When Decepticon Pretenders Blood and Gilmer attacked a cruise ship off the coast of Canada in an attempt to draw out their old Autobot Pretender foe, they brought a small group of Gulfs with them. At Blood's instruction, the fish-monsters tore open the ship's hull and destroyed its engines. {{storylink|Rise Up!! Pretenders|Rise Up!! With the debut of the Seacon commander Turtler on the battlefield, at least one Gulf would usually be present in order to combine with its leader as the right leg of the giant King Poseidon. The guns also plug together to form the barrel of Gulf's third mode; an artillery emplacement that mounts on top of a stand formed from three individual components. Make no mistake; Verity Carlo is intelligent, nimble, resourceful, self-reliant and cunning. Problem is, she likes to think she's tougher, smarter and has more guts than pretty much everyone else. It's a good part of what allows her to maintain her rootless teen-aged existence hitch-hiking across the United States, living on theft and what little kindness she receives from strangers (although two mace sprays nestled in her backpack attest to how little she's willing to trust said strangers).

Something happened to Verity when she was a child, though, something that hurt her so badly that she refuses to form a serious bond with anyone or show any sign of fear. It's been with her so long that she abandoned several foster homes and (presumably) welcoming families when she was in her mid-teens. Because of that hurt Verity sees most people as marks, dupes or threats. Fear of getting hurt again keeps her moving when she maybe ought to settle down, and makes her abrasive and superior.

Whether it'll get her killed one day is anyone's guess...
While on the run, as usual, Verity had the (mis)fortune of stealing the palm computer of a Machination agent—a computer she couldn't know mapped out secret Decepticon bases. After fleeing the bus the two were on and hitching a ride with Hunter O'Nion, the Battlechargers and Thundercracker pursued the pair, destroying Hunter's bus. Fortunately, Ratchet was nearby, and offered them aid. Infiltration issue 0 They fled to the garage of Verity's friend Jimmy Pink, but they had been followed, and Jimmy was forced to join them on the run. Infiltration issue 1

Verity was not content to just wait at Autobot HQ, though. When the Autobots discovered the Decepticons' abandoned Oregon base, Verity, Hunter, Jimmy, Ratchet, and Bumblebee disobeyed orders in order to reconnoiter it. Verity was almost killed by Decepticons trying to cover their tracks when she went deeper into the base, finding the corpses of people turned into facsimiles, and Megatron. Infiltration issue 4 She went into shock at the sight of Megatron, fear shattering her tough image, and had to be rescued by her friends when the Decepticon base began to collapse and almost buried her alive Infiltration issue 5, but initially still tried to act unbothered and like she wanted to continue. Hunter had to tell her that in this situation, it was okay to show she was scared. Infiltration issue 6

When the Machination seemingly killed Hunter and Sunstreaker while under Optimus Prime's orders to return the humans home, Verity became visibly distraught, despite her "tough girl" personality. Escalation issue 1 The hope that Hunter could still be alive compelled her, Jimmy, Ratchet, and Ironhide to break Autobot orders again. Jimmy's mechanic skills and Verity's hacking skills led the quartet to a Machination facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Escalation issue 3 Verity and Jimmy managed to break into the compound, hidden under an auto parts store. Verity located a strange business card, emblazoned only with an "M". Unfortunately, soon after, the two were knocked out with gas. Escalation issue 4 Ironhide and Ratchet managed to save the duo, but at the expense of Ironhide; the facility exploded, severely damaging Ironhide. No one knew it yet, but the unconscious Verity, safe inside Ratchet, was clutching the "M" card. Escalation issue 6

The palm-top which Verity stole was examined by Nightbeat and contributed to the Autobots' decision to relocate the Ark-19. Devastation issue 1 Unfortunately, the vessel was shot down by Sixshot; Ratchet, Verity and Jimmy ejected in an escape pod before the crash. Devastation issue 2 Verity was injured by Sixshot's attack, but Ratchet's avatar was able to treat her wounds. As the other Autobots arrived and battled Sixshot, Verity overheard plans for an all-out human airstrike on the warring parties. She and Jimmy stole a motorboat and police megaphone, using them to warn Ratchet of the incoming strike. With seconds to spare, Ratchet took the two humans along with him as the Autobots escaped via orbital bounce to the orbiting Ark-32. But the process was too traumatic for the humans to endure, leaving them lifeless. Devastation issue 4 Ratchet did manage to restore Verity and Jimmy's vital signs, but only after a prolonged flatline whose final effects on the pair were unknown. Devastation issue 5 The Ark-32 then left orbit for Garrus-9, apparently with the two humans still aboard. Devastation issue 6

