:Jetfire is an Autobot from the Aligned continuity family.

Jetfire is a dedicated scientist whose personal upgrades to his chassis have made him the fastest Autobot on Cybertron. He has a strong moral compass, which led to his falling-out with his friend Starscream, and does not believe in gray areas when making major decisions.

Fiction
Aligned novels
Jetfire wasn't the first Autobot Seeker, but he was the first to defect from the Decepticons. He spent most of his time in a laboratory trying to further exploit the Autobots' flight capabilities – a scientific dead end, but one Optimus Prime placed great hope in. He was absent when Megatron entered Iacon and stole the Plasma Energy Chamber, but accompanied Optimus with Bumblebee as back-up during the rescue of Sentinel Prime from Kaon. They then moved to rid the Dark Energon from the core of Cybertron. While descending, Jetfire was tempted to try some Dark Energon, but Optimus told him if he did, Prime would have to kill him.

Once at the core, Optimus removed the Chamber and was given the Matrix of Leadership, as well as orders to evacuate the planet as it began repairing itself. Optimus launched Project Generation One, which Jazz dubbed the Ark. Jetfire found the notion suicidal, but agreed to help and gave the Autobots time to complete the Ark by creating a diversion. Aerialbots under his guidance gathered every space-worthy ship in the ruins of Six Lasers Over Cybertron, while Jetfire picked the Eight Track for himself to captain.

After drawing out Trypticon, Jetfire evaded the Station's detection system by flying in and out of the Asteroid Belt. He slowly but surely bolted the Eight Track with an ingress tube on to an unguarded part of the Station, allowing the Autobots to enter and blow up the Dark Energon Facility. Jetfire managed to detach the ship in time before Trypticon crashed in the Mithric Sea. However, Trypticon survived and transformed, and Jetfire refused a place on the Ark to distract the monster with the flight-capable Wrecker Springer. Megatron's elite entered Trypticon, who transformed into the Nemesis and flew after the Ark, leaving Jetfire on Cybertron with the Wreckers, Omega Supreme and Alpha Trion to deal with Shockwave's forces. Transformers: Exodus
Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
:Voice actor: Troy Baker (English), Gabriele Calindri (Italian)
When Megatron attacked Starscream's station, Jetfire confronted him during a lull in the fighting, noting he did not want to fight and that Dark Energon was too dangerous to use, Jetfire himself having seen what it can do. When Megatron declared his intent to take it anyway, Jetfire proclaimed that the Decepticon would destroy them all. Megatron mused, as Jetfire flew away, "You say that as if it were a bad thing."

Later, when Megatron had attained Dark Energon and demonstrated his control over it, Starscream offered to serve him and make more. Jetfire was aghast, and quickly escaped the station. Megatron decided to let him go, as he wanted the Autobots to feel dread at his approach.

During Megatron's siege of Iacon, Jetfire and the other Aerialbots were outnumbered and lacked surface-to-air support, causing significant losses. When Optimus took command, Jetfire specifically requested that the planetary guns be reactivated, which Optimus and his team promptly achieved. With that taken care of, he proceeded to feed tactical data and warnings whenever the still-overmatched Aerialbots could not stop all the incoming Decepticon Seekers, as well as recommendations on key targets of opportunity, including at least one Decepticon warship.

After Optimus assumed the mantle of Prime and kickstarted the Core of Cybertron's self-purging, he declared that the Autobots would have to leave their homeworld, as it would be rendered uninhabitable. However, as the transports began to leave, a powerful orbital weapon, part of Trypticon station, blasted apart every ship it could target. Prime sent Silverbolt, Air Raid, and Jetfire to take it out. Jetfire provided key knowledge during the assault, including weak points of machinery and barriers, as well as their main target of the plasma cooling system that prevented the orbital weapon from overloading. He made sure the Aerialbots stayed until the mechanism was destroyed (when the system reached 110% capacity and Air Raid was surprised it "went that high", Jetfire pointed out it didn't, and that was the point).

