:Swindle is a Decepticon in the live action Transformers film continuity family and ALSO a bunch of mass-produced drones on both sides.

Swindle is one of many Decepticons ordered to Earth by Megatron to cause havoc for the Autobot forces there. He's well suited to the task. Swindle is not a great fighter and, more, he's dumb as a post, but he takes great glee in blowing things (any "things") to pieces and that's worth something right? Generally he leaps and hops around the battlefield like a madman, blasting explosives out of his chest cannon and laughing uncontrollably. Havoc is a given when he's around. He's also an enthusiastic but unfortunately ineffectual interrogator.

Sometimes there are lots of him.

On both sides.

IDW Prequel Comic
Swindle (or a Swindle, one could argue the apparent intelligence displayed as evidence for either, really) was in charge of torturing the location of the All Spark out of Bumblebee's team after their capture at Tyger Pax. Even though he killed one of the team, he failed do extract any information from them, but succeeded at pissing off Megatron, who dismissed all of his underlings... then promised the relieved Swindle a slow and torturous death.

Luckily for Swindle, Megatron took off into space and was lost before he was able to follow through on his threats.

:(Note: Swindle inexplicably has modern-Earth car kibble on him when he is seen on pre-Earth-contact Cybertron centuries before the automobile was invented... while Bumblebee and the other Autobots do not. Hm.)

Drones
Battle For the Allspark online game
Swindle units have excellent speed, fair attack power, but very weak defense. They are differentiated primarily by their heads; Autobot versions have a faceplate with separate eyes, while the Decepticon versions have a lens-head.

Transformers The Game (console)
Swindles are very common foes sent against both sides, though the largest concentration of them is in Tranquility. The Decepticon ones are particularly fond of lying in wait in their car modes and springing sneak attacks on any passerby Autobot. They are stronger than the Scrapper units, but not by a lot, and are generally easily disposed of.

Aside from the head model differences, Decepticon Swindles are a deep wine color, while Autobots are green.

Transformers Mix & Match book
Swindle appeared as an Autobot drone that had been captured by Sector Seven. It defended Maggie Madsen and Glen Whitmann from Frenzy as they signaled for reinforcements.

Toys
Transformers (2007)
*Swindle (Deluxe, 2007)

: Swindle transforms into a Chevrolet Cobalt. He's the Decepticon version, with the lens-head and is remarkably accurate to his video game design. As with most of the Movie road vehicle toys, replicates his vehicle mode realistically, even if the sculpt design is slightly genericised and has no official licensing.

:During transformation, his Automorphing gimmick flips out his head/chest section on its own from his upper torso. His torso also features a spring-loaded cannon that extends when a button on his back is pressed, and the cannon structure itself can be extended from the torso to give a more impressive appearance. If you stick something up the cannon so the inner part retracts bu no the outer part, it can get stuck. This cannon gimmick can also be used in car mode, where it looks like a super-turbo-nitro exhaust pipe.

:As is the standard in the Movie toyline, Swindle features reasonable articulation in robot mode, with ball jointed shoulders, hips and wrists and swivels at the elbows and knees. His head can barely move, but a modification may be done by the owner to increase its range of motion.

:This mold was later redecoed into Camshaft.

Trivia
* A squad of toy-like bright red Swindles appear in a cutscene of the console game... but as Autobots. Hm.

* Promotional renders for the console game also reveal a blue Swindle, though they never appear in this color in the game proper.
:Outback is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family. He is also known as Fallback.

No by-the-book soldier is Outback; for him, the rules of war
are the rules of Rafferty. If the beaten track winds, it's a fair bet he'll go straight. He's more comfortable out in the never never anyway, up grades as steep as 50 degrees, or kicking up willie willies at 110 mph. His insubordination gains him little respect from his mates, and often he finds no partner on his missions but Pat Malone and his trusty rooftop tank-jigger, loaded with armor-piercing shells.

Way in the back blocks of Outback's mind, however, there lurks a dark certainty. By the rules of Rafferty he lives, and by these rules, he
is sure, Outback's bound to be a write off. The army's run by Wallies and the war's a no-hoper, but he's not totally clapped-out yet, so he'll give it his best whirl. It's not the best attitude, but he'll share it with anyone without reserve. Outback calls a spade a ruddy spade.

Let a mission go down the gurgler, though, and Outback's the one who'll sort it. He may be largely a mediocrity; he may be an insubordinate grizzle, but his courage is beyond reproach. By the rules of Rafferty he lives, and so far they've served him well.
Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformer manga
When the Insecticons attacked Kyushu, Outback and the rest of the 4-Wheel-Drive Brigade, as well as Kenji, arrived to investigate. Outback and friends were briefly trapped inside craters by landmines but escaped once they united into some kind of crazy human pyramid. Using their combined attack, the 4-Wheel-Drive Robo Combination Scrumbuster, they drove the Insecticons away and saved Kyushu.

Surprised by a lone Decepticon killer Outback was saved from death by Optimus Prime who had accidentally returned to Cybertron along with Megatron. ...The Harder They Die! He later tried to save Optimus Prime from being executed as a spy by the Wreckers due to a rumour spread by Megatron.

When Ultra Magnus refused to believe him, Outback helped Optimus Prime to escape. The two went on the run together and pursued by the Wreckers and a squad of Guardian Droids. Outback was later seriously wounded in battle with the Guardian Droids and Optimus Prime was forced to carry him to safety.Under Fire!
Outback, having at this point renamed himself Fallback to complement his revived sense of optimism, led an Autobot strike force consisting of Chromia, Flareup and Ricochet to the planet Ceti Alpha Seven. Their target was the Insecticon cloning facility constructed there by the Decepticon general Deathsaurus. The first batch of Virulent Clones had already been completed, and the team found itself under attack before they ever reached the lab. Fallback and his team destroyed a number of clones, but, when Deathsaurus himself joined the fight, they were overwhelmed and captured. The arrival of their teammates Ironhide and Ratchet on the planet ultimately resulted in Deathsaurus' defeat and the rescue of Fallback's team. Descent Into Evil

IDW Comics continuity
Long ago, Outback and Kup crash-landed on an unknown planet covered with radioactive crystals. When they attempted to use parts of their ship to create a transmitter, the radiation overloaded the generator, and Outback was killed in the explosion. Kup, however, has since been driven insane by the radiation and not only talks to Outback's charred remains as though he were alive but uses his severed arm as a club.

Springer was able to hack into the deceased Autobot's holo-emitter to try and send Kup a message that the Autobots were coming to rescue him, but the delusional Kup saw this as a ghost making threats upon his life. Outback's remains were further crushed by an errant swipe from one of the rescue party, sending Kup into another homicidal rage.

What they did with what was left of Outback is unknown. Spotlight: Kup
