* Continuity: Revenge of the Fallen (Prequel)

On Phobos (a moon of Mars) Skids and Mudflap are posing in front of their new Decepticon friends. A very unimpressed Soundwave tells the twins he needs their full attention during the mission briefing. The former Autobots explain they are risk-taking, free spirited mavericks, not stifled boring grunts (er, no offence guys, stop growling at us Ravage!), and retrieving "some throwback" for "re-educating" is hardly a biggie. Soundwave tells them to just go and warns them not to fail him.

The twins leave for Earth. Grindor and Sideways express their distrust and annoyance with the two, but Soundwave explains to them that Skids and Mudflap are merely bait for their target, a dangerous soldier who has survived countless years on Earth. Grindor and Sideways will be waiting to take over once the target is drawn out... and if the twins survive, to rectify that...

On Earth, Skids and Mudflap bomb down the North Carolina countryside and Skids asks Mudflap if he thinks the Decepticons bought their traitor act. (Mudflap only now learns it was an act.) Skids' plan is simple: the Decepticons will send someone to keep an eye on their first mission, so all they have to do is capture whoever their shadow is and present him to the Autobots. That should prove they were framed! While Mudflap doubts this, they zero in on their target, hiding in a barn. And that target... reveals himself to be Ransack! And he's pissed off to see them!

NEST Regional Command in Wyoming picks up the battle, and it is quickly confirmed that the "two rogues" are present. Ironhide demands immediate transport for him and Sideswipe.

Back at the farm, Ransack is livid to find out the twins don't remember his name. However, Skids cuts the fight short by revealing they'd switched sides, something Ransack knows has precedent. When the Seeker retorts that he won't give his information to Soundwave's lot and talks only to the Fallen, the twins quickly lie that the Fallen personally sent them and is currently incapacitated. Ransack, having waited so long to come in from the cold, falls for the ruse and heads off with them.

Grindor and Sideways, watching the three, can barely believe that the twins have succeeded by talking instead of shooting. That sets an example they won't stand for! They start their attack run, Grindor blasting Ransack out of the sky while Sideways aims for the twins. Skids takes on the flier, and sends Mudflap after Sideways, both of them hoping to gain "a scalp" for the Autobots. Mudflap swiftly defeats the 'con car, playing chicken and forcing Sideways to swerve into a tree. While Grindor is able to return fire, Skids can dodge his attacks and aims for the rotors!

Up above, a NEST carrier plane watches the whole thing. While they're unable to land, Ironhide is determined to keep an eye on this situation, while Sideswipe notes with confusion that the twins are fighting the very 'cons they 'aided and abetted'.

Grindor finally decides enough is enough, and carries on with his primary mission: snatching the wounded Ransack and fleeing. The twins have successfully downed Sideways, but Skids (spotting NEST's plane) wants more. He's tired of being on the receiving end... he's going to right back to Soundwave and bring this conspiracy crashing down!

To Be Concluded...

Quotes
"Who's bad?"<br>
"We're bad?"
:–Skids and Mudflap upon joining the Decepticons

"Just... Go. Fail me... and you will see just how creative I can be!"
:–Soundwave

"Do you think they bought it? Our 'defection'?"<br>
"Oh, it's an act?"<br>
"Of course it's an act! Give me strength! Did you really think we'd sign up with the scuzzball Decepticons?"<br>
"Well..."
:–Skids and Mudflap
:–Skids and Mudflap trying to remember who the bot they're shooting at is

Errors
* Mudflap uses the American English spelling for "offence". This is not the first time Furman has undermined the nation's English teachers.
* Grindor's rotor is missing in robot mode.
* When Skids and Mudflap are diving near the barn, the roads change.
* As well as Grindor being the wrong colour again, Ransack changes his entire colour scheme in robot mode.
* Grindor and Sideways are WAY too small compared to the twins.

Notes
* Ransack says he hasn't heard from the Fallen in a long time. This could be an error, as he was shooting at the twins in #2 and said he was under orders from the Fallen, but this may be cleared up next issue. (Considering the Fallen has been talking with Starscream and Soundwave, he's a right dick if he has just been leaving Ransack in the cold!)
* Soundwave is after Seeker knowledge again. Ransack, for his part, seems to recognise no Decepticon command outside the Fallen.
* Mudflap is unknowingly right, the Fallen is currently incapacitated!
* In car form, Sideways can fire guns and Mudflap can raise a small forcefield.
Law and Disorder
"So 'Cade, it seems a large number of Human's celebrate an event called "Christmas" at this time of year. They gather together, exchange presents and no one shoots anyone."<br>
"The only thing we'll be exchanging is insults, you moronic Autobot! As for "not shooting" - "ceasefire" isn't in my vocabulary!"<br>
"That's a shame. I have a present here for you. It's not from me, I wouldn't douse you in coolant is you were on fire; it's from Ratchet. He said it was the diplomatic thing to do, whatever that means."<br>
"What is it? What did Ratchet send me? Give me the Christmas present!"<br>
"OK. It's this fist-shaped object in the cardboard box on the end of my arm. Can you see it? No? You need to take a closer look..."
:—Ironhide and Barricade start off their usual way.

"Ah, I remember being four. Assembling my first high yield plasma accelerator, and being told off for hanging around near the primary heat exchangers in downtown Tyger Pax."
:—Ironhide

"Will it ever end? Why do I have to endure more pictures of this yellow cretin?"
:—Barricade

"Urgh, it's one of those pedantic historical types. To be honest, Rich, you'd be better off discussing this with Ratchet, or Prime, or someone who cares."
:—<strike>IDW on Continuum</strike> Ironhide on continuity quibbles

"We'd love to see more of this sort of thing - people in costumes ..."<br>
"And if any of you dress up as Autobots I'll be forced to pay you a visit! Anyone caught being sympathetic to the enemy cause will be shipped to Cybertron for hard labour - scrubbing the iron barnacles from between the folds of the Fallen's armour with a wire brush. Enjoy."<br>
"I've met toasters more intimidating than you, Barricade. Seriously, dress up as whoever you want, kids, just send pictures!"
:—Ironhide and Barricade on cosplay

Starscream's stars
"VIRGO (23 AUG - 22 SEPT): Stand by for a hilarious series of misadventures involving a blocked sink, a troop of Baboons, several packets of boil-in-the-bag cod fillets, an F-22 Raptor and a book about flowers."

"LIBRA (23 SEPT - 23 OCT): Remember: always meet your problems head on. Unless your problem is Devastator. In which case, face them moving away very fast in the other direction."

"SCORPONOK (24 OCT - 21 NOV): It's true that it's always the winners that write history, but it's the losers that do the TRANSFORMERS Wikipedia entry."

"AIRES (21 MAR - 19 APR): With Mars aligning with Necro the Dead Planet, armies of nanobot-driven Zombie lawnmowers will attack. But any problems can be solved with a simple phonecall."

Errors
Notes
* Rather nifty cover gimmick: there's a hole cut in the cover so it looks like Optimus has shot through Starscream. The top also sticks further up, to better show you can win! Devastator (which is a pain to scan!).

* Animated fanart of Bumblebee can be seen on page 47; the legend lives on. Barricade doesn't like it, though, because it's of a Bumblebee.

* Finally the letter page refers to the Star Prize as "Law and Disorder Star Prize", not Starscream's star prize.

* Yes. Starscream just insulted us all.

Skids and Mudflap have made it to Earth! Arriving in the skies over Toronto, Canada, Mudflap accidentally whacks off the top of the CN Tower. Skids waves away his fear that he's hit something important—humans would have to be really primitive to still use radiowaves! Horrifyingly, Mudflap reveals that scans show the planet's barely passed that point. What a crappy species!

The twins land in the waters surrounding Toronto and happily swim their way to Ball's Falls (no, really). While both agree this planet's quite fun, they know they need to find the local Autobots and warn them of Starscream's army and that Star Harvester thingy. They choose two local cars for alternate modes, assuming it'll do for now and they can find something better. Mudflap comes up with a plan: find Bumblebee, and he'll show them to the others. Oh hey, remember that last time they met Bumblebee, they were all about to die horribly in that Decepticon smelting pool? What a laugh!

