Devastator

:Devastator is a Decepticon combiner from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Devastator is an immensely powerful warrior, and in that sense the combination of the Constructicons into a merged being is a huge success. Mentally, on the other hand, he's very much less than the sum of his parts. Devastator's primitive psyche is limited to only the thoughts and actions on which all his components can agree, which results in raging bouts of destructive fury. Given the sheer power Devastator brings to these rages, Megatron has no complaints.

Nominally he is composed of the six robots...
Generation 1 cartoon
:Voice Actor: Arthur Burghardt (US), Seizō Katō (Japan)

Megatron had the Constructicons built on Earth to steal high-tech electronic components for his Power chip rectifier furnace, as well as tunelling under the Ark to destroy Teletraan-1. Teletraan-I, sensing the imminent danger, activates the Dinobots. The Dinobots respond and start pounding on the Constructicons opening up a lava channel in the process. The battle not going in their favor, the Constructicons pull out one last trick and combine into the super warrior, Devastator.

The returning Autobots see the battle, but are unable to help. Inside the Ark, Teletraan-I is able to show that Megatron cheated, and the Autobots rush outside to help the Dinobots. Distracted by one of Hound’s holograms, Devastator is shot by Optimus Prime and falls apart and into the lava. Heavy Metal War.
Zone OVA and manga
Voice Actor: Hirohiko Kakegawa (Japan)

(Devastator is referred to as one of the Nine Great Demon Generals. This terminology, coupled with the presence of the previously deceased Black Zarak in their ranks and Violen Jygar's supernatural origins, could mean that Devastator died previously to Zone and was likewise brought back to life. However, this is unconfirmed, meaning that Violen Jygar may have simply recruited the still-living Devastator to be a General.)

Devastator was selected by Violen Jygar as one of his 9 Decepticon Demon-Generals. Gifted with a new bitchin' drill-weapon and armor, Violen Jygar sent Devastator to the Earth to steal the Zodiac before the Autobots could get it. Devastator drilled deep within the planet, reaching the Zodiac's chamber, and went toe-to-toe with Dai Atlas. He managed to get the Zodiac first and pass it off to King Poseidon. Devastator had the upper hand in battle until Dai Atlas opened a vein of hot lava upon the Decepticon. Devastator was washed-away in the molten magma, apparantly killed by it.

He also destroyed the World Trade Center by flying through it. That damn terrorist!

Marvel Comics continuity
Dreamwave comics continuity
After Megatron freed the other Decepticons from Adam Rook's control, he sent Devastator down the west coast of North America. Along the way, Devastator destroyed a US Navy submarine, before arriving at his destination, San Francisco.

Devastator helped destroy the city until he was initially stopped by Superion, and finally put into stasis lock when Optimus Prime blew up his head.
Toys
Generation 1
*Devastator (Giftset, 1985)
: Japanese ID number: D-37

: Normally, Devastator could only be assembled by buying all six individual Constructicons with the additional large-scale weapons components that were assigned to them. However, six-robot gift sets were made available in many markets, including the US, Japan, and several European countries.

: Devastor's forearms are also spring-loaded missile launchers, able to fire his fists as well as his drill attachments. He also comes armed with a large purple laser rifle.

: Unlike the later Scramble City-style combiners, Devastator's limbs cannot be rearranged into any other configuations.

*Devastator with Scorpulator (Action Master, 1990)

: A non-transforming action figure compatible with any other Action Master vehicle or accessory, Devastator's sculpt is a combination of the original animation model and several more toy-based elements. He came with his small animal partner Scorpulator.

Generation 2
*Devastator (1993)
: During Generation 2, the Constructicons were only available as individuals, never as a giftset. The team was released in two different colors, initially in yellow, then later in bright orange. All individual members are tampographed with the G2 Decepticon symbol and the words 'Decepticon'.

:Other than colour scheme and the lack of rubsigns, G2 Devastator is functionally identical to the original release.

Classics
*Constructicon Devastator (Multi-pack, 2007)

: For Classics, Devastator is a redeco of the Energon combiner Constructicon Maximus. He was available only in a full five-pack, exclusive to Wal-Mart stores.

: Since the original combiner contains only five robots, the Constructicon team here contains only Bonecrusher, Hightower (who may or may not be related to Hook and/or Mixmaster as his bio seems to combine attributes of both), Long Haul, Scavenger and Scrapper. Also, because of the combination method used, he can also use any of the Energon-series limb-robots.

Trivia
* Though a yellow version of the Constructicons were released in the European market at the tail end of Generation 1, they did not come with any of the parts to form Devastator. In fact, Scavenger and Hook had the connector parts on their actual toys removed.

* It has been rumored that the orange Generation 2 Constructions were a Kay-Bee Toys exclusive, but this is unconfirmed.

the Minion of Unicron

:Megabolt is a Decepticon Minion of Unicron from the Universe conflict.

For countless civilizations, the arrival of Megabolt means the end of them, though the exact methods vary. Sometimes he appears as a benefactor, though it is only a ruse so his fellow Decepticons can catch the targeted victims by surprise. Other times, he simply wades in like a force of nature, destroying everything in his path. Either way, death and destruction lie in his wake.

Megabolt is utterly convinced of the superiority of the Cybertron race, and sees everything else in the vast multiverse as fuel for the Decepticons' conquest. His incredible strength, massive firepower and troop-carrying abilities make him the first-strike weapon in many of Unicron's plans. He is also a cunning strategist and even a politician when need be, having assimilated data from thousands of subjugated and destroyed worlds. Brains and brawn.

Fiction
Megabolt has not technically appeared in any of the official fictions. Though he was released under the Robots in Disguise toy line, his character bio from the 3H fan club magazine places him in the Universe series.

Toys
Robots in Disguise
*Megabolt (Deluxe, 2003)

: A Kay-Bee Toys exclusive redeco of the original Kay-Bee exclusive Megatron Megabolt, Megabolt transforms from a robot into a large head-shaped tank with six insect-like legs. A gear-wheel mechanism moves the legs up and down as the tank mode is pushed along. Pressing the spark crystal on the tank's top opens its jaw and fires a spring-loaded missile. In robot mode, this swings the entire cannon assembly up over the robot's head, along with a "battle mask".

Trivia/Notes
If you remove the insect-legs from Megabolt's tank mode, he fits almost perfectly into the neck-socket of the Fortress Maximus mold.
