:Brawl is a Decepticon from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family. He is sometimes referred to as Devastator, and sometimes has a twin called Devastator.
To say Brawl is a warrior is like calling Cybertron a hunk of metal. Brawl does not just enjoy fighting, he is consumed by it. Tearing Autobots apart is embedded into his very core, and every fiber-optic cable of his being is obsessed with wild, unyielding combat. The only thing he enjoys, or even cares about, is the fury of battle. And he loves a good explosion. Particularly if it's one he created, and if it was an Autobot that is exploding.
Many years in the past, Brawl was a member of Cybertron's defense forces, under the command of Protector Megatron. After the discovery of a mysterious relic and an alien attack Defiance issue 1, Megatron changed significantly, altering the military's mission from one of protection of Cybertron to making war upon the hostile aliens and anybody who would stand in their way. Defiance issue 2 Brawl was sent on a mission to capture science division leader (and thorn in Megatron's side) Optimus and eliminate his fellow scientists and the unwitting security team sent to arrest him. Brawl fired an explosive round that scattered the "traitors", but the wily Optimus managed to bury Starscream and his fliers under a mountain of rubble. They survived and subsequently joined Megatron's new "Decepticon" faction. Defiance issue 3

During the war, while Starscream's forces assaulted the Autobots at Tyger Pax, Brawl bashed his way past faltering Autobot defenders, bringing news that Megatron knew where the All Spark was. When Starscream excitedly declared that he must go to the cube, Brawl questioned his loyalty, prompting Bonecrusher to threaten the latter with violence lest he not take the group to Megatron. After witnessing Megatron leave Cybertron to chase after the escaping All Spark, the Decepticons followed. Planetfall

They boarded a Decepticon battlecruiser and gave chase to Optimus Prime's starship, only to fall prey to an Autobot trap. After repairing their ship, they followed the All Spark's trace energy pulse to the fourth planet of a distant solar system, where they encountered a primitive lifeform that have could have been born from the All Spark's energy. The Reign of Starscream issue 1

The Decepticons landed on Earth and were detected by a nearby US air base, which sent an armoured personnel carrier to investigate. Brawl took the words right out of Bonecrusher's mouth, remarking that at last there was something to kill. Wreckage assumed the form of the carrier vehicle, destroyed it, then led Starscream's unit to the base. Brawl trans-scanned a nearby human tank and joined the others in leveling the base. Planetfall

<strike>Brawl</strike> Devastator was known as Megatron's "pet weapon of mass destruction". Nonchalant and cavalier (he even has bandoliers of bullets!), he follows a single guiding principle - "keep it stupid... simple!".
He also looks physically similar to Brawl, who's some other guy. Transformers Comic issue 3
Megatron threw him at the Autobots so he could reach the All Spark, and had armed him with a foldspace warhead. When the Autobots pointed out that at this range, the warhead would take him out as well, he replied "Eh. So?" and fired anyway. Devastator ended up warped to an uninhabited world covered with cities, and out of sheer boredom went around smashing a lot of it before he realized he should try getting off the planet. Yet every time he attempted to focus long enough to find a way to do so, he would be mysteriously and suddenly filled with a violent rage that would make him smash and blow up more stuff. Eventually he was able to concentrate long enough to find and scan a vehicle mode as well as lock onto an energy source he can use to replenish his fuel reserves to leave the planet.

The mysterious Flame, a power source that drove the planet's inhabitants to murder, tried to influence his mind towards rampaging until his fuel ran out; as he got nearer to it, it created apparitions of the other Decepticons that taunted him for his stupidity and attacked him. This failed to influence him as it would require Devastator to have introspection, or care about being stupid - instead, he simply carried on to the Flame, absorbed some of it, and left the planet. Transformers Comic issue 4
A mere half-hour after Megatron's death and before his body was dumped in the sea, Devastator was resurrected by Starscream as a mindless zombie, a soulless monster that would only destroy. Brawl was oddly absent from events surrounding the Ghost 1 discovery. Whether he was aboard the Nemesis and otherwise indisposed or joined up with Starscream at a later date is unknown. Ghosts of Yesterday

Brawl (also named "Devastator" here) was lying in wait at a military depot when Starscream contacted the Decepticon infiltration team, informing them that the All Spark had been found and they were to move out. Devastator acknowledged that he was in transit and rolled out of the depot. He met up with Barricade and Bonecrusher and hit the highway, though Devastator separated from the group before Barricade and Bonecrusher got on the freeway and met up with Autobot/human convoy.

Arriving at Mission City in the aftermath of Starscream's opening attack on the Autobots and their human allies, Devastator fired shells from his main gun, narrowly missing several targets before running over vehicles abandoned by human bystanders. As the American soldiers fanned out in search of cover, the Autobots charged Devastator. He focused his attacks on Ironhide, who was forced to somersault over his shells. This distraction allowed the Autobot Jazz to jump on top of Devastator and point his cannon away from the humans. Devastator managed to transform and throw the smaller Autobot off him, but not before Jazz destroyed his left side rocket launcher pod.

Damaged, but not down, Devastator fired two rockets from his remaining launcher, missing the heavily armed Autobot as he somersaulted over the missiles. Ironhide and Jazz managed to fire several shots at Devastator, disorienting him. Ratchet followed up by using his buzzsaw to slice off Devastator's left arm. The humans then fired a volley of sabot rounds while Ratchet supported with suppressive fire, knocking Devastator to the ground. The only thing that saved him was the Autobots and humans' retreat at the arrival of Megatron. Eventually, Ironhide and Ratchet disengaged from the battle as they left to protect ladiesman217, who was escaping with the All Spark, while Jazz took on Megatron. Now with fewer targets to deal with, Devastator sprayed heavy machine gun fire at the remaining humans, whose leader remarked that the battle was not going well.

Devastator continued to pin down the soldiers until the damaged Autobot Bumblebee suddenly attacked while on the back of of a tow truck driven by Ladiesman217's female companion. Devastator tried to return fire, only for his machine gun, his last ranged weapon, to be destroyed by Bumblebee's plasma cannon. With the Autobot's return to battle being the deciding factor, the human soldiers rallied and fired more sabots, piercing Devastator's armor until a final shot from Bumblebee struck Devastator's spark and killed him. Devastator died as he lived: destroying things, for his chassis crashed into the building the human soldiers had taken refuge in.

Devastator's body was dumped into the deepest part of Laurentian Abyss along with his fellow Decepticons, in the hopes the intense pressure and cold will destroy whatever remained. Transformers (2007)
He disappeared into the rugged land around the Hoover Dam. Making his way over the course of months to the most dangerous place on Earth (presumably the Middle East), he adapted his vehicle mode to the new environment, went to ground and hid from the Autobot [patrols. As Optimus Prime attempted to rendez-vous with the other Autobots near Hoover Dam, Brawl blocked his only path &mdash; a hidden Air Force hangar tunneled into the canyon. He fought Prime with all his might, but the Autobot leader was too much for him. As Sector 7 tanks arrived, he converted to his vehicle mode, managing to con the tanks into his own reinforcements. In his tank mode, Prime could no longer damage him as much and had to resort to smashing the tanks into Brawl to damage him. At the Hoover Dam, he is sent to capture a human tank, which he retrieves intact so as to interrogate the occupant human. Once the interrogation is done, the tank doesn't stay intact long, as he can be seen merrily destroying it while Create-A-Bot converses with Barricade. : Deluxe-class Brawl transforms into a heavily modified fictional tank based upon an M1A1 Abrams, fitted with angular reflective armor, a mine plow and external spare fuel canisters. Mounted upon the turret is a smaller sub-turret housing two anti-aircraft cannons and rocket launchers. The spring-loaded main cannon fires a translucent red projectile.

: During transformation to robot mode, automorphing pushes down on the front of his tank during transformation raises the front of the treads and his head up into position for his robot mode, and vice versa for the tank mode. He is armed with his spring-loaded main gun on his right arm and a flip-out blade on his left.

: There is a design flaw in the way Brawl's arms attach to his torso - the rhombic peg and socket system used does not provide a tight enough fit, and thus the arms have a tendency to detach at the shoulder when moved. There have also been quite a few reports of the teeny-tiny automorph gears - molded out of fragile translucent plastic - cracking and breaking into pieces, leaving the automorph non-functional.

: This Target exclusive features the Deluxe Class Brawl in unique cylindrical packaging, with the only difference from his standard release being that key robot mode parts are highlighted by the slavish 'All Spark Blue' color for no other reason than to sell toys.

Leader Class toys
*Decepticon Brawl (Leader Class, 2007)

: The larger, more heavily armed version of Brawl, this figure is more accurate to the character's CGI model, with more articulation and weapons than the Deluxe-class figure.

: While having no firing missiles, it does feature a number of Automorph gimmicks. First, pressing the button on the front of the tank causes his head and chest pieces to move into position. A scoop/claw has been added to the front of the tank, probably to make the lever to push his head back down stand out less. Second, pressing the headlights on either side of the front end causes the paneling to swing back into place. Finally, Brawl has automorph weapons on each of his forearms - his right arm has a quadruple-barreled cannon that extends as you slide a switch forward, while his left features a swing-out claw, deployed by pulling back the arm's cannon.

: Other features include lights and sounds, activated by pushing back on the main cannon or turning the upper turret. The turret sounds can also be activated by pressing the two small buttons on the top of the turret, on either side of the machine gun. A pair of blades can also swing down from the legs.

: Possibly due to safety reasons or just the desire on the part of the designers to not see fragile parts break, the main cannon and anti-aircraft guns on Brawl's turrets detach from their mounting points rather easily.

*Deep Desert Brawl (Leader Class, 2008)

: An extensive redeco of Leader Class Brawl in desert colors, as part of the AllSpark Power refresh of the movie toyline. His vehicle mode comes with battle damage carbon scoring as well as Autobot "kill" markings. His clear plastic parts are cast in bright translucent blue, along with the bright blue paint seen on his robot mode, a color accent he has in common with the rest of the AllSpark Power toys.