Megatron noted with some amusement that the Aerialbots apparently hadn't considered the possibility of backup systems, and ordered "Trypticon" to resume firing. He also entered Optimus Prime's coordinates and told it to bear on him. When Trypticon responded, Jetfire realized that the station, or at least the primary weapon, was a Cybertronian...shortly after which the team realized that they should be able to destroy its transformation systems and force it back into its normal form, which, whatever it was, had to be better than a killsat.

They found to their shock that this placed them inside Trypticon's mouth, and just barely managed to escape through the gaps between its teeth before it closed its jaws on them; it then headed for the surface, a massive jet pack controlling its descent. The Aerialbots managed to blast the pack apart, causing it to fall to Cybertron's surface like a meteor.

As Optimus, Bumblebee, and Ironhide battled the brute, which had survived the assault, the Aerialbots managed to find them and set about providing air support. However, Trypticon was much faster than they expected, taking out all three—not quite killing them, but putting them out of the fight.

Some time after Trypticon's defeat, they were at least back on their feet, and appeared with Optimus Prime as he surveyed the Ark. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
With an attack to obtain the Omega Key from Megatron imminent, Zeta Prime ordered Jetfire and Optimus to take the majority of their forces to protect a library while Zeta hid the Omega Key. However, the Decepticons only attacked faster and harder, and it was in this battle Zeta Prime eventually fell.

Jetfire was among the few Autobots who stood to assist Omega Supreme in the total annihilation of the Decepticons in Iacon. However, Megatron arrived with his strike team, and after defeating Cliffjumper, chased Jetfire through the ravaged city. Jetfire finally decided enough was enough, and faced the Decepticons down. However, the former scientist failed, and could only watch as Megatron advanced and defeated Omega Supreme.

Jetfire recovered and rejoined the Autobots. He was often their intel agent, and helped take back Iacon, and locate Zeta Prime. However, their leader died shortly after his rescue. Optimus was declared Optimus Prime, the new leader of the Autobots by the Autobot High Council. Jetfire helped his new leader reach Cybertron's core to save it from the Dark Energon. It was made clear that the recovering Core couldn't sustain the Autobot population, so a mass evacuation was ordered by Optimus. However, Trypticon Space Station began attacking the fleeing Autobot masses, and Jetfire followed Optimus to destroy it. On Cybertron's surface, the crashed station transformed into a monstrous city-sized Decepticon, Trypticon. Upon Trypticon's defeat, Jetfire stayed with Optimus on Cybertron to further battle Megatron.
Transformers: Cybertron Adventures
As the Autobots prepared to evacuate Cybertron, the Decepticons attempted to destroy their supply lines and bring down their transport ships. During one launch, Thundercracker and Skywarp commenced strafing and bombing of the Autobot position, so Optimus Prime dispatched Air Raid and Jetfire to hold off the Seekers. Unfortunately, the Decepticons managed to get Trypticon back on-line, and the orbital station started taking potshots at the Autobots from the sky. Jetfire and the Aerialbots took to the air, shooting up the energon relay stations that fed power to Trypticon. Jetfire infiltrated the orbital base on his strafing runs, sequentially cutting off all power to the ATG weapon systems, until Trypticon fell right out of the sky.

Unfortunately, once Trypticon Station fell to the planet's surface, it revealed itself as a massive Transformer, laying waste to Cybertron. As Optimus Prime coordinated the attack from the ground, Jetfire fought from the air until Trypticon finally went down, and the war continued for another day. Transformers: Cybertron Adventures
Jetfire was stationed in Autobot City, launch site of the Ark, during the Autobots' final days on Cybertron. When Megatron launched a brutal assault on the Ark, Jetfire was dismayed to learn that the attack came from the direction of Grimlock's apparently abandoned post, and subsequently joined the main battle.

