:Trypticon is a Decepticon in the Generation 1 continuity family.

While there have been other sentient Decepticon "cities," Trypticon was the first to appear in any continuity. His intelligence and personality vary between those continuities, from a plodding near-animal to an introspective killer with designs on Decepticon leadership. Also variable is his scale: He's always depicted as being very large, but whether that means being two-to-three times typical Transformer size, literally city-sized, or somewhere in between, is rarely consistent. One element that should be consistent, given how often it's referenced, is the fact that his eyes can emit hypno-beams that subvert the will of other Transformers. Strangely, though, he has never been seen to use them.

In some continuities, he is accompanied by one or more smaller robots. The only one to exhibit an autonomous personality is Wipe-Out. Full-Tilt and Brunt have merely been mindless drones when they've existed at all.

Voice actor: Brad Garrett (US), Yutaka Shimaka (Japan)

In the year 2006, Trypticon was built on Earth by the Constructicons (with help from Octane and some other guy), out of a human city as the Decepticon answer to Metroplex and as part of the joint Quintesson/Decepticon campaign to attack the Autobots on two fronts. Upon activation, Trypticon sent his former human occupants running for their lives, then destroyed a nearby mountain for no apparent reason. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

His first mission was to attack the Ark, defended by those pesky Minibots. Trypticon shot Powerglide out of the sky, then shrugged off sneak attacks by the Minibot defenders (stepping on Swerve) before leveling the Ark and the volcano the Autobot ship was embedded in. Destroying one Autobot stronghold wasn't enough, however, and Trypticon soon set his sights on Autobot City and Metroplex.

Metroplex was at a significant disadavantage, since he was without his transformation cog and thus locked into his battle station form, a weakness that Trypticon exploited. However, the timely arrival of Blurr and Wheelie with the cog allowed Metroplex to gain the upper hand, and Trypticon to take a bath in the Pacific ocean. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

Trypticon resurfaced later in a world monument stealing scheme with the Triple Changer Octane. They stole the monuments for Abdul Fakkadi of the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya in exchange for the country's high-grade oil. Initially, the Dinobots and Sky Lynx were suspected, but Perceptor linked the crime back to Trypticon. Rodimus Prime, Metroplex, and the rest of the Autobots put a stop to the scheme, and Trypticon took another bath. Thief in the Night

Later, he had one of his eyes, his transformation cog, and even his body stolen by Starscream and Scourge in an effort to revive Unicron. He also acted as a transport vessel for the other "primitive" Transformers when they went to fight Tornedron, but no baths were involved.

Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers manga
In this timeline, Trypticon's construction occurred around 1986/87, rather than in 2005. While the Autobots were in the process of constructing Metroplex, Astrotrain and Reflector were able to sneak past their security and spy on the process, acquiring the information that Megatron needed to discover whether or not Metroplex was strong enough to stand up to Trypticon.

The completed Trypticon made his fist appearance terrorizing an island utopia that the Decepticons had taken control of. He made short work of Superion, nearly killing him, until he was goaded into battle by the sudden appearance of Metroplex. Trypticon dove head-first at his rival, only to phase right through him and fall off a cliff and into the ocean. As it turns out, it was a hologram created by Hound and magnified by Perceptor.

Scramble City OVA
Not long after Trypticon's island misadventure, the Autobots completed construction of Metroplex, who was dispatched to aid the Autobot combiners in battle against their Decepticon foes. With the villains defeated, Megatron activated Trypticon to battle Metroplex.

(The Japanese manga and Scramble City served as a supplement to the animated series, with the events of the manga occurring between the end of the second season and the OVA, and the OVA itself occurring around the year 1987, it's cliffhanger left unresolved - although the possibility that it could have ended with Trypticon getting thrown off a cliff and crashing into the ocean is distinctly high. Both were released only in Japan, and are decidedly out-of-continuity with the Western version of the animated series, as they contradict Trypticon's origin as it is depicted there.)

Headmasters
Voice actor: Masato Hirano (Japan)

Trypticon continued serving the Decepticons into the year 2011; however, by then he'd become mostly a joke. In one confrontation, he was defeated by Daniel and Wheelie when they lured him into walking onto a rickety rope bridge which subsequently buckled under his weight and dumped him into a river. Nevertheless, he was still used in numerous battles throughout 2011. At one point he was commandeered by Cyclonus and Scourge and brought into battle against the Autobot Headmasters. The pair fled, leaving Trypticon behind to be destroyed (which happened off-screen; his destruction was only mentioned by Galvatron). He was apparantly rebuilt, however, and was seen serving the Decepticons all the way through to their eviction from planet Earth.

Zone OVA
Voice actor: Daisuke Gōri (Japan)

(Trypticon is referred to as one of the Nine Great Demon Generals. This terminology, coupled with the presence of the previously deceased Black Zarak in their ranks and Violen Jygar's supernatural origins, could mean that Trypticon died previously to Zone and was likewise brought back to life. However, this is unconfirmed, meaning that Violen Jygar may have simply recruited the still-living Trypticon to be a General.)

Trypticon eventually joined forces with Violen Jygar as one of his nine deadly Decepticon Demon-Generals. Now with the rank of Saurian General, he used a club for a weapon and was equipped with a new attack, the Energon Z Beam, thanks to his compatriots stealing the Autobots' Energon Z from Planet Zone. Trypticon was sent by Violen Jygar to steal the Zodiac from the Autobots on Earth. During the battle with Dai Atlas, the power of the Zodiac was released right in Trypticon's face, killing him.

Marvel Comics Continuity
Events in italics happened in the Marvel UK comics

Trypticon was dispatched by Ratbat to Earth, where he attacked the Ark with the aid of Wipe-Out. He exhibited more intelligence than in perhaps any other universe, bantering with his enemies and employing some degree of strategy. But the Dinobots held him off long enough that his energy expenditures upset the miserly Ratbat, who recalled him to Cybertron. The "defeat" of Trypticon immediately led to Grimlock's inauguration as Autobot Leader.

Later he fought evil zombies with Flywheels and the Wreckers.

Dreamwave comics continuity
Before the Ark left Cybertron, Trypticon was seen participating in at least one assault on the Autobots. Though not seen at that time, he does control two "battlefield drones," Full-Tilt and Brunt.