*Double Missile Decepticon Brawl (Fast Action Battler, 2007)
**Accessories: 2 missiles

: "Double Missile Brawl" is a simplified version of Brawl. Designed for younger children, his transformation is designed with speedy conversion in mind, with relatively few steps compared to the Deluxe class Brawl. Additionally, in an effort to keep the design sturdy for play and safety, he has relatively low articulation for a figure of his size, while the design style of the figure is more rounded and 'friendly'. Two pressure-launched missiles are fired from his two missile pods.
**Accessories: 2 missiles

*Decepticon Brawl (Cyber Slammer, 2007)

: Cyber Slammers Brawl is an amazingly cute tank that transforms into an amazingly cute sentient machine of mass destruction. "Slam" his robot mode down into tank mode and he rolls along, slowly transforming back up into robot mode. Like most Cyber Slammers, Brawl manages to cram most of his vehicle mode's major details into a compact, super-deformed version of that mode.

:Titanium Series Brawl is a die-cast metal and plastic figurine, with an accurate sculpt based on the CG model (or the concept designs) owing to the fact he doesn't need to transform. : Brawl is a 41-point "Rare" piece in the 3D Battle-Card Game. Constructed of punch-out pieces from plastic cards, he can be assembled into his tank mode, or a sort of representation of his robot mode. Oddly enough, he does not actually have his movie-model head; rather, he uses a recolored version of Barricade's noggin slapped on the Brawl body.

: He uses the same construction as the Wreckage and Blitzwing cards.
: His card art was done by Lucio Parrillo.
* Working names for Brawl were "Demolisher" and "Devastator", the latter of which had also been a working name for Blackout at one point. Even though Michael Bay confirmed in May of 2006 that "Devastator" was not the final name, screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman confirmed the final name to be "Brawl" in April 2006, and Hasbro used that name for all their toys based on the movie character, he identifies himself as "Devastator" in a subtitle in the movie itself (even though the garbled audio used for his voice sounds an awful lot as if he says "Brawl, reporting"). According to a fan who attended the Australian press conference, Bay had confirmed that he had decided to use that name "Devastator" because he had preferred it, while Hasbro considered the name in the movie a "continuity error", and Orci even claimed that he and Kurtzman had pointed out said "error" in the editing room twice. But whoops, Titan Magazines had just done two strips with him called Devastator! The editor hurriedly stated in #3's letters page that Devastator was a different guy, honest, and a cover for a later issue made sure to identify Brawl as Brawl; so now there's two of them (and Brawl nicks Devastator's toys, the dastard)! Finally, IDW's Reign of Starscream retconned in that he was called Brawl at Mission City all along.

* And then Revenge of the Fallen brought two new guys called Devastator and Brawl.

* Does your head hurt? Mine does.

* Despite rumors to the contrary, he is not credited in the film under either name.

* The name "Brawl" was previously also a working name for the character ultimately called Barricade.

* According to Picture Vehicle Coordinator Steve Mann, the filming prop of Brawl was a redress of a tank prop made for another movie. Specifically, it was the "stealth tank" seen in the film xXx: State of the Union. Notable changes include the addition of missile launchers on the sides of the secondary turret and a mine plow on the front end of the tank.

*Jazz' move of racing-transforming-boarding Brawl is not completely unlike the scene in The Transformers: The Movie where Kup does the same thing with Blitzwing. The DVD's special features confirm this was the inspiration.

* Brawl is the most heavily armed Transformer in the movie, followed by Blackout. Unfortunately for him, he has no chance to unleash his full armament, as many of his weapons are broken before he can use them. For example, Jazz kicks off the four-tube missile launcher on his left shoulder, and Ratchet slices off his left arm at the elbow, blades and all. Don't you just hate wasted potential?

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots. Long ago, he was the humble leader of Cybertron's sciences division, which studied the All Spark, and were protected by Lord High Protector Megatron's military. When Megatron was corrupted by The Fallen, Optimus discovered that he was the last of the Dynasty of Primes, hidden away when The Fallen destroyed their lineage. In response to Megatron's attempts to seize the All Spark and conquer other worlds, Optimus assumed his proper title and rallied the Autobots to stand against the Decepticons.

As obsessively as Megatron strives to achieve his objective, Optimus is equally as dedicated to stopping him, even at the cost of his life, his world, and—if necessary—his own people. It was on his order that the All Spark was jettisoned into space, dooming Cybertron to a slow death and his people to nomadism. The sacrifices he has made weigh heavily on his spark, but they must be done, for there is no other choice. He knows the ambitions that lurk in Megatron's spark, and they must never see the light of day. Lives must be kept free from the threat of Megatron's tyranny, no matter the cost.
The two personalities created a balance; Prime was fair while Megatron was firm. Movie Prequel issue 1 When Protector Megatron toured the excavation site near the temple at Simfur, he and Optimus clashed over several issues. While Optimus wanted to take the investigation slowly, all Megatron cared about was whether the site contained power similar to the All Spark. Optimus nettled Megatron when he reminded the Protector that the science sector was in charge of scientific and archaeological discoveries, and that the defense forces had a tendency to treat such discoveries as hostile, to which Megatron responded that if and when he was leader, he could make such decisions. When a mysterious relic was uncovered, Optimus disagreed with Megatron's order for it to be removed from the ground. Just as the two were about to launch into yet another argument, aliens previously encountered by Commander Starscream attacked Cybertron. Megatron blackmailed Optimus into moving the relic into his personal quarters by reminding the science leader that the science division would like to protect the only intact relic from harm. Defiance issue 1

Optimus ordered his science teams to help the survivors on both sides, in the hopes of finding out who was responsible and why they attacked. While he went off to find Megatron, he ordered the others to continue searching for survivors while Arcee examined the alien remains. Optimus was shocked and appalled when Megatron ordered him to marshal his forces for war. Optimus objected, as his science division was not trained for combat, but Megatron retorted that the scientists should have known that aliens were after the All Spark. He endured Megatron's insane fury when he accused the Protector of betraying that upon which their society was built. Later, Optimus called upon a meeting with his science division to ask them to stay by his side and continue on with their mission of peaceful research, as they were protectors, not soldiers. While the aerial-based Cybertronians followed Megatron into space, Optimus confided in Prowl and Jazz that Megatron sought to divide their planet, and he asked the former for help breaking into the High Protector's personal quarters. Defiance issue 2
After noting that Megatron had restored the artifact to pristine condition, Optimus had to leave the military leader's quarters just before he returned. Back at Burthov, he came upon Ratchet, Arcee, and Elita-One scanning the pieces of the other artifacts. Arcee then discovered that the pieces all contained the same symbol on them, and that the same symbol was on Optimus' head. Ratchet declared that the symbol was proof of the Dynasty of Primes, and it indicated Optimus himself was a Prime. Ratchet and the other Autobots began to dub him "Optimus Prime", although a humble Optimus noted they did not know what it meant and for all they knew, he could just be from a line of record clerks. As they discussed the revelations, Prowl was forced by Megatron to arrest Optimus, but this turned out to be a trap to kill him. Optimus bested Starscream, while Megatron formed his new faction, the Decepticons. Defiance issue 3

Retreating to Burthov with his fellow scientists and Prowl's security officers, Optimus was acknowledged as the leader of the group, with Prowl serving as his lieutenant. He and Prowl were discussing sites for a new base when Jazz informed them that Captain Ironhide of the Defense Force wanted to see Optimus. Learning of Megatron's new starship, the Nemesis, Optimus Prime was convinced by his advisers that their side needed a ship of their own to prepare for any eventualities. The Autobots found themselves at an advantage when the Nemesis left Cybertron with the balance of the Decepticon forces, and Optimus himself took the fight to their enemies. However, years of bloody war devastated the planet, and Optimus saw no end in sight, unless the main reason for fighting was removed from the conflict. He revealed his plan to capture the All Spark, and most assumed the Autobots would somehow take it aboard their ship. But Optimus's real plan was to blast the Cube into deep space, away from Cybertron and away from Megatron. Defiance issue 4
The All Spark was successfully ejected into space at Tyger Pax, where Bumblebee distracted Megatron. Prowl disagreed, pointing out that had Megatron been able to claim the Cube, all those that opposed him would have been destroyed, and that Prime had turned death into a fighting chance for the Autobots. Bolstered by Prowl's words, Prime resolved to rebuild their shattered home once they retrieved the All Spark. The Reign of Starscream Issue Number One
Almost immediately after the final battle against Megatron, Optimus Prime had to lead the Autobots against a horde of zombie Decepticons. Despite having no idea how they could be stopped and having had his power drained by fighting Megatron, Optimus continued to fight the monsters rather than let them run amok. In the alternate reality, Megatron defeated Optimus and took the All Spark at Mission City. Prime's body was now partially frozen and in Decepticon hands. He became resigned to the fact that Humanity, battered by Decepticon occupation, would view both Autobot and Decepticon as hostile invaders. When NATO was manipulated into attacking the Autobots, Optimus refused to allow his men to return fire, and after the crisis passed, he was sure that the Decepticons' unknown new commander was up to something bigger. Optimus also placed the last All Spark fragment in the care of Ratchet, though he was worried exposure to Megatron might have corrupted it. Transformers Comic issue 14 Transformers Comic issue 15 He was not happy when Ratchet "took care" of the fragment by bringing Jazz back with it, who was left corrupted and amoral by it. Transformers Comic issue 16