Elsewhere, Starscream is not having a laugh as the Fallen reacts with anger over the twins escaping. Starscream is refused permission to go after them, needing to continue the operation on Cybertron; the Fallen will use one of his agents on Earth. And Starscream better not fail again...

Back on Earth, Skids is deliberately driving on the wrong side of the Interstate I-90, hilariously risking horrible road accidents for a challenge. Mudflap agrees that's a good reason to potentially kill people, but raises the issue that they should conserve some energon in case of enemy attack. The instant his brother dismisses the idea of enemy action, Ransack makes his attack!

In Albany, New York, Sam Witwicky is suffering the embarrassment of being on campus with his parents. Bumblebee remains parked in the background, constantly scanning everything for threats and keeping his firing range perimeter clear. Suddenly, his radio automatically picks up an Autobot transmission: the twins talking to each other as they try to avoid Ransack's fire and get off the road before the humans become collatoral damage! Bumblebee locates the signal's origin, puts on a lawyer-friendly rewrite of a song, and drives off to the rescue.

North, Northwest of Albany, the twins are fleeing from Ransack through open countryside (I see what you did there Simon), slagging off his ancient alternate mode. The old fogey bellows that he is a Seeker, an ancient and superior form of Transformer life, so show some respect and get off his lawn! As an emphasis, he bombs the twins off their wheels. Mudflap notes that they're running on empty here, energon depleted, but he's got a way out...

...throwing dirt.

Which works. (You try flying blind with a clogged propeller)

With the oldie not listening, Mudflap can now admit the advantage is the Seeker's and they need cover. He figures they should make for a nearby farm for cover, but with no energy left for a burn they're going to have to run for it. Skids calls out for standard evasive, and they manage to stay ahead of Ransack's strafing for almost a whole page! But the exhausted Skids can't make it! Neither can his brother!

Both twins arm up to go down fighting, but Ransack blasts them aside and transforms to robot mode. The will of the Fallen shall be done...

And then Bumblebee turns up, blinding the enemy with a light burst and then unleashing a missile salvo! Taking direct hits, Ransack decides to pull out, but he threatens the long game will be his. All three Autobots watch a dramatically ominous storm start, and know that there's trouble coming...
Errors
* This strip is part two of an arc. And thus a Part 2 is on the recap page. Unfortunately it forgets to name that arc.
* Sam uses the American spelling for "mum". This is probably deliberate, but when five year old readers start spelling badly it's your fault, Simon!
* Sam is moving into Princeton University too early, unless that scene is supposed to just be an Open Day visit. He's also in the wrong place (Princeton is in, er, Princeton).
* Ransack should probably shouldn't namedrop the Fallen if he's trying to stop information reaching the Autobots.

Notes
* Two consecutive issues of Titan with the same artist!
* The twins don't speak like they do in the film, implying Furman's got an earlier version of the script. In-universe, they could just not have picked up Earth slang yet.
* The twins continue to stick with their battle-masks.
* Sam makes his first UK-strip appearance in Titan, as does Bumblebee's speech impediment.
* Bumblebee appears to be scanning for potential threats and keeping track of his weaponry all the time.
* The first song Bumblebee plays is Should I Stay or Should I Go? by the Clash. Except with the lyrics altered so nasty lawyers don't turn up.
* The Fallen refers to Ransack as "one of my agents", implying there's others. The next issue will point to Soundwave being one.
* That's one big homage to Hitchcock's North by Northwest!"
* Furman appears to be gently poking fun at his powerful, ancient offshoot characters (Jhiaxus et al) with the twin's response to Ransack.
* The twins take on their separate Chevy alt-modes immediately after coming to Earth, skipping the ice cream truck mode they had at the beginning of the movie and when they first arrived in IDW's Alliance comic. They imply they might change their alt modes if they feel like it, which stops this from directly clashing with the film... but does mean they thought an archaic ice cream truck was cooler than Chevy cars.
* The ending of the issue seems to reference The Terminator to an extent.

"I haven't heard this much sycophantic snivelling since the last time Starscream begged not to be killed by a particularly irate Megatron. Pathetic."<br>

"I like the interchangeable body parts idea. I could swap your head for a, say, a Nintendo DS. It's roughly the same processing power but less entertaining. HA!"<br>

Notes
*Sadly, a lot more cover text is on the cover than in last issue's preview of it. The logo being bent by Megatron is also a recent thing.
* After reprinting all of All Hail Megatron issue 1 last issue, now we're back to partial reprints. Since it was stated this run is only for 12 issues, you have to wonder how this will work...
* All Hail Megatrons "Previously" summary presents the Decepticons as never having been to Earth before, and having just won the civil war on Cybertron.
* The indicia gives congratulations to Jon Davis-Hunt and his wife for their new baby. Awwww!
* As with Skids' profile last issue, Sideswipe's appears to be based on his Revenge of the Fallen: The Movie Universe bio, but greatly expanded.
Ratchet, the Autobots' medic, is probably the bravest of them all. He'll risk his life to pull any wounded comrade from the battlefield. Indeed, he did not join Optimus Prime's team to be a soldier; rather, he's there to save lives, and thinks Prime is the best chance the universe has for peace.

A medic who dislikes violence, Ratchet's well-armed appearance is more due to being an improviser with surgical tools, such as his buzzsaw, which he discovered he had a penchant for due to his early experiences as a tool-and-die maker. Ratchet used to be a politician, Optimus Prime's chief liaison to the High Council of Ancients. He tried to find a peaceful solution to the civil war, and when this failed, he became a battlefield medic. Transformers: The Movie Guide

He would later be one of three Autobots who tried to prevent Megatron from reaching the AllSpark. However, they hadn't expected Devastator to be demented enough to set off a foldspace warhead at pointblank range, a weapon that warped everyone to different parts of the galaxy. Transformers Comic issue 2 As well as ending up in a different body, Ratchet found himself stuck in the middle of a genocidal alien war that uncomfortably mirrored Cybertron's own. By challenging and defeating Durguth, the local tyrant, he became ruler of the Thraal faction. He then ordered a ceasefire and oversaw an interim alliance, effectively bringing peace to the planet single-handed. He then set up a homing beacon in the hope of getting rescued. Transformers Comic issue 3

Ironhide eventually detected the beacon, Ratchet switched back to his green form, and the two began searching for Jazz when he didn't show. They rescued him from a predatory alien planet and then returned to Cybertron. Transformers Comic issue 6 Once on Cybertron, he decided to try out that white body again, and was part of a mission to finally medevac Bumblebee. Movie Prequel issue 1

Centuries later and immediately following the death of Megatron, Ratchet (having gone back to green) and his comrades were attacked by zombie Decepticons. After being briefly smacked aside in the fight, it occurred to Ratchet that the corpses were being animated by AllSpark energy stolen from the Allspark Mutations, and this knowledge turned the tide before the Autobots were wiped out. Transformers Comic issue 7
Ratchet was part of the outnumbered human-Autobot resistance in the conquered United States of America. Transformers Comic issue 10 Along with Ironhide, he infiltrated a Decepticon facility disguised as a (purple) Payload to stop them using the AllSpark to transform Earth, and he reluctantly decided to let the AllSpark be destroyed if it was the only way to save Earth. Unfortunately, Bonecrusher let them into the facility to kill them! Transformers Comic issue 11

Ratchet's quick tactical thinking (absorbing nearby ore to reform his offensive weaponry and armour) immediately turned the tide against the Decepticon, but only the arrival of Arcee and her crew stopped him from being gunned down by Swindles. Transformers Comic issue 12 Despite this, drone numbers were against them, and Ratchet didn't believe they could pull off a victory until he noticed a way to bypass the AllSpark's defensive forcefield and destroy the Cube with regular weaponry. Ratchet did this, saving Earth at the cost of the AllSpark, though he begged for forgiveness as he destroyed it. Transformers Comic issue 13

To his relief, a fragment of the AllSpark had survived. Optimus, worried about the fragment being corrupted by exposure to Megatron, made Ratchet its guardian. Transformers Comic issue 14 However, in the face of great Decepticon numbers, Ratchet took an unauthorised risk and used the fragment to bring Jazz back to life. The fragment's corruption meant Jazz was brought back amoral and self-serving, and Ratchet was left distraught at what he'd done. Transformers Comic issue 16

