Several Autobots and Decepticons find themselves battling over a planet whose civilization completely revolves around music, and whose inhabitants are capable of using sound as a powerful weapon.

==Detailed synopsis==

[[Eurhythma]], a planet whose culture is based entirely on music, is threatened by a comet. [[Zebop Skandana]] joins fellow Eurythmans [[Allegra]] and [[Basso Profundo]] to use their combined harmonic weapon to destroy the comet, inadvertently shooting down a number of [[Autobot|Autobots]] and [[Decepticon]]s.

After [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] collapse a bridge on [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]], [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] and [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]], Zebop joins a number of other citizens to revive the Autobots. He then leads them to Allegra's retreat, where they find that Galvatron has beaten them there and swayed Allegra to their side. When Soundwave uses Allegra's third of the harmony against them, Zebop counters with his own third, which Soundwave then records and combines with Allegra's, plunging Zebop and the Autobots into a chasm. As the Autobots pull themselves up, Galvatron turns on Allegra, prompting Zebop to run onto the battlefield to save her. While he is successful, he is accidentally crushed by Blaster and Soundwave in the process, but is harmonically revived by a tearful Allegra soon after.

Returning to the capital city, the Autobots discover the fallen forms of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]], who Zebop, Allegra, and Basso heal. The three returned to [[Earth]] with the Autobots, where Galvatron and Soundwave were overwhelming [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] with the stolen harmony. The trio of aliens countered it with [[anti-sound]], giving Blaster enough time to erase the harmony from Soundwave's tapes (by manually pushing his crotch buttons). With the battle concluded, Zebop returns to his world with the others, vowing to live in harmony.

* "Carnage in C-Minor" is widely regarded by fans as the worst episode of all ''Transformers'' series, but this is seemingly due to the sheer volume of animation errors, and the glaringly obvious nature of many of the individual errors. However, the actual ''plot'' is certainly not the weakest to grace the cartoon series, and its "continuity errors" have little to nothing to do with the script itself... certainly not to the level of, say, "[[B.O.T.]]".

* That said, there is plenty of inanity to be found in the story too. For instance: Despite the aliens' dialog being in perfectly understandable English (or Galactic Standard or whatever), because they say everything a sing-song rhythm, apparently none of the Transformers except Blaster and Soundwave can understand them, and the two tape decks spend a large (and annoying) amount of time translating Eurythman to "non-sing-song" for everyone else.

* Apparently, a single blast from [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]'s [[lightning cannon]] can cause [[Devastator]] to disassemble. And [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] believes that intellectuals are weak.

[[Image:duelingbanjos.jpg|thumb|150px|Hey, does anyone else hear Dueling Banjos?]]As an armored car leaves a bank in the dead of night, the [[Angry Archer]] robs it and makes his escape from the cops on a fire engine, thinking the police won’t stop a firetruck heading to a fire. It’s the Archer’s mistake, however, because he's hitched a ride on the back of [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]]. Prime, playing hero, subdues the thief easily and smiles for evening news cameras.

Elsewhere, [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] observes a cat stalking a bird and finds it amazing, only to have his nature watch cut short by awestruck humans and camera-bots. He heads back huffily to the new Autobot headquarters, an abandoned car factory. The other Autobots are in the middle of installing the world’s largest flat-panel TV in their new home and sharing their views on their newfound stardom. Prowl returns upset with the constant interruptions and goes to his Japanese-decorated room. In his room, Prowl lectures Optimus on his fascination with the Earth's animals, only to have that cut short with [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]]'s antics. Annoyed again, Prowl leaps off into a tree.

She uses her All Spark key to open the door, but [[Isaac Sumdac|Professor Sumdac]] leaves with her before she can enter more than a step or two, reminding her no one but him is allowed in there. Residual energy from the key floats over and reactivates the head of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]. As his higher functions take control, the horrified Megatron discovers that he is without a body and is hardwired into some sort of primitive computer. As he searchs for answers, he brings up video footage of the last battle between the Autobots and [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]], including the latter’s confession of sabotaging his leader. Megatron is understandably ticked, and not just at Starscream's betrayal, but on the sheer helplessness of his situation: the Autobots and [[Decepticon]]s believe that he is dead, meaning there is no hope of rescue, but the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]] is within his grasp, and he lacks the hands to take it! While lamenting his lack of a body, he discovers his new power to control machines around him. Megatron decides that it's time to get...proactive

After trashing her [[Tutorbot]] using the All Spark key, Sari tells Prof. Sumdac she is leaving to the Autobot base for a slumber party. Overhearing this, Megatron sends one of Isaac's [[pocketbot]]s to hide in her backpack so he can search the base for the All Spark.

Bumblebee, of course, isn't interested and changes the channel on him. Annoyed yet again, Prowl pounces on Bumblebee like a cat to prove what he has learned from animals before leaping to a high point to meditate. Later, Bumblebee and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] play high-tech Twister™ with much difficulty; Bumblebee then challenges Prowl to try. Prowl jumps in and easily touches all the spots Sari announces. Having won the game, he leaves to his room.

Sari then tells ghost stories to the rest of the Autobots and, with a little help from her All Spark key, succeeds in scaring Bumblebee. Meanwhile, since the pocketbot's search for the All Spark has proven fruitless, Megatron decides to kill the Autobots and extract info on its location from their lifeless shells. He takes control of the assembly line robots and uses pincers, riveters, a big electromagnet and a die press to pummel the Autobots. Prowl shows up and realizes that the machines are detecting the Autobots by use of motion sensors. He instructs everyone to be still, then strike in order to get to the control panel. However, while the motion sensors can't see him, Megatron can, so he gets caught by the machines as well. With [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] injured, the only bot left free to move is Bumblebee, who manages to listen Prowl long enough to outrace the machines and destroy the control panel.

