Airachnid teams up with MECH to get revenge on Arcee and Jack.

Synopsis
Silas and three MECH soldiers are searching through a wooded area for a Decepticon. They jump into a web-shrouded ravine, but the three soldiers are snatched from the ground and stuck on one of the webs by Airachnid. Silas takes a shot at her, but is promptly thrown against a rock wall and webbed there. The Decepticon threatens to eviscerate him for what MECH did to Breakdown, but wants his help in finding Jack Darby and will give them Arcee.

Jack arrives home with Arcee, to find his mother mad that he's been breaking curfew and neglecting his job and schoolwork. She believes he may have been racing his motorcycle and grounds him for the next few weeks—with no motorcycle use. Arcee says she'll miss Jack during that time, but he points out that if she doesn't stay in the garage, his mom will think he's breaking her rules. Arcee promises she'll try to be back in the garage before his mom gets home each night.

The next day, as Jack's leaving KO Burger, he gets a call from his mother, who is on her way home early to make dinner for him. He frantically contacts Arcee, who's with Bumblebee in the middle of a fight with some Vehicons. Arcee leaves Bumblebee to it and bridges out. June arrives home to find the garage empty, and she blows up at Jack as he arrives on his bicycle. Arcee bridges into the garage behind her, but this merely results in June thinking one of Jack's friends snuck the motorcycle in. Jack spills all about the Autobots, but when Arcee refuses to transform, Jack's mom asks if he's been hanging out with a science fiction club. She leaves to return to work, the conversation unfinished.

Silas uses images from the black box from Airachnid's ship to track down information on Jack, including the identity of his mother. A MECH vehicle soon arrives to abduct June as she leaves the hospital.

Jack arrives home on his cycle to find Arcee, but no mom. There's a package waiting for him, which turns out to be a MECH communicator. Silas tells the pair that MECH has June, and there are GPS coordinates that will lead them to the temporary MECH facility. Arcee attempts to contact base and gets an instant headache. Silas explains the communicator will scramble her brain as well as Autobot communications. Jack and Arcee follow the communicator's map to a disused factory, where they're met by Silas and a bunch of MECH goons. They race past the MECH guys to look for Jack's mom and instead find Airachnid. Airachnid webs Arcee, who is then zapped by a MECH soldier. The 'Con tells Jack he has until midnight to rescue his mother. Jack tries to plead with Silas for help, but the MECH leader pushes him back. Jack then races off to find his mom, followed by Airachnid. Silas tells his men to start working on Arcee, as he suspects Airachnid will double-cross them.

Jack runs through the factory, but is unable to find June until Airachnid points her out, dangling in a web cocoon from a building. At this point, June awakens both to discover her predicament and to spy Airachnid. Jack tells Airachnid he's found his mom, but she points out the task was to rescue June. Webbing Jack's hand to the ground, she prepares to destroy his family.

The MECH surgeons finish cutting through the web holding Arcee, and Silas instructs them go for the heart, as they only have time to take one part. Arcee has recovered consciousness by this point, and she tosses the MECH personnel aside before leaving to help Jack.

As Jack continues to try to free his hand, Airachnid moves in on June. Before she can lay a hand on mom, however, Arcee comes barreling up a nearby roof and tackles her. Jack gets free and goes to help June, while Arcee and Airachnid battle on the factory superstructure. They eventually reach the ground, but Airachnid's laser fire damages the platform June is dangling from, and Jack has to scramble to avoid falling. Jack accidentally knocks against a lever, pouring concrete into a concrete truck on the ground. Arcee manages to kick Airachnid into a container nearby, and with Jack's help, pours concrete in on top of her. Airachnid starts climbing out, but is frozen by the quick-drying substance. Arcee goes to help June, but the concrete isn't enough, and Airachnid webs her back to the ground. Luckily, the cavalry arrives in the form of Agent Fowler with three helicopters armed with chain guns.

Silas wonders how Fowler was alerted, and then realizes Jack stole his radio earlier.

The helicopters stop firing, but this just allows Airachnid to scan Fowler's chopper and make her escape in her new altmode. Her scanning process is also observed by Silas.