Optimus Prime soon worked out that while the All Spark's transformation of Earth had been halted, the damage had been done: the organic Earth and the technological transformation were now fighting for supremacy, killing the planet in the process. He called in a specialist team to investigate and limit the damage, while working with President Allen. In secret, he organised for Nucleon to be retrieved from the dead Cybertron and brought to Earth, as there was a long shot it could save the planet. He didn't tell the humans out of concern that if they knew about the plan and it failed, their hopes would be raised and dashed. Transformers Comic issue 17 It was bad enough that Nucleon was so unstable it could turn destructive... Transformers Comic issue 18
When the team on Cybertron sent a distress signal and reported Stockade's Decepticons had captured the Nucleon, Optimus led the entirety of the Earth-bound Autobots (save Camshaft's team) to Cybertron as back-up. His plan was to drain the Nucleon away so Unicron couldn't use it as a power source, while the bulk of the Transformers provided a distraction, which turned out to be going underground and shooting up Unicron's body. The plan worked, Nucleon was secured for Earth, and Optimus extended an offer for Stockade to join them on Earth whenever he wished. Optimus was left optimistic that Autobots and Decepticons had come together in a common cause. Transformers Comic issue 20

On returning to Earth, he found the Decepticons had seized the Autobot base and six hundred square miles around it; he made the decision to withdraw to Washington, D.C., knowing that this meant leaving Mikaela in Decepticon hands. Upon landing at an air base, the Decepticon-controlled President Allen lured him into a trap, and he found himself fighting Jazz, now a Decepticon hired gun. Optimus lured him away from humans and prepared to engage him, but when a second assassin named Kullt turned up, Jazz gunned it down out of annoyance. Optimus had viewed Jazz as a lost cause but now stated there was still some Autobot in him: he could have let Kullt do the work for him and then killed him, but he saved Prime instead.
As he'd promised Bumblebee, Optimus took the Autobots to get Mikaela back; he himself went first, launching himself in protoform mode to land in Savannah like a bomb and tearing his way through drone hordes. Almost two weeks before, he'd had Ironhide task Tom Banachek to identify all the Decepticon puppets for him. To protect the Earth while they were undercover on Cybertron, Optimus had made a deal with Stockade to start a Decepticon Civil War. ===Ghosts of Yesterday prequel novel===
Optimus Prime led the search for the All Spark in the Ark, a transport vessel. When they came across an abandoned solar system, they located a vessel of strangely Cybertronian design, seemingly of Decepticon make. When the vessel fled to the surface of a planet, Prime dispatched Bumblebee to investigate while he and the other Autobots battled Decepticons from the Nemesis. Prime managed to defeat Blackout, Scorponok, and Frenzy all on his own. After losing touch with Bumblebee, Prime went down to locate him on the planet, where they were attacked by Starscream and the alien ship. They fell into a cavern network, where they were further attacked by indigenous worms.

During their flight from the creatures, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee came across the alien vessel. Prime realized that they were trying to surrender, so the Autobots communicated with its crew. Optimus explained that they came in peace, "freedom is the right of all sentient beings," Starscream tricks everyone, and so on. However, the creatures, who called themselves "humans", explained that they held Megatron, whom they called the Ice Man, on their home world, Earth. Realizing the destruction Megatron would wreak upon the humans if he escaped, and that the humans would be unable to defend themselves effectively, Prime vowed to see them return to their world to warn it. Prime was able to blast an opening in the cavern, and the group escaped. As they returned to the Ark, Prime began to speculate that the All Spark was what drew Megatron to Earth.

In the ensuing battle with the Decepticons, Prime was in the difficult position of fighting Starscream and protecting the human ship. His distractions allowed Bonecrusher to spear him with his tail. The difficult state nearly gave Starscream the chance to kill him, but the humans saved Prime's life by damaging Starscream, who destroyed them. Optimus Prime was inspired by their courage and sacrifice, and resolved to locate Earth before the Decepticons did—and hopefully before Megatron came back online. Ghosts of Yesterday
The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, came to Earth shortly after Bumblebee sent his comrades a beacon. Upon atmospheric reentry, Prime managed to land outside of Tranquility's inhabited areas. While Sam and Mikaela watched, Optimus transformed and fled his landing place. From atop a hill, he quickly scanned the form of an Earth truck, thus configuring his body to transform into it. Prime, Jazz, Ratchet, and Ironhide met up with Bumblebee and his human friends, Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes in an alley. In one of the most extended transformations in the multiverse, Prime assumed his robotic form before the stunned humans. After confirming Sam's identity, Prime introduced himself and his team. When Mikaela asked of the Autobots' intentions, Prime explained the search for the All Spark, the betrayal of Megatron, and why Sam was important to their search.

Glasses that belonged to Sam's ancestor, Captain Archibald Witwicky, contained the location of the All Spark encoded across its lenses, so Optimus Prime ordered his troops to wait outside Sam's house while Sam and Mikaela searched inside for the glasses. Much to Sam's exasperation, Optimus Prime, in his impatience, clumsily ruined his parents' garden, and the Autobots' heavy footsteps convinced them there was an earthquake. Prime's attempts to hide, such as having the Autobots transform into vehicle mode right in the backyard, were also less than satisfactory. Ultimately, Sam came so close to a panic attack that Prime was forced to order the Autobots to fall back. As Prime lectured his team on their supposed inability to remain quiet, Ratchet got himself shocked by walking into some powerlines, causing further problems. When the parents came to investigate, Prime's attempt to avoid discovery caused the house to shake, though this was to their benefit, as the father assumed that the damage to the yard was the result of an earthquake. Ironhide suggested that they kill the parents, but Optimus scolded his old friend. Despite all this, their presence remained undetected until Sector Seven arrived (in a convoy of GMC Yukons) and abducted Sam, Mikaela, and Sam's parents.

Optimus Prime sent the Autobots in pursuit of the SUV that contained Sam, Mikaela, and Sector Seven's director, Agent Simmons. Prime intercepted the vehicle carrying their young human friends, ripping the roof of the vehicle off, with the other Autobots disarming the agents, and made it perfectly clear to Simmons how pissed off he was at him for trying to apprehend the two children, regarding this as a bad move on Simmons' behalf. Optimus then ordered his comrades to relieve the agents of their weapons, and attempted to interrogate Simmons. The agents' lack of surprise at their appearance indicated that they had seen Cybertronians before, but Simmons refused to reveal any information. With a Sector Seven backup team en route, Prime ordered the Autobots to scatter, while he took Sam and Mikaela. While hiding under a bridge, Mikaela and Sam slipped and fell off Prime's shoulder. Bumblebee managed to catch them before impact, but was captured, and Sam and Mikaela recaptured, by the organization after their retreat. Now in possession of the glasses which could tell him the location of the All Spark, Optimus regretfully left Bumblebee in Sector Seven's hands, knowing that if they went after him, they would have to use deadly force.

After regrouping the next day, Prime used the glasses to locate the All Spark. Jazz again raised objections to leaving Bumblebee behind, but Prime remained firm in his belief of not harming the humans. Ironhide seemed okay with using deadly force, stating the humans were too violent, but Prime countered that when their time had come, the Cybertronians had been little different. Going on to explain the potential he saw in the humans, as well as reminding them that "freedom is the right of all sentient beings", Prime revealed to the Autobots his real plan for the All Spark: if they could not defeat the Decepticons, Prime intended to merge the Cube with his spark. Though this would destroy the All Spark, Ratchet cautioned Prime against this, as it would also kill him. Prime believed that this was acceptable, vowing not to let another race suffer the mistakes of the Transformers. The glasses placed the All Spark at Hoover Dam where, luckily, Bumblebee and the young humans were taken.

Optimus Prime's team met up with Sector Seven, Bumblebee, Sam, and Mikaela en route, who had planned to hide the All Spark in nearby Mission City. While on the highway, he was attacked by Bonecrusher, who managed to tackle Optimus and drag him over the edge of a freeway overpass. During the battle, Optimus struck the rage-filled Transformer so hard his optic popped out. As the Decepticon swung his claw wildly, Optimus drew his sword from his right arm and sliced off one of Bonecrusher's arms, before brutally finishing off his enemy by driving the blade through Bonecrusher's neck, severing his head.

Optimus arrived at Mission City just in time to observe Megatron discarding the remains of Jazz, and challenged him. Millennia in the ice had done nothing to lessen Megatron's hatred of his brother, and he launched himself in jet mode at the Autobot leader. Optimus leaped and grabbed hold of the wings, which was a really bad idea, as Megatron drove himself and Prime through an office block. As they flew out of the building onto the street below, Megatron transformed and leapt on top of Prime, declaring the humans undeserving of life. Prime rejected his claims, saying that they deserved to choose for themselves. Megatron threw Prime across the street, declaring that if he wished to defend the humans, Prime could die with them. He then formed his fusion cannon from his forearms. The power up time allowed Prime to draw his ion blaster and fire, hitting Megatron. The Decepticon used the momentum to spin around, then used the fusion cannon to blast Prime across the street into another building. Megatron then resumed the hunt for Sam and the All Spark.

Tracking Megatron to the deserted building, Prime barely managed to catch Sam after Megatron knocked him off the roof. Telling the boy to hold onto the Cube, Prime attempted to scale down the building, but Megatron jumped on Prime, causing them both to fall down hard onto the street below. Sam survived, however, and Optimus told the boy that if he could not defeat Megatron, Sam must put the All Spark into his chest which would destroy it. As Sam sought cover, Optimus faced down Megatron, and informed him that, "At the end of this day, one shall stand, one shall fall". Unfortunately, Megatron, even after years of stasis, proved to be far too powerful for Prime to defeat alone. The unit led by Lennox and the Raptor squadron laid down suppressing fire as Megatron reached for the All Spark, until Optimus finally took him down by sweeping his legs. Still, Megatron continued, crawling toward the cube. Believing he had lost, Optimus implored Sam to put the All Spark into his chest. Sam instead thrust it into Megatron's chest, killing the Decepticon leader and destroying the All Spark.

