:''Sideswipe is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Revenge of the Fallen (franchise)|Revenge of the Fallen]] portion of the [[Live-action film series|live-action film]] [[continuity family]].''

'''Sideswipe''' is true to his function of Warrior. Though proficient with guns, he prefers melee combat to ranged weapons, and will employ any maneuver it takes to get close enough to the enemy to use his arm-mounted [[Cybertanium]] swords. His agile, wheel-legged form more than allows for this. His tactics are merciless and he's utterly unapologetic about this—war, after all, is ''messy''.

Oh, and he's also not vain at ''all'': those alt modes of his are chosen for speed only. It's a ''total coincidence'' that the fastest one just ''happens'' to be a sleek, sexy, concept model that's better than ''your'' car, honest! <ref>[[Revenge of the Fallen: The Movie Universe|Transformers: The Movie Universe]]</ref>
When Sideswipe joined the Autobots he trained under the veteran warrior [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], learning the arts of war. After his training was complete, he went on to become the protector of a settlement of displaced Autobots. This settlement was found by the pitiless [[Demolishor (ROTF)|Demolishor]], who slaughtered them nearly to a bot. Sideswipe was ashamed, not only over having failed to protect his charges, but also because he had lived to tell the tale.{{storylink|Tales of the Fallen issue 2}}

After [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]'s Autobots left [[Mission City]], they left a homing beacon in a junk yard near the metropolis to attract any Autobots who might have heard Prime's rallying call to [[Earth]]. {{Storylink|Alliance issue 3}} Sideswipe was among those few that answered the beacon and had hidden themselves in the junk yard. Once discovered, they were brought to [[Diego Garcia]] to train with the other Autobots and [[William Lennox|Major Lennox]]'s soldiers in defense of their new home. {{Storylink|Alliance issue 4}} However, Sideswipe proved a loose cannon as he continued his vendetta against Demolishor when the Decepticon turned up in [[Montevideo]], [[Uruguay]]. Showing little regard for humans in pursuing his quarry, Sideswipe's actions prompted Ironhide to arrive on the scene to rein him in. The younger Autobot was openly insubordinate towards Ironhide, warning him not to get in the way. Ultimately all the old veteran could do was to serve as damage control during Sideswipe's singleminded pursuit. Ultimately more reinforcements from [[NEST]] arrived, and Demolishor fled the scene. In the aftermath, Sideswipe saw the fear and mistrust the humans regarded him with because of his violent actions. Understanding this, he was forced to admit that Ironhide's admonishment of him was correct. {{storylink|Tales of the Fallen issue 2}}

Sideswipe didn't have long to wait for another shot at his nemesis. Soon enough, Demolishor had been sighted in [[Shanghai]], [[China]]. {{Storylink|Alliance issue 4}}
[[Image:Titan4_Sideswipe.jpg|right|thumb|250px|"Look, you guys are the Jar Jar Binks of this franchise. There's ''always'' room for improvement."]]

Unlike most Autobots, Sideswipe—part of a younger generation built during wartime—was made to fight. He was born during the war and with full knowledge of the Cybertronian battlefield, designed solely for killing. He's master of the quick-change transformation! {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Sideswipe's profile}}

Sideswipe served as a combat instructor at NEST's Scottish base, and had to put [[Skids (ROTF)|Skids]] and [[Mudflap (ROTF)|Mudflap]] back through basic training—something he was fed up of. As far as he was concerned, they should've been put on charge for causing [[Grindor (ROTF)|Grindor]] to escape and he should have better things to do. He dealt with this by putting the twins through simulated combat after simulated combat, finally cracking it up to maximum setting, before [[Ravage (ROTF)|someone knocked him out]].

When he came to, the twins were babbling about how a mysterious and long-vanished Decepticon working for [[Soundwave (ROTF)|another mysterious Decepticon]] had done it and tried to kill them! Sideswipe was having none of it, viewing this as implausible and believing the twins knocked him out in revenge for training and were covering themselves. Between this and Grindor, he was becoming suspicious of them... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.4|New Tricks}}

Following the training, poor Sideswipe took them to [[Diego Garcia]] and continued to be pestered by them for a meeting with Prime. Not trusting them and ignoring their babble about some "[[the Fallen|dude]]", he tried to discourage them, only for the two to sneak off behind his back. Sighing, he went in pursuit... and saw them distract Prime before a [[Scorponok (Movie)|Decepticon attacked]],
Skids tripped over Prime before he could take charge, and Mudflap handed a weapon to [[Sideways (ROTF)|an escaping prisoner]]! When Optimus remarked that someone must've compromised security, Sideswipe fingered the twins: their actions clearly showed they were turncoats! {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.5|Reversal of Fortune}}