In a parting gesture, Megatron cuts open a fuel tank perilously close to a fire, but the Autobots team up and launch it into the sky, where it explodes harmlessly. As they wonder who tried to kill them, they discover the pocketbot under Megatron's control, but Bulkhead accidently smashes it after catching it before they can study it.

Back at the lab, Megatron has a fit over his loss and decides to reveal more Cybertronian technology to Sumdac in order to get a new body.

At the end, Prowl again coaches Bumblebee in the art of stillness while both play a game of high-tech Twister™.

* When the Angry Archer turns around to notice he's being followed by police cars, the bags of money he'd just tied to his waist are nowhere to be seen. They're back in other shots, though.

(After that shot, they seem to appear as normal.) At the end of the episode, the problem is reversed--there are no yellow spaces, but there are green ones.

'''Autroopers''' are a group of [[human]]-created artificial [[Transformers]] that serve the [[Earth Defense Command]]. 48 Autroopers are known to exist in the [[Tokyo]] Autrooper Team, divided into 12 squads, each named after one of the signs of the Chinese zodiac.

Autroopers are physically identical to one another apart from their squad markings. They are armed with rifles that fire [[Kremzeek]] bullets and can convert into the alternate mode of a police-style Mazda RX-8.

Each Autrooper is assigned a [[Kiss Player]] partner by the E.D.C. These young women serve a very important purpose. In times of crisis, a Kiss Player will [[kiss]] her Autrooper, activating a power that lets her merge with the much larger robot, bestowing upon it enhanced combat and regenerative abilities. If the merge's time limit expires, the Kiss Player is disgorged from her partner unconscious, naked and covered in viscous fluid. It is so far unknown what a voluntary separation entails.

Autroopers are often dispatched to the scene of Transformers-related incidents. This usually brings them into conflict with [[Legion]] attackers, but they also sometimes find themselves battling or pursuing anti-E.D.C. resistance fighters such as [[Optimus Prime (G1) |Optimus Prime]], [[Hot Rod |Hot Rodimus]], and their human partners.

Autroopers have an as-yet undisclosed connection to the same [[ParasiTech]] fusion process that Legion units use. One Autrooper partially fused with the corpse of Optimus Prime before [[Marissa Faireborn]] interceded. This fusion caused the resurrected Prime to suffer nightmares of his old enemy [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], suggesting a link between the Autroopers and the [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]-derived Legion army. This link would eventually bear fruit as the Autroopers went rogue and merged to reconstitute Galvatron's body.

Ne-04 is initially partnered with [[Shao-Shao Li]], acclaimed as the most powerful Kiss Player in the E.D.C. Shao is said to be able to enhance her Autrooper to levels far beyond those of her fellow squad members.

During an encounter with a hostile Legion, the Ne-04 Autrooper was badly damaged. With Shao unconscious and unable to re-merge, the Autrooper turned to the nearby [[Atari Hitotonari]] and demanded that she kiss him. The frightened girl complied and the two together were able to defeat their opponent. During the battle, the merged Atari took on a more violent and bloodthirsty personality.

When it was discovered that Atari was an even more powerful Kiss Player than Shao, Ne-04 was reassigned to her, and Shao left the E.D.C. to pursue resistance activities with her new partner, Hot Rod. Atari has noted that while the giant robot initially behaved in an intimidating manner toward her, she has since found it to have a warmer personality. The Ne-04 Autrooper's compassion for Atari extends to giving her backrubs when she becomes carsick riding in it, a frequent occurrence.

Atari's Autrooper appears to have a slightly mischievous personality, as when it was inexplicably shrunken to palm size following a kiss, it sneaked inside Atari's shirt while she was distracted thinking about desserts. Extremely passive on her best days, Atari exhaustedly capitulated to the tiny robot's advances.

But this would not be the Ne-04 Autrooper's only experience with shrinking...for soon, Atari would discover that she had a Legion inside her stomach! Instructing Atari to kiss it, the Autrooper shrunk to a diminuitive size, promptly forcing itself into Atari's mouth and making her swallow. As it plunged into her wet passage, it noted how warm it was inside her, while Atari pleaded for it not to move around inside her too roughly.

Yeeeeah.

The Autrooper engaged, defeated and destroyed the Legion, but lacked the power to climb back out. Unfortunately, when it ran out of power entirely, it would return to normal size inside the panicked Atari. Claiming that it would escape via [[Transwarp]], the Autrooper instead talked Atari into sticking her finger down her throat and vomiting it up. She proceeded to berate the robot for its trickery.

'''Ultra Magnus''' feels he is a soldier and nothing more. He very much prefers taking orders to giving them, and even avoids opportunities for higher responsibility. But when he is forced into those opportunities, he betrays his real talent for the job. He's strong, resolute, dependable, selfless, and courageous. Sadly, Ultra Magnus is the only Autobot who doesn't realize this.

Believing he is nothing but a soldier, Ultra Magnus is perfectly willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good if need be. He knows he's more powerful than the average Autobot, and will throw himself at larger threats accordingly. There is a special enmity between him and [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] for this reason, for Galvatron may be the most deadly foe of all. (Also, Galvatron, given his mental state, probably doesn't approve of people he's had blown up getting back up afterward. This can be seen as a sore point for Magnus, too.)