Fowler introduces himself to June and attempts to weave a cover story, but June doesn't buy it. Jack introduces her to Arcee, and the next day, they go to the Autobot base so she can meet the rest of the Autobots.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
*The amount of cement shown pouring onto Airachnid isn't actually enough to cover her entire body.

Continuity errors
* June takes an early break from work to cook Jack a dinner, but then as soon as she gets home, she returns to work.
*Airachnid scans Agent Fowler's helicopter, which resembles a UH-1 "Huey", but the alt-mode she adopts is of a completely different design, resembling a futuristic RAH-66 Comanche.

Continuity notes
*Airachnid wants revenge on Arcee and Jack for the events in "Predatory".
*The rumors June heard about Jack racing his motorcycle may have been referencing the events of "Speed Metal".
*Airachnid has heard of Breakdown's treatment by MECH, which happened in the previous episode.
*Messages on Jack's social networking page refer back to "Speed Metal" (Sierra refers to a race) and "Con Job" (Miko's message about a monster truck rally references a line of dialog from that episode).
*Agent Fowler previously had a vehicle of his scanned for an alternate mode by Skyquake back in "Masters & Students".
*The soldier who reports to Fowler at the end is the same one who was on the train in "Convoy".

Transformers references
*The final sequence of Arcee and Jack taking June to the Autobot base is an almost shot-for-shot replica of the first time Jack, Miko and Raf were taken there back in the pilot. Even the same musical piece, "We Have Returned", is used.

Real-world references
*"Crisscross" as the title of this episode, with Silas acknowledging that it refers to a team-up murder plot in which each participant takes out the enemy of the other, is a reference to Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, which famously originated the use of the word "crisscross" for such an arrangement.
Trivia
*MECH has a really funny concept of "suppression fire".
*The name of the social networking page is partially obscured, but begins with "Some Social".
*Fowler got someone else to pilot his helicopter for him this time.
*Silas calls June Darby "Miss Darby", but Fowler calls her "Mrs. Darby".
*Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Bulkhead, Raf, and Miko all cameo at the end, but have no lines.
*The way Airachnid says "'Transformer', was it", implies that Cybertronians don't use that term themselves and that it's mainly an invention of humans.
*This is the first time anyone from the Autobots' team meets Silas face to face.
*The photo in the Darby household is the opening shot from Darkness Rising, Part 1, only flipped.
Breakdown is captured by MECH, and the only ones who can save him are... Team Prime.

Synopsis
Bulkhead is fighting Breakdown in a ghost town on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Eastern Russia after the two have a run-in while tracking an energon signature. Though Bulkhead fights valiantly, Breakdown lays him flat with a hammer blow. As Breakdown prepares to finish the unconscious Bulkhead off, he's zapped by a blast of energy from a helicopter, which lands and disgorges Silas and a pack of MECH troops. Silas instructs them to take Breakdown. Bulkhead comes around to find Breakdown missing and Miko calling out to him on the comm. After he bridges back to base for repairs, everyone's confused about what happened to Breakdown. Agent Fowler has an idea who might be behind it.

On the Nemesis, Starscream relays news of Breakdown's capture to Megatron. Starscream is keen to hunt down the humans responsible, but Megatron intends to leave Breakdown to his fate for being captured by those weaker.

Breakdown recovers to find himself firmly attached to a metal slab. Silas introduces himself to the captive, who announces that Megatron will never pay a ransom, but Silas reveals they're not after money, just the technology in Breakdown's body.

Fowler fills the Autobots in — his intel has reported MECH activity in the Kamchatka Peninsula. While the other Autobots are happy for MECH to have Breakdown, Optimus Prime decides to mount a rescue mission. The others are surprised, and Bulkhead wonders if Optimus believes Breakdown will switch sides if the Autobots rescue him, but Optimus says while that's unlikely, they can't let MECH get Cybertronian technology.

Meanwhile, MECH have disengaged Breakdown's pain receptors in preparation for the operation. Silas thanks their captive in advance for the service he is about to do them, and the heavy machinery moves in to take the Decepticon apart.

Miko tries to talk Bulkhead into going on the mission, but he's not keen, and Optimus agrees he would not be an asset on the mission. Optimus departs with Ratchet, Bumblebee and Arcee. Miko looks disappointed, and Bulkhead suggests they watch a movie instead.