When the Autobots received an SOS from Ironhide's team on Cybertron, the entire team mobilised to head there. Ratchet hurriedly picked up Mikaela Banes so she could watch their base, ignoring every single traffic law as he did so. Transformers Comic issue 19 When on Cybertron, Ratchet found himself in battle against Unicron, trying to separate him from the Nucleon he was using to power his physical body (a possessed Cybertron!). It became clear fast that the Autobot's plan was not going to work fast enough, but Ratchet realised that such a large structure would have an energy distribution network around them; rather than drain the Nucleon manually, he sped things up by having everyone shoot the distribution network until it blew up, causing the energy to be used up in an internal fire. Who needs a Matrix when you have Ratchet! Transformers Comic issue 20
After the Decepticons re-took Savannah, Ratchet was part of the ground troops sent in to rescue Mikaela. He did bog all there, really. Transformers Comic issue 22

Many years before the war, First Officer Ratchet was a member of the science sector on Cybertron. He greeted Commander Starscream when the latter returned from a patrol in the Eshems Nebula and repaired his wounds. When he reported of promising findings in the archaeological site near the temple of Simfur, Starscream was somewhat dismissive of the science division's efforts in light of their previous failures. Later, at the excavation site, Jazz tweaked Ratchet by asking if the artifacts found were as old as the first officer. Ratchet exaggerated being upset and deployed his various tools, threatening Jazz that he was just as good as disabling vocal processors as he was fixing them. When Optimus walked off with Protector Megatron, Ratchet wacked Jazz on the back of the head. He was present when Arcee's team found a strange artifact with the strange symbol and helped escort the relic out of the dig site when the aliens whom Starscream had encountered earlier suddenly attacked the planet. Defiance issue 1

After the alien attack ceased, Ratchet and Arcee analysed the remains of the attackers, discovering that the aliens were similar in structures to Cybertronians, even to the point of having something similar to a spark core, but only lacked the means to transform. Before they could speculate further, Signal Flare arrived, with orders from Optimus to assemble for a meeting immediately. At the gathering, Optimus explained how Megatron was demanding they betray their principals of pacifism to go to war with the aliens, and while he implored to the members of his science division to not leave with the army, he also said they could freely choose to go without fear of reprimand. Naturally, Ratchet stayed on Optimus' side. Defiance issue 2

Hoping to learn some answers about the mysterious relic, Ratchet, Elita-One and Arcee took most of the recovered fragments found at the dig site to the lab for immediate examination. After Optimus Prime, Jazz and Prowl broke into Megatron's quarters to get a close look at the intact relic, Ratchet was surprised to learn that the ancient monolith seemed to be in better than had found it in. An unexpected shock same when analysis of the fragments detected the same symbol in the same area on all the different pieces, and what's more, the symbol was also on Optimus's head. Ratchet claimed that this was proof that the Dynasty of Primes existed, and that Optimus was linked to them. Later, at a dig site near Burthov, Ratchet bestowed the name Optimus Prime on his leader, with the opinion that it had a nice ring to it, though Optimus himself thought it might mean "records clerk" for all they knew. Examining the ruins, Optimus wondered aloud why only the relic Megatron possessed remained intact, leading Ratchet to hypothesis that the others had been smashed deliberately. Further speculation was halted by Prowl's security detachment, who had orders to arrest Optimus on flimsy charges of treason. As they were being led away, what no one in the group realised was Megatron had marked all but Optimus for death. Ratchet assisted in the recovery of Prowl when Brawl fired an explosive shell into the convoy. As the group made a run for Burthov, Optimus Prime personally took care of Starscream's group. Defiance issue 3 After those following Optimus Prime were declared traitors, the planet erupted into civil war. Defiance issue 4
Hearing Bumblebee's call for assistance, Ratchet and the other Autobots under Optimus Prime's direct command came to Earth, with Ratchet crashing into a storefront. As emergency crews and bystanders observed the wreckage, Ratchet assumed the vehicle mode of a nearby Hummer H2 rescue vehicle and drove away.

Ratchet linked up with Ironhide and Jazz, then made their way to a deserted alley to meet up with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and their new human friends. After being introduced as the unit's medical officer, Ratchet remarked that his sensors indicated that Sam's pheromone levels suggested he wanted to mate with Mikaela. (Neither Sam nor Mikaela appreciated this comment.) He also explained how Bumblebee's voicebox was damaged and that he had been having trouble fixing it for some time.

Following Sam to his house, Ratchet and their other Autobots unwittingly caused much destruction to the Witwicky yard and stress to Sam when they attempted to help the boy look for his grandfather's glasses. After Sam told them to hide, Ratchet accidentally walked into some power lines, which shocked him enough to make him fall onto a greenhouse. Ratchet found the experience tingly and suggested to Ironhide that he try it, and Ironhide sarcastically mused that it looked fun, but unfortunately, it had caused a neighborhood-wide blackout, making the search for the glasses much more difficult. Ratchet attempted to help by activating his powerful floodlights, which only succeeded in making the parents investigate Sam's room. When Ironhide remarked that Sam's parents were annoying, Ratchet sarcastically agreed with him with a triple "yeah". Ironhide then requested Prime's permission to "take them out," and Ratchet, suddenly alarmed, tried to stop the massive cannon only with words and a hand. Maybe that power surge did more damage than suspected.

Soon, Sam, Mikaela and his parents were captured by the mysterious Sector Seven. Ratchet and the other Autobots totally outclassed the S7 agents by instantly disarming them of their weapons, then rescuing the boy and his girl. Their dramatic escape was to be short-lived, and Bumblebee was captured while saving his human friends' lives. The next morning, the remaining Autobots gathered to discuss their options. Whether through intuition or some technological means, Ratchet announced that the Decepticons were preparing to make their move. Optimus Prime declared that if they could not defeat the Decepticons, he would fuse the AllSpark with his own spark, hopefully destroying it. Ratchet cautioned him against this action, as the raw power of the artifact would likely kill him. Prime replied that it was his own choice, and to save the humans from destruction and the mistakes of the Transformers, it was a sacrifice that he was willing to make. Inspired by his words, the Autobots headed to Hoover Dam, before encountering Bumblebee leading a column of Sector Seven vehicles headed in the opposite direction.

As the large group arrived in Mission City, it was attacked by Starscream, with the explosion crippling Bumblebee. At the same time, Devastator attacked the surviving human soldiers, prompting Ratchet and Jazz to engage the large Decepticon. As Jazz destroyed one of Devastator's rocket pods, Ratchet used his buzzsaw to slice off the tank's left arm.

Captain Lennox ordered Sam to take the AllSpark to the rooftop of a nearby, run-down building so he could pass the cube to a military helicopter that would soon arrive. Ratchet and Ironhide volunteered themselves to protect Sam as he made his escape. Unfortunately, the villainous Starscream swooped down to block Sam's path, forcing the Autobots to engage him in a rather one-sided battle that left them both damaged. Ratchet and Ironhide collapsed, and Sam had to continue on his own.