Sideswipe would be part of the team tracking down the twins {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.5|Outlaw Blues}}, and would later be surprised when they were tracked down to [[North Carolina]]... and were ''fighting'' two Decepticons? Why, if he didn't know better, he'd think they were fighting the two 'cons they'd helped! {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.7|Turnabout}}

After the Autobots tracked the twins to the Decepticon's base, it became clear they ''weren't'' traitors after all and ''had'' been framed. Did Sideswipe apologise? Hell no, he instead had a scary amount of fun slaughtering [[Purple generic drones|drones]] and had to be told off by Ironhide for excessive bloodlust. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.8|Back-to-Back}}

[[Image:Titan11_cleaningupHoist.jpg|left|300px|thumb|]]

Later, after [[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|the twins turned out to have told the truth about this "Fallen" guy]], Sideswipe was with Ironhide cleaning up the remaining Decepticons on Earth, (rather worryingly) including ''[[Hoist (Movie)|Hoist!]].'' {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.11|Spare Parts!}}

Sideswipe was one of the Autobots sent to [[Shanghai]] when Decepticon energy signatures were detected, but he was initially held in reserve. As [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]] managed to flee from [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]] and [[Skids (ROTF)|the]] [[Mudflap (ROTF)|Twins]] in vehicle mode, [[William Lennox|Major Lennox]] ordered Sideswipe deployed. Sideswipe immediately sped in and quickly changed to robot mode. Catching up with Sideways by dexterously skating on his wheel-feet, Sideswipe somersaulted over the Decepticon, threw his right blade in the Decepticon's hood, and then dragged the blade in the opposite direction, tearing Sideways apart. Sideswipe took a moment to reflect on the success of his kill.

Afterwards, he returned with the other Autobots to [[NEST]]'s base in Diego Garcia, where he witnessed Director [[Theodore Galloway]] air the [[Barack Obama|President's]] concerns over the recent spate of Decepticon activity, and how the Autobots remaining on Earth might be the cause of it.

After the [[AllSpark (Movie)|All Spark shard]] was stolen by [[Ravage (ROTF)|Ravage]] from NEST's secured bunker and Decepticons were detected heading towards [[Sam Witwicky]] at [[Princeton University]], Sideswipe and the other Autobots were deployed to intercept, but arrived too late: [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] had died protecting the human boy from the resurrected [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] and [[Grindor (ROTF)|Grindor]].

[[Image:ROTF Sideswipe in Egypt.jpg|thumb|right|300px|The "Where's Sideswipe?" series of books never really caught on.]]
The Autobots and NEST arrived at a [[United States of America|United States]] air base to discover that they were no longer welcome, following renewed Decepticon aggression after Prime's death, and that they were ordered to return to Diego Garcia. The emotionally overwhelmed Autobots nearly came to blows with their former allies but finally agreed to stand down and remain on Earth. When Major Lennox learned Witwicky had come up with a way to possibly resurrect Optimus Prime, NEST travelled to [[Egypt]] instead. Sideswipe, who had been covered in a cargo net while being transported in vehicle mode, relished the chance to cut through his bonds when deployed from the air. He fought off many Decepticons during [[Operation: Firestorm]], and bore witness to Sam resurrecting Optimus Prime with the [[Matrix of Leadership]], and the death of [[The Fallen]]. {{storylink|Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen}}
Before the war, Sideswipe was a major competitor in the [[gladiatorial combat|gladiatorial games]]. Years of training made him a master at fencing, something he viewed as an art to be celebrated through battle. When war broke out, he was sickened by the Decepticon's slaughter and vowed to use his fencing skills to defend the innocent. {{storylink|#Robot Replicas|Robot Replica Sideswipe}} Before he enlisted with the Autobots, Sideswipe traveled the galaxy in search of the most proficient warriors and devastating martial arts he could find, leading to him becoming an Autobot combat instructor.<ref>[http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/Battle-Bios.cfm Hasbro Sideswipe Battle Bio]</ref>
Tracking Megatron to a disused factory with Optimus, Sideswipe complained about the dust until Optimus told him to be quiet. Optimus's scans turned up nothing, but Megatron soon revealed himself, batting Sideswipe aside. The young Autobot quickly recovered and joined Megatron in sword combat, even stabbing the Decepticon leader in the foot mid-sentence. Megatron subsequently brought the roof down on the two Autobots and escaped, though neither Autobot was harmed. {{storylink|Cyber Missions 4}}

Later, Sideswipe was pursuing [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]] and [[Frenzy (Movie)|Frenzy]] in [[Scramble City (city)|Scramble City]], and took a turn to let the Decepticons think they had lost him, in truth following them to the facility they were heading for. After crumpling Frenzy into a ball and batting him back at Barricade, Sideswipe engaged the larger Decepticon, but was stopped with fire suppression equipment that froze him to the databanks. As the Decepticons were able to escape, Sideswipe broke free and learned that they had stolen NEST's defense deactivation codes. {{storylink|Cyber Missions 6}}

