Scattershot
:Scattorshot is an Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

A former computer-game programmer, Scattorshot quickly became Optimus Prime's go-to bot for computer work. But the nervy robot not only doesn't think he's cut out for battle, but believes the mere fact that he's done as well as he has in battle is just a big setup. He's convinced his good luck will run out on him, and run out at the worst possible moment.

As such, Scattorshot has developed a thing about guns. He likes altmodes with a lot of them. Maybe with enough firepower, he can prolong that whole karma thing. His companions find him to be a bit pessimistic, but far from hopeless... he may make a great soldier someday if he can just get over that nervousness.

Since gaining a new body and joining the Cybertron Defense Team, Scattorshot has gained more confidence and lost some of his pessimism, now that he has two brothers in arms watching his back. That, and the fact his new body has enough weaponry for him to make his own 'luck'.

:Japanese name: Backpack, Backguild (Vanguard Team)
:Hungarian name: Sörét ("Lead Shot")
Voice actor: Richard Ian Cox (English), Tarusuke Shingaki (Japanese)

When Megatron appeared inside the Autobot base, Scattorshot charged him but was quickly knocked away. Later he attempted to attack Megatron from behind but hit Optimus Prime instead. With the Autobot defeat he accompanied Optimus Prime to Earth. Fallen (episode)

When Optimus Prime and Scattorshot arrived on Earth, the latter scanned his vehicle mode off of a billboard advertising a war movie. To Prime's surprise, it was a conspicuous military half-track, and Prime berated him for his choice of a disguise. Scattorshot sassed back that Prime's own vehicle mode of a gigantic fire truck armed with huge cannons sure is a good disguise. Then he pretended that Prime had disappeared for the moment, as he was so good at blending in. He finally laid out the advantages of a half-track, such as off-road, all-terrain capability, relatively high speed in difficult conditions and that nobody would ever think to give him a parking ticket. Prime merely replied "Well... a fire truck is bigger." Scattorshot responded "Wanna race?" before quickly driving off. Inferno (episode)

Once on Earth, Scattorshot showed the Autobots a hologram of their new base, but then changed it due to human criticism. During the building of the base, he noticed the Decepticons approaching. He then organized the Autobots and humans in the process of hiding the base. Haven From Earth he witnessed Red Alert's attempt to close the black hole near Cybertron. He then picked up an Air Force communication locating Thundercracker. Optimus went out to investigate first but when Megatron also showed up Scattorshot arrived as backup. Hidden In the search for the Omega Lock, Scattorshot believed they needed to gather information. During another Decepticon attack, he used Cyber Key Power to attack Starscream.

Scattorshot told Bud that he couldn't travel into space, but was eventually convinced by Jolt. He then took Bud on the Space bridge up into the sky. Afterward he continued the tour by floating in space inside a giant bubble. A blast then knocked both him and Bud further into space. They were then hit by a satellite and knocked back into Earth's atmosphere. Beginning to burn up, they luckily entered a warp gate created by Vector Prime and ended up back at the base. Space During another encounter with the Decepticons, Scattorshot warned the Autobots that humans were approaching. Speed When an earthquake struck, Scattorshot got a fix on its epicenter under a nearby mountain. He then followed Optimus Prime to help the humans while keeping a tab on the collapsing mountain remotely. When the Autobots decided to collapse the mountain safely, he blew open the mine shaft. After Optimus sucked up the underground water preventing collapse, he shot the interior of the mountain to finally collapse it. Collapse

Scattorshot wasn't enthused about the idea of needing to find the Omega Lock so he stayed at the base. He then received Jolt's message for help in the Sahara Desert. Time (episode) He continued to receive transmissions at base and got Red Alert's from Velocitron. When Thundercracker attacked, Scattorshot was one of the first to deploy against him, using Cyber Key power to fire grenades at the Decepticon. Thundercracker later returned and Scattorshot then used Optimus Prime's cannons to scare him off again. Afterward, Scattorshot received a transmission from an Autobot refugee that claimed to have found the lost seal of Atlantis. Search He located the signal as coming from the Bermuda Triangle. Once arriving at a nearby coast, he was afraid to go into the ocean, but once Optimus dived in he wasted no time following. Along with Optimus Prime and Landmine, he found he had trouble in the water until being taught how to swim by Bud. Once on the ocean floor he assisted Optimus in clearing away debris from the symbol. Once Megatron arrived he charged at the Decepticon leader but was easily knocked away. When Atlantis exited the water, he was carried by Optimus Prime into the air. Deep Atlantis disappeared, amazing Scattorshot and the others. He came to the conclusion that Atlantis was a Cybertronian ship and helped the Autobots search around Earth for it. Once Optimus deduced that it was behind the moon, the Autobots went to meet the Decepticons and fought them in space. Ship

