'''While testing a new communications device, [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] runs into trouble.'''

{{episodenav |BW |season=1 |3 |prev=Beast Wars (part2) |next=Equal Measures }}

==Summary==
At the Maximal base, Cheetor volunteers enthusiastically to field test a new comm link Rhinox has developed to aid long range communication. Cheetor is instructed to take care of the device, and not engage with any Predacons. After Cheetor bolts out of the room, Rhinox expresses a bit of doubt, but Primal is confident that Cheetor will do fine.

Five [[microquads]] away, Cheetor hears an explosion, caused by Scorponok trying to recover a mega-cannon from one of the two ships. Cheetor radios a report to Optimus and heads off to investigate, openly defying Primal's orders to not get into any trouble. Primal leaves to recover Cheetor before something bad happens. Cheetor finds Scorponok and radios to Rhinox that he's going to take immediate action. Cheetor holds Scorponok at gunpoint, but Tarantulas surprises Cheetor, giving Scorponok the time he needs to take Cheetor out with a missile. By the time Primal arrives, the two Predacons are gone, and Cheetor is left heavily damaged.

Cheetor's dream:
''On Cybertron, Megatron, Waspinator, and Terrorsaur all open fire at Cheetor. Cheetor merely laughs at his attackers and blasts them away with ease. But from the darkness inside of an empty water tower, the glowing eyes of Tarantulas taunt Cheetor. Cheetor opens fire again, but finds his accuracy suddenly diminished. Suddenly Scorponok transforms and attacks, out of the blue Rattrap appears for a split second. With his blaster exhausted, Cheetor is unable to do anything but watch as a missile from Scorponok closes in''.

Cheetor reawakens on the ''Axalon'', having been repaired by Rhinox. Cheetor tries to explain to the Maximals gathered around him that he had to take immediate action to stop Scorponok's recovery of the cannon, but Primal and the others are still disappointed with him for losing both the communicator and the cannon because of his impulsive actions. Once Primal leaves, Rattrap gives Cheetor a hard time, causing the cat bot to snarl back and rush out of the room again. Rhinox makes Rattrap face up to what Cheetor is surely going to do, so Rattrap relents and agrees to go after Cheetor.

In Predacon territory, Terrorsaur and Scorponok install the newly recovered cannon. Cheetor tries to sneak past them, but is so focused on waiting for the correct moment, he doesn't notice Tarantulas emerge from the ground behind him and is quickly ensnared.

Cheetor awakens in dark caverns, stuck to an energy web that restricts his movement. Tarantulas explains to Cheetor that the stasis web is draining his energy slowly, leaving the delicious body ripe for consumption. Tarantulas crawls over his captive's body and laughs with delight at the thought of his meal.

In the ''Axalon'''s main room, Primal, Rhinox, and Dinobot look over a holo-map of the [[Darksyde|crashed Predacon ship]]. Primal prepares to send Rattrap on a scouting mission, but Rhinox covers for his friend and says that the rat is talking to Cheetor.

Unknown to Primal, Rattrap is actually already in Predacon territory, following Cheetor's trail. Rattrap finds Tarantulas's lair, and engages his Predacon nemesis. While the two battle, Tarantulas increases the speed at which the web drains energy from Cheetor. Tarantulas hunts Rattrap through the cavern with a thermal scan, but Rattraps fools the vision with a "hot box" and beats the spider in a Mexican standoff.

After destroying the energy web, Rattrap grabs Cheetor and gets ready to leave, but one last blast from Tarantulas forces Rattrap to make his exit by diving away from a large explosion...which causes the cavern to collapse upon Tarantulas.

Back at the base, Rattrap lies to Primal and claims he and Cheetor were just hanging out together. The act spares Cheetor from Primal's anger. In private, Rattrap emphasizes to Cheetor that Rattrap was only lying to cover his own hide... but Cheetor is still grateful to his pal.
'''Optimus Prime is forced to team up with his rival Sentinel Prime after Sentinel has a humiliating encounter with the Headmaster.'''

==Summary==
[[Image:Returnofheadmaster sarisroom.jpg|left|thumb|200px|im in ur room, shackin in ur cribs]]

In Sari's room at [[Sumdac Tower]], Sari bitterly packs her things while grumbling about Porter C. Powell taking over her home and throwing her to the curb. She doesn't notice Powell enter as she badmouths him, but rather than get upset, the man smugly proves many of her points right and adds insult to injury by introducing her bedroom's new tenant, the freshly re-hired Henry Masterson. As the Headmaster makes himself at home, Sari protests, pointing out the man's lack of sanity, but Powell merely rushes her out the door. Then just as Sari's day can't get any worse, Powell claims [[Sparkplug (Animated)|Sparkplug]] and [[Tutor Bot]] as company property. Harsh.

[[Image:Returnofheadmaster sentinelspeaks.jpg|right|thumb|200px|I am destined to be a superhero. To right wrongs, and to pound two-fisted justice into the hearts of evildoers everywhere.]]

Meanwhile, the Primes [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus]] and [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel]] stand at a press conference along with the mayor and Captain Fanzone. Sentinel is his usual charming self, boasting the significance of the [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard's]] presence, condescending the [[Humans|icky organics]], showing complete ignorance of the planet's customs, and insulting his comrade's lowly position at every opportunity. Optimus tries his best to ignore all this and put the humans' minds at ease about the current situation, but finds it difficult to get a word in edgewise as Sentinel cuts him off, determined to do all the talking, refusing to let Optimus speak for him.

Powell and Masterson watch the press conference with intent. Powell says he expects great things from Masterson, intending to tap the lucrative military hardware market that Sumdac so foolishly ignored. Masterson is itching to get to work, but wants new robots to test his Headmaster units on. The old Autobot crew won't cut it however, he wants the new models, and eagerly eyes Sentinel Prime's image on the screen.

Masterson calls up Fanzone with a false Decepticon sighting in Old Detroit. Fanzone relays the information to the Primes and the heroes transform and roll out. Sentinel still hasn't gotten a hang of the city's traffic customs however, and spends more time driving over other cars than on the road.

[[Image:AnimatedBumbleeBulkheadProfessor.jpg|left|thumb|150px|We tackle any topic, immense or microscopic!]]

Meanwhile, Sari is moving in with the Autobots at the old factory. Bulkhead and Bumblebee are eager to cheer the sullen girl up with loud TV, music, and a misguided tutoring session in which they end up throwing around theories about her mysterious origins. Predictably however, everything they try only seems to make her more miserable.

Sentinel soon arrives at the scene, prying a stop sign from his shoulder, and is quickly joined by Optimus and the police. Optimus starts making suggestions, but Sentinel shuts him up, opting to split up and search on his own. He doesn't need help from a scrub.

The search drags on into the night and Sentinel is jumping at shadows, turning the advanced weaponry of the Cybertron Elite Guard on such dire threats as stray cats. This distracts him, and Masterson gets the jump on him with the Headmaster unit. Shoftly afterwards Sentinel contacts Optimus, telling him it was a false alarm and to send the police away. He then demands Optimus come to his position alone, and promise not to laugh. Soon after, Optimus finds Sentinel's decapitated head and breaks out in laughter. Bitter and humiliated, Sentinel pleads with Optimus to help him get his body back without Ultra Magnus finding out. Optimus can guess that the reason Sentinel is trusting him with the task is that he's just not important enough for his opinion to matter, but Sentinel is careful not to say something so insulting in his position. How about that.

