Predaking suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Omnibots.

The precise origins of the animated Predacons are never divulged in the series, with them simply appearing in Five Faces of Darkness Part 5 with no explanation. A TV Magazine story page later made the claim that Predaking was built through cooperation between the Decepticons and the Quintessons, although whether or not that was the original intention of the American series writers is unknown.
(Predaking is referred to as one of the Nine Great Demon Generals. This terminology, coupled with the presence of the previously deceased Black Zarak in their ranks and Violen Jygar's supernatural origins, could mean that Predaking died previously to Zone and was likewise brought back to life. However, this is unconfirmed, meaning that Violen Jygar may have simply recruited the still-living Predaking to be a General.)
Predaking was selected by Violen Jygar as one of his 9 Decepticon Demon-Generals. Given the rank of Beast General and gifted with new weaponry and armor, Violen Jygar sent Predaking to the Earth to steal the Zodiac before the Autobots could get it. He failed, however, and after seeing the likes of King Poseidon and Trypticon get killed in battle, attempted to escape. His escape was thwarted by Dai Atlas, who sliced him into two from head to crotch, exposing his vaguely organic-looking brain and killing the Decepticon.
Starscream and his Combaticons were in training (with Sky Lynx of all people as a target) when Predaking suddenly arose from the sea, seeking to capture the treacherous Decepticon Air Commander. The Combaticons quickly formed into (the much-less intelligent) Bruticus and counter-attacked by destroying Predaking's shoulder-mounted guns. Forced back, Predaking quickly put down his opponent by firing one of his foot cannons at Bruticus' head, blasting off part of his face.
When Starcream fled, lamenting Bruticus's latest defeat, Predaking attempted to follow until Bruticus crushed one of his wings and threw him onto the island. Megatron creates a clone of Optimus Prime to lure the Autobots to their doom.

Detailed synopsis
Basically, the Decepticons find some corlonium crystals, which make anything electronic that they touch go kaboom unless insulated. Hoping to trick the Autobots into investigating the crystals, Megatron makes a remote-controlled clone of Optimus Prime. Naturally, the Autobots figure things out, the clone goes kaboom, and the Decepticons run away.

Hound was one of the original Autobots aboard the Ark when it crash-landed on Earth four million years ago. When awakened in 1984, he was reformatted to have a terrestrial alt-mode, that of a Mitsubishi military jeep.

As the Autobots got their bearings on this strange new planet, Optimus Prime dispatched Hound on a recon mission to find the Decepticons. The impetuous Cliffjumper tagged along uninvited, and itching to start a fight, took a pot-shot at Megatron once Hound sniffed out the Decepticon base. Cliffjumper missed, and the Decepticons gave chase. Laserbeak pursued the two Autobot eavesdroppers, and Hound took the brunt of the assault, getting blasted by Laserbeak's cannons. Hound spun out of control on the winding mountain roads, and crashed into a ravine.

Cliffjumper returned with help: the Autobot medic, Ratchet. Hound was too injured to even transform, so the crane truck Hauler had to lift him out of the gulch so he could be dragged back to the Ark for repairs. Despite the mishap, Hound bore no ill-will against Cliffjumper. The scout had heard enough about the Megatron's plans to plunder the Earth's resources that Optimus immediately launched a mission to stop the Decepticons. More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1

* Chronology: The Dark Ages

Synopsis
The monstrous Fallen, with a bit of difficulty, manages to down Grimlock with a wave of dark energies flowing into Grimlock. Jetfire watches the deactivation of Grimlock and speculates on The Fallen's origins, then blacks out. The Fallen drags away Grimlock and Jetfire, while Bludgeon and the other henchmen leave to retrieve the third target. Shockwave, forgotten, awakens.

At the hub-capital Iacon, beneath Virtue's Forum, in the Autobase, Prowl and the other Autobots discuss the escalation of the arms race between the six factions. Trailbreaker relates to Prowl Jetfire's theory of intelligent manipulation behind recent events. Sideswipe interrupts the discussion, bringing Prowl to answer a video communication from Swoop regarding Grimlock's disappearance. Moments after Swoop hangs up, an alarm signals an attack within the Autobot's brig. The lower levels of the base are invaded by the unstoppable Fallen.

In another part of Iacon, the Protectobots ponder why their combined form, Defensor, has such a reduced intellect. Bludgeon and his cronies crash the deliberations. With the elements of surprise, Mindwipe's hypnosis, and Hot Spot's hesitation to initiate the interlink into Defensor, the Protectobots are quickly defeated. Hot Spot is declared a captive.

Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Mirage continue to defend, refusing to let The Fallen retrieve the Autobot's prisoner. The Fallen's dark power lets him shrug off the Autobot's attacks and disable the three of them. He tears open the jail cell and recruits the fourth and final component of the unbinding: Blitzwing.

Above, in the tactical central of the Autobase, Prowl orders a containment field errected to make sure The Fallen doesn't escape. But when Bumblebee sets up the shield, feedback detonates his console and almost injures bumblebee. There's no question that The Fallen has escaped.

* It's never made clear why particularly Jetfire, Grimlock, Hot Spot, and Blitzwing were necessary for The Unbinding.
* On the final page of the story, the The Fallen casts a shadow with horns intentionally evocative of Unicron. How it's possible for him to cast a shadow with his back being constantly on fire is unclear but there's all kinds of Dark Magic involved so don't think about it.
Synopsis
In the Well Of All Sparks, The Fallen reaches into Bludgeon's mind and offers Bludgeon a glimpse at forbidden secrets, ensuring the loyalty of Bludgeon and his cronies.

Away, in the Tagan Heights, Springer and the Wreckers start a patrol, to keep the area out of the hands of Ratbat's Ultracons. Taking higher ground, he finds that Ratbat has unleashed Devastator.

Hot Spot and the rest of the Protectobots consider their slignment from the base they've made in the ruins of the High Council Pavilions. Hot Spot decides to take action in hopes of preventing Escalation.

Springer orders the Wreckers not to engage Devastator, but the team disobeys the order to give Springer the opportunity to get clear. Springer falls away and ends up suspended upside down in some loose wires, where he's taunted by Ratbat.

Bludgeon considers the tasks The Fallen appointed to him, and he plots to manipulate Grimlock.

Devastator continues to battle The Wreckers, his limited intellect manifesting in the way he rampages without consideration. The Protectobots arrive and combine into Defensor in hopes of quelling the combined Constructicons. The rumbles of their clash allow Springer to fall out of his restraints.

While the situation in the Tagan Heights grows worse, the Autobase is left abandoned, except for a lonely Jetfire.

:Sunstreaker is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Sunstreaker knows to his core of his spark that he is better than any other Autobot, and he makes sure everyone else knows it, too. His sociopathic tendencies, combined with his incredible vanity and arrogance, usually result in tension between himself and the other Autobots. He is generally unwilling to help those who are having trouble keeping up, and is quite audible when it comes to complaining about the shortcomings of everyone else. The only Autobot he truly gets along with is his twin brother, Sideswipe, and even that can seem strained at times.

The main reason Optimus Prime keeps him around is most likely Sunstreaker's effectiveness in the battlefield. Ruthless and skilled in all forms of combat, there is not much Sunstreaker cannot handle. As a front-line warrior, Sunstreaker is a great asset for the Autobot army. If a rather scary one.
(Note: Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.)

Prior to the outbreak of Cybertron's planet-wide civil war, Sunstreaker was a gladiator in the State Games.

Sunstreaker was among the crew of the Ark that crashed 4 million years ago and woke up in 1984.

In the first few days on Earth, Sunstreaker diverted an attack by Thundercracker and Skywarp towards a human civilization so as to keep himself from harm.

When Shockwave took control over the Decepticons and possession of the Ark, he destroyed Sunstreaker's body as a demonstration and warning to the deposed Megatron. The New Order Because of this, Sunstreaker's body was in disrepair for a very long time, and at one point, when G.B. Blackrock asks about him in the med bay, Jazz tells him Ratchet isn't even sure if Sunstreaker will ever be operational again. The Next Best Thing to Being There!

(Note: This rending of his body appears to have occurred in a panel on page 9 of US issue #5, but the coloring is completely wrong for Sunstreaker. However, given Sunstreaker's absence in the scene on page 4 of US issue #9, which is meant to include all the Autobots, and Yomtov's penchant for completely messing up the colors, it seems reasonable that Sunstreaker is the Autobot Shockwave destroyed. Issue 10 shows him still in repair. The 1986 Marvel UK annual also listed his status as "injured; little possibility of revival.")

Sunstreaker was fully repaired in time to view the duel between Blaster and Grimlock on the moon. The massive battle with the Decepticons which ensued apparently left him badly damaged once more, as he wound up in stasis aboard the Ark again, to be revived by Nucleon in 1990, when he and the other newly revived Autobots joined the attack on Unicron. Surprisingly, he survived that battle as he was able to attend the first meeting of the shaky Autobot-Decepticon alliance.