As Optimus watched his brother die, he regretfully said there was little other choice. He also told Sam he owed him a debt of gratitude for saving his life, but was then informed that Jazz had not survived (Jazz was flapping around disrespectfully like a ragdoll during this sequence). Prime briefly eulogized his comrade, then commented that they had gained new comrades in the humans, and was honored by their bravery. Bumblebee, who had finally regained his voice, requested permission to remain with Sam Witwicky, to which the young human eagerly agreed, and Optimus approved. He noticed a fragment of the All Spark in Megatron's chest cavity and removed it, then permitted the humans to dispose of the Decepticon corpses by dumping them into the deepest part of the ocean.

Though Megatron was killed and his Decepticons were defeated, the All Spark was destroyed, leaving the Autobots unable to restore Cybertron. The Autobots elected to remain on Earth, and Prime sent a message into deep space to any surviving Autobots in the Galaxy to come to their new home on Earth, their long years of searching having finally having come to an end. As the other Autobots rested (and watched Sam and Mikaela make out on Bumblebee's hood) Optimus Prime looked to the sky, hoping his message had been heard. Transformers (2007)
Following the battle of Mission City, and the destruction of Megatron and the All Spark, Optimus Prime was left to ferry the body of his first lieutenant Jazz out of the city in an abandoned trailer. Trusting Captain Lennox and his men, Prime asked the human soldiers to help the Autobots escape from the city, before Sector Seven and other untrustworthy humans could arrive. A month later, Agent Simmons managed to convince Lennox and Sergeant Epps to call upon the assistance of Optimus Prime and the Autobots to escort the Decepticon remains, thereby hopefully reactivating the Decepticon Wreckage somehow. Alliance issue 1

Optimus, Ironhide, Ratchet and Bumblebee arrived at Sector Seven's Nevada desert base to escort to a naval base at San Diego, California. Optimus insisted on escorting Jazz's remains personally, and thanked Lennox for arranging a proper burial-at-sea for his fallen lieutenant. When he noticed the All Spark shard seemingly reacting to the Decepticon bodies, he handed the fragment to Professor Vine for safekeeping until he returned. Shortly after leaving the base, Optimus had second thoughts about leaving the fragment in Sector Seven's possession, and ordered Bumblebee and Ironhide to turn around and retrieve the only remaining piece of the All Spark. Alliance issue 2

The convoy returned to the Sector Seven base after learning of Wreckage and Starscream's attacks. Salani retrieved the All Spark shard and returned it to Optimus Prime, who felt the last piece of their heritage should stay with him. Weeks later, the Autobots and the soldiers with whom they served traveled aboard a US Navy carrier for Jazz's burial-at-sea and to observe the disposal of the Decepticons. Optimus deeply appreciated the humans' paying last respects to their fallen comrade, though he was concerned that even the great depths of the Laurentian Abyss were not enough to keep the Decepticon bodies hidden. Below deck, Optimus and Lennox agreed to a formal alliance between the Autobots and humans as the first line of offense and defense against the Decepticons. During training on the island of Diego Garcia, Optimus Prime reminded the Autobots that they must work together with the humans as a team, never forgetting that division was what caused the war on Cybertron in the first place. When they were alone, Optimus Prime and Major Lennox complimented each other's leadership and the dedication of their respective troops. When Lennox commented that it was because of the Autobots that he and his soldiers were alive today, Optimus refuted this, saying it was because of humans such as Lennox and Sam, and that the Autobots were only part of the problem. Soon, both NEST leaders learned that the Decepticons had returned to Earth. Alliance issue 3
NEST was deployed to San Francisco, where the Decepticons Swindle and Dead End were wreaking havoc. Flushed out of hiding, the Decepticons managed to evade the other Autobots, but Optimus Prime quickly put down Dead End by ramming him head-on. When asked by Prime, he commented that he was fine, but he wasn't sure if Dead End was. On the way back to base, Lennox and Optimus Prime discussed Swindle's last words and were concerned that this was just the first wave of Decepticons coming to Earth, and that they were after Sam Witwicky. Optimus convinced Lennox that no matter what, it was Sam's destiny to become involved in this conflict, and they agreed to send Bumblebee back to the States to resume his role as the boy's guardian. Later, when Optimus observed the distrust for the Autobots held by Lennox's superiors, he suggested that they must work harder and that continued success would satisfy those above them. During the subsequent hunt for Decepticons around the world, Optimus Prime personally destroyed Jetstorm, Dropkick and Incinerator. As NEST's ranks grew, together they celebrated their victories and mourned those who made the ultimate sacrifice. One event brought joy and hope to the team: The arrival of Autobot refugees who were eager to protect their new homeworld. This joy was tempered by the fact more and more Decepticons were being sighted on Earth, and Optimus believed that there was some unknown that threatened their new home, their species and their alliance with the humans. Alliance issue 4
When Sideways landed on the continent, the two Autobots interrupted their mission to bring the bot in. It proved far more difficult than you'd expect, with the Decepticon able to outdistance them in the long run and better suited to the terrain. Optimus was knocked offroad when Sideways blasted him with exhaust, and Arcee reported her alt mode was too out of its comfort zone to keep up... which gave Optimus an idea.

That idea was to take away the terrain, blasting Sideways off the road and into the grass with projectile weaponry. Violence works!
After the events in Mission City two years ago, Optimus Prime and the Autobots became part of a Transformer/human military group called NEST, which hunted down the remaining Decepticons across the world. When Demolishor and Sideways were detected in Shanghai, NEST was deployed there, including the Autobots Sideswipe, Ironhide, Arcee, Skids and Mudflap. Once Demolishor made himself known by transforming into robot mode and crushing dozens of cars along the highway, Sergeant Epps radioed an overhead C-17 to release the Autobot leader. Optimus Prime parachuted out of a NEST cargo plane and landed in vehicle mode. He leapt off a bridge onto the Decepticon's head as he plowed through it. When the massive Constructicon refused his order to pull over, Optimus unleashed several blasts of his ion blaster into Demolishor's head. These shots, coupled with Ironhide destroying his tires, sent the titan crashing to the ground and into a warehouse. As he and Ironhide approached the dying Decepticon, Optimus asked if he had any last words. With his dying breath, the Constructicon stated that The Fallen would rise again. Optimus responded in the negative and unceremoniously executed him.

Returning to Diego Garcia, Prime entered a briefing with Theodore Galloway, the National Security Adviser who had been appointed liaison by the President, and General Morshower, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was watching by satellite feed. Prime relayed the warning of The Fallen to them, but Galloway made no effort to conceal his hostility toward the Autobots. He noted that while they had given them intelligence and the sole remaining All Spark fragment, Galloway took issue with their refusal to share weapons technology and their continued sending of transmissions into space. Prime told Galloway that the Autobots were aware of humanity's history of warfare, and Morshower said that all the transmissions had been vetted by NEST officers. Galloway also pointed out that despite Megatron's death and burial in the Laurentian Abyss and the destruction of the All Spark, the Decepticons had not left Earth as Optimus had hoped, leading him to conclude that the Autobots were the ones who the Decepticons were after. When asked if the Autobots would leave Earth peacefully if told to, Optimus replied that they would honor their request, but warned Galloway to consider what would happen if the Autobots left but the Decepticons did not.

Unknown to Prime, the Decepticon Soundwave had been monitoring transmissions and spied on the briefing. Dispatching Ravage to the island, he had his agent steal the remaining All Spark fragment, killing several soldiers in the process. The incident left the Autobots with rather chilly relations with the United States. Seeking outside help, Optimus dispatched Bumblebee to retrieve Sam Witwicky from college in an effort to secure his testimony on the Autobots' behalf. Meeting Sam at an abandoned cemetery near his college, Optimus explained the situation. Sam was not receptive; in fact, he was quite hostile, saying that he had just started college and was trying to have a normal life. Knowing that fate often called at inconvenient times, Optimus impressed upon Sam the importance of what was going on, but Sam reiterated that the Cybertronian War was not his, and that they didn't need him. Optimus relayed his fear that it soon would be, and silently said that they needed him more than he realized.

Prime's fear soon came to pass, but in the last way he could imagine: the Decepticons had used the All Spark shard to resurrect Megatron, who had learned that the knowledge of the All Spark had been passed to Sam by a fragment Sam had touched, and soon captured him, Mikaela, and Sam's college roommate Leo Spitz. Heading to rescue the three humans, Optimus and Bumblebee ambushed the Decepticons in the abandoned industrial complex where the teens were being held, just as Scalpel was about to perform fatal neurosurgery on Sam. Knocking Megatron and Starscream out of the building, Optimus managed to whisk Sam away from the plant. Optimus made it as far as the nearby forest when Megatron arrived. Going one-on-one with the Decepticon leader, Prime managed to hold his own, all the while trashing talking Megatron. Megatron then called for Starscream and Grindor, who quickly arrived. Prime was forced to run interference between Megatron and Starscream, who pursued Sam.

As the battle raged, Megatron told Prime that the boy was the key to finding another energon source, then shattered his mouthplate and sent him flying back with a point blank shot from his fusion cannon. Megatron asked if the boy's life was greater than the future of their race, but Prime knew that he would never stop with a single life. Declaring that he'd take them all on, Optimus Prime unsheathed his Dual Energon Swords and fought a three-on-one fight against the Decepticons. Surprisingly, not only did he manage to hold his own, he was actually winning, managing to stab Megatron multiple times, slice off Starscream's arm and use it as a club, and rip apart Grindor's head. However, Megatron managed to stab his own sword through Optimus Prime's chest, following with a point blank shot through his injured back. Critically injured, Optimus implored the still-observing Sam to run. Although the rest of the Autobots soon arrived and drove off Megatron and Starscream, Optimus Prime was dead.