Soon after, he was able to discover a wounded Ratchet back in [[Mission City]] and took him back to [[Diego Garcia]] to be repaired. While Ratchet was getting fixed up, Sideswipe traded in his shattered blades for new blasters. While they did that, [[Lockdown (ROTF)|Lockdown]] arrived and threatened Sideswipe during target practice. Apparently, he had enough- he was able to shoot the [[EMP]] blaster off of Lockdown's wrist and back to Ratchet, who was fully operational. Lockdown, now without a blaster weapon, pushed Sideswipe aside and fled, much to Sideswipe's dismay, but Ratchet assured him that he was headed straight for the medical bay. There, he saw an out-cold Lockdown laying on an operating table, all the while stating he couldn't look. {{storylink|Cyber Missions 7}}

Sideswipe and Ratchet were transporting some energon to a secure location when they were attacked by [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] and [[Mindwipe (ROTF)|Mindwipe]]. Mindwipe assaulted them with his hypnotic powers, but at Ratchet's suggestion, Sideswipe used his satellite radio to play some loud music, breaking Mindwipe's concentration. The Autobot turned on Starscream, yelling at Ratchet to secure the energon, but as Ratchet pointed out, Starscream was a bit more formidable than Sideswipe had counted on. As Starscream was on the verge of dismantling Sideswipe, Ratchet threw the energon trailer from the nearest cliff, and Starscream broke off his attack. In the aftermath, Ratchet and Sideswipe went to find somewhere safe to hide from the enraged Decepticon. {{storylink|Cyber Missions 10}}
In this mode, he sits so low that it's difficult to roll him without scraping his undercarriage, unless you perform some careful shaping after transforming him. Sideswipe's [[Mech Alive]] gimmick is in his knees—bending his legs causes the blue armor plates on his knees to extend. He does have wheels in his feet like his character model, but the toy's feet have been designed in such a way that it can stand alone. Rounding out his robot-mode awesomeness, his hips have an "invisible joint" and moving pistons, while his "blades" are geared to spin out in unison. *'''Sideswipe / Tech. Sergeant Epps''' (Human Alliance, 2009)
**''Japanese ID number:'' '''RA-22'''
**''Accessories:''

:Like all [[Human Alliance]] figures, Sideswipe is designed to allow his accompanying human figure, in this case [[Robert Epps]], to ride inside.

:While in many ways simply a larger version of the Deluxe toy, it has several changes. The wheeled feet may now fold out into a stand system, allowing Sideswipe to stand without having to balance on the wheels, or be left as is to retain a more rounded look, and his blades are now rubberized to prevent injury. The sword-hands can also be slotted into a gear system connected to the front wheels, which causes them to spin as the wheels are turned. Like the Deluxe figure, the HA Sideswipe is something of a [[shellformer]] and suffers from an excessive amount of kibble, as nearly the entire top of the vehicle mode is folded up into a backpack, with only the rear bumper being incorporated as Sideswipe's chest. The passenger's seat may either be used as a seat for Epps, or turned into a missile launcher slung over Sideswipe's left shoulder.

:A great deal goes unmentioned in the instructions: in addition to the seats behind Sideswipe's shoulders, there are pegs on both forearms that a Human Alliance human figure can stand on or have plugged into their back, but neither are accomplished very well; the pegs also interfere with free rolling in vehicle mode, scraping on the ground. There is a fold-out handle under the swiveling rear window section, which seems to serve no purpose; it's possible to fold this section over Sideswipe's head (and, by extension, any human figure sitting behind his shoulder), but the handle doesn't line up with anything. There are also small tabs that fold out of Sideswipe's waist to make him more movie-accurate. Finally, Sideswipe has a battle mask; or rather, his normal head '''is''' his battle mask. A thin sliver in the middle of his face flips back to reveal his "real" face. It looks...odd. It's probably best to leave the thing down and never speak of this feature.

====Fast Action Battlers====
[[Image:Sideswipe ROTF FAB toy.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Has anyone seen my proportions?]]
*'''Battle Blade Sideswipe''' (Fast Action Battler, 2009)
: This roughly Deluxe-sized version of Sideswipe is a kid-friendly version with a simpler transformation, transforming from a Corvette Stingray car to a simplified version of his robot mode presented in the ''Revenge of the Fallen'' movie. His main [[gimmick]] is his spring-loaded arm-blades which automatically swing down when pulled upward.

: This [[redeco]] of Battle Blade Sideswipe colors his car mode dark gray and light green. His robot-mode bits remain silver.

{{-}}

====Battle Chargers====
[[Image:ROTFSideswipe BattleChargers 2009.jpg|right|300px|thumb|He secretly envies the original [[Battlecharger]]s for having better feet.]]
*'''Sideswipe''' (Battle Charger, 2009)

:Part of the [[Robot Powered Machines]] subline, Battle Charger Sideswipe is a cutesified Corvette Stingray with a [[pull-back motor]]. When pulled back and let go, his roof flips open and his robot mode pops out.