Serving as commander of [[Autobot City]], Ultra Magnus directed the Autobots’ counterattack when the city came under attack from [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and the [[Decepticon]]s in the year 2005. After directing [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] to transform the city into battle station mode, he and [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] alerted the rest of the city’s occupants to the attack, but they were only able to hold the Decepticons off for so long. During the battle, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was mortally wounded, and, on his deathbed, passed the [[Matrix of Leadership]] on to Ultra Magnus. Despite his own misgivings, Magnus took possession of Matrix and became the new leader of the Autobots.

Magnus’s leadership did not get off to an easy start, when reports came in from the Autobots stationed of Cybertron’s moons of [[Unicron]], a monster planet that was in the process of consuming them. Magnus quickly arranged for the Autobots to head to Cybertron aboard two shuttles, but as they were preparing to depart, they were attacked by Decepticon forces led by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the upgraded form of Megatron. The Autobots fled into space and were pursued by Galvatron’s troops, with Magnus’s shuttle eventually being shot down onto the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]]. Facing Galvatron solo, Magnus attempted to open the Matrix, but the talisman did not respond, and Magnus was blown to pieces by the [[Sweep]]s. Thankfully, Ultra Magnus was soon repaired by the native [[Junkion]]s after they befriended the Autobots befriended. Magnus joined the other Autobots in the battle with Unicron on Cybertron and helped drive the last of the Decepticons from their home planet. In the course of the final battle with Unicron, the young Autobot [[Hot Rod]] opened the Matrix to destroy the planet-eater, becoming Rodimus Prime. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}} Rodimus subsequently took over as [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]] from Magnus, and Magnus returned to his much more comfortable role of soldier, operating as Rodimus’s [[second-in-command]], regularly giving advice to the inexperienced new leader and trying to draw him out from under the shadow of Optimus Prime.

When the [[Quintesson]]s attacked the first [[Galactic Olympics]], Ultra Magnus, [[Kup]] and [[Spike Witwicky]] were kidnapped and taken to [[Quintessa]], where they were found guilty in one of the Quintessons’ twisted trials. Dropped into the [[Sharkticon]] pit, they were quickly rescued by their fellow Autobots, but the whole team was then set adrift in space when the Quintessons blew up their planet in an attempt to destroy the Autobots. They eventually made it back to Cybertron, only for their homeworld itself to come under attack by a united Quintesson-Decepticon alliance. Ultra Magnus held off the attackers long enough for Rodimus and the others to make it to cover, dispatching [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] and [[Dirge]] before being faced with Galvatron, who took a few shots at him before decided he had more important things to deal with. When the Quintessons betrayed Galvatron in order to achieve the true goals, he turned on the aliens, and the invasion of Cybertron was repelled. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness}}

In the year 2006, Ultra Magnus, [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Wreck-Gar]] and [[Marissa Faireborn]] were abducted by a Quintesson scientist, who intended to perform behavioural studies on them. When the scientist’s ship flew through a [[black hole]] into a negative universe, the captives were forced to team up to escape. Magnus and Cyclonus acknowledged their mutual, grudging respect for each other as warriors, but vowed that when they met again, it would be as enemies. {{storylink|The Killing Jar}} This proved true when Magnus had to save [[Wheelie]] and [[Daniel Witwicky]] from Cyclonus’s clutches after the two youths travelled the Autobot Records Asteroid in an attempt to discover the date of Magnus’s creation in order to throw him a birthday party. {{storylink|Surprise Party}}

Further adventures for Magnus in 2006 included planting the bomb that destroyed the planet [[Paradron]] {{storylink|Fight or Flee}}; a brief trip to the sorcerous other-dimensional realm of [[Menonia]] {{storylink|Madman's Paradise}}; another clash with Galvatron, who, at the height of his madness, was especially dedicated to Magnus’s destruction {{storylink|Webworld}}; and briefly experiencing life as a human when his mind was transferred into a [[synthoid]] body. {{storylink|Only Human}}

When the [[Hate Plague]] swept the universe, Ultra Magnus was one of the first infected, and was transformed into a raving maniac with a fixation on exterminating Rodimus Prime. In 2007, Ultra Magnus helped defend Autobot City from a massive Decepticon assault, which was actually a diversion for the theft of the key to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. Subsequently, Magnus accompanied Optimus Prime on a shuttle to Cybertron. After Prime got the answers he needed from [[Vector Sigma]], he decided to go to [[Nebulos]] and left Ultra Magnus in charge of Cybertron. {{Storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}} Magnus's tenure didn't go very well, as the selfsame massive Decepticon assault force was attacking the planet. Nonetheless, he and the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobot]]s struck at Galvatron, and may well have done him in if [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]'s reinforcements hadn't arrived. Magnus then ignominiously had his [[power pack]] torn out and slowly began to die from lack of energon. Still, he was able to relay Galvatron's crazed scheme to Optimus Prime and the Autobot [[Headmaster]]s before blacking out.

Unwilling to burden the already-occupied Autobot commander [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] with this news, Ultra Magnus co-ordinated the response on his own, but soon came under direct attack from Sixshot himself. Struggling against the six-changer, he was convinced by the [[Trainbot]]s to inform Fortress, but before any reinforcements could arrive, Sixshot used his secret seventh “Wingwolf” mode to deliver the killing blow to Ultra Magnus, ending the City Commander’s life.