When the Ark finally launched a few days later, Jetfire led the Aerialbots in the battle against the Nemesis. Jetfire was able to destroy several tentacles that the Decepticons were boarding the Ark with, and subsequently helped treat some of the wounded. When Jazz went up against the titan combiner Bruticus, Jetfire assisted him by leaving EMP grenades for him to lure Bruticus into, stunning the combiner. Jetfire and the Aerialbots then were able to defeat Bruticus with Jazz's help, before both the Ark and the Nemesis were flung into the space bridge portal to parts unknown.
Notes
* Jetfire's model is usable in War for Cybertron multiplayer as the Air Defender-type chassis for Scientist-class characters. His parts are also available to Scientists in Fall of Cybertron, now classified as Guardian-type components.
*Unlike his Skyfire counterpart, Jetfire always sided with the Autobots and Starscream was his friend until he betrayed Jetfire. In G1, Starscream was always a Decepticon and Skyfire betrayed him.
*Despite being a Neutral before joining Optimus Prime's cause in War for Cybertron, Jetfire begins the game with his glowing details already in Autobot red as opposed to Neutral yellow.
*In an interesting (and confusing) decision, Optimus decided that Silverbolt should lead the attack on Trypticon Station, despite the fact that Jetfire had worked there for some amount of time and would have known exactly how to take out the station. It's possible that Optimus didn't know about Jetfire's past, but this is unlikely seeing as how he had always been allied to the Autobots. It is more likely that Jetfire was the planetary Air Commander (as seen in Defend Iacon), and that Silverbolt was already orbital Air Commander.
He cares more for his friends than himself, and as a true believer in the Autobot cause, he would gladly sacrifice himself to protect them.

Back before the war Silverbolt loved watching police procedural and forensic video fiction. He was enough of a fan of it all that he actually knows more about the forensic side of things than former investigating officer Prowl!
:Voice actor: Patrick Seitz (English)
During the decepticon assault on Iacon Silverbolt and Jetfire tried to stop Starscream from getting to The Decagon, but sustained heavy damage as a result. As Cybertron was dying, Optimus Prime ordered an evacuation of all Autobot cities. However, Megatron had refitted the station producing Dark Energon with a colossal weapon that blasted the ships holding the Autobots who defied him by escaping. Prime sent for Silverbolt, Jetfire and Air Raid to lead the Aerialbots in an assault to take Megatron's battle station offline. After getting into the relay station, and disabling the safety locks, the Autobots managed to find the coolant room, where Silverbolt suggested blasting everything. Shooting through wave after wave of Decepticons, Air Raid admitted he had wanted to be the Aerialbot commander, but was impressed with his leader not entirely sucking at the job — especially for a guy who was afraid of flying. Silverbolt was not amused.

The Autobots then destroyed the station's coolant pump, and Silverbolt ordered the squad to navigate towards the control room, showing utter devotion to the task at hand. In the room, the controls were blocked off and Megatron projected an image of himself, taunting the Autobots, Jetfire in particular. Silverbolt was surprised that they knew each other, and after a war of words, Megatron sent in his Decepticon troops. Though the Autobots were outnumbered, Silverbolt swore he'd fight to his last spark, and the opposition was no match. Silverbolt then flushed the coolant tanks and the Autobots tore off through the now-empty tunnels, which were starting to come apart. After overhearing a Decepticon commander talk about Megatron's plans for Trypticon, Silverbolt's squad destroyed his troops and flew to the nerve centre, where they deactivated the beam's pulse regulator. After stalling waves of Decepticons, the plasma within the regulator reached 110% and blew sky-high.

However, Megatron had backup systems, and sent more Decepticons. Silverbolt decided that his team could still blow the weapon up from the inside, and the team flew inside to the energy conduit, where Optimus contacted him, telling him to disable the gun immediately, as the damage from the cannon was becoming catastrophic. Silverbolt had no clear plan, but still swore to do what he could prevent the Autobot deaths. Then...the gun taunted the Autobots, revealing its true identity as a Cybertronian, Trypticon. As they dispatched the Decepticons and flew in further, the situation became more and more dire, and Air Raid suggested the destruction of Trypticon's conversion cog, changing him to his original mode. Jetfire was skeptical, but Silverbolt encouraged the idea, as anything was better than a gigantic talking space gun. They managed to destroy the cog before it Trypticon could unleash a full-power blast at Optimus Prime's position, and Trypticon was forced into his beastly robot mode, falling towards Cybertron. Silverbolt ordered the team to destroy Trypticon's jetpacks, and when they were eliminated, allowed gravity to do the rest.

