The plot change astounds!

Synopsis
After recalibrating his spark energy in the Decepticons to turn them into loyal servants, Galvatron puts Sky-Byte in command of the next mission—and in command of the now-loyal Decepticons.

So Sky-Byte goes out to follow Koji wherever he goes, in hopes that the boy will eventually lead him to the Autobot base. Of course, he does, and Sky-Byte tells Galvatron that the base is somewhere inside a parking structure. And that parking's only free for the first 20 minutes, and he needs some quarters.

Down in the Autobot base, Side Burn is all up in Cerebros's face, telling him that he's an Autobot and needs to help protect Earth. Suddenly, Cerebros activates and explains how he and Fortress Maximus function. X-Brawn promptly points out the flaws in the system, right before the Decepticons attack the parking structure.

The Autobots take evasive actions and use their "Oh crap, the bad dudes found our pad" plan, which involves all the Autobots going to one area and hiding, while Optimus leads the Decepticons and Predacons to that area with Cerebros via a different route. Sky-Byte thinks he's cornered Optimus, but upon further observation, he discovers that Optimus has actually led him and the Decepticons into a trap. Every single Autobot is there, and Sky-Byte's like, "Crap."

There's a lake nearby, where nobody seems to notice the huge alien watercraft that is Galvatron just floating there amidst the swan paddle boats. That's also where our dear friend Kelly is. She sees a couple of Autobots and tries to ignore them by paddling away.

After Sky-Byte figures out he's trapped, Mega—er, Galvatron pops out from hiding and announces his master plan to control Fortress Maximus. Then he brings out his huge command center thing and fires a barrage of bombs onto the Autobots. The Predacons promptly hide behind some rocks, and the two-and-a-half-episode-long battle begins.

Ultra Magnus shows up, and he and Optimus form Omega Prime. Landfill forms and tries to make the first blow, but gets blown apart. Despite this, Omega Prime still calls Wedge "Landfill", but nobody seems to notice or care. Rail Racer tries to shoot the command center in the butt, but gets blown back by ass-rockets. Then Wedge tries to attack the center all by himself, running and ranting about how he has the spark of an Autobot, but gets blown back by more ass-rockets. But his courage is not wasted, as it activates Fortress Maximus.

Galvatron transforms into hand mode, and we soon discover that it isn't only useful for catching doctors, it's also good for linking with huge purple command centers and fighting gigantic fortresses. Anyway, Fortress Maximus and Galva-command center duke it out, but in the end, Maximus knocks Galvatron to the ground. And there is much rejoicing. But not for long, because when there's twitching involved, you know something's up.
Notes
* Galvatron states his original reason for coming to Earth was that the Predacon Council had ordered him to search for Fortress Maximus. This would mean that, despite announcing himself as "Megatron, the ruler of many worlds" in the first episode, he's a general working for other rulers instead of a Supreme Commander of Predacon forces. (The Council are a reference to the Tripredacus Council and were a dub creation)

* Sky-Byte's reputation among humans has devolved to the point where small girls happily go up to "Mister Sky-Byte" and chat with him. This irks him.
Fiction
Transformers Animated
Dr. Sumdac used technology from the crashed remains of Megatron as the basis for his robotics empire. By the early 21st century, Detroit had become the world's automaton manufacturing capital, a clean and high-tech city. Robots performed many everyday jobs, including:

* Garbage disposal
* Babysitting
* Dog walking
* Janitorial services
* Food preparation and sales
* Building upkeep
* Police interceptor drones
* Media camera drones
* Heavy industry, including robot manufacture
* Education
* Espionage
* Biomedical research

That last group, Sumdac's "microbots", was designed to enter infected organic systems and destroy the causes of disease, potentially one day allowing humans to achieve immortality. However, the Sumdac Systems technicians lost control of the microbot replication process, and the robots mutated their insect host into a giant all-consuming monster that the Autobots had to defeat Transform and Roll Out!
:Windrazor is a Maximal / Predacon from an alternate future of the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family