Despite his effectiveness as a killing machine, he doubts the Decepticon cause and hates his own role. He thinks that his abilities will eventually merit his taking leadership of the Decepticons, though he accepts this with the same resignation as the rest of his futile existence. More Than Meets the Eye

Devil's Due G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers comics continuity
As part of Serpent O.R.'s forces, Trypticon defended the newly unified Decepticon army's base against a combined Autobot/G.I. Joe strike force. A massive barrage from Ultra Magnus and G.I. Joe's artillery almost felled the giant Decepticon. The Art of War, Part 5

IDW Comics Continuity
During a flashback, Trypticon can be seen battling Thunderwing alongside Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Omega Supreme. It's unknown if he survived the battle. Stormbringer, Part 1

Megatron is not content with conquest of Cybertron. When he learns of some power greater than his own, he does not attempt to merely defeat it. He will subjugate it, bend it to his will, carve up its corpse and integrate its power into himself. He is a monster. Megatron tempers this barbarism with regal militaristic formality. He calls his closest troops "gentlemen." He speaks politely and intelligently. He makes it perfectly clear that he is completely cognizant of his madness.

Megatron's only weakness is his obsession with Optimus Prime. No matter how much power he attains, his final, glorious battle must be against him. On the occasions Prime has seemingly been destroyed, Megatron has sunk into a deep depression. Once Optimus Prime is gone, there may be no further challenges in this universe.

Millions of years ago, the civil war on Cybertron reached a bloody stalemate as both Autobots and Decepticons augmented their forces with a race of small power-enhancing Transformers known as the Mini-Cons. In the end, a truce was settled where the Mini-Cons would be exiled, never to be used as tools of war again. However, Megatron betrayed the truce, attacking with the full force of the Decepticon fleet in an attempt to capture all the Mini-Cons in one fell swoop. The Autobots, anticipating this turn of events, launched their fleet to protect the fleeing Exodus Mini-Con ship as it warped away.

In the year 2010, Cybertron recieves a Mini-Con homing beacon from a small primative world known as Earth unwittingly activated by a group of human children. Megatron leads his most loyal Decepticon warriors to his planet in search of the Mini-Cons only to discover his arch-enemy Optimus Prime has followed to stop him. First Encounter

After a tactical retreat, it is revealed that the Decepticons have establishing a base in the ruined hulk of the Mini-Con ship on Earth's moon. While pondering his next move, Megatron discovers a Mini-Con storage panel buried in the moon dust. Activating it, he discovers it is his old Mini-Con partner, Leader-1. Counting upon this as his edge over the Autobots, he reconfigures the vehicle modes of his forces and sets out to capture the human children and their Mini-Con friends. After surrounding them, he is thwarted yet again by the timely arrival of Optimus Prime and the other Autobots. However, Megatron soon demonstrates the great power a Mini-Con bestows on a Transformer, initially overwealming the Autobots with his sheer firepower. Metamorphosis Base

Megatron went on to run a sucessful campaign, regularly capturing Mini-Cons and successfully combining the first two Mini-Con weapons, the Star Saber and the Skyboom Shield. Through the machinations of his tactician, Thrust (who was at the time indirectly being manipulated by Unicron), Megatron then acquired the final weapon, the Requiem Blaster, which was with the other two served to power the newly-built Hydra Cannon. The destructive force of his new weapon was unleashed against Earth, but Optimus Prime took the blast to save the planet, killing himself in the process.

Prime's death plunged Megatron into a deep depression, having lost his greatest opponent without the chance to finish him with his own hands. Thankfully for all concerned, the Mini-Cons were able to resurrect Optimus, restoring Megatron to his former self - but he soon underwent another change that allowed him to surpass all he had been, when he was among the Transformers who had their powers boosted by their Mini-Cons. Renaming himself "Galvatron," he returned to Cybertron with a renewed vigour for conquest. However, the emergence of the threat of Unicron was ignored by Galvatron, forcing his lieutenant Starscream to sacrifice himself to make his leader see the truth, and Galvatron again came to fear the end of his war in the face of Unicron's power. Galvatron entered Unicron's body along with Optimus Prime, and was absorbed into the demi-god's body and mind, but when the Autobots' human allies freed the Mini-Cons from Unicron's thrall, Galvatron too was freed. Believing the threat of Unicron to be over, he challenged Prime to a final duel. However, the energies released in the battle reawakened Unicron, and Galvatron saw that the only way to end the circle was to destroy himself - sacrificing his life rather than live in an era of peace, Galvatron plunged himself into Unicron's maw, and in a flash, the two seemingly ceased to exist.

Energon
Voice actor: David Kaye, Richard Newman (Episode 14 only) (US), Junichi Endô (Japan)

Although he was believed dead by both the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron, like Unicron, had survived the final battle, his body now a decayed husk, absorbed into the equally damaged body of Unicron, where it lay for ten years. When the being called Alpha Q began his plan to re-energise Unicron, Megatron saw his opportunity, syphoning off some of the energon that Alpha Q's Terrorcons stole, working towards his own rebirth. To turn the Decepticons to his side, Alpha Q forged a sword from Megatron's spark, but when an enraged Scorponok stabbed Megatron's corpse with the blade, Megatron was born anew. Taking the sword for his own, he proceeded to take over Unicron's body, sending Alpha Q fleeing in Unicron's head, and restarted his campaign against Earth and the Autobots, seeking energon to reactivate Unicron, who he would use as the ultimate weapon.

Megatron eventually succeeded in bringing Unicron to the vicinity of Cybertron and transforming the planet-eater to robot mode. However, in an attempt to stop him, Alpha Q rammed Unicron's head, charged with the positive energon of Earth, into Unicron's body. The resultant reaction between Earth's energon and the negatively-charged energon that powered Unicron tore a rupture in reality that led to a new region of space where Alpha Q recreated all the planets Unicron had consumed. Megatron immediately saw these new worlds as targets to acquire more energon, and after another series of attacks, Megatron successfully amassed enough to fully reanimate Unicron. However, the chaos-bringer's consciousness invaded Megatron's body, taking over his mind.

Although Optimus Supreme was able to destroy Unicron's body, his mind lived on, buried within Megatron, subtly directing him to attack Cybertron and uncover a reservoir of Super Energon beneath the planet's surface. Megatron immersed himself in the powerful liquid and underwent another power boost, once again taking the name of Galvatron. Quickly acquiring control of the planet, he forced the Autobots underground with energon gas and used the planet's Energon Towers to relocate Cybertron to Alpha Q's region of space. Once there, Galvatron once again soaked himself in Super Energon, growing to a colossal height, but as he did so, Unicron's influence totally seized control of his mind and directed him out into space to re-merge with his spark. Optimus Prime forced him into a battle, knowing that Galvatron's hatred of him would force his consciousness to surface again, and when it did, Prime drained Unicron's influence from Galvatron, sealing it within himself.

Enraged by Unicron's manipulations, Galvatron intended to destroy Unicron's spark, but wound up being possessed by it once more. While struggling to fight the control of Unicron, he was confronted by Optimus Prime once again, and rather than fight him, he plunged himself into the foundling sun created by Primus, igniting the star and once again seemingly destroying himself rather than allow Unicron victory.