Scattorshot watched Hot Shot's race from headquarters. He though he needed an oil change after Hot Shot and Prime's combined jumping stunt. Race He then watched the second race Detour (episode) and continued to monitor the Autobot teams on Velocitron and Jungle Planet. Savage (episode) After the victorious Autobots returned from Velocitron, Scattorshot was present when Override added the Cyber Planet Key to the Omega Lock. He then processed the data that began emanating from it, leading to a set of coordinates on Earth. Champion He then went out with the team toward the coordinates up by the north pole. He stated that he felt cold even before heading out. When the Decepticons arrived he slid across the ice and confronted Starscream Mudflap. He transformed and drove directly into Mudflap's chest before getting hit by Starscream's water ball and freezing up. Mudflap then pummeled him while he was frozen until the other Autobots arrived. After thawing out he was welcomed to planet Earth by Lucy Suzuki. Ice

After leaving the arctic for some reason, he conversed with the Autobots about Jungle Planet. He agreed with Jetfire that that kids should not be able to travel there. Honor When the situation on Jungle Planet heated up, Scattorshot appeared out of Optimus Prime's newly created space bridge and helped surround Megatron. Trust (Cybertron) Back on Earth, Scattorshot readied the equipment for the entry of the next Cyber Planet Key. He received energy readings going off the chart and was first to notice the Mini-Cons as they were being used as a medium for Primus. He then kept contact with the team of Autobots who went again to the north pole. Trap After Starscream unleashed his Decepticon army, Scattorshot watched as they flew over Earth from the base. He questioned Vector Prime's idea of starting a battle with such a large enemy force, but eventually took off to join the battle. Invasion

Scattorshot was at the Autobot base when he found out that there were many suspicious people on the internet. He later traveled via the space bridge away from Earth. While on the bridge, he shot at Starscream, but was defeated. Retreat Scattorshot was one of the initial Autobots to meet Colonel Franklin. Later, when Jetfire encountered Thunderblast, Scattorshot locked onto her until she disappeared behind camouflage. When the Autobot base's lights went out, he was the main worker to get them back on. Afterward he noticed Megatron opening a new warp gate on Earth. When the Decepticons invaded, he triple teamed Megatron with Hot Shot and Red Alert, but was critically damaged by Megatron's new Cyber Key weapon. Revelation (episode) Scattorshot laid heavily damaged, but remained conscious while Vector Prime pulled him away from the battle. He kept thinking it was all over until he was transferred to a nearby military base. There the base personnel attempted to fix him with Coby's help. When the kids said they would never give up, the power of Primus came down from the sky and healed all three of the injured Autobots as well as powering them up. Scattorshot then took a new alternate mode and joined up with the rest of the Autobots who were still battling the Decepticons. When Hot Shot attacked Megatron, he decided to attack Scourge instead. Critical

Scattorshot assured the kids and the Mini-Cons that they would be able to hold down the fort at the Autobot base. He then continued battling Megatron and his forces. After Megatron retreated, he followed to aid Optimus Prime at the volcanic island. He focused his attacks on Scourge with the rest of the Cybertron Defense Team. Afterward he was sent to Cybertron as part of a team to slow down the black hole. He had Coby create a space bridge from the volcanic island to Cybertron for the journey. Assault On the way to Cybertron, the team encountered a meteor shower. Scattorshot blasted his way through, stating he would have the most points due to shooting the most obstacles. Upon returning to Cybertron and finding it swarming with Scrapmetal, he attacked them, but was quickly dogpiled upon with Red Alert. Starscream (episode) He continued fighting off Scrapmetal, United (episode) until the rest of the Autobots arrived as backup. Scattorshot watched as Optimus Prime presented the Omega Lock then kept track of the status of Cybertron as it appeared to be falling apart. He drove via a spacebridge to the moon to finish watching Cybertron's transformation into Primus. Cybertron (episode) Afterward he set up a connection to talk to Primus. Later, when Red Alert was analyzing Jolt's mind, Scattorshot was the first to notice Starscream approaching. He directed a volley toward the Decepticon and then fought against the Decepticon onslaught. Balance

