==Synopsis==
Somewhere in space, a drifting Autobot spaceship receives a message from [[Optimus Prime (RB)|Optimus Prime]] directing them to [[Earth]]. The ship automatically changes course and eventually touches down in a military base. The four members of [[Rescue Force Sigma-17]] emerge and are greeted by Optimus himself, who informs them that [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] is no longer the [[Autobot]]s' home.

On the island of [[Griffin Rock]], [[Cody Burns]] is biking to school when his [[Charlie Burns|dad]] pulls up alongside in the old police car, which is soon to be replaced with a new car as part of the town's function as a hi-tech testing ground. Cody wants to test drive the new vehicles, but the rest of his family points out they're for grown-ups.

Optimus tells the new arrivals that he has a new mission for them: to live with a [[human]] family and learn more about Earth, but they must do so disguised as normal machines. He gives them rescue vehicles to [[scanning|scan]], though [[Blades (RB)|Blades]] is unenthusiastic when he discovers the [[alternate mode]] he's ended up with flies. Optimus introduces them to Chief Charlie Burns, the only human who knows the [[Rescue Bots]]' true nature.

That afternoon, Cody arrives at the dedication, where he meets [[Frankie Greene]] and her father, [[Doc Greene]], in the audience, though Frankie's more interested in the new exhibit of robot dinosaurs at the [[Griffin Rock Natural History Museum|museum]]. Chief Burns introduces the gathered crowd to the Rescue Bots, describing them as new hi-tech robots which will work with him and his family as a rescue response unit. When a butterfly lands on [[Boulder]]'s face, the Autobot instinctively goes to shoo it away, but is stopped by [[Heatwave (RB)|Heatwave]]. However, Cody's suspicions are already raised. When Cody jumps up and knocks on Boulder's foot, he's told to get lost by [[Huxley Prescott|a reporter]]. The press photos are interrupted when word comes in of a fire at the Natural History Museum.

Burns and his rescue squad head to the museum, although [[Dani Burns|Dani]] discovers her helicopter doesn't seem to like flying too high. [[Chase (RB)|Chase]] begins clearing the humans from the area, though is confused when a couple of Egyptian mummies fail to comply. [[Graham Burns|Graham]] is bemused when he tells Boulder to move some planters and the Autobot responds that it would ruin the aesthetics. They manage to get the fire out, and Graham locates the cause: a short in one of the robotic dinosaurs. While he's fixing it, Cody sneaks into the museum, having followed the team on his bike. He's therefore present to witness Heatwave saving Chief Burns and Graham from a falling dinosaur head. Burns explains it as Heatwave having been left in rescue mode, and [[Kade Burns|Kade]] is glad to take the credit. As they leave the museum, the eyes on a short-circuiting animatronic ''Tyrannosaurus rex'' light up ominously!

That night, back in the fire station, the Rescue Bots take a lift down to a [[Cold War (history)|Cold War]] bunker underneath the station. Upstairs, Cody excuses himself from dinner with his family and heads downstairs, where he catches the Rescue Bots complaining about their new gig. Heatwave has just decided they're going to leave when Cody speaks up. The Rescue Bots realize their cover is blown, but after introductions are made, Cody shows them that there are many tunnels leading around the island from the bunker. They check out a giant robot movie at a drive in, and Cody attempts to teach the Rescue Bots how to act like "real" robots as well as give them tips on dealing with his siblings. Lessons are brought to a halt when they spot the robotic ''T. rex'' from the museum, now rampaging along the street. As it moves into the drive-in, Cody gets Chase to start his lights, and they establish the thing is attracted to light. They begin leading the creature to a safe area while Cody contacts his dad.

Burns takes the rest of his family in the old squad car, and they soon catch up with the Rescue Bots as the chase moves outside town. While they try to work out how to deal with the rogue dinosaur, Cody calls Frankie. Soon Boulder is extracting a jail cell from the police station, which Dani and Blades fly to the scene. Meanwhile, Chase keeps the ''T. rex'' occupied, and Kade and Heatwave wet some ground to make mud. Kade is shocked when Heatwave transforms, attracts the dinosaur's attention, and then throws it into the mud. Dani lowers the makeshift cage over it, allowing Cody to shut the dinosaur down.

The next day, they return the dinosaur to the museum, and Burns decides to get a picture of "his heroes" outside. After Heatwave tells Kade that Cody's part of the team or the Rescue Bots leave, Chief Burns reveals that they're not just robots, they're aliens.

Chumley kidnapped several of Prime's teammates using wildly implausible traps, and then invited Prime to come rescue them from some very easily escapable torments. Prime responded, traversing a "carefully researched" booby-trapped mock-up of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Who knew Cybertron had [[Hojoni]]?

