On the run from the [[Decepticons]], [[Octane]] seeks asylum on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. While in a [[Decepticon Crypt|hidden tomb]] to fallen Decepticons, he encounters the ghost of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], who is still scheming in death.

Exiled from the Decepticons, the former Decepticon [[Octane]] now makes a living freighting scrap metal from planet [[Junkion]] for the Autobots. However, his past catches up to him when a vengeful Galvatron hires an alien bounty hunter, the [[Skuxxoid]], to assassinate Octane. Just after he leaves Junk, Octane's cargo ship is destroyed by a bomb planted by his would-be assassin. Fortunately Octane is merely blown away from the explosion and is rescued by a passing transport ship.

Enraged by this failure, Galvatron dispatches the Combaticons to track and eliminate the exile. Fearing for his life, Octane takes refuge with the Autobots on [[Earth]] and seeks the advice of his friend [[Sandstorm (Autobot)|Sandstorm]], who at first doesn't believe him. When they are ambushed and the Combaticons concentrate on Octane while leaving Sandstorm alone, however, the Autobot is convinced and the pair escape Earth in an Autobot shuttle.

The two triple-changers stop and refuel at a neutral alien space station, and use the time to discuss the situation at the adjoining diner. Octane shows off to Sandstorm, juggling energon cubes and doing other tricks (possibly in a vain attempted to get to second base with Sandstorm on the first date). The Skuxxoid has managed to track and is foiled in several attempts to do away with the wanted ex-Decepticon - partly due to incompetence, partly due to interference. Finally, the Skuxxoid caves in and attempts to attack Octane by tackling the back of the transformer's head. Octane grabs the alien and demands to know who hired him. When the Skuxxoid says he was hired by [[Galvatron]], Octane decides to go deeper into hiding.

He is followed to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] by [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]], [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]], and the [[Sweeps]]. When the attacking Decepticons pin him down, he seeks shelter in what appears to be a large drainage pipe, but turns out to be the secret entrance to a [[Decepticon Crypt]]. While there, he encounters the ghost of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], who conspires with Octane to take control of Cyclonus. Sucessful, Starscream then proceeds to "capture" the runaway Octane. However, they are pursued by the Autobots, intent on protecting Octane. Starscream somehow manages to convince [[Rodimus Prime]] to let them go, to the confusion of the other Autobots.

When "Cyclonus" brings the cowering Octane back to [[Charr]], Galvatron is initially furious that the exile was not destroyed. "Cyclonus" convinces Galvatron that the 'traitor' should be interrogated for any information he might know. At a faux display of torture, "Cyclonus" further convinces Galvatron that he has forced an Autobot secret out of Octane. The trio travel to a pre-arranged location earlier agreed to by Rodimus Prime and Starscream, trapping Galvatron in an ambush with many Autobots.

The ambush fails, however, and when Galvatron returns to see "Cyclonus" and Octane discussing his apparent demise, Starscream can't resist gloating, revealing his presence to the Decepticon leader, who proceeds to blast a hole into the possessed Cyclonus' torso. Starscream de-possesses Cyclonus the moment before the blast hits.

As Galvatron orders Cyclonus repaired to top working order, the obedient Scourge is revealed to be Starscream's new host body.

===Animation and/or technical glitches===
* When Galvatron is speaking in the opening sequence of the episode, only his throne is seen, the character is missing.
* While Octane is walking with Sandstorm outside Autobot City, he trips and falls over a rock. The rock actually jumps in front of Octane's foot causing him to fall down. Can't this guy catch a break?

* After Octane gets up and the pair begin to walk again, the background is of deep space, even though they are on Earth.

* When Octane and Sandstorm transform and go off joyriding, for some reason Sandstorm constantly emits exhaust fumes.