After the Decepticons were routed, Metroplex requested that, rather than be fired into space, Magnus’s body be buried on the Earth he had loved so much. Ultra Magnus immediately set out to counter Galvatron II’s invasion and started raising forces of his own. On at least one occasion Ultra Magnus was so thoroughly trounced by Galvatron and his endless puns that he required saving by Optimus Prime in his new [[Black Body]].

In this new form Ultra Magnus is able to switch between various body types (including his original) at will, similar to Optimus Prime, thanks to his contact with the Reconfiguration Matrix. In addition, he is able to tap into his [[Laser Core]] to power his blaster and sword.

Ultra Magnus came from Cybertron to take over leadership of the Autobots after Optimus Prime disappeared. He is opposed by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] as Decpticon leader and this is presented as a prolonged status quo rather than the rather brief version of this scenario presented in the animated continuity. Furthermore [[Spike Witwicky]] appears to still be a teenager at this point, making a setting date of 2005 unlikely.

The remaining Autobot elders spent years designing Ultra Magnus, a leader to lift the resistance out of a deep darkness. He was finally given life in or shortly before 1986<ref>Ultra Magnus profile in Marvel UK #83</ref> for [[Operation:Volcano]]. His role was to act as the crucial back-up needed for the [[Wreckers]] to successfully destroy their Decepticon targets and then escape in one piece. A serious complication arose when the Matrix Flame, the sacred and eternal blaze linked directly to the [[Matrix of Leadership|Creation Matrix]] itself, suddenly extinguished. Fearing that something catastrophic had occurred on Earth to the Matrix and its bearer, Optimus Prime, Emirate Xaaron made the decision to send Ultra Magnus to that planet to investigate, even though Operation Volcano was unstoppably set to begin in ten cycles. Magnus traveled to Earth by way of [[Space Bridge]], and found the Ark's crew engaged in a deadly conflict with three new, yet unspeakably powerful, Decepticon warriors just as their leaders Optimus Prime, [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] vanished before their optic sensors. Initially concerned only with his investigation of Prime's sudden disappearance, Ultra Magnus ignored the plight of his fellow Autobots until he learned the two situations were linked; [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and his lieutenants were time-travelers from 2006, having employed a mass-substitution mechanism that sent the three Autobots into limbo in order to accommodate their presence at this point in the timeline. This connection was revealed to him by three Autobots from 2006, who had traveled back in time themselves in order to stop Galvatron. They had a plan; they had the means; all they needed was for Ultra Magnus to keep him busy for, oh...an hour or two.

Easier said than done.

Magnus's battle with Galvatron carried them out of the isolated wilderness and onto a human freeway system. It ended when Ultra Magnus threw a tanker truck full of fuel into the path of Galvatron's particle cannon. Galvatron walked away from the blast -- Magnus didn't. Still, the future Autobots succeeded in tricking Galvatron into returning to the future with his plan incomplete, and the timeline more-or-less preserved. Unfortunately, Magnus was out of time: Operation Volcano proceeded without him, with disastrous results. Only one Decepticon was taken out, and the Wreckers' leader Impactor was killed protecting Xaaron. {{Storylink|Target 2006}}

Ultra Magnus would not meet his counterpart, Optimus Prime, until Prime was inadvertently transported back to Cybertron in battle with Megatron. Hooking up with [[Straxus|Lord Straxus]] at [[Polyhex]], [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] quickly disseminated false information about a new Decepticon made over to look exactly like Optimus Prime, planning to infiltrate the Autobot forces. Having temporarily assumed control of the Wreckers until their new leader, [[Springer]], was ready for command, Ultra Magnus led them in hunting down the "impostor". This Prime's behavior led Magnus to be suspicious of his information and, after summoning Emirate Xaaron, confirmed his suspicions and welcomed the true Optimus Prime back to Cybertron. Prime wasted no time leading Magnus and the others on a series of successful raids and strike missions against Decepticon-controlled territory. When Optimus decided to return home to Earth, however, Ultra Magnus was caught up in the space bridge's energy discharge as well, arriving on Earth but some considerable distance away from where Prime materialized. Having been frustrated ever since Impactor's death, Magnus welcomed the "vacation" this trip to Earth would provide him, as he took his time trying to track down the Ark's location.

For months, Ultra Magnus enjoyed a peaceful life in the American forests and wilderness, alone with his thoughts. A sudden seismic disturbance brought him back to reality, though, and into contact with three human females whose vehicle had been overturned by the tremor. One in particular, Cindy, took quite a liking to Magnus. As they traveled together to explore a nearby volcano and its connection to the tremors, Magnus was forced back into combat thanks to the arrival of his old sparring partner, the future Decepticon known as Galvatron. Galvatron had constructed a magma siphon atop the volcano's peak, and planned to convert the raw power of a volcanic eruption into enough energy to transform him into a god. Ultra Magnus teamed up with several Autobots from the future, who were trying to bring Galvatron back with them to face justice. Once again, Magnus was used as a "distraction" (read: living punching bag) while the future Autobots set up their plan to override Galvatron's time-jump mechanism and send them all back where they came from. Despite Ultra Magnus successfully getting the slag beat out of him, the override proved unsuccessful, sending only the Autobots back to 2007 and leaving Magnus virtually alone to deal with the fighting-mad Galvatron. Barely managing to rally his courage, Ultra Magnus threw himself into combat with Galvatron one more time, keeping him busy until the volcano exploded, destroying the power siphon and encasing both warriors in molten lava.