{{-}}

*'''Hyper Speed Sideswipe''' (Battle Charger, 2009)

====Gravity Bots====
[[Image:ROTF-toy SideswipeGravity.jpg|thumb|right|300px|Before he joined the army, Sideswipe was picked on a lot for his "mass problem".]]
*'''Sideswipe''' (Gravity Bot, 2009)

: Part of the second wave of [[Gravity Bot]]s, Sideswipe uses gravity-activated [[autotransformation]] to turn into a [[super deformed]] Corvette Stingray when laid on his back. When the car is stood back up, it transforms back into its boxy robot mode.

: The toy features no [[articulation]] whatsoever, but that doesn't matter because he's awesome.

{{-}}{{anchor|GravityNitro}}
*'''Nitro Sideswipe''' (Gravity Bot, 2010)

: A [[redeco]] of regular Gravity Bot Sideswipe, Nitro Sideswipe features maroon windows and black stripes and wheels, very similar to the [[size class|Deluxe Class]] [[#StrikeMission|"Strike Mission" Sideswipe toy]]. He of course retains the same awesome play feature.

{{-}}

====Robot Replicas====
[[Image:ROTF-toy_RobotReplicas_Sideswipe.jpg|thumb|right|200px|I haven't sliced anyone up in awhile, I gots the Blue Blades!]]
*'''Sideswipe''' (Robot Replicas, 2009)
:Robot Replicas Sideswipe is a non- transforming, but highly detailed and articulated interpretation of his robot mode from the movie. He features highly posable legs, arms, feet, head, waist, neck and shoulders, making him both an awesome kid's toy and display piece.
:Funnily enough, despite the Robot Replica promise of total movie-accuracy, his arm-blades are [[For safety reasons|considerably shortened]] and are a weird metallic blue colour, rather than the silver/gray you might expect.

{{-}}

====Power Bots====
[[Image:ROTF-toy_PowerBots_Sideswipe.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Crikey!]]
*'''Sideswipe''' (Power Bots, 2009)

: [[Power Bots]] Sideswipe is a bulky, non-transforming toy for younger children. He features limited articulation in his limbs and head, two very blunt swords, and various playing sound clips and flashing lights. He has an North Americanised [[Australia]]n accent!

{{-}}

===Transformers (2010)===
====Deluxe Class toys====
[[Image:SidearmSideswipeToy2010.jpg|thumb|300px|]]
*'''Sidearm Sideswipe''' (Deluxe, 2010)
**''Japanese ID number:'' '''AA-06'''
**''Accessories:'' twin pistols

:This new sculpt of Sideswipe is designed for greater robot mode accuracy compared to his original Deluxe class mold, and replaces his swords with twin hand-held pistols (which were briefly used during the Egypt battle in ''Revenge of the Fallen''). Additionally, the guns can be attached to flip-up panels in vehicle mode. Sideswipe has toe and heel spurs so that he can balance on a flat surface without falling over, a problem that the previous Deluxe Sideswipe suffered.

:Hasbro added a red deco design to the front of the car and red windows in an effort to differentiate him from the previous Sideswipe mold. The Japanese [[TakaraTomy]] release of Sidearm Sideswipe drops the red vehicle mode decos in favour of keeping the silver paint on his wheels, which Hasbro dropped due to budgetry reasons.

:In an odd move, his [[light-piping|light plastic]] is sculpted out of the same red plastic as his windows, but his eyes are blue. Odder still, Hasbro's [[stock photography|stock photos]] show him with one red and one blue eye.

:This [[Target]]-exclusive bundle includes redecos of ''Revenge of the Fallen'' Deluxe-class Sideswipe and a [[Movie (toyline)|''Transformers'' (2007)]] Deluxe-class [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]].
:''Shadow Blade Sideswipe'' is a repaint/redeco of the first Human Alliance Sideswipe, but now his human partner is a new mold of Mikaela Banes. It has a slight resemblance to FAB Night Blades Sideswipe.
:''[[Robot Powered Machines]]'' Sideswipe is a small, non-transforming car with his robot mode sculpted underneath. Said robot mode has his swords colored red, for some reason. The car's wheels feature through-axle construction for speedy racing on flat surfaces.