Soon after, The Fallen made his presence known and demanded Sam Witwicky be turned over to him or the world would be destroyed. Galloway used this as a reason to shut down NEST and ordered the Autobots returned to Diego Garcia under guard, along with Prime's corpse (which Galloway callously denounced as a piece of scrap metal). Fortunately, Bumblebee, and the Twins managed to spirit Sam, Mikaela, and Leo away before The Fallen made his announcement. With help from their former enemy Seymour Simmons and the Decepticon-turned-Autobot Wheelie, the group discovered that Sam's mind contained the Language of the Primes, to which group The Fallen had once belonged. The human/Autobot group managed to locate the Seeker Jetfire, who told them of how the Dynasty of Primes forged a solar harvester to use a star's energy to replenish the All Spark, and the Matrix of Leadership, needed to activate the harvester, until they were betrayed by The Fallen, who tried to harvest Sol in defiance of the Primes' rule of the sanctity of life. Sam hit upon the idea to use the Matrix to restore Optimus to life, similar to how the Decepticons had used the All Spark fragment to resurrect Megatron. Having been teleported to Egypt by Jetfire, the group managed to relay the information to Major Lennox and Sergeant Epps, who faked engine trouble over Petra, where the Tomb of the Primes was located. Unfortunately, the Matrix had turned to dust in the thousands of years since its entombment, but Sam still believed that it could be used to revive Optimus.

However, the Decepticons were still looking for the harvester and the Matrix needed to activate it. Sam was technically killed in the battle, during which he communed with the six Primes from the tomb, who restored the Matrix. Jamming it in the fallen Autobot's chest, Sam used the Matrix to restore Optimus Prime to life. Unfortunately, The Fallen soon arrived and stole the Matrix. Having been fatally injured by Scorponok, Jetfire offered his parts to Optimus, as only a Prime could defeat The Fallen, and snuffed out his own spark. After Ratchet and Jolt finished attaching Jetfire's wings and thrusters to Prime's body, Optimus hurried to the Great Pyramid of Giza, which had been constructed around the harvester, and damaged the machine before it could destroy Earth's sun.

Optimus Prime then faced Megatron and the Fallen. This against the odds battle went far better for Optimus, as he used Megatron's own fusion cannon to shoot off half his face and his afterburners to send him through some ruins. Optimus then battled the Fallen, using his Energon Sword to slice through his face. The Fallen countered by ripping off his left wing and striking him with it, but Optimus managed to grab the Fallen's own spear and impale him with it. Telling the traitorous Prime he had picked the wrong planet, Optimus used the spear to rip off The Fallen's face plate. As The Fallen tried to flee, Optimus Prime punched through his abdomen and crushed his spark core, killing The Fallen and forcing Megatron and Starscream to retreat.

On the return voyage home, Optimus thanked Sam for saving his life, as the boy thanked the Autobot leader for believing in him. Following this, Optimus Prime sent another transmission into space, detailing recent events so that the pasts of both races would be remembered, and also declaring that Humanity and the Autobots would face the future together. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
Optimus Prime provided intelligence and missions to Bumblebee in his search for the All Spark. Eventually, the clues led the Autobot to Sam Witwicky. After saving Sam from Barricade, Bumblebee finally completed preparations for the Autobots to arrive on Earth.

Once on Earth, and having informed the two teenagers of their mission, Prime and the Autobots were discovered by Sector Seven. Optimus sent Jazz on a high-speed <strike>destruction</strike> distraction mission, then sent Ironhide to rescue Jazz from a double-threat posed by the government agents and various Decepticon scouts.

When Bumblebee was captured, Optimus Prime transformed and chased the helicopter which from which the small Autobot was tied. After a lengthy pursuit, Optimus managed to catch the net, only to be thrown off by another Cybertronian [[transition form|meteor]. As Bumblebee was carried away, Optimus promised he would not fail him again. Jazz informed him that the meteor was not an Autobot and Optimus confronted the new threat, who turned out to be the Decepticon triplechanger Shockwave. The two battled it out across Tranquility before Optimus finally destroyed him, and in doing so, overheard Starscream's transmission revealing the location of the All Spark.

Optimus then returned to an intel role as he guided Bumblebee in his mission to retrieve the All Spark from Hoover Dam. Unfortunately, the Decepticons managed to free Megatron, leading to the final battle in Mission City.

As the Autobots engaged in an all-out urban war with the Decepticons to protect Sam and the All Spark, things seemed to take a turn for the worse as Megatron finally arrived. But before the Decepticon leader could claim the Cube, Optimus Prime attacked.

The two leaders duked it out until Megatron was finally on the ground, seemingly devoid of life. Optimus knelt to take the All Spark as Sam handed it to him, but Megatron suddenly awoke, leaping at the Autobot with his chain-flail out, and making one last attempt at defeating his adversary. Optimus grabbed the chain, pulling Megatron in closer, and with the All Spark clutched in his fist, delivered a punch through Megatron's spark. As Megatron died Optimus reflected on the losses and rewards of this battle, as the Autobots have a new home. Optimus planned to guard the humans in secret, "For freedom is the right of all sentient beings." Transformers The Game (console)
Optimus Prime served as the Autobots all around fighter. Weapons wise, he possessed Dual Laser Rifles and Dual Shell Cannons. In melee combat, he possessed Dual Energy Swords in each hand. Finally, with his valiant leader ability, he could generate a shield around himself which would prevent his energy from dropping past 1%.

After overseeing Ironhide's defeat of Sideways and Ratchet's rescue of Ironhide, Optimus Prime took to the field when a previously unknown Decepticon named Demolishor began attacking the Shanghai waterfront. Optimus was finally able to defeat him, but Demolishor gave a single warning before he was killed: "The Fallen shall rise again". Optimus and the Autobots were at a lost as to what he meant. Back in the United States, Sam Witwicky gave Mikaela Banes a fragment of the All Spark that he had discovered, which the Decepticons soon sought. Prime dispatched Bumblebee to rescue her. Following this, the Decepticons launched a raid on the city's oil refinery, where Ratchet rescued several engineers. Finally, Ironhide escorted a NEST team to safety in the city's canals.

Their victories were short lived. The Decepticons soon learned about the All Spark shard on Diego Garcia, stealing it to revive Megatron. Although Breakaway managed to save the fleet, Megatron was reborn. He soon made an attack on Sam, trying to access information in his mind downloaded from the All Spark. Bumblebee managed to rescue him. In light of these attacks, Optimus decided to give NEST the Axiom Gun to better defend themselves against the Decepticons. The escort came under Decepticon assault, but Prime was able to beat back the attackers and deliver the Axiom Gun to NEST. Soon afterwards, Bumblebee escorted Sam to meet with Seymour Simmons, who told him of Jetfire, who then took the boy to Egypt.

While there, Jetfire explained what was going on: Eons ago, Optimus's ancestors, the 13 founders of the Dynasty of Primes, built a solar harvester to convert the energy of the sun into Energon. When they discovered the humans, they upheld their rule of the sanctity of life, but one of the Primes defied the rule and murdered his twelve brothers. This Prime was known as The Fallen, but the solar harvester was hidden from him. While Sam made inquires to the Tomb of the Twelve, Megatron and Starscream arrived in an attempt to learn the harvester's location and kill Sam. Optimus Prime was able to defeat both Decepticons with Jetfire's help, but Jetfire was stabbed in the back by Megatron. Dying, Jetfire offered his parts to Optimus, as only a Prime could defeat The Fallen.

Finding the harvester at the Great Pyramid of Giza, Optimus challenged The Fallen. Despite The Fallen's powerful command of telekinesis and pyrokinesis, Optimus Prime was able to get past his defenses and kill The Fallen by stabbing through the face. On the return trip home, Sam expressed gratitude at seeing the sunrise, and told Optimus he would have to trust him on it. Optimus Prime replied that he had always trusted Sam, and always would. Revenge of the Fallen (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)

Decepticon campaign
When the revenant Megatron and the Decepticons rampaged across the United States of America, Optimus Prime faced him in a major city on the East Coast. The two leaders engaged in a titanic struggle that shook the city, but despite being aided by many Autobot drone units, Optimus was seemingly destroyed. However, much later, Optimus Prime reappeared when Megatron's master, The Fallen, activated the Solar Harvester to drain Earth's Sun. The Autobot leader revealed that The Fallen's promise to make Megatron a Prime was a lie, as Primes were born, not made. When Megatron demanded his reward, The Fallen reneged on his promise. As the master and disciple of evil began to fight, Optimus left to find a way to disable the Harvester. Revenge of the Fallen (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)

Commercial appearances
* As part of the hype buildup to the movie's release, Optimus Prime made a brief cameo at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, interacting with host Sarah Silverman. The scene spliced Silverman into pre-existing movie footage, but featured new dialogue recorded for the event by Peter Cullen. Prime heavily hinted that he wanted to present an award, but was rejected for a regular MTV fan.

* According to a tie-in advertisement for Burger King, Prime likes his Whoppers with no onions, no cheese, extra pickles, with a side of ????. However, due to a cruel twist of fate, he can never enjoy the sweet taste of beefy victory (and all because he needed a driver for him to receive his order). He saved the world from the Decepticons, and still he can't even have it his way? Where's the justice?

* Optimus Prime (in truck mode) made an appearance at 2007, alongside the Sector Seven Mobile Command Unit. He was available for pictures all weekend. He made a second appearance at 2009.

* Optimus threw a trailer during his appearance on an M&M's commercial.

* In 2009, Optimus appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman to declare the "Top Ten Things That Sound Cool When Said By A Giant Robot". Optimus said it was nice to be there, although David was clearly concerned by having an 28-feet tall robot in the studio because of a bad history of robots messing up the place, and during the presentation Letterman decided there was something about Prime he didn't like. Anyway, the top ten was:
<ol>
<li value="10">"Jergens lotion leaves my hands silky smooth."</li>
Trivia
* When Optimus' design was first revealed, many fans of the Generation 1 series objected to the flames seen on Prime's body. When asked in an interview why he put the flames on, Michael Bay claimed he liked them because it was "cool". It was later revealed on a special featurette on the DVD that the flames were added because, apparently, red is not very good to film on camera, so Bay chose a blue truck but used the flames so that when Optimus transformed, the layout would result in maintaining his iconic red chest.