* None of the Combaticon lasers sound like traditional Decepticon laser weapons{{m-}}a common occurrence in Season 3, where the Decepticons regularly have old science fiction stock sound effects for their weapons. One particularly notable instance of this practise can be heard when Cyclonus fires upon Sandstorm. The laser sound accompanying this shot is sampled from a scene in ''[[Star Wars|The Empire Strikes Back]],'' in which C-3PO is shot to pieces by a Stormtrooper. The sample, however, fails to cut out 3PO's cry of "No!", and his voice can heard in this episode and each time the sound effect is used again, in "[[Only Human]]" and "[[The Rebirth, Part 1]]."

* Autobot City's wall is very, very low—low enough for Octane and Sandstorm merely to jump over when the Combaticons fire upon them.

* As Octane stuffs his face with "energon", he makes repeated "gulping" sound effects.

* When the Decepticons attack Octane on Cybertron, some of the laser fire coming towards Octane is coloured gold, like Autobot lasers.

* Starscream's marker in the Decepticon crypt only has his boots in every shot. Either this is an animation error, or somebody in the Decepticons had a sick sense of humour, as Starscream's legs were the only things left after Galvatron destroyed him. Given that the animation specifically shows one of the boots falling over, it appears to be the latter.

* The back of Starscream's legs are coloured light blue as he creeps up behind Cyclonus in the Crypt.

* After escaping the Combaticons, Sandstorm and Octane are suddenly flying to a space station on an Autobot shuttle. When did that happen?!?

* The "energon" served on board the alien space station/space trucker rest stop is drawn and coloured as small orange wedges, rather than the traditional glowing purple cubes.

* The Skuxxoid's laser pistol has a sight as he arms it, but is sightless when he aims it at Octane. The sight reappears in subsequent shots.

* It is unclear what happened after Starscream and Octane delivered Galvatron into Rodimus Prime's trap. Galvatron is surrounded and vastly outnumbered by the Autobots, but appears to escape by the end of the episode, albeit heavily damaged.

The series eschews the ever-continuing space opera storylines of the past few anime to return to the episodic approach of ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]''; each episode will be a standalone story, but with an overall story arc that stretches through the whole season. The focus is being put firmly on characterization, dynamic action, and humor.

The episodes center not only on the war between the [[Autobot]]s and the [[Decepticon]]s, but also on the Autobots' interactions with many of [[Detroit]]'s [[human]] supervillain denizens, including a [[Angry Archer|maladjusted marksman]], a [[Meltdown (Animated)|guy who can spit acid]], and a guy who [[Prometheus|looks good in a pimp suit]]. The idea is to present the Decepticons as more of an ongoing background threat instead of having them be repeatedly defeated each episode and look like bumbling fools. Rather, the arrival of a Decepticon in battle is supposed to be a big deal, requiring multiple Autobots working together to stop even a single one. The human villains will give the Autobots "everyday" threats--and no doubt their schemes will turn out to be the result of Decepticon treachery. Note that [[Doctor Arkeville|human]] [[Lord Chumley|adversaries]] [[Circuit Breaker|are]] [[Cobra Commander|not]] [[Abdul Fakkadi|new]] [[Lazarus|in]] ''Transformers'' continuity. However, humans as [[Hydra and Buster|major]] [[Overlord|threats]] is very uncommon.

Season 2 is already in the works, and seasons 3 and 4 are quite possible.

While the series is not a sequel to the recent [[Transformers (2007)|live-action movie]], they have many thematic elements in common, most notably the central role of the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark cube]] and the revelation that all modern technology has been reverse-engineered from the dormant body of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]. Hasbro also carried over some design elements from the live-action movie into Animated designs, including not just the aforementioned cube but also [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]]'s medical readout striped deco and [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]'s helmet. These are meant to be "connection points," helping kids who had seen the theatrical film but had no prior Transformers experience ease into understanding the new series.

==Synopsis==

The Decepticons celebrate the destruction of Autobot leader Optimus Prime. While Cyclonus laughs, Megatron and Starscream stay calm, regretting the victory (for different reasons). Acting glad, Megatron orders his crew to return to Cybertron.