Scattorshot joined Vector Prime to help track down the missing kids and Mini-Cons. He wondered why Coby was not using the communicator that had been provided to him. Darkness (episode) He continued to use the Autobot base computers to scan for some trace of their missing allies. Once they finally picked up a signal, Scattorshot followed in a warp gate created by Vector Prime. They appeared in space near the Atlantis only to see it warp away. Escape (episode)

Scattorshot broke the news to the other Autobots that Override had returned to Cybertron with a nice surprise: a spaceship they could travel to Gigantion in. Warp On board he ran a tracking program to find Bud, but the trail went cold. Instead, he found Gigantion. Upon landing, he deduced the air was breathable for the kids. Splitting up into groups, Scattorshot found himself transmitting from the ship and noticed sound eminating from underground. Later in a skirmish with the Decepticons, he battled Thunderblast. Giant Scattorshot was easily defeated by Galvatron, but recovered. He piloted the Autobot ship and found the Atlantis hiding in a crevasse. Fury

Scattorshot watched as Optimus battled Sideways, then followed Hot Shot to go find Bud. He realized that Starscream was powering up the Atlantiss guns to unleash it on the city. Later he admitted to helping Coby build his robot suit out of a Scrapmetal. When the Autobots split up into search teams, he and the rest of the Cybertron Defense Force formed team three. City

They ran into Sideways and Soundwave while searching for the Cyber Planet Key. He listened to Soundwave's story of Planet X and was then surrounded by Laserbeak's smoke. The enigmatic marauders immediately capitalized on their foes' limited visibility, leading to Scattorshot being hit by Hot Shot, who thought he was Sideways. The confused Autobot then had the dilemma of seeing two Hot Shot arms emerge from the smoke, each encouraging him to take their hand and decrying the other as a fake.

To figure out who to trust, Scattorshot got sneaky. He asked the closest Hot Shot a question about what Jetfire did before they travelled through space. The Hot Shot answered wrong and Scattorshot fired into that part of the smoke, bringing down Laserbeak and dispersing the bird-drone's fog. With the smoke clearing, he fired upon Soundwave and kicked Sideways down (after tricking his way past the villain's cloning ruse). He then powered up using his Cyber Key and helped the rest of the squad blast a pillar upon Soundwave and Sideways. Challenge

Scattorshot and his team looked for a downward passage when they ran into Galvatron and Menasor. After a brief skirmish, they used the triangle attack to take Menasor down. Then they battled Galvatron at full strength, but were once again beaten down. Scourge (episode) He slowly got to his feet, and after recovering made his way down to the inner part of Gigantion to jion the rest of the Autobots in shooting Galvatron. Optimus (episode)

He watched as Vector Prime inserted the final Cyber Planet Key into the Omega Lock. Afterward he updated the team on the status of the black hole. When Galvatron arrived, Scattorshot was defeated with the rest of the Autobots. While Optimus Prime and the other flying Autobots were intercepted by Soundwave and Sideways, Scattorshot opened fire from the ground. Showdown (episode)

He later thought it hopeless to build a space bridge without the Omega Lock, until he realized that they had three starships at their disposal. When feral denizens from Planet X came through the bridge, he unsuccessfully tried to shut it down. Later while in space he timed Vector Prime's reversal of time so they knew when to enter the warp gate. After clearing the tunnel he resynchronized with the normal timestream. Guardian (episode) As the Autobots returned to Primus, Scattorshot noticed he was low on energy. Homecoming (episode) In the battle he made fun of Thundercracker, sending the oversized Decepticon into a fit. End

Scattorshot came up with an idea on how to move Jungle Planet back into its orbit, then kept a status on the movement of the planet. In doing so he noticed the damage to one the of the rockets when Galvatron attacked it. When Galvatron and Optimus Prime began their battle, Scattorshot ran to help repair the rocket. He took control in the command center with Red Alert surveying the whole situation. When the repair failed, he joined the rest of the Autobots in manually changing the planet's trajectory. After the planet was saved, he joined the rest of the Autobots to assist Optimus Prime. Unfinished While the first Intergalactic Peace Conference was going on, Scattorshot met with Wing Saber right before he left. Later he shared a heartfelt moment as the Cybertron Defense team was splitting up, with him and Red Alert joining Optimus Prime on his mission to the stars. Beginning

TransTech
Scattorshot served as an Axiom Nexus tour guide for Jackpot and Hubcap. Gone Too Far

Cyber Key Code content
Scattorshot didn't just program video games on Cybertron, he also played them. A LOT. Unlike most gamers, his polygon addiction actually came in handy as he used his knowledge of strategy games to help Optimus make plans for fighting the Decepticons.
Notes
*"Scattorshot" was a name Hasbro had apparently been intending to use for quite some time: Early information from the official Transformers website featured it as a working name for both Blight and Six Shot at different points.