Several months later, Ultra Magnus was dug out of the volcano by the [[Sparkabot|Sparkler Mini-Bots]]. They had been sent to Earth by Springer to monitor the volcano in case Galvatron ever got free. When Galvatron DID free himself several days earlier, though, they found themselves hopelessly outmatched, and hoped Magnus would have better luck. Sadly, the severe beatings Galvatron had routinely handed out to Ultra Magnus, combined with the final excruciating submergence in molten lava, had nearly unhinged the Autobot's mind, leaving him with a pathological fear of his tormentor. Confronted with Galvatron, Magnus would probably have gone fetal if that pose had any meaning for his people. As the Sparklers heroically tried to stand up to Galvatron anyway, Ultra Magnus saw his rescuers in grave danger and finally managed to push his fear aside and reclaim enough confidence to batter the Decepticon into a temporary retreat. {{Storylink|Salvage!}}

Having renewed his fighting spirit, Ultra Magnus arranged to return to Cybertron with his companions in order to report on Galvatron's activities and hopefully gather the Wreckers for a counter-offensive. Instead, they found the Autobot base in Kalis full of battle signs, and the entire surrounding city-state a virtual "ghost-town". After confronting a legion of robot zombies, the Autobots eventually learned that a crazed scientist named [[Flame (UK comic)|Flame]] was trying to re-engineer the entire planet as a giant spacecraft, setting off an unstable fusion reactor beneath the planet's surface as a power source. With the help of the Wreckers and the Decepticons [[Flywheels]] and [[Trypticon]], Ultra Magnus and his team managed to put an end to Flame's maniacal scheme.

Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers then began preparations to return to Earth and confront the threat of Galvatron, finally, once and for all, and then...*poof*. The Wreckers went to Earth alone, and Ultra Magnus was never seen nor heard from again.

That's when Magnus' body hurled his head at Galvatron like a bowling ball, causing the [[Emperor of Destruction]] to fall over like a set of pins and drop the Blackball. That's ''using your head'', Magnus! *sigh*

However he was eventually able to overcome his own fear and take a role of leadership. Together with [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], he was on the verge of ending the war when Megatron arrived and enslaved the plane with the [[Aerospace Extermination Squadron]]. After [[Great Shutdown]], [[Ultra Magnus]] was reactivated and took the role of security officer under [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave's]] rule, even if he was dissatisfied working under a leader who clearly held his own agenda. Standing with him were [[Elita One]], [[Alpha Trion]], and a pre-Matrix version of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] (who looks identical to Magnus other than being red and blue). {{storylink|Megatron Origin, Part 3}}

Countless years later, in the present day, although still a soldier, Magnus was an agent of the [[Tyrest Accord]]. Although never detailed, this Accord seems to be part of a greater [[Code of Interplanetary Conflict]], some form of treaty between Autobots, Decepticons and other alien races. As an enforcer of the Accord, Magnus hunts down any Transformers, Autobots or Decepticons alike, who illegally sell or distribute Cybertronian technology, handing them over to their superiors for prosecution.

One such violation saw Magnus pursue [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] to the planet [[Zull]]. After arresting the Combaticon, Magnus reluctantly released Swindle in exchange for the current whereabouts of an even greater offender: [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]. Magnus had a personal grudge against Scorponok, who was the Autobot's polar opposite; while Magnus sets great stock in rules, Scorponok flouts them. Magnus followed Swindle's lead to the planet [[Nebulos]], but although he disrupted Scorponok's operations, the Decepticon was able to escape.

Later on, Magnus arrested Swindle for yet another violation, and once again, Swindle offered a deal, leaving Magnus to wonder whether it's necessary to break the rules to catch those who've been caught breaking them... {{storylink|Spotlight: Ultra Magnus}}

He was packaged in the reissue Laser Optimus Prime's box, along with Prime's instructions, bio card and sticker sheet. Yes, the stickers that have "Optimus Prime" written on them.

:In robot mode the bottom of the truck became his familiar windowed chest based upon the original Optimus Prime toy (and the original Ultra Magnus's cab). His main gimmick was light up LED headlights, and a [[lightpipe]] in the bottom of his right fist, illuminated by an LED in his right forearm, that would illuminate his clear sword or his double-barreled rifle if they were used in that hand. All three LEDs were activated simultaneously by pressing the sunroof-like depression on the roof of the truck.

:The trailer unfolds to form a battle station bristling with many firing weapons. Primarily, it can fire an air-powered missile launcher, a ripple rocket launcher with 5 missiles that can be launched individually (this turret can also be mounted in Laser Magnus' hand) and a 'disc launcher', that fired several white plastic discs. This disc launcher is the only weapon that can be used in vehicle mode.

Astrotrain arrived on [[Earth]] during the second year of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s campaign to conquer the planet and its energy resources. His activities prior to that point remain unclear.