After the defeat of Megatron and the destruction of the AllSpark, Ratchet somberly informed Optimus Prime that he could not save the fallen Jazz. Later, as Optimus declared that Earth was their new home and that his team would be waiting for any surviving Autobots to gather there, Ratchet spent the remainder of the day observing Sam and Mikaela making out on the hood of Bumblebee's vehicle mode. Transformers (2007)
After the battle of Mission City, Ratchet was reattaching Bumblebee's legs when an AllSpark mutation attacked Sam. Ratchet crushed the hostile creature with his foot, but was surprised to discover that it contained substances loaded with stimulants and ingredients harmful to humans such as Sam and Mikaela. After repairing Bumblebee and retrieving Jazz's remains, the Autobots rolled out to evade Sector Seven. In the month that followed, Ratchet became fascinated with Earth's varied minerals, such that Captain Lennox joked that the Autobots were late to meet them because Ratchet had stopped to take soil samples again. Alliance issue 1
Ratchet arrived at Sector Seven's secret base in the Nevada desert with the other Autobots to help escort the Decepticon remains to San Diego, California. He stayed with Prime when the Autobot leader sent Bumblebee and Ironhide back to retrieve the AllSpark sliver Prime had left in Sector Seven's care. Alliance issue 2 The convoy returned to the base anyway after the level of destruction caused by the Decepticons was reported. Ratchet could be seen assisting the damaged Bumblebee. By the time the Autobots were on US Navy aircraft carrier weeks later for Jazz's burial-at-sea, Ratchet had repaired Bumblebee's outer panels (giving him a new body kit), but was evidently unable to fully restore Bumblebee's vocal processors. The Autobots subsequently agreed to a formal alliance with the US military, and they began training on the island of Diego Garcia. Soon after, the Decepticons Swindle and Dead End were detected in San Francisco. Alliance issue 3
In San Francisco, Ratchet and Ironhide bantered about how the former's vehicle mode was more suited to N.E.S.T.'s cover story of a chemical spill, while the latter asserted that he was the more stylish of the pair. After Optimus Prime disabled Dead End, Ratchet did not detect any energy readings in the Decepticon. After the Decepticons were dealt with, Optimus and Major Lennox agreed that the Decepticons would most likely pursue Sam Witwicky again, and so he must be protected. As Bumblebee left, a sad Ratchet thanked the younger Autobot and promised that they'll keep working on his vocal processors, being sure that they could get them working again. Soon, more Decepticons were being sighted on Earth, and during a subsequent battle in Florida, Ratchet was pinned to the ground by the much larger Incinerator. Ratchet used his hand saw to cut into the Decepticon's ankle, distracting Incinerator enough for Optimus Prime to run his energy sword through him. An event that brought joy and hope to all was the arrival of new Autobot refugees to Earth, though this was tempered with the news of even more Decepticon sightings, and training of the new recruits were put to the test when Demolishor was spotted in Shanghai. Alliance issue 4
On their way back to Diego Garcia, Ratchet watched Ironhide scare the crap out of a pirate who was trying to attack their ship. Shortly after; Optimus was swept over the falls; when Beachbreak lowered his cable, Ratchet transmitted to Prime to grab it and then helped haul him up.

Shortly afterwards, the team traveled to a nearby dam on the Zambezi, just as the Decepticons began their attack. Payload took up position down the gorge and began to fire on the dam. Ratchet climbed up onto the structure and did his best to patch the holes, even as he took fire from the Decepticon. Eventually, he was saved when William Lennox opened the emergency floodgates, releasing a torrent of water that sent Payload crashing away.
It took him a good deal of time to recover, so he missed out on the missions to Peru and Australia. But he was ready to join the team for the trip to Rome, and helped in the battle against Swindle, Deadend, and Starscream.
Ratchet stayed at NEST's Diego Garcia base during the team's mission in Shanghai. He was deployed when Megatron—who was resurrected with the AllSpark shard stolen from the NEST facility—began hunting for Sam Witwicky. Along with his comrades, Ratchet came too late to aid Optimus Prime, who was protecting Sam from Megatron, Starscream and Grindor. Ratchet ordered Bumblebee to get Sam to safety, while he and the rest of the Autobots provided cover fire, driving Megatron and Starscream off. The Autobots then located Prime's body, but there was nothing Ratchet could do for him: Optimus Prime was dead.

NEST returned to a US airbase with Optimus' body, only to be surrounded by United States military forces who had grown fearful of the Autobots' presence attracting more Decepticons to Earth following Prime's death. Director Theodore Galloway, who was behind NEST's shutdown, believed that humanity was sufficiently advanced enough to battle off the Decepticons, and also announced that they would buy time by negotiating with the Decepticons. Ratchet made no effort to conceal his low opinion of Galloway, believing him a "terribly misinformed" fool. Ratchet himself suggested that if the Autobots were unwelcomed, then they should simply leave Earth, but Ironhide opined that Optimus would not want them to leave. Reluctantly, the Autobots stood down and allowed themselves be kept under nets to restrain them.

Director Galloway ordered the Autobots retreat to Diego Garcia—but when Major William Lennox learned Witwicky had travelled to Egypt to find the Matrix of Leadership, which could be used to resurrect Prime, they were sent there instead. Ratchet fought off many Decepticons during Operation: Firestorm before Sam arrived and revived Prime with the Matrix. However, Prime was still weakened and the Fallen arrived to steal the Matrix so he could activate his solar harvester. A defected Decepticon named Jetfire sacrificed himself so Optimus could use his parts to fly to the solar harvester: Ratchet ordered Jolt to electrify Jetfire's body and begin a full transplant of the weapons systems and afterburners onto Optimus.
:An inexpensive, small-scale version of Ratchet, he remains relatively faithful to his vehicle mode (though highly simplified), but transforms very differently due to his simplicity. In robot mode he has a faux truck-front chest that's more faithful to the CGI design than the Voyager toy's chest, but the rest of his robot mode is (understandably) inaccurate and limited in articulation.

: His spare tire, mounted on the rear end of his roof in vehicle mode, is actually a free-spinning wheel just like the normal four (albeit with a somewhat stiffer joint), and the same size as the front wheels... meaning that, in theory, it could be used as an actual spare tire.

:The original production run of the toy sported a significantly wrong shade of green. :Voyager Movie Ratchet transforms into a AM General Hummer H2, customised as a fire search and rescue vehicle. Ratchet is also missing significant amounts of paint applications, with unpainted wheels, emergency tools, and light details, as well as a underpainted face, resulting in a rather monochromatic toy.

:During transformation, unfolding his legs will activate his Automorphing feature, which folds out his kneepads and feet, and 'bulges' out two small panels along his inner calves. The only Autobot toy to not feature a ranged weapon, Ratchet's right forearm unfolds into an axe (based upon a weapon concept study), and the removable rollbar/roof rack can either be mounted on his left arm as a shield/claw, or stored on his back.

:Oddly, although Ratchet's thumbs are articulated, space is so restricted that they are all but useless. His left thumb can only move a millimeter due to his wrist armour getting in the way. His right thumb does have more space to move, but pushing it will invariably disengage the fold-out axe from his forearm.
**Accessories: Roof rack/claw

:Ratchet was one of the first figures in the Premium Series, released on October 16th, 2007 exclusively at Best Buy for the launch of the Transformers movie DVD. Ratchet's main plastic has been changed to a metallic yellow, with an additional coat of metallic yellow paint over the top of those parts (and others), resulting in a much more accurate colour scheme in relation to the actual Movie character and prop vehicle.

:Ratchet was presented in robot mode, within a special display package similar in shape to the packaging for the Hasbro release of Generation 1 Masterpiece Starscream. Even though Hasbro officially considers him as part of the Premium Series, this is not indicated anywhere on the packaging, as the Premium Series wasn't officially announced until after Ratchet and Megatron had already been released to stores.
*Autobot Ratchet (Cyber Slammer, 2007)

:Cyber Slammers Ratchet is a cute little super-deformed Hummer H2 that transforms into a cute little super-deformed Autobot medical officer. 'Slam' his robot mode down into van mode and he rolls along, slowly transforming back up into vehicle mode. Like most Cyber Slammers, Ratchet manages to cram most of his vehicle mode's major details into a compact, super-deformed version of that mode.

:Titanium Ratchet is a die-cast metal and plastic figurine, with an accurate sculpt based on the CG model owing to the fact he doesn't need to transform. Being a figurine, he only has articulation in his shoulders, neck and waist. For some odd reason most of his face is left unpainted. Ratchet comes with a Movie-style Autobot symbol display stand.

:Deluxe class Ratchet is an all-new mold that is more accurate to Ratchet's final robot mode design when compared to his Voyager class toys. However, his vehicle mode has been changed to something akin to a military Humvee, albeit in Ratchet's distinctive emergency rescue regalia. He also features a new weapon that resembles the arm-mounted machine gun that Ratchet uses in the films (replacing the inaccurate axe of the older toy); it fires a translucent blue missile, and can be attached to Deluxe Lockdown, echoing the interactive features of their Animated counterparts' toys.
:Ratchet is a barely redecoed version of the Voyager class Ratchet toy released in 2007, the only new decos being the change of his black plastic to dark grey and a "dirt" wash on his doors and shoulders. In a probable effort to cut costs, Hasbro has removed several decos that existed on the 2007 toy, such as half of the Emergency stripe on the sides of the vehicle, the red paint for the light bar and the turn signal lights.