* According to Aaron Archer at 2006, the reason both versions of Scattorshot came with extra blue guns was because both versions had a little more left on the "per item" budget than the normal plans called for, so they added the guns for a little more value.
* In the opening-credit roll call of the Cybertron cartoon series, Scattorshot's name is spelled "Scattershot". This is also the spelling used on his Cyber Planet Key content.
* According to Cybertron Defense Scattorshot's color guide, he was originally supposed to sport a blue head, like the Scout Class version. However, there was no room left on the sprue for the blue parts, hence the head was moved to the sprue for the other parts instead. And since the budget for paint operations had already been used up, it couldn't be painted over in blue either.
As a building burned, surrounded by fire fighters, Smolder and Chopster arrived on the scene in vehicle mode. The firefighters were horrified when the two announced their intention was not to help extinguish the fire, but to add to it. Smolder ordered Chopster to destroy the water hoses, which the Mini-Con gleefully agreed to.

Bumblebee and Ratchet came to the rescue and confronted Chopster. After making his threats, however, Chopster fled, screaming, once Bumblebee revved his engines at him. Chopster returned quickly thereafter, attached to Smolder in vehicle mode. After suffering their flame attack, Ratchet knocked Chopster off Smolder's roof with an EMP blast. The blast forced Chopster to reconfigure into "fire axe" mode, which Smolder was fine with. He picked up Chopster and threw him at the Autobots, but they were able to deflect him. Ultimately, Smolder too was defeated. Cyber Missions 9
Chopster transforms from a robot into a flame-cannon that can be attached to the Commanders in vehicle mode, a hand-held double-headed axe, and "body armor" for both normal and super-mode Commanders.

: Chopster's axe mode features a two-tier handle allowing standard 5mm hole use, with a smaller size peg at the tip, allowing figures with smaller hand-holes to grip it. Unfortunately, figures with shallow holes, such as Bombshock will only grasp failingly at the narrow tip. Dai Atlas is a Powered Master who can combine with his partners. When combined with Sonic Bomber, they become Sky Powered. When combined with Road Fire, they become Land Powered. Dai Atlas, along with his fellow Powered Masters, created the technological planet Zone which eventually developed the super energy source, Energon Z. After the Nine Great Demon Generals attacked and destroyed the planet Feminia, and the Supreme Commander Victory Saber was lost in the explosion, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber left to search for their leader.

The pair eventually found the injured Autobot and returned him to Zone for repairs. On Zone they received word that they were needed elsewhere, so they left for Earth, to counter an attack from the Demon Generals.

Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber arrived just in the nick of time (because... y'know, heroes always do), saving the Autobot Micromasters from the all-powerful Decepticons. Dai Atlas then raced Devastator to the underground location of the Zodiac, an energy source capable of creating an entire universe.

Devastator beat Dai Atlas to the punch thanks to the intervention of King Poseidon, who caught the Autobot leader with a chain weapon. Devastator handed the Zodiac to Poseidon and took the chain from him, intending to kill Atlas. But Dai Atlas drove forwards using the treads in his feet and then transformed into his drill form and smashed through into a wall, killing Devastator in a flood of hot lava.

Free now, he chased King Poseidon to the surface, where he wrestled the Zodiac away from him. However, Trypticon got pissed off and unleashed his Energon Z Beam, which Sonic Bomber threw himself in front of to protect Dai Atlas, nearly getting himself killed by the attack. Taking a risk, Dai Atlas unleashed the power of the Zodiac, and both he and Sonic Bomber (now healed from Trypticon's attack) transformed into their base modes and blasted Trypticon and King Poseidon into oblivion.

Predaking saw this and decided it was time to get the hell out of there. Dai Atlas pursued, riding on Sonic Bomber. He merged his wings into his Z sword and sliced Predaking neatly in half.

