It has been stated in interviews that this is a new continuity and the character designs seem to be taking influence from a number of previous incarnations; mostly War Within, Transformers Animated and the live-action movies. ::::::: Something can still be a new universe while being part of an existing continuity family. [[Henkei! What's important to the wiki is whether this will be a new continuity family, not just strictly a new universe. New universes happen all the time. New continuity families are much more rare. --ItsWalky 10:37, 19 January 2010 (EST)
:::::::: The thing is, it is (and always has been) a bit of a subjective value judgement alot of the time. How much similarity to G1 do we need to make something definately G1? Or does it work the other way? How big a New Element (minicons, cyberkeys,) do we need to make it difinitively it's own ConFam? Authorial intent definately has to be part of it too. Anything that specifically calls itself G1 is obvious, and anything that seems to be trying to pick up the original G1 characters/situations themselves even if it's in new forms or directions, alla IDW (although even that can be tricky to judge, agaiin HOW MUCH change makes a break?)... When we have as little info as we do right now on WfC it's almost impossible to judge what it will become. Do we have an editorial policy (and if not should we?) saying "Something new that seems G1-ish IS, until we see differences enough to prove it's not," or vice-versa "anything new is to be considered it's own continuity until we've seen enough to feel if it's G1-continuity family?" A set plan either way might make these situations a bit less random in the future. ::::::::::::::lostcount: I would be highly surprised if WFC turns out to represent a whole new continuity family. We've already accepted too many retellings and revisions of G1 as being part of G1 for this one to fairly be split out, unless it has something that is an inescapable telltale mark of a separate confam, i.e. they're fighting for the Movie Allspark. "Its prehistory is very slightly different" will not be good enough, as is shown by the comfortable confam coexistence of FFOD, War Within, and Stormbringer. --Thylacine 2000 00:01, 21 January 2010 (EST)
By what you just showed, it'll be a part of the G1 Continuity family (I still question that its anything more than "influenced by it" I mean what constitutes a G1 Confam..yes IDW and Dreamwave are under it, but is the same true for an animated series? I mean honestly, If that were true, then Transformers Animated would be a part of the G1 Confam, and its not.) but shouldn't it have its own section near the bottom at some point, (for game, toys, series, etc.) sense apparently (and this is news to me) your link seems to state its based on its own upcoming series.--Chipmonk328

To me, this seems every bit as G1 as War Within - Yeah it branches out into it's own story but it's hard to deny that this isn't just as G1 as DW or IDW comics given the use of characters and story telling style. 220.233.21.27 08:55, 28 June 2010

I just played through the whole game - This game could not be any more G1 even if it tried harder. I don't see how this can be in the same continuity as TF:Prime when it's so undeniably G1. It belongs as part of the G1 continuity family not TF:Prime which appears to be it's own movie inspired continuity. The game is not like Animated in which it 'borrows and adapts' elements from G1, this game actually is G1 down to how characters are portrayed and roles they are assigned as well as the story telling structure. 220.233.21.27
:How do you know it's not like Prime? Character designs? Pah. I could use that strawman to declare the Don Figueroa era of the Ongoing an AU too, you know, or TF: Bumblebee being non-canon with said Ongoing. We know next to nothing about TF: Prime, you have no basis whatsoever to say it can't be just as heavily G1-inspired as WFC is. --Detour 04:57, 11 July 2010 (EDT)
How can you tell that it is? We had two conflicting official sources one saying that it is and one saying that it isn't. I rather go by what the game developers say than what Hasbro marketing says thank you very much. 220.233.21.27
:Well, that's your prerogative, but I'd think as Hasbro, the guys who license Transformers out to places like Atari and Activision and IDW, would know more about what fits where than Activision/High Moon Studios would. Perhaps the developpers initially wanted to go the "Generation 1" route, but then Hasbro saw the storyline and thought it fit just as well in "Prime" and decided to announce it as such to help promote the new show. --Detour 06:26, 11 July 2010 (EDT)

I have a feeling that when TF:Prime finally arrives it will make absolutely no reference whatsoever to WFC and at the end of the day it was just marketing guys talking. I played the game, the game is clearly designed to be G1 despite what Hasbro may blab on about. Same dude who can't sign his posts
But all the interpretations are regarded as G1. Animated isn't G1, Unicron Trilogy isn't G1 and so on. It is very clear what is G1 and what isn't. 220.233.21.27

Sign your posts! And look, right now, Hasbro is the authority on Transformers. Right now, Hasbro declares WFC part of Prime. Right now, Prime is not G1. So right now, we have WFC separate from G1. If ever the line is blurred or those statements clearly contradicted, we'll give you a call and change it. Until then, this is the safest and easiest way for us to document the new stuff and it's not going to get changed because one anon doesn't agree. Just voicing my views not requesting change. No need to be so defensive and I am yet to see anything solid from Hasbro saying that this is part of TF: Prime and something tells me that we won't. Personally I believe that calling WFC as part of TF:Prime is premature.
New Characters' pages?
VM: Would I ask why nearly all characters except Demolishor are linked to their G1 incarnation? Why not make a new one WfC?
: We're not exactly sure how WFC/Prime is going to play out continuity family-wise. Until then, it's safest to link to their G1 versions. --ItsWalky 16:00, 8 April 2010 (EDT)
::VM: I see, but I think personally they should have their own, but its only my opinion :)
VM: I still think new pages are needed, as for example Demolishor got one because he wasnt presented in G1, and it seems WFC isnt fully related to the G1. 89.235.30.9

:The main problem with doing that is that we aren't quite sure of their continuity yet, we don't want to make completely new pages and then find out "Oops, they're part of G1" and then have to merge their pages together. VM: I think that now its closer to a new continuity. Jetfire was during the war a Decepticon, not a Autobot. He joined to the Autobots on the Earth, while here he joined, or always was, on Autobot's side. I am not suggesting it to make these pages now, just there is a small piece of info which is for a new continuity.89.235.30.9
Most of them are clearly G1 characters so WfC info should go on their (G1) pages. Demolishor is clearly his UT character so his WfC info should go on his (Armada) page. No problem. - Starfield 18:13, 12 May 2010 (EDT)
:I'm pretty sure Demolishor is just an homage and not the same character as the guy from Armada (unless dimension-hopping was involved).