Ten years later, Primus's plan to imprison Unicron's spark at the heart of the sun ultimately failed, leading the star to collapse, creating a black hole which threatened the existence of Cybertron, and the rest of the universe. Escaping his confinement within the sun, Megatron enhanced his powers by merging his body with the remnants of Unicron's shattered form, increasing his power with the dark god's own.

As the Autobots prepared to evacuate Cybertron in the wake of disasters caused by the black hole, Megatron struck, approaching the unprotected ancient Transformer Vector Prime, and stealing a holographic map containing locations of the Cyber Planet Keys that could be used to seal the black hole. Operating out of a fiery pocket dimension, Megatron schemed to used the world-shaping power of the Cyber Planet Keys and their focal Omega Lock to accelerate the universal degeneration created by the black hole, destroying the universe and using the keys to remake it in his own image.

Leaving Starscream and Thundercracker to search for the Omega Lock on Earth, Megatron located the resting place of the first Cyber Planet Key on Velocitron, the Speed Planet. Recruiting the native troublemakers Ransack and Crumplezone to do his bidding, he deduced that the planet's racing trophy was the key. After failing to defeat planet ruler Override in a race to learn more, however, he left Ransack and Crumplezone to compete in tournaments and win the trophy and turned his attention to the Jungle Planet, home of the second Cyber Planet Key, where he ingratiated himself with planet ruler Scourge. Both missions ultimately ended in failure, however, when the Autobots acquired the keys.

Attempting to find the third key, Megatron discovered that he had been betrayed by Starscream when the planet map - in reality, a duplicate switched out by Starscream - led him to a dead sector of space and sealed him within a metallic sphere. Scourge was able to liberate him a short time later, but in that time, Starscream had obtained the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth, for himself, along with the Omega Lock and other keys. Megatron made a beeline for his treacherous lieutenant, but was intercepted by the Autobots Hot Shot, Red Alert and Scattorshot, who intended to hold him off until the other Autobots could stop Starscream. Starscream's attempts to harness the Earth Key, however, caused a release of its energies which endowed Megatron with a new Cyber Key power - the "Death Machine Gun," which he used to mow down the Autobots in his path.

The Autobots managed to retake the keys from Starscream, but a further attack from Megatron saw the Decepticon leader steal them out from under Optimus Prime's nose and retreat into his pocket dimension. Prime pursued him through the portal and defeated him in a pitched battle, reacquiring the lock and returning to Cybertron. As Megatron attempted to follow him, Vector Prime combined his portal-opening powers with the Cyber Planet Keys and collapsed Megatron's dimension in upon itself, destroying the villain.

This was not to be the end for Megatron, however, as the power of his Unicron armor sustained him as a ghost-like entity composed of pure darkness. In this state, he rematerialised on Cybertron and used Unicron's reformatting powers to upgrade the injured Crumplezone into Dark Crumplezone. As he came under attack from the Autobot Leobreaker, his regeneration completed and his physical body was restored, even as he used the remainder of the lingering darkness to create an evil doppleganger of Leobreaker, Nemesis Breaker, out of the Autobots own dark thoughts. Merging with Nemesis Breaker to form Dark Claw Mode, Megatron battled Optimus Prime and Leobreaker's Savage Claw Mode and made a further play for the Omega Lock, until news of the location of the fourth and final Cyber Planet Key led him to withdraw.

Guided through a spatial warp by the mysterious Soundwave to Gigantion, the Giant Planet, home of the final key, Megatron engaged the world's leader, Metroplex, in battle. Much to his surprise, however, he was utterly defeated in seconds. Consumed with rage, the power of Unicron within his armour reached out and detected the energies of the Giant Planet's Cyber Planet Key, drawing upon them and infusing Megatron's body with them. Attacking the Autobots in a dark, shadowed form, he decimated most of their forces before being confronted by Optimus Prime and completing his transformation - once again, Megatron had become Galvatron.

After taking revenge on Metroplex, Galvatron joined the race to acquire the Giant Play key, which included a rematch the reborn Hot Shot, Red Alert and Scattorshot. Yet again, the Autobots were able to acquire the key, but Galvatron then stole the completed Omega Lock, only to be attacked by Starscream, who battled with Galvatron for possession of the artifact. Galvatron ultimately claimed victory in the battle, with the sheer amount of energy released in the clash actually blasting Starscream (Along with Sideways and Soundwave who were trying to nick the lock) into another universe. With the lock and keys now in his hands, Galvatron returned to the Black Hole, where he was confronted and finally defeated by the five planet leaders.

Having had ultimate power torn from his grasp, Galvatron contemplated giving up, but when Starscream's spirit reached out to him and goaded him into continuing his vendetta, he challenged Optimus Prime to one final duel. Battling on Cybertron's moon, Galvatron generated a massive blade of dark energy, which Prime countered with Vector Prime's sword. As the two old enemies charged towards each other in a final strike, Prime impaled Galvatron, whose body crumbled and dissolved as he met his end once and for all.

In a montage sequence at the conclusion of the series, however, Galvatron's evil proved eternal, as, beyond the veil of time and space, his spark battled with that of Vector Prime.
Armada
Megatron is the cold, calculating, and above all powerful and dangerous leader of the Decepticons. Despite this, he occasionally rushes into situations without thinking; on one such occasion he was sealed in a security room and tortured nearly to death by Leader-1. Later, after Optimus Prime's sudden disappearance, he ordered an attack on Autobase, critically wounding Smokescreen in the process. When Unicron attacked, Megatron attempted to gain power from the chaos bringer. However, Hot Shot, Red Alert, and Scavenger met him there and blasted him into Unicron in order to avenge Smokescreen's recent near-death experience.

Energon
Though his body was meticulously and painfully deconstructed by Unicron's defense systems, his consciousness survived within Unicron's spark core. In secret, he constructed a new body for himself and, after teleporting Optimus Prime into Unicron and convincing him to shut down some sensors, returned to Earth and destroyed Scorponok. Ironhide was worried that Megatron would kill him too, but Megatron told him that he wanted him alive so that he could tell everyone that he had returned.<br>
Unfortunately, Dreamwave went bankrupt before Megatron's intentions could be revealed.