:Although a stolen [[prototype]] that surfaced in 2008<ref name="rpmproto">[http://jalopnik.com/5047177/leaked-transformers-corvette-centennial-concept-toy-possibly-reveals-robot-mode Mirrored photos of early R.P.M. Unfortunately, Mattel was able to secure exclusive rights for releasing a Concept Stingray model car at a 1:64 scale for their ''Hot Wheels'' line (the toy was released as part of the "2010 New Models" lineup).
* On June 11, 2008, blurry camera phone photos from the set of ''[[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen]]'' offered the first look at Sideswipe's vehicle mode, which was believed to be a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette XR1 at that time.<ref name="fairmont">[http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/06/new-concept-car-at-fairmont-park-base.html Blurry set photos from Fairmont Park]</ref> Ten days later, leaked photos offered a better look at the car being painted by Saleen, which was now revealed to be a never-seen-before Corvette model.<ref name="corvettesaleen">[http://jalopnik.com/396734/transformers-corvette-concept-z28-bumblebee-get-a-close+up Photo of the Corvette being painted by Saleen at Jalopnik]</ref> On August 7, 2008, Jalopnik claimed having received information that the car was a so-called "Corvette Centennial Concept".<ref name"centennial">[http://jalopnik.com/5034285/exclusive-the-transformers-mystery-car-is-the-corvette-centennial-design-concept Jalopnik's story on the "Corvette Centennial Concept"]</ref> [[General Motors]] finally admitted the car's existence at the Chicago Auto Show in February of 2009, now confirming that it was, in fact, a new Corvette Stingray concept.

* Thanks to that whole [[General Motors]] bankruptcy thing, Sideswipe may be the closest we'll ever get to seeing a ''real'' Stingray.

* Rumored names for Sideswipe in the early days of the movie shooting were "Hot Rod"<ref name="upclose">[http://jalopnik.com/398892/up+close-photos-of-mystery-corvette-concept-from-new-transformers-movie More shots of the Corvette at Jalopnik], July 2009</ref> (which might have been a case of fans simply suggesting a random name and other fans subsequently treating it as gospel) and "Stinger". The latter originated with a (real) call sheet leaked in June 2008, which suggests that "Stinger" was an actual working name.<ref name="bethcall">[http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/06/bethlehem-call-sheet-cast-tf-and-next.html Leaked call sheet at the Transformers Live Action Movie Blog], July 2008</ref>

* Sideswipe was announced as a new downloadable character for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Revenge of the Fallen, alongside [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]]. He is the only downloadable character with a G1 homage skin, which makes him twice as awesome.

* Sideswipe's Cybertronian mode was revealed in [[Tales of the Fallen]], as well as the fact he arrived on Earth in November 2008.

* According to [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]] in Law and Disorder, he has a relative called [[Sunstreaker (ROTF)|Sunstreaker]]. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.13|#13's Law and Disorder}}
*'''Mickey Mouse Trailer''' (2009)

: The first mold in the [[TakaraTomy]]-[[exclusive]] "[[Disney Label]]" series, Mickey Mouse's vehicle transforms from a cartoony tractor-trailer truck to a Mickey-like robot resembling [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. Mickey appears as a driver with an orange worker's cap on (in the right side of the cab, what with this being a Japanese toy), but disappears when then grill is flipped upward during transformation. Mickey re-appears dressed in a battle suit on a flip-around panel on the robot mode's head when the backpack is brought down into its final position. Pushing down on the robot's upper body causes the robot arms to flap up and down, simulating giddy excitement. (No, really.) The robot's clear-plastic visor can be raised and lowered over its optics. It's about the mass of a deluxe, albeit much shorter and squatter in vehicle mode, but due to it's cartoonish nature, it ends up being about the size of a scout in robot mode.

: So far, this mold has only been made available in Japan and Australia.

: This grayscale [[redeco]] of the Mickey Mouse Trailer toy is decoed to resemble Mickey's design in the earliest Disney cartoons. Mickey himself provides the only splashes of color on the toy, with his face keeping its peach color, while his clothes go grayscale.
*'''Mickey Mouse Trailer Halloween Version''' (2009)

: [[Halloween]] Mickey Mouse is a redeco done up in orange and black, and was an [[exclusive]] to 7-11 stores in Japan. The robot mode features a variety of Halloween-themed [[paint application]]s, such as a jack-o-lantern face and skulls on its torso and spider webs on the trailer [[kibble]]. The little Mickey figure now has a blue face and red eyes.
==Synopsis==
[[Image:Broadsidecrushesdevastator.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Die, Atlas!]]

The [[Decepticon]]s are building engines into the side of a comet in order to alter its course and crash it on top of [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]. As they fire up the engines, a group of [[Autobot]]s close in, led there by [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]. The Autobots attack, much to [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]'s dismay. The [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] form [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]], who is promptly flattened when [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] drops on him in ship mode. In the ensuing battle, the engines are destroyed, and the comet is sent hurtling towards a small planet, which Perceptor reports is inhabited.

The Autobots attempt unsuccessfully to stop the comet before Galvatron again orders his men to engage their foe. While Galvatron and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] are grappling, waves of sound energy destroy the comet and cause both groups of Transformers to plummet to the planet's surface. In a nearby city, three aliens are having a disagreement. One of them, [[Allegra]], storms out, saying that she's going to her retreat.