In the Autobot base, the kids have trouble coming to terms with the death of Optimus, Fred openly crying. Rad understands that Optimus knew he would die, and he mourns that nobody on Earth would know that Optimus died to save all humans.

A week later, the Autobots are still sad, but repressing their sadness to get work done has increased tensions. Hot Shot gets frustrated with how passively the other Autobots have been handling Prime's death, and goes to the teleporter room to meet with Hot Shot. He recalls the time he accused Optimus of letting the Decepticons getting the upperhand by letting Starscream join the Autobots. Jetfire returns from his mission to the Decepticon's now-abandoned moon-base, and Hot Shot promptly demands Jetfire take him to space to vengefully hunt down the Decepticons.

The other Autobots arrive and try to stress how important it is that the spaceship be finished. But Hot Shot just tells his friends to shut up. Scavenger, insulted, throws Hot Shot to the ground. He commands Hot Shot to be silent as he drags the younger Autobot away. The two teleport away, and Jolt follows. The rest of the kids and Autobots are left to wonder what Scavenger intends to do.

Alexis determines Scavenger and Hot Shot to be on an Abandoned highway. There, Scavenger brutalizes Hot Shot, and demands he fights back. Hot Shot avoids most of Scavenger punches, but doesn't retaliate. The kids and Autobots watch as Hot Shot is thrown around. Hot Shot finally fights back when Scavenger mentions Optimus. When the two transformers press their weight against each other, Scavenger mentions that it was Hot Shot that made him switch to the Autobots. Between punches, Scavenger explains that Optimus had integrity, and that's why Starscream was allowed to join the Autobots.
Alexis, watching the fights with the Autobots (who refuse to help Hot Shot) figures out that Hot Shot blames himself for Optimus Prime's death.

Hot Shot retreas away from Scavenger, still convinced that Optimus needs to be avenged. Blurr enounters Hot Shot on the freeway, but Hot Shot escapes again. The kids try to reason with the Autobots that abusing Hot shot won't help Hot Shot overcome his own anxieties - but Red Alert is adamant that agressive therapy is needed.

Sideswipe blocks Hot Shot's path and prepares to open fire against his brother. The Mini-cons join in on forming the barricade, bringing Hot Shot to an advanced stop. Even Jolt abandons Hot shot to join the other Minis. Hot Shot remembers Optimus Prime's word about trusting the Mini-Cons. Thanks to the Mini-Cons, Hot Shot has a moment of clarity and recalls what the war of the Decepticons is about.

Hot Shot apologizes to the assembled Mini-Cons and Autobots. He wants to re-join and help in the fight against the Decepticons as part of the team again. With the Autobot's morale revitalized, Jetfire announces that he's making Hot Shot the new Autobot commander. Scavenger arrives and starts to take a swing at the new commander, but Hot Shot doesn't move an inch. Scavenger cuts his punch before hitting, and gives Hot Shot his approval.

Later that evening, Jetfire tries to give Hot Shot the Matrix, but Hot Shot declines to accept it. Instead, he announces that he'll only lead the Autobots until the team gets back to Cybertron. Working together, the team gets back to work and gets ready to stop the Decepticons.

'''Starscream''' is disillusioned by his leader [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]. It took a while for Starscream to come to grips with Megatron's faults, but there's no turning back. Megatron doesn't respect him, doesn't appreciate him, and would casually toss Starscream's life away if it got him something he wanted. If following Megatron is the school of hard knocks, then Starscream is the valedictorian -- but not without a few scars. Starscream may have once been compassionate, he may once have known what true friendship is, but all that has been replaced, scab for scab, with the lessons of Megatron's abuse.

Unwittingly, Megatron may have created a monster even he cannot ultimately control.

Starscream's nominal [[Mini-Con]] partner is [[Swindle (Armada)|Swindle]], thought he has been seen to work with [[Zapmaster]].