At an unknown point in time, Megatron ordered Snow Cat, Slugslinger, and Sharkticon to attack Ocean City. Each of them failed in various embarassing ways, then lied about it afterward in an attempt to defend their failures.
*Megatron with Leader-1 (Ultra, 2002/2003)
: Japanese ID number: MD-01

: Armada Megatron transforms into a green and purple Cybertronic tank. His turret is able to rotate freely and pivot the main cannon up and down (which can also fire a spring-loaded missile). One of the most-Mini-Con play pattern-intensive toys in the Armada line, Megatron has many gimmicks and features designed to exploit Mini-Con collectability. Plugging a Mini-Con onto the Powerlinx Mini-Con port in the L-shaped trench, then pulling back down the length of the trench and locking it in will flip up a double missile launcher on the opposite side of the turret, with two spring-loaded missiles ready to fire. Plugging a Mini-Con into the turret hatch Powerlinx port, then pulling left (assuming one is behind the turret) will activate a soundclip which says "Decepticons, Attack!", followed by machine gun sound effects and will light up the Decepticon sigil panel on the front of the turret.

: The right-side forward hull protrusion has a flip-out "launch pad" for Mini-Cons, with a sliding Powerlinx port. The left-side forward hull three spring-loaded, flip-out panels that have Powerlinx ports that reveal themselves at the push of a button. The rear right-side hull has a flip-out ramp for Minicons, and a slide-out capture claw to ensnare them, while the rear left-side hull has a holding compartment for Mini-cons, although most are too large to fit inside.

:In robot mode, Megatron has decent articulation in his arms, but has exceptionally limited articulation in his legs owing to stability concerns when his various gimmicks are used. Plugging a Mini-Con onto his left forarm Powerlinx port and sliding it forward will reveal a small knife in his spring-loaded left hand, though this gimmick can be activated without a Mini-Con. The entire turret assembly can be rotated around to face forward, then all his weapons can then be pivoted to face forward as well for his Full Blast Mode.

:Megatron can also combine with Tidal Wave, with Tidal Wave's aircraft carrier and battleship clipping onto his arms and his troop transport clipping onto Megatron's back (after the turret has been positioned in Full Blast Mode configuration) as a jetpack.

:While the American version had a metallic purple face, the Japanese had a plain silver face and more detailed Decepticon symbols.

: This mold was used to make Universe Megazarak.
: Galvatron is a predominantly purple and white redeco of the previous Gigacon class Megatron toy, covered in black 'battle damage' scorch mark decos and a paint wash on this torso and tank treads. Functionally the only difference is that the sound clip played when a Mini-Con is used on his turret hatch Powerlinx port now says "The Power is mine!" (which was also a line spoken by Megatron in an episode of the Armada cartoon.

: The Takara release has slight paint-shade difference from the Hasbro version and a metallic gray face instead of flat black, plus fictionally, he comes with a powered-up version of Leader-1 rather than the separate character Clench.

:Energon Megatron transforms into a off-white gray and blue Cybertronic jet superficially resembling the vehicle mode of Generation 1 Cyclonus. Included is a small representation of Armada Megatron's tank form, which can plug onto the top of the vehicle mode and can also fire missiles out of its spring-loaded main gun, which also activates an (oddly) machine gun sound effect. Hyper Mode can be activated by raising the upper grey parts of his wings in an 'X-wing' configuration, which extends the translucent green weapons underneath.

:In robot mode Megatron greatly resembles Generation 1 Galvatron in general appearance and in that character's original toy's Megatron-based colour scheme. The two cannons on his shoulders are typically displayed pointing upwards to evoke the appearance of Megatron's previous Armada body, but they can be lowered into firing position. The small tank accessory can be attached to either of his arms as a cannon, or it can be flipped around and have a sword attached to the rear of its turret. The sword connection is spring-loaded, and movement front the sword will activate a sword clashing sound effect and light up an LED inside.
*Galvatron (Super, 2004)

: As part of the Powerlinx Battles line refresh, Hasbro's Super class Megatron was extensively redecoed to resemble Generation 1 Galvatron as much as possible, except for the fact the shade of purple used isn't right. His predominant colour is (naturally) purple, with black plastic and extensive use of metallic silver and metallic red paint for detailing. The transluscent plastic is was redecoed to orange.

:Cybertron Megatron transforms into a multi-colored Cybertronic race car and jet. In car mode he resembles a dragster, with large rolling wheels and a comparatively small cockpit. Separating the front halves of the car and fliping them to the sides, connecting them to the hole in the middle of his real wheels transforms him into his jet thing. Okay. Inserting a Cyber Planet Key into his central slot above his cockpit canopy activates a spring-loaded, pop up engine with red LEDs.

:In robot mode Megatron's design is partially based upon Armada Unicron's design, with very similar shoulders and arms, though the retention of Unicron's trademark orange leads to a rather chaotic colourscheme. In contrast to the previous two major Unicron Trilogy toys Megatron has had, Cybertron Megatron features excellent articulation, though his top-heavy design puts some strain on the ratcheting joints in his ankles. Inserting a Cyber Key into the slot on the vehicle halve behind his right shoulder opens up a panel to access a rotating gattling gun weapon made up of his left front car wheel (this weapon was called a Death Machine Gun in Japan). Inserting a Cyber Key into his slot on the vehicle halve behind his left should opens up another panel and detaches his Unicron Spines melee weapon, which can attach onto his left forearm.
: Cybertron Galvatron is a silver and black redeco of Leader class Cybertron Megatron. The colour scheme is based upon Generation 1 G1 Megatron. It is notable that in contrast to most Transformers toys, most of the parts designated silver are fully painted silver.
: The Takara version uses yellow paint details (and was also packaged in a 'special' box), while the Hasbro release intially yellow before quickly switching to metallic gold.
Note: Japanese hobby magazine articles noted that the Galaxy Force release of Master Galvatron's silver paint was based upon the hard-wearing silver paint used on cell phones. * A black and green redeco of the Super Energon Megatron mold was planned to be released with Smallest Transformers Soundwave as a Target exclusive, but was ultimately canceled.
Attacktix
*Megatron (Booster, 2006)
:Faction: Decepticon
:Class: Leader
:Special: Transform - 8/26 (31%) success ratio
:Point Cost: 40
:Base Speed: 4
:Attack Type: Shooter (Energy Blast)
:This version of Attacktix Megatron is based on his Cybertron robot form. Despite being called an Energy Blast (Attacktix terminology was all created based on Star Wars), his missile is actually designed to resemble the tyre section of his gattling gun. The angled missile works best by positioning it to oppose the angle of the stance of the figure you're aiming at.

:Megatron is designed to work with his Vehicle Mode figure, bringing a Vehicle Mode Megatron into play from your back-ups. He has four points of articulation (head, waist and shoulders), which he can use to form a defensive tripod by angling his gun arm down behind him.

*Megatron (Vehicle) (Booster, 2006)
:Faction: Decepticon
:Class: Leader
:Special: Transform - 20/26 (77%) success ratio
:Point Cost: 40
:Base Speed: 4
:Attack Type: Shooter (Small missile)
:Megatron's Vehicle mode is based on his jet form rather than his car form. In this form he has a ridiculously huge cannon (it's almost the size of the jet) which can swivel at its base - the only point of articulation on the figure.