Sure enough, Trypticon crashed on Cybertron, and Optimus, Ironhide and Bumblebee went to investigate. Silverbolt told Optimus he and the others were en route, and even gave them advice on how to defeat Trypticon. Optimus's group took Silverbolt's advice, and just after damaging his weapon systems, Silverbolt's squad arrived and tried to help out, but all three flying Autobots were swatted aside by the beast.

Silverbolt and his teammates survived, however, and got better in time to witness Optimus's post-victory speech, staying on Cybertron continuing the fight against Megatron. They would be among the future crew members of the Ark when the Autobots' time came to leave their home. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
As the Decepticons attempted to restart the Energon Bridge, Silverbolt set a group of Autobot fighters on them and used Energon dampeners to disrupt the flow of power. Though the Decepticons quickly destroyed the dampeners, they were forced to attempt to reroute the Energon through a back-up link. Silverbolt confronted them at the back-up controls. He proved unable to stop them, and they successfully reactivated the bridge. Silverbolt had still bought the rest of the Autobots time, and the Decepticons discovered that they had used the Omega Key to sever the connection to Cybertron's core, limiting the power flow.
Silverbolt was injured and leaked too much Energon. Optimus Prime and Ratchet were able to stabilize his condition despite the on and off power failures. Megatron, now powered up by the Dark Energon, has decided his next move and leaves the Decepticon ship in Starscream's hands. Starscream thinks Megatron's gone a bit loopy, and he orders Soundwave to increase surveillance.

Optimus has realized Megatron's plan to create an undead army. As the rest of the Autobots arrive, Optimus announces he's going on a mission with Ratchet, who doesn't take kindly to Arcee's suggestion he may be a little rusty. Leaving Arcee in charge, the pair bridge out. Arcee immediately puts Bulkhead in charge and goes out on patrol with Bumblebee. Miko attempts to organize an impromptu band practice, but while she's belting out an electric guitar solo, the proximity alert goes off. The kids hide behind Bulkhead as Agent Fowler walks in to complain about the energon mine explosion. Unfortunately, Miko's guitar gives them away, and Fowler announces he's taking them into federal custody, but Bulkhead puts his foot down, and Fowler storms out.

In a remote region, Prime explains to Ratchet that they're looking for the remains of an old Transformer battlefield, from the period in the war when energon started being hidden on other planets.

As Fowler flies from the Autobot base in his copter, he radios in a report, which is intercepted by Soundwave. Starscream orders Fowler captured, so Soundwave sends out Laserbeak. The Deployer catches up with Fowler, who engages in some deft maneuvers to try and avoid it, and even gets some shots off before it slices the tail off his copter and abducts him.

Fowler's distress call is picked up at the Autobot base. Though Bulkhead is reluctant to help, the others point out Fowler knows the location of the base. Raf sets about hacking into a federal computer so they can locate Fowler. Bulkhead leaves Jack in charge and heads out. Bulkhead finds himself near the Decepticon ship, but is surprised when Miko pops up next to him. After dealing with a Decepticon sentry, he contacts Arcee. Back at base, Jack and Raf have realized Miko is gone, and they use the ground bridge to follow. Unfortunately, this leaves the base unmanned when Arcee rings in to get use of the ground bridge. Jack and Raf arrive at Bulkhead's location and immediately manage to attract the attention of the Decepticon drones on guard.

Starscream interrogates Fowler without much success, so he resorts to getting out the energon prod.

Meanwhile, Optimus and Ratchet reach the Transformer graveyard they've been seeeking. Unfortunately, so does Megatron, who uses a chunk of Dark Energon to raise an army of Terrorcons.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
*When Megatron turns around and orders Starscream to await his command, his fusion cannon disappears.
*The speakers for Miko's band practice appear spontaneously without any indication of their existence.
*Raf fixes the Nemesis at latitude 39.5 and longitude 116.9, which corresponds to a location roughly halfway between Beijing and the Chinese coast. Perhaps he meant longitude -116.9, which would put the Nemesis somewhere near the center of Nevada, which definitely works out with the fact that Arcee and Bumblebee are able to drive to the ship in the next episode.