Windrazor was the imperfect result of a radical experiment conducted under the most desperate conditions. In the 32nd Century, Cybertron is ruled by the Predacon Warlord Shokaract and only a tiny resistance of Maximals and Predacons remains to fight him. In order to gain vital intelligence, a Maximal known as The Veteran merged his spark with a dying Predacon- the Cub, resulting in a dual-sparked hybrid, Windrazor himself. He possesses both youthful recklessness and battle-tested wisdom, and should potentially benefit from both; but the merging was imperfect, and Windrazor's two component personalities can clash for control of his actions.
Fiction
3H Tales of the Beast Wars comics
Windrazor traveled back in time to the closing days of the Beast Wars to try to prevent Shokaract's future rise to power. But since Windrazor was basically a smaller, fuzzier Dinobot and Shokaract was basically Unicron, their battle was brief and one-sided. Despite Windrazor's failure, Shokaract was eventually defeated, causing his entire timeline to unravel. Apelinq grabbed Windrazor and opened a transwarp portal back to his own time, but where two entered the time portal, only Apelinq emerged. Windrazor's fate at that time was unknown.

Transformers Collectors' Club
While in transwarp space, Windrazor was retrieved by Primus, whose divine intervention protected the young Maximal from being nullified along with the timeline of his origin. Windrazor was safely deposited in a new location to serve as a sort of "spirit guide" for other champions of Primus, and eventually he was able to convey his gratitude to Apelinq's upgraded form. Wreckers: Finale Part II
When Megatron broke free during his transport back to Cybertron, he sent a message through transwarp to himself in the past, causing a critical chapter of the Beast Wars to be rewritten...
Windrazor appears as an unlockable character exclusive to the Playstation version of the Transmetals fighting game. He features a "Spark Extinguisher" special attack, and encourages all to learn from the past so they may live for the future.
: Windrazor is a white-with-purple-accents redeco of the Maximal Silverbolt, transforming into an eagle-wolf hybrid creature. His wings have spring-loaded missile launchers, while pulling on his beast-mode tail swings them forward. Though easy to confuse with the much darker Silverbolt at a glance, it is impossible to mistake the two toys side by side.

: He was available exclusively at the Botcon 1999 Transformers Convention.

: Windrazor is the only convention exclusive sold on a card with a sealed plastic bubble. The packaging proved unpopular with collectors as it is impossible to remove the toy without destroying its packaging, and so that style was never used again.
If you were to ask Megatron to describe himself in one word, he'd probably go with "heroic". He sees himself as a freedom fighter, leading the Decepticons out of the days of Autobot tyranny. The fact he's hoping to replace that with Decepticon tyranny isn't really a concern. A fanatic at heart, he revels in every Autobot who suffers at Decepticon hands and doesn't register humans as anything more then "collateral Damage."

Megatron demands loyalty from the Decepticons, loyalty he gains by his awe-inspiring power. With the combined threat of a sharp mind, his fusion cannon, a deadly sword and simple brute strength, there aren't many who'd dare cross him. Still, he has no problem manhandling troops as a gentle reminder.

Tech Specs (short for "technical specifications,") are the character-ratings that many Transformers have received on their packaging or on Hasbro.com, ranking qualities like "Strength" and "Intelligence" and "Skill" on a scale of 1-10. While technically the character bios included on most toys are separate from the Tech Specs - and are sometimes called out as such on the packaging itself - the graphic design traditionally merged them into a single box/card (which you are encouraged to "clip and save!"), along with a reduced version of the character's package art. Thus, "tech specs" has become, in casual use, a shorthand term for the entire bio/art/Tech-Specs combination.

The current lineup of stats is: Strength, Intelligence, Speed, Endurance, Rank, Courage, Fireblast (previously Firepower, which actually means something), and Skill. This list has varied surprisingly little over the decades.

While these stats often correspond at least loosely to the described abilities of the characters, parity between characters is virtually nonexistent. Optimus Prime, for instance, has traditionally maxed out most or all of his stats, despite the existence of much stronger, faster, fireblastier characters. The only category with anything really close to a sense of scale between characters is "Rank," where faction leaders tend to be 10s, group leaders tend to be 9s and 8s, and most others are below that. There are of course many exceptions, but at least there's a solid trend.

Generation 1
Tech Specs were present right from the start. With the very first Transformers also came a packaging gimmick: Kids were instructed to "use the special decoder inside to decipher your Tech Specs." A fuchsia criss-cross pattern obscured the blue line that indicated the various ratings, so overlaying a piece of clear red plastic made the blue line much easier to see.

