosmic Rust]]". It's also rather different from the Ancient Cybertronian that [[Cerebros (G1)|Cerebros]] finds on the control panel of the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] in "[[The Rebirth, Part 1]]". One might reasonably fanwank it by saying that Jazz is reading the modern version of these languages.
* Optimus deploys Roller for the first time. He's gray, based on an earlier iteration of the toy, rather than the blue of the US release.

===Real-world references===
* [[Burma]] is a country in southeast Asia, currently known to the United Nations as Myanmar. It is, indeed, particularly rich in rubies, and is the source of 90% of the world's supply of the gems.

===Japanese version===

*'''Cut:''' After Spike picks up Soundwave outside and runs off, a few seconds are shaved off of him disappearing off screen. The long shot of him running through the entrace of the Ark is cut, as are the first few seconds of him running down the hall of the Ark with Soundwave clutched in his right hand.

===Trivia===
* The dam sequence was adapted for the UK comic story "[[Decepticon Dam-Busters!]]" in issues #29-30, and also released as a set of [[View-Master]] reels. The weapons used by Prime and Megatron would be immortalized in toy form several times, and even get a bit of an homage in the live-action movies, where Prime twice wields orange-glowing bladed energy weapons.
* Much of the character animation in this episode is pleasingly fluid, with some rather dynamic transformations. Decepticons in particular do lots of flips as they transform.
* Bumblebee's mission is hilarious. He transforms to car mode, drives about twenty feet, returns to robot mode, stands outside the mine and says "Come on, let's go inside." Well, what ''else'' where you planning there, 'Bee?
==Synopsis==

==Notes==
===Non-final premises===

===Animation or technical glitches===
* One gun, many lasers:

===Continuity errors===
* Superhuman Spike:
All the views of the countdown timer show it decreasing at approximately two units per second.

===Rhino DVD release===
* Hound is part of the group that leaps into the air. However, in the next shot, Hound is on the ground by the river with Spike.

===Continuity notes===
[[Image:Mtmte2 ironhide diverting river.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
[[Image:Mtmte2 shermandam.jpg|thumb|right|200px| ]]
* Gadgets and powers:

===Real-world references===
* [[Burma]] is a country in southeast Asia, currently known to the United Nations as Myanmar. It is, indeed, particularly rich in rubies, and is the source of 90% of the world's supply of the gems.

===Japanese version===

===Trivia===
==Synopsis==
[[Image:Nemesis2 Primal and Tigerhawk charge.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Optimus and Tigerhawk conclude that it is better to fight and die than run.]]
[[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] has raised the ''Nemesis'' from its watery grave and has begun a random attack on everything in sight, all the while quoting the [[Covenant of Primus]]. After telling Rhinox to "deploy [[Operation Eternity]]", [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Tigerhawk]] attempt to fight it off, but their weapons don't even scratch the hull. Tigerhawk tells Primal to rally the Maximals and that he will remain to fight. On the ''Nemesis'', [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]] is commenting that his [[spark]] has changed and feels complete. Aspects of [[Dinobot (BW)|the original Dinobot]] begin to emerge. He admires Tigerhawk's defense. Tigerhawk is able to damage power on several decks, limiting Megatron's offensive options to using the fusion cannon, which he uses to destroy Tigerhawk. Going to the [[Protohuman]] settlement, Megatron prepares to destroy it. Dinobot objects, asking where the honor is in such an act, but Megatron fires anyway, killing [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] and [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] in the process.

[[Image:Nemesis2 Nemesis over Mount St. Hilary.jpg|right|200px|thumb|The Nemesis hovering like some vast, predatory bird over Mount St. Hilary.]]
At [[Mount St. Hilary]], the Maximals are preparing a last-ditch strategy—bring the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] online and fight the ''Nemesis''. However, the ship has been offline too long, and [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] are having trouble restoring power. The ''Nemesis'' arrives, but Tigerhawk's attack has depleted its [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] reserves, and the fusion cannon requires time to recharge. Megatron activates its tractor beam, and Primal enters the ''Nemesis''. He and Megatron duke it out, but the Predacon clearly has the advantage. On the Ark, the Maximals manage to get the engines on line, but they burn out almost instantly. [[Rattrap]] proclaims that they are all going to die, and for once, no one tells him to shut up.

[[Image:Megatron Primal Nemesis 2.JPG|left|200px|thumb|If Optimus can't beat Megatron, what chance do we have?]]
However, Dinobot, disapproving of Megatron's actions, sends a message to the Maximals of an [[Autobot Shuttle Omega Delta|Autobot shuttle]] stored in the Ark. Megatron orders Dinobot to fire, but he refuses, stating that he has his honor. In a last bid to save them all, Rhinox pilots the shuttle on a collision course with the ''Nemesis''' bridge, crashing through the viewport and going out the other side. Optimus urges Dinobot to save himself, but he remains with the ship, biding farewell to Primal. As the ''Nemesis'' crashes, Primal rejoins the Maximals.