[[Image:Returnofheadmaster optimuslaughs.jpg|right|thumb|200px|''Ha'' ha!]]

Optimus learns of Masterson's re-hiring thanks to a conveniently timed message from Bumblebee, reporting what he heard from Sari. The next day, Optimus pays a visit to Sumdac Tower, hiding Sentinel's head under a tree trunk while he chats with Powell. The new manager makes it clear that the Autobots aren't free to waltz into his building as they please any more, but assures their leader that he doesn't know where Masterson is. However as soon as Optimus leaves, he phones the Headmaster with information on the new development, warning his employee not to jeopardize the company's image. Lucky for the Primes, Optimus thought ahead enough to intercept the phone call with his ear transceiver as soon as he was out of sight. He traces the call to a cargo ship at the docks.

It's night again when the 1.5 Primes arrive at the docks and start searching for Sentinel's body. They don't get far when a nearby crate bursts open, revealing a sinister Sparkplug and Tutorbot outfitted with miniature Headmaster Units. Sentinel isn't too worried by the puny automatons until they reveal some powerful laser-shooting upgrades. They send Optimus scrambling for cover while Sentinel's head bounces around impotently on the ground. When the ship Masterson is supposedly on starts casting off, they can't play around any longer, and Optimus rushes through the laser fire, ramps off the deck, transforms in mid-air and rides a powerful burst from his rocket axe to hook into the side of the ship's hull. Awesome. His grappling hooks probably would have worked equally well, but dude, flying rocket axe!

[[Image:Returnofheadmaster headmastersvictim.jpg|left|thumb|200px|Oh, beware the other head of science, Arthur. It bites.]]

On the ship, Optimus and Sentinel try to find Sentinel's body...until it finds them. The Headmaster pushes Optimus down with Sentinel's shield. Sentinel is surprised that it's so powerful, to which Masterson gloats he upgraded his equipment. Pulling out Sentinel's beam lance and expanding the shield into a spikier version, the Headmaster clashes with Optimus while Sentinel bounces around impotently on the ground some more.

Masterson manages to knock Optimus' axe off the ship, leaving him unarmed. After being pinned to the ground with shield spikes inches from his face, Optimus returns the favor by ripping off Sentinel's arm, shield and all. Sentinel is mortified by the dismemberment, but Optimus feels it was justified. He then uses Sentinel's arm as a makeshift axe and fights back the body, eventually severing the Headmaster Unit. The head quickly converts to robot and starts to run off, but this time Optimus stops him by kicking Sentinel's head into the fleeing villain like a soccer ball. Again, Sentinel is appalled. Optimus has less of an excuse this time.

[[Image:Headm_anim.JPG|right|thumb|200px|Salut!]]

Back on land, Fanzone has Masterson in cuffs and it looks like a happy ending until Powell shows up, pointing out that the ship was Sumdac Systems property, the assaulted robots don't have rights protected by the law, and the whole incident occurred over international waters between the [[United States of America|US]] and [[Canada]]. Masterson is free to go, much to the chagrin of everybody else.

Meanwhile at the factory, Bumblebee and Bulkhead are about to try another zany scheme to cheer Sari up, but Prowl stops them and tells them to just listen to her instead. Trying this last resort, Sari opens up about all her worries regarding her [[Isaac Sumdac|missing father]], her lost home and company, and her questioned existence. Bumblebee and Bulkhead aren't sure what to do, but they assure her they are there for her.

Finally, aboard the Elite Guard's ship the next day, Sentinel and Optimus report to Ultra Magnus, who has heard something about Sentinel "losing his head". Sentinel trembles uncomfortably in silence, but Optimus reports that they worked together to solve the crisis, effectively covering for his comrade who really doesn't deserve it. Ultra Magnus congratulates both of them and takes his leave to contact [[Cybertron Command]] on an issue of great importance. As the Primes walk down the hallway, Sentinel struggles out a "thank you" to his compatriot. Optimus notes that it must have hurt to say that, and Sentinel acknowledges the fact and reaches out his hand.
'''Sari''' ''(while packing her belongings)'': Chairman of the board? What does that even mean? They should just call him 'big jerk who thinks he's in charge of everything!'<br>
''[comes face-to-face with Powell]''<br>
'''Porter C. Powell''': Oh I don't ''think'' I'm in charge young lady, I ''know'' it. So hurry along, I need this space for more research and development, in order to make enough new money to cover what you lost the company while you were playing at being in charge, ''Miss Sumdac'', or can I even call you that?<br>
'''Sari''': Just because there's no record that I'm Isaac Sumdac's daughter, doesn't mean I'm not! He's my Dad and I don't care what you say! Yargh! Why am I even talking to you!?<br>
:{{m-}} Sari gets evicted from the [[Sumdac Tower|Big Brother House]].

"Whoa, hey! Check it! Major cribbage!"<br>
:{{m-}} '''Masterson''' is surprisingly okay with the fact that his new "R&D facilities" are frilly, lacy, and painted pink.

'''News Bot''': Prime! Prime!<br>
'''Sentinel''' and '''Optimus''': Yes?<br>
'''News Bot''': ''Optimus'' Prime. Is it true that all Cybertronians have no regard for human life, and view Earth as little more than a battleground for the never-ending robot wars?<br>
'''Sentinel''': Why, you little...!<br>
:{{m-}} News Bot's shot at the Pulitzer Prize nearly gets him crushed.

'''Fanzone''': Attention, all units! We have a Decepticon sighting in Old Detroit!<br>
'''Sentinel''': A "Decepticon sighting"? These organics wouldn't know a Decepticon from a garbage bot!'' [turns to a garbage bot]'' Tell your organic captain we're going to investigate.<br>
'''Optimus''': Uh, Sentinel, that's a trash bot.<br>
'''Sentinel''': Well, ''obviously'' it's a trash bot. I didn't just arrive on this planet yesterday!<br>
'''Optimus''': Actually, y{{m-}}<br>
'''Sentinel''': Ah - never mind, let's go.
:{{m-}}Sentinel Prime reaches out to the natives.

"How could they hire that nutjob body-snatcher to work for your father's company anyway?"<br>
:{{m-}}'''Bulkhead''', saying what we're all thinking.

"Sentinel, we should scramble our comlink frequencies in case the Decepticons are listening in!"<br>
"What you ''should'' do is stick within the scope of your programming. If I need a trash-can update or a floor mopped, I'll call on my buddy Optimus Prime. Or should I say...''Maintenance'' Prime? Hahahaha!"<br>
''[Sentinel turns and walks away; Optimus does the same]''<br>
"'Maintenance Prime'...then I'll just call you 'Pompous Gas-Bag Prime'. Yeah...that's what I should have said."<br>
:{{m-}}<s>Maintenance</s> '''Optimus Prime''' and '''Sentinel Prime''' match wits. Somehow, Optimus loses.

'''Bumblebee''': Just because you don't have a tutor bot anymore doesn't mean you need to stop learning. <br>
'''Bulkhead''': Right. We can teach you.<br>
'''Bumblebee''': So, class, today's lesson is regarding...well, stuff, and how it works. Any questions?<br>
'''Sari''': Yeah. Why is there no record of my existence?<br>
'''Bumblebee''': Okay...a little bit outside the lesson plan. Professor Bulkhead, your thoughts?<br>
'''Bulkhead''': Maybe she came here from another planet in some kind of egg and crashed on Sumdac's doorstep.<br>
'''Bumblebee''': Or a portal could have opened and she fell through from another dimension.<br>
'''Bulkhead''': Or maybe she's a robot.<br>
'''Bumblebee''': Or maybe Sumdac found her in a cabbage patch.<br>
'''Bulkhead''': Or that stork thing.<br>
:{{m-}}Professors Bumblebee and Bulkhead have obviously been visiting the fan forums...