Verity and Jimmy apparently survived the ordeal just fine, even getting some new clothes to replace their very smelly Earth duds. They had a joyful reunion with Hunter after his rescue from the Machination. Maximum Dinobots issue 5
Optimus and Galvatron wage their final brutal battle, while the rest of the Transformers deal with Unicron.

Summary
Unicron is no longer functional, his body lying dormant in space. Hot Shot lets the assembled armies return to Cybertron to begin the rebuilding.

Inside of Unicron, Galvatron holds onto the idea that he can still become the sole ruler of the universe. Now that Unicron is gone, it's left to Optimus and Galvatron to finish the war. Optimus and the kids try to argue that now that the two militaries have been united, there's no need to continue the fight, but Galvatron reminds his foe that the hatred left over from an unfinished war would repower Unicron.

On Cybertron, Side Swipe alerts the other that Unicron is in motion again. Hot Shot decides to go to Unicron to retrieve Optimus, but Jetfire takes Hot Shot's place. Cyclonus follows Jetfire.

Optimus says goodbye to the children; the kids don't want to go, but he convinces them that the final battle must be fought. After throwing away the Matrix (so it isn't damaged in battle), Prime starts the fight with some gunfire and a knee to Galvatron's face. When Megatron gets up, he and Prime blast their firepower at each other.

Outside of Unicron, Jetfire and Cyclonus pick up the kids and bring them back to Cybertron. The kids report on what the two leaders are doing, and it seems Unicron isn't quite dead either. Under heavy pressure, Hot Shot orders the attack against Unicron to be resumed, with special care taken not to harm the leaders.

Inside, Prime and Galvatron continue to rumble. Prime throws one of his wheels directly into Galvatron's primary cannon. The resulting explosion blasts Galvatron through a wall, but the Decepticon is only amused by the ferocity of the combat. Unicron's words echo in Prime's mind. Galvatron uses his extending antlers to toss Prime around. Prime breaks off the blades and uses them against his rival, but Galvatron scores a critical hit through Optimus with his hidden wrist blade.

The Transformers buzz around Unicron, blasting him through his own trenches. Alexis notices that during the combat, a large, growing black hole has appeared on Unicron's surface.

Prime stands up, refusing to give up the fight. Decompression sends the warriors outside of Unicron, onto his external surface. Galvatron acquires a nearby pipe to use as a battle staff, but Optimus displays amazing agility and stands on the staff, prancing along it to kick Galvatron in the face. While Galvatron is still stunned, Optimus hefts his foe and cramps Galvatron's midsection, but in the process, the metal pipe is shoved down Prime's back.

The two warriors break for a moment, and Galvatron admits that even though he lost the battle, he enjoyed the thrill of it. The moment of peace between the two is disturbed by Unicron transforming into his planet mode. Prime is stuck holding onto Galvatron as the two are sucked toward Unicron's maw. Galvatron, determined to see only one winner of the war (even if it isn't him) instructs Prime to let him fall. Prime refuses, so Galvatron cuts himself loose and free-falls into oblivion. As soon as Galvatron is absorbed, Unicron vanishes. Left floating in space, Optimus decides he's unworthy of the Matrix.

Sometime later, Hot Shot and Jetfire return the kids to Earth. They agree that they've all learned a lot from each other ever since their first encounter. Carlos, Fred, and Billy start to cry. Alexis gazes down at her pendant that contains the Mars stone that Starscream gave her, smiling sadly as if remembering him. With the war over, Prime narrates the closing moments. But hidden behind a distant, green planet, Unicron endures.
Notes
Differences with Micron Legend
* Near the end where Optimus is refusing to let go of Galvatron from being sucked into Unicron, there's a change of translation. Galvatron practically yells at Optimus to let go so that Unicron will die from the lack of evil and to watch over the Autobots after slicing his own tread in Armada. In Micron Legend, Galvatron observes that despite their differences in appearances, both might have been looking for the same thing, and that Optimus is the light while he's darkness. On slicing his own tread, he adds that even in the next generation (or world), Prime is destined be his rival, plus that so long as there's light there will be darkness, and to not forget that evil is eternal. Where Optimus yells his rival's name after disappearing into Unicron in Armada, he whispers "Megatron" in Micron Legend.