[[Image:Nemesis2 Autobot shuttle Earth.jpg|right|200px|thumb|The Beast Wars are over—finished. But [[The Reformatting|it never ends]]!]]
Some time later, the Maximals, having repaired the shuttle and rigged a [[transwarp]] cell to it, leave [[Earth]] for [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Optimus, piloting the ship, declares that the [[Beast Wars (event)|Beast Wars]] are over, and memorializes the Maximals who fell during the war. Rattrap, however, is more happy to be going home and points out that they won't have to see Megatron 'til they get there, as the Predacon is tied to the hull of their shuttle. As the shuttle enters transwarp, the scene shifts to the Protohumans, who have built a village and are using parts of Inferno and Quickstrike in a ritual to celebrate their new leader...[[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]].

In the ultimate act of karma, Waspinator declares that he is "happy at last."
"'I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come! And you will know my name is Megatron when I lay my vengeance upon you!'"<br />
"You have already read the Covenant of Primus?"<br />
"Just the good parts."
:—'''Megatron''' and '''Dinobot II'''

"Quickly, go to your fellow Maximals. Prepare them! If Megatron destroys the ''Ark'' and its occupants, history as we know it will unravel."<br />
"You can't stop that thing alone."<br />
"Perhaps, but it is my destiny to try. I will hold the line here. Go!"
:—'''Tigerhawk''' and '''Optimus Primal'''

"Ah, NOOOO!" [''smashes the blast doors''] "This ends here, Megatron. No more good friends will be sacrificed to your insane ambition. I swear it! NO MORE!"<br />

"Hmm, I suppose, given my imminent godhood, these primitives should really be beneath my intention. Ah, still, no score is too small to settle, I always say."<br />
[''growls''] "You dare use the h-word to me?!"<br />
"I…I apologize. I…I merely felt our power should be conserved for the…the larger battle."<br />
"Uh, duly noted...and ignored!"
==Notes==
[[Image:Transwarpcellanimaticnem2.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Yoink!]]
*[[Kid Rhino]]'s Season 3 box set contains an animatic with additional footage cut out from the final episode (presumably to save time). One of the edits shows Optimus Primal tearing out a [[transwarp cell]] from the ''Nemesis'''s control deck prior to telling [[Dinobot II]] to save himself. The transwarp cell is later seen towards the end of the (finished) episode, installed to the controls of the Autobot shuttle, explaining how the Maximals were able to travel through both space and time and return home.
*In an interview, Furman stated he was approached at BotCon 1998 to write a "G1-centric" episode, and worked closely with Bob Forward on what would become "Nemesis" (they originally weren't sure who'd write which part). Various ideas were pitched, but for reasons of budget and a lack of a fourth season meant everything needed to be wrapped up here; one key decision was to ensure the core cast "got a good send off, one that didn't leave them in limbo". Bob would do most of the Dinobot 2 writing. [http://www.bwint.net/interviewsimonfurman.htm]
*In the early plot of the episode, the Maximals successfully launched the Ark instead of an Autobot shuttle. Also, [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]], [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] and [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] would be reactivated and ram into the Nemesis instead of the Autobot shuttle. This would have possibly explained where the three [[Conehead]]s came from when they suddenly appeared in season two of the original cartoon. This is one of the more popular reasons as to why writer Simon Furman included Dirge as a [[Herald of Unicron]] in [[Worlds Collide]].
*It should be noted that ''had'' Megatron heeded Dinobot and not turned the fusion cannon on the proto-human colony, he would have most likely won the Beast Wars, by the simple fact that it would have been fully charged by the time the [[Nemesis (G1)|''Nemesis'']] reached the Ark (As pointed out by Dinobot, the fusion cannon's reactor was depleted to 65% power when they had arrived) without the Maximals having a chance to prepare in time. In retrospect, this could be why he makes such a big deal about displaying honor [[The Weak Component|later on...]]
*This appears to be the first time that an Optimus loses a tooth in battle, but it would not be the [[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|last]]

===Technical/animation glitches===
*As Tigerhawk is about to be overwhelmed by the fusion cannon, it cuts to a reaction shot by Dinobot, whose "monocle" is on the wrong eye.
*When Optimus returns to the Maximal base and tries to communicate with Tigerhawk, his right wing is missing.
*At one point, Optimus tears his wing off and tosses it to jam the giant grinder mechanisms on the bottom of the ''Nemesis''. However, in the next scene in which he appears, his wing has been replaced with no explanation.
*As the Maximals await their doom inside the Ark and Rattrap comments on how they're "all gonna die", he's missing his robot-mode "backpack".
*Megatron apparently transforms to dragon mode off-screen, transforms back to robot mode on-screen before the scene cuts away, then when next we see him, he is in dragon mode again!
*For most of the episode, Optimus is missing the "blast shields" that he usually wears on either his forearms or shoulders.
* In the final battle scene, Dinobot is flipped horizontally. (See first glitch.)