Trivia
*Ratchet was originally going to be a red/white "offroad emergency truck" fire department vehicle, not a medical ambulance. Reputedlyfact, it was due to the fandom uproar over this change that Ratchet became an ambulance later in the development of the live-action movie (or as much of an ambulance that a Hummer with stuff slapped on the back of it can be). However, in the transition from "fire rescue vehicle" to "ambulance", Ratchet's main color became high visibility yellow... which sent the fandom into an uproar once more. Schadenfreude!

* Ratchet's early design would later go on to inspire the Toys"R"Us exclusive Inferno.

*According to Meet the Autobots, Ratchet has X-ray vision, which lets him see for miles.

*In the hardcover Transformers: The Movie Guide, it is noted that Ratchet can cannibalize his own parts for emergency treatment of a patient; he carries within him redundant systems for such situations. (This only turns up once in a story though, in one of Titan's issues) He can also tow up to 300 lbs over his own weight in vehicle form, and his specialization isn't listed as being a medic, but in actually getting to the wounded.

*In the hardcover Movie Guide it is noted that Ratchet is one of the few Autobots that could conceivably give Megatron a decent fight one-on-one before being dismembered and fed upon.

*In the Transformers guide to the movie, the book proclaims that "Ratchet carefully chose his landing site to avoid loss of human life." Yet he is seen crashing in the middle of the street, causing fires and several minor explosions. Maybe Ratchet thought he was avoiding loss of human life.

*Ratchet's toy packaging proclaims he has an "Automorph Forearm Cannon". However, the toy obviously lacks this weapon. At the Hasbro Tour during 2007, an early design prototype of Ratchet was displayed during a slide show, with similar callouts. Presumably, the forearm cannon was attempted, but dropped due to either engineering issues or cost.

*Ratchet is the only Autobot introduced in the first Transformers film never to have been given a close-up transformation sequence in the first film or its sequel, Revenge of the Fallen.

*Ratchet's toys are part of a matrix of cross-referencing redecos, along with Animated Ratchet and Generation 1 Ratchet:
**In 2008, the original Generation 1 Ratchet mold got an e-Hobby exclusive green redeco in Japan as "Ratchet Emergency Green" in obvious reference to his movie counterpart.
**The red and white "Rescue Ratchet" redecos of movie Ratchet's toys are based on Generation 1 Ratchet's original toy.
**Animated Ratchet, his original design already referencing both predecessors with Generation 1 Ratchet's chevron and coloring and movie Ratchet's squiggly EEG symbol, had a further homage to the latter with a yellow redeco as (another) "Rescue Ratchet".

*Included with the downloadable content for the Revenge of the Fallen game on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 is a red and white color skin for Ratchet. Clearly, he needs to pick a color palette and commit!

*In the film, a part of Ratchet's transformation involves his entire upper body rotating around. The main Voyager class toy does not do this, but Ironhide's does.

*Contrary to what is implied or outright stated by everything from the Rescue Ratchet deco to the words of the moviemakers themselves, Ratchet is not, in fact, an ambulance.

Dirge is a master of using fear as a weapon. Mournful, morose, and silent, his behavior gives even close comrades like Ramjet the creeps. Dirge actively cultivates this atmosphere; his engines are even tuned to generate fear in all who hear them. Few realize, however, that this need to instill fear is part of an overwhelming need for control over his own situation. Should things spiral out of control, Dirge falls victim to paralyzing fear himself and his usefulness as a warrior vanishes.
Generation 1 cartoon
:Voice actor: Bud Davis (English), Keiichi Nanba (Japanese)

Dirge appeared without explanation on Earth under Megatron's command a year or two after the Ark-borne Transformers awoke. His first notable activity was joining in a raid on Dinobot Island, where he was eventually chewed on and thrown bodily by a time-lost Tyrannosaurus rex. Dinobot Island, Part 2

Dirge served as part of Megatron's personal guard when the Decepticons confronted the Constructicons about their dubious loyalties. The Master Builders He was also briefly involved in an aborted air strike to seize the Negavator, and was present for the next raid on the Negavator's holding pen. Once Red Alert rigged the Negavator to explode, however, Dirge led his fellow Seekers in retreat, against Megatron's direct orders. Guess he didn't feel like dying that day. Auto Berserk

When a new solar energy facility opened up in Central City, Starscream led Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust to steal its power. The facility proved to be a trap, however, set by Shawn Berger to elevate himself in the public eye by taking down the Decepticons with his private militia. Berger's operatives failed, but the Autobots soon arrived to engage the Decepticons as well. Tracks took to the air and zapped Dirge with his blackout beam. Luckily for Dirge, Ramjet managed to pull off a loopity-loop and ram the flying Autobot into the ground. Megatron then "requested" the pleasure of Shawn Berger's presence, not to punish him, but to play a subtler game. He attempted to convince the industrialist that the Decepticons were good, and the Autobots evil. He had Dirge escort Berger home so that the human could think about his proposal of alliance against the "Evil Autobots". Dirge was also one of the key players in Megatron's staged videos to tarnish the Autobots' reputation. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1 Later, after the Autobots were successfully villified in the public eye and exiled to deep space, the Seekers turned on the people of Central City, opening fire in the middle of the streets. Although Dirge and the Seekers fared well against an attack by the Air Force, the eventual return of the Autobots proved to be more than the Decepticons could handle. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

When the Decepticons uncovered a pool of electrum, a strange element that rendered them totally invincible to harm, they thoroughly enjoyed taunting the Autobots with their superiority. Dirge, unfortunately, drew the short straw and was left to guard the pool with Long Haul, right up until the Constructicon abandoned him to go fight the battle as well. Dirge was in the middle of...*ahem* exhorted Long Haul's virtues when Beachcomber and Seaspray jumped him from behind, giving the Autobots a chance to use the electrum pool as well. The supply was quickly exhausted with both armies using it, however, reducing the war back to stage one. The Golden Lagoon Dirge was also part of Megatron's team working with the Insecticons, producing energon cubes from the insects' feasting. They were eventually defeated by the Autobots and a grove of robotic space plants called Morphobots. Quest for Survival

Later on, Dirge, Ramjet and Astrotrain came to Monacus to look after Megatron's interests in Sheol, and his less than reputable partner, Lord Gyconi. They were putting the squeeze on Gyconi when a program caught Dirge's optic, inviting one-and-all to see the Autobots in pit battle against Gyconi's animaliens. They decided to take in a show while on Monacus, but quickly realized what was going on when Smokescreen flooded the arena with smoke to stop the games and save his friends. Dirge and Ramjet set off after the Autobot in jet mode, and very nearly destroyed him before the bounty hunting Autobot named Devcon stepped in to blast them out of the air. There's nothing a Decepticon fears more than a fair fight, and the two Seekers skidadled as soon as they were able to get back in the sky. They retreated back to Astrotrain with their share of Gyconi's energon, and eventually fled the planet, with Devcon chasing their smoke trail. The Gambler

On another occasion, Dirge accompanied Megatron to help their ally Deceptitran against the Tlalakan rebels. After the Decepticons captured Bumblebee (who was aiding the rebels), Dirge was eager to try out his mind probe on the little Autobot, but was interrupted by a rebel attack before he could really get into it. Sea Change

When the Triple Changers temporarily disposed of Megatron and Starscream, Decepticon leadership became a free-for-all. Instead of chosing sides like the Constructicons, Ramjet and the Seekers were mostly content just to watch the hilarity ensue, like Blitzwing's football antics and Astrotrain's army of idiot trains. He even actually avoided death for a change and was seen successfully escaping from a train tunnel flooded by Astrotrain's Astroforce. That must have made his day.Triple Takeover

Megatron said Dirge and the other two Coneheads were "supposed to be the most powerful jets in the galaxy." The Girl Who Loved Powerglide But if Megatron was serious, then they certainly didn't do much to live up to that reputation. They were loyal enough troopers, participating in all the usual Decepticon mischief, but not much more than that. Dirge was once ordered to transport an unknown invention stolen from Wheeljack's lab on Cybertron to their home base, and ended up crashing in a swamp and temporarily deactivating due to its weight, prompting the other coneheads to save him. Hoist Goes Hollywood In fact, the general incompetence of Dirge and the Seekers in the air was one of the reasons Megatron chose to try fighting the Autobots on the roads with the Stunticons. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1