Prime's team arrives in the ghost town, to find it deserted. Though Bumblebee spots some vehicle tracks, Ratchet reports he's got an energon trace, and they go to look for the source.

Fowler has already fallen asleep in front of Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape. Miko isn't watching the movie though, as she's disappointed that Bulkhead isn't getting to face down his own arch-enemy. Bulkhead still doesn't want to rescue the 'Con, but Miko points out that if he doesn't, he won't get to have a rematch. Bulkhead takes the GroundBridge to Russia.

Prime's team finds the energon reading — it's Breakdown's eye, sitting in the open.

Bulkhead follows a MECH car to a railway tunnel and, weapons primed, ventures inside.

Ratchet hooks Breakdown's eye up to his scanner so they can retrieve the last images it saw, but it turns out that Silas has turned the eye into a two-way video feed. Silas is surprised to see the Autobots, but shows off the work they're doing on Breakdown and points out the bomb the Autobots are standing virtually on top of. Prime's team just manages to get clear before the bomb explodes.

Silas passes on the news to Breakdown that his would-be rescuers are Autobots, much to the captive's confusion. At this point, Bulkhead breaks through an outer door and fights his way through the MECH goons to find Breakdown. Freeing the startled Decepticon, Bulkhead leads the way to the exit, but once outside, they're confronted by the bulk of the MECH forces. Bulkhead calls for backup, and the pair start fighting in earnest. Silas's 'copter begins firing bursts of energy, and Breakdown, in an uncharacteristic act of altruism, knocks Bulkhead out of harm's way. The fight continues, but Silas's copilot reports incoming signals, resulting in Silas ordering a general retreat. Arriving, however, is not Optimus's team, but Starscream and a bunch of Vehicons. Starscream orders Breakdown to destroy Bulkhead, and though Breakdown is initially reluctant, Starscream sways him, and he attacks his Autobot rescuer. Bulkhead soundly pummels Breakdown before smashing Starscream and taking out the Vehicons with Breakdown's body. The Decepticons are forced to retreat as Optimus's team finally shows up. Optimus is impressed that Bulkhead has risen above his petty rivalries to rescue Breakdown, but the moment is spoiled by Bulkhead asking if they all saw how he bashed the Decepticons.

Breakdown pauses short of the Nemesis, where Starscream informs him that he will repay his debt one day... when he must choose between Megatron's leadership and Starscream's.

Silas records that the information they gained from Breakdown was enough for them to start Project Chimera...
Continuity errors
* Moments after calling Optimus Prime by name and stating that he was expecting Megatron, Silas tells Breakdown about his "would-be rescuers" without moving from the same location from which he had just been talking to them—yet Breakdown seems to have no idea that they were Autobots. How did he not hear the conversation?
* Silas has Breakdown's pain receptors shut off so he doesn't make a lot of noise while being operated on. If this is the first Cybertronian they've managed to capture, much less dissect, how would his scientists know how to do such a thing?
Trivia
* MECH can carve up Breakdown with ease with their surgical lasers, but the guns they give their foot soldiers are not particularly effective on Transformers without pouring on massive amounts of firepower. Clearly, MECH's soldiers should be equipped with surgical lasers instead.
*The episode was screened at 2011 before its first airing on television.
*Starscream got a new arm. It's still not an upgrade.
*Miko seems to have learned her lesson: She didn't follow Bulkhead this time.
*Human death must have occurred during Bulkhead and Breakdown's outdoor battle with MECH. Case in point: Breakdown throwing a car at a helicopter, causing a midair explosion.
*The Kamchatka Peninsula is an actual place, with heavy volcanic activity. But if the show is placed in 2011, there are no recorded evacuations in 1991 due to volcanic activity.
*In the close-up shots of Breakdown before MECH drills into his right eye, you can see it twitching along with the right corner of his mouth. Who knew Cybertronians had tics?
The Autobots assist Fowler with transporting a nuclear device.

Synopsis
The Autobots get an angry call from Fowler. His plane's been shot down while transporting the hi-tech Dynamic Nuclear Generation System, or the "Dingus", a volatile nuclear device, and he needs help in completing his mission. Optimus says that using the ground bridge to transport it would be too dangerous, so instead they'll have to take it by road. They soon have it loaded into a trailer which Prime starts hauling, with Bulkhead and Bumblebee as an escort. Fowler's disappointed he doesn't get to drive. Ratchet and the kids monitor their journey from base.

