the Energon-series Omnicon
:Signal Flare is an Autobot-allied Omnicon from the Energon portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Signal Flare is a craftsman; he loves spending his time carefully sculpting raw Energon into powerful weapons. He's considerably less interested in applying them to combat, though he's certainly no slouch in that department. Still, he'd rather leave the slice-and-dice to his feistier brother Offshoot.

He is very intelligent, and his ability to both detect and manipulate Energon in its various forms, be it solid, energy or gaseous, makes him an invaluable member of the Autobot forces.

Sometimes there are lots of him, other times he starts every statement with "CRZ!".

Fiction
Energon cartoon
:Voice actor: Michael Dobson (English), Nobuo Tobita (Japanese), Niclas Fransson (Swedish)

A team of Signal Flares was vital in the process of building Energon Towers. A Signal Flare also scanned and replicated the Energon Sword. The New Cybertron City Afterward he told Optimus Prime that he would be able to duplicate the sword from the information he gathered. Megatron Raid Later he told a bad joke to Skyblast as the presense of Starscream passed by. Another was also around when Hot Shot asked Skyblast for some energon stars.

A cadre of Signal Flares fired their beams upward to help power up a newly installed energon tower during a Decepticon attack Energon Tower (episode) and repeated the action again for future towers The Legend of Rodimus

Signal Flare held Kicker's captured Battle Ravage on a leash while seraching for energon on the moon. When the Battle Ravage turned on a new heading, he and Kicker followed. They ran into Demolishor and a number of additional Battle Ravages as a trap set by the Decepticons to capture Kicker. Signal Flare took out a few Battle Ravages before Kicker surrendered. Later when the Omnicon survivors of Lunar City made themselves known, more Signal Flares pulled a new energon tower onto the city. Kicker Beware!

When the Autobots decided to go after Unicron, Signal Flare prepared the space bridge for the new Miranda II starship with a trajectory to Asteroid City. Go for Unicron! Later during the Unicron assault on Cybertron, a few Signal Flares followed Kicker through a warp gate to the planet's surface. Unicron Unleashed Later a plethora of Strongarms emerged from a space bridge to help the Autobots after they entered the rift in space. They boarded the Miranda II and followed Optimus Prime's Ripped Up Space through the black hole Protection

While creating a supply of energon stars, Signal Flare reported from Blizzard City, stating their supply was 500 stars or so. At the same time another Signal Flare finished with the repairs of Wing Dagger into the new Wing Saber. Open Fire! Later during a lull in combat, a Signal Flare relaxed on Jungle Planet, loving the place regardless of reason. Somehow he had Energon grow on his chest. After a battle with the Decepticons, while the Autobots thanked Bulkhead, Signal Flare helped demonstrate how they were now able to generate Energon on the new Jungle Planet. Jungle Planet (episode) He continued to relax, catch rays, and generate more energon stars. Bulkhead (episode)

Multiple Signal Flares continued to work on the planets the Autobots were set to defend. One accompanied Kicker to Rock Planet. Another was with Rodimus at Blizzard Planet. Another Signal Flare continued to create Energon stars by relaxing. Another was part of the team to keep an eye on Inferno while he played decoy. As Inferno was turning into a Decepticon, Signal Flare fired an energon star into Inferno to attempt to bring him back to the Autobot side. Farewell Inferno

During the Autobot race, Signal Flare were present in the audience as well as participants in the race itself. Crash Course Much later when a number of Autobots were confined to sick bay after a disasterous battle with Unicron, a Signal Flare warned Kicker of a code Orange. The injured patients were busting out of sick bay. Roadblock requested that "Nurse Flare" give them energon stars. Unicron Perishes

Later some Signal Flares stationed on Ocean Planet accompanied Optimus Prime back to Cybertron via the space bridge.Galvatron Terror Once through, they followed Jetfire per Prime's orders. He brought them to Dr. Jones, who came up with a plan. The Signal Flares joined with Kicker and the other Omnicons to cut all the super energon tubes that tied Galvatron to the planet. Destructive Power They remained on Cybertron and reacted in awe as a new sun was created. The Sun

Energon comic
Signal Flare and his fellow Omnicons are upgraded Mini-Cons. He and Skyblast guarded Over-Run's access point in the Mini-Con village Six-Beta. This Evil Reborn Later, they were sent by Over-Run to assist Optimus Prime in repelling Unicron's Four Horsemen. What Lies Beneath, Part Two They then went to Earth to stop Scorponok and his Terrorcons in Australia. What Lies Beneath, Part Four

Proving to be a bit too out of control to base near human cities, they were sent to the site of a new energon well in the Yukon. They were captured by Snow Cat while blowing off some steam, who attempted to rewrite their programming to turn them into Decepticons. Subconsciously guided by the snarky floating advice-giving head of Over-Run, they managed to break free by combining their powers. More teamwork led to Snow Cat's defeat, and a better understanding of their abilities. Omni-Potent

On a mission with Kicker Jones to the Black Sea in Turkey to locate a new energon well underwater, Signal Flare created the energon bubble that protected Kicker from the crushing pressure of the deep sea. They were attacked by Mirage (who had previously butted heads with them as Tidal Wave), Slugslinger and Sharkticon, who were attempting to capture the energon-empathic human. Multiplicity Multiplicity, Pt. 2 Though the Omnicons were beaten down, Multiplicity, Pt. 3 Kicker’s powers revitalized them and allowed them to force the Decepticons to retreat. Multiplicity, Pt. 4
Notes
* A MASER tank is a vehicle created in the Japanese Godzilla movie series. This would make Signal Flare's Terrorcon counterpart Cruellock, who is patterned on the 1998 American-movie version of Godzilla. MASER tanks never really worked all that well against whatever giant monster was stomping around each week.

* Development sketches from Aaron Archer reveal that part of the inspiration for Signal Flare's vehicle mode was the distinctively-shaped Cobra H.I.S.S. tank from the G.I. Joe toy line.
The Matrix Cannon is a devastating energy weapon capable of destroying even the pulsing energy core of Unicron. Its power is formed, along with the Nemesis Shield and Vanguard Booster, from the combination of the Red, Blue, Green, Gold and Purple Mini-Con Teams.

Despite its name, the Matrix Cannon has no physical form. Rather, it manifests itself within the spark of a worthy Transformer, and the combined might of all Mini-Cons is released from the Transformer's proprietary weapon systems. This awesome blast can damage even Unicron with one shot.

After the Autobots had collected all of the Mini-Cons stranded on Earth, they learned that Cybertron was being threatened by the chaos-bringer Unicron. The Mini-Cons merged together to form three incredibly powerful weapons, including the Matrix Cannon, and the Autobots were able to destroy Unicron and end the threat to their planet. Transformers (PS2)
* In the 'Recruit' difficulty, you need to collect 30 Mini-Cons to form the Matrix Cannon, 35 in the 'Veteran' difficulty, and 40 in the 'Commander' difficulty... Which means all of them. All hail the cheats.