Earthforce
(Note: These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel UK continuity. See Earthforce for details.)

Early into the Autobot-Decepticon war, Sunstreaker was a member of the Magnificent Six. While they were on a mission to the Stanix region of Cybertron, he made a remarkably callous joke that convinced their allies to turn them over to the Decepticons. The entire unit was tortured for a week, and Stampede was killed. Nice. The Magnificent Six!

An injured Sunstreaker, along with several other Autobots, was awakened not by Nucleon, but by Galvatron's Dream-Inducing Bug. Galvatron had studied their dreams in the aim of finding dissenting members of the Autobots that he hoped to put into his own employ, but after a short skirmish, Galvatron's device was placed on himself.

Later, Sunstreaker was sent on a new mission to the Stanix region of Cybertron with Silverbolt, Prowl, Wheeljack, Jazz, and Inferno by Optimus Prime. While there, he overcame the ghosts of the past and helped defeat the mad Decepticon Megadeath. Of course, he was the only member of the team that didn't seen particularly haunted by those events in the first place, but the others overcame them, and wasn't that nice for them? The Magnificent Six!

Animated continuity
:Voice Actor: Corey Burton (US), Kenyu Horiuchi (Japan)

Sunstreaker was part of the original crew of Autobots aboard the Ark that crashlanded on Earth four million years ago. When reawakened in 1984, he and his brother Sidesewipe were reformatted into Lamborghini sports cars.

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker often operated together. When antimatter-fueled Decepticons attacked the Ark on one occasion, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker took to the air to battle with the incoming seeker jets, in a rambunctious -- if ultimately ineffective -- display of "jet judo."

Sunstreaker was one of several Autobots who glommed onto Hoist's job as a Hollywood extra in the hopes of becoming a movie star. This mainly resulted in him wearing a ridiculous alien mask and spouting out stilted, wooden dialogue.

Before the Decepticon attack on Autobot City, Sunstreaker was helping Kup move a roadblock. He was knocked over when Hot Rod and Daniel Witwicky drove through it.

Meanwhile, he was also on Moon Base One and helped pilot the shuttle that flew Optimus Prime and the Dinobots to Autobot City.

Universe comics
After the Pax Cybertronia, Sunstreaker left Cybertron with five other survivors of the Great War (Sideswipe, Roulette, Shadow Striker, and Trailbreaker). One year after Cybertron was reformatted into a technorganic planet, they returned. They were greeted by many of the Maximal and Predacon inhabitants and with vast media coverage.

However, what appeared to be celebratory fireworks struck the five Autobots and also the Maximals Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. They were transported to a fiery cauldron deep within Unicron, where all but Trailbreaker were rebuilt painfully into new bodies.

Seeing an arena up ahead, the seven moved towards it, only to be attacked by a swarm of shape-shifting lava-like creatures. Sunstreaker and the others were overwhelmed and taken into the arena (or, the Cauldron), where they were caged along with a multitude of Transformers kidnapped from across the multiverse.

The Unicron-influenced ambiance of the place was slowly driving the more violent of the group mad. This, of course, included Sunstreaker. He and Sideswipe were forced into combat in the arena(each wielding spiffy Energon weapons), but were rescued by a reborn Optimus Primal. The group, sans a corrupted Blackarachnia and Shadow Striker, fled back to Cybertron.

Binaltech Asterisk
Sunstreaker is a member of the Cybertron (Autobot) Race Team, which may or may not have any other Transformers on it. He's sort of a mascot for them, and the team doesn't actually use him in races. He resents that people pay more attention to him as a promotional image than as a racecar.

Sunstreaker is partnered with - for unknown reasons - the human "race queen" model Junko Shiragami, and acts as her car. Once, Sunstreaker got in a race with a human-driven sports car, much to Junko's dismay. He used his transformation ability to take a particularly sharp curve, destroying a road sign in the process, for which Junko chewed him out.

It is said that Sunstreaker drives faster when he smells Junko's marigold-scented hair.

Dreamwave comics continuity
When Ultra Magnus arrived on Earth to enforce Shockwave's edict that the Earth-bound Autobots surrender themselves to the Cybertronian alliance, Optimus Prime ordered a portion of his troops into hiding in Portland, Oregon. This group, led by Jazz, included Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Ratchet, Brawn, Wheeljack, and Windcharger. However, Starscream, Soundwave, and his cassettes soon escaped to Earth with Bruticus. Attacking the Ark, they destroyed all of Jazz's group minus Ratchet and Brawn. Sunstreaker and the others were left in a swamp, deactivated.

