Apparently, bounty hunters were big in the '80s.

Synopsis
At a county fair, a bounty hunter named Burn-Out interrupts the Z Foundation's carnie "Reck the Robot" shoot-'em booth by shotgun blasting the robo-prop. The barker tells him about a chance for real prizes...

At a monster truck rally, Randy "Roadhog" Horton indulges his passion for demolition derbies by destroying the Robo-Car provided for the Z Foundation Challenge. The announcer tells him how he could do the real thing, for real money...

At a sleazy motel, two bounty hunters named Skunge and Felix employ high technology gimmicks and their own deceptively small size to capture criminals-at-large. At the local police station, an officer mentions the Z Foundation's robot-hunting bounty...

And so, in New York City, the four mercenaries gather at the Z Foundation's national offices. They are met by Mr. K and his associates, Mr. B and Mr. L. They explain that the chairman, Mr. Z, founded their foundation in order to eliminate the threat of all Transformers to the people of Earth. They offer the men $50,000 for each Transformer they bring in, and the use of patent-pending "jammers", designed under the theory that they can neutralize a Transformer's conversion power. So armed, the bounty hunters are christened the Roadjammers, and sent out to hunt their prey.

Meanwhile, there are nothing but robots on Cybertron. Six Autobots have been captured by the Decepticons, and await their fates in a detention facility. The Firecons arrive and escort out three Autobots—Fizzle, Sizzle, and Backstreet—to a waiting space bridge center. For their own suspicious purposes, the Decepticons fully re-energize and rearm the Autobots, sending them across the trans-dimensional gateway to planet Earth... right near New York City.

Catching the Autobots by surprise, the Roadjammers make quick work of Sizzle and the others. Still, some of what the Autobots said before they were jammered makes them curious—if the Autobots did just arrive on Earth like they claimed, how did the Z Foundation know where to send the Roadjammers to patrol? It crosses their minds that maybe Mr. K and the alphabet flunkies are running some kind of scam on the side with the 'Cons, so they come up with a plan to catch the businessmen with their possible Decepticon partners, and turn them all over to Mr. Z for an even bigger reward.

Back at the Z Foundation, Felix jimmies their way into a locked parking structure, and sure enough, they find three Decepticon Headmaster languishing in the corner. Mr. K and the others arrive and make no attempt to hide their partnership—they reveal their hidden binary bonding armors and join with their Decepticon partners in robot mode. Only then do they realize they're paralyzed by the jammers, since Felix made the necessary adjustments to double the power of the three jammers they were given.

At that moment, Mr. Z himself enters the structure, and unveils his true identity as Lord Zarak, leader of the Decepticons. He summons Scorponok to retrieve the jammer technology from the Roadjammers, but Felix has arranged to manipulate the jammer signals by his dashboard computer system, letting him turn all six Cybertronians against Scorponok by remote control.

Temporarily overwhelmed, Zarak feels forced to activate his prototype anti-jammer, which unfortunately will free the Autobots from the Roadjammers' control, as well as his fellow Decepticons. As the jammering effect fades, the Autobots recover quickly and get the Roadjammers to safety before the Decepticons can turn on them. As the Autobots drive away, Felix tells his team that he's confident the jammer technology can be reverse-engineered, and that they'll all soon be back in business...

Notes
* The Z Foundation attempts to promote the idea among the people of Earth that all Transformers are dangerous and should be destroyed. This is reminiscent of Megatron's use of Robot-Master. The humans already distrust the Decepticons so they try to get them to distrust the Autobots as well.
* Zarak orders the three Autobots released only to turn around and hire the Roadjammers to hunt them down. This is apparently a test of something. Possibly the jammers, or, even though it is not stated, they might be testing to see if their plan of recruiting humans through the Z Foundation to hunt Autobots is effective.
* This is the first US appearance for nearly the entire cast: Fangry, Horri-Bull, Squeezeplay, the Triggerbots, Firecons, and Sparkabots.
* This is the first and only time José Delbo was to draw the space bridge. It was, in fact, the last appearance of the space bridge in the Marvel comics, though it does get one final mention in issue #56.
* The dastardly Robo-Car destroyed by "Roadhog" appears to have Hot Spot's head.
* In a nice artistic touch, Delbo actually draws Backstreet without his cannons until they're returned to him by the Decepticons.

Errors
* Cindersaur, of all people, saying "I can roast 'em later?"
* Zarak has a Decepticon insignia (which he doesn't usually) for only one panel.
* In "Broken Glass!" the Nebulons had to be binary bonded to the Autobot bodies because simply controlling them by remote control was pitifully ineffective. Here Felix overwhelmed Scorponok by remote controlling six Transformers using the jammers.

UK printing
UK issue #192
* Backup strips: Action Force and Combat Colin
* Following the trend from last issue, this issue's splash page was edited to fit the UK comics' aspect ratio. Damn José Delbo and his small splash pages.
* This is the second time that the Sparkler Mini-Bots (as the UK comics called them) were captured by the Decepticons and tormented by the Firecons in the UK comics. The first time was in issues #170-171.
* Some dialogue was edited to reflect the fact that the Sparkler Mini-bots had already been to Earth in the past. The upshot of this is that it's now Backstreet who asks "Where are we?" when they leave the space bridge, rather than one of the Sparklers.
* This was the first issue where Dreadwind got to answer letters addressed to him instead of to Grimlock. In this issue he encourages people to send in anti-Grimlock letters, confirms that Metroplex does have a brain and confuses continuity by claiming that he and Darkwing came to Earth after leaving Nebulos.

UK issue #193
* Backup Strips: Action Force, Death's Head, and Combat Colin
* In Dread Tidings this issue, Dreadwind confirms that he and Darkwing are most certainly not brothers. Hi-Test also shows that he has a very British accent.
* The Death's Head "Backup Strip" in this issue is actually a one-page comic strip meant as an advertisement for Death's Head's own regular series. The UK comics often blurred the line between backup strips and advertisements.
Four million years ago Shockwave followed the crashing Ark down to the planet Earth, but instead of prehistoric Oregon, he landed in the Savage Land where he spent his time productively by fighting dinosaurs. The Ark's barely-functioning computer detected his presence there and reactivated five Autobots to deal with the threat. The Last Stand Rebuilt with altmodes resembling the Savage Land's dinosaurs, these newly-minted Dinobots took one of the Ark's shuttles to Antarctica and battled Shockwave but the mission was only a partial success—while they succeeded in defeating Shockwave and burying him under rock, the Dinobots fell into a tar pit and sank without trace. Repeat Performance!

In 1984, Huffer learned of these events and had Ratchet dispatch one of the Ark's probes to investigate. However, instead of locating the missing Dinobots, the probe reactivated Shockwave who crushed it and then flew to Mount St. Hilary where he promptly defeated the remaining Autobots, Optimus Prime, Bluestreak, Ironhide, and Mirage. Nice going, Huffer. The Last Stand

As the only functional Autobot (he was moonlighting at the hospital when Shockwave attacked) Ratchet needed to bolster troop numbers, so he took a shuttle containing his mobile repair bay to the Savage Land to revive the Dinobots. After digging them out of the tar pit, he replayed the events that led to their subterranean incarceration (for the benefit of the reader) by tapping into Slag's memories. Once reactivated, the Dinobots accepted Ratchet's offer of a second chance to take down Shockwave and they left with him for the Ark. Repeat Performance!

Marvel UK future timelines
Later, the Savage Land's dinosaurs fell victim to a disease that drove them to madness and death. Professor Embrey, a paleontologist stationed there, discovered the Dinobots' shuttle and used its control crystal to create a healing machine. He also established a quarantine zone, using the shuttle's weapons to defend his healthy dinosaurs from the sick ones. In 1992 the Dinobots returned to the Savage Land in the hope of transferring Snarl's mind into the control crystal, to buy him some time while they searched for a cure for his apparently untreatable Corrodia Gravis. At first they were none too impressed by Embrey's appropriation of their technology, but after he pleaded for the lives of his dinosaurs the Dinobots formed a new plan and transferred their stricken comrade's mind into the body of a healthy Stegosaurus. They then departed the Savage Land, leaving Snarl in Embrey's care. Destiny of the Dinobots!
Notes
*The Savage Land is not Dinobot Island. That's a different secret jungle paradise that is home to many monstrous, prehistoric creatures.
*The Savage Land first appeared in the X-Men comic in the 1960s as a primitive land sustained by alien technology. It was included in the Transformers comic as one of many nods to the Marvel Universe during the brief period of time in which the series was considered to be taking place in the mainstream Marvel setting.
It is the destiny of the Decepticons to bring order to the universe through conquest, though in the millions of years since coining this purpose it remains to be seen how much of his mission statement is altruistic... and how much of it is mere words built to fuel warriors to further his desire for personal power.

Megatron will attempt almost anything to achieve his goals, but his schemes are rarely in any way subtle. This is perhaps due to his arrogance, but his pride is not so strong as to dissuade him from abandoning a battle he is losing. Some would question his sanity, though these few are mostly now dead by his hands... or his fusion cannon, depending on his mood. Sometimes he uses his energon mace to strike them down. It does not matter how they die. Death by the hands of Megatron is an honour.

His Earth Alternate mode is usually a modified Walther P38. Contrary to natural assumptions, his fusion cannon becomes the scope, not the barrel.

Sometimes, Megatron is later reborn as Galvatron.
Megatron was a gladiator from Tarn, who sought to turn Cybertron into a cosmic dreadnaught. To win his war for conquest, Megatron's Decepticons developed the art of transformation. Reawakening on Earth in 1984, Megatron was ousted from command by Shockwave, and their power struggle continued for sometime until Optimus Prime killed himself in a video game duel. Refusing to believe his nemesis was dead, Megatron committed suicide by blowing himself up on a space bridge. However, the explosion had merely deposited him in the Dead End region of Cybertron, where he wandered as an empty, with no recollection of who he was.

