Longarm joined the Cybertronian service to become an intelligence officer. When Bumblebee began to suspect that his other classmate [[Wasp]] was a [[Decepticon]] spy, he took his concerns to Longarm. Supportive of the little yellow recruit's suspicions, he encouraged Bumblebee, but warned him that if he went directly to [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Minor]], their drill sergeant would just take all the credit. Rather, if Bumblebee gathered the evidence himself he'd be on the fast track to the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]]. Unfortunately, all of Bumblebee's efforts only get him in worse trouble, and his fellow recruits begin to bully him, with Longarm being the only one to stick up for him. Finally Longarm finds out that Sentinel is about to conduct a surprise inspection, and informs Bumblebee that he'd best find his evidence before Sentinel does. Longarm distracted Wasp with one of his extending limbs, giving Bumblebee the opportunity he needs. The boot camp screwup showed Sentinel minor shows that there was a Decepticon communicator in Wasp's footlocker. Longarm assured Bumblebee he was a shoe-in for the Elite Guard.

Years later Longarm is still in the service, having been promoted to the rank of [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] and head of Cybertron Intelligence. His old buddy Bumblebee tells him about the danger of a potential Autobot traitor, a matter which Longarm Prime promises to see to personally. {{storylink|Autoboot Camp}}