Optimus is irritated by Fowler's enthusiasm with the horn. Unknown to any of them, the convoy is being observed by a helicopter. Fowler and Optimus are discussing whether there was any evil on Earth before the Decepticons came, when they spot the helicopter, which Fowler believes is a Decepticon. Five green sportscars move in on the convoy, but Optimus warns everyone to maintain their cover and stay in vehicle mode. Ratchet's surprised that they're not showing up on his sensors. All is made clear when one of the cars draws level with Optimus's cab, and a masked human aims a gun at Fowler. Optimus orders the other Autobots to use non-lethal force only. Bumblebee knocks one of the cars, flipping it over, but another drives up alongside Optimus. One of the masked goons climbs onto Optimus and starts attempting to sever the trailer. After Prime knocks the car off the mountainside road, Fowler climbs out and grabs the masked goon, but loses him before he can start the interrogation.

The fellow in the helicopter makes contact over the walkie and introduces himself as Silas, part of the MECH organization, who intend to steal the Dingus for their own use. One of the cars pulls up behind Optimus and the MECH goons blow the trailer's back door open, only for Arcee to jump out in motorcycle mode and flip their car, causing it to explode. While Optimus warns Fowler not to take Silas lightly (due to personal experience), Ratchet informs them they're nearing the rendezvous point.

On the Nemesis, Soundwave has intercepted the communications, and Starscream sends a bunch of Vehicons to join the party.

The Autobots reach the rendezvous point and duck into a rail tunnel alongside a train. Bulkhead seals off the incoming end. A short time later, they and the train emerge from the other end of the tunnel, and Silas continues to follow the Autobots. As luck would have it, the Vehicons take this opportunity to appear and open fire on the convoy. The Autobots avoid getting hit, but Prime's trailer is shaken loose and explodes. The Vehicons transform and move in, forcing Optimus to inform Fowler that they're going to have to break cover to survive. Silas observes the fight and notes that the rumors he's heard of living technology are true. He lets Fowler know that he's aware the Dingus was transferred onto the train while the Autobots were in the tunnel, and the helicopter moves off to intercept the cargo. Unfortunately, while Fowler's giving Optimus the bad news, the Autobot leader takes a tree trunk to the face and falls off a nearby cliff.

The kids have a frantic discussion about a plan B. Miko's in favor of Ratchet ground-bridging the kids onto the train so they can fight the MECH goons. With Raf's help, Jack and Miko are soon on the train. As the MECH helicopter tries to land on top of the train, Raf flips a point switch to make the train go off along another line. In response, the helicopter's pilot hacks Raf's laptop, causing it to short out. On the second try, the helicopter lands atop the carriage the Dingus is in, and the MECH guys start cutting through the carriage roof.

Not far away, the Autobots continue their fight with the Vehicons. Optimus comes around and sees the train in trouble.

Miko and Jack grab weapons, which they wave at the MECH guys when the ceiling's opened. Back in the chopper, Silas spots Optimus running alongside and sounds a retreat. As the helicopter heads away, he fires a missile and takes out the track ahead of the train. Due to Raf's laptop being out of commission, Ratchet no longer has the train's coordinates and can't bridge the kids out. They prepare to jump, but Optimus zooms past, grabs the front of the train and brings it to a halt in the nick of time. Hovering in the helicopter nearby, Silas promises that next time the playing field will be leveled. Optimus reports back to Ratchet that the kids and the Dingus are safe, but notes that a new player has entered the game...
Notes
Animation and technical errors
* While Silas delivers his last line, the straps that cross his chest clip into each other.
* At the beginning of the episode, when Ratchet asks Agent Fowler why Starscream would bother with "such primitive technology" (i.e., the Dingus), a small light can be seen inside his open mouth, as if the light coming from his left optic sensor can be seen through it.