He once transported Megatron to the [[Moon]] where he and the Decepticons' leader attempted to jam Earth's radio waves. The attempt was interrupted by the arrival of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]], [[Spike Witwicky|two]] [[Carly|humans]] and [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. Astrotrain engaged in a bad pun, accused Omega Supreme of being too outdated to catch him, and then was the victim of a Cybertronian's impression of a sandworm (see image) before being thrown a few planetary diameters. {{Storylink|Blaster Blues}}

Typically one of the more easy-going among the Decepticons, even Astrotrain isn't above letting a little power go to his head. While tracking [[Cosmos]], he shot down the Autobot, who had been on a fuel scouting mission, and managed to trick the people of [[Titan]] into believing that he was one of their Sky Gods, so that they would mine energy crystals for him and the Decepticons. Astrotrain used [[Jero]], a corrupt High Priest who was as fanatical as he was ruthless, to further his ends. However, the Autobots [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] arrived aboard Omega Supreme looking for Cosmos. Omega Supreme was virtually out of fuel after the trip, but the Autobots soon managed to refuel him using the energy crystals. Knowing that he, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] alone couldn't beat Omega Supreme, Astrotrain destroyed the crystals in a fit of pique before flying off, leaving Jero to die like the worm he was. Harsh, Astrotrain, harsh. {{storylink|The God Gambit}}

With the help of [[Blitzwing]], Astrotrain froze [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] in a sewer system in order to take over the Decepticons. He then created an army of trains to help him rule, thinking it was a good idea. Although he managed to amass a surprisingly large amount of [[Energon cube]]s, the productive day ended with him flooding the entire city after bursting a water main. Worse, Megatron thawed out. The embarrassment of these incidents forced Astrotrain to creep back into the Decepticon ranks quietly... at [[fusion cannon]] point. {{Storylink|Triple Takeover}}

Astrotrain transported Megatron, Starscream and [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] to the lost Autobot colony of [[Antilla]], where they discovered the entire civilization had been wiped out by the deadly [[Cosmic Rust]]. Not heeding a holographic warning from the Autobots, Megatron ventured further into the colony and seized an advanced heat ray weapon from its storage chamber. As they left Antilla, a [[Cosmic Rust]] spore-filled asteroid appeared to chase after Astrotrain, prompting Megatron to test out of the power of the 'lightning bug' weapon on the space rock. The blast obliterated the asteroid, but the shrapnel from the explosion pierced Astrotrain's hull and punctured Megatron's chest plate, infecting him with Cosmic Rust. He also transported the Decepticons away after getting their aft-sections [[Battle of Autobot City|handed to them]] at [[Autobot City]]. He couldn't make it back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] with the amount of weight on board, so they tossed [[Megatron (G1)|some]] [[Insecticon (G1)|dead]] [[Thundercracker (G1)|weight]] overboard. After that, Astrotrain served as the ring for the subsequent fight among the Decepticons to replaced the ejected Megatron, where the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]]s formed Devastator inside him (slag, Astrotrain is big!) and Rumble and [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]] used their piledrivers (slag, Astrotrain is sturdy!) Apparently, they all made it back fine. Astrotrain was then the one to crown Starscream during his coronation as the new Decepticon leader. {{Storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}} For some reason, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the reformatted version of Megatron, decided not to off Astrotrain as well.

Astrotrain and his fellow Triple Changers were commissioned by [[Ratbat]] to investigate the loss of his [[Wash and Roll|priceless cargo]] that had arrived on Earth via a low-cost freighter, but hadn't checked in as scheduled. Upon making contact with the crashed ship, Astrotrain and his companions were infected with [[Scraplet]]s, and began to slowly waste away. Lucky for them, the Autobot [[Blaster]] was also infected, and his friends managed to re-discover the [[water|strange and wondrous chemical]] that acted as a cure. When Megatron needed a major distraction to infiltrate the subsectors of Iacon and establish Cybertron as a living war world, he sent Shockwave to command a full frontal assault against the Autobot capital. Astrotrain was among the many Decepticons who aided Shockwave in this siege. {{Storylink|The War Within}} Later on, after Megatron's disappearance led to a factioning of the Decepticon army, Astrotrain began serving with Starscream's [[Predacon (War Within)|Predacon]]s. {{Storylink|The War Within: The Dark Ages}} The Predacons remained the only major hold out among the factions when [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] negotiated a great peace between the Autobots and Decepticons due to low energon reserves planet-wide. Astrotrain arrived on [[Earth]] during the second year of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s campaign to conquer the planet and its energy resources. His activities prior to that point remain unclear.

He once transported Megatron to the [[Moon]] where he and the Decepticons' leader attempted to jam Earth's radio waves. The attempt was interrupted by the arrival of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]], [[Spike Witwicky|two]] [[Carly|humans]] and [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. Astrotrain engaged in a bad pun, accused Omega Supreme of being too outdated to catch him, and then was the victim of a Cybertronian's impression of a sandworm (see image) before being thrown a few planetary diameters. {{Storylink|Blaster Blues}}

Typically one of the more easy-going among the Decepticons, even Astrotrain isn't above letting a little power go to his head. While tracking [[Cosmos]], he shot down the Autobot, who had been on a fuel scouting mission, and managed to trick the people of [[Titan]] into believing that he was one of their Sky Gods, so that they would mine energy crystals for him and the Decepticons. Astrotrain used [[Jero]], a corrupt High Priest who was as fanatical as he was ruthless, to further his ends. However, the Autobots [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] arrived aboard Omega Supreme looking for Cosmos. Omega Supreme was virtually out of fuel after the trip, but the Autobots soon managed to refuel him using the energy crystals. Knowing that he, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] alone couldn't beat Omega Supreme, Astrotrain destroyed the crystals in a fit of pique before flying off, leaving Jero to die like the worm he was. With the help of [[Blitzwing]], Astrotrain froze [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] in a sewer system in order to take over the Decepticons. He then created an army of trains to help him rule, thinking it was a good idea. Although he managed to amass a surprisingly large amount of [[Energon cube]]s, the productive day ended with him flooding the entire city after bursting a water main. Worse, Megatron thawed out. The embarrassment of these incidents forced Astrotrain to creep back into the Decepticon ranks quietly... at [[fusion cannon]] point. {{Storylink|Triple Takeover}}