After returning to Zone with the Zodiac, Victory Saber inaugurated Dai Atlas as the new Autobot Supreme Commander. Enter the New Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas!
Following the upgrade of planet Micro into the Autobot Zone, rumors abounded that not Victory Saber, but a new Supreme Commander would be in command. Zone (story page)

Later, Violen Jiger ordered his Nine Great Demon Generals on a campaign to conquer planets and create a Decepticon Zone to counter the Autobot Zone. The Decepticons attacked planet Feminia and destroyed it completely, with Victory Saber lost in the destruction. However, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber, the Powered Master space explorers, had arrived in time to rescue the badly wounded Autobot Supreme Commander. The Decepticons then shifted their focus to Earth, where they hoped to obtain a powerful energy source called the Zodiac. Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber intercepted them on Earth, defeated them, and regained the Zodiac. Impressed with Dai Atlas' courage and power, and too injured to lead any longer, Victory Saber inaugurated Dai Atlas as the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots. Zone (manga)

Dai Atlas helped to complete the Zone Operation, leaving Victory Saber relieved he had passed the role of Supreme Commander on to him. Zone (story page) Dai Atlas's mere presence enhanced the Autobots' morale by a tremendous degree and they enforced the peace of the galaxy with an even greater resolve. Soon after, Evil Spirit General BlackZarak attacked the Earth and took Landshaker and Sky Hyper hostage. Driven by the need to rescue their comrades, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber defeated BlackZarak and rescued their friends. Zone (story page)

Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber then focused their attention on Super-God General Overlord and Saurian General Trypticon, whom they vowed to defeat in under eight seconds. Dai Atlas took on Overlord, the strongest of the Generals, and defeated him with his "Galactic Dash" attack. Zone (story page)

Violen Jiger then created Metrotitan as a rival for Dai Atlas and unleashed him on the Lunar Zone Base on Earth's moon. Dai Atlas heard the SOS and rushed to aid Sonic Bomber in battle. Zone (story page) Dai Atlas arrived and combined with Sonic Bomber into Sky Powered, but they were quickly frozen solid by Metrotitan's Freeze Beam Gun. Freed, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber happily welcomed Road Fire into the club. Zone (story page)

Violen Jiger at last came out of the shadows and attacked the Earth in person. Dai Atlas and the other Powered Masters attempted to stop him with their "Triple Powered Attack" but failed. Violen Jiger escaped back to the Tenth Planet with the Zodiac and a Galaxy Rocket full of hostages. Dai Atlas and the Powered Masters then combined into Big Powered and gave chase. Zone (story page)

Arriving at the Tenth Planet, Violen Jiger split into his three forms, Vion, Lenja and Igern, and attacked. Dai Atlas destroyed Vion with his Powered Cutters while Sonic Bomber and Road Fire took out the other two. However, the battle was not over. Zone (story page) Violen Jiger returned as a horrible phoenix-thing and attacked. Upgraded with the power of the Zodiac, the Powered Masters combined into Big Powered yet again, but this time their strength was enhanced thirty-fold. The Zodiac then reformed the desolate Tenth Planet into a lush utopia where humans and robots could live in harmony. Zone (story page)

*Dai (大) is a Japanese word meaning "great" or "big", and can refer to physical size, rank or prestige. Similarly, Atlas was a giant in Greek mythology so big that he literally held the sky on his shoulders.

* Grandus's instructions show that Dai Atlas can use his motor gimmick in vehicle mode to tow Grandus.

*Oddly enough, in the industry pitch reel included as a special feature (under 'ads') on the Madman Victory DVD set, all of Dai Atlas's action features are demonstrated using the Micromaster Freewheeler, and not Speeder. Sonic Bomber, on the other hand, is demonstrated using Sonic.

*During the title sequence for the Zone OVA there is a strange mini-montage of shots of Dai Atlas (all of the cartoon screencaps of his robot mode on this page are from that montage) including... a random shot of him from behind.

* The Dai Atlas toy was redecoed in Takara's Brave Express Might Gaine toyline as "Gōryū" (轟龍), which served as the second mech of the series's anti-hero, Joe Raibaru. The character model was altered in various ways, such as straightened wings in robot mode and a creepier face, but the toy itself had no remolding—although the Gōryū toy did lack Dai Atlas's shield handle, for some strange reason. In a seeming nod to the toy's Transformers origins by the Brave staff, the robot was originally dubbed "Atlas" by its creator on the show, but Joe chose to rename it to his liking. Dai Atlas's design was also used for the "Atlas Mk.II" drones from the same series, which were never made as toys.

* Universe King Atlas was created as an homage to Dai Atlas. The character's lack of any form of bio meant that for years, there existed the possibility he was Dai Atlas (thanks to Universe's multi-dimensional story). Eventually though, King Atlas was established as his own separate character from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family in "Force of Habit".

* The Capcom game "Gotcha Force" has a toy sized robot that transforms into a tank and a jet, and bears a striking resemblence to Dai Atlas in robot form. There is also an "Omega Tank" borg, which strongly resembles Atlas's tank form.