Continuity errors
* The Autobots have a curious definition of "minimal force". During the short battle, they run two cars off the road (causing both to flip over) and blow up a third. The latter most likely killed the passengers. It's amazing the others came out unharmed, considering one was hanging out of the sunroof of his car at the time.
<!--NOT AN ERROR: Silas' attempt to destroy the Dingus at the end of the episode. There's no indication he's aware of just how nasty that thing going up would be; when the decoy trailer goes up, the MECH pilot merely indicates there's no detectable radiation. If they knew about the five-state irradiation deal, they'd probably be just a wee bit more on edge and wondering why they weren't dead.-->
* On the monitor inside the Autobot base, the fork is shown to be on the right side of the rails. When the scene changes to show the running train, it is shown to be on the left.
* The car in front of Bumblebee disappears after the Autobots begin applying force. There is nothing to show whether Bumblebee took care of the car in the front or if it was forgotten in the writing of the episode.

Continuity notes
*The plane Fowler was transporting the Dingus on is the same one he had in "Masters & Students". And he's still flying without any kind of pilot gear on. Dude is hard core.

Transformers references
*Optimus's trailer is adorned with the same paint scheme as his Generation 1 counterpart's trailer.

Real-world references
* This episode is the first in Transformers: Prime to feature a reproduction of an actual real-world vehicle: The locomotive depicted hauling the 'Phase II' train is a very accurate model of a four-axle GP series model produced in La Grange, Illinois (Later London, Ontario) by Electro-Motive Diesel.
Trivia
*The train set piece germinated from Alex Kurtzman's desire to have a Train Transformer, which would have been too expensive.
*The fact that the Autobots were battling humans rather than Decepticons - a not insignificant twist in the plot - was spoiled by the next-episode preview shown during the Hub's airing of Con Job. What is this, Japan?
*As was previously featured in "Darkness Rising, Part 4", this episode features an Autobot transforming while carrying a human passenger. Fowler somehow ends up sitting in Optimus's hand rather than inside him, though.

*On board the train, Jack and Miko each pick a "weapon" of choice to face the MECH goons. Appropriately, Miko happens to take an axe, like she did to face Soundwave's tentacle, while Jack takes a fire extinguisher, like he did a couple of episodes ago.
*When Jack and Miko grab respectively, the fire extinguisher and the fire axe to fight MECH, they forget that there is a gun on the floor, dropped by the immobilized soldier. However, neither (presumably) has had firearms training, and it's unlikely that Optimus would appreciate trigger-happy allies.
*This episode might imply that Jack has feelings for Miko. So far, however, it seems to be kinda one-sided. But Miko was seen a few times grabbing Jack's arm.
*This episode may contain human death. After Arcee jumps off one of MECH's vehicles, it rolls right into another vehicle and the two explode. No humans are seen exiting the vehicles during the accident, so it is likely that they perish in the explosion.
*This episode is the first to feature a human enemy to the Cybertronians (both Autobots and Decepticons). However, they do not meet the leader, Silas, until much later whereas the Autobots only hear him speak this episode.
:Octane is a Decepticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Octane is considered vile, even by Decepticon standards. This triple changing bully is a cheat, a liar, and a coward who thinks only of himself and can't be trusted any further than Megatron can throw Devastator. The only reason that this inveterate thief is allowed to continue functioning is that he has an uncanny ability to locate stores of fuel for his fellow Decepticons, and is usually able to spin a fairly convincing excuse for why he was unable to assist them in their latest battle. As annoying and frustrating as he may be to work with, most of his allies will grudgingly admit that he does perform his job as a fuel transport quite well—if he could just get over his annoying habit of making them beg for every drop.

He is sometimes called Tankor.
:Voice actor: Beau Weaver (English), Kenyū Horiuchi (Japanese), Ignacio Campero (Latin American)

When the Decepticon forces were driven off Cybertron, Octane ended up on the barren planet of Chaar. When Cyclonus told the Decepticons that he was going to bring back Galvatron to lead them, Octane was amongst the cheering crowd. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 He then joined the beating-Autobots-to-death crowd when the Decepticons discovered Rodimus Prime and Grimlock spying on them. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2 Finally, he joined the energon-munching crowd when the Quintessons offered them energy in exchange for exterminating a group of Autobots on Goo 8739B. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3