:Megatron's speed is unusually high for a shooter, and his very reliable power makes him an effective support figure. Because of the wording of his power he can bring into play any figure named Megatron, including the G1 Megatron figure, from your backups.

*Megatron (Intergalactic Showdown, 2006)
:Attacktix ID number: SVT06
:Faction: Decepticon
:Class: Leader
:Special: Sacrifice - 12/26 (46%) success ratio
:Point Cost: 40
:Base Speed: 4
:Attack Type: Shooter (Energy Blast)
:Basically the same deco as the TF16 robot mode figure, this guy has a gold base and a new power. This version was available only in the Star Wars vs. Transformers Intergalactic Showdown pack.

:SVTO6 Megatron can be summoned into play using his vehicle mode figure, getting the 40 point figure into play for only 30 points. His Sacrifice special power allows him to return to play, replacing one of the other Decepticon figures on the field. How very Megatron.
Trivia
* A conceptual drawing in the Micron Legend Yearbook 2003 showed Armada Megatron as originally being more weapon-laden and certifiably able to kill you to death.

*Also in the Micron Legend Yearbook 2003, Armada Megatron's cannon's concept art specifically notes that there is a "'80s Galvatron" homage sculpted on the barrel.

* A different development sketch in the Yearbook revealed that "Gigatron" was one of Armada Megatron's working names.

* According to Aaron Archer as ORSON on the now-defunct "Orson's World" forum at TFW2005.com, Armada Megatron's "antlers" were part of an aborted Mini-Con grabber gimmick. The gimmick didn't make it, but the antlers remained.

* Also according to Archer, the chin on Armada Megatron is supposed to look like a pair of fangs to play up the character's evil nature. How well this was actually pulled off in the final sculpt is debatable.

* When a fan asked him why Energon Megatron was not named Galvatron, owing to continuity with the Armada series and the obvious visual homage in the figure's design, Archer explained that it was due to Hasbro needing to protect their trademarks, as well as Megatron being a more recognizable (and thus marketable) product name. He added that he personally wanted to call the toy Galvatron Imperius.

* According to the Armada Playstation 2 game instruction booklet, Megatron's Armada body has the following statistics:
:Height: 22' 11" (8' 3" vehicle mode)
:Weight: 106,925 lbs
:Power: 1,600 hp
:Vehicle top speed: 50mph

* During his stint on the Armada comic, it seems Pat Lee may have been referring to the Hasbro stock photo of Megatron (shown above in the toy section), as he consistently draws Megatron's feet as being flipped with the "grates" from the tops of the feet facing forward.

Thundercracker

:Thundercracker is a Decepticon in the Armada and Cybertron portions of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Thundercracker suffered from low self-esteem and longed for approval from authority figures to validate his existence. He was willing to work as hard as necessary to gain attention and praise from Megatron, but when all his efforts were ignored or taken for granted, he grew frustrated. Thundercracker felt the need to engage in ever more risky and reckless behavior in an attempt to gain Megatron's notice. Many predicted this would lead to his destruction.

When next we see Thundercracker it is over ten years later, loyally serving under Starscream during the search for the Cyber Planet Keys. In the intervening years he became something of a jokester and goofball. This has often gained him the attention that he craves. Though frequently, especially when Megatron is the brunt of the joke, it is far from positive attention. Thundercracker doesn't seem mature enough to tell the difference, but he does know when to get the smelt out of Decepticon HQ before Megatron looks for someone to pummel.

(Note: the Dreamwave More Than Meets The Eye bio compilation for the Armada series portrays Thundercracker very differently, as a former Decepticon who left the army centuries ago. However, this does not seem to mesh with the glimpses of unreleased Energon comic issues where Thundercracker, along with several other Armada-series characters, show up in the present day.)

Fiction
Animated continuity
Armada
The character "Thundercracker" is never seen in the Armada cartoon. When Starscream gains his Powerlinx coloration, however, he happens to look just like Thundercracker. In Armada (although not Micron Legend) he specifically says "I look like Thundercracker," with a clear tone of distaste, proving that, although he is not seen, Armada Thundercracker must exist in this continuity as well and is probably a goober.

Cybertron
:Voice actor: Mark Oliver (US) Kazunari Tanaka (Japan)

Back outside the boundaries of the Unicron Singularity, Thundercracker and the few remaining Decepticons still loyal to Galvatron were given a boost of Omega Lock power, super-sizing them so they could take on the massed armies that had gathered from all of the colony worlds to oppose them. Thundercracker took on Optimus Prime himself to give Galvatron time to achieve his goal. However, Thundercracker was then gang-attacked by Leobreaker, Hot Shot, Jetfire, and Landmine, giving Prime the opportunity to chase Galvatron into the black hole.

Thundercracker continued to fight, and came very close to being directly in the path of the singularity-collapsing cannon-blast from the massive Ark starship.

After the defeat of Galvatron and the closing of the Unicron Singularity, Thundercracker realized that Galvatron was going to let him die in the cataclysm that his plan would have caused, and along with the other now-de-powered Decepticons, ran off. When the rocket boosters that built on the Jungle Planet to push the world back to its normal place in the cosmos began to fail, the four Decepticons arrived, cackling... and helped with the efforts to keep the thrusters upright and functional, deciding to try being on the winning team for once.

Thundercracker spent most of his time then on Earth, under the supervision of Mudflap, helping rebuild cities damaged by the Singularity's effects. When the Autobots were ready to begin their Space Bridge initiative, Thundercracker went to see his new "best friend" Optimus Prime off. Unfortunately, he ran across his former Decepticon allies, who were sick of trying to fit in, and had built a ramshackle rocket and taken off to form the New Decepticon Army. The trio shanghai'd Thundercracker, who really didn't want to join them, and took off for parts unknown.

They made it as far as Mars before the rocket crashed.
Toys
Armada
*Thundercracker with Zapmaster (Max-Con, 2003)

: Thundercracker is a redeco of Armada Starscream, transforming into a Cybertronic fighter jet. In both modes, pressing down on his cockpit canopy activates electronic sound effects; in jet mode, it also deploys his Mini-Con partner Zapmaster if he is stored under the cockpit. Plugging a Mini-Con onto his rearmost Powerlinx plug releases two spring-activated over-shoulder spring-loaded missile launchers, as well as more electronic sound effects. His left wing detaches and unfolds to form a large sword for use in robot mode. He is something of a rarity in the Armada line, in that he is a redeco that is a new, separate character rather than a "Powerlinx" upgrade of an existing character.