===Continuity errors===
[[Image:G1Megs Nemesis part2 deletedclip.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Ploink!]]
*Although it was cut from the final episode for time, the script called for Generation 1 Megatron's spark to be removed from BW Megatron and placed back in its proper body before the Maximals leave Earth. This very brief scene was animated and can be seen on Beast Wars Season 3 box sets produced by [[Kid Rhino]] and [[Madman Entertainment]]. It should be noted, however, that despite the cut, Optimus's lines from that segment were still included in the episode, albeit used in a different context.
*In "[[Other Victories]]", Megatron is perplexed by the idea of Tarantulas trying to destroy the Ark and Tigerhawk states that doing so would erase those descended from Autobots and Decepticons. So why is Megatron doing it ''now''? Considering his religious babbling, it comes off like he's gone mad and thinks it'll erase everyone ''but'' him...
*It seems unlikely that the Maximals would leave a Predacon on Earth, even one as incompetent as Waspinator. It's possible they just didn't know he was still alive, though in the ''Beast Machines'' episode "[[The Catalyst]]", Blackarachnia remarks that she was aware that they'd left him stranded on prehistoric Earth.

===Transformers references===
*There is the ''Nemesis'' itself.
*"In the darkest hour, there will be a light," a line from the Covenant of Primus most likely derived from "Light our [[darkest hour]]" in [[The Transformers: The Movie]].
*Speaking of that movie, Primal's declaration of "This has to stop! At any cost" mirrors Optimus Prime's declaration of "Megatron must be stopped! No matter the cost".

===Real-world references===
*The lines Megatron reads from the Covenant of Primus bear some similarities to lines from English translations of the [[Wikipedia:Bible|Bible]] of [[Earth]]'s [[human]]s.
*One of Megatron's Convenant of Primus quotes bears stronger resemblance to the paraphrase of [[Wikipedia:Book of Ezekiel|Ezekiel 25:17]] in the film ''[[Wikipedia:Pulp Fiction|Pulp Fiction]]'' than it does to the original Bible quote.
==Synopsis==

Go!"

==Notes==
*This appears to be the first time that an Optimus loses a tooth in battle, but it would not be the[[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|last]]

===Technical/animation glitches===

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
==Synopsis==
Rhinox is in the process of engineering a way to use Teletraan I's forcefield to protect the base. But mixing Autobot and Maximal tech is difficult, and the machinery fails. With that trick failed, Primal puts together a plan to salvage the Maximals' old force field module, [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]], from the wreckage of the Axalon. Depth Charge refuses to respond to any contacts. So instead the Maximals will use a [[subaquatic stealth vessel]]—a single-occupant submarine developed by Blackararachnia. Rattrap is assigned to pilot the submersible, over his usual handful of whines and complaints.

[[Image:Rattrap-subaquatic2.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Rattrap makes a cameo in ''[[wikipedia:Atlantis: The Lost Empire.|Atlantis: The Lost Empire]]'']]
Silverbolt delivers the submarine to the Axalon's resting site. Under the lake, Rattrap is surprised to find himself having a good time exploring the water and passing by schools of fish to the sound of a jolly tune. The tune changes as Rattrap finds the fallen corpse of what used to be the Maximal's home. He slowly enters, looking through the darkened hallways. He finds Sentinel, and carefully begins to extract it - and is suddenly frightened by an eel who was hiding in the machinery. As he calms down, his radar detects something else approaching, and he realizes it's time to panic for real. Rattrap frantically tries to escape the Axalon, but a massive claw emerges from the darkness and seizes the submarine—Rampage has found him.

Rampage squeezes the entire ship, threatening to crush it completely. Luckily, Depth Charge, still hunting Protoform X, shows up and blasts him away, freeing Rattrap. Depth Charge agrees to keep Rampage busy while Rattrap continues his mission. He escapes the Axalon just as shockwaves from the battle cause the ship to fall over a ledge and plunge deeper into the lake. Rattrap surfaces and finds a worried Silverbolt, who starts to carry the submarine home. But Waspinator arrives, causing doggybot to drop his passenger and cargo.

[[Image:Changing Guard Rampage Depthcharge.jpg|right|200px|thumb|It's crab rutting season again.]]
While Rampage and Depth Charge continue their match underwater, on the beach, Quickstrike sends Waspinator to take Sentinel back to the Predacon base while the Fuzor takes care of the two Maximals. But Quickstrike ends up crushed by Rampage, tossed out of the water by Depth Charge. Silverbolt tries to convince Depth Charge to help recover Sentinel, but as usual, Depth Charge has no interest, wanting only to execute Protoform X, who has snuck away during the few seconds of conversation.

[[Image:Changing Guard Rattrap fleeing.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Burn rubber!]]
Together, using some incredible aerial acrobatics, Rattrap and Silverbolt steal back Sentinel from Waspinator. But Inferno pushes a tree into Silverbolt's path. Silverbolt passes Sentinel to Rattrap, who races away with it. Depth Charge hears explosions in the distance and decides to go help.

Unrelenting, Inferno blows up a bridge in Rattrap's path, causing the rat to plunge—back into Silverbolt's arms. But the two Maximals crash into the incoming Depth Charge, and drop Sentinel into Inferno's hands. Thanks to Depth Charge's ill-timed arrival, the Maximals have lost.