After regaining his memories, Megatron forced Ratchet to turn Starscream into a Pretender, but the ploy failed and the two were grotesquely fused in a trans-time dimensional portal explosion. Fixit separated their bodies but the two remained in stasis aboard the Ark. They reawoke when Galvatron, a future version of Megatron, attacked, and Ratchet crash landed the ship.

In one universe, Cobra rebuilt Megatron into a tank, and he allied with Optimus against Jhiaxus, his Cybertronians, and the Swarm. In another, fifteen years of peace passed before Megatron rose again.
Megatron was responsible for bringing Cybertron out of its Golden Age when he re-started the Autobot/Decepticon civil war nine million years ago. Among his first actions was the fatal wounding of a young dock worker named Orion Pax, who was rebuilt to become Megatron's mortal enemy, Optimus Prime.

Megatron's forces boarded the Autobots' spacecraft when it was on a mission to search for new sources of energy on other planets, and was knocked offline like all the other Transformers when the craft crashed on prehistoric Earth. When both factions reawakened in 1984, Megatron made it his mission to pillage all of Earth's natural resources and enslave its populace, with the goal of revitalizing Cybertron and dominating the entire universe. His plans were by turns cunning, wicked, outrageous, and often, utterly, utterly ludicrous.

In 2005, Megatron faced off with Optimus Prime in a battle at Autobot City, during which he fatally wounded the Autobot leader, but not without taking severe damage himself. Cast adrift into space, Megatron was found by the planet-eater, Unicron, and recreated as Galvatron.

In other timelines which branch out of this one, Megatron became a Transmetal, ordered the murder of a puppy, and years after his transformation into Galvatron, became Megatron once again, in various powered-up forms.
To rule Earth, Megatron came up with the idea to raid sunken treasure. Once they obtained the treasure, Megatron decided to use a truck to take it into town and buy some factories. Unfortunately for him, the truck was Optimus Prime, who released a bunch of Autobots and defeated Megatron and his men. Search for Treasure Under the Sea Megatron's next plan was to lock up the Autobots in a special Autobot prison. They managed to get most of their enemy captured, but while Megatron was distracted by a cardboard cutout, Bumblebee freed the Autobots and Optimus soon had Megatron wrapped in an iron bar. Bumblebee to the Rescue!

Megatron sent out the Decepticons to find factories to build more troops. They ended up falling into a trap laid by the forewarned Autobots, but Megatron refused to surrender and Optimus Prime threw him into orbit. Floating in space, Megatron promised that next time the Decepticons would win! Decepticon Patrol
The Decepticons kidnapped Sparkplug and Buster Witwicky, but had to retreat during the following battle because they were low on power. The Deadly Fuel Shortage

Deciding that the Decepticons should rule Earth, Megatron set about using the molecular transfer device to steal the planet's fuel supplies. The Autobots soon found out about it, and when they assaulted the Decepticon stronghold, Megatron was bamboozled by one of Mirage's holograms. Summertime Coloring Book After Ravage reported on a communication device possessed by the Autobots, Megatron used a fake message to lure Bumblebee away from the Ark so he could take it over. Tricking thousands of humans into digging a large cavern underneath the Kalahari Desert in Africa, Megatron detonated them with the largest explosion the world had ever seen, transforming the coal and humans into the world's largest diamond. Transporting it to a satellite launch base in Brazil, Megatron gloated the satellite would use the diamond as a lens to melt the Rocky Mountains. Prime countered the attack by constructing a square mile of polished metal, which the Autobots placed below the satellite, deflecting its beam and destroying it. Megatron and Soundwave escaped underground in a turbine mole machine. Satellite of Doom

The duo stole an enormous hovering fuel transport, but Skyfire destroyed it, forcing Megatron to come up with a new scheme: to drill the Prudhoe Bay oil reservoir. Their drill was so powerful, it caused volcanic eruptions and Siberia to approach the US, accelerating tensions between the US and USSR. Optimus had razon gas pumped into the reservoir, returning the oil below the sea floor and rising the Decepticon device. Boarding it, the Autobots once again found Megatron had fled. When Continents Collide He now intended to raise the oil from Brazil, unwittingly destroying the city of Machu Picchu and much of the Andes, as well as wreaking havoc with the weather. With all these failures, Megatron grew jealous of Shockwave's success in getting oil to the Decepticon soldiers. As Decepticon leader, Megatron was part of the forces that attacked the Autobot Ark while it was trying to eliminate asteroids that threated to smash Cybertron to pieces. The Ark crashed on Earth, and four million years later, the Decepticons were first to be woken by the ship's computer. Leaving the ship, they attempted to destroy it, but their energy levels were too low, and Megatron announced they'd have to find new sources of energy. After raiding the nuclear plant at nearby Kimball, they returned to the Ark, only to find it empty. He ordered his men to split up and go in two different directions, and hence they were able to outflank the Autobots. The battle was short-lived, as the Autobots proved too much for them, and the Decepticons retreated. Battle for Cybertron

A bunch of humans set up a race for charity, and the victor would receive a year's supply of oil and gasoline. Well, the Decepticons desperately wanted that bounty, so rather than just steal it, they decided to sneak into the race. Cliffjumper was one of the Autobots driving in the rally and was unaware that the scary black Cadillac was actually being driven by Megatron! Megatron dogged Cliffjumper for quite a while but ended up losing to the Minibot. Cliffjumper won the race and everybody smiled, even Optimus Prime. The Great Car Rally

After a particularly damaging battle, Megatron sent the Seekers to distract the Autobots while he took a small squad to capture a broken-down oil truck nearby, claiming it would allow them to defeat the Autobots once and for all. While he and his men were implementing the plan, somehow Sunstreaker sneaked up and got the truck working again. Megatron furiously pursued the truck and managed to seize it from behind. Suddenly Swoop appeared overhead and Megatron proved unable to shoot him down. The Dinobot dropped a bomb on the group of Decepticons, reducing them to a pile of metal scrap. He was pleased when Kickback informed him that Grapple had been captured, and even more so when Bombshell arrived back at base with the cerebro-shelled Autobot. Megatron instructed Grapple to come up with a plan to steal the energy in the power plant. When the rest of the Autobots turned up to rescue their friend, Megatron took the opportunity to gloat before battle commenced. He ordered Grapple to help them fight, however Grapple, who had been de-cerebro-shelled, called him a "big coffee pot" and threw him on Starscream and Skywarp. Insecticon Attack!
He was furious when Starscream led an impromptu attack on the Autobots at the solar plant and ordered the three jets to retreat before they damaged the reactor. He had Ravage kidnap Blaisedale in an attempt to draw the Autobots away from the plant, before leading an attack himself. He took great delight in sealing Starscream in a tank of Piranacons and placing the Autobots in internment camps, while working on a plan to access Cybertron's core. The Age of Wrath Pt.2

Four million years BCE, Cybertron was threatened by a massive approaching asteroid, so Optimus Prime led a contingent of Autobots aboard the Ark to blow the rock to fragments, which were transported away by an orbital space bridge network. When this task was completed, Megatron chose this moment to strike, attacking the Ark with his troops. Crippled, the craft flew through one of the space bridge portals, and was transported to prehistoric Earth, where it crashed, entombing the occupants in stasis for four million years.

The Autobots and Decepticons were reactivated in 1984, but specific details of their battles in the 1980s and 1990s are unrecorded. In 1999, a Autobot/Human military alliance succeeded in capturing and deactivating the Decepticons. However, the Ark II spaceship carrying them back to Cybertron exploded shortly after liftoff, and the Transformers were believed destroyed. In actuality, they had been scattered back to Earth, where they lay in stasis lock across the globe for three years.

This slumber was brought to an end when Adam Rook (aka Lazarus), a rogue military scientist who had devised a method of controlling Transformers, salvaged many of the fallen Cybertronians and reprogrammed them as mass killing machines, which he then attempted to sell on the black market. Megatron was used to attack and destroy a rebel encampment in South America. Lazarus later demonstrated his voice control of Megatron to a prospective client, however though Megatron obeyed the lesser commands, he would not move when commanded to kneel. Prime Directive issue 1

Having sufficiently raised interest, Lazarus held an auction, beginning with Megatron. He was unprepared when the Decepticon leader demonstrated his autonomy, blasting his way out of the bunker. Prime Directive issue 2 Megatron swiftly put into action a plan to use a cyber-virus to reformat Earth into a new Cybertron, with Lazarus as its first casualty. As the Autobots arrived, Megatron outlined his plan to Optimus, suggesting that the Autobot leader simply let it happen. Prime declined, however as the two factions fought, the US Military decided to enact Operation Clean-Up and dropped a bomb on them. Prime Directive issue 3