The [[Decepticon]]s, having caught wind of Chumley's successful capture of multiple Autobots, sent the [[Triple Changer|Triple Changers]] [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] and [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] to negotiate with Chumley. However, the two ended up falling for some of the traps Prime didn't. Infuriated, Chumley chained up the Decepticons to deal with them later while he continued his attempts to capture Prime.

Prime was soon entrapped by Chumley's "greatest creation," a [[Chumley's arachnoid drones|giant robotic black widow spider]], but not for long. When Prime reached Chumley's castle and started chasing Chumley, the hunter freed his Decepticon prisoners to fight for him; instead, they tried to squish Chumley. The two were denied revenge by the appearance of the now-free Autobots and flew away, leaving Chumley to the Autobots' mercies.

The '''United States of America''' is a nation-state on the planet [[Earth]]. It is considered to be one of the world's two "superpowers," along with its rival, the [[Soviet Union]]. The American government is headed by a [[President of the United States|president]]. Interaction between that government and Transformers operating on Earth is a near inevitability in most dimensions of the multiverse, although whether that relationship is friendly, adversarial, or somewhere in between varies.

==States==
The United States of America consists of at least 50 "states", plus various territories, special districts, protectorates, hangers-on, puppet dictatorships and an astonishing number of [[wikipedia:Banana_republic|Banana republics]].

Unlike Cybertronian [[Polities of Cybertron|City-states]], the divisions of the United States are semi-independent administrative zones existing under an umbrella government, which may in turn have smaller cities ''within'' them, which may in turn contain "boroughs" (a sort of township), populated by very tiny humans.

The capital of the country is the [[Washington, D.C.|District of Columbia]], which is not part of any state.

==Government==

The government of the United States is divided between three branches — the Executive Branch (consisting of the President, Vice President, Cabinet and assorted officials), the Judicial Branch (the Supreme Court and all district and federal courts below them), and the Legislative Branch (Congress, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate). The individual powers of these branches within the government are outlined in the United States Constitution, but the powers of one branch are countered by a series of checks and balances. One example of this practice is that either house of Congress can propose, write and approve a bill which the President may or may not sign into law and which the Supreme Court may or may not declare valid under the Constitution.

Needless to say, this can get confusing.

Over time tensions seemed to ease, mainly due to the efforts of [[G.B. Blackrock]] who on several occasions attempted to convince the authorities of the truth of the Autobot/Decepticon conflict.

This ultimately seemed to meet with some success leading to Blackrock forming the [[Neo-Knights]], a group of superhumans that the President then sent to attack a battling [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] and [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] just before they were transported back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] by [[Primus]]. As this led to most Transformers being removed from the planet, tensions were finally eased.

The United States had a secret intelligence organization named [[Skywatch]], who investigated alien incidents and potential threats. In 1985, after discovering [[Laserbeak (G1)|one such alien]], they had their budget increased {{storylink|Spotlight: Soundwave|Spotlight: Soundwave}} — despite that the [[Pentagon]] and National Security Council seemed completely unaware that robotic aliens were operating on American soil. {{storylink|Devastation issue 3|Devastation issue 3}} We all knew security agencies have rivalries and don't like talking to each other, but ''damn''.

A year after the initial contact, America was hit with a devastating Decepticon attack. Millions of years ago, the Autobot starship [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] was shot down in a space battle with the Decepticon flagship ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]'' and crashed into the side of a volcano, in a region that would one day become North America. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part III)}}

Much, much later in 1977, the United States' National Aeronautical and Space Administration ([[NASA]]) launched the ''Voyager'' probes exploration probes. These primitive, unmanned spacecraft carried [[Golden Disk (Voyager)|golden disks]] depicting humans, the approximate location of Earth in space as well as containing imaging and audio data on Earth and its inhabitants. When the Autobots and Decepticons on the Ark awoke and resumed the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]], the Decepticon leader [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] somehow managed to capture one of the probes and encoded a message within for any descendants. The message was a desperate gamble: should the Decepticons fail to defeat the Autobots, their descendants must use the then-emerging [[Transwarp]] technology to go back to the past and eliminate [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] as he slumbered on the Ark in [[stasis lock]]. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 2)}}

Years in the future, a rogue [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] general named [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] stole the Golden Disk and travelled back in time, though he was loath to follow his namesake's instructions, preferring keep that plan as a last resort. Meanwhile, he used the information on the Golden Disk to destroy the valley where the meddlesome humanity was purported to have evolved from. This act of genocide was prevented by the heroic former Predacon [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], who gave his life to protect the valley, and all-but destroy the Disc. {{storylink|Code of Hero}}

The Decepticons were overthrown by the Autobots, but many cities are left devastated. The previous President is presumed dead, the Georgia town Savannah is the site of a large medical shelter for refugees, and [[NATO]] has military command.