The Transformers recover from their crash, wondering what hit them. [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]] describes it as the most perfect harmony ever, but Galvatron is more interested in its destructive power. Broadside breaks up the discussion by punching Galvatron, and the fight resumes. As the Constructicons form Devastator again, Perceptor blows the giant apart with one shot from his cannon. Galvatron and Soundwave depart in search of the source of the harmony they heard earlier, but Ultra Magnus spots them leaving and takes Broadside and [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] in pursuit. Perceptor reflects that unless the trio are swift, there might not be much of them left.

[[Image:Carnage CMinor Blaster Magnus Basso.jpg|right|200px|thumb|"I now pronounce you bot and wife. You may kiss the bride."]]

Broadside swiftly passes the two Decepticons and overflies the city, which Blaster realises is laid out like a musical harmony. Magnus and Blaster meet with [[Basso Profundo]], leader of the planet [[Eurythma]], but Basso refuses to help them, believing that the harmony is all his people need to protect themselves. He drops a hint that Allegra might be able to help them, a fact overheard by Galvatron and Soundwave, who are spying outside. As the three Autobots go in search of Allegra, the Decepticons drop a bridge on them. To make sure, Galvatron blasts the wreckage, and the pair fly off to find Allegra.

Basso watches the two Decepticons leave, and fellow [[Eurythman]] [[Zebop Skandana]] uses a harmony to help the Autobots out of the rubble. Blaster realises that the Zebop was creating part of the harmony which originally blew the Autobots out of space, and Zebop says he's sympathetic to their cause and will help them find Allegra.

[[Image:Carnage CMinor Galvatron Soundwave Allegra.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Galvatron loved going to the opera. He always showed his appreciation by blowing the theater to kingdom come afterwards.]]

The two Decepticons meet Allegra, offering to help her overthrow Basso in return for the secret of the harmony. She obliges and Soundwave records it, but to Galvatron's rage, it turns out that she is only one part of the harmony; Basso and Zebop make up the other two thirds. Still, when the Autobots arrive with Zebop, Soundwave is testing the part of the harmony he has by destroying a rock. The Autobots set up an ambush, but Zebop is so distressed by the fact that Allegra is working with the Decepticons that he gives away their position. Galvatron starts firing, and Zebop takes refuge in Ultra Magnus's cab. Soundwave begins battering the Autobots with the harmony. When Zebop counters with ''his'' part of the harmony, Soundwave promptly records it and uses the resulting two-thirds of the harmony to devastating effect.

[[Image:Carnage CMinor Allegra Zebop.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Alas, poor Zebop. We knew him we- Wait. No, we don't.]]

With the Autobots apparently gone, Galvatron terminates the alliance with Allegra. She attempts to attack them with her part of the harmony, but Soundwave retaliates, knocking her out. The Autobots climb out of their hole in time to prevent Galvatron from terminating the Eurythman, but during the resulting fight, Blaster and Soundwave struggle and accidentally fall on Zebop. Galvatron grabs his minion and departs, leaving Allegra cradling Zebop in her arms. Though the Autobots believe he's had it, Allegra uses a harmony to revive him. The Autobots leave for the city.

Back at the landing site, the rest of the Autobots and Decepticons are still fighting. Hot Spot voices his hope that Magnus, Blaster and Broadside hurry. The Eurythmans have spotted the battle, and Basso uses an amplifier to direct a destructive harmony at it. [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] is forced to disassemble, but the two factions fight on. Basso is depressed, and his aide points out he needs Allegra and Zebop to complete the harmony. Arriving, Soundwave begins playing two-thirds of the harmony, shaking the city and provoking Basso into using the third part again, which Soundwave promptly records. He is subsequently able to use the complete harmonic weapon to attack the city. Pleased, Galvatron announces their next targets are Metroplex and then [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]].

[[Image:Carnage CMinor Soundwave harmony.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Soundwave finds himself too big to fly through the rings in the Training Stage.]]

Ultra Magnus's party arrives back at the city to find it devastated and their fellow Autobots badly damaged. The Eurythmans are able to repair Perceptor and the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] with a harmony, and the Autobots set off for Earth.

Galvatron and Soundwave attack Metroplex with the harmony, but the Autobots soon arrive with the three Eurythmans, who nullify Soundwave's weapon with anti-sound. Blaster grabs Soundwave and uses his buttons to erase the harmony from Soundwave's tapes. Despite Galvatron raging that he hasn't ordered a retreat, the Decepticons flee anyway. The Autobots return the Eurythmans to their world, where Ultra Magnus tells them they need to learn to live in harmony.
"What was that?!"<br>
"That was heaven. The purest, most vibrant, most perfect harmony I've ever heard."