The bomb's energy absorbed by the virus, the Decepticons left the area before the Autobots could recover. Megatron unleashed Devastator on San Francisco, resulting in mass slaughter and the devastation of the city. The Autobots arrived and engaged the Decepticons in battle, but Superion's defeat turned the course of the battle towards Autobot defeat. Prime Directive issue 4 Although Prime took down Devastator, he still fell before Megatron, who took the time to point out how worthless the humans around them were. He again suggested that Optimus join him. Prime Directive issue 5 The actions of a group of humans, including ramming Megatron with fire engines, inspired the Autobots to fight back. Optimus slammed Megatron to the ground and delivered a beating, but Soundwave's news that the humans had launched a nuke at their battleground in a virtual repeat of the events in Canada, provoked a peal of laughter from Megatron. Though the nuke was stopped by Superion, the Decepticons escaped in the ensuing chaos. Prime Directive issue 6
Several months later. Megatron was subliminally summoned to a remote area in Alaska along with the other Earthbound Transformers. There they battled until Megatron's former second-in-command, Shockwave, arrived and revealed that in their absence the war on Cybertron had ended. He arrested Megatron, Prime, and their troops as war criminals. Megatron, weakened by battle, was quickly defeated by Shockwave and loaded aboard a shuttle for return to Cybertron, only to have Starscream seize the opportunity to jettison him into space on the return trip. New World Order Megatron used the time floating in space to contemplate his existence and the Decepticon goal. Realizing that he had wasted millennia in his feud with Prime, Megatron resolved to once again conquer Cybertron as a means of enhancing the Transformer race and strengthening it from outside threats. It seemed as through he would not live to accomplish this goal, however, as death closed in on him... only for him to be retrieved by the Junkion Wreck-Gar. Revelation (War and Peace) Wreck-Gar took Megatron to the planet Junkion and repaired and re-armed him, as well as digging up and reactivating a number of seeker clones that had wound up there after being dumped through space bridge portals. Generation 1 issue 0 Megatron returned the favor by stabbing him in the back with an energy dagger. Runnin' with the Devil
Traveling to the Planet Beest, Megatron defeated the exiled Decepticon warlords, the Predacons, and rebuilt them into the mightiest of all combiners, Predaking, to serve as his ace in the hole in his quest to reclaim leadership of the Decepticons. Welcome to the Jungle Moving in stealth on Cybertron, Megatron defeated Shockwave, severing his laser arm and forcing him into servitude. Lost and Found (issue) He then returned to Earth to collect the remaining Decepticons under Starscream's command.
When Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world, found a crashed spaceship full of Transformers in stasis lock, Megatron proved to them that the machines weren't piloted vehicles when he briefly awoke and groaned that he still functioned. Cobra rebuilt the aliens into new vehicles and reprogrammed them to serve Cobra, with the exception of Megatron, who was rebuilt to transform into a Walther P38 handgun, but was only locked in this mode and not reprogrammed. Holstered by Cobra Commander at all times, the Decepticon mocked Cobra's decisions, such as deciding that Starscream, Megatron's traitorous lieutenant, would serve as the Commander's choice of transport. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 1

Regardless of his complaints, Megatron's only chance to be released from his state was to follow Cobra Commander's orders, such as providing instructions on how to create energon. Things weren't all bad, though, as he still got some enjoyment out of seeing his nemesis Optimus Prime being forced to steal and destroy. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 2 Megatron was also pleased when Destro showed up and started bossing Cobra Commander around. {{storylink|G.I.
When the Transformers were cleared of their reprogramming thanks to Wheeljack, Cobra Commander found himself face to face with a very stern Optimus Prime, and tried to use Megatron to shoot the Autobot. However, Megatron still had some control of his body and strictly refused to fire, instead bargaining with Cobra Commander to return him to normal. The human gave in, and Megatron transformed and clashed with his old enemy. With Prime low on energon, Megatron came out on top, but before he could finish Prime off, Starscream attacked him and tried to take leadership of the Decepticons. Megatron got rid of him, but the distraction had allowed several Autobots to come to Optimus Prime's rescue. {{storylink|G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 4|G.I.
Ignoring Prime to focus on some more long-term plans, Megatron made Doctor Mindbender use the SPS Satellite to create large amounts of energon. Finding the situation unsalvageable, Megatron tried to escape while Prime was busy with Soundwave and Reflector. {{storylink|G.I. Things quickly turned for the worse for Megatron; his arm was heavily damaged by a stray beam from the malfunctioning SPS Satellite, he was pounded by G.I. Joe's rockets, and Optimus Prime caught up to him and beat him to a pulp. Prime then stole his fusion cannon and used it to destroy the satellite and smack Megatron across the jaw, defeating him and ending the battle. The Decepticon was disassembled, but unbeknownst to the victors, his remains were seized and experimented upon by the United States government. {{storylink|G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 6|G.I. A few years later, the human scientists had used Megatron's technology to create the Serpent Organic Robot, a synthetic creature that combined the personalities of several of Earth's most famous warmongers and Megatron. After being prematurely activated by Cobra Commander, Serpent O.R. flashbacked to a memory of Megatron's imprisonment and attacked the Cobra leader. Megatron and his underlings lay buried and deactivated under a temple on the Fera Islands for some three million years, until one day in 1938 when they were somehow reactivated by Major Bludd touching the Matrix of Leadership. After learning that Cobra, like the Decepticons, were ruthless conquerors in search of power, Megatron allied himself with the humans. However, this was merely a ruse so that he could get his hands on the Matrix, which proved hard as Cobra Commander kept on his person at all times. Megatron and his troops spent the following year helping Cobra ransack various European nations, stealing energy for themselves while leaving the useless "yellow metal and painted paper" for Cobra. In the summer of 1939, he took out the aerial defense of the English Channel alongside Starscream and Soundwave, clearing the way for an invasion of the United Kingdom. The Line

Hours later at the Fera Islands, Megatron was in the process of beating up Starscream for leaving his post when he spotted an Autobot repair drone in the process of reactivating Optimus Prime and his troops. This angered him slightly more than Destro eyeing his energon cubes. Transformed Deciding that he needed a safer place to store the energy, Megatron commandeered a submarine and forced Cobra troops to move the cubes into it, which did not please Cobra Commander. However, Megatron had decided their alliance had outlived its usefulness anyway, and prepared to squish the fleshling, only to learn the hard way that Cobra Commander could use the Matrix to cause him great pain. As Megatron collapsed, the Cobra leader warned him against ever rebelling again. Trial by Fire
The Decepticon commander decided to bide his time, and stood calmly by Cobra Commander's side as their enemies closed in on the Terrordrome. When Shockwave refused to follow Cobra Commander's orders, Megatron admonished him in order to further trick the commander that he had learned his lesson. Trenches As Cobra Commander's orders led to Shockwave breaking apart, Megatron suggested that he be given the Matrix so he could repair his underling. Unfortunately for him, Cobra Commander did not fall for it, but Megatron at least got to taunt him for wasting valuable troops like that. Shortly afterwards, Bruticus was unleashed, causing a rockslide that crushed Cobra Commander's legs, despite his orders for Megatron to shield him. Instead, Megatron "humbly" suggested that the commander use his gun mode as a means of ending his life. Cobra Commander could not go through with it, but Megatron was simply picked up by the Baroness, who executed her former leader. Free at last, the Decepticon leader went after the Matrix, only to find it had been stolen by Snake-Eyes. Before he could kill the ninja, Optimus Prime arrived and attacked him, keeping him at bay while Snake-Eyes destroyed the Matrix in an attempt to destroy Bruticus, killing all the Transformers in the process. The Iron Fist
Long ago, before the war and under the reign of Nominus Prime, Megatron of Tarn was an energon miner, a member of the lower class, living near Rodion. The caste-ridden social apartheid of Cybertronian society—where your form determined your role, and your role your rights—sickened him and, being an intellectual sort, he wrote a treatise on how pacifist dissent and the exchange of ideas could change things. But then he was arrested for a crime a friend had committed against the Autobot upper classes, and one of their friends in the police beat him in his cell, intending to kill him, while mocking him for how nobody would care about the death of a lowly miner. Police captain Orion Pax, however, found out Megatron was innocent and let him go. But now he was filled with rage and hate, disillusioned with his former ideology and realising the power of applied violence. Chaos Theory Part 1

Continuing to seethe with hate and frustration, Megatron began working at Mining Outpost C-12. One day Senator Decimus arrived at the mine to announce that the mine was being closed immediately and the workers would be relocated. However, one of the Senator's guards killed a worker for insubordination and claims of Senate corruption, which spurred Megatron into action. He attacked Senator Decimus and killed the guard in self-defense, and was shocked to find he had done so. He and the other miners were en route to imprisonment when Rumble and Frenzy broke free and started a riot aboard their ship. They overpowered their guards, damaged Decimus's ship to ward off pursuit, as the authorities would focus on his rescue, and made their way to Kaon. Megatron Origin issue 1
After evading law enforcement, Megatron joined a team of underworld gladiators under the tutelage of Clench. Initially repulsed by killing his opponents, the games eventually turned him more brutal and excessive, and he took control of the entire operation from Clench. The opportunistic Senator Ratbat, after seeing how much money there was in the underworld matches, sent his agent Soundwave to offer Megatron weaponry and technology to upgrade himself and his comrades. Megatron Origin issue 2 Sentinel Prime's Autobots were sent to investigate the gladiatorial games, but when two Autobots were personally killed by Megatron, Prime's forces stepped up their pursuit. Megatron used the gladiatorial games to drum up an army of violent malcontents and spread chaos throughout Cybertron. He then deliberately allowed Sentinel Prime's forces to capture his burgeoning army, Megatron Origin issue 3 so that Starscream (pretending to defect) and Soundwave and his hidden cassette army could exterminate the Kaon Senate and then free every last prisoner. Megatron led the army of prisoners against the Autobots, beat Sentinel Prime nearly to death, and took control of Kaon. Megatron Origin issue 4

Megatron's infamy spread and his message of rising up against the ruling classes struck a chord with many disenfranchised Cybertronians. One such fellow was Drift, who attended a Decepticon rally and was personally asked by Megatron to fight at his side. Megatron rechristened Drift as "Deadlock" and welcomed him into the Decepticon fold. Drift issue 2 Soon enough, the growing Decepticon forces had spread across six Torus-States. Parasites At one point, he met Orion Pax again on Sherma Bridge, where they did battle for the first time.
To Megatron's interest, his now-abandoned treatise had been a source of inspiration for Orion Pax, who had even quoted from it when he confronted the Senate and openly accused them of corruption. When the Autobot captain came close to Kaon during a mission, Megatron saw it as a chance to speak to him and had his Decepticons bring him in. The Hunt for Soundwave Orion, turned cynical by his time in the force, refused Megatron's offers for them to work together against the newest corrupt Autobot leader, Zeta Prime. Orion then escaped, but knowing the doubts he'd placed in his head would only serve to damage the Autobot cause, Megatron let him go. Cause and Effect
Taking Orion back to Kaon, he again offered that they work together against Zeta's corruption, and this time the Autobot officer accepted. Choices As their combined forces invaded the Citadel in Iacon, Megatron and Orion Pax made their way inside and fought Zeta Prime in person. The battle ended with Megatron killing the Prime with a head shot, and with his objective complete, he then betrayed the injured Orion by shooting him in the back. Overthrown