[[Image:Changing Guard Megatron Sentinel.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Why won&#39;t the red button work?]]
At the Maximal base, Rattrap and Primal chew out Depth Charge for getting in their way and handing another major strategic advantage to the Predacons—but he did save Rattrap's life (which Rattrap initially left out, and was ''very'' begrudging to admit). Primal offers Depth Charge a place with the Maximals so mistakes like this can be avoided in the future, and Depth Charge agrees to consider it.

Meanwhile, in the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]], Megatron activates Sentinel, encasing his base in a protective force field.

==Notes==
*When Megatron contacts his henchmen, Inferno can been seen spending his free time playing cards with Waspinator and Quickstrike.
*Music begins to play when Rattrap gets the hang of the submarine. At first, the audience is led to believe that this is just the score for the scene, until Silverbolt is seen hearing the music over his walkie talkie, with a raised eyebrow, to boot.
*The writer is mistakenly credited as "Evan Sommers".
*This is the only episode in which Rampage uses his [[activation code]]. ("Rampage, terrorize!")
*The submersible is supposed to have no energy signature. But if that's the case, where does it get the power to have a computerized heads-up-display for radar and damage assessment?

===Animation errors===
*When Rampage falls backward after yanking Depth Charge's tail out from under the wreckage, he inexplicably has Depth Charge's legs.
*In the scene where Inferno pushes a tree in Silverbolt and Ratrap's way, Ratrap's comm system is on the wrong side of his chest.

===Real-world references===
* The "Changing of the Guard" traditionally refers to a formal ceremony in Merry Ol' [[United Kingdom|England]] wherein the sentries providing ceremonial guard duties at important institutions are relieved by a new batch of sentries. The ceremonies are often elaborate and precisely choreographed.
* Rattrap's submarine bounces like a pinball after being dropped by Silverbolt; after it comes to a halt, the word "TILT" flashes in Rattrap's eyes.

==Synopsis==
[[Image:BOT-Road.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Here we come…drivin' down the street…]]
The [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] enter an unidentifed city for no discernible reason, then all transform to vehicle mode for no discernible reason. While transforming, [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] knocks over [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] for no discernible reason. Brawl expresses his displeasure for an obvious reason. They then drive (yes, even [[Vortex (G1)|the]] [[Blast Off (G1)|flyers]] ''drive'') about ten feet down the street and form [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] for no discernible reason. He is immediately destroyed with a single shot by [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] (who's there for no discernible reason). Defensor just leaves the pile of parts alone and unsupervised, apparently not bothering to alert the other [[Autobot]]s or anything. This enables Swindle—who has somehow survived ''without a scratch'' the explosion that reduced all the other Combaticons to a pile of parts—to gather up the bits. No human authorities are involved either.

Swindle then visits the generically evil foreign guy "[[El Presidente]]" on his ship filled with weapons in order to buy parts to repair the Combaticons.

Meanwhile, [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] is running a simulation of his new [[orbit disruptor cannon]]. After [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] whines, Megatron explains that once the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] is knocked from orbit, they will use [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]]'s new device to control the tides. They will then use this colossal power to flood a single canyon, creating "a limitless source of power". What?

At the Combaticons' base, El Presidente's men load up the weapons and more advanced computer systems from the wrecked robots, as apparently Swindle forgot about that whole "repair" thing. Swindle then leaves to take the remaining parts to a dump. Shortly after they all leave, [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] arrives, noting no one seems to be home. He discovers a piece of one of the Combaticons, then notices there's a trail of them. Confused, he asks Megatron what to do.

[[Image:BOT-Luigi.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Giant turtles out to get him, creepy crabs are right behind.]]

Swindle arrives in a junkyard, where he threatens a junkyard worker before he starts to dump the leftovers. Starscream and Skywarp discover him in the act and capture him as he tries to escape. Back at the [[Decepticon]] base, Soundwave installs a bomb in Swindle's head; he has 15 hours to reassemble the Combaticons before it goes off. Swindle takes the parts back from various mid-'80s evil foreign stereotypes and reassembles the team. However, they are unable to combine into Bruticus because Brawl's [[personality component]] is missing. Swindle is charged with getting the component back or the bomb will still go off.

Meanwhile, at [[Benjamin Franklin Pierce High School]], [[Mr. Robbins]]'s demonstration of a laser is sabotaged by two sociopathic students, [[Martin and Roland]], who boost the laser's power output so high it instantly burns a hole through steel. Rather than involve the authorities, Mr. Robbins threatens them with an "F" in his class if they don't win a blue ribbon at the science fair, and assigns [[Elise Presser]] to assist them for no discernible reason.

Outside, the two assholes meet the meek and spineless Elise. They realize a high-rise is on fire across the street, and witness the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] coming to the rescue (well, four of them; [[Blades (G1)|Blades]] appears to blow two window-washers off their rig with the wind from his rotors—the bastard). This inspires them to build a robot for their project. The three rummage for parts in the same junkyard where Swindle dumped the Combaticons' leftover remains, and Elise discovers a random piece of machinery. They spend the night in the school's lab assembling their machine, and Martin dubs it "[[B.O.T. (robot)|B.O.T.]]". After several failures, Elise installs the random piece of machinery, which turns out to be Brawl's personality component. Naturally, Brawl-B.O.T. goes postal and starts trashing the place.