This design was used for a number of years, but it was eventually dropped just before the end of G1 and has yet to return.

However, the Tech Specs tradition far outlasted the "decoder" gimmick. In fact, it once had even spread beyond the packaging and onto the toys themselves. The Headmaster figures contained abbreviated Tech Specs bar-graphs inside their chests. When the head was plugged into the body, bars would emerge on the graph.

After the cartoon was canceled and the comic entered the Furman years, many new toys were made whose corresponding characters never appeared in the fiction. But, with an extremely small number of exceptions, Hasbro continued writing bios and Tech Specs for every toy, and this was the only source of "life" for dozens - perhaps even hundreds - of characters. While some European toys were released with virtually no character information (not even names), even this was a small hiccup in the larger trend.

The Micromaster patrols were notable for being the first variation in stat categories, replacing "Rank" with Teamwork and "Firepower" with Cooperation. The difference between Teamwork and Cooperation isn't quite clear.

Generation 2
The early Generation 2 packages kept all the same information as the Generation 1 toys before them but reorganized it, placing the portrait and bio sections above the stats so that the whole thing resembled a trading card.

Some later Generation 2 toys took this further and came with a separate tech spec card that could fold over so as to "pop-up" an image of the character.

Beast Wars
Beast Wars kept the "trading card" layout but rearranged the elements again. For the first time, the stats were represented numerically rather than via a chart. The portrait was also enlarged.

Earlier cards also included a space displaying the toy's hidden weapons.

Beast Machines
Beast Machines altered the tech spec format once again, most obviously by replacing the illustrated portrait that had been included since Generation 1 with a picture of the actual toy.

More subtly, Beast Machines might be seen as foreshadowing the Robots in Disguise line by beginning the disintegration of the "trading card" format that had predominated in G2 and Beast Wars. While some of the figures did arrange the Tech Spec info in a roughly card-shaped format, it was looser and less formalized in organization. The lack of a standardized size, shape, or backing made them seem less like distinct collectible cards and more like... well, just bits of the box you might want to keep.

Robots In Disguise
It was RID that marked the first real break in tradition, brought on by a move to trilingual packaging. Toys on the smallest packaging cards, such as the Spychangers, literally did not have room for character information. Most Deluxe-sized and larger packaging still retained bios, Tech Specs, and "art," but the bios were graphically separated from the "clip-and-save" box that contained the rest. In at least one case, creative use of space put the Tech Specs box at a 90-degree angle to the rest of the layout, including the bios. And in another, there was no bio at all.

Later on, individually-carded Kay-Bee and Target exclusive versions of the six show-character Spychangers were released with bios and Tech Specs, since the exclusive packaging was English-only. However, this didn't last; the final RID exclusives had Armada-style trilingual packaging with no character info except for names and allegiances. All told, a little less than half of RID releases lacked bios and Tech Specs, which meant more than a third of the characters.

Unicron Trilogy / Universe
Armada continued the departure from tradition, eliminating all character information from the packaging beyond names, allegiances, and a few trilingual "blurbs" noting the vehicle modes and conspicuous weapons or gimmicks. The toys came with sticker cards that had their pictures and names on them, but no further information. This was also true for the Universe line, which started halfway through Armadas run.

Some bios and Tech Specs did appear, but only on the Hasbro website, only for the main Armada characters, and only on a somewhat haphazard schedule. The fandom response ran from neutral to negative; certainly no one was happy about the dwindling output, especially since the supplementary character info had had the most impact on characters who had no other fiction.

But by the time of Energon, the in-package stickers had become trading cards, and in response to the fandom, each had Tech Specs on the back. However, the casual use of the term had muddied the issue: In granting the request for "tech specs," Hasbro hadn't realized that the most important part was the bio, not the actual Tech Spec ratings. So some more time passed before packs of trading cards with bios were released. And, of course, bios continued appearing on the Hasbro site for Energon and Universe characters, though not every character in those series got in before the practice was discontinued.

It was with Cybertron that bios and Tech Specs finally returned to the packaging, with even more information (sometimes further bio info, sometimes toy-trivia) hosted online and accessed via Cyber Key Codes. The Tech Specs also introduced unknown as a rating, such as for Galvatron's stats.