He wasted no time in striking back against the rebels approaching the Citadel with the full force of his army. Broadcast

During the battle, Megatron ordered Blitzwing to distract the Autobots long enough for him to bring out the "vamparc annihilator", a giant vamparc ribbon built inside the Citadel by Zeta Prime. Though he managed to knock out a lot of Autobots, Metroplex arrived and took out the cannon along with the entire building, causing Megatron to fall to the streets and face Optimus Prime himself. He lost the ensuing familiar-looking duel and was badly wounded after a failed attempt to defeat Prime by holding Hot Rod hostage, forcing him to escape aboard Astrotrain. Over time, the war between Megatron's Decepticon army and Optimus Prime's Autobots covered the entire planet and soon beyond to the rest of the galaxy. Optimus grew to respect and fear Megatron as a calm, calculating and measured opponent, while Megatron himself respected Prime's sheer power and his skill as a tactician and as a leader. Escalation issue 5 They would proceed to duel each other directly many times, such as during the Battle for Hell's Point and the Siege of Massunstrad Chaos Theory Part 1, and also fight by proxy, sealing themselves into Omniglobes, "hypercongizance shells" which would feed them the entirety of data from the frontlines, enabling the sides to throw everything they had at each other for a prolonged period of time. The Decepticons didn't even spare the resources to collect their dead, who lay where they fell for eons. Rules of Disengagement

Ultimately, with total war getting nowhere, Megatron would go on to develop a six-stage infiltration protocol to be used for conquering targeted planets, and selected Sixshot, a living weapon he had constructed with frightening amounts of power that only he had the "off-switch" for Devastation issue 5, and the similarly ultra-powerful Overlord and Black Shadow to be the agents who would strike the final blow in each battle. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2 As the Autobot/Decepticon war progressed, the conflict became so great that it created an impending energy crisis and threatened the stability of Cybertron itself.
Later, a Decepticon scientist, Thunderwing, came to Megatron with a revolutionary, controversial plan to stave off this energy death by polydermal grafting, a process where they encased themselves in "symbiotic carapaces", or shells created from living tissue. When Megatron dismissed him angrily and cut him down, Thunderwing did not abandon his research, but instead experimented on himself. As a result, Thunderwing became so powerful that Megatron had to join forces with Optimus Prime to stop him. This battle at Thunderhead Pass accelerated the apocalypse destined to befall Cybertron, leaving it an uninhabitable, radioactive husk and forcing both armies to continue their war on other worlds. Megatron advocated that they simply destroy Cybertron to ensure that Thunderwing was destroyed, but Prime refused, and threatened to stop Megatron if he tried. Megatron agreed not to destroy the planet, but warned Prime that whatever happened was on his head. Shortly after the last big push by the Decepticons, Cybertron was abandoned by both factions.
Seven hundred stellar cycles later, in current times, it was discovered that as a result of digging through Shockwave's files, Bludgeon had resurrected Thunderwing's dangerous project, as well as Thunderwing himself. After being informed of Thunderwing's attack on Nebulos, Megatron dispatched the Predacons in the Thanatos to Cybertron, authorizing Razorclaw to do whatever was necessary to destroy Thunderwing, including the destruction of Cybertron. Stormbringer issue 3 However, Optimus Prime and the Wreckers were able to thwart both Bludgeon and Thunderwing, and so destruction of the planet was averted. Stormbringer issue 4

Megatron, meanwhile, was on Earth, investigating Starscream's infiltration team. He discovered that Starscream had stumbled across Ore-13, an incredible energy source which had been mysteriously seeded there, and that the Air Commander was planning to use it to usurp Megatron's command—this annoyed him, as he had thought they were beyond such power games. Infiltration issue 4 After seriously damaging the hesitantly rebellious Skywarp and Blitzwing, Infiltration issue 5 Megatron ordered the AWOL team to stand down and then took on a super-powered Starscream.
Megatron took stock of Starscream's progress on Earth in light of the discovery of Ore-13 and called a meeting to make Starscream's former troops aware, in no uncertain terms, that any further insurrections would be met with deadly force. Escalation issue 1 Initiating phase two of infiltration protocol, Megatron stole a prototype Psycho-Prism from Doctor Doom's laboratory. He created an "array" structure in Latveria as a base of operations. He sent Skywarp and Thundercracker to the nearby country of Symkaria in hopes they will blame Latveria and start a war. He activated the Psycho-Prism which produced an aggression wave that made nearby humans more aggressive in order to further increase international tensions. Man and Machine, Part One Doctor Doom, not appreciating the Decepticons' setting up shop in his country, tried to remove their base with an army of Doombots.
The Avengers arrived and Megatron let them enter his facility where he scanned them looking for a suitable sample to leech power from as part of their mirror response mode. He selected Spider-Man and captured him. The remaining Avengers retreated and Megatron energized the facilities energy shield. The Autobots arrived and were attacked by the Avengers thanks to their heightened aggression. Man and Machine, Part One

Megatron energized himself and all of his troops except Ramjet, who he didn't trust. Outside, the Autobots were able to nullify the aggression wave amongst the Avengers and they teamed up and started attacking the array. Megatron sent out his energized troops to repel the invaders. Man and Machine, Part Two Ratchet, Prowl, and Luke Cage were able to breech the array's defenses. Megatron captured Ratchet and Luke Cage while Ramjet and Megatron's new ally, Doctor Doom captured Prowl. When his forces outside were defeated, Megatron—on the advice of Doctor Doom—sent a holographic message to those outside that he would kill his captives if they did not surrender. They did not surrender and instead renewed their attack. Megatron blamed Doctor Doom for the failure and turned on him.

Megatron did not go through with his threat of killing the hostages. Instead he went out to face his attackers himself, holding Luke Cage. Man and Machine, Part Three He was beating the opposition until Prowl, Ratchet, and Spider-Man orbital bounced out of the facility. They had been freed by Doctor Doom and the two Autobots used the Decepticon equipment to energize themselves with Wolverine's super power. This added firepower led to his defeat. His Psycho-Prism was destroyed so there was no point in continuing the fight and ordered his troops to retreat using an emergency warp-out. Megatron himself stuck around awhile hoping to beat someone up, but Spider-Man wrapped him up in webbing, Luke Cage knocked him over, and the Autobots opened fire on him while he was down.

After getting the infiltration protocols back on track, Megatron stayed instead of leaving Earth in the hands of a new commander. He decided to try out his new mass-displacing handgun altmode and the Ore-13 power. Escalation issue 2 He personally took charge of the Decepticon subterfuge in Brasnya, guiding the facsimile of Georgi Koska in an attempt to escalate an international incident into a full polarizing war, and acting as Koska's personal weapon. (His alt-mode only works when a human is holding and firing him, which left him at a disadvantage against the Autobots, who could simply pin him down in that form. Maybe Megatron just wants to be held.) Escalation issue 3

When Optimus Prime arrived, Megatron transformed and started a full-blown to-the-death melee with his longtime foe for all the nuts and bolts—this surprised Optimus, who accused Megatron of letting the Ore-13 power go to his head and causing him to be "some raging braggart". Even with his fusion cannon disabled almost right away, Megatron gained the upper hand due to his Ore-13 high. Beating his foe down, he squeezed Prime's spark casing and seemingly killed him; Escalation issue 5 aghast, the Autobots moved into a full but ineffective counterattack, their only edge being that Megatron had no long-range guns left. However, Prime's death was a desperate ruse, and the Autobot leader countered with a surprise attack on Megatron, able to exploit Ore-13's weakness—the more it's used, the faster it burns itself out. Megatron almost collapsed from power loss and was forced to have Skywarp take him to safety before the Autobots could kill him.

Upon returning to base and being refueled and repaired, Megatron was hopping mad. Mad enough to prematurely call in his ultimate living weapon—Sixshot—despite Astrotrain's panic attack on hearing that. Escalation issue 6

Upon Sixshot's arrival, Megatron ordered him to utterly destroy the Autobots, throwing out the methodical "Phase" strategy. The other Decepticons were worried that Megatron was losing his grip—and since they were too scared to tell him that, they decided to revive Starscream to do it for them. Devastation issue 1 Before Sixshot could obliterate the Autobots, Megatron recalled him to deal with a new threat—the Reapers. Devastation issue 4 Megatron deduced that the other Decepticons betrayed him by awakening Starscream, but decided not to punish them yet, due to the present task of destroying the Reapers. Devastation issue 5 After these foes were dead, Megatron was forced to accept Starscream and the others when it became clear the humans were aware of them now. Devastation issue 6

Some time later, the Autobots were led into a trap; false information was planted by an Autobot traitor, and they were led into an ambush and soundly defeated by the Decepticons and the newly-created Devastator. After personally ripping the Matrix of Leadership out of Optimus Prime's chest, Megatron planned to drop the Autobots into the midst of three thousand horrendous things he had created on Cybertron. When all but Prime had gone through the space bridge, Prime grabbed Blitzwing's gun and somehow saved the other Autobots from certain death, closing the portal. Optimus was critically injured by the space bridge, which fried his circuits. All Hail Megatron issue 7 This caused Starscream's status among the Decepticons and their concern about Megatron to go way down, with former dissenters like Skywarp becoming Megatron fanboys. All Hail Megatron issue 1 By use of Sunstreaker's input with Starscream and Bombshell's experimentation on Hunter O'Nion, Megatron was able to defeat almost all the Autobots in the galaxy...