Accompanying Megatron's forces to [[Earth]], Starscream was deliberately made to be the last of the Decepticons to acquire a personal partner Mini-Con. Infuriated by this mistreatment, Starscream's resentment and hatred of Megatron made him a chink in the armor of the Decepticons that could be easily exploited by the manipulative [[Sideways]]. {{Storylink|Rebellion}}

Initially, Sideways coerced Starscream into a duel with Megatron, which he promptly lost. A short time later, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]], acting under the instructions Sideways, further exploited Starscream by making him the patsy in his latest plan. Starscream was given the [[Star Saber (Armada)|Star Saber]] and allowed to run riot to draw the [[Autobot]]s out of their base, but was then abandoned on the battlefield so that the other Decepticons could invade the base and steal the [[Requiem Blaster]]. {{Storylink|Sacrifice}}

Surviving to return to the Decepticon base, Starscream went on a rampage with the sword and disowned the Decepticons, siding up with the wary Autobots, not out of any desire to do good, but simply out of sheer hatred for Megatron. After a clash with [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] and a trip to [[Mars]] with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], Starscream befriended the Autobots' [[human]] allies, particularly [[Alexis]], and then gave the Autobots access to the Decepticon base, resulting in a raid that freed all the captive Mini-Cons. Starscream's defection was not a smooth process, however; he constantly clashed with his new teammates over morals and battle strategies, but nonetheless proved a capable, and on at least some level, willing Autobot. {{Storylink|Regeneration}} {{Storylink|Rescue}} {{Storylink|Mars}}

Soon thereafter, Sideways and Thrust approached Starscream, planting seeds of doubt in his mind. This eventually caused him to steal the [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom shield]] from the Autobots and return to the Decepticon fold (for a chance to defeat Megatron by working from the inside), giving the Decepticons possession of all three Mini-Con weapons. {{Storylink|Crack}}

As Megatron readied his new super weapon to attack Earth, Starscream began to suffer a serious moral crisis. He had returned to the decepticons but he still viewed those he'd left behind on Earth as his friends, and was torn between following orders, and a desire not to harm them. At times he found compromises, for instance, as Optimus led an attack to stop Megatron using the three minicon weapons, Starscream, currently battling Jetfire, spotted one of the decepticons sneaking up on Prime. Starscream then atacked Jetfire, allowing himself to be thrown away, and collided with the decepticon who would have attacked Prime.

Subsequently, Starscream was among the Transformers injured battling [[Nemesis Prime (Armada)|Nemesis Prime]], and who then received "[[Powerlinx]]" power boosts from their Mini-Cons. Starscream gained a new, blue coloration that he commented made him look like his contemporary, [[Thundercracker (Armada)|Thundercracker]], with disgust just ''dripping'' from his tone. Returning to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Starscream pursued Thrust into the depths of the planet when the turncoat tactician revealed his treachery by stealing the Requiem Blaster and Skyboom shield. Starscream took a fatal shot from the Requiem Blaster as he battled Thrust in the subterranean tunnels, but the Mini-Con [[High Wire]] used his powers to restructure the timeline, saving Starscream (and throwing the human kids back in time, and.. well it's confusing).

Thrust escaped and delivered the weapons to Sideways and his master, [[Unicron]], presently disguised as Cybertron's moon. Following Thrust through a warp gate and briefly reuniting with Alexis, Starscream entered the belly of the beast along with Hot Shot and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]], but the unlikely trio were stymied by Unicron's [[Bug Drone|internal defenses]] and failed to stop Sideways from using the weapons to begin Unicron's reactivation.

Megatron - now Galvatron - was unwilling to acknowledge Unicron's threat, dismissing it as an Autobot trick, but Starscream knew the threat was real, and that only united under a true leader like [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] - whose strength of character and nobility had touched Starscream during his time with the Autobots - could the Transformers hope to stop him. To show Galvatron the error of his ways, he challenged him to a duel in which he allowed Galvatron to run him through with the Star Saber. Galvatron realized what happened and demanded to know what possessed Starscream to do such a thing.