The concurrent Alternators line never got more than names, allegiances, and mottoes. But the Titanium, Classics, and new Movie lines have all continued the old tradition.

Notes
When Hasbro went to trilingual packaging, Aaron Archer said it was because they believed in the near future all products, down to mundane items such as sticks of butter, would require it; they were attempting to get "ahead of the curve." Five years later this obviously has not come to pass, to the relief of most Transformers fans, but not necessarily everyone.
Originally consisting entirely of Star Wars vehicles of various sizes, it has since expanded into Battlestar Galactica vehicles, Marvel Comics characters and Transformers.

Transformers Titaniums are produced in two size classes. Robot Masters are 3-inch non-transformable die-cast figurines of Transformers characters from various past and present toy lines. Cybertron Heroes are 6-inch transformable partially die-cast toys, representing both pre-existing toy designs as well as all-new models by Don Figueroa.

It is worth noting that since the Titaniums are developed by a separate branch of Hasbro from the normal Transformers team (who only has some input into character choices and looks), they do not take away "slots" from other Transformers lines. They are also not engineered or "mech-designed" by Takara.

They are also not actually made of titanium.

Cancellation
In July of 2007, Hasbro announced that no new Titanium figures would be produced, and that the line would end after the upcoming release of figures already completed: Primal Prime, Soundblaster, Skywarp, War Within Grimlock, and War Within Prowl. But as of six months later, none of those figures had been released, and Hasbro announced that they no longer had any plans to mass-produce or release them.

Several other 6" figures were cancelled at much earlier stages in development: Hasbro showed unfinished prototypes of Arcee, Cosmos, Shockwave and The War Within Bumblebee, purely for informational purposes as they were very clear that they no longer had plans to complete development on those figures. However, the Transformers Collectors Club roundtable has suggested there "may still be hope" for these figures to be produced in some form.
Throughout the Transformers multiverse are many Transformers who consider themselves family and refer to each other as such. The most common case is when two Transformers regard each other as siblings: "brothers" (e.g. G1 Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, or Robots In Disguises Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus) or "sisters" (Roulette and Shadow Striker).

Given that Transformers are not organic life and do not reproduce sexually, the origin, distinction, and exact meaning of many of these terms is frequently unclear.

Possible Explanations
The Dreamwave More than Meets the Eye Guide provides a partial possible answer. According to the guide, when a spark naturally splits as it's being introduced to a protoform, it creates two robots who are "brothers" such as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. When such a spark division is artificially induced, the less balanced and self-reliant pair created are referred to as "clones". (This definition of "brother" may or may not apply to RID Prime and Magnus, whose brotherhood was said to result from the special circumstance of having been created simultaneously by Alpha Trion).

However, the "Beast Era" widened the issue of reproduction with Rattrap referring to his "great-aunt" Arcee and in general the practice of Maximals and Predacons referring to the Autobots and Decepticons as their respective "ancestors", as well as themselves as being their "descendants", implying a direct genetic (for want of a better term) lineage. Various sources of debatable canonicity suggest that Optimus Primal is specifically descended from Optimus Prime, usually through the phrase "his ancestor Optimus Prime" (though the events of Optimal Situation seem to prove that all Maximals could reasonably consider Optimus Prime their ancestor).
In the absence of sexual reproduction, the use and meaning of these genealogical references is difficult to explain. One possible explanation might be a situation such as when Airazor is brought to life in Beast Wars. Her spark and protoform are heavily damaged, and Cheetor allows some of his parts to be used as replacements while Rhinox guides the procedure. To compare to humans, this is something like assisting with childbirth and donating blood or organs. It is unlikely that this happened enough to cause "descendants" as they are described, however.

Other family designations exist as well. Wheelie has "parents" who were lost in his crash on Quintessa, according to some background material. The Mini-Con Twirl very specifically calls Falcia her "mother" (which Falcia hates) and seems to treat Redline like a father, since the two's spark frame energies went into constructing her physical form. In the Armada cartoon, Side Swipe refers to Hot Shot as his brother after Hot Shot saves his life, indicating at least an understanding of the concept. The Unicron Trilogy universe has also used the term "cousin" for certain Transformers on occasion. The Japanese Generation 1 Victory manga features Decepticon wives and children. Even the live-action movie features an Optimus and Megatron who are brothers, and it is mentioned in the related Nintendo DS game that Megatron "took the spark" of their father.