A year after the defeat of Optimus, Megatron decided to take Earth and make it the new Decepticon homeworld. He arrived on the front lines as the Decepticons attacked New York City, humiliating Starscream by outdoing him in destroying things with just one shot from his fusion cannon. When the US Air Force responded with an F-22 squad, as a show of force Megatron had Soundwave disable the human's missile targeting, followed by the Decepticons just standing there shrugging off bullets before making their attack. After one jet was damaged by Skywarp, its pilot attempted to take out Megatron with a suicide run, but the Decepticon leader calmly swatted the incoming plane, causing it to explode. As flames rose from the wreckage, Megatron emerged, completely undamaged, laughing maniacally. All Hail Megatron issue 1 Megatron continued to direct the Decepticon assault on New York, dispatching Frenzy to mop up the U.S. Army's ground forces and ordering the Constructicons to combine into Devastator and destroy the underwater tunnels leading out of the city. All Hail Megatron issue 2

His plan executed flawlessly, the Decepticons continued their assault on the major cities of the United States, disabling or nullifying any attempt by the army or navy to counterattack. As he surveyed his handiwork in New York, he ordered Hook and the Constructicons to begin building something in the once-great human city and appreciated their "sacrifice" in using "substandard" building materials. Soon thereafter he was joined by Starscream, with whom he had a heart to heart and revealed he believed Starscream to be the embodiment of the Decepticon cause, but that Starscream was blind to realizing this. All Hail Megatron issue 3

When the humans had fallen, Megatron made a propaganda speech to his men in the ruins of New York. He heaped great praise on their efforts, both on Earth and across the galaxy, announcing they had finally crushed the Autobots for good. All Hail Megatron issue 4 After making this speech (and dispatching Ratbat to attack a small group of mercenaries led by Commander Witwicky), Megatron entered one of the "buildings" to gaze at his newly prized possession... the Autobot Matrix of Leadership that he stole from Optimus. All Hail Megatron issue 5

That praise turned out to be empty, as Starscream started noticing that Megatron didn't have a plan now victory had been achieved, and the smashy-smash fun on Earth was him trying to distract the troops—because now he had an army of evil sociopathic murderers with nothing to murder and a doctrine of taking power. Not even smashing up Israel made him feel better. All Hail Megatron issue 6 Eventually, Starscream made his move, revealing to Megatron that he had swayed the Insecticons to his side. Megatron easily swatted the insects aside, however, and explained to Starscream that he had known about his plans all along. Unfortunately, he hadn't anticipated Starscream to have rallied the Constructicons backing him up, and found himself having to fight the mighty Devastator. All Hail Megatron issue 10

As the battle was interrupted by an attack from human jets, Megatron and Starscream put their differences aside momentarily to organize a defense. Megatron was not at all surprised by the attack, as he had planned the invasion—nay, the war—down to the smallest detail. He explained to Starscream that while the Decepticon forces may have no real goal at the moment, he planned to remodel them into something greater after the war was done. Then he was suddenly interrupted by something he hadn't planned for: the return of the Autobots. After assuring Starscream that he'd be leader someday (just not right now), Megatron confronted Optimus Prime again, accusing the Autobot of coming for his Matrix rather than truly caring about Earth. He also revealed that Prime's supposedly "innocent" humans were planning to nuke New York, killing millions of their own just to get rid of the Decepticons. All Hail Megatron issue 11

Prime retorted that it wasn't about the humans, it was about the difference between him and Megatron—the difference between Autobots and Decepticons. The two came to blows, and Megatron eventually came out on top by throwing Prime into a building. He ordered the Decepticons to leave Earth, leaving the Autobots to be killed by the humans' nuke... only to be shot in the face by Spike Witwicky, wielding a powerful weapon reverse-engineered from Cybertronian technology. Injured and disoriented by the blast, Megatron was finished off when Optimus Prime got back up and smashed his face in with his own fusion cannon. As he wanted to take leadership rather than just have it fall in his hands, Starscream picked up his damaged leader and took him off the planet. All Hail Megatron issue 12
On board Astrotrain, Megatron was put on life support and was tended to by Soundwave and his cassettes. All Hail Megatron issue 13

The Decepticons eventually settled on a desolate asteroid and Megatron spent the next three years in a CR tank. He was somehow conscious and aware of current events during his recovery. Megatron was forced to simply watch as most of the Decepticon army languished in inactivity and slowly began to unravel under Starscream's leadership. All His Engines But despite Megatron's mental health and awareness, Soundwave eventually realized that his body was beyond repair. He convinced Shockwave, who had been given access to plenty of resources for his space bridge project, to help him build a brand new body for Megatron's consciousness to inhabit. They were successful, and even included space bridge technology in Megatron himself, allowing him to create warp portals to Earth.

Back in action, Megatron devised a plan to destabilize the relationship between the humans and Autobots on Earth. Together with Soundwave and Shockwave, he chopped up his old body and used it to create human-scaled replicas of his former gun mode, containing small pieces of his own consciousness. Starscream caught them in the act, but wasn't too shocked to learn of Megatron's return, as he knew it had been inevitable. Megatron was unable to take back leadership of the Decepticons at the moment, however, as Starscream was in possession of the Matrix of Leadership, an object which Megatron considered a threat due to its mysterious nature. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 2: Altered Carbon

When Rodimus infiltrated the Decepticons' asteroid base and recovered the Matrix from Starscream, Megatron stepped in to intercept the Autobot. Rodimus panicked when coming upon the reborn Decepticon commander and held up the Matrix to try and ward him off. But Megatron simply shot Rodimus at point-blank range, blasting him out into space, Matrix and all. Intent on reestablishing his authority, Megatron then informed Soundwave to gather the other Decepticons so he could address them. Heart Like a Wheel

Megatron and Shockwave then sent a box full of Megatron guns (and his old head) through a space bridge to Earth, where it landed in Quetzaltenango, Mexico. Without the knowledge of any human government, the powerful weapons were then smuggled into the United States by gun enthusiasts and civilians looking for anti-Transformer weaponry. This allowed Megatron's consciousness to spread throughout the land, until it was focused enough to contact one particular owner of a Megatron gun: Joe Gladki. He deceived and manipulated the paranoid human, and eventually convinced him to perform an assassination attempt on Bumblebee, the new Autobot leader. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 2: Altered Carbon In their ignorance, the Autobots then mistook Gladki's gun for Megatron himself and held it captive. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 1: The Demolished Man

With the Autobots in chaos, Megatron started the next phase of his plan and returned to Earth personally, where he used his new stealth bomber mode to shoot down a plane carrying Optimus Prime and several other Autobots. He then hunted down Ultra Magnus, who was in charge following the loss of both Bumblebee and Prime, and killed some Mexicans attacking Magnus's troops with Megatron guns just because. With his powerful new body, he effortlessly defeated the entire Autobot team and killed some of their Skywatch allies. Ultra Magnus tried to stop him, telling Megatron that he was back for the Autobots and not the humans, but Megatron assured him that humanity was his real target. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 3: Woken Furies

Megatron revealed that his entire scheme was a plot to try and crush Optimus Prime's spirit and ruin the fragile alliance between humanity and the Autobots by arming deranged and unstable humans with advanced weaponry based on his old body, thus forcing the Autobots to choose between fighting the humans or allowing them to kill them. He dumped several of the Autobots in a heavily populated area and mind controlled three already paranoid humans to kill the Autobots. He also took Ultra Magnus hostage, having Soundwave keep a weapon trained on him as he taunted Prime about the no win situation he had created. However, he also revealed to Prime that he was controlling the humans, and in a bid to distract him enough to break the mental control, Prime shot Soundwave in the head, badly wounding him. Distraught and furious that his faithful lieutenant had been wounded, Megatron chose to flee to get Soundwave medical attention, forcing him to break communication. Unfortunately however, despite this Megatron's plan succeeded. Jazz was forced to kill a human to save Bumblebee's life, increasing the paranoia and hatred that humanity felt for the Autobots. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 4: Burning Chrome

With Soundwave wounded severely, Megatron took him to a temporary lab that Shockwave had set up on Earth, to have Soundwave repaired. However Shockwave noted that much of the Decepticon's resources had been used to construct Megatron's new body and the new space bridge, and it would take a great deal of time to properly rebuild Soundwave. It was at this point that Optimus Prime attacked again and after threatening Shockwave, goaded Megatron into a confrontation. Megatron ordered his troops not to attack Prime, wanting them to watch as he crippled the Autobot leader and left him for the humans to kill. However one thing Megatron didn't suspect was for Prime to be desperate enough to drop a satellite on top of him, in an effort to kill him once and for all.