: This mold was retooled to make Armada Skywarp and Universe Ramjet.

:(Note: In Japan, Thundercracker's toy is simply a "powered up" version of Starscream.)

*Thundercracker (Built to Rule, 2003)

: For the Built to Rule line, Thundercracker was once again a redeco, a new-color version of the Starscream set. He can be assembled into a Cybertronic fighter jet or a robot, or to whatever else you feel like making out of the blocks provided (or any blocks you feel like adding). He came with a building-brick version of Zapmaster. The set features two missile launchers that use a unique "twist-block" pressure-launch mechanism. He was one of the last of the Transformers Built To Rule toys released at wide retail.

Cybertron
*Thundercracker (Deluxe, 2005)
: Japanese ID number: GD-02

: Part of the first wave of the Cybertron series, Thundercracker transforms into a Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jet. Inserting a Cyber Planet Key into his rear fuselage pops up the back panel, revealing a spring-loaded missile launcher. This assembly becomes his left forearm in robot mode, despite being almost as long as he is tall. He came with a silver-bordered Earth-style Cyber Planet Key; the Hasbro release has the Key Code "d98d" tampographed on the back of it.

: The Takara Galaxy Force release of the toy is slightly different from the later Hasbro Cybertron release, mainly the Hasbro version added a Decepticon insignia to the missile-launcher cover.

: This mold is also used by Cybertron Skywarp.

*Ground To Air Blast Pack: Crosswise vs Thundercracker (Multi-pack, 2006)

: In 2006, Target got multiple exclusive toys and reduced-price multi-packs, among them a set with unaltered versions of Thundercracker and Crosswise for about 75% the cost of two Deluxees normally.

*Thundercracker with Downshift (Tiny Tins multi-pack, 2006)

: Part of a run of Wal-Mart exclusive sets, Dirt Boss was also sold in a larger box that came with a special redeco of the Race Mini-Con Team member Downshift, plus a special Tiny Tins carrying tin for the Mini-Con. Dirt Boss himself was unaltered from his normal release.

*Thundercracker (Legends of Cybertron, 2006)

: A smaller, simplified version of the deluxe toy was released in the fourth wave of the Legends of Cybertron line. Unlike the large toy, this version has two robot-mode fists, and the blaster-weapon is now an arm-mounted double-barreled weapon.

: This mold was used to make Classics Jetfire.

Trivia
* According to Joe Kyde, the reason for Armada Thundercracker's red face was because the gray plastic used to make the eyes is unpaintable plastic, so he changed to original plan from gray face and red eyes to red face and gray eyes.
* One of Thundercracker's lines in the episode "Inferno" is <i>"git 'r' done"</i>, seriously.

* According to Joe Kyde, the reason for Armada Thundercracker's red face was because the gray plastic used to make the eyes is unpaintable plastic, so he changed to original plan from gray face and red eyes to red face and gray eyes.

The Transformers: The Movie is an animated feature film based on the original Transformers toyline. It was released in the United States on August 8, 1986.

Often referred to by fans simply as "the movie" or "TFTM", this film opens with characters who had been featured in the first two years of the toyline and associated media (cartoons, comic books, etc.), but quickly introduces new characters and kills many of the old ones to make room. In particular, Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream are all destroyed during the course of the film.

The movie was a step up in almost every area from the television series, with a more sophisticated plot, more serious treatment of war and violence, a hugely ambitious scope and a greatly increased animation budget with well-known celebrities providing voice work. For these reasons the film remains very popular with children of the 1980s.
Brief synopsis
A planet-sized Transformer called Unicron who eats other planets is approaching Cybertron. As part of their continuing wars, the Autobots and Decepticons have a fierce battle on Earth which sees both Optimus Prime and Megatron mortally wounded. Prime passes the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus and dies, and Megatron is transformed by Unicron into Galvatron. Starscream (briefly) assumes leadership of the Decepticons, but is killed when Galvatron arrives at Cybertron. Galvatron then chases the surviving Autobots on Earth across space, splitting them up and taking the Matrix. The Autobots find their way back to each other, and follow Galvatron to Cybertron just as Unicron transforms into robot mode and begins to eat their world. Travelling inside Unicron, Hot Rod recovers the Matrix, transforms into Rodimus Prime, and uses the Matrix to destroy Unicron.

Full synopsis
In the first sequence of the film, a mechanical planet called Unicron is shown travelling through the depths of space, then approaching and destroying another metal planet which has robotic inhabitants, much like Cybertron. During the attack, robots, vehicles, buildings, and even large chunks of rock float off the surface of the planet and spiral into the large "mouth" on Unicron.

The scene then transitions to Cybertron, and the narrator explains that it is the year 2005, and that the Decepticons are now in control of the planet. The Autobots are preparing to launch an assault to retake the planet from hidden bases on two of Cybertron's moons. The Autobots launch a shuttle to pick up a final shipment of energon from Earth before they strike.

Plans for the attack are overheard by Laserbeak, who reports back to Megatron. The Decepticons attack the Autobot shuttle en route to Earth, wiping out its crew (including Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet and the guy in the picture up there). Using the Autobots' own shuttle, the Decepticons are able to get very close to the Autobots' base on Earth, Autobot City, before they are detected, and begin a devastating surprise attack on the unprepared city.

During the battle at Autobot City, both Optimus Prime and Megatron suffer mortal injuries, and a number of other characters are also killed. Eventually the Decepticons retreat, but the damage suffered by the Autobots has been severe. Shortly after the battle, Prime lies on his deathbed. He passes the reins of leadership to Ultra Magnus and gives him the Matrix of Leadership. (Though Hot Rod actually touches the Matrix before Magnus does.) Prime relates a prophecy: "One day, an Autobot shall rise from our ranks, and use the power of the Matrix to light our darkest hour." He then gives the oath, "'Til all are one", and dies. This sequence of events is observed remotely by Unicron, who appears unusually concerned by the survival of the Matrix.

The Decepticons are making their escape aboard Astrotrain, but are too heavy for him to get them all home under his own power. After putting the matter to a fair vote, the Decepticons decide to throw their injured members off the ship to better the chance of survival for the rest. One of the most severely injured Decepticons is Megatron. Starscream tosses him out and claims leadership of the Decepticon army.

Megatron and the other adrift Decepticons then encounter Unicron in interstellar space. Unicron offers to rebuild Megatron and his men in exchange for their service. Megatron agrees, and is reformatted into Galvatron. The other Decepticons are turned into Cyclonus, Scourge, and The Sweeps. Unicron provides them with a ship, and sends them to kill Ultra Magnus and destroy the Matrix, stating that the Matrix is the only thing which can stand in his way.