A ship crewed by Minibots (led by Bumblebee) arrived on Earth with supplies, and Warpath and Bumper pulled the deactivated from their would-be swampy grave. They were promptly arrested by Commander Marissa Faireborn of the Earth Defense Command and her armored troops. The damaged were repaired.

Commander Faireborn came to Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Jazz with a mission. The American city of San Desto was under attack by Cybertronian creatures.

(Note: Long after Dreamwave closed, Matt Moylan revealed that their version of Sunstreaker was intended to be gay, though this specific facet of his character didn't seem to be made apparent in any fiction.)

IDW comics continuity
Sunstreaker was one of many Autobots trained by Kup and is part of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency. His attitude is about as superior as his original incarnation, dismissing the three humans Ratchet saves as "noisy creatures".

Sunstreaker, along with Ironhide was assigned the task of escorting the noisy creatures back to the big wild world, Tulsa, Oklahoma. On a road in the vicinity of Lebanon, Missouri, Sunstreaker and company were ambushed by the Machination. He and his passenger Hunter O'Nion became seperated from Ironhide and seemingly destroyed. It was soon revealed that it was not the case, the debris recovered by Optimus Prime was revealed by Ratchet to be an elaborate fake.

spoiler

After re-awakening in a Machination stronghold, Hunter was horrified to find an unidentified being, possibly Cybertronian, had been creating a series of Sunstreaker "clones." Escalation, Issue 6
*Sunstreaker (Autobot, 1984)

: Sunstreaker was released as part of the first year of the Transformers line in the US. He is a yellow version of the Diaclone Lamborghini Countach LP500S "Super Tuning" toy. The Diaclone version came only in red or police deco; this is one of several items that have led to the fan speculation that Sunstreaker and Sideswipe's coloration and bio text were swapped around before final release. The statistics, however, are correct.

: In 1986, he was made available as a mail-away item (as he was no longer shipping to retail shelves) several different promotions, among them Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction flier packed with most boxed Transformers toys. He cost $8 and two robot points.

: Sunstreaker is generally considered to be one of the harder early Generation 1 toys to get complete and unbroken. There also appears to be little chance of a reissue of the toy, as this mold has been stated by Hasbro and Takara representatives to be one of several toys whose original molding has been either lost or in a state of disrepair too extensive to justify the cost of re-casting.

: Sunstreaker's only release in Japan was in the VS-Z set, along with Buzzsaw and Skids.

: A retool of the Robots in Disguise Prowl mold, Sunstreaker was the "hotel exclusive" toy from OTFCC 2003, available only to those who booked their room at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare at the convention rate, the official hotel for the convention.

: It is notable that the part that connects the toy's windshield to the main body uses a yellow decal rather than paint, as that part is made out of unpaintable plastic. The police lights from the original mold were removed, leaving this area bare.

: This mold is also used by Sideswipe and Inferno.

: Sunstreaker was planned as an early retool of the Alternators Sideswipe Dodge Viper toy, but for reasons unknown, the toy was released instead as the Decepticon Dead End. The mold would not be used as Sunstreaker proper until 2005, when both Hasbro and Takara revealed two different takes on the toy.

: The first to market was the Binaltech Asterisk version of the toy, coming with a PVC driver figurine, a girl named Junko. A few months later, the Hasbro Alternators version was released as part of the standard Alternators line, in the redesigned "bubble" packaging (the third version of Alternators packaging). Though both are yellow redecos of the mold, the detailing between the two is very different, with the Hasbro version adding red to the robot-mode parts as well as a pair of black racing stripes in car mode. Drastically put, the only two details virtually identical on both versions at first sight are the paint mask for the head and the license plate layout.

The Allspark is the source of Transformer life. Frequently it is glossed as the essence of Primus.

Evolution
The concept of The Allspark has evolved and coalesced over the course of almost all Transformer fiction since the line began. The specific concepts that have evolved into "The Allspark" are traced below:

Generation 1 Cartoon
The Autobot Matrix of Leadership is a powerful, mysterious, and ancient vessel that contains the wisdom of all past Autobot leaders.

Marvel Comic
The Autobot Creation Matrix is a powerful and ancient vessel that contains the essence of the Transformers God Primus. All Transformers lifeforces are said to be fragments of Primus' own.