Transformers references
* Ratchet's comment that his hearing is still good even though his pistons are rusty is possibly a reference to the Animated Ratchet, who made a similar comment when Bumblebee made a joke about his age.
* Bulkhead has a compartment similar to his Animated incarnation, but higher up on his chest. Objects inside his vehicle mode end up there when he transforms.
* The concepts of the Transformers seeding energon on Earth and having had wars there in the distant past before have turned up in recent fiction, IDW's comics and Revenge of the Fallen. The latter was also in an '80s Ladybird Book, "Galvatron's Air Attack".
Trivia
* This episode tries to resolve some of the continuity issues with Dark Energon the previous episode causes. Both Optimus and Ratchet know of its existence and even the rumor that it brings the dead back to life. Supplies of it were just so scarce as to be non-existent, hence their inexperience with it.
* The IDW adaptation of the story, Transformers Prime: Darkness Falls, specifies that the Terrorcon battle takes place in the Grand Canyon.
* In an amusing show of cultural differences, Bulkhead tries to order Miko to look away before tearing out a Vehicon's internals (presumably to spare her the sight of the carnage). Miko has no problem with it, only seeing a hunk of metal and a bunch of wires.
* No, really, Bulkhead was going to leave Fowler in Decepticon hands because he didn't like him. What a jerk!
* Twelve-year-old Raf can hack into the United States government's computer network and track down federal agents. What national security?
* Check out where Starscream sticks Fowler with the energon prod. Ouch!
* The area that Fowler's helicopter goes down in looks a lot like the area Skyquake would later be discovered in "Masters & Students".

With the films, each track is accompanied by a description of the scene it is featured in. Obviously since these themes here repeat, it'd be foolish to have to write, "Relentless Pursuit - Arcee fights the Vehicons, Arcee fights Airachnid, Optimus saves Vince from Knock Out..." But, perhaps instead, we could list the first scene the track was featured in. "We Have Returned - Arcee and Bumblebee bring the kids to the base for the first time; the Autobots arrive too late to save Cliffjumper, Starscream decides to target Arcee, the Autobots hold a memorial for Cliffjumper." An unlikely idea, but just throwing it out there! == Physics much? ==

Um hey guys, I think the writers of Transformers prime ignored the forces of physics in this episode. When Fowlers car dropped and Bulkhead jumped after it, Bulkhead hit the ground first and caught the sedan with a wait period of about 1 minute or so from jump to landing. Now my father is an astro physicist for NASA and i spoke to him about this (even showed him the episode) and he said that all physical dynamics was thrown out the window. Objects dropped at different times will land at different times. Meaning Fowlers car should have landed first regardless of how heavy Bulkhead is. This is because weight doesn't affect the acceleration of an object being dropped. Like the feather and the bowling ball, if dropped at the same time, will land at the same time. The only way that scenario can change is if you factor in the variable of wind resistance, and in the case of the feather and the bowling ball, then yes, the feather would experience more wind resistance and fall after the bowling ball, which would experience less. This is because of mass, and the shape of the object. (I.E is it aerodynamic or not?) However both Fowlers car and the obviously bulky Blulkhead both have obscured non-aerodynamic shapes and great mass (Bulkhead having slightly more mass) their wind resistance would be close to absolutely similar. My father (the astrophysicist) having seen the episode and Bulkheads size versus the car still believed that their wind resistance would be very similar and have little affect on the outcome of the fall. (Like seeing a Simi versus a Sedan fall out of a plane, the Sedan would still land first, therefor so should Fowlers car.) The fact that Bulkhead landed first with ENOUGH TIME to catch Fowlers sedan is just... impossible.

Can we add something about this phenomenon under the technical errors tab? --Arcee-Cola 1:20, 8 April 2012 (EDT)
:Yes, that sequence totally ignored the laws of physics, no question. --abates 04:46, 8 April 2012 (EDT)

:: Thanks, glad I and my physics-minded father could help out. You know, maybe if Bulkhead had some serious alien tech-like gravity boots or due-ex-machina whathaveyou, then maybe, maaaaybe, the ridiculousness could obscure the obvious middle finger to illimitable laws of physics.