[[Image:BOT-CompRoom.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Unbeknownst to all, the school was secretly funded by a hideously gargantuan Richie Rich.]]

Martin grabs the laser and fires, and B.O.T. runs off. The kids run to the school's preposterously-advanced computer lab, and use it to call the Protectobots. [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]] gets the SOS, and [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] sends [[Gears (G1)|Gears]], [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] to investigate.

Swindle re-threatens the junkyard worker, who says that maybe some kids took the part Swindle is after. Swindle mutters "you better hope so"… then proceeds to rummage through the trash, seemingly instantly forgetting that whole "kids" angle.

The [[Autobot]]s arrive at the school. The kids seem disappointed that they didn't get the Protectobots, but quickly lead them to their runaway creation in the school's cafeteria. Brawl-B.O.T. knocks all three Autobots over with a single serving pan of corn on the cob (That high-school food, I tell ya, huh? Huh?), then deflects Gears's blaster-fire with a pot lid. Ironhide shoots molten lead at Brawl-B.O.T., but he leaps to grab a light fixture, avoiding the attack, and the now-weakened floor collapses under Ironhide. Brawl-B.O.T. runs for it, barricading the door out with remarkable speed, and heads for a seemingly abandoned building… as Swindle watches.

The Autobots follow, telling the kids to stay put. They enter the building, and find that Brawl-B.O.T. has taken an elevator thirty floors up. Ironhide wedges a stick into the doors, and the trio run up the stairs. Outside, the future serial killers grow instantly impatient, and drag Elise inside the building. They remove the stick, enter the elevator and head up.

A blast erupts ''behind'' the Autobots, and Ironhide orders them to shoot up. They shoot at absolutely ''nothing'', Ironhide declares they hit whatever it was, and they run right into Swindle. Meanwhile, the elevator has stopped. Roland is lifted up so he can open the emergency hatch, and discovers B.O.T. is trying to break the elevator cables.

Sadly, B.O.T. is prevented from snapping the cables by an energy blast to the back. The Autobots pick themselves up, seemingly having been soundly thrashed by Swindle all by himself. They all run outside to witness Swindle driving away. Back at Decepticon headquarters, Brawl is restored and the bomb removed, and Bruticus is formed again.

At the school, Elise inspects the remnants of B.O.T. to find that the "funny component" is gone. Martin decides to hunt it down by reworking the machine that read B.O.T.'s "brain response" so it can track the signal. The three drive to the ocean, and Elise rewires B.O.T.'s speech synthesizer so it receives and decodes signals rather than creating them, letting them hear what Brawl hears. Megatron insists on a test-run of the cannon, and picks Autobot headquarters as the target. (Because it's in orbit, you see. Wait, no, it isn't.) The kids rush off to warn the Autobots, who send a signal to the Protectobots' base.

The Autobots apparently just sit around and wait for Megatron to set up his giant cannon, get his troops into position just outside their base, and for the Combaticons to assemble Bruticus before starting to defend themselves. Bruticus basically stumbles around until he falls apart. The Protectobots arrive and random fighting ensues.

[[Image:Elisetape.jpg|right|200px|thumb|This is the light-hearted, end-of-episode comedy beat. No, seriously.]]

Inside the base, the kids think they need to help, and Elise has a rare moment of spine. Using Teletraan I, she sends B.O.T. out into the battlefield on a beeline to the disruptor cannon. The Protectobots combine into Defensor and generate a force field, protecting about four other Autobots. The Decepticons wait until the force field wears off, then one shot blasts Defensor to pieces. Bruticus re-forms and tries to fire the cannon, but it turns and blasts Starscream and Soundwave instead. B.O.T. is working the cannon using a conveniently-placed control panel at the base, and causes it to explode by hitting the clearly-marked "overload" button, sending Bruticus flying away and forcing a Decepticon retreat.

Back inside, the Autobots thank the kids for their help and offer their apologies for the loss of their robot. Elise asks if they have any spare parts so they can try again… and Roland and Martin duct-tape her mouth shut and drag her away while the Autobots just watch… ''argh argh argh''…
{{quote|The episode "B.O.T." was one I always remembered from when I was young.
===Animation or technical glitches===
* Argh.

* The scenery in this episode is always ''huge''. In the opening scene, the five Combaticons are driving down a downtown street in a row (yes, ''even the fliers are driving on the ground'') with plenty of room. Humans are drawn tiny compared to the doors of their own buildings, and the Autobots fit easily inside human structures.

* The Bruticus scrap pile changes between shots; first it's a few scattered parts on the street, then it's a solid pile of them.

* Swindle pops out of the junk pile from beneath a yellow rectangle with wheels. The only yellow component on Bruticus is… Swindle.

* There is no indication as to what jet-mode Starscream uses to capture jeep-mode Swindle.

* When Elise says "Maybe I wired the box in wrong." one of her legs is drawn way too short, almost as if she's missing her right thigh.