* The announcement of Peter Cullen as Prime's voice actor in the movie is credited by some fans as alleviating many fan tensions about the movie. Not all tensions, mind you, as there are some who just will never be satisfied, but it put the fans in a good mood.

* TakaraTomy officially recognizes Optimus Prime's vehicle mode as a Kenworth W900 truck, even though the vehicle used for filming was a modified Peterbilt 379, a different model from a different brand, although both are made by the PACCAR company.

* Prime's truck mode is apparently intended to haul a flatbed trailer, based on the presence of the large silver "headache rack", a piece of optional equipment that protects the driver in case a flatbed load breaks free during braking. It is generally not installed on trucks hauling enclosed container trailers.

* Despite this, the one time that Prime has been seen with a trailer, it's an enclosed trailer (with a design based on Generation 1 Optimus Prime's Combat Deck), commandeered by the Autobots for use as Jazz's coffin after the battle of Mission City in IDW Publishing's Alliance comic book series.

* When Optimus Prime scans a truck for his new body, the passing truck has what appears to be an Autobot sigil on its grill, but the actual truck that Prime turns into at the end of the scene has a much wider, flatter symbol on the grill, which looks rather more like that of Peterbilt. Then, Prime has an Autobot sigil on his grill while driving to meet the other Autobots.

* According to the free trading cards from the Boston Globe, Optimus is 28 feet tall, weighs 4.3 metric tons, and his primary weapon is an ion blaster. (Considering Optimus's height, however, this weight would seem implausible.)

* In the Japanese dub of the movie, he is given his original western name of Optimus Prime rather than the Japanese equivalent, Convoy. Just as Peter Cullen voiced Prime in the English version of the film, Tesshō Genda (the voice of G1 Convoy) reprised his role for the Japanese dub.

* The Optimus Prime computer generated model consisted of 10,108 individual parts, 1,830,898 polygons, 27,744 rig nodes, and 2336 texture maps. The volume of all pieces combined came to 5445 cubic feet.

* It said in the Autobots game in the DS, Prime's father was killed by Megatron. However, since it is also widely known that Prime and Megatron were brothers, Megatron killed his own dad. Not that this is surprising, though.

* In Titan Magazines Transformers comics, Optimus's Cybertronian robot mode is exactly like his Earth mode, but with different weapons, yet his Cybertronian mode is a mostly silver protoform—with no truck windows. Odd.

* Optimus was supposed to combine with a trailer for Revenge of the Fallen, something for which Ben Procter and Josh Nizzi drew up designs. In the end, Nizzi designed the combination with Jetfire.

* This incarnation of Optimus Prime doesn't do the best burials in the world, either—giving what can at best be described as a half-hearted goodbye to his first lieutenant at the end of the first movie, and unceremoniously dumping the parts of the converted Decepticon who had given him the power to defeat the Fallen at the conclusion of the second film. This is offset by how he's treated by humans when he dies.

* Of the Optimus Primes in all the existing continuities, this one is probably the most aggressive incarnation. Additionally, he seems obsessed with destroying the heads of his opponents. In Transformers, Prime decapitates Bonecrusher and tries pulling off Megatron's head. In Revenge of The Fallen, Optimus severely damages Demolishor's head before putting the lethal bullet in it, he tries pulling off Starscream's head with his foot, rips apart Grindor's head with hooks, shoots off part of Megatron's face, and rips off The Fallen's face before killing him. (He also slices or tears off Megatron, Starscream and Grindor's arms in the second film, but this was not immortalized with a classic one liner.) Maybe he took Jazz's death hard after all?
Blackarachnia is finally able to revive Silverbolt, but he doesn't seem too happy about it.

:Japanese title: 野獣の恩返し (Yajū no Ongaeshi, "The Beast's Gratitude")

Synopsis
As the big floating head, Megatron's newest body, drifts overhead, Nightscream searches through a derelict region of Cybertron for his former friend, the organic Savage/Noble. However, his search is cut short by Jetstorm and Thrust.

Back at the Maximal base, Rattrap talks to Blackarachnia about his newest invention, combining a spark extractor with a DNA scanner. This process, he hopes, could someday be used to restore any of the captured sparks they recover into Transformer bodies. Optimus Primal and Cheetor arrive, wondering what's happened to Nightscream. Nobody has seen him for a while, so the team head aboveground to find out where he's gone. However, Blackarachnia has a lingering fascination with Rattrap's new device.

The Maximals find Nightscream surrounded by a back of cycle drones and other Vehicons. A fight to rescue their young member begins. Cheetor uses his blades to glide through the air, fighting the Sonic Attack Jets all the while. Rattrap outraces several more cycle drones. Cooking up her own plot, Blackarachnia places Rattrap's device on Jetstorm, hoping to free his spark and reformat him.

Megatron, in his gigantic head, uses his gravity beams to capture Optimus and Cheetor, ending the conflict quickly. Nightscream is left behind, at the mercy of Thrust. Luckily, he is protected by Savage/Noble, who uses both of his tails to damage Thrust. Rattrap sees the strange dragon haul Nightscream's unconscious body away and, suspecting Savage intends to consume the younger Maximal, follows.

Blackarachnia leads Jetstorm deeper underground. The jet crashes through one of her webs and into a pool of organic fluid. With the general restrained, the DNA scanner Blackarachnia placed onto him activates and begins to detect local fossils. The scanner passes by several other bones before locking onto a suitable candidate: a skeleton of a prehistoric, condor-like creature. After a painful metamorphosis, the Vehicon once known as Jetstorm is destroyed, and the Maximal Silverbolt is reborn. He becomes aware of himself and is surprised by his new, technorganic form. Shocked, disgruntled, and angry, he flies out of the cave in which he was brought back, leaving a confused Blackarachnia behind.

Confronting the renegade Maximal atop a skyscraper, Blackarachnia discovers a change in her lover. Instead of the corny, phrase-spouting 'bot of prehistoric Earth, this new, angry Silverbolt loathes himself. Blackarachnia tries to remind the Maximal of the heroic personality he used to be, but Silverbolt (who is no longer silver) no longer has any connection to those ideals that once defined him. He comes along with Blackarachnia on a trip to rescue Optimus Primal and Cheetor not out of concern for his Maximal pals, but only as a way to confront his former master, Megatron.

Nightscream awakens in an abandoned warehouse, now serving as Savage/Noble's "den". The creature, in his "Noble" form, provides a metallic apple for Nightscream to feed on. Noble has lost his former mental skills, but still seems to like Nightscream and remember him. Rattrap tries to rescue Nightscream quietly but catches Noble's attention. Confused, Noble shifts into his Savage form, causing Nightscream and Rattrap to cheese it.

Inside of the Grand Mal, Cheetor and Optimus are interrogated for information on the Oracle and how Megatron can use it to manipulate the Sparks he holds captive. Blackarachnia and Nightscream arrive in the same chamber, where Megatron manifests an image of himself, a hologram of the Grand Mal made out of floating masses of data. He explains why he selected Silverbolt's spark to be made into a new general: He believed Silverbolt's sense of honor would let him stay true to Megatron's Vehicon ideology. Blackarachnia argues, hoping Silverbolt understands that friendship and love are more important.

Silverbolt rejects Megatron's dogma and transforms into his new robot mode. His throwing blades heavily damage Megatron's insides. Freed, Primal orders a retreat, but Silverbolt feels it would be better to fight and die. Blackarachnia uses one of her abilities to stun him so she can drag him out.

Rattrap and Nightscream are still running from Savage when they find Thrust and his drones standing in their way. The Maximals let Savage take care of the drones, while Silverbolt tosses away Thrust into the water. Primal welcomes Silverbolt back into the Maximals, but the bird just leaves the Maximals, not yet ready to be part of the team. Nightscream argues that Savage/Noble still has the qualities of a good guy inside of him, and Primal decides that the best thing to do is to wait.

That morning, sitting on a skyscraper, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt have another discussion, in which he reveals how he enjoyed being a Vehicon, without having to follow his code of honor. Despite this, Blackarachnia is still ready to reach out to him, and together they return to the Maximals.
Notes
Animation or technical errors
* The fossil scanned by Silverbolt is clearly a bat, not a condor, and is a reuse of the CGI model of the fossil Nightscream found in "Survivor".
Trivia
* Vehicons are a superstitious and cowardly lot.
* Silverbolt's beast mode came out the way it did because there happened to be some condor fossils nearby when he was being reformatted. So as far as the story goes, it's pretty coincidental that he had bird attributes in his alt mode during the Beast Wars. And it's also a coincidence that Noble looks so wolf-ish. All right.
* Also, seeing as how Silverbolt looks virtually nothing like his previous form, it seems somewhat odd that Rattrap would instantly recognise him without being introduced.
* Regrettably, this episode has nothing to do with Green Lantern. Or Batman.
* Remember how in "Revelations Part III: Apocalypse", Optimus said that changing Rhinox against his will is no better than Megatron? Well, either Blackarachnia doesn't remember or it's okay when Jetstorm/Silverbolt has a new toy out.
* This is one of only two episodes in the entire series to feature sunlight. Every other episode happens entirely at night. Wouldn't it be awesome if they did Ben 10 that way?
:Holi is an Autobot in the Victory era of the Generation 1 continuity family.
As a leader material, Holi (ホーリー Hōrī) isn't exactly cut from the right cloth. He's young, but so is the rest of the Rescue Patrol Team, and though he is the most mature of them all, that isn't saying much. Holi likes to hang out with Star Saber's human son, Jean, in his spare time. While a goof-off most of the time, when there’s trouble he's quick to act. He is a fast-thinker and a resourceful one at that. He misses his home planet of Micro greatly, mostly due to the fact that his girlfriend is there (something the rest of the Rescue Patrol enjoys riding him on).