Octane first came to the Autobots' attention while doing what he did best—thinking about himself. When Trypticon had been defeated by Metroplex and hurled into the ocean, it was Octane who first discovered that the giant Decepticon had not been destroyed, but had actually survived his untimely dunk in the water. What happened next depends on who you believe: Octane tells a tale of great heroism, where he came across the weakened and dying Trypticon and, for the glory of the Decepticon Empire and out of the good of his own heart, nursed the injured giant back to health. The rest of the world prefer to take a less charitable look at his actions, and claim that Octane merely took advantage of Trypticon to secure himself a source of high-quality energon from the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya. Whatever his motivation, it was not long before Octane and Trypticon were trading fuel for protection (even going so far as to assault passing cruise ships and then claiming they had been invading sovereign waters, though Trypticon did genuinely believe that they were invading ships). When that was no longer enough to keep their new landlords happy, Octane quickly came up with a scheme to use Trypticon in stealing all of the world's most important monuments and presenting them as gifts to the nation's leader. That got the attention of Rodimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots, who quickly crashed Octane's party. Worse, Galvatron caught wind of what had been happening, and was not amused with how selfishly Octane had been keeping Trypticon to himself. All the wheeling and dealing in the world failed in the face of Galvatron's rage, and Octane soon found himself ousted from the Decepticons (a fate he shared with his fellow Triple Changer, Blitzwing. Apparently Astrotrain was the only one of them worth keeping). Thief in the Night

Alone and on the run, Octane soon discovered that Galvatron was less than willing to let bygones be bygones. The Decepticon leader had placed a price on Octane's head, and countless bounty hunters and assassins were closing in on him. After a close call on the planet Junk, where he narrowly avoided being blown to pieces, Octane quickly decided to seek asylum with the Autobots. It was here that he met and befriended Sandstorm, a fellow Triple Changer who had recently joined the Autobots after the destruction of his home planet of Paradron. After being attacked by the Combaticons at Autobot City, the pair fled to a space station, where they were assaulted once again by a paid assassin (who was fortunately so incompetent that the two robots barely noticed he was there). Eventually settling on Cybertron, Octane still found no peace, as Cyclonus and the Sweeps tracked him down yet again. Fleeing into the forgotten Decepticon Crypt, Octane stumbled onto the ghost of the most famous Decepticon traitor ever known: Starscream. Quickly realising kindred spirits in each other, the two joined forces in an attempt to let Starscream possess Cyclonus and take over the Decepticons. Needless to say, their coup attempt failed rather miserably, and both traitors found themselves once again fleeing from Galvatron's wrath. Starscream's Ghost

Despite this, Octane was later back under Galvatron's command, joining him in a firefight with the Protectobots during an attack on the Netherlands. The Ultimate Weapon

:Voice actor: Ryōichi Tanaka (Japanese)

Under the command of Sixshot, Octane and his fellow Decepticon Triple Changers assaulted Ultra Magnus and his troops on Earth in order to prevent them from joining a battle on Cybertron. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky The three went on to defend Trypticon from Springer, Broadside and Octane's old buddy Sandstorm (there's a bromance that died out early). The Great Cassette Operation They also helped the Decepticon Headmasters steal the energy-gathering Sol 1 satellite for Scorponok. The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok On the planet Zarak, Octane acted as a cruel taskmaster, whipping the Beastformers into shape as they were forced to build Scorponok's giant Transtector. The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts He witnessed Scorponok's moment of triumph as he finally revealed his MegaZarak transtector. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! ===Marvel Comics continuity===
Generation 1
noteukonly

Octane was one of the many Decepticons left on Cybertron after Megatron's departure. Along with several others, Octane worked for the tyrant Straxus in the giant fortress known as Darkmount. He was regarded as one of Cybertron's deadliest killers, with soldiers like Macabre wanting to be seen as his equal, and considered a key target in Operation: Volcano. Target: 2006 When Optimus Prime was accidentally transported back to Cybertron and joined forces with the Wreckers to attack a Decepticon fuel store, Octane ran away from them screaming—this is the first sign his rep may be a tad inflated. He reported on the battle to Straxus, greatly over-exaggerating his own role in the battle. Resurrection!

Octane was sent to Earth by Ratbat to investigate the loss of the Carwash of Doom, but when they found the crashed ship they discovered the reason it was lost was because of Scraplets. Infected, he failed to kill Blaster Crater Critters and would end up saved by accident. The Cure!

