It all started when a little kid who liked the live action movies had his butt hurt by some one who preferred robots over the new insectiod Transsformers. He cried, broke all of his new toys and said some dumb stuff on the internet about how he now hates Transformers so bad that he was going to buy so many Transformers Animated DVDs that they would make a fourth season (and thus dooming the world to subpar art and storyline). Unfortunately his Mom had noticed him smashing the toys she just bought him and shut off his internet...he has not been heard from since.

These bitter young people made their voices heard by preemptively denouncing the movie... not because it would [[Ruined FOREVER|ruin Transformers forever]], but because it would [[Kiss Players (franchise)|"rape their childhoods"]] by deviating from their rose-colored—and often incorrect—memories of the first two seasons of the original cartoon. The singularly unfortunate phrase "[so-and-so] RAPED MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!" quickly became one of the more memorable used by this group, and used in criticism by this group's detractors, in which it seems to have taken on a life of its own and overtaken the original usage... so it goes.

For some reason, many GEEWUNNERS were particularly incensed by the fact that [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] (the truck guy, not the tape guy) had flames painted on him, a detail that [[Michael Bay]] claims to have received death threats over. It is, alas, often used in this way by those who do ''not'' like Generation 1 and are seeking to insult those who do. It is revealed that the first [[Thirteen original Transformers]] created by Primus to crew his planetary form were all designated Primes. In addition to this designation, each was given a specific task or role in sustaining the multiverse.

[[Vector Prime]] was granted guardianship of space-time. The Prime who would become [[The Fallen]] was charged to oversee the force of entropy. [[Nexus Maximus|Another of these Primes]] was made the guardian of [[Rarified Energon]]. Logos Prime and Prima's function are still unknown.

These Primes are [[Multiversal singularity|multiversal singularities]] (like their creator, only one version of each existing across all realities).

The title of Prime is not an honorary rank but the title of the diabolical leader of the Autobots. [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]] stands as the current Prime. For now. [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]], [[Ultra Magnus (SG)|Ultra Magnus]] or [[Thunderclash (SG)|Thunderclash]] may very well usurp the title and position in the future.

Following the War of the [[Thirteen original Transformers|Original Thirteen Primes]], the [[Covenant of Primus]] decreed there would only be one Prime ruling Cybertron at a time. It was technically [[Primus]]'s right to appoint the Prime and bestow them the Matrix, but gradually his children became ignorant of his presence. It almost seems [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Sentinel Prime]] was the only Prime between the Age of the Primes and [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]], as he fought off the [[Quintesson]]s, established the [[Golden Age]] and tried to combat its decline by establishing the [[caste system]], to [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]]'s displeasure. Sentinel was unworthy of the Matrix, and the [[Core]] said it was only after his death that Optimus could receive it for being a Prime was not a status Trion or the High Council could grant. The civil war began and continues as [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] both want to be Prime and bear the Matrix. {{storylink|Exodus: The Official History of the War for Cybertron}}

In Xbox 360/PS3/PC version of ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron| War for Cybertron]]'', the [[Autobot High Council]] declare they exist to choose the Primes, and seemingly referencing the Thirteen, note they have watched as many Primes fell to their greed and pride.