However Megatron's new body, empowered greatly by Ore-13, was virtually unharmed by the attack. He beat Prime senseless but then, shockingly, surrendered to the Autobots and was promptly imprisoned inside Omega Supreme. Optimus demanded to know why he surrendered and Megatron taunted him by revealing that Spike Witwicky had murdered a Decepticon in cold blood and told him the humans couldn't be trusted, mocking Prime's desire to work with the humans and warning him that he had doomed his Autobots by allying with Skywatch. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 5: Enemy Mine

Prime immediately had Prowl begin investigating Spike and Skywatch, and one of the first things Prowl did was quiz Megatron on what he knew about Spike's activities. Megatron told him what he needed to know after a little verbal sparring. Police Action: Prologue

When Rodimus returned to Earth and warned the Autobots that Galvatron had taken control of Cybertron, now habitable once more thanks to Alpha Trion repairing the ravaged world and Ironhide and Sunstreaker having wiped out the Swarm, Optimus decided to lead the Autobots to claim their homeworld back from the insane Galvatron. He also decided to bring both Megatron and the Matrix, believing that the humans would be less at risk of Decepticon attacks if Megatron and the Matrix were both off earth. Space Opera—Final Tableaux: Orphans of the Helix

On the way to Cybertron, Megatron was fully scanned by both Ratchet and Perceptor, who, along with Xaaron had come to assist the Autobots in making sure Megatron was secure and to provide legal counsel in how to treat him as he was now a prisoner of war. Megatron was silent while they confirmed that he had no concealed weaponry on him. Shortly after this, Prime himself came to talk to Megatron, wanting for once to have an actual conversation with his old foe and try to make peace, seeing the situation as a chance to finally end the war. Initially skeptical of Prime's reasons for talking to him, when Prime released Megatron from his bonds. Megatron challenged Prime's motto of "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" by pointing out that it was he, not Prime, who had stood up for the Cybertronians who were treated as little more than slaves by the corrupt ruling class of Cybertron and claiming that the only true way to bring peace to the universe was through conquest. After arguing about their conflicting viewpoints the two began to remember old battles and the numerous near death experiences, even laughing together as they shared war stories. It was then that Optimus tried to reach out to Megatron, offering him the chance to end the war once and for all with a handshake, telling him that all he had to do was tell him that he wanted the war to end and it would. Megatron appeared to consider it for a moment but ultimately remained silent. Chaos Theory Part 1

Under pressure to decide whether Megatron would be executed or imprisoned should he be found guilty of crimes against the species and genocide, Prime confronted Megatron and asked him if he regretted any of his actions. Megatron coldly replied that he did not and in fact only regretted that he hadn't done more and killed more Autobots, claiming that he would kill Autobots solely for pleasure and that as long as anyone stood in his way he would kill them. He also claimed that Optimus was secretly glad for the war, taunting him in a manner similar to the way Whirl had once taunted Megatron by pointing out that if the war had never happened Optimus would have lived and died as a nobody, with no one knowing or caring who he was, but because of Megatron Optimus had become famous and the most respected and worshipped Cybertronian of all. It was a taunt designed to make Prime want to kill him and Optimus nearly did, activating the Variable Voltage Harness. Omega Supreme managed to cut the power in time and Megatron, struggling to stay conscious, offered Prime his thanks for saving his life all those years ago in Rodion. Shocked by his actions Prime realised that Megatron wanted to die and wanted him to be the one to kill him.

This was confirmed when he asked Megatron what HE wanted his punishment to be if found guilty at his trial. Death or imprisonment. Megatron calmly replied that he chose death. Chaos Theory Part 2

On the way to Cybertron, Megatron demanded to know who or what was attacking the planet, questioning whether it was Starscream, Shockwave or even Thunderwing. Optimus refused to answer, stating that now Megatron was a prisoner everything going on outside the walls of his cell was no longer his concern and questioning why Megatron was suddenly so sentimental. Megatron ominously noted that Cybertron was more than just a metal world and that if it was in the wrong hands they were all in danger. He also threatened Prime but Optimus simply left the cell, no longer willing to speak with Megatron. Chaos Part One: Lamentations

As the battle with the Sweeps and Galvatron raged across Cybertron, Megatron chose this moment to reveal the ace he had up his sleeve: The Autobots had confiscated a number of the guns made from his old body, which he was able to take control of and use to upgrade himself into a secondary armored mode. This allowed him to break free of his restraints within Omega Supreme, cackling insanely as he broke loose and confronted both the Autobots and the gathered Sweeps, declaring that Cybertron belonged to him and he would not allow Galvatron to have it. Chaos Part Two: Numbers

Tearing through the Sweeps with ease, Megatron summoned his Decepticon forces to kill the Autobots gathered on Cybertron, using a beacon built into his new body to lead them to exactly where he was. While Megatron fought the Sweeps his Decepticons came close to overwhelming the battered and exhausted Autobots, before D-Void, acting through the Heart of Darkness, summoned all the Decepticons to combine into a gigantic monster along with the Sweeps, a monster that began attacking Cybertron and the Autobots. Megatron ordered Prime to come join him in battle against the monster but Prime replied that as he had to deal with Galvatron, it would be up to Megatron to stop the advancing monstrosity. Chaos Part Three: Kings
The mercenary demanded a majority share in all energon mining operations, a deal which outraged Megatron, until Mirage pointed out it was a small price to pay to end the war. When the legendary Energon Cube was lost to the reaches of space, Megatron led a small team of Decepticons across the galaxy in pursuit. The cube crashed on Earth, in the Japanese town of Hoshinochō, where it shattered into innumerable fragments that were scattered far and wide. To search for the cube shards, Megatron and his Decepticons took on the forms of local vehicles and devices, so they could operate in secret. [[Optimus Prime (G1)#Henkei! Henkei!
Ten years later, Megatron discovered that the humans had a "secret weapon" of sorts in their quest: They had allied themselves with the human boy Akira Kihara, who possessed the incredible powers of a "Booster", one of a small number of beings in the universe born with the power to detect and manipulate the energies of the Energon Cube. Seeking the boy's power for his own, Megatron struck, but was repelled when Akira used his powers to their fullest. Alas, Akira overloaded his body and died in the process, and Prime was consumed with guilt. Time of Resurrection
When Starscream struck out on his own, attacking a power plant with the aid of the brainwashed Autobot Skyfire, Megatron observed the battle via a recording made by his spy, Ravage. The events that unfolded during the conflict confirmed Megatron's suspicions: Wataru was also a Booster! Wataru's Power Once again seeking to take the power of a Booster for himself, Megatron tracked Prime and Wataru when they went on a mission to investigate a local relic (in actuality, a cube shard), then struck hard. Taunting Prime with the memory of the last Booster that he had allowed to die, Megatron goaded the Autobot leader into a ferocious battle with their energon-axe and flail. Throughout the duel, Megatron challenged Prime's philosophy and beliefs, eventually striking home with the claim that Prime had hoped to use Wataru's power to defeat him. With Prime's focus broken by this sadly-true accusation, Megatron was able to lay Prime low and seize Wataru, informing the boy that he would not allow him to die like Akira had if he came with him willingly. Naturally, Wataru refused, and activated his powers, forcing Megatron back with a barrier shield; this, Megatron realized, was what had deflected his shot during his first encounter with Wataru, rather than Prime's blast. Wataru used his powers to heal Optimus and power-up his energon axe into a mighty sword, which Prime used to tear a massive gash in Megatron's armor. The explosion that resulted decimated the surrounding countryside, and when Prime and Wataru awoke, Megatron was gone. Optimus Prime's Secret
The injured Megatron had been spirited away by [[Cyclonus (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! As Starscream and Cyclonus battled in the air, Prime approached Megatron, and without hesitation, plunged his energon sword into the Decepticon leader's chest and broke the blade off within his body. Megatron howled in pain and fury, and the energon cubes around him began to react, rising to whirl around him and surround his body with their glow. The maddened Megatron seized one of the cubes and bit into it deeply, causing a huge energon explosion. Shackling the power of the trans-time god-beast Hytherion, this Megatron conveyed time-and-space-manipulating powers similar to those of the Alternity upon himself as his different iterations, forging them into one cross-dimensional gestalt-consciousness entity. To battle the Alternity across time and space, the Megatrons copied their methods, projecting their consciousnesses into auto-avatars. The Megatron responsible for the scheme took control of a "Premium Le Mans Blue" style auto-avatar, while his first known ally (from an unidentified dimension) possessed a "Silver Blade" body. To Mega Therion
This Megatron was amused when Prime deduced that he had an ulterior motive for operating in that year, and so made him a wager: if he could defeat him in a game of his own choosing, he would answer a question honestly. Megatron proposed manipulating the inhabitants of his home universe in a "game full of death and suffering", and infused a portion of his power through a legion of Decepticons (including his own past self) to be pitted against Prime's lone chosen champion, Ultra Magnus. To Die Game!
* Early in the Transformers series preproduction, Megatron's look was based not on the toy, but on concept art for an unproduced prototype version. This early version, sporting a different, black head, a very different scope/fusion cannon, and the gun's barrel on his back, managed to make its way into not only early commercial animation and licensed material, but into the art of the early Marvel Comics. Though the model was altered before the animated series was produced, elements from the first model were perpetuated such as the back-mounted barrel in both the comic and the cartoon. The Marvel Comics continued to color Megatron's helmet black (well, blue) until the end of its run. Cleverly, the IDW comics used the black helmet to show Megatron's younger self and used his normal gray helmet for his modern self in order to show age. Megatron wasn't properly introduced in the commercial, but simply referred to as "The Decepticon Leader".

* The name "Megatron" was originally used by Marvel Comics for another robot that appeared long before the Transformers toyline came about, in issue 18 of the Shogun Warriors series (written by Doug Moench, art by Herb Trimpe, released in July 1980). Strictly speaking, though, the name is even older, as it has been used by a manufacturer of ball points since at least 1965. Bob Budiansky stated in an interview that the name "Megatron" is a portmanteau derived from "Megaton" and "Electronic".

*When Megatron transforms into gun mode, he most often shrinks to a size where he can be held by either a human or fellow Transformer and has someone else aim and fire him. The exceptions are in the episodes "S.O.S. Dinobots" and "The Ultimate Doom, Part 3", the The Transformers video game, the manga issues Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers #4 and "The Battle of the Star Gate" (likely "Activation" too, but the angles makes it impossible to say for certain) as well as the G.I. Joe issue "Realignments". In the cases of "S.O.S. Dinobots", Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers #4 and "The Battle of the Star Gate", Megatron does not shrink and has another Transformer somewhat clumsily aim and move him. In "The Ultimate Doom, Part 3", the video game and "Realignments" (and "Activation"), he floats in the air and takes a shot at his target unassisted. Regardless, the reasons Megatron chooses to Transform instead of simply using his fusion cannon are not entirely clear. The G.I. Joe comic issue states that his robot mode is an easier target than his gun mode, but it's unclear if that's the only advantage the gun mode has over the other. One could assume his gun mode's firepower is more concentrated or in some other way more powerful.

*On the 1985 Universal Studios Tour, a giant statue of Megatron was available for children to clamber over and have their picture taken on. It wasn't especially dignified.