Aside from providing valuable background appearances and occasional comic relief, Octane is also worth noting for one important thing: during a battle in the Arctic that had been set up by Starscream, Octane managed to kill the Autobot known as Mirage. Of course, Mirage was up and running again shortly thereafter, so it wasn't even a GOOD killing ("deadliest killer" my sine function) (and he didn't kill Rippersnapper during the previous battle either, as HE still functioned). Octane's death at the hands of Starscream in Buenos Aires later that day, however, WAS a good killing and lasted for quite some time. Dark Star

In 2009 of an alternate future, Octane was stationed at the Decepticon Powerbase when the last seven remaining Autobots staged a raid on it. After Laserbeak cut the rotors of the Autobot Crossblades, Octane and Astrotrain blew him out of the sky. Rhythms of Darkness!
However, one car (secretly Jazz, trying to end Octane's "games") led him on a merry chase to a military testing ground. These humans could fight back, and Octane—worried a shot in his full fuel tanks would blow him up—called Astrotrain and Blitzwing to help him. They did, until they found out he'd only gotten there by goofing off on a mission, at which point they left him to suffer. The trio forced Cosmos to lead them to the planet. There, they entered a cave, though Octane wasn't terribly keen on the prospect. In particular, Octane wanted to know if the humans had developed flight technology, which the Decepticons could exploit. Hearts of Steel issue 2
IDW comics continuity
Four million years ago, Tankor was involved in the Decepticon war effort. He was part of a convoy carrying 75 tons of energon for Megatron. Unfortunately, they were intercepted by Optimus Prime and their scout, Ramjet, knocked senseless before he could fire off a shot. Prime and Ironhide managed to capture Tankor's unit without incident by threatening to detonate the unstable energon supply they were carrying. The Iron Age

Millions of years later, during the Decepticon siege of (parts of) the world, the European Union sent a nuclear bomb to wipe out the Transformer infestation of New York City. Unfortunately the plane they sent to carry the bomb was Tankor in disguise. All Hail Megatron issue 11 Even after the Autobots arrived, Megatron ordered Tankor to proceed with the bomb drop and to rendezvous with the Decepticons later, to which he expressed his pleasure. The bomb was indeed dropped, but diverted by Thundercracker. All Hail Megatron issue 12

Unfortunately, Tankor never made it off Earth. After getting captured by humans at some point, he was liberated by a small group of Decepticons led by Swindle. New Arrivals, Old Encounters Their ragtag team then located Thundercracker in the ruins of New York, and added him to the group. Seasons in Flight During an attack on Omega Supreme, Swindle starting questioning why they were fighting in the first place. Tankor replied "Because they're Autobots!", but it turned out Swindle was looking for a somewhat deeper answer. The Decepticons subsequently allied themselves with Hot Rod's defected Autobots, working together to find a way off the planet. New Arrivals, Old Encounters Tankor was last seen assisting Silverstreak in the construction of a spaceship. Seasons in Flight

Four months after Swindle's failed attempt to betray the Autobots and steal the spaceship, the other Decepticons returned to Earth, and Tankor rejoined them. He was present as an observer when Optimus Prime confronted Megatron one-on-one, and was caught in an explosion when Prime suddenly had a satellite dropped on his nemesis. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 5: Enemy Mine

After successfully conducting an energon theft, Octane gave his pursuers, Sideswipe and Bluestreak, the runaround by switching back and forth between his alternate modes, making them think they were chasing two culprits instead of one. Once he got bored with the chase, Octane revealed himself, but that proved to be a bad idea, as Sideswipe was able to rocket above him and shoot him down. {{storylink|Henkei! Henkei! volume 6|Henkei!
Octane's skills were later to put to the test by Cyclonus, who tasked him with stealing energon from a factory. Octane upped the stakes, promising to do the job in thirty minutes if Cyclonus would deliver a good report on him to Megatron. Despite the interference of Smokescreen and Red Alert, Cyclonus held Octane to the conditions of the deal, and Octane had to try and shake the two Autobots off as he headed for the factory. Octane thought he had succeeded, but found his two opponents waiting for him at the factory, along with Cyclonus, who announced his time was up. Cyclonus departed to report on Octane's failure to Megatron leaving the hapless swindler to Smokescreen and Red Alert's tender mercies. {{storylink|Henkei! Henkei! volume 12|Henkei!
Octane had the misfortune of being possessed by the ghost of a Starscream from another dimension and being forced to attack the Autobots. He beat up on Ironhide, before being taken down by the invisible Mirage.
:Voice actor:

In an alternate future where Shockwave discovered the mysterious mineral known as Zel Quartz and went mad by its power, Octane was one of the few Decepticons who survived his destructive rampage. The triple changer was chosen to be a part of the Transformers who were to go back in time in order to find the Zel Quartz before Shockwave did.