Dirge and Ramjet were briefly seen using Megatron's Lightning Bug in defense of the Decepticons' undersea base. Cosmic Rust (episode) The two were later captured by Starscream and the renegade Combaticons, and pilfered for their energy absorbers. Starscream's Brigade Still, Dirge was repaired rather quickly, and was seen helping Megatron and the Insecticons in another joint scheme soon thereafter. He and Ramjet were commissioned to find the Insecticons when Shrapnel stole a vital part of the Space Bridge machinery. The Revenge of Bruticus During a Decepticon mission in the Middle East, Dirge inexplicably showed up with the Combaticons just long enough to get shot down by the Autobots. Aerial Assault

Dirge's first apparent death was during Unicron's attack on Cybertron in 2005. All three coneheads (or Seekers who looked like them) were seen flying into Unicron's mouth and exploding. The Transformers: The Movie However, Dirge soon turned up again in Carbombya, hiding with Ramjet amongst President Fakkadi's air force. Fakkadi denied their presence to the Autobots, but Outback psyched the two Decepticons out by walking around the airfield with what he claimed was a "Decepticon detector." When the coneheads tried to escape, Outback used a smoke grenade to make them crash, then tore the location of Chaar out of them with his steely gaze. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

The two hapless Decepticons somehow escaped Autobot captivity, though. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3 They later participated in a full-scale assault on Cybertron and chose to strafe Ultra Magnus—who dispatched them both with well-timed punches that sent them careening into buildings. They exploded quite utterly (even Ramjet, who you'd think would be used to it). Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

Dark Awakening Thief in the Night

And yet they later appeared again on Chaar, failing to defend Trypticon against the ghost of Starscream. In fact, Galvatron tried to execute the coneheads and the Battlechargers for their inability to stop the wraith. But they were saved when Starscream possessed Trypticon himself and launched into space, Dirge and the others onboard. When they saw that Starscream was using Trypticon to connect Unicron's head to Cybertron, they sabotaged the dinosaur from within. Ghost in the Machine
Dirge and Thrust stood guard outside the Decepticon headquarters on Earth when Twincast was ordered to infiltrate it. noteukonly
Dirge was on Cybertron serving under Straxus when contact was first made with the long-lost Earthbound Decepticons. The Smelting Pool! He was one of the Decepticons' greatest killers, with Macabre desperately wanting acknowledgement from him. After Shrapnel received some information about a major meeting of the Autobot resistance chiefs, Dirge led his fellow elite killers to the meeting, hoping to capture the infamous Emirate Xaaron and siphon some information from his old cranial cavity. Mere yards from their goal, however, the Decepticons were halted by a communique from Megatron, demanding they return to Polyhex at once and ready the Insecticons for an Earth-bound mission. Pissed about missing their chance, but not foolish enough to disobey Megatron, Dirge turned the troops around, little realizing how close they came to being ambushed by the Wreckers. Target: 2006

Dirge, his fellow "coneheads", and the Insecticons dutifully travelled to Earth via the space bridge. Megatron had instructed that Seekers be altered to resemble "Terran craft". Their mission was to defend a giant drill that would bore through Hoover Dam and siphon the Colorado River through the space bridge to the waterless Cybertron, where Decepticon turbines would generate "enough energy to power Cybertron for years." But just as the drill began its work, the Aerialbots intervened. Dirge found his fear-inducing ability was particularly effective against the acrophobic Silverbolt, but the other Decepticons fared poorly enough that a retreat was eventually called. Aerialbots over America!

When the Decepticons later allied with Cobra, Dirge was assigned to be an emissary among the humans. This would be unfortunate for the luckless Seeker. When Serpentor realized the Decepticons were going to destroy the Earth, he needed a token of conciliation to show the Autobots. So in the middle of a battle against Omega Supreme, Serpentor goaded Dirge into attacking the giant with everything he had. Serpentor then pressed a button in the cockpit of his own jet, "jamming" Dirge's "frequencies," which caused the Seeker's weapons to lock up and explode when he tried to fire.

The explosion tore Dirge apart, and he wouldn't be seen again for years. Ashes, Ashes...
Earthforce
earthforcefiction
With Soundwave in command, Dirge joined a massive Decepticon offensive against the Autobot Earthbase. Their goal was to kill some Autobots while also distracting them as Starscream looted a human oil tanker in the Gulf of Mexico. Both goals proved fruitless, and the Decepticons were driven off. Divide and Conquer!
While the war seemingly ended with Bludgeon's defeat at Klo, Megatron was quietly gathering the remains of forgotten Earthbound casualties and rebuilding them. Dirge was among his resurrections, but the Seeker chose to follow the exiled Bludgeon instead. This would prove an unfortunate choice, as Dirge soon ended up in the Cerebro-shelled thrall of Bug Bite.

When Bug Bite decided to try and subvert Megatron himself, Dirge was on the team accompanying him to Earth. As Bug Bite and Megatron confronted each other, the Autobots ambushed them, freeing many of Bug Bite's troops with a cerebro-shell jammer. It's unclear whether Dirge's shell was disabled, but the point is somewhat moot; Grimlock shot him in the chest, leaving him lying on the floor with extinguished optics. Games of Deception
In the end, Prime's sacrifice spurred the Autobots to fight on to victory!

Dirge was the most overpowering Decepticon present, but he could be defeated by a surprise attack. Alternately, if both Ramjet and Thrust were defeated, Dirge would retreat. Desert Flight
Dirge participated in Shockwave's offensive against Iacon shortly after Optronix took the Matrix. During the Dark Ages, he joined up with Starscream's Predacon faction and attempted to disrupt the peace treaty at Tyger Pax... only to have the combined forces of the Autobots, Decepticons, and Ultracons brought against him. Guess death comes to he who has no common sense.

After the Great Shutdown was over, Dirge became one of Shockwave's top agents and traveled to Earth to help collect the former crews of the Ark and Nemesis. Back on Cybertron, he helped defend Shockwave's empire when the Autobots finally rose up against him, but he was defeated along with the rest of the Decepticons. Somehow he escaped detention and joined up with Shockwave and his remaining flunkies in the wastelands, hidden in an underground bunker while planning their next move. When Megatron arrived with his new Predacons, though, Dirge quickly assessed his priorities and agreed to serve under the old Decepticon commander for the duration. The Route of All Evil
: Heroes of Cybertron Dirge is redeco of Super Collection Figure Dirge, cast in translucent red plastic and painted to allow for a light-piping gimmick. His cone was also rounded off for safety reasons. Dirge much easier to find than his Japanese counterpart, as he was a normal release in wave four, and packed on a blister card rather than in a blindpacked box.
Notes
* Simon Furman originally planned for Dirge and the other "coneheads" to appear and defend the Nemesis in the conclusion to Beast Wars, but this plot point was dropped due to time and budget constraints. Furman was so disappointed at his missed chance to use Dirge (whom he appreciated because he has a "...a cool doom-laden name") that he chose the character to be one of Unicron's heralds in the Armada comic's "Worlds Collide" arc.
* Colorist Drew Eiden stated at the Collector's Club panel at 2007 that the day after final colors were applied to the Timelines comic where Dirge apparently falls dead, he found this article and noted to editor Pete Sinclair how ironic it was. Whether the comic was actually intended to continue Dirge's death-trend is unknown.
Agent Seymour Simmons is the chief agent of Sector Seven's Field Agents. His family has been in Sector Seven since day one, when his great-grandfather helped dig the Ice Man out of the Arctic. He might come off as a jerk sometimes, but he's a patriot who takes this work very personally. After all, it's in his blood.

He's just a smidge off his nut—eccentric, weird, crazy, whatever you want to call it. He's strange, and he wears Hawaiian underwear, Sector Seven undershirts, and clip-on ties.