A product of Ted Turner's vast empire, Cartoon Network was a showcase channel for Hanna-Barbera's vast archive of classic animation. It became an instant powerhouse for cable in the 1990s, airing both older and new cartoons. The newer projects led to pioneering shows in their own right, amongst them Dexters Lab Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack

CN eventually expanded itself, creating blocks such as Toonami and helping to bring in a new lease of life for the anime movement. In 1998, the Toonami block broadcast the final five episodes of season two of Beast Wars, a welcome development since otherwise American fans would not have seen them for many months and would have been vulnerable to spoilers from Canadians. In 2002, CN revived He-Man for all of ten minutes, and also turned their heads towards Transformers, airing all three seasons of the Unicron Trilogy. They will serve as the distributors of Transformers Animated

The Axalon is a Maximal exploration vessel whose mission was to explore and survey uninhabited worlds, seeding them with stasis pods so that those Transformers within could adopt the appearance of local lifeforms and conduct research undisturbed.
However, she was called upon to intercept and pursue a stolen Predacon starship, and was subsequently never heard from again by her superiors.

When Megatron's band of Predacon criminals stole the Golden Disk and escaped in their stolen ship, the Darksyde, the Maximal science vessel Axalon was the only ship close enough with the Transwarp engines needed to pursue him.

Her crew at the start of the Beast Wars appears to have been newly assembled and the captain, Optimus Primal, was new to command. However, the Axalon itself had already been in service for at least a while. The Dinobot Airraptor once served aboard her before the Beast Wars as interplanetary surveyor and navigator.

The Axalon engaged the Darksyde in battle as soon as both starships came out of transwarp, chasing the Predacon ship to a primative world that would later be revealed as Earth. Outgunned by the Darksyde, the Axalon's engines were severely damaged and she was slowly dragged towards the surface by the planet's gravitational pull. Realizing their ship would not survive, their cargo of stasis pods were launched into safe orbit from the rear docking back. Despite this grim setback, Optimus Primal was not willing to allow their enemies to escape, and so ordered the forward plasma cannon to be fired at the Darksyde, a well-targeted shot that crippled the Predacon warship. Soon afterwards, both ships crash-landed. Beast Wars, Part 1

After crashing on Earth the Axalon became the Maximal's base of operations. Still flight worthy, the Axalon took her last trip into the air when the Maximals were able to salvage parts from the Darksyde when they mistakenly thought the Predacons had destroyed themselves in an energon explosion. The trip was brief and the crash, caused by Megatron, ensured that the Axalon would never fly again.

After Megatron's attempt to alter history, she was further destroyed by Predacon forces, as Rampage and some of Tarantulas's spider drones pulled her off the cliff that she was straddling. The ship's forward quarter, including the command center, split off and fell first, landing on dry land. The remainder, including her drives and primary computer center, fell afterwards and sank into the lake. The remains of the command center were salvaged to help fortify the Ark against Predacon attack. Optimal Situation Rattrap would later undertake a dangerous mission below the lake's surface to salvage the Sentinel shield control module; a simultaneous underwater battle between Rampage and Depth Charge sent the ship's remains plummetting even further into the lake's depths.

It would appear the Maximals left the remains of the Axalon behind when they returned to Cybertron. Nemesis, Part 2
As the Axalon was a science vessel, she is scantily armed and even then primarily for defensive purposes. However, her main forward plasma cannons have enough power to cripple Predacon ships (such as the Darksyde) with several well-targeted shots.
Her rear docking bay can launch stasis pods in the event of an emergency.

'Quality of animation'
Is there any proof that another studio (not mentioned in this article, but generally attributed to TMS) animated this episode as opposed to Toei? All we really have going is that whomever animated this episode used completely different animation models with exaggerated porportions and styling. And is being drawn well an indication of good animation, because I don't really see much in terms of animation that's really all that. --FFN 18:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
:Neither do I. I would argue that Dweller In The Depths or Chaos had much better animation than COTP, and looked much better throughout because everybody was actually drawn on-model instead of being covered with ridiculous giant spikes.--74.9.76.162 18:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>