* The kids create and lose B.O.T. in the middle of the night. When the Autobots reach the school, it's bright and sunny outside. If this ''isn't'' an animation error, then we are forced to assume that Brawl-B.O.T. spent several hours not doing much at all, staying inside the school the whole time, while the kids waited for the Autobots to arrive.

* The "shooting at nothing upstairs" bit might be attributed to animation/script mismatch. The animation puts the Autobots in a circular staircase so they are plainly shooting at the clearly-lit curved wall directly ahead of them. It's ''possible'' the writer intended them to be shooting up a straight staircase into darkness… but that's pure conjecture.

* During a close-up, Elise's red VW Beetle becomes Swindle-colored (including a purple hood!), then changes back and remains red through the rest of the scene.

* When the Protectobots leave their base, Blades is drawn huge compared to his teammates.

*Wheeljack's Gyro-Inhibitor appears to fire out of his left ear.

* A wall appears behind Megatron and Soundwave as they face down Hot Spot in the middle of the desert.

* When the Combaticons combine during the final battle, Vortex and Blast Off are [[Scramble City|switched]].

===Continuity errors===
* ''Argh''.

* Why didn't the Combaticons just combine into Bruticus during the opening scenes, rather than driving, transforming, transforming back to vehicles, driving '''again''', transforming, and ''then'' combining?

* Swindle goes to El Presidente to ''buy'' parts to repair the other Combaticons. The next time we see them, he's ''sold'' the Combaticon parts— for ''what'', we don't know. There is no explanation as to why he suddenly completely changed his plan.

* Gears describes the high school as a "one-level structure", but it's pretty clearly two stories.

* The kids don't seem to recognize what Transformers are, but by this point in the series, they're internationally recognized, there are holidays and tributes to them, etc. Despite this, they seem to instantly accept the existence of Transformers.

* The Autobots seem to initially not understand what a high school is.. This is in spite of the fact that they have been on Earth for a couple of years now and are friends with 3 school-aged humans, at least two of which (Carly and Chip) we ''know'' have a formal education.

===Other errors===
* '''''Argh'''''.

* Megatron's plan seems… severely overwrought. Build a giant cannon to knock the Moon out of orbit, build a device to control the tides in the Moon's absence, and use all that power to flood a canyon that contains a hydroelectric generator that they ''also'' built. Considering that in "[[More than Meets the Eye, Part 2]]" all they needed was the already-made Sherman Dam and [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] shaking up a river…

* Why does Megatron put a bomb in Swindle's head? If it goes off, he loses Bruticus for good.

* Why does Megatron have ''only'' Swindle go looking for the lost personality component? Why risk permanently losing Bruticus that way?

* How did Swindle know ''exactly'' where to find each and every Combaticon component across the globe once he sold them to ''El Presidente''?

* Fifteen hours seems like an impossibly tight deadline to track down dozens or hundreds of parts scattered ''all over the world'', retrieve them, reassemble them into complex high-tech robots, AND still have time left over to track down Brawl-B.O.T.

* Why did the Combaticons suddenly have to form a robot-pyramid to become Bruticus, when earlier and later in the episode they just floated up to their correct spots, like usual?

[[Image:Combaticon pyramid.jpg|right|225px|thumb|The Combaticons unveil their new routine as the Polyhex Cowbots cheerleaders.]]

* The teens completely fail to notice a hundred-story building that is almost completely engulfed in flames and surrounded by emergency vehicles until they hear somebody fifty stories up call for help.

* Groove claims to use liquid nitrogen to put out the fire. Liquid nitrogen boils at -198 °C (-320 °F), so it would basically boil away to a gaseous state almost instantly upon exposure to the air, and with hugely explosive force to boot.<ref>[[wikipedia:Liquid nitrogen|Liquid nitrogen at Wikipedia]]</ref> On top of that, liquid nitrogen is not pink.

* Streetwise catches the two falling window-washers with his ''metal'' arms after they've fallen about fifty stories, and somehow they're not splattered all over him.

* Three high school kids can build a robot out of junk bits and Brawl's brain that is ''stronger'' and ''smarter'' than the Autobots. (The latter would be a little more believable if it weren't for the "Brawl's brain" part.)

* When B.O.T. is first activated, Elise is forcefully flung off the ladder by its arm. Somehow, she lands with only a soft thud and no real injuries.

* The high school's computer is astounding. It is exceedingly and hugely sci-fi in design, plus, how the kids were able to use it to send an SOS to the Autobots over the phone is… [[magic]] or something.

* Autobots are weaker than kitchenware: Gears carries a blaster that was made to injure or kill alien beings made entirely of metal, but it can't shoot through a pot lid.

* Benjamin Franklin Pierce High School packs its hallways with some seriously heavy furniture.

* There is a fully functional elevator within a seemingly condemned building.

* There are 12 floor indicator lights above the elevator. Bumblebee counts at least 30.

* How did Swindle get above the Autobots on the way up? And how'd he get past them on the way down again?

