Do you have a quote of Sentinel being specifically mentioned in the comic? I don't remember anything past the uni scene. ::Erm ok, thanks for the quote Starfield, anyway, Jetfire explained in the adaptations that The Fallen returned to Cybertron, after the battle with the first generation for Earth, slaughtering all the Primes except for the child hidden from him (Optimus). Unless Sentinel is revealed to be alive in TF3, which is unlikely considering this was not mentioned in the final edit of ROTF, then he probably died because of The Fallen. :::Starfield, I actually wanted the answer Alientraveller gave. I'm well aware of Sentinel's existence in the movieverse, but I just couldn't remember a reference in issue 3 User:Eire
::Look, I think it's the leader of the 7/12/13 too... but the phrasing in the movie itself (which I just checked on, er... Youtube) isn't clear-cut enough to even say for certain that Sentinel Prime is an individual-- let alone that he's one of the 12! The phrasing is just... ambiguous, and the timeline is a godawful mess thanks to ROTF's 17,000 years retcon, and questions of whether the 13 in the movie are the 13 or not. (They're not. I mean... the movie fucking cut them down to 7. But until something official comes through to make it certain... it's just a collosal brain-ache that makes logical inference almost impossible.)
::Now... I thought that something... (a book or video game?) mentioned movieverse Sentinel Prime in a clearer light, but if so... it was around the time we were swamped with new stuff, and the ref never got documented. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
:::The first time I heard Sentinel mentioned was in the movie. And the Sentinel Prime expedition. You'd be forgiven for presuming, and really there's no reason not too, it was named after the Prime in charge. And given the massively different origin of the Primes in the movie compared to the adaptations, it seems again logical that he's simple a predecessor of Optimus, not one of the original Primes. There is some assumptions being made, however they are logical assumptions. IF you're concerned, throw in a note at the bottom. Personally, I think it's a bit of an assumption that Sentinel in the comics is one of the original Primes, but I can see why AT put it the way he did User:Eire 13.35 Oct 13 09 (UTC)

Fact checking -- US Gen1
Welp, this is shaping up to be a pretty massive article. It may need to be divided later on down the track. Right now what it needs is a little bit of fact checking. Anyone with the following toys, can you please check that they do in fact have 5mm pegs/ports:
*<strike>Ramhorn</strike>
*<strike>Slugfest and Overkill</strike>
*Beastbox and Squawktalk
*Pretender Beasts
*Pretender Vehicles
*The Mega Pretenders
*The Ultra Pretenders
*<strike>Punch/Counterpunch</strike>

Please use the original releases to check as reissues sometimes have distinctly different post sizes or tolerances which would make them invalid as tests -- we'll get to the reissues later as this article develops.
Jhiaxus 04:44, 11 February 2010 (EST)
::Just checked my original Ramhorn, and his post holes are slightly larger than 5mm. Specifically, Deluxe Classics Prime's rifle is loose in the hole, Deluxe Animated Battle Begins Prime's axe is tight. For comparison, my Voyager Classics Prime can hold that gun tightly, but must hold the axe by the posts near the head. Weren't all the holes on the cassettes slightly larger? Khajidha 11:11, 12 February 2010 (EST)
::Found weapons (no figures) for Slugfest and Overkill, they fit loosely on Ramhorn. Their designs won't let them fit Voyager Classic Prime's fist, but they fit quite well in the hole that his wind vane/ion blaster attaches to on his back. Guess that makes them 5mm posts. Khajidha 11:23, 12 February 2010 (EST)
Just to report Overlord does not have 5MM fists. His fist holes/gun-peg are *much* larger. However he does have a set of holes in his upper arms (not screw holes as far as I can tell) that are 5mm. Checked Slugfest and Overkill too, they can fit PM Primes gun but it's a tad tight. 76.28.76.206
:I just checked, and Skyhammer's shell's fists do indeed have 5mm peg holes. I couldn't find the inner robot or the vehicle to check them, though. -- Semysane 15:53, 16 February 2010 (EST)
The list up top still has toys that need checking. But there's a tonne in Japanese Gen1 I need proper confirmation on. No. I don't think so. This article is enormous already -- and getting bigger all the time. It's dedicated to a specific KIND of peg, not to pegs in general. If we tried to integrate a general pegs article into this one it would bloat beyond all proportion.
What needs to be done is the peg article actually needs to be written properly, and made not a stub.Jhiaxus 00:43, 5 March 2010 (EST)

Pretender?
Would it be accurate to consider that Alice might be a Pretender? Doesn't seem to transform, just covers herself in a shell.
: She's not a Pretender by our definition. She's more like Optimus Primal - a robot that transforms into an organic primate. There's no shell involved at all. Mind, the powers that be may say she's a Pretender anyhow. Until then, she's just a Transformer who transforms into a human. --ItsWalky 01:39, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
::How exactly did she transform? The "skin" just seemed to fold back, revealing the robot beneath, with no actual shape-changing.KrytenKoro 09:48, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
::: I think that, if anything official calls her a 'Pretender', including semi-official things like interviews with people who would know, we could call her one. Otherwise, though, it's just another Sari Sumdac situation. Her conversion from human to robot was different enough than any prior depiction of pretenders (splitting in half or phasing out, like in the Marvel comic, or disappearing in a burst of light or puff of smoke, like in Masterforce) that we'd be taking too big a leap. --Jimsorenson 10:10, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
::::I know it probably doesn't mean much, but in this interview Orci says "there is a Pretender". -Mazenoise 10:13, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
:::::Well, as far as I'm concerned, that'd be enough. I don't know if that will be the consensus around here. --Jimsorenson 10:23, 26 June 2009 (EDT)

The film's producers do seem to intend this to be their take on the pretender concept.