Animation and/or technical glitches
*When Hot Shot yells "Attack!" as Unicron is transforming back into planet mode, the animation actually shows the Transformer fleet escaping (which would make sense), which suggests Hot Shot's line was a scripting error.

Continuity errors
Transformers references
While Shockwave makes a deal with Soundwave and his minions, Sunstreaker goes to recover his real head and the Machination crumbles.

Synopsis
Ravage breaks into a house in Portland, Oregon. His mission is to reclaim Soundwave from his "owner", Jimmy. Seeing Soundwave, Ravage orders Laserbeak to reclaim him, which he does. As Jimmy's mother runs upstairs to see if he's alright, the two Decepticons take Soundwave to Mount St. Helens. However, Soundwave is weak, and can barely block Skywatch's control signal on the cassettes, due to being shunted in his cassette player mode. Shockwave suddenly appears, orders Soundwave to stand Ravage and Laserbeak down, and proposes a deal to the three.

In Dallas, Texas, Hot Rod escapes from the Machination HQ, but collapses due to his crushed foot. Hearing a voice, Hot Rod is aghast, believing he has run into another clone—but it's not a clone, it's the real Sunstreaker who blasts two Headmasters following Hot Rod. Hot Rod tries to warn him about the dangers, but Sunstreaker doesn't care; he just wants his head back. Hot Rod, upset over Sunstreaker's arrogance, decides to call for reinforcements while Sunstreaker stomps into the facility. He has had enough, and is determined to get his real head. But Scorponok is watching!

On the Monsterbots' shuttle, 60,000 feet above northern Nebraska, the Monsterbots are waiting for Grimlock to give them what he promised them, for which they had to travel to Earth and participate in the battle in Fallon to save the Dynobots. Grimlock says they'll get what they want, but not yet. This upsets Repugnus, who says that he's willing to trust Grimlock, but that Doublecross and Grotusque are more likely to rip Grimlock's head off. Grimlock says their prize is nearly all the technology that was in Shockwave's onboard data-cache before the Dynobots blew his ship up. Repugnus believes that the data is encoded and Grimlock confirms this, but is upset that they need someone to de-code it and find out more about Shockwave's time on Earth, and how the Earth once had a stratospherically high level of Energon.

Outside the cockpit, the Dynobots wonder what the conversation's about. Swoop doesn't care, but doesn't like it anyway. Snarl believes it's another sign of just how far the Dynobots have fallen. Based on Repugnus' comments during the battle at Fallon, Snarl thinks that the Dynobots' original operation—all that time ago—wasn't officially sanctioned, as they were told by Grimlock. The Dynobots wish that they could return to the simple days of bustin' Decepticons, but have a bad feeling that there's no going back. Grimlock leaves the cockpit, announcing that he managed to extend their alliance with the Monsterbots. They plan to rebuild the Skyfire, so that Grimlock can get even with Scorponok. However, he ends up getting a stern look from the Dynobots.

At the Machination headquarters, Hot Rod tries to boost his internal comm system to the right audio reception so that he can get a strong enough signal for someone to answer his call for reinforcements. He manages to get the comm to work, but it shocks him badly. Despite this, he sends out a message galaxy-wide to any Autobot listening in the vicinity. Inside the headquarters, Sunstreaker manages to find to his original head, but as he opens a large door, he is blasted point-blank in the chest by Scorponok. Scorponok advances towards Sunstreaker to go for the kill, but notices that Hunter is gone. Scorponok is enraged, but before he can find Hunter, Drake calls to warn about an approaching Cybertronian vessel, closing in fast. Scorponok mobilizes the headquarters' defenses, as Hot Rod hopes that it's not another epic/heroic tilt.