"Wow, I didn't know my shield was so powerful."<br>
"Oh, you know me. I can't resist the upgrades."<br>
:{{m-}}'''Sentinel Prime''' marvels at the '''Headmaster'''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s tinkering. [[Lockdown]] would love this guy...

"Yes! I am so l33t!"<br>
"Yeah? Well, I have no idea what that means!"<br>
:{{m-}}'''Headmaster''' boasts as '''Optimus Prime''' scores a blow against [[Floro Dery|over-sized egos everywhere]].

'''Headmaster''': Yo, two things, law-dog. First: I do not sound like a "ma'am". Second: if you think you're laying down the rules, maybe you'd better conversate with my boss. Him.<br>
''[Powell's limousine drives up]''<br>
'''Porter C. Powell''': Captain Fanzone. I suggest you release my employee.<br>
'''Fanzone''': I don't think so, Mr Powell.<br>
'''Porter C. Powell''': And you're holding him on what charge? Destruction of property? ''[waves a hand at the ship]'' The ship belongs to Sumdac Systems. Assault? ''[gestures towards Optimus and Sentinel]'' Since when does an alien robot have rights? Plus, didn't the alleged incident occur in international waters between the United States and Canada ''[points at Canada's shoreline on the horizon]'' —a little out of your jurisdiction, wouldn't you agree, Captain? Why don't you work it out with the Mounties and let me know?<br>
:{{m-}} Porter C Powell out-wrestles the [[Captain Fanzone|arm of the law]] while the Headmaster invents a new word.

'''Sari''': What do you guys want?<br>
'''Bumblebee''': Nothing.<br>
'''Bulkhead''': We just wanted to know, if you were okay.<br>
'''Sari''': Okay? If I'm okay? My Dad is missing, I've lost control of his company, that Powell guy is going to destroy everything good he worked for, I've been kicked out of the only home I've ever known and I don't even know if I exist and you think I'm okay!?<br>
''[she breaks down into tears]''<br>
'''Bulkhead''': Oh... her eyes are leaking.<br>
'''Bumblebee''': You let them leak as much as you need to... we're here, and you're safe. So whatever it is, you can always talk to us... we'll listen...<br>
''[Sari sniffles]''<br>
'''Sari''': Thank you...
:{{m-}}[[Tara Strong]] gets even the most hard-hearted of fans sympathizing with Sari. ''Voice acting goddess!''

==Other notes==
*This episode was first broadcast in Canada on April 19, one week before its United States premiere.

===Continuity errors===
* When Optimus stops Masterson's escape, he asserts the villain is going "back to prison", although the Headmaster has yet to serve time at all.
<!--===Transformers references===-->

===Real-world references===
* Bumblebee mentions Sari could have come from a cabbage patch, a reference to [[Wikipedia:Cabbage Patch Kids|Cabbage Patch Kids]].
* Powell makes a passing reference to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, also known as "the Mounties".
* Bulkhead's "came here from another planet in some kind of egg" comment could be a reference to 1970s sitcom, ''[[Wikipedia:Mork and Mindy|Mork and Mindy]]''. Or, you know...''Superman.''

===Miscellaneous trivia===
* Powell claims Optimus and Sentinel's clash with Masterson took place in "international waters". There are no ''international'' waters in Lake St. Clair or Lake Erie, just American and Canadian waters. (But then, this is the future.) The "Mounties" remark is still relevant.
*Apparently calling the police to report fabricated events (about Decepticons) doesn't constitute a crime in [[Detroit]].
*[[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] and [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]] do not appear in this episode.
*The Mayor's aide has gotten in more dialog than her boss... despite only having a single line.
*When Sentinel asks for Optimus to cover for him, Optimus mentions how Sentinel "covered for him" all those years ago, presumably after the Elita-1 incident. Maybe this is the reason that Optimus washed out of the [[Autobot Academy]]?
*Either the events of this episode span at least two days and two nights, or the sun goes down roughly [[Transformers (2007)|every couple of hours]].
*Given they presumably had very little time to prepare, the Autobots have whipped up a surprisingly comfortable room for Sari in their factory, doubly surprising given the lack of proper materials to hand. Who wouldn't want to sleep in a bed made from a giant radial tire!?
*On the other hand, their idea of proper human cuisine needs some work, since the meal they provided for Sari consisted of a bunch of acorns, a fish skeleton (with flies buzzing around it), a live rabbit, and some miniature barrels of [[oil]].
*Professors Bumblebee and Bulkhead seriously need their own show. Imagine [[Dinobots (Animated)|the teaching aids they'd bring to a paleontology class]].
*Porter C. Powell is shaping up to be a bigger villain than all the previous human bad-guys in the series combined.
*To go with his Captain America-inspired shield, Sentinel turns out to have an energy lance and a very knight-like battle mask.
*Prowl is in this episode for less then thirty seconds, yet is still the one who ends up solving one of the episode's conflicts. He's that good.

'''Stasis lock''' is a critical state of being for Transformers. Stasis lock is a sort of coma that allows a Transformer to stay alive, running at the lowest level of power, despite massive energy loss or traumatic damage. Stasis lock can come about in a few different ways.

The first way is from a shock of massive damage. When the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] crashed on [[Earth]] all of the occupants on board were [[retcon]]ned into emergency stasis lock. At various times during the Beast Wars combatants had to be returned to their respective bases due to going into stasis lock after being badly damaged.

The second way seems to be a more gradual process and can come about from damage and energy depletion over a longer period of time. [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] was told by his internal computer to go into stasis lock or risk losing his [[spark]]. This method is a conscious decision, and the Transformer can choose to override stasis lock, unlike the first way which seems to be an unconscious action by the Transformer's on-board computer.

''(Note: The concept of stasis lock was first introduced in the Beast Wars television series. Stasis lock was retconned into being a Generation 1 term and has since been applied to nearly all subsequent versions of the Transformers story.)''

==Animated==
In ''[[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|Transformers Animated]]'', "stasis lock" is used in a different sense - through the use of [[stasis cuffs]], a Transformer can be prevented from moving or using any special powers they possess - without being rendered unconscious or incapable of speech. [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]], when placed in this condition by [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] referred to this as "stasis lock". {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}} Whether this is the only form of stasis lock in this continuity or if it is only a special type has yet to be determined.

'''Convinced there are no Decepticons left on Earth, the Elite Guard prepares to take Optimus Prime and his crew back to Cybertron, unaware of the increasing Decepticon activity taking place under their very noses.'''

==Summary==
The Autobot Ironhide sends a message to the Earth Autobots, revealing he is under attack from Decepticons, and has already lost one [[space bridge]]. He requests back up but the transmission is cut off. Ultra Magnus explains this is but one of many reports of rising Decepticon activity. Jazz thinks it is due to the rumours of Megatron's survival, and Sentinel can't resist an opportunity to make a snide comment about the source of those rumours; Optimus Prime. Magnus decides that all Earth bound Autobots will make preparations to leave the planet, and when Optimus protests due to the presence of Decepticons on Earth, Ultra Magnus brushes him off. When Optimus tries to make his case, Sentinel butts in with another tirade about putting Prime up for an inquiry, with Optimus seeing it as merely another word for court martial. Ultra Magnus tries to make his position clear; that in the long run, everyone is better off believing Megatron is dead, rather then cause panic among the Autobots and strengthen the resolve of the Decepticons by putting forward the idea of the Decepticon leader surviving, and the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] being destroyed. An outraged Optimus is forced into compliance.