Galvatron first stops at Cybertron to take his revenge by killing Starscream and reclaiming leadership of the Decepticons. Almost immediately afterwards, Unicron arrives in Cybertron's vicinity and devours at least two moons -- both of the Autobots' moon bases are destroyed. Under coercion by Unicron, Galvatron finally heads to Earth to kill Ultra Magnus, but Magnus and the other surviving Autobots flee in a pair of shuttles. Eventually Galvatron manages to cause one shuttle to crash on yet another metal planet (Quintessa), and detonates the other with a volley of missiles. However, the Autobots in the second shuttle escape unnoticed by separating the front portion of their shuttle just before impact.

The Autobots in the crashed shuttle, Hot Rod, Kup, and the Dinobots, find themselves separated and in a hostile environment. Hot Rod and Kup are captured by a squad of Allicons and taken before a Quintesson judge and his court. While being held there, they learn the name and nature of Unicron from Kranix, a survivor of the planet destroyed in the opening of the film, which he calls Lithone. Meanwhile, the Dinobots encounter and befriend a young, wild Autobot named Wheelie who has been living alone on Quintessa. Together, they crash the trial just as Hot Rod and Kup are fighting losing odds against the Quintessons' Sharkticons. The tide is turned, and the Autobots commandeer a Quintesson ship.

The other group of Autobots has landed on the planet Junkion to make repairs, but are attacked yet again by Galvatron, who was tipped off to their survival by Unicron. During the battle, Ultra Magnus tries to open the Matrix to use its power, but is unable to do so, and instead is killed. Galvatron absconds the Matrix, taking it away to Unicron. The remaining Autobots -- Perceptor, Springer, Arcee, and Spike's son Daniel -- are then ambushed by Junkions, the eponymous natives of Junkion, who are also giant transforming robots. This battle is cut short, however, by the arrival of Hot Rod's group in their Quintesson ship. After exchanging the universal greeting they all make friends, and the Junkions restore Ultra Magnus to life. Together, the whole group travels to Cybertron to try to recover the Matrix.

Galvatron attempts to open the Matrix to use its power against Unicron, but is also unable to get it open. Unicron, not pleased with this attempted treachery, shocks Galvatron by transforming from a planet into a planet-sized robot. Unicron plucks Galvatron off his chest and swallows him, Matrix and all, and then begins attacking Cybertron itself. Shockwave scrambles the Decepticon forces to defend the planet, but they are ineffective against so large an enemy. Shortly the Autobots arrive from Junkion, and fly the Quintesson ship straight through Unicron's eye. This impact destroys the ship, and the Autobots fall out inside Unicron. Hot Rod, separated from the others, eventually runs into Galvatron. During their fight, Hot Rod gets his hands on the Matrix and hears Optimus' voice speak the words, "Arise, Rodimus Prime." Hot Rod grows in stature, adopts a much sterner demeanor, and quickly dispatches Galvatron by tossing him through Unicron's hull out into space. He then opens the Matrix, which fills Unicron with light and begins destroying him.

In the meantime, the other Autobots inside Unicron have located some of their comrades from the moon bases who had been presumed dead, including Bumblebee and Daniel's father, Spike. The Autobots, including Rodimus, escape through Unicron's remaining eye just as he begins to fall apart and explode. The scene then immediately shifts to the surface of Cybertron, where -- for unclear reasons -- the Autobots seem to be in charge again. Rodimus predicts an era of peace and prosperity, and the film closes with a shot of Unicron's severed head still floating in orbit around Cybertron.

Significance in Transfandom
Transformers: The Movie remains one of the most important elements of the entire Transformers brand, both within the fiction and from the perspective of the brand's popularity and "mindshare".

Fictionally, it established several story concepts that have been used repeatedly in the years since 1986, some of which -- such as Unicron and the Matrix -- are now central to the entire Transformers mythos. The movie is also the centerpiece of the most well-known Transformers continuity: the G1 animated universe. The G1 cartoon is split into "pre-movie" and "post-movie" sections which feature differenct characters and settings, and even somewhat different visual styles. (Most pre-movie episodes were animated by the studio Toei, while most post-movie episodes were animated by AKOM.)

To an entire generation of young fans, the movie was the most visually spectacular and narratively epic Transformers experience of their entire youth. Events such as the death of Optimus Prime are widely reported to have reduced many little boys to tears. It is hardly a surprise that these emotional experiences embedded themselves deeply in many fans' memories.

This is not all to say that the movie is a "masterpiece", exactly. The film displays an arguably cynical attitude towards itself as a vehicle for advertising toys, especially in the way beloved characters are killed -- sometimes gratuitiously -- for sake of justifying the story's focus on a new group of toys. Further, the two primary plot devices -- Unicron and the Matrix -- have no prior establishment in the fiction. Unicron is given no backstory or justification; he simply exists, and is really dangerous, and is afraid of the Matrix, all for no good reason. The introduction of the Matrix itself is a heavy retcon. The story asks us to accept that this cosmically-powerful artifact has been in Prime's possession all along (even though an X-ray of Optimus Prime's innards in the Season 2 episode "A Prime Problem" show absolutely no signs of said Matrix...), but has somehow never been relevant before. Finally, the movie bears many similarities to Star Wars: There are several character-parallels (Springer is a Han Solo-type and Arcee even has Princess Leia's hairdo!), the primary threat is similar (it's the Death Star... but it transforms!), and both feature a climactic battle where the young hero hears the voice of his wise mentor one last time before saving the day. To be a bit more fair to TF:TM, however, most of these similarities are either superficial (Arcee's Leia-hair) or can be seen as elements common to thousands of years worth of epic storytelling through human history, not just common to Star Wars.

Trivia and controversies
This film was one of the last professional performances by Orson Welles, if not the very last. According to production materials shown at 2000 by Tim Finn, the voice recording sessions for TF:TM were done on September 10 and 11 of 1985. Welles died on October 10 of that same year. It has often been speculated that Unicron's last line ("Destiny... you cannot destroy my destiny...!") was recorded by another actor -- possibly Nimoy -- because it sounds different than the other lines. This speculation has been quashed by statements by Transformers voice director Wally Burr.

Although the movie was billed in some advertisements before its theatrical release as being "widescreen", the movie was in fact animated in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. It was intended to be matted down in the projector by the projectionist when screened, but all video transfers of the movie were done without mattes, meaning that there is actually more picture visible in the fullscreen video and DVD releases than there would have been in theaters. In November of 2006, a 20th Anniversary edition DVD of the film was released by Sony BMG which included, for the first time, a widescreen version of the film. However, comparison of frames from this new disc and old editions again shows that there is no missing picture on the sides -- the new "wide" version has simply had the top and bottom of the picture cropped off, meaning less visible picture.