He is the son of Felix and Tova Simmons.
Seymour Simmons is a fictional character in a fictional Transformers movie produced by the real Sector Seven, masterminded by Reggie Simmons. Sector Seven (game)

In 2003, Simmons led a team of Sector Seven agents in an attempt to capture Bumblebee, then known as NBE-2. Movie Prequel issue 3 The attempt involved luring him into a trap using an artificial isotope derived from the sub-atomic matter of the cube, which put out an almost identical energy signature to that of the cube. After the team spent two days waiting in the New Mexico desert, Bumblebee appeared, followed by the Decepticons Barricade, Blackout, and Starscream. Thanks to the Decepticons, who destroyed several Apache helicopters and tried to hack into Sector Seven's network, Simmons's plan to capture Bumblebee failed horribly. Movie Prequel issue 4
Transformers (2007 film)
:Actor: John Turturro (English) Yūichi Nagashima (Japanese-language dub voice), Stefan Fredrich (German)

Agent Simmons went to the Witwicky residence when Sector Seven suspected that Sam Witwicky had made contact with an N.B.E. they were tracking. Taking Sam and Mikaela Banes into custody, he got too into the bad cop role, threatening Sam with life imprisonment, threatening Mikaela's father's parole, and revealing Mikaela's own criminal record. This strategy nearly succeeded...until a seriously pissed off Optimus Prime decided to pay Sam and Mikaela's bail—by jumping right in front of their SUV, lifting it off the ground, and tearing the roof off. Although Simmons tried to call for calm, the Autobots easily disarmed the agents. To Simmons's credit, he himself remained calm, while the guy to his left looked like he was going to wet himself.

Prime attempted to interrogate Simmons, who revealed that the only communication he was authorized to have with the N.B.E.s was to tell them he wasn't authorized to communicate with them. He also refused to answer any questions from Sam and Mikaela about Sector Seven or how they knew of the Autobots. Annoyed by his attitude, Bumblebee released lubricant on him, and then Mikaela had Simmons strip as punishment for threatening her father. Simmons had little to worry about when he was handcuffed to a pole, as a fellow agent had already alerted their confederates. Most of the Autobots managed to elude Sector Seven, but Bumblebee was captured when he saved Sam and Mikaela from a fall.

After arriving at Hoover Dam (and presumably taking the longest shower of his life), Agent Simmons, in a new, clean, and higher-in-authority uniform, and trying the awkward role of good cop, told Sam and Mikaela that they may have gotten off on the wrong foot. Taking them to see the Mega Man, Simmons was told of Megatron's plans by Sam. Taking the guests to see the Cube, Simmons and Banachek then took their guests to see a demonstration of the Cube's power. Sergeant Epps noticed some claw marks on the walls of the containment room, asking if Freddy Krueger had been here. Glen Whitmann responded that the three claw marks indicated that it was Wolverine, chuckling. Simmons replied that that his comment was very funny, without any humor at all. Glen then donated his Nokia cellphone, and Simmons commented on how the Japanese's knowledge of the Samurai earned respect (Nokia is actually based in Finland). Funneling the Cube radiation into the containment box, the cellphone came to life, but nearly broke the box, forcing Simmons to unleash a massive electrical surge to kill the damn thing. He seemed to enjoy the whole experience.

However, Frenzy had infiltrated the dam and sent a message to the Decepticons, causing Starscream to attack. Sam urged Simmons to release Bumblebee, saying he would help, but Simmons stubbornly refused. Captain Lennox decided to apply some armed persuasion, which Simmons still refused to heed, leading to a standoff between the rangers and Sector Seven agents. Finally, the rangers won when Secretary Keller advised Simmons to comply. After Bumblebee reformatted the Cube, Simmons, Secretary Keller, Maggie Madsen, and Glen Whitmann went to the dam's archives, where they tried to send an S.O.S via an old radio. Unfortunately, while the radio itself was working, someone had stolen the microphones. Glen managed to hotwire a computer to send a signal via Morse code, while Simmons and Keller provided cover fire when Frenzy began attacking. Fortunately, the psychotic robot sliced off his own head. Transformers (2007)
IDW Transformers movie comics
Simmons, Banachek and John Keller were on their way to Mission City when Starscream attacked Hoover Dam. The Reign of Starscream Issue Number Two

Arriving shortly after the battle in Mission City, Simmons asked William Lennox and Robert Epps to join Sector Seven; they agreed after Sam inadvertently called Epps while in conversation with Simmons, which sort of ruined Lennox's excuse. The next day, Simmons informed Professor Vine that he had one month to study the defeated Decepticons before they were dumped in the Laurentian Abyss. He also suggested they wake up "sleeping beauty" to see if he had anything to offer. When the scientist worried that Wreckage couldn't be re-activated, especially not since Salazar was lost, Simmons called Lennox, saying the soldier had friends that could "make him" wake up. Alliance issue 1

Before the Autobots arrived at the Nevada desert facility to escort the convoy carrying the Decepticon bodies away, Simmons agreed with Vine about having to dump the Decepticons into the sea, grousing that the aliens turned a city into a battleground and now they had to throw a treasure trove of information away. While they reminisced about how Salazar was able to learn from Wreckage and create the L.M.-1 units, Simmons was dismissive and callous about the sentience of the Cybertronians, refusing to refer to Wreckage by his name, preferring to call him N.B.E.-3. At Optimus Prime's behest, Vine took the surviving All Spark shard for safekeeping, fearing it might reactivate the dead Megatron.
Simmons and Salani persuaded Vine to take the fragment underground to hide it from any Decepticons that might still be skulking about, but as soon as they entered the main holding chamber, the fragment flew out of Simmons's hands and revived Wreckage. Wreckage rampaged through the base, destroying the L.M.-1s and fighting Starscream in a struggle leading to numerous deaths. Alliance issue 2 While secretly taking Frenzy's head, which had fallen out of Starscream's cockpit, Simmons was left to wonder about the Transformers' sense of morality before being relieved of his duties by John Keller. Alliance issue 3

After Sector Seven was shut down, Simmons was not invited to join NEST, despite his best efforts. Simmons was convinced that it was because he had been mean to that Witwicky kid and his car stealing girlfriend, even though the official reason was concern that he might be a little unstable (probably the actual reason). Convinced that the Autobots were equally attempting to invade Earth, Simmons managed to save (stealing is so pejorative) documents from Sector Seven, as well as Frenzy's head, in the hopes of learning everything he could to stop both factions and save the planet. Although his pension took care of his needs, he decided to work in his mother's deli, where every day he would take orders from people with stupid tastes in Italian meat. One night while working, Frenzy began to spazz out of control and nearly fried the building's electrical system, forcing Simmons to shut him down. After a mild complaint by his landlord, Simmons decided to relocate Frenzy and the documents to the basement of his mother's deli, the safest alternative he could think of.The Veiled Threat

Revenge of the Fallen movie
:Actor: John Turturro (English), Yūichi Nagashima (Japanese-language dub voice)

Simmons set up a website, GiantEffingRobots.com, under the alias Robo-Warrior, where he developed a rivalry with The Real Effing Deal. One day, after his hometown of New York City had been attacked by Decepticon protoforms and The Fallen had broadcast a threat across the world, The Real Effing Deals webmaster, Leo Spitz, walked into his deli. Leo tried to be civil about their rivalry, as he recognized he needed Robo-warrior's aid, but Simmons initially feigned ignorance of his site and then began criticizing Leo's work. Then, when Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes walked through his door, visibly shocked at whom they were dealing with, Simmons ordered the store closed, then vented further, admonishing Sam over how N.B.E. 01 was still alive and blaming them for the loss of his job.

Once Simmons heard how Sam needed his help, he was prepared to let Sam rot, until Sam mentioned that a crab bot had projected alien symbols from his brain. Realizing what that meant, he opened a hidden stairway in the cold storage room that led to a room filled with classified files (as well as Frenzy's head), which he'd taken for himself before Sector Seven closed its doors. Simmons revealed the Cyberglyphics Sam was hallucinating about could be found all over the globe, a clear sign the Transformers had visited the planet long before the All Spark and Megatron. Simmons explained he had been keen to investigate evidence of other Transformers lying inert on Earth, but Sector Seven had denied him permission, deeming it an obsession. Mikaela brought Wheelie into the room, and he identified several of the machines in Simmons's photographs as Seekers, who had come to Earth ages ago searching for something.