Beast Wars
Transformer life force is first described as a spark. This spark is said to come from the Matrix when a Transformer is born and return to it upon his death. The exact nature of what the Matrix here is not established but wait for it...

Beast Machines
What was known as "the Matrix" in Beast Wars is first refered to as "the Allspark." It is defined as the dimension from which all Transformer sparks that exist, have existed, or ever will exist originate, existing as a collective whole.

When a Transformer is "born," a single spark departs the Allspark and suffuses itself into the new Transformer body, giving it true life and soul. When the Transformer then reaches the end of its life, the spark departs its body and returns to the Allspark; all the knowledge that the Transformer acquired and all of its life experiences are contained with the spark, and they are added to the totality that is the Allspark.

(The connection of the Allspark to Primus is not made explicit at this point but seems an obvious one to many fans).

Dreamwave
The Well of All Sparks exists on Cybertron and seems to have some connection to the mystical source of Transformer life.

The fictive foundation of Sparks and the Allspark laid down in the Beast Era material is taken up and brought together with the concept of Primus

Means of access
Applying the existance of the Allspark retroactively to previous continuities (as the Primus-singularity retcon allows. See his page for details on that.) leads to a new interpretation of some existing artifacts.

*Most prominently there are the Matrix of Leadership and the Creation Matrix, the legendary talismans carried by Autobot leaders in the Generation 1 cartoon and Marvel Comic respectively. The abilities of both these artifacts can be glossed as a result of their functioning as connections to the Allspark dimension.

*Secondly, there is the mega-computer Vector Sigma, which, like the Matrix, endows new Transformers with life. In the Beast Era the most common method of communication with the Allspark via Vector Sigma involves the use of its shell program, the Oracle, which permits a "receptive spark" to commune directly with the collective intelligence of the Allspark. (Though in some material there is evidence that the Oracle has been subverted to serve Quintesson ends.) Prior to the Oracle's existance, Optimus Prime used the empty shell of the Matrix of Leadership to access what we would see as the Allspark through Vector Sigma and spoke directly to the dead Alpha Trion who had previously been shown to have merged with Vector Sigma AND to reside in the Matrix (a discrepancy at the time that is now rectified by the retcon application of the Alspark to the G1 cartoon).

All Spark (cube)
[[Image:Allspark movie.jpg|thumb|It will grant you all the pleasure of Heaven.
]]

(Note: The movie uses the spelling "All Spark" (two words, rather than one) to refer to the object.)

The All Spark is a physical object of mysterious origin. A large, metallic cube, it is inscribed with ornate runes and is believed to be responsible for creating and sustaining the Transformer race and the planet of Cybertron itself.

(Note: The movie's All Spark is a big cube because, in the original screenplay, it was going to be called the "Energon Cube.")

Prequel
Swayed to the side of evil by the lure of the All Spark's power, Cybertron's co-ruler Lord Megatron went rogue with his own army, seeking to take control of it. At Optimus Prime's orders, Bumblebee and a group of Autobots secretly transported the All spark to Tyger Pax, only to be pursued by the Decepticons. Megatron himself took a personal hand in the torture of Bumblebee, attempting to force him to reveal the All spark's location, but his efforts went in vain, and the All Spark was blasted into space to put it beyond Megatron's reach. In response, Megatron crushed Bumblebee's voice box and began to follow the All Spark to Earth.

Transformers (2007) movie
The All Spark was found in 1913, 16 years after the NBE "Iceman" was found. The glyphs on the cube were similar to the ones on the Iceman, indicating a link between the two. In order to hide the cube from other humans and, potentially, from other NBEs, the President had the Hoover Dam built around it. The Iceman was also moved to the dam for further study. It was eventually determined that the cube emitted a type of radiation which could bring mechanical devices to life.

Years later, when Megatron eventually came back online due to the intervention of his soldiers, Sam Witwicky convinced Sector Seven to release Bumblebee, saying he could help. Bumblebee interacted with the cube and prompted it to collapse from an enormous monolith into a object less than half a meter across, and accordingly lesser in mass as well as volume. Bumblebee and a military escort, soon joined by the Autobots, took the Cube to Mission City, where Sam ran through the city avoiding the Decepticons. During the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, Prime told Sam to merge the Cube with his spark. However, Sam instead merged it with Megatron's spark, destroying both Megatron and the All Spark. Without a means to restore their homeworld, the Autobots elected to remain on Earth, and Prime sent a message to inform the surviving Autobots of their new found home.

Notes