Back at the factory, Sari is heartbroken by the idea of her friends being forced to leave Earth. The situation is made worse when Sentinel shows up, and with his usual grace and tact, tells Sari to belt up, and officially inducts Optimus' team in the war effort. In the middle of insulting the "repair grunts", he makes a gesture of sorts to Optimus; do as Ultra Magnus says, admit he's been lying and Sentinel will use his connections to get Optimus' military career back on track, as thanks for the recent Headmaster incident. When Optimus tells him what to do with his offer, Sentinel places him under formal arrest.

[[Image:Tooyoungtodie.JPG|left|thumb|200px|Go to your happy place, Screamer.]]
On a garbage scow moving along the river, Starscream suddenly reactivates. Disorientated, he panics when he realises not only can he not pick up any Decepticon energy signatures, he can't even pick up his own! After a moment of shock, he recovers and gets his bearings, he's alive and still on Earth. Furious at Megatron's attempt on his life, he transforms and blasts off into the sky.

At the Decepticon base, Blitzwing and Lugnut successfully test out Professor Sumdac's new Decepticon signal dampener. Mildly impressed, Megatron quickly moves on, demanding the creation of a subspace communicator so he can contact his forces in space so he can call off the skirmishes until he can build his own space bridge. When Sumdac comments that Earth technology is too primitive, he smugly informs him that they will simply steal the required tech from the Elite Guard's ship. Meanwhile, the Autobots are trying to figure out what to do with Sari, and take her to the most together human they know; Captain Fanzone, although they do point out a lot of the humans they know are criminally insane. While they handle that, Optimus is on the Elite Guard's ship, with Sentinel still trying to convince him to play ball. While they argue, Lugnut and Blitzwing tunnel under the ship's shield, and steal a tachyon generator. As they make their escape, they fail to notice Starscream tailing them back to base.

[[Image:Swordscream.JPG|Left|thumb|200px|And so begins the greatest TF montage of all time.]]
As Lugnut presents his prize to Megatron, Starscream makes his presence known. What follows is a quick but decisive victory for Megatron who simply slashes Starscream, before blasting him point blank. Lugnut checks to see if Starscream is still online, and finding no spark, helps Blitzing toss his corpse into the river. After floating downstream, Starscream suddenly reactivates, again. He realises he lacks a spark, and discovers he is being kept alive by a fragment of the AllSpark buried in his head, effectively making him immortal. Delighted, he declares the end of the Megatron's era. As Megatron sends his message out to the Decepticons, Starscream attacks!...and is promptly killed again. After a couple more fruitless attempts, he starts to wonder if he needs a new strategy. His fragment allows him to locate a second shard, and a plan begins to formulate...

At the Elite Guard ship, Magnus presses Optimus Prime to cooperate, when Jazz reveals that he's discovered s sudden surge in AllSpark energy. Concluding that it's another shard, Magnus and Jazz go to retrieve it, while Sentinel is to remain and watch Optimus. As Sentinel moans, Optimus realizes that they had only found AllSpark shards before due to [[Sari Sumdac's key|Sari's key]]. Doing a thermal scan, he discovers Starscream. Optimus tries to warn Ultra Magnus, but Sentinel threatens to put him in [[stasis cuffs]] if he tries to leave. Optimus is able to take Sentinel down and place him in the cuffs, then [[roll out|rolls out]]. Meanwhile, the Autobots are watching Sari "interview" Captain Fanzone, who is not very fond of children. Optimus contacts the Autobots and tells them to meet him en route to the train.

As Starscream gloats about his plan to draw Megatron out and kill him in a massive explosion, Ultra Magnus and Jazz arrive, as do Megatron and Blitzwing. Megatron realizes that it's a trap by Starscream, while Magnus and Jazz have trouble getting the shard out. An energy surge throws the Elite Guard off the train. Ahead of the tracks, Optimus orders Prowl to sever the passenger cars from main car, while Bumblebee takes Sari to use the to remove the shard. They succeed, but the train still nearly crashes, only stopped because Ratchet uses his magnets to stop them, while Bulkhead grabs the rear of the train, grounded by Optimus Prime. As Starscream fumes about the lost opportunity, Megatron appears, ready to beat him senseless.

On the ground, Ultra Magnus reprimands Optimus Prime, while Sentinel Prime arrives and accuses him of assault. Optimus defends his position, both Elite Guardsmen point out that there is no evidence of Decepticons{{m-}}only for Starscream to crash into the ground mere meters away, causing Sentinel Prime to freak out at the sight of an actual Decepticon. Quickly coming back online, Starscream takes advantage of Magnus' momentary inattention to blast the Autobot leader into unconciousness from point-blank range, taking the shard with him. The Autobots attempts to take down Starscream fail, until Optimus comes up with a plan - although an intervention from Jazz is required to make Sentinel go along with it. Having Sentinel draw his attention, Optimus uses the stasis-cuffs on Starscream, who is taken to the Elite Guard ship - with his mouth riveted shut.

Ultra Magnus admits that Optimus Prime was right about there being Decepticons on Earth, and though Sentinel Prime brings up the assault and insubordination charges, Magnus says that Optimus was still right. Magnus decides that Optimus Prime's crew will remain on Earth to locate the remaining AllSpark shards and capture the Decepticons, while the Elite Guard returns to Cybertron for Magnus to conduct the war effort. Sari is overjoyed that the Autobots are staying, but promises Captain Fanzone that they can still hang out.

Meanwhile, Megatron tells his minions to inform their double-agent that the Decepticons have repledged their allegiance to Megatron, and that their attacks will draw Autobot forces away from Cybertron. Once the space bridge technology is fully developed, they will return to Cybertron, and conquer the planet from with...
"Fellow Decepticons, take heed. Your leader, Megatron, still lives! Though we remain dispersed throughout the far reaches of the galaxy, exiled from our true home, we are all still Decepticons, united by a common purpose. The time has come for us to put aside our differences, and act as one under my undisputed leadership. Only then can we cast off the shackles of Autobot oppression. ==Other notes==
*This episode was first broadcast in Canada on April 26, one week before its United States premiere, and during the American premiere of the episode [[The Return of the Headmaster|The Return of the Headmaster]].

===Continuity errors===
*On the previous episodes the Autobots were seen cleaning up the place where they battled Megatron, thus one of them would have to have thrown Starscream corpse into the trash. Kinda cold hearted there.
*Megatron and the other Decepticons don't seem to wonder why it is that Starscream keeps coming back, despite the fact that they note that his spark compartment is empty.
*Megatron shattered Starscream's yellow cockpit with his sword the first time he "kills" him in the episode, leaving his empty spark chamber visible. When Starscream pulls a Captain Jack, it is still missing. After he sees his reflection in the water, it is suddenly present and intact once more.