Journeying to the nearest known Seeker at the Smithsonian, Simmons hatched a plan to get past security after hours that essentially involved him tasering the guards: Simmons was successful in taking down the guard to whom he'd assigned himself, but Leo wound up tasering himself too. Simmons had to drag him to where Sam, Mikaela and Wheelie had detected energon radiation, and they found their Seeker was an SR-71 Blackbird. Sam's All Spark fragment reactivated the jet, who was actually the former Decepticon Jetfire. The grouchy Seeker used a space bridge to transport them to Egypt, where he told them the story of the The Fallen, the solar harvester, and the Matrix of Leadership needed to power it, which was hidden in the Tomb of the Primes. Jetfire explained the clue they had: "When dawn alights the Dagger's tip, Three Kings will reveal the Doorway". The four humans plus Wheelie, Bumblebee, Skids and Mudflap went searching for the Matrix to resurrect Optimus Prime, the only one who could defeat The Fallen.

Simmons used his intelligence skills to evade detection, as The Fallen's demand for Sam's capture made Sam a wanted man. His history contact in the CIA informed that the Israelites used to call the Gulf of Aqaba "the Dagger", indicating that it was their next destination. He contacted NEST, telling them to bring Optimus's body to Egypt. Then he got Sam across the Jordanian border, mainly because the border guard liked New York and was amiable enough to let his "family" pass. Sam worked out the only clue to the tomb and uncovered the Matrix in Petra. As Leo complained of the lack of answers, Simmons angrily informed him that real life was heart break. This in turn caused an argument between the Twins, which turned physical, damaging the ancient ruins they were in. However, the fight revealed the Tomb of the Primes behind the wall they cracked, with the Matrix... which crumbled to dust, after Sam tried to gain possession of it. Simmons looked on the bright side: without the Matrix, the Decepticons couldn't activate the machine. As Bumblebee drove them back to Egypt, they were attacked by Starscream. Sam ran off to revive Optimus, who was being protected by NEST in ruins near the pyramids, while Simmons played decoy and drove in Skids to a quarry. Simmons relished his supporting role, proclaiming he was "One man, alone, betrayed by the country he loves," despite the fact that Leo was right next to him, and he was driving Skids.

Simmons and Leo were driven by Skids and Mudflap into a quarry near the pyramids, where they witnessed the Constructicons combine into Devastator. Simmons avoided being sucked into the giant's mouth by running for his legs. As Devastator clambered up the Great Pyramid of Giza, realization struck Simmons: the pyramid was built around the machine Jetfire had told them about. He retrieved a radio from a Jordanian helicopter that Megatron had downed, which he used to contact the United States Navy. Simmons followed Devastator up the pyramid-despite Leo's protests-with the radio in hand, wheedling his way around Captain Wilder's tedious demand as to how he knew of their top secret rail gun that were based on studies of the US military. As he climbed the pyramid, Simmons probably became the only human to acknowledge Devastator had two wrecking balls resembling the male scrotum. After the Navy successfully fired on the behemoth, Simmons gained military backup for NEST, whose phone signals had been jammed by Soundwave. After Optimus was raised from the dead and The Fallen's defeat, Simmons was congratulated by Lennox for his aid in bringing down the Decepticons. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
Notes
*According to the director's commentary on the Transformers DVD, Turturro based his performance as Simmons on Michael Bay. If true, then Mr. Bay is indeed crazier than people think.

*In Transformers, Seymour can be seen wearing a cross necklace when Mikaela orders him to undress, implying that he is a Christian. Yet the Revenge of the Fallen novelization suggests that he's a Jew (but with at least one Arab ancestor). The movie itself isn't explicit here; it should be noted, however, that pigs can be seen in the meat locker of his mother's deli. Adding further to the confusion, the prequel novel The Veiled Threat states his mom's first name as Tova, a traditional Jewish name. Did Jews for Jesus reach out to him?
*Evidently Simmons owns toys produced during the Sector Seven misinformation campaign known as Operation: Hungry Dragon. For some reason, the Micromaster Tailwind was included among Simmon's Revenge of the Fallen props during an auction on October 8 & 9, 2009 held by Profiles in History.
* While filming, Tuturro apparently started to weep while filming at the Great Pyramids. He was apparently overwhelmed with the beautiful structures, and how his career had brought him there.
Why would anyone EVER deliberately bring Starscream back to life?

Synopsis
On Cybertron, Ratchet has responded well to the medical challenge and advanced technology being used to re-corporate Starscream. Almost too well — he has to rein himself in and remember he is being forced to work on this project. As Megatron leaves him to continue his work, Ratchet takes special note of the three deactivated Autobots he brought with him from the Ark, and the three prototype Pretender shells Megatron has on display. He resolves to... stay busy. Megatron offers Dreadwind and Darkwing permanent jobs and they like the idea, especially as they are not entirely sure they managed to lose the Mecannibals. Outside two of the creatures consume a dead Transformer...

Back on Earth, Optimus Prime has had enough of being jerked around, and makes a command decision — the other Autobots are to make their way to the shuttle and return to the Ark as quickly as possible to deal with whatever threat Ratchet might be facing up there. He nominates himself to stay and cover their retreat from any reprisal by Scorponok and the Decepticons. As the Autobots reluctantly follow Prime's orders, the Decepticons swarm over Optimus, pressing him to the ground. Seeing this, Hot Rod chooses to leap free of the rising shuttle at the last minute, and rushes back to his leader's aid.

No need, though. Optimus Prime once again demonstrates why he's the most hardcore pacifist around. With one shrug of his mechanical muscles, he sends the three Decepticons attacking him flying. He then approaches Lord Zarak to calmly discuss the situation, and continues to do so even after taking a point blank zap from Scorponok's tail to the chest. Prime does his best to make Zarak see reason, that they both have been manipulated by the Air Strike Patrol and whomever is truly giving them orders.

Speaking of "whomever", Megatron is checking on Ratchet's progress and finds Starscream completely repaired and completely mindless... just as Megatron likes him. Per Megatron's instructions, Ratchet has rendered Starscream's mind a total blank slate, with none of that pesky screeching and overthrowing to get in the way of his uses as a warrior. But, as Ratchet tells Megatron that it's time for him to uphold his end of the bargain and disable the explosives on the Ark, the Decepticon laughs at him and prepares to send the detonation order anyway.

Needless to say, Ratchet is hardly surprised, but it is also too soon for the counter-plans he has set in motion to bear fruit. Desperate for time, he triggers an explosion in the laboratory to escape his Micromaster guards. As he runs through the corridors, though, he finds that Megatron has already sent Starscream to Earth by way of the dimensional portal, thanks to a pre-programmed set of personality commands. He then runs into Megatron himself. Uh-oh.

On the Ark, Blackjack is almost done setting the explosives, when he realizes the other Autobots are on their way back in the shuttle. Looking for a weapon to blast them with, Blackjack runs into Kup, who has reactivated and is pointing a gun in his face. Startled, the Micromaster drops the triggering mechanism, starting the countdown on the copious amounts of explosives.

Just as Optimus and Zarak reach an accord on Earth, Starscream arrives through the dimension portal, pre-programmed to hail the glories of Megatron for all who will listen. Oh, and destroy all who are listening, too. Mustn't forget that.

Back on Cybertron, Megatron is interrupted in his execution of Ratchet by some bad news: his other Pretender prototypes have mysteriously begun glowing. Putting two and two together, the Decepticon tyrant realizes what has become of the deactivated Autobots just as Jazz, Bumblebee and Grimlock spring to life as... the Classic Pretenders!
Errors
* When he first separates from Scorponok, Zarak's face is mistakenly colored flesh-toned, and his chest is purple instead of yellow.
* The somewhat abstract U.S. cover promises the reader "Optimus... OUT OF CONTROL!", but nothing of the sort really happens.

Items of note
* This being 1989, Hot Rod has yet to learn about interfering with "Prime's fights".
* Transformers Universe profiles for the Technobots are found after the main story.
* From issue #248 of the UK comic the Action Force back-up strip was now titled G.I. Joe the Action Force, although the cover logo would not change until issue #249.
* The fate of the Mecannibals would be revealed in the UK story "Out to Lunch!" However, due to the UK comic suspending its printing of the US material and running reprints of old UK stories for eleven issues, "Out to Lunch" appeared six issues before the Mecannibal scene here.

References
* Part of the reason Zarak decides to trust Optimus is that he recalls Prime's selflessness when it came to the Underbase in US issue #50.