:English-Malay dub name: Fixit
Fiction
Victory cartoon
:Voice actor: Kyōko Tongū (Japanese)

Holi spent much of his time hanging around with Jean – possibly more than is healthy – but they shared a close friendship somewhat like that of Daniel and Wheelie (albeit with a dash more antagonism at times). He was smarter than he seemed, as he apparently built Jean's hover-pod, without which the kid couldn't get around Autobot bases half as quickly as he did. He also showed pretty serious guts for such a tiny fellow; it took a certain kind of spunk to try a flying pounce on Leozack. Too bad he forgot about Leozack's little buddy.

Just when it seemed Holi's only purpose on Earth was to babysit Jean and occasionally take part in a skirmish, he got outed. He wasn't just any Micromaster—he was none other than the leader of the Rescue Patrol Team! Though a bit scatterbrained in his early approach, he quickly proved he was no slouch when it counted and led his team on a successful operation the very day they finally showed up. Move Out! Rescue Team

Following the destruction of Deathsaurus's asteroid plant, Star Saber was called on to take care of some problems on Micro. Apparently, Ginrai was more than a little busy elsewhere in the sector. The Rescue Patrol Team went along. Planet Micro - The Mysterious Warrior

After Blue Bacchus and Black Shadow were taken care of, Leozack and crew showed up looking to bust their pal Gaihawk out of his prison on Micro's moon. Even with the ex-mercenary Greatshot helping them out (to Holi's initial dismay), the Autobots couldn't stop Gaihawk's release by Hellbat. With the prison falling down around them and a rather large lava pit beneath them, Holi looked on in bemusement as Greatshot attempted to sway his former colleague to the Autobot side. Gaihawk wasn't having it and blasted the Six Changer, who tumbled into the lava pit, then made good his escape with the rest of the Breastforce close behind. Holi then proved himself not only a true Autobot by staying to pull Greatshot from the pit, but ridiculously strong for a Micromaster while he was at it. The only thing that stopped him from pulling Greatshot from the pit unassisted was the ground giving way under his feet. Luckily, Star Saber arrived just in time to save them both from gravity's merciless clutches. Rescue! Gaihawk

Holi then naturally took the opportunity to visit his girlfriend, despite the good-natured ribbing his teammates gave him about it. After all, what self-respecting bot wouldn't pay a visit to his girl with a cadre of powerful Decepticon warriors on the loose? Holi was rewarded for his thoughtfulness when he and Clipper, out for a drive and a little bit of catch-up after his long absence from Micro, stumbled upon an argument between Hellbat and Deathcobra. The loving couple were subsequently witness to Deathcobra's murder and given the blame by a panicking Hellbat, who ran off and told his tale to the rest of the Breastforce. For some reason, they bought the story and stormed off to take revenge for their fallen comrade. On the Micromasters who killed him.

On MICROMASTERS, people. The pair were still conveniently at the scene and would have been scrap had it not been for the timely intervention of Star Saber. Unite! Liokaiser
* In the Victory anime, Holi and Boater (who are gang-molded) were consistently drawn and colored as if their black plastic parts had instead been produced in white. In Zone, however, Holi was colored to match his toy.

* Nobody is really sure what his name means. One possible explanation is that it's based on police; the Japanese characters for po and ho are similar, differing only in the presence of a circle.
Slingshot is a loud-mouthed, bragging jerk. Many believe that his annoying, self-aggrandizing, and abrasive personality is a cover
for his insecurities over being the smallest and weakest Aerialbot. Just as many couldn't care less and just wish he would shut up, and/or go away.

Slingshot was created from an old carrier drone along with the rest of the Aerialbots by the Autobots as Optimus Prime's answer to the newly created Stunticons. However, Slingshot quickly made it clear that he didn't care for Earth, the humans, or the other Autobots, and he certainly had no respect for his new commander, Silverbolt, whose fear of heights caused him to abandon Slingshot when Motormaster attacked him. Ironhide threatened to install some humility programming into Slingshot via his fists on more than one occasion. However, Silverbolt was able to convince Slingshot and the other Aerialbots of the noble natures of the Autobots and humans. Slingshot even saved Silverbolt after the latter destroyed the Key to Vector Sigma. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

Slingshot was once a major fanboy of Starscream and the other Decepticon jets, and believed Megatron would be a real swell guy to have as a friend. He changed his mind while in Cybertron's past, after seeing Megatron casually destroy the young Orion Pax. After that, he declared that Megatron will never be able to run from the Aerialbots, and they won't stop hounding him until he is finished. Man, he is such a bandwagon jumper. War Dawn

Soon afterward, the Aerialbots helped spray Corrostop on the Statue of Liberty. When Perceptor was kidnapped by the Stunticons and Blitzwing, Slingshot led the pursuit, only for Air Raid and Fireflight to be zapped by Megatron's Lightning Bug. Later, when the Decepticons tried to destroy Lady Liberty to prevent the Autobots from mass-producing Corrostop, Superion soundly defeated Menasor and destroyed the Lightning Bug. Cosmic Rust (episode)
While in the Middle East to help the local governments discover why military jets have been disappearing from hangers, the Aerialbots were lured into a trap by the Combaticons and Slingshot was buried alive in a cave by Blast Off. With his weapons console destroyed, Slingshot volunteered to act as a regular jet plane at an air force hanger in the hops of uncovering the plane-nappers. He and Skydive got more than they bargained for when they were dismantled by the Decepticon-backed criminals and smuggled across the border. Fortunately, they befriended a young boy named Hassan who identified Ali, the ringleader of the plane thieves who is helping the Decepticons rebuild the stolen planes into drone planes and has deposed the young ruler of the country, Prince Jumal. Hassan managed to recover all the parts removed from the two Aerialbots except for Slingshot's chest panel, but luckily Hassan borrowed the grill of Prince Jumal's Rolls Royce. During the subsequent battle between the Aerialbots and the Decepticons, their drone fighter jets and the Giant Purple Griffin, Hassan snuck on board the Griffin to try and steal a weapons console for Slingshot, but was trapped when the Decepticon fortress took off. Weaponless, Slingshot bravely attacked Onslaught and came to Hassan's rescue. With his weapons restored, came to his friends' aid by causing Bruticus to trip with his tow cable. Superion defeated the Griffin and the Aerialbots blew Megatron, Bruticus and oil prices away by destroying the oil fields beneath them. Afterwards, Hassan revealed himself as Prince Jumal and assured his friend Slingshot that he would always consider the young Aerialbot a Rolls Royce. Aerial Assault

In 2006, Slingshot piloted the Autobot shuttle sent to rescue Rodimus Prime, Kup, Arcee, Ultra Magnus Spike Witwicky and Springer from Quintessa. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2 Unfortunately, the planet exploded, destroying the shuttle and sending Slingshot and his passengers flying out into space. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3
Alongside Blades and Wheelie, Slingshot was one of the first Transformers whose energy was consumed by Tornedron. Call of the Primitives
Marvel Comics continuity
Generation 1
ukonly
Thanks to his previous connection to the Creation Matrix, Buster Witwicky began experiencing dreams and visions of new Transformers, beginning with an etching of Superion he made without even being consciously aware of it. Devastation Derby! By sharing his visions with Optimus Prime, Buster was able to clarify the images and understand the future of the evolution of the Cybertronian race—amalgam model robots like the Constructicons' Devastator, capable of a more-streamlined merging into a more powerful form. It was these visions which allowed Optimus Prime and Wheeljack to conceive of and construct the Aerialbots. Second Generation!

Working on a plan to reverse engineer the gestalt technology the Decepticons used to create Devastator, Optimus Prime and the Autobots staged a daring raid on the Decepticon base of operations, giving Bumblebee enough time to digitally record the Constructicons' electrical transformation pattern for study. Command Performances! Working off that blueprint, Wheeljack successfully created Slingshot and the Aerialbots. During the new warriors' testing phase, however, the Autobots were alerted to a Decepticon operation at Hoover Dam. Only the Aerialbots were fast enough to reach the location in time, and so Prime was forced to send them into battle before their programming was completed.

As the Aerialbots arrived and engaged the Decepticons in aerial combat, Slingshot was blindsided by Ramjet, who literally rammed him out of the skies. He recovered, but only to take another shot from Shrapnel's electro-blasts, and had to be rescued from a nosedive by Silverbolt.

The Aerialbots eventually turned the tide on the Decepticons and drove them off, giving them time to focus on the energy siphon which was the core of the problem. At Silverbolt's command, they merged into Superion and began dismantling the drill device. A problem arose, however, when Bombshell's cerebro-shell controlled pawn Ricky Vasquez pointed Megatron (in his gun mode) at the giant Autobot. Because the majority of the Aerialbots were not programmed specifically to protect human life, Superion only saw a potential threat that needed to be eliminated. As the human fought against the Decepticons' control, Silverbolt too fought inside Superion's gestalt mind to protect the human. In the end, Silverbolt was forced to disengage Superion to keep him from destroying the human. Luckily, Ricky was more successful and managed to break the cerebro-shell's hold long enough to point Megatron at the drill and destroy it, ending the threat. Aerialbots over America!

After the near disaster at Hoover Dam, Optimus Prime had the Aerialbots shut down and their programming completely erased. Returned to a blank slate, he then inputted fully-programmed personalities for them with the Matrix before their next mission. It, uh... didn't help. In battle with Menasor as Superion, the Aerialbots were attacked by Circuit Breaker, deactivated, and captured by RAAT. It was only a lucky break that they were eventually freed. Heavy Traffic!

As Grimlock took over the Autobots, Slingshot and the other Aerialbots took an extended leave of absence from the war, since the Dinobot commander focused Autobot resources on repairing their fallen comrades and prepping the Ark to become spaceworthy again.

Sometime later, the combined Autobot and Decepticon forces went into battle with Starscream, who had acquired the nigh-infinite power of the Underbase for himself. The Aerialbots were his first victims, wiped out in a single blast of cosmic power in the skies over New York City. Dark Star!