===Transformers references===
*Much like [[Starscream (G1)|his Generation 1 counterpart]], [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] is now immortal, only this time they actually explain why and leave him with a body.
===Real-world references===
===Miscellaneous trivia===
*Along with [[Transformer|machines]], it seems [[Captain Fanzone]] doesn't like kids.
*Starscream gets beaten up by Megatron (and thrown into a river) five times in a ''single episode''. Must be a new record.
* Double agent...[[Sideways|Hmm...]]
*Ultra Magnus got defeated by Starscream after only one shot (though at point blank range to the face), while Megatron shrugs them off and repeatedly defeats Starscream...It's to hope that Magnus never has to face Megatron.
'''Optimus Prime is forced to team up with his rival Sentinel Prime after Sentinel has a humiliating encounter with the Headmaster.'''

==Summary==

Ultra Magnus congratulates both of them and takes his leave to contact [[Cybertron Command]] on an issue of great importance (not important enough to happen on camera though).

==Other notes==
*This episode was first broadcast in Canada on April 19, one week before its United States premiere.

===Continuity errors===
* When Optimus stops Masterson's escape, he asserts the villain is going "back to prison", although the Headmaster has yet to serve time at all.
<!--===Transformers references===-->

===Real-world references===

===Miscellaneous trivia===
* Powell claims Optimus and Sentinel's clash with Masterson took place in "international waters". There are no ''international'' waters in Lake St. Clair or Lake Erie, just American and Canadian waters. (But then, this is the future.) The "Mounties" remark is still relevant.
*Apparently calling the police to report fabricated events (about Decepticons) doesn't constitute a crime in Detroit.
[[Image:Prime-Sam-Mikaela-poster.jpg|left|thumb|150px|Optimus...]]

The movie features [[Sam Witwicky]], a plucky teenager who just wants a cool car, but gets more than he bargained for. The beater he and his father take home is actually [[Bumblebee]], an alien robot from the planet [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], who plants Sam down in the middle of a civil war between Bumblebee's benevolent [[Autobot]] comrades and the evil [[Decepticon]]s who threaten the galaxy's peace. Both sides are after the [[All Spark]], a mysterious artifact that landed on Earth ten thousand years ago. The approaching robot-against-robot battle is a coming-of-age moment for Sam, who learns the meaning of his family's motto, "No sacrifice, no victory."
==Full synopsis==

[[Image:Allspark movie.jpg|thumb|right|200px|With this, I shall make you my slave!]]
The film begins with the history of Cybertron's destruction at the hands of Megatron, and his quest to obtain the All Spark. Megatron discovers the All Spark on Earth, but crash-lands in the Arctic Circle, becoming frozen in the ice. Captain Archibald Witwicky and his crew of explorers stumble upon Megatron's body in the late 19th century. Megatron's navigational system is unintentionally activated, and Archibald's eye glasses are imprinted with the coordinates to the All Spark's location. Sector Seven, a secret organization of the United States government, discovers the All Spark and builds the Hoover Dam around it to mask its energy signal. The still-frozen Megatron is moved into this facility, and is reverse engineered to further advance human technology.

[[Image:Movie Blackout SOCCENT.JPG|thumb|left|200px|Let the slaughter begin!]]
In the present day, the rest of the Decepticons — Blackout, Scorponok, Frenzy, Barricade, Starscream, Bonecrusher, and Devastator — have already landed on Earth and assumed the disguise of Earth vehicles. Blackout and Scorponok attack the U.S. SOCCENT Forward Operations Base in Qatar in an effort to use the military database to discover the location of Megatron and the All Spark, but they do not succeed. A small group of survivors under Captain William Lennox wander through the desert and are followed by Scorponok. The Autonomous Robotic Organism (shortened to "Autobot") known as Bumblebee is also on Earth, disguised as a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, and looking for Sam Witwicky, the descendant of Captain Archibald Witwicky. As soon as he locates Sam, the two quickly begin to bond as Bumblebee helps Sam try and woo his crush, Mikaela Banes. Sam is unaware of the fact that Bumblebee is an alien, until he witnesses Bumblebee transform and send out a homing signal for the rest of the Autobots.

At the Pentagon, Defense Secretary John Keller oversees the investigation into the attack in Qatar. After Blackout's failure, Frenzy infiltrates Air Force One and attempts to download the all information relating to "Project Iceman". However, Maggie Madsen, one of the technicians studying the Decepticon infiltration signal, discovers Frenzy's actions and convinces the Pentagon to take down the Defense Network, halting Frenzy's download. When Air Force One makes an emergency landing, Frenzy slips into Barricade, and discusses his discovery of Archibald Witwicky, who has seen [[Cybertronian languages|their language]]. Using an internet search, they discover that Sam's glasses will that will lead the Decepticons to the All Spark. Frenzy and Barricade begin tracking Sam's location. Back in Qatar, the army rangers are attacked by Scorponok, who take refugee in a nearby village. Calling the Pentagon and getting air support, they discover that the Decepticons are vulnerable to high heat weaponry such as sabot rounds. Using this information, the soldiers inform the Pentagon that they now have a weapon.

[[Image:Movie Autobots.JPG|thumb|200px|left|Wheelie say find friends today.]]
Barricade confronts Sam, demanding Archibald's glasses. Bumblebee, who is following Sam, transforms and battles Barricade. Mikaela, who is also following Sam, is caught in the crossfire, but Bumblebee is able to defeat Barricade, while Mikaela decapitates Frenzy, who is still functioning and hides in Mikaela's purse as her cellphone. Bumblebee takes Sam and Mikaela to rendezvous with the rest of the Autobots. The Autobots—Optimus Prime, Jazz, Ironhide, and Ratchet—land on Earth and take on the forms of several Earth vehicles. They all meet in a dark, secluded alley, transform in front of the two amazed humans, introduce themselves and tell of the reasons they had to come to Earth to Sam and Mikaela. Meanwhile, Maggie made a copy of the intrusion signal and shows it to her friend Glenn Whitmann, who discovers a message with the signal about Sector Seven, Captain Witwicky, and Project Iceman. However, the FBI arrest Glenn and Maggie, who desperately tries to convince them not to go to war with the wrong country.

[[Image:Movie Autobots Sector Seven.JPG|right|thumb|200px|I'll use the universal greeting.]]
Sam, Mikaela, and the Autobots then return to Sam's home to retrieve the glasses. However, agents from [[Sector Seven]] arrive to take Sam and Mikaela into custody. Reggie Simmons, the agency's director, reveals that Mikaela has a criminal record and threatens Sam with life imprisonment, at which point the Autobots disable the convoy and rescue the teens. During the retreat, Sam and Mikaela are recaptured, and Bumblebee is also apprehended, against the pleas of Sam who assures the agents—to no avail—that he means them no harm. Prime orders the Autobots to let them go, unwilling to use deadly force against the humans. At the Pentagon, a virus Frenzy uploaded during the Air Force One hack causes a global communications blackout, while Keller is finally informed of the Decepticons. After Bumblebee's capture, Optimus uses the glasses locate the All Spark at Hoover Dam, and declares that if they cannot defeat the Decepticons, he will merge the Cube with his spark.
Sam, Mikaela, Keller, Maggie, Glenn, and Lennox's unit are brought to Hoover Dam, where they are shown the frozen Megatron and the All Spark, while Frenzy slips away. Locating the All Spark, he sends out an alert to Starscream, who mobilizes the the rest of the Decepticons. Due to Starscream's attack and Frenzy's sabotage, Megatron begins to revive, and Sam convinces the Sector Seven agents to release Bumblebee so that he can get the All Spark to Optimus Prime. The Decepticons chase the Autobots, who now possess the All Spark, into Mission City.