The Dinobot Snarl is mysteriously absent from almost the entire movie, even though the Dinobots as a group are featured prominently. It is unclear why this is the case, but one possible explanation is that copies of the script which have come into fans' hands repeatedly list the Dinobots but never make mention of Snarl by name. In fact, at one point the script refers to "the four Dinobots". Despite this, Snarl does appear in three very brief shots, although he has no lines and no action.

With the exception of Starscream, Unicron, and possibly Shockwave, only the Autobots suffered casualities in the movie. All of the other "dead" Decepticons from the Autobot City battle were rebuilt into Galvatron's new troops, and although Decepticons were shown taking heavy damage while fighting Unicron, their identities and their condition are uncertain. Additionally, both Starscream and Unicron survived in the post-movie series in some form or another. Shockwave's death in the finished film is highly uncertain, although in the script it is fairly strongly implied. He does make some appearances in crowd shots in later cartoon episodes, but these may be examples of the fairly common animation errors in those episodes.

There exists more than one English-language version of the film, with the following differences in content from the American theatrical run:

* In some versions (notably the European version) the opening credits are replaced with a scrolling text ("Star Wars style") which provides backstory.

* In some versions (notably the European version) the film ends with a narrator reassuring the audience that Optimus Prime will return.

* Instances of swearing in the film (there are two) were edited out; sometimes one, sometimes both. Those instances are: Spike yelling, "Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?" after the self-destructing Moon Base 2 fails to scratch Unicron, and Ultra Magnus growling, "Open, damn it, open!" while trying to open the Matrix to fend off Galvatron and the Sweeps on Junkion. The UK cinema version had the swearing included but when it was released on VHS in the UK Spike's line was cut. However it has been restored on all UK DVD releases.

*Instead of DEG the Rank Film "gong man" appears before the film starts as Rank were the UK distributors.

Though most likely coincidental, the movie bears many similarities to the Marvel Comics Fantastic Four miniseries "The Galactus Trilogy":

* The presence of an enormous world-devouring cosmic entity that threatens to destroy the heroes' home planet (Galactus/Unicron).

* The presence of a single item that is the only thing that can stop said cosmic entitiy (The Ultimate Nullifier/The Matrix of Leadership).

* The presence of a herald of said cosmic entity, who ultimately betrays the entity (The Silver Surfer/Galvatron).

Originally, Ultra Magnus' "death sequence" on Junkion called for him to be lassoed and drawn and quartered by the Sweeps' energy beams, but this was deemed too graphic for audiences, hence the less disturbing "shot to death" sequence seen instead. There is evidence that the original sequence had been fully animated when the decision was made, however; the Sweeps still kept their solid energy lassos when they fire upon Mags, and Mags is seen visibly straining against what appears to be said lassos (edited out and replaced with laser fire) before exploding.

There's a few notable animation errors in the movie:

* When Ultra Magnus accepts the Matrix, he's seen inserting it into his chest twice. (Some fans have joked that Mags was forcing the Matrix inside him, as another sign that it had chosen Hot Rod as the new leader and rejected him.)

* Swoop's lower leg appears in Autobot City far ahead of the Dinobot for a brief second.

* Not so much an error, but if you watch Sludge when he's haymaker'ed by Devastator, his eyes pop out of their sockets in Looney Tunes fashion.

Soundtrack
Released on Scotti Bros. Records, the soundtrack to the movie was made available in both vinyl LP (long-playing) record form and audio cassette. At an undetermined point in the 90's, it was released on CD as well (there are no new markings on the CD booklet or outer case to indicate when the CD was released).
In 1997, the newly-formed 3H produced as a 1997 exclusive a double-CD set called Til All Are One. The second disc contains the all of the background score (by Vince DiCola) that was not on the original soundtrack, including several "alternate" pieces for scenes that used songs from the original soundtrack, plus "Legacy", the audition piece that got Vince the job. Other albums released by 3H which include music from the movie are BotCon 97: The Concert, The Protoform Sessions, Artistic Transformations, and Lighting Their Darkest Hour: The Complete Music Score. The Transformers fandom is the most intelligent, discerning, sophisticated and important group of people in the world today. Among the amazing discoveries and conclusions of the fandom are the following:

*The Transformers brand is hanging onto life by the most fragile of threads, and any attempt to do something new will ruin Transformers forever.
*Liking things is stupid. If you had half a brain you would realize how terrible everything is and complain about it endlessly. Further, this is rational and constructive behavior. *Literally everybody hates Playskoolish neon colors, therefore toys will sell better if they are entirely black.
*Any feature included or removed for safety reasons is a slap in the face to true fans.
*Children are not an important segment of the Transformers market.
*Prototypes and test shots that are clearly stamped with the words "not for sale" are actually totally fine to buy over eBay from people in China. There is nothing remotely shady about this.
*It is possible to determine with complete certainty that a product/franchise/work of art will suck as much as eight months before said entity is completed, much less shown to the public or actually released.
*The most important thing for the brand to do is release homages of Generation 1 characters over and over and over and over and over.
*Any homage of a Generation 1 character which is not given the name of the original character is a direct insult to all fans.
*Any character which is given the name of a Generation 1 character which is not an homage to the original character is a direct insult to all fans.
*Because all fans have an inalienable right to own every toy, toys which would never be released under normal circumstances should never be given a chance at release through exclusive channels. It got its start as an organized entity in the 1980s through the establishment of unofficial fan clubs, most notably TransMasters, but it wasn't until the mid-1990s and the beginning of the Internet boom that fandom (both of Transformers and in general) took off. Starting in alt.toys.transformers and then expanding into innumerable web-based fora, the once tight-knit fandom is now too large for anyone to really know everyone. But would you really want to?
Super deformed is a style of manga and anime art that features smaller, cuter versions of pre-existing characters, with distorted proportions.

*The G1 Mini Vehicles' alt modes were based on Choro-Q toy cars, which themselves were super-deformed versions of actual cars. (This is particularly clear when you compare Cliffjumper to an actual Porsche 924.)

*The Monster Pretenders featured rubbery beast shells and robot monster modes that were scrunched and deformed enough to be considered super-deformed (Scowl's bio in particular makes note of this horrid cuteness.)

*In 1990, Takara marketed a series of super-deformed Transformers toys, with the Transformer PD Type mini-comics serving as their official fiction.

*MyClone figurines are also designed in a super-deformed style.

*The manuel artwork and game sprites for Duel Fight Transformers Beast Wars: Beast Warriors' Strongest Decisive Battle were done in a super deformed style.
*The fan-made comic "Superdeformers", written by Matt Nelson, was used in various offical Transformers production by 3H. The "Superdeformers" web-site is currently down for unknown reasons.