* The speech synthesizer is "rewired" so that instead of "synthesizing and transmitting," it "receives and decrypts". And this somehow lets the kids listen in on a conversation being held in the Decepticon base… yeah, when this can almost be considered one of the episode's ''more'' plausible elements, something is very, very ''wrong''.

[[Image:BOT-Overload.jpg|right|225px|thumb|"I assure you, there is zero chance of this coming back to bite us!"]]

* It's never really specified why Megatron specifically needs Bruticus to fire the cannon. If it's a size thing, he also has [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] and [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. Likewise, it isn't specified why Optimus Prime thinks Defensor is the only one who can face Bruticus, when he has the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] and [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]] (for sheer size) and even [[Superion (G1)|Superion]] (as a rival combiner) to do the same.

*But to handle the controls of the cannon, the size thing is debatable because the cannon has a human-level control panel on it. Oy.

* On that note, the human-level control panel has a great big button clearly marked "Over Load" in English. Why did he install that?

*No, really, why?

* This episode was made.

===Continuity notes===
* Production-wise, it seems a bit odd to have three Season One Autobots respond to the kids' SOS, rather than showcasing the brand-new combiner team who would otherwise seem to be the spotlight buy-my-toy characters of the episode.

* This episode establishes that the Combaticons have their own separate base. As this was the last episode before the jump to 2005, this is never touched on again.

* Starscream says to Megatron "''Your'' stupid warrior" in reference to Bruticus, but Starscream was the one who made him.
===Trivia===
* '''''<u>Argh</u>'''''.

[[Image:BOT-ModelReuse.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Me an' my friends are Jem girls, especially Jimmy "The Legbreaker" Cianciulli!]]

* Mr. Robbins's class is made up of a ''very'' odd collection of students. The ''least'' odd are the two women who are just recolored character models from ''Jem'', [[Hasbro]]'s then-current cartoon-advertised foray into girls' fashion dolls. Towards the back, however, appear to be thugs in business suits.

* The class, by the way, lasts for about two minutes before the bell rings.

* This episode introduces the most loathsome ''Transformers'' characters ever, Roland and Martin. Boosting a laser to a level that could grievously injure or kill someone as a ''prank'', the misogynistic duct-taping of Elise's mouth and constantly dragging her places against her will, and a general smarmy smugness level that makes Starscream seem humble.

* Astrotrain appears in the simulation of the disruptor cannon knocking the Moon from orbit, but is never seen elsewhere.

* The original script's cast list for the episode notes that the "junkyard operator" is a spy, and that the only other thing we learn about him is that he gets taken away by the "Federal Authorities". Oh, and he has no lines.<ref>[[Metrodome]]'s Season 3 & 4 DVD set extras</ref> This bizarre plot twist obviously didn't make it into the final draft, but really, what's one more wad of nonsense at this point?

* The billboard over the Protectobots' urban headquarters seems to be advertising for [[E Cola]]. Mmmmmmm. Another advertisement for the beverage would appear years later in the Japanese series, ''[[Super-God Masterforce (cartoon)|Super-God Masterforce]]'', in the episode "[[Heroism!! The Birth of Super Ginrai]]".

* This episode was lampooned at the [[BotCon 2006]] [[MSTF]] presentation, and as far as the writers are concerned, it is the single ''dumbest'' episode in the entirety of ''Transformers'' animation.

* It is also possibly the worst advertisement for the combiner teams possible. Bruticus is destroyed with ''a single shot'' from Defensor, and later stumbles around like a concussed baby as the Autobots shoot at him. Defensor's force field is rendered utterly pointless as the Decepticons just wait for it to run out, then he too is blasted to bits with ease.

* This was the last episode of season two. Can you imagine if this was the last episode of ''The Transformers'' ever?

* Good God, I need a stiff drink.
==Synopsis==
[[Image:Cyberbee&primal.jpg|left|200px|thumb|RRAAAAIIID?!]]
While out on a specimen-gathering mission, Optimus Primal and Dinobot argue over the importance of studying the local flora. Primal finds it valuable, while Dinobot thinks the whole mission is pointless and dangerous. As he turns to leave, the plant Primal is studying shoots a seed pod at Dinobot's back, right where he can't reach. As Dinobot struggles, Primal helps remove the pod and notes that they've learned something.

Just then, the pair are ambushed by Scorponok, who manages to implant a [[Cyberbee]] onto Optimus' chest before being driven away. Back at base, Primal recuperates in a [[CR chamber]] while Dinobot explains that the bee is a viral mine designed by Scorponok to infect Optimus's core systems and humble his personality, making him too cowardly to lead adequately. Rhinox deduces that because the mine has infected all of Primal's core systems, removing the bee is impossible without killing the Maximal commander, and doing so would trigger a self-destruct that would destroy everything within sprinting distance.

[[Image:Cheetor&badoptimus.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Why does your shoulderpad have to be so big?]]
As they wonder what to do next, the CR chamber shakes and is blasted apart. Out stomps Optimus, ready for battle. The cyberbee has had the opposite effect on Primal, turning him into a crazed berserker. Obviously, Scorponok's "notorious incompetence" has caused the Predacon's plan to backfire. Still, in his current state, Primal is now a danger to himself and his teammates, and is still at risk of perishing under the system drain of the mine. Primal orders his troops to lock him up.