Glenn, Maggie, Keller, and Simmons manage to contact the Air Force and direct F22s to Mission City. An ensuing battle results in casualties for both sides, including Jazz, who is killed by Megatron, while Bumblebee is crippled in an explosion. As Lennox orders Sam to take the All Spark to a building to be removed from the city, under escort from Ironhide and Ratchet, Megatron and Optimus Prime battle, while the soldiers remain to fight Devastator. Mikaela drags the injured Bumlebee away from the battle with a tow truck, but goes back, with Bumblebee's weapons killing Devastator. Ironhide and Ratchet are incapacitated by Starscream, and Megatron joins the pursuit.

[[Image:Megatron allspark merge.JPG|right|thumb|200px|Now, light our darkest hour!]]
Sam's helicopter is destroyed by Starscream, and Prime challenges Megatron. The battle is fierce and dominated by Megatron. Blackout attempts to assist Megatron, but is killed by Lennox and the Air Force before he can engage. Starscream hides among a raptor squadron, destroying three fighters. Despite this, the Air Force and Lennox's rangers manage to inflict serious damage on Megatron, but he is still functional, and heading toward the Cube. Finally, with both Prime and Megatron weakened, Prime beckons Sam to shove the All Spark into his chest, destroying them both, but Sam instead takes the riskier action of shoving the All Spark into Megatron's chest.
Optimus thanks Sam for his courage and for saving his life, while Bumblebee, who has regained his voice, asks permission to remain with Sam, which is granted. In an attempt to cover up the existence of the Transformers, Sector Seven is disbanded, while the remains of the Decepticons are cast into the Laurentian Abyss. With no other home to go to—Cybertron having been destroyed by Megatron—the Autobots decide to stay on Earth, and Optimus sends out a signal across space in an effort to locate any surviving Autobots, while Sam and Mikaela begin a relationship. Starscream, one of the Decepticons that survived the battle, leaves Earth.
"Before time began, there was the Cube. We know not where it comes from, only that it holds the power to create worlds and fill them with life. That was how our race was born. For a time, we lived in harmony, but like all great power, some wanted it for good, others for evil. And so began the war - a war that ravaged our planet until it was consumed by death, and the Cube was lost to the far reaches of space. We scattered across the galaxy, hoping to find it and rebuild our home, searching every star, every world. And just when all hope seemed lost, message of a new discovery drew us to an unknown planet called... Earth. But we were already too late."
==Other editions==
The 2007 Transformers film has more than one 'cut.'

* The worldwide theatrical release was essentially identical all around the world with a few minor exceptions.
** The film board of Malaysia{{fact}} required [[Judy Witwicky]]'s masturbation reference be removed. However, no such change has been made and her lines were not omitted from the film.
* The [[Wikipedia:IMAX|IMAX]] edition of the movie features two minutes of additional footage in the form of slightly extended scenes and very brief new scenes. Added material includes the following:
**Before heading to the lake party, Sam is shown picking Miles up at his house. Miles derides Sam's choice of car colors.
**After Sam is questioned by the sheriff at the police station, he is given an anti-drug bumper sticker and shown the "[[wikipedia:This is Your Brain on Drugs|This is Your Brain on Drugs]]" [[Public service announcement|PSA]] starring [[wikipedia:Rachel Leigh Cook|Rachel Leigh Cook]].
**After abducting Sam and Mikaela, Agent Simmons uses a device to monitor Sam's pupil dilation while interrogating him in the truck. He also remarks that he has "been there" when it comes to women with criminal records.
**Upon arriving at Hoover Dam, Simmons remarks colorfully that it is "Area 50". A few minutes later, he lists the nicknames of all the U.S. Presidents to have toured the facility.
**In Mission City, Lennox acquires short-range radios from a gun-toting, but easily-flattered, pawn shop owner.

==Prequel material==
Prior to the movie's release [[IDW]] Publishing released a four issue limited comic series entitled "[[Prime Directives]]", which chronicles the events which bring the Transformers to [[Earth]]. An animated version will be featured on the DVD.[http://tformers.com/Animated-Movie-Prequel-A-Movie-DVD-Bonus-Feature/8268/news.html] A novel, ''[[Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday]]'', is about the truth behind humankind's first venture into space and how that event is related to the Transformers' presence on Earth, both past and present.

Since the movie's plot brings the audience into things from Sam's POV, as he learns of not only the Transformers' war but mankind's past history with Cybertronians, the prequel material provides a better handle on the intricate storyline.

It should be noted, however, that some dialogue in the film contradicts the prequel material, specifically pertaining to the years in which the frozen Megatron was moved from the Arctic to Hoover Dam.

Included in a Wal-Mart 2-Disc exclusive of the Movie DVD is a bonus disc entitled ''Transformers Beginnings'' a not-really-animated animatic version of IDW's Prime Directives prequel comics, voiced by some of the actors from the movie, the game and a bunch of other people.

==Sequels==
''See [[Transformers 2]].''

A sequel to this film is in production and is scheduled for release in 2009.

IDW is also releasing comic sequel to the film featuring Starscream as the main Decepticon.

==Reception==
The movie set multiple records when it opened, including biggest opening week gross for a non-sequel ($155.4 million), biggest Tuesday release gross ($27.4 million), biggest July 4th gross ($29 million), and the biggest foreign film opening in mainland China ($3 million).

The movie closed domestically on November 8, 2007, during which time it took in $319,071,806. (Domestic gross accounted for $310,578,372 before the IMAX version's release.) As of November 15, 2007, it has earned a ''worldwide'' gross of $702,918,603. It currently sits [http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm at spot #19] in the "most domestic gross" list of movies, though this listing is ''not'' adjusted for inflation. When taking inflation into account, ''Transformers'' [http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm just ekes in at spot #95].

Critical reception was hit-and-miss, [http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/transformers_the_movie/ more positive than negative but not by a lot], though it's sometimes hard to tell how many negative reviewers were more interested in criticizing [[Michael Bay]] in general over the movie itself. Otherwise, the most common negatives involved it being a generally think-free "spectacle"-style movie; even those who rated the movie positively noted it was a pure "popcorn" movie meant to wow its audience with [[CGI]] and explosions rather than make them think (Richard Roper noted in his "thumbs up" review "it has no nutritional value"). Whether one considers that a good or bad thing for a movie and if the movie was enough fun to overcome that is, of course, highly debatable. The other main culprit, again noted by many of the positive reviews, was its long running time, particularly the overly-chaotic, often hard-to-follow final big-bang extended ending action sequence. ([http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070705/REVIEWS/70620006/1023 Roger Ebert] noted that this sequence was what made him give the movie three out of four stars rather than the full four.)

Transformers was nominated for three Oscars, in the fields of Achievement in Sound Editing, Achievement in Sound Mixing, and Achievement in Visual Effects. The sound awards went to ''The Bourne Ultimatum'', and the visual effects award went to ''The Golden Compass''.

Currently, two sequels are planned, with [[Shia LaBeouf]] and [[Peter Cullen]] signed for both. Michael Bay, Spielberg, and the two screenwriters have also returned, with pre-production already underway. Filming for TF2 is scheduled to begin in June 2008, for a planned release date of June 2009.
==Trivia==
* The Autobot computer generated models consisted of 35,592 total pieces, 7,435,478 polygons, 95,247 rig nodes, and 20,258 texture maps. If laid end to end, the pieces would stretch 3.11 miles.