After the Autobots had dealt with the Sharkticons, Octane drove up to them in tanker mode, transforming to robot mode when he was in front of them. Stating his need for power, Octane announced that he was going to destroy the Autobots and then take all the energy of the Karzite mine. He then rambled on about how he was going to be leader of the Decepticons once he took down Galvatron, and then told the Autobots that he was going to melt them down. Rodimus Prime warned the greedy Triple Changer that those with endless ambitions were bound to be destroyed by it, but his warnings fell of deaf audio receptors. In the end, Octane was soundly defeated and he announced his surrender. Transforming to jet plane mode, Octane flew off, announcing that he would not forget his defeat. Rodimus just called him a "thin-fueled coward". Later, Octane fought alongside Cyclonus against the Autobots in the Atalstan gem mine. Even with a fellow flier for backup, he still lost.

In the Decepticon side of the story, the shuttle that the Decepticons of the future had been using crash-landed. Octane had managed to find the main Depecticon force of the present once they had found a drill bit they suspected to be the Zel Quartz. Driving up to them in tanker mode while expressing surprise to the fact that they were still alive, Octane transformed to robot form, explaining that he thought he was done for. He expressed his relief that he managed to rendezvous with the Decepticons, stating that the bad side always did win. Galvatron told the triple changer that if Octane fought hard for him, it would be enough. Octane promised that he would and requested to join back with the Decepticons.

Despite whichever side won, Starscream eventually managed to steal the Zel Quartz and flew off into space with it. This caused the Quartz to become completely useless; and with the timeline altered, Octane and all the Decepticons from the future disappeared from the present time. The Transformers (PS2)

:Octane is a Triple Changer, with the ability to transform into two different vehicle modes. His ground vehicle mode is an extended truck cab with fuel-tanker trailer of undetermined model, with much of the detailing in this mode achieved through stickers rather than sculpting. His truck mode has rather strange proportions due to the robot arms sticking out of the sides and the generally broken-up look of the truck. He has three sets of rolling wheels: two purple sets and a set of grey wheels hidden under the middle of the truck. There is also a set of sculpted, non-rolling, unpainted wheels at the back of the truck

:His aerial mode is based on the two-engined Boeing 767 jet plane. Though the better of the two vehicle modes, it has some odd concessions that were made due to Octane being a Triple Changer, such as the grey set of wheels from the middle of the truck now sticking up from the top of Octane's fuselage.

:The tail fin of the jet form separates to become his "Deflecto Shield" for robot mode. The vacuum metallized tanker top piece can also be used as a shield.
* Although Blitzwing and Astrotrain are far more popular, Octane was the main Triple Changer created by Shockwave as discussed in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide.

* Octane is depicted as having white lower arms and fists in the USA 1986 catalog and chromed in some European 1986 catalogs. This was apparently changed very late in the process, as the chromed arms are pictured on Octane's box photography. The box art pictured above also shows the chromed arms.
*Octane's role in "Starscream's Ghost" was originally intended for Blitzwing, who would have been taking refuge with the Autobots after his actions in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5". What this says about Octane's role in "Thief in the Night" is not known.
* As shown on Hasbro's website, Universe Tankor/Octane's prototype was designed to have transparent plastic windows in his tanker truck mode, but for reasons unknown the windows were opaque plastic with paint applications on both the Universe and Henkei! Henkei! final production versions of the toy.
* In May 2010, a bogus picture of a photoshopped redeco of Universe Tankor/Octane as Clench was placed in BotCon.com's directory structure to throw off would-be scoop-hounds. The trick worked as one website reported it as being the real deal... until BotCon.com updated its own site with artwork of the actual 2010 version of Clench.
* Octane's on screen plane mode is a two-engine version of the Boeing 707.