"You! Because of you, I got blasted out of space. DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THAT DID TO MY PAINT JOB?!"
:—'''Broadside''', right before he sucker-punches Galvatron

"Broadside! Blaster! Galvatron and Soundwave went to find the weapon that knocked us out of space!"<br>
"Weapon? That was no weapon. That was harmonic bliss! A musical kiss!"<br>
"Whatever."
:—'''Ultra Magnus''', who doesn't have any soul, and '''Blaster''', who does.

"Blaster, you picking up anything?"<br>
"Yeah, yeah! Beauty like you wouldn't believe, Broadside. Sweet soul music. It's their art, their commerce, their philosophy, their whole—uh-oh, bummer. Galvatron and Soundwave are here."
:—'''Broadside''' and '''Blaster''' get their vibes harshed.

"I don't wanna see your ugly face, just the button that says 'ERASE'!"<br>
"My tapes! You've erased my tapes!"
:—'''Blaster''' destroys '''Soundwave'''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s tapes, to the Decepticon's monotoned horror.

==Notes==
===Animation or technical glitches===
"Carnage in C-Minor" is infamous among the fandom for the sheer number of animation errors in this episode. Among the more prominent are the following:

* Throughout the entire episode, Broadside is drawn with a previously [[:Image:BroadsideCarnage.jpg|discarded]] [[character model]].

* Devastator is the exact same size as Soundwave during the start of the first battle.

* Devastator also appears before he forms later in the battle.

* While the Autobots are shooting at the meteor, they are so badly drawn that they appear to have only one leg each, left arms starting from the elbows, and enormous heads...and Superion is tiny.

*When Bonecrusher orders the formation of Devastator, he's wearing an Autobot insignia. See also the continuity error below.

* When the Constructicons form Devastator for the second time, the first shot shows four Constructicons forming the legs and the torso. The second shot shows three robots forming the arms and upper torso. This means that [[Devastator (ROTF)|''seven'' Constructicons formed Devastator.]]

* After watching Galvatron and Soundwave leave, Ultra Magnus dispatches Hook and Scrapper—by [[Bumblebee (Movie)| picking them up in his hands and bashing them together]]. Magnus is supposed to be big, but not ''that'' big.

* Blaster, Ultra Magnus and Zebop are shown hanging onto Broadside while he flies around. Sometimes, the shots make them appear tiny or not to be hanging onto Broadside at all. (One wonders why Zebop doesn't just ride in Broadside's cockpit, as he does for the trip to Earth.)

* Soundwave points out that Zebop is standing in the distance, while Galvatron says that "he ''probably'' is with the Autobots." Yet, Ultra Magnus is standing right next to him.

* Soundwave has a [[Shattered Glass (franchise)|purple Autobot]] [[insignia]]...''[[More than Meets the Eye, Part 3|again]]''. So does Broadside...

* Blaster is drawn delivering Broadside's line about "scorch-marks on top of everything else".

* During part of the battle at Allegra's retreat, Hot Spot is with the Autobots instead of Broadside.

* When Blaster explains that the Eurythmans use the harmony even for healing, Ultra Magnus is the one mouthing the words.

* When the Protectobots are combined as Defensor, Hot Spot (the main body) is fighting alongside his combined self!

* In one scene, a cel-layering error causes Blaster to appear very tiny compared to Soundwave.

* And there's even more. Seriously, how much time do you have?

<center><gallery>
Image:Carnage C-minor Magnus Broadside.JPG|[[Wikipedia:Monty Python's Life of Brian|"Hail Caesar!"<br />"Hail Thaethar."]]
Image:Bigmagnus tinyconst.jpg|We'll take revenge by merging into Devastator.
Image:Hotspot defensor.jpg|Hey! Part of me, get back in me!
Image:CarnageMiniBlaster.jpg|It's his little shoulder-angel.
</gallery></center>

===Continuity errors===
[[Image:DeceptiBrawn1.jpg|right|125px|thumb|Maybe it's not Bonecrusher, but a rare cameo by Roadhauler?]]
* In one infamous scene, [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]] and [[Huffer (G1)|Huffer]] (who should also be dead) show up alive and well. And it seems [[Bonecrusher (G1)|Bonecrusher]] has switched sides, as he's helping them shoot at the giant Decepticon rocket engine he just helped build! (Huffer has the wrong paint job, too.)

* To add insult to injury, Devastator is shooting at the Autobots ''before'' the Constructicons form Devastator.

* Soundwave travels with Galvatron to find the source of the harmony. However, when the scene returns to the battle outside the city, Soundwave is with the other Decepticons at the same time.

===Real-world references===
* The Eurythman characters' names are all music-related puns. Allegra and Basso Profundo are references to terms related to classical music, while Zebop Skandana is named after popular music guitarist Carlos Santana and his song Zebop. And the difference shows.

* Eurythma was possibly named after the popular '80s band [[wikipedia:Eurythmics|The Eurythmics]].