Starscream told him that he tried to gain Galvatron's respect, but nothing was ever good enough, no matter how many battles he fought, his leader always found fault. Optimus Prime treated his men with respect, and was thus a leader of integrity, unlike Galvatron. But that didn't matter anymore, and after tearing the Star Saber out with his bare hands, Starscream turned his full firepower onto Unicron. The Chaos Bringer promptly obliterated him, to the shock of both Galvatron and Optimus Prime. When the dust settled, Galvatron stood reflecting upon Starscream's last words, and as a gesture, handed his enemy the Star Saber.

Unfortunately, Sideways ran off with it two seconds later. But it's the thought that counts. {{Storylink|Cramp}}

Ten years after Starscream's death, when Megatron seized control of Unicron's body by ousting its former occupant, the alien being [[Alpha Quintesson]], the evicted extra-terrestrial needed an assassin to eliminate Megatron so that he could return to his original task of recreating the worlds destroyed by Unicron. Using what little [[energon]] he had left, Alpha Q recreated another victim of Unicron - Starscream. However, Alpha Q ran out of energon before the process could be completed, leaving Starscream incomplete - his memory blank, and his body unstable, constantly shifting from a physical to an ethereal form, able to teleport by "ghosting" from location to location. {{Storylink|Megatron Raid}}

Alpha Q unleashed Starscream upon [[Ocean City]], where he battled Optimus Prime and then tracked Megatron back to Unicron's body. Even his awesome new abilities proved no match for the Decepticon leader, who used Unicron's power to brainwash Starscream, turning him into his right-hand man and most loyal subordinate. Rather ironically, Megatron now treated Starscream with far more respect than previously, even entrusting him with some of the most difficult missions.

Later, when Megatron became Galvatron again through immersion in a subterranean reservoir of [[super energon]] on Cybertron, Starscream was allowed to do the same as a reward for his loyalty; the influx of power stabilized his physical form, while allowing him to retain his teleporting powers. When Galvatron was subsequently possessed by Unicron, [[Primus]] used the super energon to create a sun, and Galvatron plunged himself into it in order to contain Unicron's spark within it. A decade after the [[Powerlinx Battles]] (as they were called), when [[Primus]]'s plan to contain Unicron's spark at the core of the energon sun failed, the sun collapsed, becoming a deadly [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] that threatened Cybertron. Along with Megatron, Starscream was freed from the sun, his mind his own once more and his body was refurbished into yet another new form.

Megatron began his campaign to acquire the legendary [[Cyber Planet Key]]s by stealing the map that showed their locations from the ancient Transformer, [[Vector Prime]] while Starscream created a diversion that kept the other Autobots busy. During the fight, Starscream sent [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]] tumbling into the black hole, but Vector Prime saved him at the last moment, opening a dimensional gate that teleported him to Earth. {{Storylink|Fallen (Cybertron episode)|Fallen}} The Autobots and Decepticons followed, and when it was deduced that the Cyber Planet Keys' focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], was hidden somewhere on the planet, Megatron charged Starscream with locating it while he focused on acquiring the Cyber Planet Key of [[Velocitron]], the Speed Planet.

Little did Megatron suspect, however, that Starscream had evolved a new ambition - now, he sought to oust Megatron and become the leader of the Decepticons, then the universe. Unlike [[Starscream (G1)|those with similar goals]], however, Starscream was smart enough to keep his intentions to himself, quietly working to achieve his goals through subtle means. While on a brief mission to attack [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] on Velocitron, Starscream was able to secretly switch Megatron's map with a copy that would play an important role later, and in an attempt to acquire more troops loyal to him, recruited the disillusioned Autobot [[Mudflap]] into his service on Earth. He later crossed paths once again with the mysterious [[Sideways]], who saw in him the best chance to achieve his own goals.

