An Energon Harvester was used by the Ancients to harvest energon. As energon flows in the bodies of all Transformers, the Harvester can be a deadly weapon in Decepticon hands.
When the Autobots detected an energon vein in Greece, Bulkhead and Miko went to investigate. There they spotted a painting of a god wielding the Energon Harvester and figured one must be on Earth. Bulkhead encountered Breakdown at the construction site, which meant the Decepticons also knew about the Harvester. After some online searching, Raf found an identical orb in a museum, which Optimus Prime confirmed to be genuine.

Team Prime surrounded the museum, while Ratchet GroundBridged the children into the museum to steal the Harvester. But Knock Out and Breakdown attacked the Autobots, Soundwave snatched the Harvester from the kids, and Miko was arrested. Bulkhead deduced Starscream would return to Greece to harvest the untapped energon source. Starscream had already demonstrated its power by absorbing the life from a Vehicon and was harvesting the energon when Bulkhead arrived. The Decepticon attempted to use it to kill Bulkhead, but he grabbed onto it, causing it to overload. Bulkhead threw the Harvester into the air, where it safely exploded.

Later, Agent Fowler gave a replica of the Harvester (made by Ratchet) to the museum and got Miko out of trouble with the security guard. Deus ex Machina
Fred Tatasciore
Metroplex had been lying dormant in what would become Autobot City for thousands of years, and inadvertedly became a part of the battlefield when Megatron attacked the Ark. After pulling a switch or two, Autobot leader Optimus Prime observed the interior of Metroplex constantly shifting and transforming to accomadate him. After using a turret to help fight the Decepticons, Optimus found himself herded to a mysterious bright light by the shifting interior. Sensing a Cybertronian prescence, Optimus desperately ordered the entity to help the Autobots in their time of need. After a final switch, an entire city began to transform into an immense, powerful Autobot - Metroplex, who had heeded the call of the Last Prime.

Metroplex's prescence on the battlefield proved invaluable to the struggling Autobots. The titan easily wiped out much of the Decepticon army, including the deadliest of foes such as tanks. Metroplex would launch a devastating air strike on whatever target Optimus marked for destruction, and the colossus was able to wipe out Megatron's equally massive guns that were giving the Autobots a hard time. However, just as he was to destroy the last of the towers, it shot Metroplex point blank in the chest, felling the mighty giant. Fearing for the worst, Optimus pushed on, but was captured by the Decepticons, and brought to Megatron, who mocked and berated the helpless Autobot leader.

However, the villain gloated too much, and Metroplex revealed his survival by ominously approaching from the back of Megatron's base. After breaching - alright we'll be honest, crushing - the walls of the base, the Decepticons were quick to back away from the huge threat, but Megatron ordered them to stand their ground. It was at this point that Metroplex had enough of the tyrant, and crushed him several times with his enormous fist, killing Megatron to the shock of the Decepticons, who were soon led in a retreat by Starscream. Unfortunately, the Energon used to fuel Metroplex and the Autobots' defense of Autobot City drained their supply, preventing the Ark from being launched. Still, Optimus was glad to have an ally like Metroplex on their side.

Days later, after the Autobots located another source of Energon - only for it to be halved thanks to the Decepticons - Metroplex offered to sacrifice his life, donating the Energon inside him to give the Ark enough juice to launch. Optimus protested, but Metroplex had made his choice. Connecting his Spark to the Ark's fuel tanks, there was enough Energon to launch the ship. The heroic titan collapsed for a final time, but was happy to see the Autobots finally leaving Cybertron, and in his dying moments, Metroplex's last words were, "'Til all are one."

Optimus sadly swore that Metroplex's sacrifice would not be in vain.
:Galactic transports are a type of spaceship from the War for Cybertron portion of the Aligned continuity family.
Galactic transports were used by the Autobots to evacuate Cybertron.