Inside the Monsterbots' vessel, the Dynobots don't see the point of fighting Scorponok, but Grimlock says that Scorponok made it their fight when he turned the Dynobots against him. Snarl disagrees, saying that it has always been Grimlock's fight, that he and the other Dynobots went along with him, and that it's now Grimlock's wounded pride at stake. Snarl asks Grimlock, "Does getting even matter so much, you're willing to take us all down with you?" Inside the cockpit, the Monsterbots target the defenses and blast away at them. Grimlock exits the ship, saying that there's no way he can let this go. With or without the Dynobots, there will be a reckoning for Scorponok. The Dynobots decide that arguing is pointless and follow Grimlock. Scorponok orders that the neural clamps be activated, but the technician says that the implants aren't responding. Scorponok decides to settle the matter... personally.

Hunter comes out of his hiding place and enters the room holding Sunstreaker's real head. Outside, the Dynobots tear away at the Sunstreaker clones with ease, trying to dismantle the Machination empire piece by piece. Snarl gets hit in the leg, and muses that bad language is their only option now. Grimlock wants to settle the score with Scorponk personally, but Snarl rebukes this, saying that they fight or fall together, and that they're Dynobots to the bitter end. Inside, Hunter says to Sunstreaker that what he's about to do is only because there are no options left. With tears of remorse, Hunter pulls the cords from Sunstreaker's head, shutting him down.

With Sunstreaker offline, the clones cease to function. Grimlock wonders what happened, and Hot Rod slowly walks over to him, saying that Sunstreaker pulled the plug on himself. Sludge cries out in victory, but the moment is short-lived as Scorponok blasts Sludge into stasis. Scorponok is furious, now that his empire is in shambles, and decides to take revenge on Grimlock. However, Shockwave also appears overhead, wanting revenge as well, and a new battle is about to begin.

In space, Ultra Magnus has also received Hot Rod's signal, and vows to Scorponok that only one of them will walk away.

Squeezeplay doesn't draw much of a line between sabotage and devastation. He considers himself an unstoppable engine of destruction, and will charge into any situation without regards to safety. He's not an idiot -- he's merely harnessed the tactical advantages of brute force and intimidation. As Squeezeplay figures it, he is strong enough, tough enough, and fierce enough to plow through most battlefield fortifications and opponents without much damage, so...why not simply do that?

His Nebulan partner, Lokos, was a smuggler and air pirate on his home planet before joining the Decepticons. His relationship with Squeezeplay is two-fold. On the one hand, Lokos was always a creative and crafty criminal, and so he tries to get Squeezeplay to use his head more in combat. On the other hand, though, he recognizes the sheer brutal effectiveness of his partner's methods, and so more often than not is comfortable just to let Squeezeplay have his fun.
Why mess with what works?
Squeezeplay worked with his partners Horri-Bull and Fangry in manipulating a group of human bounty hunters called the Roadjammers into capturing the Autobots for them. : Squeezeplay has a "crab monster" mode, which looks something like a bipedal creature grew out of the underside of a crab, wearing the crustacean as a hat. His tail detaches into a handheld mace. Like the other Small Headmasters, there is a compartment which Squeezeplay can store Lokos while in crab monster mode.

: In robot mode, like all Headmaster toys, Squeezeplay has a panel on his chest which houses a spring-loaded mini-Tech-Spec-meter which gives readouts for Speed, Strength and Intelligence. The tumbler is activated when Lokos (or any other Headmaster unit) is plugged into his neck socket.

:As a smaller Headmaster Squeezeplay's power meter is on a single tumbler -- so any head plugged into Squeezeplay will result in the same stats. His small size also robbed him of the door that usually hides the tech spec meters on larger Headmasters, as well as the flip-down face-covering panel of the 1987 Headmasters.

Synopsis
Seaspray is pulling a water skiing Bumblebee around a lake, but Bumblebee wipes out while trying to jump a ramp. 'Bee decides to call it a day, as the first star comes out. Seaspray makes a wish on the star, but keeps it a secret, otherwise it won't come true.

Meanwhile, on another planet, the Tlalakans are all wishing for one thing...freedom from Deceptitran, who has enslaved them. He has developed a unique method of gathering energon by directly harvesting it from the Tlalakans themselves. However, the Tlalakans have finally had enough, and revolt. As his droids appear incapable of stopping them, Deceptitran sends out a distress signal.

