the Cybertron-series Autobot

:Overhaul is an Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy. Upon recieving a new body, he took the name Leobreaker.

Overhaul is an elder Autobot warrior, having fought alongside Optimus Prime during the Unicron Battles and Powerlinx Battles, and likely before that, as well. He is gruff and oftentimes confrontational, but exceptionally loyal to the Autobot cause. He says he prefers to work alone, but knows deep down the value of friendship and teamwork.

As Leobreaker, his gung-ho attitude is heavily amplified, but he's no longer so independent-minded. He's become fast friends with Snarl of the Jungle Planet, and has even gained his own personal Mini-Con attendants. He's even taken a shining to Earth team sports like baseball, possibly as a replacement for war. This new focus on teamwork does have its downside; he harbors a litlte bit of resentment that his "Savage Claw Mode" combination with Optimus might not be as strong as the "Sonic Wing Mode" the Autobot leader can form with Wing Saber.

He is the cousin of the Decepticon Brushguard.

During a battle for the Cyber Planet Keys with the Decepticons, Optimus Prime intended to send Overhaul and Landmine to the Jungle Planet. However, an attack by the Decepticons disrupted Vector Prime's gateway portal and Overhaul was left on Jungle Planet alone. There he became embroiled in the power struggle between Snarl, Snarl's mentor Backstop, and the Jungle Planet's brutal tyrant Scourge.

He trained hard, but could not best Scourge at single combat even after building up a tolerance to his flame breath. He sought training from Backstop and Snarl, and eventually invoked the spirit of the world, finding himself transformed into the mega-feline Leobreaker.

When Scourge challenges Optimus to a match for control of the planet, they go mano a mano, just Optimus and Scourge... and Leobreaker lending Prime the phenomenal power of Savage Claw mode as his arm. Nobody mentions whether or not this is cheating.
Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into his robot mode back launches his chest-mounted missile (you can do this in car mode too, but the missile is blocked). In Japan, he came with a silver-bordered Cybertron Cyber Planet Key, but for his Hasbro release he came with a silver Jungle Planet style key, with the Key Code "s9d7" on the back. There are rumors that a later release of the Japanese version was changed to a Jungle key, but this has not been confirmed.
Trivia
* The original plans for Leobreaker involved a more coherent Savage Claw Mode arm design, complete with fingers and thumbs. But a variety of factors resulted in the simplified form, including rising petroleum prices.

* Additionally, one of the early prototypes featured a faux-SUV chest for Leobreaker, probably to link him more closely to his first body. Like the previously-listed changes, this was likely removed to lower the production cost -- or possibly it was discarded for other reasons.

* The television CGI model of Leobreaker used during the combiner sequence animation, as well as the representation of the combined arm mode is based upon a modified version of one of the original prototypes of Leobreaker, who, as mentioned above, had a much more complex and believable 'arm-mode'.

* Originally, Overhaul was going to be called Trailbreaker, in reference to the Generation 1 character of the same name. However, the trademark could not be secured for this, resulting in the name-change.

* In a related tidbit, the original naming idea was apparently to go from Trailbreaker to Leobreaker. When they couldn't get Trailbreaker, it seems Hasbro considered naming Overhaul's lion form Overcast, as that name is listed as Leobreaker's American name in the Galaxy Force Phase Ignition guidebook. However, they ultimately kept the name Leobreaker.

* The combination sequence between Galaxy Convoy and Leo Breaker is a reference to the combination of Goldymarg and GaoGaiGar in the anime The King of Braves GaoGaiGar.

:Backstop is an Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

A wise elder of Jungle Planet, Backstop sought enlightenment beyond the boundaries of his world. But when he returned, he found himself focused not on the things he learned offworld, but on the strife of his people. Thus, he attempted to teach a new generation of Transformers what he learned and the ways of peace - only to see his brightest pupil, Scourge, succumb to the evils of tyranny.

:Japanese name: Saidos

Fiction
Cybertron cartoon
:: Voice Actor: Scott McNeil ; (?) (Japanese)

Years ago, Backstop sought to teach the young warriors the ways of peace and the honorable warrior. Their planet had long since been ravaged by raiders, and thought that this new philosophy of peaceful aggression would usher in a new age for their people. His students included Scourge, Snarl, and Undermine. To the two former, he was like a father, and each of his charges saw one another as brothers.

However, their bond was torn apart when Scourge resolved to take the fight to the raiders. Backstop protested this, saying that Scourge would begin a cycle of vengeance that would only lead to more vengeance. Scourge left his master's side, and Snarl went with him, deciding to stand by his friend rather than his master.

