On the day President Obama awarded Sam Witwicky with a medal for saving the world twice at the White House, Sam met Carly Spencer. At that point Carly worked at the British embassy.

Despite getting off to an awkward start, the two young adults were attracted to each other. Soon Carly moved in with Sam, and she got a job as a secretary for Dylan Gould, CEO of a major investments company and car enthusiast, who was also taken by her beauty. At some point she also met up with the decommissioned Autobots Wheelie and Brains.

Carly encouraged Sam and appreciated him for who he was. She even bought him a “lucky bunny” as a positive motivator for his impending job interviews.

Later, after getting a job at a Accuretta Systems, Sam visited Carly at her workplace where she was pleased to see him. Sam also met Dylan for the first time, and his joy turned to anger and jealousy when he realised that Dylan was infatuated with Carly.