* For all the robots combined, there are 60,217 pieces of geometry, 123,509,502 polygons, 144,341 rigging nodes, and 34,215 texture maps.<ref>Robertson, Barbara (2007). Heavy Metal. ''Computer Graphics, 30''(7), 12-17.</ref>

* The events of the movie span 4-5 days.

* The irony of the movie is that neither the Autobots nor the Decepticons were referred to once as "Transformers".

==Transformer References==
The movie contains a number of nods and winks to previous iterations of ''Transformers'', primarily from [[Generation 1]]. Some of these were included in direct response to urgings of the fans; others originated with the production crew.
* The basic story set-up is similar to many iterations of the ''Generation 1'' story -- two warring factions, the noble Autobots and the power-hungry Decepticons, arrive on Earth, having left their devastated home planet, the war-torn mechanical world of Cybertron.
* Many of the featured Transformers are re-imagined versions of characters from ''Generation 1''. [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] in particular are similar in physical form and characterization to their movie incarnations. The original versions of [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], and [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] differ in appearance but fulfill story roles similar to their Movie versions.
* Though the characters are new, "[[Frenzy]]", "[[Scorponok]]", "[[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]]", "[[Devastator (disambiguation)|Devastator]]", "[[Blackout]]", "[[Barricade]]", and "[[Bonecrusher]]" are all names that have been used on Transformer characters before.
* Blackout's symbiotic relationship with Scorponok originated as an interpretation of [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] and his cassette troops. Frenzy's transformation into a portable stereo is likewise an homage to Soundwave's cassette deck alternate form.
* Sam shares his last name with the [[Spike Witwicky|main human allies]] of the Autobots in the original ''[[Generation 1 (cartoon)|Generation 1 cartoon]]''.
* The Autobot faction symbol seen on Bumblebee and others is basically unchanged from its ''Generation 1'' appearance.
* The All Spark takes its name from [[Allspark|a concept]] originally introduced in ''[[Beast Machines (cartoon)|Beast Machines]]''.
* The original G1 [[transformation]] sound pops up several times during the course of the film, such as Blackout's first conversion sequence (though truth be told it sounds more like it's being broadcast from a loudspeaker.)
[[Image:Movie BoliviasFinestQualityUsedCars 2.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.]]
* In his first appearance, Bumblebee parks next to a yellow Volkswagen Beetle—the alternate form of [[Bumblebee (G1)|G1 Bumblebee]].
* When instructing the Autobots to escape Sector Seven and when they later head for Hoover Dam, Optimus Prime delivers his catchphrase from the [[Generation 1 (cartoon)|''Generation 1'' cartoon]], ordering them to [[roll out|"Roll out!"]]
* Prime references "the spark within my chest". [[Spark]]s{{m-}}the life-force that makes Transformers alive{{m-}}have been an integral part of Transformers fiction since ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]''.
* Although the Transformers' primary energy supply, [[Energon]], does not make a physical appearance in the film, an SUV's licence plate bears its name, the SUV thrown through the air during Megatron's rampage in Mission City.
* Optimus Prime's line "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" is the quote from his original 1984 [[bio]].
* The scene in which Jazz yanks aside Devastator's tank barrel is a direct homage to a similar sequence from TF:TM involving Kup and Blitzwing.
* Prime's line "...one shall stand; one shall fall" comes from the 1986 animated ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]''.
* Ironhide's complaint that Mojo "leaked lubricant" on his foot references a line spoken by his ''Generation 1'' namesake in the [[More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1|first episode of the original cartoon]], in which he famously exclaimed "Leakin' lubricant!"

==Errors==
* Sunset occurs roughly every fifteen minutes. Possibly indicative of time passage, but a little too much to not warrant mention in the actual movie.

*When Sam's car breaks down and Mikaela gets out to look at the engine, she leaves the passenger door open. When the car restarts and Sam leaves to close the hood, the passenger side door is now shut.

* After Bumblebee backs into a corner of the power plant to evade Barricade, there is a close up shot of him spinning his wheels to make his getaway. However, the shot of the wheels spinning is at a different location: the empty warehouse that Bumblebee and Barricade had raced through moments earlier.

* During the scene where Optimus Prime scans a truck for his new body, the passing truck has what appears to be an Autobot sigil on its grill, but the actual truck that Prime turns into at the end of the scene has a much wider, flatter symbol on the grill, quite possibly a Peterbilt sign.

* When Simmons replays Sam's "last words" recorded onto his cell phone, it doesn't match what he said in the scene where he actually recorded them.

* When the Autobots arrive to rescue Sam and Mikaela from Agent Simmons, Ironhide is the first Autobot to reach the damaged SUV and the other Sector Seven agents. Behind him, Ratchet is making his way towards the SUV, while Jazz and Bumblebee have their respective weapons drawn. However, in the very next shot, Ratchet's gun is suddenly in front of Ironhide, who is now making two short steps towards the SUV, while Jazz's gun has been replaced by his hand (which he uses to magnetically pull Sector Seven's guns away). In the shot after that, Jazz is just standing around sans Sector Seven guns, while Bumblebee wanders up and draws his gun... again.

* It is explained that the AllSpark was dated with carbon-dating. However, the carbon-dating process is actually only useful in dating organic materials, and so would be useless in dating a metallic artifact like the AllSpark.

* When Lennox arrives as Sam and Mikaela are supposedly strapping Bumblebee with the tow truck's chains, Bumblebee is not actually there. When the shot changes angles to the other side of the truck, Bumblebee is sitting right beside the truck while Sam directs Mikaela to wrap Bumblebee in the chains. When Lennox tells Sam to evacuate the Cube, subsequent camera angles from this side of the truck are actually where Bumblebee was moments earlier, but he's not there again (it is unlikely the angle was meant to be from Bumblebee's perspective). When Sam starts to run off and Mikaela calls him back, Bumblebee is once again clearly not sitting beside the truck. In fact, the space he once occupied has the beige van he crawled out of, earlier in the battle.

* ''See also: [[Mission City]].''

===Not actually an error===
* Sam and Mikaela, as well as Maggie and Glenn arrive at Hoover Dam on the same helicopter despite being from opposite ends of the country. Occasionally cited as an error, it is actually a narrative oversight, as it is likely that Sam and Mikaela were held in custody at a U.S. Air Base while waiting for Maggie and Glen to arrive with Secretary Keller's party by plane, then they all left for Hoover Dam together on the helicopters.
'''Sari Sumdac''', the adopted daughter of robotics genius [[Isaac Sumdac]], doesn't get out much. She spends all her time within her father's laboratories, receiving her education from [[Tutor Bot|robots]]. Despite this, she doesn't seem like a shut-in. She's curious, excitable, adventurous, and knows that crying can sometimes get her what she wants. She just doesn't know what it's like to be around other kids. When her pet robot dog, Sparkplug, stole her security key card, Sari chased it outside and was confronted by [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]], who spoke to her as if she were Sparkplug's pet. Naturally, she freaked out, but quickly befriended Bumblebee once he saved her from a giant bug that had grown from her father's nanite experiment gone awry. Stowing away on Bumblebee and coming aboard the ''[[Ark (Animated)|Ark]]'', she came across the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]], which infused part of its power into her security key. This allowed her to heal [[Transformer]]s, such as the injured [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]], earning her brownie points with the 'Bots. She also managed to talk the police down from shooting the Autobots, saying they were friendly (except [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]], who was grumpy, but not evil). Sari later helped teach the Autobots about [[Earth]] and [[human]]s, explaining their method reproduction to a ''very'' startled [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]].
During the unveiling of her father's new transit system, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] arrived and attacked. Bumblebee took a shot meant for Sari, allowing Starscream to capture him, Professor Sumdac, the Mayor, and [[Captain Fanzone]]. Sari came up with the idea to distract Starscream while she and Prowl rescued the others (even faking some tears to make it happen).