[[Image:Megatronsbigfoot.jpg|left|200px|thumb|I said, ''"No pictures!"'']]
The Maximals debate over what to do next, knowing that Scorponok would have the anti-virus for the mine but unsure of how to acquire it. With what little bit of clarity he has left, Optimus convinces Cheetor that they could use the mine against the Preds, and Cheetor releases him. Primal wants to take advantage of their enemy's lack of knowledge of the mine's malfunction to launch a surprise assault. When brought to the rest of the crew, his plan is shot down as being far too risky and dangerous to attempt. Optimus accidentally shoots and activates an alarm, which then sets him into a tantrum. The Maximals try to stop him, but Primal shoves them all away and takes off for the Pred base on his own.

With their options running short, Dinobot ironically suggests they "think like the old Optimus" and proposes negotiating with the Predacons for the cure, but their attempt only serves to give the Predacons advance warning of Optimus's new state and his oncoming assault. Now with the Preds on full alert and with no other course of action to take, the Maximals begrudgingly follow Optimus to the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]] to give him covering fire in his one-ape assault.

[[Image:Pileonoptimus.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Oh, exploitable!]]
After blasting his way in, Optimus takes on Tarantulas and pins him to the wall with his own weapon. Primal then breaks through another wall to grab Waspinator and blow him away. Outside, the Maximals take on Blackarachnia and Terrorsaur, giving Cheetor a chance to run inside the base.

After tearing through the Pred crew, Primal ends up confronting Megatron, who teasingly dangles the cure in front of his nose while giving an ultimatum: Submit to him and live, or stay defiant and die from the mine.

[[Image:Primalsaysnono.jpg|left|200px|thumb|When he says, "Pull my finger"...don't, okay?]]
Inspired by the plant specimen from his mission with Dinobot, Optimus chooses a third option and rips the bee from his chest, activating its self-destruct. He tosses it at Megatron and it attaches to the Predacon leader's back where he can't reach. Megatron drops the anti-virus and flees to Scorponok for help. Fortunately for Primal, Cheetor manages to arrive just in time to grab the cure and administer it to the Maximal leader before his [[spark]] gives out. Megatron reaches Scorponok, but not in time, and the Cyberbee blows just after the Maximals rush outside the base.

Primal recuperates in his quarters and finds Dinobot watching over him. Dinobot shares an uncharacteristic sentiment that he's glad Optimus is back and wanders out. Primal sees that the former Predacon has brought him a sample of the flower they were studying earlier. Awwww.

==Notes==
* Aaaw, character development. How sweet.
* The [[Cybertronix]] on the screen in Scorponok's lab reads "youve got problems", though the text and message is upside down.
* Megatron spends the entire episode in beast mode.

===Technical/animation glitches===
*After the Maximals transform to engage Scorponok during his ambush, Scorponok is seen firing missiles at them. The animation pace for this particular sequence seems a lot faster than the pace for the rest of the episode.
*May not be much of an error, but once again, Scorponok's visor optics are red momentarily when he is first blasted by Optimus Primal and finds himself on a loose log near the waterfall.
*At the end of the episode, as Optimus lies in his bed, the plate behind his head clips into his mattress.

===Continuity errors===
*Belying Rhinox's claims that removing the bee would activate a self-destruct and destroy everyone in sprinting distance, Megatron and Scorponok manage to survive being at ground zero, despite the blast blowing a slag-off big hole in the ''Darksyde''.

===Transformers references===
*This episode has the first reference to a [[spark]] in any ''Transformers'' animated continuity.

===Real-world references===
*In the scene where Primal bursts into the Pred base, he swiftly punches through the wall with Waspinator on the other side and drags him back through the hole could be a reference to a similar sequence in [[wikipedia:RoboCop|RoboCop]], especially with Optimus' stompy footsteps beforehand.

*The episode title is a pun on the concept of [[wikipedia:Guerrilla Warfare|Guerrilla Warfare]]. And though Megatron's comment that it suits Optimus makes for a nice joke and play on the title, it doesn't say much for the Predacon leader's knowledge of the the tactics. True guerrilla warfare is built on surprise attacks, sabotage, ambushes, and deception. What it certainly isn't built on is insane and suicidal frontal assaults against superior numbers.

==Synopsis==

Awwww.

==Notes==
* Aaaw, character development. How sweet.
* The [[Cybertronix]] on the screen in Scorponok's lab reads "youve got problems", though the text and message is upside down.
* Megatron spends the entire episode in beast mode.

===Technical/animation glitches===

===Continuity errors===
*Belying Rhinox's claims that removing the bee would activate a self-destruct and destroy everyone in sprinting distance, Megatron and Scorponok manage to survive being at ground zero, despite the blast blowing a slag-off big hole in the ''Darksyde''.

===Transformers references===
*This episode has the first reference to a [[spark]] in any ''Transformers'' animated continuity.

===Real-world references===

What is certainly isn't is insane and suicidal frontal assaults against superior numbers.