*Megatron once crushed Brawl's head with his bare hands!

* After his fight with Optimus Prime in the 1986 animated movie, Megatron appears to have energon leaking from his eyes and mouth. Either that or he's been crying, which seems unlikely.

Sky-Byte
:Sky-Byte is a Predacon from the Robots in Disguise continuity family.

Deep within Sky-Byte beats the spark of a poet, a scholar, a brilliant and cultured military general who can command armies capable of conquering worlds. But without aptitude and patience, that means jack squat, and Sky-Byte lacks both. Still, he soldiers on, for he is driven...by a desperate need for approval. He needs the blessings of his commander, Megatron, quite possibly more than he needs energon. And Megatron, being Megatron, doesn't dole out praise much, so Sky-Byte tries harder and harder, getting more and more desperate.

This drive is the root of all his problems. He's actually quite intelligent and physically powerful, but he pushes himself to extremes to impress his leader. When he's in control of a situation, he's a deadly, effective foe. But as soon as the situation begins to slip even the smallest bit, he starts to panic and usually ends up doing something to mess things up and lose the upper hand, which makes him panic more, so he overreacts, and gets in more trouble, etc., etc., etc. It doesn't help that while he's ruthless towards Autobots, humans seem quite safe from his ire. Maybe he sees a little something of himself in these underdogs. After all, they developed his new favorite form of expression, the haiku. And they do seem rather impressed by him...

Sky-Byte is in charge of the Predacon lackeys Dark Scream, Gas Skunk and Slapper, not that they give him any modicum of respect. In fact, they're more likely to try and shuffle the blame for their failures onto the shark, a gambit that's actually moderately successful, since Sky-Byte is so very good at making things worse for himself. He has a hate-hate relationship with the new Decepticons, especially Scourge, whom he sees (rightly) as being a huge threat to his position as Megatron's second-in-command.

:Poor frustrated shark.
:Megatron is a dumbass.

As Megatron was dressing down the Predacon trio for their latest failure, Sky-Byte suddenly appeared—demonstrating a skill for either invisibility or teleportation that he would never display again. Scoffing at the other Predacons' energy-gathering abilities, Sky-Byte revealed his own plan — to recover a bomb hidden in a red sports car somewhere in Metro City. He quickly tracked down the sports car in question, startling its driver as he retrieved the bomb from its trunk. Before he could return to the Megastar though, the bomb was taken from him by X-Brawn. He tried his best to get the bomb back, but just as he was about to get hold of it, Optimus Prime blasted it and him into space with a Blizzard Storm. He survived the subsequent explosion, and returned to the Megastar to recuperate and research human culture. An Explosive Situation

After the other Predacons destroyed some goods trains, Sky-Byte came up with a loftier plan to destroy the Linear RFG bullet train. Though his mission succeeded in blowing up a bridge ahead of the train, Team Bullet Train saved the Linear RFG, and Sky-Byte was left trying to justify himself to Megatron. Bullet Train to the Rescue When the Spychangers intercepted the Predacon trio in the process of stealing the Plutonium Energy Generator, Sky-Byte came to their aid. When the situation seemed unsalvageable, Sky-Byte unleashed a Tsunami Blaster attack on the generator to destroy it, but hit the Spychangers instead. The Predacons took the generator back to the Megastar... only to find it had been switched for a fake. Spychangers to the Rescue
{{quote|The cobalt ocean roils<br />

While the Megastar was parked on the Black Pyramid in an attempt to extract power, Sky-Byte and Dark Scream were sent out to protect it against a civilian ship. The Autobots soon came to help the ship, and while fighting underwater, Sky-Byte was able to hold his own against Optimus Prime. Once the ship was righted, Sky-Byte found Prime a much more formidable opponent, and what's worse, the Autobot leader critiqued his poetry. The Predacons beat a hasty retreat. The Hunt for Black Pyramid Megatron and the Predacon trio distracted the Autobots while Sky-Byte went to the Payuma ruins to find information hidden by Doctor Onishi. Unfortunately he was spotted by Side Burn and Koji Onishi, who alerted Optimus to the shark's presence. Prime was unable to prevent Sky-Byte making off with a casket containing a microchip, however once out of the ruins, the Predacon was confronted by Prowl and X-Brawn, who blasted him. The Secret of the Ruins

Sky-Byte concocted another plan, to capture Side Burn and use him as bait to draw Prime into a trap. Though it was successful in ensnaring Prime, the rest of the Autobots turned up to rescue their comrades. Sky-Byte later successfully deflected the blame onto Gas Skunk and Dark Scream. Sideburn's Obsession The Predacons extracted information from a stolen disk belonging to Dr. Onishi, leading them to believe that the steam engine "Grandpa" was a weapon of extraordinary power. Megatron sent Sky-Byte and the other Predacons to capture it. Sky-Byte made an unsuccessful attempt to infiltrate the engine via the smoke stack, and the other Predacons didn't have any better luck, though they temporarily gained possession of the steam engine after it had offloaded its passengers. The mission was ultimately a failure. Secret Weapon: D-5

After Dark Scream planted a bug in Mirage, the Predacons overheard him breaking up with Ironhide. Mirage's words moved Sky-Byte to tears. He later suggested that they try and persuade Mirage to defect to their side. Although it seemed for a time that they'd succeeded, even to the point where Sky-Byte showed off the new Mega-Laser Cannon, it was a ruse. Mirage and the Spychangers destroyed the cannon. Mirage's Betrayal Sky-Byte tried a similar trick on the rogue Autobot Skid-Z with no success. When the Predacons discovered that the Autobots had entered the International Grand Prix, Sky-Byte cunningly disguised himself as a red racing car and entered as well. After being chatted up by a suspicious Side Burn, Sky-Byte was inadvertently fragged by Megatron in the early moments of the race. Then when he was able to catch up with the Autobots, he was mistakenly blasted by Megatron again. Skid Z's Choice

Still believing he could convert an Autobot into a Predacon, Sky-Byte captured new recruit Tow-Line. After suffering through the other Predacon's attempts to hypnotise the Autobot, he used a special CD to brainwash Tow-Line. Unfortunately it was only partially successful—Tow-Line started towing away the other Autobots, but he took them to the wrong place. By the time Sky-Byte worked out what was happening, the rest of the Autobots were alerted, and promptly battled him into retreat. Tow-Line Goes Haywire Investigations into reports of a transforming statue took Sky-Byte to the Cave of the Dragon in China. Luckily the Autobots were able to save the cave via an elaborate deception involving Prime and Team Bullet Train disguising themselves as a statue and dragon. The Ultimate Robot Warrior Despite these indignities, he was still viewed as "sneaky, clever and dangerous" by the Autobots. Hope for the Future

Sky-Byte led a mission to dig up some Autobot protoforms, and took them to Army Base with the other Predacons while Megatron kept the Autobots busy. There, they reformatted the protoforms into the Commandos. Sky-Byte created Movor when he fell, aiming the stasis pod's scanner at a space shuttle in orbit. The Decepticons Scourge and the Decepticons proved much more competent than the Predacons, and Sky-Byte was driven to desperate measures to try and regain his lost status in Megatron's eyes. He and the Predacon trio disguised themselves as Optimus Prime in an attempt to ruin the Decepticons' mission to destroy Sherman Dam. Though Sky-Byte attempted to gain Megatron's favor by blowing up the dam himself, he was unsuccessful. Commandos

Disappointed at the failure, Megatron assigned Sky-Byte and Scourge to guard a location on Montrose Island while the Predacon trio dug in search of an O-Part. After Prime showed up with the Spychangers, Sky-Byte took advantage of the chaos in battle to try to slag Scourge. Volcano While the Decepticons put another plan into action, they distracted Sky-Byte by getting him and the Predacon trio to mark out a rendezvous location. When the four Predacons finally tried to get in on the action, Sky-Byte barely had time to transform before Movor blasted him from orbit. Attack from Outer Space

Sky-Byte trashed an oil rig on Megatron's orders, only for Scourge to show up and attack him. After reporting to Megatron, the shark eavesdropped on Mega-Octane meeting with Prime as a prelude to defection. He continued to spy as the Decepticons attempted to prove themselves sincere to the Autobots, and eventually could stand it no more. Although his attack on the traitors was futile, he inadvertently caused Scourge to expose the entire ruse. The Test (episode) Sky-Byte's self-esteem was soon nonexistent (especially after an on-line Fish Personality Test told him he was a jellyfish), and he became desperate to gain Megatron's approval. He and the Predacon trio disguised themselves as Autobots and interfered in a Decepticon mission to raid a storage plant. Unfortunately this went disastrously wrong, resulting in him being chewed out by Megatron. His next attempt to set the real Autobots on the Decepticons went awry when he sent them to the wrong power plant. As he moped on a seaside cliff, the other Predacons talked him into attacking a power plant in an attempt to outdo the Decepticons. When this went badly as well, Sky-Byte took his frustrations out on the computer, only to get electrocuted for his troubles. The Fish Test

Determined to discredit the Decepticons, Sky-Byte came up with a new plan, having his henchmen attack a diamond mine in the Antarctic to lure the Autobot Brothers into a trap. When the Build Team turned up instead, Sky-Byte took Wedge hostage, and Heavy Load bargained for the young 'bot's return with a disk containing a map of the Autobot Global Space Bridge. Despite interference from the Decepticons, Sky-Byte and his cohorts used the map to enter the tunnel indicated on the map, only to discover that the disk only contained a map of the sewers. They were subsequently drenched by Optimus Prime's Blizzard Storm. Wedge's Short Fuse

Eventually, to get attention, Sky-Byte led the Predacons in the attempted destruction of the new CGA Tower. This plan would've worked, except the Autobots, thinking the humans in the tower were the Predacon's hostages, asked what demands he wanted met for their safety. Wanting to seem like he knew what he was doing, Sky-Byte made up a random demand on the spot that by sheer chance was interpreted as a demand for O-Parts. He'd achieved accidental success, only to take out the tower's last support by mistake and be forced to stop it collapsing so he'd still have his hostages. This single-minded desire to keep the tower up was interpreted by the hostages and TV news crews as the Predacon trying to save them for altruistic reasons, and when the hostages started to cheer him on, Sky-Byte gave his all to keep them safe out of an increasingly genuine desire to save them. ("My hostages need me!") It was only hours after the tower was saved and the Predacons were nursing their damaged backs that they remembered about getting the O-Parts... Sky-Byte Saves the Day

Some time later, while spying on the Decepticons, this accidental heroism came back to haunt him, as he was pestered by a group of kids led by Koji Onishi, who wanted his autograph. A proud Predacon, Sky-Byte was bewildered by this attention, although he briefly thought of using it as a way to get his haikus published.

