Yeah the way things went over the summer, I don't think one can objectively call ''any'' of the movie toyline "shelfwarmers" in the truest sense. I know I might sound like a broken record, but these fuckers are STILL warming the pegs in half a dozen stores I visited over the past few weeks, and that's more than three months after the two of them first came out. Supreme Cheetor and Alternators Swindle should be added to this page, I think. Also, I don't know if it was only my area that was like this, but the stores in my area were LOADED with Drill Bit and Manterror for years, even after Beast Machines was on the shelves and even after Transquito and BW Scavenger finally vanished. Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart (ESPECIALLY K-Mart), even the GROCERY STORES had these guys flooding the shelves for years. :Oh, excuse me. I should tried to make my comment actually make some... sense. Yes, Drill Bit and Manterror were on the shelves all through the remainder of Beast Wars, but they didn't cause as much trouble as I made out. Some of the stores were giving more space to Transformers at the time, after all. It did briefly seem like Drill Bit and Manterror were disappearing at one point, but they returned in full before Beast Machines. I believe that the stores may have wanted to take one more try to clear their inventory of an ending line, and put out their remaining shelfwarmers in hopes they might actually sell. Much like in the case of the Fuzors, clearance failed to work for these guys as well. Still don't know if any other places were flooded with Drill Bit or Manterror, though. Four million years later, the Transformers were reawakened by the eruption of the volcano the Ark had crashed in and reformatted by Teletraan-1. On Earth, Prowl continued to serve as [[Optimus Prime]]'s right hand man, filling the role of military advisor and strategist. His precision thinking and by-the-books planning served as a valuable counterpoint to Jazz's more improvisational style, and it was up to Optimus Prime to weigh their views and come to a decision.

During an attack against Decepticons, Prowl's battle computer was knocked offline by a particularly fierce blow. Crippled, Prowl extended his antenna to seek out an online computer that he could patch into. Prowl was an Autobot from [[Praxus]]. After the death of Sentinel Prime, [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] called him, [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]], and others to the ruins of Praxus, where he declared that if the new [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] was insufficient, they would take control of the Autobot military. Prowl was present at the ceremony when Optronix became Optimus Prime, and was restrained by Grimlock when Prime was attacked. Prowl became Optimus Prime's [[Sub-Commander|immediate subordinate]] and advisor. When Optimus ordered a planetary evacuation, Prowl told Prime that there were many voices raised in opposition against it. Prime asked if Prowl's own voice was raised in opposition, but he did not reply. The planetary turbines were activated by Megatron, and Prime left to investigate. As [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] lead an assault on Iacon, Prowl and Jazz lead the defense, and Prowl sent out an order to all Autobots outside Iacon to regroup and dig in elsewhere. After Iacon was devastated by the mecha-forming process, Prime aborted the evacuation. {{storylink|The War Within}}

After Prime and Megatron disappeared in a [[space bridge]] test, the Autobots fractured, leading to the [[Lightning Strike Coalition]] and [[Wreckers]] leaving the main Autobot army. Prowl took oever leadership of the Autobots. He worked with Shockwave, who had assumed command of the Decepticons, to prevent the [[Fallen]]'s plans from coming to fruition. Currently, he is the leader of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency lead by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], and blindly following the Autobot rules of counterinsurgency. He almost throws [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] in the brig for breaking cover to rescue three humans from the Decepticons, and subsequently refuses to contact Optimus Prime until further evidence of enemy activities is uncovered. He does not willingly believe Ratchet when the medic tells him that the Decepticons have stepped up their presence by constructing a second base. However, [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] ends up sending a pulsewave transmission to Prime behind Prowl's back. {{storylink|Infiltration}} Once Optimus arrives, Prowl shows himself to be a trusted and loyal officer.

When everything kicked off in Brasnya, Prowl led Jazz and Wheeljack (and later Hot Rod and Hardhead) into battle, attempting to capture a Decepticon facsimilie - he risked his life in the attempt (though Hot Rod mucked up his first attempt). While on a deep-space mission to test a new [[Impervious Alloy|heat- and radiation-resistant alloy]] that they have developed, scientists [[Jessica Morgan]] and [[Greggory Swafford]] detect a ship carrying Optimus Prime's body (see ''[[Dark Awakening]]'') on a collision course with a planetoid orbitting a star they are researching nearby. Despite Greggory's reservations (his face was scarred in a previous scuffle between Optimus and Megatron, which he blames on Optimus), he is talked into helping Jessica rescue Prime's body before the ship collides with the planetoid, the impact of which also sets off the star into a supernova and coating their ship with unusual spores. Upon return to Earth, Jessica's father studies the spores and learns that they are not only alive, but are an [[Hate Plague|incredibly contagious viral agent]] that induces hatred and destructive urges into whoever they contaminate. After a new scuffle between the Technobots and Terrorcons over the new alloy gravely injures Jessica, her father is convinced by Greggory to try and resurrect Prime's body as a carrier of the spores against the Autobots, a sentiment exacerbated when it's learned Jessica was paralyzed from the waist down in the accident and now needs a special exosuit to walk. However, when reviving Prime's body turns out to be impossible for them, Greggory and Jessica's father decide to use it as bait for the other Autobots, forcing Jessica into luring them into a spore trap at the lab.

The trap goes off without a hitch, mostly due to Rodimus' reckless haste in recovering his predecessor's corpse in lieu of caution, and several Autobots - including Superion and Defensor, two of the most powerful Autobot gestalts - are infected. However, the Decepticons had learned about Optimus Prime's recovery as well, and have shown up to terminate the once Autobot leader permanently, but are instead infected themselves. Fortunately, Rodimus, Jessica, and Galvatron manage to escape unharmed, the former two with Optimus' body; a few other Autobots manage to escape infection as well, but are badly wounded while attempting to subdue a sickened and crazed Superion. Back at Autobot City, Rodimus pleads to Wreck-Gar to try and repair Prime, but Prime is too far gone even for Junkion medical experience. Desperate, Rodimus contacts Sky Lynx and orders him to locate and bring back a Quintesson, remembering that they had [[Dark Awakening|once before restored Optimus to life]], before disconnecting Metroplex, keeping the city-former from becoming infected. However, just as he finishes the final steps to do so, an infected Ultra Magnus appears and has a short chase with Rodimus before being temporarily subdued by Wreck-Gar...who ends up becoming infected, and infecting Rodimus in return, for his efforts.

Now, with the Hate Plague, as it's now called, rampaging even to the ends of the galaxy, Sky Lynx finds an uninfected Quintesson who he's able to convince to help revive Optimus, even though he warns that - should anything go too awry during the process - there's a good chance that Optimus will never live again. It's touch-and-go for a while, but eventually, the Quintesson manages to pull through and Optimus is restored to full life, declaring that "no force in the Universe can stop me."