With the Autobots having successfully acquired the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys from Velocitron and the [[Jungle Planet]], Starscream realized it was time to step up his agenda. His duplicate planet map led Megatron and the other Decepticons to a dead sector of space and sealed them within a metal sphere, freeing Starscream to search for the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth itself. Encountering the Autobot monster-hunter, [[Crosswise (Cybertron)|Crosswise]] - one of the ancient Transformers whose ancestors had come to Earth with the Cyber Planet Key eons ago, who had recently been reactivated - Starscream discovered a vast underground holding cell in which Crosswise had imprisoned the ancient Decepticons of his time. {{Storylink|Trap}} Liberating them, Starscream took command of their forces and began a planet-wide search for the Cyber Planet Key, fighting back the Autobot and human military resistance. {{Storylink|Invasion}} The Autobots had Crosswise's ally [[Evac (Cybertron)|Evac]] recover the key from its hiding place in preparation for a retreat to Velocitron, but Starscream fought his way through the entire Autobot army and confronted Optimus Prime himself, successfully purloining the lock and all three keys by endangering the Autobots' human allies and drawing Prime out of the fight. {{Storylink|Retreat}}

Retreating to a small volcanic island in the South Pacific, Starscream attempted to harness the power of the Cyber Planet Keys. Megatron, meanwhile, had been freed by [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]], and immediately sought retribution, only to wind up clashing with the Autobots first. The extra time this afforded Starscream allowed him to tap the power of the keys and harness a fragment of the spark of Primus, growing to a gigantic height, complete with an ornate crown with which he crowned himself "Emperor of the Universe." With an extra power boost courtesy of his combination with [[Wing Saber]], Optimus Prime was able to defeat Starscream, but Sideways teleported his body away to the ancient starship [[Atlantis]] to recuperate. {{Storylink|Starscream (Cybertron episode)|Starscream}}

Not longer thereafter, when the Cyber Planet Keys were used by the Autobots to awaken Primus and transform Cybertron into his body, Starscream attempted a rather pitiful attack on the god, only to be swatted away like an insect. Later, when the Autobots assembled an energy convertor that would allow Primus to direct his energy against the black hole in beam form, Starscream sensed the release of power and had Sideways warp the Atlantis into range. Plunging himself into the energy beam, Starscream tapped into Primus' powers once more, and this time, grew to planetary size. Ultimately, however, he fared little better in combat with the creator, winding up bludgeoned into submission by Cybertron's moons and drained of his excess power. {{storylink|Titans}}

The discovery of the fourth Cyber Planet Key on [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, set Starscream racing to acquire the key first, but Landmine reached it ahead of him and was able to use its power to pay him back for past indignities by growing to his size and pummeling him. {{storylink|Optimus (Cybertron episode)|Optimus}} Subsequently, Megatron - now Galvatron - stole the Omega Lock and all four keys, and Starscream challenged Megatron him to a final battle for possession of them. Declaring that he had given himself over to his pursuit of power, and had no reason to hold back as he had nothing to lose, Starscream channeled unprecedented levels of energy; Galvatron did the same, and so incredible was the reaction when the two fully-powered combatants clashed released that space and time itself was rended by the final explosion. Starscream was hurtled into another dimension along with the interfering Sideways and [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]], leaving only his crown, floating through space. {{storylink|Showdown}}

Finally, after Galvatron had been defeated in battle within the black hole, Starscream's spirit reached out across the dimensions, apparently via the [[fire dimension]], to encourage him to fight on, also leaving him with his crown (the same way Optimus was given Vector Prime's Sword).

As the Autobots made preparations to begin their new galaxy-spanning [[space bridge]] initiative, [[Wing Saber]] - having departed from the rest of the Autobots to continue with his "loner" lifestyle - radioed Optimus to report that he had found a lead on Starscream's trail and was pursuing it. Starscream was stationed in Antarctica, overseeing [[Decepticlone]] operations in recovering the [[Mini-Con storage panel]]s found in the area, using a human research center they overran as his base of operations. When the Autobots ventured too close, Starscream attacked (blowing up the hangar he was holed up in first), but was shot out of the sky and left for dead.