Along with the other deactivated Autobots aboard the Ark, Slingshot and the Aerialbots were eventually revived by the Nucleon super-energy Grimlock and the Dinobots recovered from Hydrus Four.

Earthforce
Slingshot was present with the entire Earthforce team outside Autobot Earthbase when Wheeljack unveiled his brand-new unbreachable defensive system. This was unfortunate, as Wheeljack had forgotten that, once activated, the system could only be turned off from the inside. Prowl elected to run the gauntlet and reach the shutdown console inside, and the Aerialbots provided air support for him. Slingshot and his buddies gunned down the Acid Bats at the entryway, giving Prowl his chance to get through. The House that Wheeljack Built!

Marvel UK future timelines
In 2008, Slingshot was one of several Autobots deactivated by the Quintessons when they invaded Autobot City. Space Pirates!

Generation 2
After the defeat of Bludgeon and his Decepticons on Klo, the Autobots split into smaller combat units throughout the universe. Once Optimus Prime and Grimlock learned of the threat posed by the second generation Cybertronian army, though, the Autobot forces reconsolidated under their command. Slingshot and the other Aerialbots were first seen after the Autobots had retreated to an asteroid sanctuary for retraining. They were, um, outsmarted by Hot Rod. The Power and the Glory He was later seen fighting the Cybertronians with his fellow Aerialbots on Ethos. Escalation! In the final battle with the Swarm on Earth, Slingshot was heavily damaged and then consumed by the entity alongside Slag. A Rage in Heaven!
: Slingshot transforms into a white Sea Harrier jumpjet with VTOL capabilities. While the other three Aerialbot limbs follow a standard design with similar proportions and parts distribution, Slingshot is unusual in that he is much, much thinner than the other jets (partly due to his vehicle mode), with stick-like arms and his front landing gear is mounted on his chest, as the Harrier nose cone on the toy is far too short to accommodate fold-down landing gear. Additionally, due to a lack of the interior space the other Aerialbots have, Slingshot's arms cannot fully collapse into his torso (and thus the sides of the plane).

:As a Scramble City-style combiner, Slingshot can be connected to any free arm or leg slot on Silverbolt to form Superion, and indeed can also combine with any other Scramble City combiner. However, his nominal placement is as the left arm of Superion.
Sandstorm gets bored easily, and has a very hard time concentrating on humdrum tasks. He craves excitement, and since the Transformers apparently don't have the X-Games (though they do have skateboarding apes), he goes in for fighting the Decepticons. The ever-present threat of deactivation or maiming doesn't frighten him, but he does fear that the war might end any chance for him to enjoy life. For Sandstorm, war may not be heaven, but it's a hell of an adventure.
Sandstorm was one of three Triple-Changers recruited by Emirate Xaaron to back up the Wreckers in Operation: Volcano, replacing Ultra Magnus after he went missing. In order to make a good first impression on Impactor, their new commander, Sandstorm and his buddies beat the titanium-coated stuffing out of him, thus proving that they'd fit right in with the Wreckers. Target: 2006

As a member of the Heroic Wreckers, Sandstorm's resume includes beating up Autobot leader Optimus Prime, The Harder They Die! beating up Autobot scientist Flame and destroying his life's work Meltdown!, NOT beating up Galvatron and letting him escape unmolested on Earth Wrecking Havoc, and routinely scaring humans and destroying entire towns Wrecking Havoc Cold Comfort and Joy!. In an alternate future, he murdered an unarmed fellow Autobot, starting a new Cybertronian Civil War between the Wreckers and the Technobots Peace. He was also in the immediate vicinity when his leader Impactor died, and did nothing to stop it. Twice.

Eh...hrm. Let's spruce up the old resume a bit, shall we?

As a member of the Heroic Wreckers, Sandstorm's resume includes capturing a potential spy who looked like Optimus Prime, The Harder They Die! stopping an evil genius and his army of zombies from destroying the world Meltdown!, sacrificing personal glory to save his leader Springer from the Decepticon Targetmasters Wrecking Havoc, and routinely interacting with the locals while assigned to Earth Wrecking Havoc Cold Comfort and Joy!. In an alternate future, he was personally responsible for destroying the last living Decepticon in the universe Peace. He also respected Impactor a great deal, in life and in death.

Ah. Much better. Meanwhile...

Oppressed under Grimlock's tyrannical rule, Sandstorm and several others on-board the Ark pleaded for Blaster to usurp Grimlock as leader of the Autobots. No one knows how Sandstorm got there. Spacehikers!
After being assigned to Earth duty and reporting to Cybertron about Galvatron amassing resources, Sandstorm joined a joint task force of Wreckers and Mayhems in confronting the evil Decepticon from the future. They were strong. They were numerous. They were annihilated. Galvatron's particle cannon ended up obliterating Sandstorm while the task force was in full retreat after losing more than half their members. Time Wars
Cartoon continuity
:Voice actor: Jerry Houser (US), Yoku Shioya (Japan)

Sandstorm is a native of Paradron. His Autobot ancestors fled Cybertron during what he called the Fourth Great War and ventured through a strange vortex, where they discovered a habitable world. There, they founded an energon-rich, democratic colony dedicated to non-violence.

But this came to an end when Cyclonus and Scourge stumbled through the vortex and crashed on Paradron. They had no idea where they were, but they knew it was a land ripe for the picking. They literally pushed the welcoming Paradronians around, then alerted Galvatron to the planet's existence. Sandstorm tried to rally his fellows against the two Decepticons, but no one wanted to fight. And he was proven terribly right in the middle of a speech, when Cyclonus abruptly shot him as Galvatron's invasion force descended from the sky.

Sandstorm was jailed, and the Decepticons forced the Paradronians into labor, building weapons. However, Sandstorm escaped rather easily and took an old shuttle back through the vortex. He put out a distress call and was found by the Cybertronian Autobots, whom he convinced to mount a counterstrike against Galvatron.

The Autobots infiltrated Paradron and took guerrilla action. They freed a group of Paradronians, and though the pacifists were still wary of Sandstorm's pleas to fight, they did finally take up arms. Despite this victory, though, the Decepticons still presented a daunting battle. Sandstorm gave little objection to Rodimus Prime's order to detonate the planet's energon core, destroying the world to keep it out of Galvatron's hands. In fact, he seemed downright happy to get some use out of the planetary escape pods. The Paradronians departed thusly while Sandstorm and Ultra Magnus planted a bomb on what Magnus called the most beautiful thing in the entire galaxy.

When it detonated five minutes later, Sandstorm and the Paradronians stood alongside the Autobots and watched their homeworld's destruction. "It's as beautiful in death as it was in life," Sandstorm eulogized simply. Rodimus openly mocked him and told him Cybertron was better. Fight or Flee

Maybe that's why he went to Earth instead. Though he was still on the abusive Rodimus' team investigating Trypticon's theft of famous monuments. Thief in the Night Interestingly, it was as a result of that caper that Octane was excommunicated from Galvatron's army. And then Sandstorm and Octane soon started hanging out, joyriding in and around Autobot City.

When the Combaticons tried to assassinate Octane, he and Sandstorm fled to a space station somewhere and had lunch. There, a Skuxxoid in Galvatron's employ tried to kill Octane several times but was comically thwarted by circumstance. Believing it would be safer, Sandstorm and Octane then went to Cybertron. But while Octane was alone there, he finally was captured by the Decepticons.

As he was being hauled away, Sandstorm tried to rescue him. And failed. Starscream's Ghost
Alongside Springer and Broadside, Sandstorm was sent from Athenia to Cybertron in order to defend against a major Decepticon assault. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky The Triple Changers then traveled to Earth, where they helped Twincast sneak into Trypticon by keeping their Decepticon counterparts busy with a dogfight. Apparently, Sandstorm wasn't on friendly terms with Octane anymore. The Great Cassette Operation
Sandstorm served under Springer as part of the Wreckers faction during the Dark Ages. They were primarily interested in keeping Ratbat and the Ultracons from gaining control of the Tagan Heights, the primary manufacturing region of Cybertron. The Wreckers once fought a major battle in the Heights alongside the Protectobots against the combiner known as Devastator. The War Within: The Dark Ages

Originally only able to transform into a ground vehicle, Sandstorm received an additional flight mode after the Great Shutdown, when Shockwave put him through Triple Changer engineering as part of the Pax Cybertronia between the Autobots and the Decepticons. New World Order Despite serving with Shockwave's Triple Changer Strike Force, Sandstorm and his partner Broadside grew uneasy about Shockwave's ultimate intentions, and allied themselves with the Autobot underground resistance. Sandstorm was killed by an assassin, Runabout, while secretly leading Optimus Prime to make contact with the resistance. Cold War
Sandstorm was part of the elite Wreckers unit operating under Springer's command. While he and the other aerial Wreckers were assaulting the Decepticon Siege Mode Armature on Varas Centralus, Springer was ordered by Operations-Command to pull out and return to Cybertron to deal with the resurrection of Thunderwing. Stormbringer issue 2 Sandstorm participated in the short assault that crushed Bludgeon's cult Stormbringer issue 3, and fought against Thunderwing himself when the creature was recalled to Cybertron. During the battle, he reported that their weapons were being shut down by Thunderwing charging the atmosphere and tried to tell Springer to get away, but he (along with several other Wreckers) were blasted away by the creature's microwave pulse. Stormbringer issue 4

Sandstorm and his fellow Wreckers were later dispatched to Corata-Vaz to gain control of the Nega-Core in place on that world, but had serious trouble getting past its watchdog, Thunderwing. They had a brief reprieve when Jetfire used the old Axis Cradle to remotely shut down the Pretender, but Jetfire was soon distracted and the battle was renewed. The Jumpstarters worked on overriding the Nega Core's programming while Sandstorm and the others held back Thunderwing. Eventually the Nega Cores were disabled and the Transformers of the Dead Universe defeated, causing Thunderwing to shut down once more. Spotlight: Sideswipe