Backstop's words would ring true, and after Scourge defeated the raiders, his honor and decency began to fade, and the dragon-bot had all of Jungle Planet in his iron-fisted grip. What had began as a fight for peace turned into a dictatorship.

Years later, Backstop encountered Overhaul, who had been weakened by the harsh environment of Jungle Planet. Surprised by the fact that Overhaul could turn into a vehicle rather than a beast (he did, however, recognize it), he would later learn that Overhaul was in fact from the Transformers' ancient world of Cybertron. Through him, Backstop became affiliated with the Autobots, and eventually told Scourge's story to Optimus Prime. Eventually, even Backstop learned that one had to fight at some point, and went to tell Scourge that Optimus would be challenging him - and at the same time, reminded Scourge that Optimus fought for the things Scourge had forgotten.

Optimus and Leobreaker defeated Scourge, and afterwards, Backstop helped the Autobots in their attempt to get Jungle Planet's Cyber Planet Key off of the planet. He would remain on his homeworld, even after Scourge left to seek vengeance on Optimus - he did, however, see the effects of the Black Hole when a space bridge appeared over his world.

Much later, Backstop would join the multi-world alliance, and would rush to help Scourge (who had learned the error of his ways) to right the massive engine that was meant to restore Jungle Planet to its rightful position in space. He then oversaw a tournament to decide the new leader of Jungle Planet, and declared Scourge the rightful and honorable ruler.

Afterwards, Backstop decided to join the crew of the Hyperborea - when it departed, he told Evac that "sometimes the path to enlightenment leads away from home."

Hasbro bio and key code info
Backstop is a Transformer who once relied on anger - until he travelled the galaxy, learning the way of the warrior from Bludgeon and Banzai-Tron. He returned, and was eventually defeated in battle by Scourge. He sought to destroy the dragon-bot, having learned the true value of life - life that Scourge does honor.

Eventually, Leobreaker taught him how to play baseball.

:Note - Hasbro's bio presents a very different image of Backstop from the one portrayed on the show. However, the information in his key-code information is more in line with the TV series, and also somewhat ties in with his comment about having seen vehicular Transformers prior in his life.

:Japanese ID number: GC-15

: Backstop transforms into a robotic rhinoceros. In either mode, inserting a Cyber Planet Key into his Key jack activates his spring-loaded ramming horn, which extends outward (but does not actually launch). He comes with a silver-bordered Jungle Planet-style Key; the Hasbro version has the Key Code "stw7" on its back.

: There are several notable differences between the Hasbro and Takara releases of Backstop. The Takara version is overall lighter, with a mainly medium-gray body, silvery beast-mode legs, plus coppery plastic and paint deco. The Hasbro version, however, uses a darker gray with a bit of purple tint for the main body, with medium-gray legs and a more yellow-gold on the accenting.

Trivia
* Backstop's Japanese name is a "coolification" of the Japanese word for "rhinoceros", "sai". Think of it as the Japanese equivalent of the name "Rhinox".

* Backstop had a normal left arm that unfolded from the back of the rhino very far into the design process, so far as to have a complete sculpt made. For reasons unknown, this was changed to the slightly less complex jai-alai-esque arm as seen on the final version.
*Quickmix (Voyager, 2006)

: Quickmix transforms into a Cybertronic (Gigantian?) cement mixer, witha drum that actually turns (on a ratcheting joint, though). The top of the mixing assembly flips up to reveal a control panel for Quickmix's pack-in Mini-Con Stripmine to stand on; pegs fold out that plug into holes in Stripmine's arms for stability.

: In robot mode, plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the Key jack on his drum splits it open and reveals his spring-loaded missile launcher. The "pipe" piece on his left arm is actually removable, and can be repositioned on his arm, or even used as a hand-held "blaster" thanks to its Powerlinx peg. He also has an alternate "work" robot mode, which basically just pushes his hips up into his torso and raises his shoulders up as well. He comes with a silver-bordered Gigantion-style Cyber Planet Key, with the Key Code "ve37" on the back.

: In Japan, Quickmix was only available through e-Hobby's online ordering service, in Hasbro packaging, in October of 2006... ten months after Galaxy Force stopped in Japan.

Trivia
* Quickmix's "work mode" is only seen in the Cybertron cartoon as a "halfway" point in his vehicle-to-robot stock footage transformation sequence. Unlike those of Metroplex and Menasor, Quickmix's work mode was also omitted from the instructions of his American release. Closer inspection would reveal to only the maddest fanboy that Quickmix seems to alternate between his work and regular modes at random in specific scenes.