Having survived his initial defeat, Starscream followed the Autobots to Alaska. There he collided his starship into a mountain in an attempt to crush them, but the Autobots escaped unscathed. This also gave them the chance to infiltrate the downed ship and free the captive Mini-Con [[Aftershock]] from the control room. Starscream used his null laser cannons at full power in an attempt to finish off his foes, but only succeeded in cutting the rock face below the ship, which collapsed and sent the precariously balanced ship plunging into the valley below. The impact of the crash buried the bow deep into the earth, forcing the Autobots to climb their way up and out to the surface.

When the Autobots pulled free from the buried ship and got back to ground-level, Starscream attacked again. But this battle too ultimately ended in defeat, leading Optimus Prime to interrogate him as to the whereabouts of Megatron. When Starscream refused and attempted to fire his functional null ray at point-blank range, Optimus knocked him unconscious with a well-aimed punch. He then ordered Red Alert to hack the treacherous Decepticon's warp transponder, which led them to Megatron's [[Pacific Island]] base.

==Summary==
Megatron creates a velociraptor clone based on the DNA of the [[Maximal]] [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], [[Clone One]], which posesses a copy of Dinobot's mind.

Terrorsaur attacks the real Dinobot while on patrol and buries him in a cave-in. Clone One is sent to infiltrate the [[Axalon (BW)|Maximal Base]] in his place, but fails to convince [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]] to immediately attack a fictional Predacon camp in [[Grid Omega]]. Primal instead sends the clone and [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] to fix the cam's exact location.

Rattrap transforms to attack the alleged base and ''almost'' discovers the Clone's inability to transform, but stands down when the clone reminds him this is a ''recon'' mission. Rattrap is puzzled by this uncharacteristic show of restraint, but stands down. While crossing an open lava flow, Clone One kicks the bridge out from under Rattrap, apparently sending him to his death.

Clone One returns to the Axalon (now crewed only by Optimus Primal) and fakes an injury, telling Primal that they discovered the Predacon camp under cover of a stealth device and Rattrap is trapped. Despite having just received a report from [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] that [[Grid Omega]] shows no signs of Predacon activity, Optimus Primal activates [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]] and leaves to rescue Rattrap.

Clone One struggles to deactivate the shield without Dinobot's authorization codes. Meanwhile, the real Dinobot, who has freed himself from the cave-in, returns to the Axalon and deactivates the perimeter shield. Clone One believes he's finally succeeded and summons Megatron.

Primal and Cheetor rendezvous in Grid Omega, where they pick up Rattrap's trail. Rattrap, who landed on a chunk of rock on the lava flow, leaps fo rhis life when the flow becomes a lava waterfall. He then [[Wikipedia:Rocket jumping|grenade jumps]] back to stable ground, which draws Cheetor and Primal.

The two Dinobots come face to face and are momentarily baffled as their identical reflexes cause them to mirror one another's reactions. Clone One realizes the situation first and attacks, but Dinobot transforms and challenges his clone to a fight. Discovering that his double cannot transform, Dinobot return to Beast Mode and the two fight on equal terms. The clone is losing ground, but a lucky blow appears to knock Dinobot unconscious. Clone One eagerly goes to meet Megatron, not realizing that Dinobot was [[Wikipedia:Playing possum|playing possum]]...

Dinobot poses as his clone and greets Megatron outside the base and flatters his ego while discovering his plan to ambush the Maximals as they return from Grid Omega then use their own defense grid to finish them off. Dinobot activates the perimeter shield just as Megatron is walking through it, shocking him badly. Megatron initially believes the clone has betrayed him just as Dinobot did, but is cheered to learn that's not the case. With the arrival of the other Maximals, Megatron retreats.

The Maximals survey the damaged command center in dismay and inquire what happened to the clone. Dinobot informs them that it is gone for good...and was 'quite tasty.'