Back on Earth, Seaspray is still wishing on stars, when he suddenly receives a signal. Heading back to the base, the two Autobots show it to Optimus Prime and Perceptor. Perceptor can't identify any specifics, but he is sure that it's a distress signal. Optimus sends the three in Cosmos, but the Autobot leader himself is too large to come. The Autobots depart, as Optimus wishes them luck. Before they reach the planet, Perceptor discovers that the distress signal is similar to ones intercepted during the Third Cybertron War. Seaspray suddenly realizes that they're responding to a distress signal intended for the Decepticons. Before they can abort, Deceptitran detects them, and orders the droids to open fire. As the Autobots emerge from the crash, the droids swoop in to finish the job, when the Tlalakans suddenly attack. Seaspray manages to save one, who calls herself Alana...and Seaspray appears a little shy.

Meanwhile, Astrotrain enters the planet's atmosphere and lands in the city. Megatron has come with Soundwave, Dirge, and Rumble to assist. After Deceptitran briefs Megatron on the situation, the Decepticons go Autobot hunting.

Meanwhile, the Autobots are being taken to the Well of Transformation, which the Tlalakans describe as the one secret that they have kept from Deceptitran. Unfortunately, a pair of droids have followed them in. Bumblebee downs one, while Seaspray throws another into the Well...where it dissolves. Alana explains that the Well dissolves the body, leaving only the lifeforce, which the Tlalakans use to change into whatever they want. Alana warns them not to get in, fearing that they will die just like the droid. After turning into a mermaid, Alana bids them farewell, blowing Seaspray a kiss. Bumblebee has to drag a babbling Seaspray out of the cave.

Heading to the river, the Autobots are discovered by Laserbeak, and the rest of the Decepticons swoop in. Seaspray transforms and takes the Autobots down the river—and right over the waterfall. Perceptor, Seaspray, and Cosmos are rescued by the Tlalakans, while Bumblebee is captured. The Autobots are taken to the Tlalakans underwater city, the only place that the Decepticons have not conquered. They meet Tlaloc, their king, who loans them some warriors to rescue Bumblebee and storm the city. However, Cosmos and Perceptor are too damaged. It's just Seaspray and his men. Er, mermen. After the mermen and Alana change back into humans, some of the mermen set bombs under the city, heralding the start of the attack. The Decepticons go to attack the Tlalakans, while Bumblebee activates a homing beam. He signals Seaspray, who rescues Bumblebee and damages Deceptitran. The Tlalakans withdraw, taking Bumblebee with them, while Seaspray and Alana go to the well. Unfortunately, Laserbeak follows Bumblebee underwater...

In the control room, Deceptritran is having a panic attack, causing Megatron to simply turn him off (why he doesn't do that with Starscream is beyond anyone's guess). Megatron receives a signal from Laserbeak, and promises to join their little friend in a short while...

In the forest, the Tlalakans are being chased by the droids, but manage to reach the Well of Transformation. Seaspray asks if Alana really believes he would die if he went in, but Alana points out that they're both machines. Feeling dejected, Seaspray resolves to go into the Well, as Alana cries out in horror. Believing him dead, Alana muses that she did love Seaspray...only for Seaspray to emerge as a blond muscle man, but with robot feet (and for some reason, still a gargling voice). The two jump into the Well and change into merpeople. They discover that the city is under attack by the Decepticons, but Seaspray doesn't have any weapons systems as a merman. Spotting them, Megatron orders Rumble to follow. Rumble begins firing, only for his body to also be affected by the Well. Alana begins to tell Rumble to think of a big tree, or become lost. Rumble survives...as a tree. Seaspray resumes his old robot mode, while Alana takes one of her own, as a measure for fighting Decepticons, but she likes her color (guess what it is). On the surface, Seaspray and Alana head to the above water city (with Alana transforming into a gondola) and attack Deceptitran's forces.

Underwater, the Decepticons are overwhelming the Autobots and Tlalakans, when Megatron receives a mayday from Deceptitran. Megatron is willing to leave Deceptitran to die, but the energon must be protected. Heading back for the city, the Decepticons spot Seaspray, and follow him into the energon warehouse. However, the droids fire on the Decepticons, as Alana has reprogrammed Decepitran to serve her. The explosion causes a massive tremor, destroys the city and causes Rumble, back in the caves, to fall into the Well of Transformation, allowing him to change back. Megatron orders Astrotrain to transform and take them off the planet.