On Sari's eighth birthday, the only other kids who turned up were the children of her dad's employees. None of them really wanted to be there and soon focused their attention on the Autobots. Sari was left alone and shunned along with Bulkhead, both morose that the kids didn't like them. Her father's present, a music robot called [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]], cheered her up, and she soon began neglecting her friendship with Bulkhead in favour of her new toy. Repeated uses of her AllSpark Key turned Soundwave into a malevolent, sentient being who tried to enslave Humanity, and she learnt she'd been wrong to ignore her friend. {{storylink|Sound and Fury}}

When the [[Decepticon]]s [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] and [[Lugnut]] arrived on Earth, the two Decepticons manhandled the Autobots. Although they survived, it made apparent the fact that more would come looking for the AllSpark, so the Autobots decided to repair the ''Ark'' and leave Earth. Sari's reaction to this was displeasure (in the form of a high pitch shout of NO!). However, they needed Sari's key to assist Ratchet in repairing the ship. Sari was unwilling to help them leave, nor was she pleased to work with a grouch like Ratchet (who was not that keen on working with a [[protoform]]), but they managed to get her to the ship. While alone with the AllSpark, Sari decided to try and sabotage the ship, thereby keeping the Autobots on Earth (and dooming her species to enslavement and/or extinction) but the key repaired the damage. After that, the AllSpark showed her an image of [[Megatron (Animated)|a giant Transformer]]. In her panic, Sari opened the air lock, nearly drowning, but Ratchet saved her. Ratchet then explained that they were leaving because they couldn't risk anything happening to Earth, or Sari. Swayed by his compassion, Sari used her key to reactivate the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s decommissioned weapons, reducing Blitzwing and Lugnut to pieces. {{storylink|Lost and Found (Animated episode)|Lost and Found}}

Eventually, [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] had decided that the AllSpark key was no longer safe in Sari's hands, and ordered Ratchet to take it from her. Distraught, Sari runs off crying, only to be captured later by [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]], who was looking for the key herself. Sari basically tells her 'too little, too late' and the two basically have a heart to heart about their gripes with the Autobots. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 1}}

{{spoiler|Megatron Rising - Part 2}}

While Sari was actually misleading Blackarachnia in circles around the frozen Lake Erie, she was grabbed by Ratchet as he brought the ''Ark'' out of the lake. She was ticked that Ratchet had lost her key, and that her dad had helped rebuild [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], but the blame game passed after the ship crashed on [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]]. Prime told the Sumdacs to stay with the ship while they went to fight off Megatron. Fearing that they might die, Isaac Sumdac said that there was something that he needed to tell Sari, but she was more interested in finding something else the AllSpark could charge. The AllSpark refused to respond, other than cryptically displaying an image of a DNA strand. Suddenly, Megatron and Prime burst through the hull of the ''Ark'', and during their fight, the key once again fell into her hands. Sari tossed it to Optimus Prime, who used the key destroy the AllSpark and disperse its energy.

Acknowledging that he had been wrong in taking from her, Optimus Prime gave the key back to Sari, saying that as the most powerful Cybertronian artifact on Earth, it was too important to be left in the hands of an Autobot. Unfortunately, all was not well, for Sari could not find her dad...as he was now a prisoner of Megatron. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 2}}

==Trivia==

*See that picture of Sari up top? She's got different boots in-show.

*Unused animation from an early version of the opening credits showed Sari riding a tricycle that transformed into a jetpack. This device has never actually appeared in the series.

==Sari and fans==

*Fan reaction to Sari has been mixed{{m-}}some fans hate her, quite a few love her, and some are neutral. Considering the widespread vitriol heaped upon previous child characters in Transformers shows (e.g., [[Kicker]]), that means she's come off reasonably well.

*In contrast, her ''deus ex machina'' AllSpark key was initially less popular. However, later episodes in the first season showed it to have potentially disastrous effects when used frivolously (e.g., [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]]), and hopefully, she will cease using it as the cure for all ills.

*Since virtually the premiere of the show, fans have been speculating whether there is "more than meets the eye" to Sari; some theorize she could turn out to be a robot, though this is not really borne out by the events of the show that mark her as clearly organic (e.g., she is aged by anti-organic radiation in "[[Along Came a Spider]]" and catches a cold in "[[Nature Calls]]"). There is definitely ''something'' mysterious going on, though, as hinted by voice actor Tara Strong who said in an interview that Sari's "entire identity might come as a surprise." Actual in-show evidence of the mystery in the Sumdac family first surfaced in "[[Megatron Rising - Part 2]]", when Isaac, feeling that the end was nigh for both himself and his daughter, attempted to tell her "something important," only for Sari to run off before he could continue. In the same episode, a point is made of restating the fact that the AllSpark "chose" Sari to bear its power, and when Sari asks it for an explanation, it projects an image of a DNA strand surrounding a [[spark|blue, glowing orb]]. Although there is obviously much information yet to be divulged, the implication is that Sari is, somehow, a unique being. The most interesting piece of evidence for this is the revelation that there is no paper evidence of Sari's existence on Earth, such as social security or birth certificate, as shown in "[[The Elite Guard]]."

*Sari is the first person to explain human [[reproduction]] to a Transformer (in a whisper). Optimus Prime looked shocked by the explanation. However, it is possible that she described what a typical parent would tell a child, such as a stork delivering children, which would undoubtably sound ludicrous. However, since the Transformers seem to have little to no experience with organic life, Optimus Prime may have taken Sari's explanation as fact. Logic may also dictate that, since Sari must have been created by the process, she would almost assuredly know what it is, further adding credibility in Optimus Prime's mind.
==Notes==
[[Image:Sariprime.jpg|right|thumb|150px|Prime was never the same after this.]]

*Sari is the first person to explain human [[reproduction]] to a Transformer (in a whisper). Optimus Prime looked shocked by the explanation. However, it is possible that she described what a typical parent would tell a child, such as a stork delivering children, which would undoubtably sound ludicrous. However, since the Transformers seem to have little to no experience with organic life, Optimus may have taken Sari's explanation as fact. Logic may also dictate that, since Sari must have been created by the process, she would almost assuredly know what it is, further adding credibility.

*Fan reaction to Sari has been mixed{{m-}}some fans hate her, quite a few love her, and some are neutral. Considering the widespread vitriol heaped upon previous child characters in Transformers shows (e.g., [[Kicker]]), that means she's come off reasonably well.

*In contrast, her ''deus ex machina'' All Spark key was initially less popular. However, later episodes in the first season showed it to have potentially disastrous effects when used frivolously (e.g., [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]]), and hopefully, she will cease using it as the cure for all ills.

*Unused animation from an early version of the series' opening credits showed Sari using a tricycle that transformed into a jetpack. This device hasn't surfaced in the series as of February 2008.