Despite all his failures, Sky-Byte was still regarded as extremely loyal. As a result, Megatron sent him to get the remaining O-Parts...with Sky-Byte unaware he'd been fed false info and was being used by the Decepticons to draw the Autobots into an ambush. Poor Sky-Byte spent ages digging, finding only the detritus of Humanity and war surplus Ultra Magnus (episode), and was still digging long after Megatron thought he'd have stopped. In a stroke of luck, though, this allowed him to notice Optimus Prime was wounded and track him to where he was being repaired. He could now kill Optimus when he was weak and Megatron would reward him! Unfortunately, the Decepticons, Megatron and Ultra Magnus had all tracked him, and poor Sky-Byte was left surplus to requirements once again. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

Sky-Byte made an attempt to persuade Ultra Magnus to join the Predacon cause. When the Autobot Brothers interceeded, they were promptly captured by the Decepticons, and Ultra Magnus continued to feign interest in Sky-Byte's offer. After extracting the location at which the Autobot Brothers were being held, Ultra Magnus turned on him along with Team Bullet Train. The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus He and Megatron joined the Decepticons during another battle with the Autobots, though after Magnus and Prime formed Omega Prime, he quickly ran and hid. Power to Burn!

More information extracted from Doctor Onishi led the Decepticons to venture into the subway system under Metro City. Sky-Byte followed them, but soon lost track of his quarry, and instead came upon a giant cake. Though it turned out to be stale (and actually a subway car), he caught up with the Decepticons and continued spying, only to be washed away by a torrent of water. Fortress Maximus (episode)

Sky-Byte took Dr. Onishi out of the Predacon base to help search for Fortress Maximus, in an attempt to find it before Scourge. In the process, he ran into Koji, who appealed to him to help rescue his father or at least to pass on a birthday present. The Predacon actually felt bad for Koji and was reduced to a blubbering wreck by the boy's appeal, but was mortified to find Koji didn't believe he was a threatening villain any more. Sky-Byte later became so preoccupied with battle that he tossed Dr. Onishi to Koji, leading the youth to believe Sky-Byte had deliberately rescued his father out of the goodness of his heart. The Autobots believed this too and apologized to Sky-Byte for fighting him (after they'd already blown the tar out of him). Koji Gets His Wish

When the Autobots and Decepticons set about finding the rest of the O-Parts, Sky-Byte came up with a series of cunning plans, including fake O-Parts, to ensure that he and Slapper would get to them first. Unfortunately the plans all backfired, and a last-ditch attempt to swap the fake O-Parts for the real ones left them all in Autobot hands. A Friendly Contest Despite this failure, Megatron allowed Sky-Byte to take part in a mission to the Sahara Desert to find the artifact that the Autobots were after — the Orb of Sigma. His attempts to prevent Side Burn escaping with the Orb only resulted in him being run over by both the Autobot Brothers and the Decepticons. Peril from the Past With Megatron gone, Sky-Byte and the Predacons found that Scourge was even more unpleasant to work for than their former leader. They attempted to get into Scourge's good graces by snatching Cerebros from the Autobots and greasing up to the Decepticon. In the following battle for Fortress Maximus, Sky-Byte was delighted by the arrival of his former leader, resurrected as Galvatron. Maximus Emerges

During another attempt on Scourge's part to control Fortress Maximus, Sky-Byte watched nervously, as he knew every one of the Decepticon's victories would mean Galvatron ignoring him even more. During the fight after the arrival of the Autobots, Sky-Byte accidentally saved Koji's life and was horrified at the idea Galvatron would find out. The Human Element Later on, while talking to himself, he would admit to having a friendship with Koji, though it was nothing to getting into Galvatron's good books, and he still attempted to kidnap the boy to help control Fortress Maximus (being Sky-Byte, he grabbed the wrong person). He accompanied Megatron and Scourge as they attempted to get the boy Karl to control Maximus. When Scourge finally showed his true colors, turning on Galvatron, Sky-Byte unexpectedly found himself back in Galvatron's good books. His leader tasked him with carrying Scourge's stasis-locked body back with them. Mistaken Identity

Galvatron remarked the Predacons had always been trustworthy and gave Sky-Byte command of the Decepticons. Proud to finally be where he belonged again, Sky-Byte even managed to locate the Autobot base by following Koji and led an assault on it. He and the Predacons pursued Optimus Prime into an Autobot trap. The array of Autobot firepower caused him to cower behind rocks, crying for his "blankie". Surprise Attack!

During the final battle, Sky-Byte was almost killed when he led the Predacons into the Global Space Bridge after the Decepticons—not realising Galvatron intended to kill them. Sky-Byte was left on his own Galvatron's Revenge and escaped certain death just in time to be ordered to hold off the entire Autobot army. This did not go well for him, oh no.

Following Autobot victory, every Decepticon and Predacon was rounded up to be incarcerated, but the Autobots hadn't captured Sky-Byte. (Whether they'd forgotten about him or he was hiding well is unknown.) He was left to spend the rest of his life on Earth, a fate the other Predacons seemed to view as worse than death, though his own attitude as he swam off into the sunset singing suggests he felt quite differently... The Final Battle (RID)
Sky-Byte and Scourge were sent on a joint mission, although they did nothing but bicker until Optimus and Ultra Magnus showed up. While Scourge battled them, Sky-Byte took advantage and made off with the goods, leaving Scourge with a haiku to keep him thinking. Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
The Rescue Bots disobey the Chief's orders and find themselves in a life-threatening situation.

Synopsis
Cody, keen to play catch with dad, finds his siblings watching television. Huxley Prescott has dared himself to jump out of an airplane, however as Graham observes, Huxley's chute cord is tangled up. Chief Burns orders the team to scramble, much to Cody's disappointment. As the reporter is falling way too fast to pluck out of the air the team looks for an alternate way to save him and Cody spots a nearby kids party with a bouncy house. Kade manages to clear the children off it, and Blades uses the downdraft from his blades to redirect Huxley aso that the other bots can use the bouncy house to break Huxley's fall without breaking him.

Later, Chief Burns finds Cody looking sad because he didn't get to spend time with dad. Charlie decides to invite him along on a security assignment on Griffin Crest. Cody's soon packing though the bots are disappointed that they're not going to get to come along. Blades fails to see the attraction in sleeping outdoors, while Chase has found the Lad Pioneers Handbook (1959 edition) and starts quoting from it. As Chief Burns arrives to get Cody, he tells the bots that Kade is now in charge, and orders them not to cross Canyon Road. The two Burnses reach Griffin Crest, while Chief Burns explains how the Crest has an EMP generator on it to create a safe zone from technology, in case anything ever went rogue.

Back at base, Chase is still reading the handbook, while Boulder messes with the camping gear. Boulder inadvertently gets stuck in a bubble tent, which also triggers a campfire starter, but the minor emergency is soon dealt with.

Cody and Chief Burns continue to check the fence around the Crest, but encounter a bear. They hide behind a rock and the Chief uses a holographic generator provided by Doc Greene to lead the bear away. While dad opens the gate, Cody calls the station, but his garbled message leads the bots to believe that there's the two humans are being attacked by a bear. Chase stops Heatwave giving the order to roll out, noting that it would be against orders and that Kade is in charge. They try to contact Kade, but Kade's gone to a movie with Haley and is ignoring his comms. Heatwave decides they're heading out anyway.

At the Crest, Cody and his dad watch a geyser, Old Parker, go off, though Chief Burns has to chase away a squirrel.

The bots approach the Crest, but Chase stops short, determined to follow the order not to cross Canyon Road. Once Blades flies over the fence surrounding the crest, he's hit by the EMP, and as Heatwave and Boulder crash through the fence, so are they. The three bots come to a halt, immobilized in their vehicle modes. Chase, unaware of the problem, finds he can't contact the others. He ends up ringing the emergency line and faking a litter emergency so he can call out the rest of the team. Things get worse for the immobilized bots, as a bear, attracted by the sandwich Kade left in Heatwave, starts attacking the Rescue Bot.

The sound of Heatwave's tire being burst reaches the Chief, but before they can investigate, they encounter the bear and are forced to retreat up a nearby cliff. After Cody nearly slips, they start working their way along the side and Cody spots the immobilized bots, and the fact that they're stuck on top of Old Parker. They start heading down slowly, to avoid the bear.

The rest of the team arrives in Kade's old fire engine, and Kade finally overrides Chief Burns' orders so Chase can cross Canyon Road. They soon arrive at the fence around Griffin Crest and use a rope to tie Chase to Boulder and Blades. He manages to pull the pair clear of the EMP zone, but Old Parker eruption is imminent and it's too hot for the humans to go back and hook up Heatwave. Chase runs into the EMP zone and throws himself on top of Heatwave, right as the geyser goes off. After a few worrying moments, as the steam clears, the others see that Heatwave and Chase are safe inside the bubble tent. The pair are hauled out, and Chase points out that the tent's resistance to high temperature is in the manual. Chief contacts them from the other side of the zone to let them know he and Cody are OK, before he goes to enjoy a night of camping with Cody.