===Trivia===
* "Carnage in C-Minor" is widely regarded by fans as the worst episode of all ''Transformers'' series, but this is seemingly due to the sheer volume of animation errors, as well as the glaringly obvious nature of many of the individual errors. However, the actual ''plot'' is certainly not the weakest to grace the cartoon series, and its "continuity errors" have little to nothing to do with the script itself...certainly not to the level of, say, "[[B.O.T. (episode)|B.O.T.]]".

* That said, there is plenty of inanity to be found in the story too. For instance: Despite the aliens' dialog being in perfectly understandable English (or Galactic Standard or whatever), because they say everything in a sing-song rhythm, apparently none of the Transformers except Blaster and Soundwave can understand them, and the two tape decks spend a large (and annoying) amount of time translating Eurythman to "non-sing-song" for everyone else.

* Galvatron and Soundwave are briefly seen holding hands whilst flying.

* Apparently, a single blast from [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]'s [[lightning cannon]] can cause [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] to disassemble. And [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] believes that intellectuals are weak.

* Anyone else bothered that this "sonic weapon" was used to destroy a comet IN SPACE?

* This was one of several episodes subjected to the [[MSTF]] treatment at [[BotCon 1999]].

* In hindsight, it wasn't the best idea for Soundwave to have his erase button open so it could be pushed by a enemy. Or to have an erase button in the first place. For their sake, we hope [[Rumble]] and the other [[Decepticon Mini-Cassette|cassettes]] had their copy-protection tabs removed.
I don't have the deluxe version so I don't know if that one can do it too. [[Special:Contributions/84.69.143.180|84.69.143.180]] 07:51, 14 September 2009 (EDT)
== Zoolander reference? ==
I noticed that Hasbro said in the March 2010 Q&A answers for [http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?s=d10ab71f63bb8dcedc22cc2162437e6e&showtopic=67971&st=0&p=1496519&#entry1496519 the Allspark] that the Legends class Bluesteel Sideswipe is a "reference to one the team's favorite comedies."
Now, there are two movies with the title "Blue Steel", but those could only be called comedies if you were viciously critical. However, "Blue Steel" also crops up as a fairly prominent term in Zoolander, so that's most likely the movie to which they're referring. Anyone else feel this is worth a mention in the trivia section? -- [[User:Ayellowbirds|Ayellowbirds]] 20:16, 30 April 2010 (EDT)
== Light piping ==

My Sidearm Sideswipe has red light-plastic in the back of his head, but he has blue eyes. When held up to a damn powerful light source, however, they glow red. In his stock photography, however, he has one blue and one red eye. Should this info be added to the page?

When a unit of Autobots needs to get somewhere fast, they turn to '''Stratosphere'''. His cargo plane mode can transport an entire team half way around the [[Earth|globe]] and then supply high-altitude covering fire when they get there. In the air, he is virtually unbeatable, and he knows it; Stratosphere thinks he can take on just about any challenge all on his lonesome, and this becomes a distinct problem when the threat is on the ground, where his combat abilities are no great shakes. As a consequence, he doesn't like to spend a lot of time on terra firma, preferring to reign supreme in the sky for as long as possible.
[[Image:Rotf devastator vs stratosphere.jpg|left|thumb|275px]]
During a routine sweep of British Columbia, Stratosphere lost contact with [[NEST]] headquarters when he flew through an unanticipated bank of heavy cloud over a mountain range. The cloud bank proved artificial, created by the Decepticons in order to hide their operation to reconstruct [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]], a truth Stratosphere discovered when the partially-functional behemoth swatted him out the sky. His wings damaged by the blow and his communications nullified by a Decepticon jamming field, Stratosphere hoofed it to the Decepticons' construction site, and single-handedly took out the work-bots in a frenzied frontal assault. Construction supervisor [[Skywarp (ROTF)|Skywarp]] proved tougher to handle, and Stratosphere was floored by a single kick from the Decepticon, but luckily, before a killing shot could be delivered, Stratosphere exploited his unusual body shape by spinning over on the ground and smacking Skywarp with his wing. Realizing that he couldn't face this threat down alone, he destroyed the jamming array and radioed in his position to NEST with a request to [[bring the rain]]. Undeterred, Skywarp transformed to jet mode and came streaking towards him, but Stratosphere quipped that being brought down to earth had given him a new perspective, and he tilted the device generating the cloud bank upwards, blinding Skywarp with it. Skywarp crashed, and Stratosphere made himself scarce, meeting up with [[Jolt (ROTF)|Jolt]], [[Rollbar (ROTF)|Rollbar]] and [[Dune Runner (ROTF)|Dune Runner]] just as the air-strike arrived. Watching the massive blast from afar, Jolt wondered if Devastator could have survived, and Stratosphere advocated not waiting around to find out. After all... any landing he could walk away from was a good one!
