Slugfest scattered after [[Wheeljack (SG)|Wheeljack]]'s disastrous attack on [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]]. [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] and [[Sideswipe (SG)|Sideswipe]] tracked him down in an effort to keep the Dinobots out of the [[Autobot]]s' hands. After a brief battle with [[Goryu (SG)|Goryu]], who was protecting Slugfest, the [[Decepticon]]s added both Dinobots to their roster via restraining bolts and brain upgrades.

Slugfest was pleased with his new masters, but was relieved when [[Grimlock (SG)|Grimlock]] arrived to escort the captured Dinobots to a [[Omega Terminus|secret place]]. {{storylink|Dungeons & Dinobots}}

Starscream was worried when he didn't find Slugfest and [[Overkill (SG)|Overkill]] in the Dinocon pens where they should have been. After a few moments of frantic searching, he discovered two octaltrack data cartridges. Starscream was taken aback when the cartridges transformed into the missing Dinocons. Upon further examination, Starscream and [[Bombshell (SG)|Bombshell]] discovered that all of the captured-and-reprogrammed Dinobots suddenly had [[spark|embers]] and the ability to [[Transformation|transform]].

[[Soundwave (SG)|Soundwave]] took Slugfest and Overkill along with his usual complement of [[Decepticon Mini-Cassette|tapes]] when he boarded the ''[[Nemesis (SG)|Nemesis]]''. {{storylink|Do Over}}