As the Tlalakans celebrate, Alana has retaken her human form, but tells Seaspray that they won't let it ruin their relationship. As the two sail off into the sunset, Bumblebee notices the first star, and asks if anyone wants to make a wish. Perceptor asks why, and Bee says that it's merely a human superstition he heard...
Notes
Animation or technical glitches
*When Alana runs to assist Chac, the first cell is reversed, making her appear to be on the wrong side of the screen for an instant.
*While analyzing the distress signal, Perceptor's helmet is red.

*When Rumble is changed into a tree, he appears to be simply a tree with a mouth and eye holes, but during his close-up, his face is its regular, robotic self, apart from the fact his visor is now two separate eyes.
* When Deceptitran radios Megatron to tell him the energon supplies are in jeopardy, Soundwave's visor is white.
* When the droids first start firing on the Decepticons, the walls are pink.
* Megatron tells Dirge and the droids to chase Seaspray and Alana, but only the droids go.

Continuity errors
*Although Tlaloc appears to be among the mer-Tlalakans leading the escaping prisoners away, he later expresses surprise that Alana and Mok are free.

Transformers references
*Much of this episode takes place underwater, yet Bumblebee does not display any kind of special aptitude for underwater operations like his Tech Spec bio suggests he should.

Real-world references
*Sea-change or seachange is a poetical or informal term meaning a gradual transformation in which the form is retained but the substance is replaced, as with petrification.
* The vaguely Meso-American aesthetic of the natives and the word "Tlalakan" itself suggests that the planet is meant to evoke Tlalocan, the "heaven" in Aztec cosmology reserved for those who died by drowning or had an otherwise water-related death. That's, uh, actually pretty morbid!
* One of the Tlalakan natives is even named Tlaloc, after the Aztec god of rain and water who ruled Tlalocan. Hopefully, he didn't demand child sacrifices like the real one...
*Conversely, another of the natives is named Chac, which is very similar to Chaac, who was a Mayan god of rain.
:Mirage is a Vehicon from the Beast Machines portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Mirage is a joker. This sneaky and elusive Vehicon likes nothing better than to play pranks on those around him -- even if it's his fellow Vehicons. Superb speed and the ability to teleport up to 200 yards makes him an ideal quick attack specialist. Unfortunately, he's also very dumb, forcing Megatron to constantly keep an eye on him.

Mirage was "created by Megatron to breach the intelligence gap between Vehicon generals and their drones." It is unclear whether Mirage has a spark and acts as a lieutenant of sorts for a general (most likely Thrust) or if he's simply an advanced drone with more autonomy.
Fiction
Universe: The Wreckers
Mirage was a Vehicon created by Megatron to bolster his ranks of light infantry in the fight against the Maximals. Mirage was sent to investigate a transwarp anomaly. The anomaly, heralding the arrival of Primal Prime and his crew from ancient Earth, also drew the attention of the Wreckers Rodimus and Apelinq. In the ensuing battle, Mirage and Apelinq plunged into the anomaly moments before it closed. Apelinq ended up on ancient Earth. Mirage, on the other hand, was destroyed either within the anomaly or soon after their arrival. Reaching the Omega Point

Back on Cybertron, Megatron sent a light infantry force of Mirage's chase model drones and Scavenger drones, to fight alongside the generals Spy Streak, Blastcharge, and Quake and their respective drones to guard an old Autobot shuttle from the Wreckers, who wished to use it to get offworld. It was quite the welcoming party. The majority of the Mirage drones were destroyed by the Wreckers. Those that weren't were caught in the blast that consumed the facility as the shuttle launched. Departure

**Accessories: Left & right tailpipe missiles, gun

: Mirage transforms into a translucent blue, yellow and silver Cybertronic racer that resembles a heavily modified Formula One car. He includes two pressure-launch missiles that resemble exhaust pipes. In robot mode, the soles of his feet are unfortunately the painted rear wheel covers, and thus are prone to paint chipping. The gun on his head can be removed and held as a pistol.

: This mold was also used to make Robots in Disguise Mirage GT.

Trivia
* Mirage's on-package bio is very similar to Skywarp's, including the ability to teleport and the need for constant supervision.