* According to the color guide unlocked by his Cyber Planet Key, Quickmix's working title was "Mix Master".

the Cybertron-series Autobot

: Overhaul transforms into an off-road vehicle similar to a Humvee.

* The combination sequence between Galaxy Convoy and Leo Breaker is a reference to the combination of Goldymarg and GaoGaiGar in the anime The King of Braves GaoGaiGar.

nav-cybertron
Overview
Autobots and Decepticons face their ongoing battle to destroy each
other's forces in a world where once-fundamental rules are valid no
longer. The do not feud over Energon; now they fight to recover four
ancient artifacts of great power: the Cyber Planet Keys, dormant
for ages on Earth, Speed, Jungle, and Giant Planets. Unicron is no
more; in his place, sheer empty Void without will or being, in the
form of a massive black hole, threatens to devour the entire universe.
The conflict, too, draws many to itself, as whole worlds of previously
unknown neutrals join forces with either side. Even time proves no
barrier, and figures from the forgotten past appear to join the fight
against universal extinction!

Toyline overview
There are six planets, two factions, and one unifying feature: the
cyber key. These clear-plastic disks with key-like projections now
activate special weapons and hidden features, much like the Minicons
of Armada, even on most figures remolded from previous lines. Redecos, like the Cybertron release of Armadas Super-Con Optimus Prime, come with remolded keys that have a mini-con connector to unlock gimmicks. The gimmicks
are less intrusive than Armada; articulation suffers far less for their
inclusion, though some lower-priced figures do lack a little when
compared to Energon. Combination has largely disappeared -- but not
completely. Each toy is assigned a planet. This determines which
Cyber Key is included, but also seems to correlate with some design
choices, as will be seen below. Each Cyber Key comes with a code printed on the back. For a list of codes, go to Cyber Key Codes. In general, the more alien the planet's culture is to our Earthen existence, the more unfamiliar its figure designs are.

Earth Planet toy overview
These generally convert into fairly normal Earth vehicles. Robot
modes are angular and normally proportioned for humanoid Transformers.
Faces are traditionally styled.

Speed Planet toy overview
Alternate modes are fantasy racing vehicles, with transparent plastic tires. Vehicle modes are futuristic and occasionally Vehicon-like in appearance. The Speed Planet robots have their own unique body proportions, generally featuring large upper bodies, long thighs and thin waists.

Jungle Planet toy overview
Jungle Planet alternate modes are robotic beasts. Their styling is sometimes very organic in shape and even in texture, but not really to the point of techno-
organism. Robot modes and faces are widely varied, and hark back to
the Beast Era in creative differences from the "standard" humanoid
model. Jungle Planet designs : Beast Wars Transmetals or Beast Machines Maximals (sharing something of the "liquid metal animal" aesthetic), per the above analogy.

Giant Planet toy overview
Giant Planet robots are gargantuan in appearance, relying on detail
and proportion to create an impression of massive size. The Giant Planet toys are roughly in scale with the Legends of Cybertron figures. Of the Giant Planet toys released, two (Metroplex and Menasor) are almost completely alien in appearance, while Quickmix and the Giant Planet Mini-Con Team are fairly "normal", like everyday Earth vehicles.

Planet X toy overview
Alternate modes are usually futuristic jets, with the exception being Unicron (who is a futuristic tank). It's somewhat difficult to draw conclusions when only three toys from this planet were released. In general, these are alien in appearance, even more so than the Speed or Giant Planet toys.

Cybertron Planet toy overview
Cybertron Planet toys are the "everything else" category. There are two distinct Planet Keys for Cybertron: one with an Autobot symbol and the other with a Decepticon insignia. Toys with Cybertron Planet Keys range from normal to futuristic. This category usually represents characters who are either part of the "original" Autobot and Decepticon teams searching for the Planet Keys, or those who never left or have an affinity for Cybertron (such as Buzzsaw or Longrack). The unique keys carried by Optimus and Megatron arguably belong in this category, despite being labeled as Earth Planet in their original releases (or Giant and Universal with their respective redecos).

In general, these are as alien in appearance, even more so than the Speed or Giant Planet toys.

The unique keys carried by Optimus and Megatron arguably belong in this category, despite being labeled as Earth Planet in their original releases (or Giant and Universal with their respective redecos).
and proportion to create an impression of massive size.

In general, these are as alien in appearance, even more so than the Speed or Giant Planet toys.

In general, these are as alien in appearance, even more so than the Speed or Giant Planet toys.