Astrotrain transported Megatron, Starscream and [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] to the lost Autobot colony of [[Antilla]], where they discovered the entire civilization had been wiped out by the deadly [[Cosmic Rust]]. Not heeding a holographic warning from the Autobots, Megatron ventured further into the colony and seized an advanced heat ray weapon from its storage chamber. As they left Antilla, a [[Cosmic Rust]] spore-filled asteroid appeared to chase after Astrotrain, prompting Megatron to test out of the power of the 'lightning bug' weapon on the space rock. The blast obliterated the asteroid, but the shrapnel from the explosion pierced Astrotrain's hull and punctured Megatron's chest plate, infecting him with Cosmic Rust. He also transported the Decepticons away after getting their aft-sections [[Battle of Autobot City|handed to them]] at [[Autobot City]]. He couldn't make it back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] with the amount of weight on board, so they tossed [[Megatron (G1)|some]] [[Insecticon (G1)|dead]] [[Thundercracker (G1)|weight]] overboard. After that, Astrotrain served as the ring for the subsequent fight among the Decepticons to replaced the ejected Megatron, where the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]]s formed Devastator inside him (slag, Astrotrain is big!) and Rumble and [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]] used their piledrivers (slag, Astrotrain is sturdy!) Apparently, they all made it back fine. When Megatron needed a major distraction to infiltrate the subsectors of Iacon and establish Cybertron as a living war world, he sent Shockwave to command a full frontal assault against the Autobot capital. Frenzy arrived in Tranquility to meet up with [[Barricade]] possessing information that Starscream said was vital. When Barricade attempted to link up with him, he discovered that Frenzy had been captured by [[Sector Seven|some armed humans]]. Frenzy was held captive in a small SUV (which seemed virtually indestructible) but Barricade eventually rescued him. Barricade later relayed to Starscream that Frenzy had discovered a lead on the All Spark and Megatron...an artifact in the possession of a human named Sam.

Megatron nearly steps on him (most likely from getting tired of that creepy little bastard) but scurries away. A skittering little spaz, Frenzy smuggled himself aboard [[Air Force One]] disguised as a CD player boom-box. He made his way to the lower decks, carried by an [[Air Force One attendant|unsuspecting flight attendant]] who was on a vital mission to the storage area to "rustle up some Ding-Dongs" for the [[President of the United States#Transformers (2007)|President]]. Once left alone, he got into the server area and began to work his magic, simultaneously hacking the national database and uploading a virus, re-attempting the hack that [[Blackout (Movie)|Blackout]] had tried at the [[SOCCENT Base]] in [[Qatar]] earlier. This attempt was discovered by government agent [[Maggie Madsen]], and the defense network was shut down in order to halt the hack. Frenzy was so pissed he slammed his head into the screen, but he'd managed to finish uploading the virus, which would later shut down global communications, and got a little bit of info on what he was looking for.

He was discovered by Secret Service agents, whom he quickly dispatched with his machine guns and disc-blade launcher before hiding away in boom-box form again. When Air Force One landed, he escaped through the landing gear, slipping into the awaiting Decepticon [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]]. (Real good job keeping an eye out, Secret Service.) After [[:Image:Frenzy movie bird.JPG|flipping the military the bird]] and bitching about how the "stupid insects" shot at him, he informed Barricade of his new discovery: [[Archibald Witwicky|the Witwicky man]] who had suspiciously displayed knowledge of Cybetronian writing. After a quick web search using Barricade's on-board police department laptop, Frenzy determined their next target...a human called "[[Sam Witwicky|LadiesMan217]]" who was in possession of the Witwicky man's glasses, which in turn could lead them to the <strike>Precious</strike> [[All Spark]].

When Barricade was forced to go to robot mode in order to handle [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], he released Frenzy to chase the humans the [[Autobot]] was guarding. Frenzy tackled his primary target and even managed to get his pants off (Kinky!), but [[Mikaela Banes|the female human]] attacked him with a power saw she'd found and cut off his head. To add insult to injury, ladiesman217 punted the Decepticon's head away. It was actually to Frenzy's benefit, however, as he landed not too far from the female's purse, which had spilled when Bumblebee had dumped them out earlier. Still alive and ambulatory despite losing most of his body mass, he speared and scanned the female's cell phone, changed his form to match it, and hid out in her purse.

Frenzy stayed hidden, watching the activities of the humans, including their meeting with [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Autobot]]s. Taken to ladiesman217's house, Frenzy poked his head out to better observe, but was frightened by some [[wikipedia:Goldfish|aquatic lifeforms]] ladiesman217 had. Frenzy poked one of his optics out when the glasses were discovered, but remained hidden during the subsequent encounter with [[Sector Seven]]. Arriving at [[Hoover Dam]], Frenzy slipped away...and fell off the side of the dam, landing painfully at the bottom. This allowed him to sneak into the secret Sector Seven operations hangar deep within the dam, where both the All Spark and [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] had been kept for nearly a hundred years. Tapping into the All Spark's power, he restored his body, then sent a message to [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], telling him that their prizes were here. As Starscream mobilized all the Decepticons on [[Earth]], Frenzy set about the task of releasing his master. He went and killed a few technicians, letting him screw with the cryo-stasis machines that kept Megatron entombed, while Starscream destroyed the power lines outside, allowing the Decepticon leader to escape.