Games
Transformers: War For Cybertron (Xbox 360/PS3)
After learning that the core was corrupted, and Cybertron could no longer sustain life, Optimus Prime ordered the evacuation of Cybertron by all Autobots. Several galactic transports were seen taking off into space, but Trypticon, in his cannon mode, began to destroy the fleeing vessels. Optimus ordered Silverbolt and his Aerialbot squadrons to take the gun offline so that the ships could continue their journey. The Autobots kept the rest of their transports grounded until the threat was destroyed, an action that prompted Megatron. After Trypticon was thought defeated, the rest of the galactic transports safely took off from the planet. Optimus Prime then announced to the remaining Autobots that he had commissioned a new galactic transport for them, an Ark, for their evacuation and journey through the stars. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)

"Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" (Xbox 360/PS3)
Megatron blamed Optimus Prime for the shutdown of Cybertron, and launched a ruthless assault on the ruins of Iacon, with a main objective to destroy the Ark. Powerful warp cannons were mounted onto the destroyed buildings of the city, and began firing on the Autobot vessel. However, Optimus was able to destroy the cannons with the help of the newly activated [[Metroplex (FOC)|Metroplex), leaving the Ark unharmed but without a sufficient energon supply to fuel it. Later, Metroplex insisted that his own energon be utilized to launch the Ark to a space portal, reported by Grimlock to be the work of Shockwave. However, Megatron pursued the Autobots in Trypticon, who was now permanently offline and locked in his new alt-mode, the Nemesis. But, the portal was rapidly becoming unstable and sucked both ships into it.

Notes
*In the Nintendo DS version of War for Cybertron, the ships used to evacuate Cybertron were referred to as "arks".
*According to Megatron, galactic transports were originally designed as "cargo haulers."
Skywarp, revived since his demise in Tokyo, missed Cybertron badly. In particular, he missed the days in Kaon, when the Decepticons were still a proper army and he could steal small things from his fellow soldiers without everyone immediately suspecting him. Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 14
Dreamwave Generation One continuity
Far from the civilized metropolitan titans of the north half of the planet, Kaon was inhabited by a radical citizenry unsatisfied with the Autobot High Council and its maintained status quo. It was here that the industrial creations, the smelting pools, were first used to melt down living beings, a practice other city-states found horrible and barbaric. Disaffected, unruly, and thirsty for slaughter, Kaon was an obvious location for the fomenting of Megatron's underground Decepticon movement.
Kaon was known to be one of the worst places on Cybertron. Thus, Sentinel Prime was operating out there at the time Megatron and his fellow miners had chosen it as their place of hiding. One of Kaon's notable features was a series of underground gladiatorial combats run by Clench...until Megatron killed him and took over the games as a method of recruiting gladiators into the Decepticon army. After being freed by Starscream and Soundwave, the Decepticons launched an attack on Kaon and took control of the city, using it as their base to direct the campaign against the Autobots. The Transformers: Megatron Origin As the first city to fall to the Decepticons, Kaon marked the beginning of the Fall of the First Five Cities. Life After the Big Bang
Built on a plateau three times the size of Iacon, Kaon was the industrial heart of Cybertron, where nameless members of the low castes toiled endlessly. It was a dark, smoking mess of a city that was impossible to navigate without the Communication Grid. The High Council ignored the emerging gladiatorial combat in the areas surrounding Kaon, acknowledging it was the inhabitants' only escape in their lives. A champion taking the name Megatronus emerged. This Megatron took control of the gladiators and formed the Decepticons. Kaon is the Decepticons' capital city and home to a huge prison complex where Autobot captives, including Autobot leader Zeta Prime are held. Megatron put Soundwave in command of the Kaon Prison Complex. The prisoners there are loaded onto Decepticon Dropships. The Dropships take the prisoners to Kaon Prison, where they are either escorted to cells, executed by Titans, or sent to 'recycling', where the prisoners are thrown into a strong current and crushed in a masher. The city houses huge industrial buildings, which may include weapons manufacturing, or experimental labs. During the Decepticon assault of Iacon, Soundwave raided an Autobot base, and his troops took prisoners and energon. When Optimus, Ratchet, and Bumblebee arrived, he detected them, and ordered some troops to attack and destroy them, while he and the other Decepticons left in a Dropship for Kaon with the energon and prisoners. Transformers: War for Cybertron (games)