For what it's worth, it looked to me like she had little 'tiles' of flesh all over her body that folded back. -Derik 10:25, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
:I agree that I think that was their intention. But that makes it a little difficult to define a Pretender in the movieverse. Pretenders typically have a shell and altmode. All Transformers pretend to be something else. What makes a Camaro different than a human? Is a Pretender simply a Transformer with a biological altmode, or a Transformer with an altmode mimicking any other life-from? - Starfield 10:40, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
:If i might add, she is alto like a terminator, in that she's a robot covered in a soft organic "alive" shell to fool humans. The only thing different is that she can "retract" it(somehow, the tip of her tongue does not). would that be worth noting?--Sunjumper 11:10, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
::Also, not every Pretender has an alt mode - see the Dinoforce. --Jimsorenson 11:12, 26 June 2009 (EDT)

:::It's possible Alice has an altmode beyond her shell, she just didn't transform.
:::I agree that Alice's "integrated shell" is unique among Pretenders... but they called her a Pretender in interviews. (Which we seriously need a cite for.) I agree she's a different type of Pretender... but we've had pretenders with pop-open shells, phase-out shells, remote-control shells, disappearing size-reducing shells, animal shells, vehicle shells, combining and transforming shells... this isn't really far out of line for that.
:::It's complicated by the original Honda/Alive-in-Wonderland plot, but that genuinely seems to have been cut from the theatrical version-- all traces were excused. So we're left with the simple fact-- she can turn into a human-- something none of the other Transformers are able to mimic, and the producers called her a Pretender in interviews.
:::She's a Pretender. -Derik 11:25, 26 June 2009 (EDT)
::::Someone who's got the exact wording needs to add a quote to this article of the "I'll pretend to be your girlfriend, you pretend to be my boyfriend" line. That's probably my favorite line from the entire movie, for being such a subtle nod. --KilMichaelMcC 16:05, 27 June 2009 (EDT)
:::::I'd definitely vote for classing her as a Pretender, albeit a Movieverse variation on the concept. After all, the Japanese-verse Masterforce Petenders didn't really have literal "shells" per se, right? They just sort of magically changed from human to robot in a weird lightshow, didn't they?114.78.235.104 09:19, 28 June 2009 (EDT)
Interesting tidbit of trivia is that in addition to some other effects in the movie, Michael Bay commissioned Digital Domain to work three months on a two second close up of Alice's face transforming.
Nevermore said..."Well, THAT is a big stretch.

"G1 Bruticus was ブルーティカス ("Burûtikasu").
The Car Robots toy is バルディガス ("Barudigasu"). Unless the person in charge of Takara's naming department at that time was severely dyslexic, that's not supposed to be the same name.
The most interesting theory I've heard was that it's a pun on both "Bruticus" and "Battle Gaia" (バトルガイアー - "Batorugaiâ")."
Same general tone/rhythm as "Bruticus", but with the syllables of "Battle Gaia"?
See:
ブ ("bu") as in ブルーティカス ("Burûtikasu") becomes バ ("ba") as in バトルガイア("Batorugaiâ").
ル ("ru") remains the same, but loses the vowel extender bar (ー), thereby changing the first two syllables from "burû" with emphasis on the second syllable (which allows for the first syllable to be slurred and thus giving way to "bru") into "baru" with emphasis on the first syllable (which allows for the second syllable to be slurred and thus giving way to "bar"/"bal"/"var"/"val").
ティ ("ti") as in ブルーティカス ("Burûtikasu") becomes ディ ("di").
カ ("ka") as in as in ブルーティカス ("Burûtikasu") becomes ガ ("ga") as in バトルガイア("Batorugaiâ").
ス ("su") remains the same.
It's just a theory, mind you, although I for one prefer it over "dyslexic in charge of Takara's naming department"."

Just to give this discussion someplace to live . . .

Given that A) Ratchet fought in the last Great War, millions of years ago, and B) the last Great War is depicted using G1 footage, a tempting fanon conclusion might be that Animated is in fact a sequel to G1, set millions of years later, and that most of the characters are new characters with the same name (like Megatron (G1) and Megatron(BW)), except for Ratchet (Animated), who is in fact the same character as Ratchet (G1).

Except that G1 was set in 1984, and Animated is not set in 1984-plus-millions-of-years. It's set around 2008. Ergo, while the last Great War that Ratchet fought in might have strongly resembled G1 in many ways, it couldn't have involved 1984 Earth, and so is radically different from G1 in that respect, at least. JW 15:56, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
:All the G1 footage was specifically from flashback episodes millions of years ago (MTMTE and War Dawn).
