Come too close, and circuits will short, steel housing will begin to melt, and psyches will break as the mind struggles to comprehend. Science would explain that his body is aflame in radiation, but Sunstorm has different ideas.

Sometimes, Sunstorm merely believes he is secretly some kind of supernatural being, keeping his comrades away with his odd behavior. At other times, he thinks that he is the living embodiment of the Will of [[Primus]], placed by the divine in this universe to deal righteous judgment on the blasphemous. Occasionally, he just hovers silently in the background and shoots at things.

He was the perfect soldier; he possessed the ability to manipulate electromagnetic energy, enhanced regenerative capabilities, and a blank slate of a mind waiting to be written according to Shockwave's design.

When the Autobots took [[Iacon (polity)|New Iacon]] from Shockwave, he hurriedly uploaded the compressed contents of the supercomputer [[Vector Sigma]] to multiple locations, including the hidden cloning lab near the [[Quadrant Epsilon|Epsilon]] border where Sunstorm lay, awaiting instructions. Fleeing the fall of New Iacon, Decepticons [[Runabout (G1)|Runabout]] and [[Runamuck (G1)|Runamuck]] broke into the Epsilon lab, unaware of its importance, intending to use it as a safehouse. The game is very simple. The player chooses a battle location, put at least an Autobot and a Decepticon and then can start the battle. The battle is automatic, the player can't interfere in it.It's awesome.It's actually as awesome as [[Flight of the Bumblebee]]. If the two primes are the only ones left standing, sometimes a glitch causes Optimus and Setinal to turn on each other. Not only is it fun, its movie accurate.

Long ago, the Hate Plague ravaged the universe, but was contained by a wise man using sheer wisdom. However, nobody was wise enough to completely destroy the plague spores, so they were simply sealed inside a star. {{storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2}}

Eventually, the star went supernova and exploded while being studied by [[human]] scientists [[Jessica Morgan]] and [[Gregory Swofford]], covering their spaceship in Hate Plague spores. Taking them back to [[Earth]], Gregory studied the spores with his colleague, [[Mark Morgan]], and learned of their properties. Jessica was later injured in a scuffle between the [[Autobot|Autobots]] and [[Decepticon|Decepticons]], prompting the two men to trap various Autobots and infect them with the spores. The newly resurrected [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] was tasked with curing the disease.