As Megatron and Starscream went to assist the rest of the Decepticons in securing the All Spark, Frenzy remained at the dam to tie up any loose ends. When [[Reggie Simmons|Agent Simmons]], [[John Keller|Secretary Keller]], Maggie and [[Glen Whitmann]] ran to an ancient storage room to try and get a Morse Code message to the Air Force via shortwave radio, Frenzy followed. While Glen jury-rigged outdated machinery to send the messages, Simmons and Keller tried to shoot the diminutive Decepticon. Frenzy made it into the room via the air ducts and sent a series of flying blades at the humans. One, however, ricocheted madly across the room, and took out most of Frenzy's head. With a muttered "oh shit," Frenzy collapsed.

When the [[Transformers (2007)|live-action Transformers film]] was pushed back from November 2006 to July 2007, [[Hasbro]] needed to create a filler line to bridge the newly created gap in their product offerings. Some distance from [[Mount St. Hilary]], Blackarachnia is setting up some equipment that will convert her into a [[Transmetal 2]]. However, [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] detects Blackarachnia's [[energy signature]], and, not understanding, pulls her from the machine. As Blackarachnia berates Silverbolt, she short ciruits. Heading to the [[Maximal]] base, Rhinox concludes that the [[shell program]] is starting to degrade, and will erase her [[core conciousness]] if not treated soon. He can remove the shell, but it's never been done before. Wandering off the think, Blackarachnia is followed by Silverbolt. She maintains that she's still a [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]], and that becoming a Maximal scares her. Silverbolt points out that she's only a Predacon due to [[Tarantulas]], and deep down, she is one of the good guys. The touching moment is ruined when Blackarachnia short circuits again.

In the lab, Blackarachnia has decided to go through with the procedure. Before she does, there is one last thing to do: transfer the access codes to the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' to [[Optimus Primal]], thinking that he'd have the best chance to keep them from [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]. They begin the shell removal, but it has safe guards that will destroy Blackarachnia's core conciousness. Rhinox is able to destroy the first one. At his [[Tarantulas's lair|lair]], Tarantulas discovers the removal process. He contacts Megatron, and both conclude that she transferred [[Teletraan I|Teletraan 1]]'s codes to Primal. Tarantulas informs Megatron of his safeguards, but the Predacon leader decides to cause a little more trouble. [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]], [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]], and [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] are sent under Tarantulas to attack the Maximals. Optimus leads [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] and [[Rattrap]] in the defense of the base. Rhinox is almost finished, but two more power surges head for her core conciousness. Rhinox blasts one, but Tarantulas fires a rocket which causes Rhinox to miss the other surge, which hits Blackarachnia's core conciousness and extinguishes her [[spark]]. Rhinox leaves to inform Optimus and allow Silverbolt to be alone. Upon leaving, Silverbolt snarls out "Tarantulas..."

Detecting that his creation is dead, Tarantulas orders the Predacons to break off, as Rhinox tells the others. Gathering around Blackarachnia, they express their regrets over not giving her their full trust, if only for Silverbolt's sake. As Rattrap notices that the Fuzor is absent, Primal realizes what he's planning to do, and the Maximals head to stop him. Unseen, the Transmetal Driver begins to glow. Tracking down Tarantulas, Silverbolt easily defeats him, but Rampage defeats Silverbolt. Preparing to strike the killing blow, Rampage is stopped—by Blackarachnia, now a Transmetal 2. Blackarachnia quickly defeats Rampage, and takes Silverbolt back to base. She explains to the Maximals that she saw only darkness, then a light, and thought Silverbolt was in danger. Primal points out that her actions weren't very Maximal, but Silverbolt express their gratitude at her return. Blackarachnia warns Silverbolt to stop rushing after her, but to show no hard feelings, [[kiss]]es him...sending a power surge through him and disorienting him.

The main line figures feature an above-average design complexity, with figures such as Deluxe Bumblebee packing an amazing number of moving parts into a small package. Transformations are fairly complex, and tend to capture the movie's visual spectacle of a vehicle flying apart into a thousand pieces as the robots transform. The primary gimmick of the main line is "[[Automorph|automorphing]]", wherein moving one piece of a toy will in turn move other pieces into their designated positions via hidden gears, furthering the parallel with the movie's visuals.

When the Decepticons unleashed [[Cosmic Rust]] on Earth, Smokescreen was one of the many Autobots infested with the virus. As [[Earth Defense Command]] created the [[Binaltech]] Project in order to help the Autobots, Smokescreen was one of the first patients to undergo transference into an [[electro-cell]] powered new body. With the help of his fellow Binaltech Autobots, Smokescreen and his new power helped drive the Decepticons off the planet. He remained part of the soldiers based at Autobot City on Earth.

Smokescreen and Inferno were under [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock's]] leadership in the [[Lightning Strike Coalition]] during the Dark Ages. After the [[Great Shutdown]], Smokescreen returned to civilian life while the Unified Cybertronian government rose up around him. Initially complacement with shared rule with the Decepticons, Smokescreen's optics were opened thanks to the revolutionary actions of the young Autobot [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and his followers. Smokescreen gathered a resistance unit of his own with [[Tracks]], [[Devcon]], and several [[Mini Vehicle|Minibots]]. Thanks to his Autobot connections in the [[Triple Changer|Triple-Changer Strike Force]], Smokescreen managed to get Prowl and the rest of the Ark's crew released from custody to join up with his cell. This soon led to a successful insurrection, clearing out [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] and his corrupt influence, leaving Cybertron under peaceful Autobot control.