Take that Sir Isaac Newton! --Arcee-Cola 2:15, 8 April 2012 (EDT)
Should it be mentioned that Fowler's plate is the same(RPI-437) as June Darby's? I know its probably because of model reuse, but it may be worth mentioning. -KodanDude

Soundwave, the Decepticon communications officer and one of Megatron's staunchest supporters, doesn't just master the frequencies that carry information across our planet, he revels in them. Stationed high in the upper atmosphere and capable of processing millions of data streams at once, he is fully capable of taking over communications on a planetary scale. Whether he uses this to direct civilization or destroy it remains to be seen.

Soundwave has two extremely powerful weapons: his spread of sonic cannons... and Megatron. If any Decepticon crosses him, he does not hesitate to send a full record of said Decepticon's failures to Megatron, almost certainly ensuring an untimely demise. His lofty position has made Starscream suspicious, so Soundwave has his minion Ravage keep an eye on the Air Commander if he gets out of hand. Thousands of years ago on Cybertron, Soundwave stood by Megatron's side on Unification Day, when a new era of Cybertronian government was ushered in that saw the planet ruled by two bodies—Megatron's Defense Force, of which Soundwave became a part, and Optimus's Science Division. Megatron's lust for power soon led him to claim dominion over Optimus, however, and Soundwave was silently present when Megatron summoned Optimus and made this declaration. Foundation issue 2

Some time later, Megatron came under the influence of The Fallen, who sought to be freed from the sarcophagus that was his trans-dimensional prison. To this end, Soundwave was assigned captaincy of the newly built spacecraft Nemesis, which would take the sarcophagus across the galaxy to find the world on which The Fallen had built a Star Harvester millennia beforehand. Soundwave and his crew left Cybertron with The Fallen's sarcophagus just before the outbreak of war. Defiance issue 4Foundation issue 3

After thousands of years of searching the stars, Soundwave's Nemesis detected the faint energy signature of the AllSpark, which had been jettisoned from Cybertron in their absence. Unfortunately for them, so did the Ark, an Autobot spacecraft that had also left Cybertron after the Nemesis and which was teleporting around space and time via a space bridge. The Ark materialized partially within the Nemesis, the intersection of their molecules crippled both ships. While the Ark teleported away, leaving a temporary space bridge portal lingering in its wake, the Decepticons managed to set the Nemesis down on a barren moon. For the first time, The Fallen, recognizing the space bridge as the technology of his people, spoke directly into Soundwave's mind, directing him to take the Decepticons aboard the smaller ship Longshot and follow the Ark through the portal. Complying, Soundwave's crew found themselves hurled into the future, appearing in the vicinity of Earth in the year 1961 alongside the Ark. The Autobot craft proceeded to crash on Earth's moon, and Soundwave quickly determined to keep humankind from plundering the treasures it contained: mysterious pillars that he had his crew set about removing from the ship and stockpiling. Convergence chapter 1

Unfortunately for Soundwave, humanity detected the crash of the Ark upon the Moon, and a "space race" began between the United States of America and the Soviet Union to be the first to reach the Moon. The Soviets were first to send probes that photographed the moon's surface: in 1963, their Luna 4 captured an image of the pillars as they were being moved. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film) Realizing the necessity of infiltrating the ranks of humanity in order to control the flow of data, Soundwave had the Pretender kill and replace Spetsnaz agent Alisa Morozov in 1964; then, in 1965, as the Soviets' Luna 6 was in flight, he sent her to Soviet Research Station Oktober to massacre the scientists awaiting data the probe would send back. Convinced by the Pretender that Humanity could be subverted towards their ends, Soundwave struck a deal with the sole surviving scientist, Voskhod, to curtail further Soviet moon missions. In the process, the Pretender also learned that both America and Russia allegedly had a Cybertronian in their individual custodies, but Soundwave dismissed them as rumors, preferring to focus on the trail of the AllSpark and the Star Harvester. Convergence chapter 2

Realizing that a captive American secret agent, Bill Simmons had escaped from Research Station Oktober during the Pretender's attack, Soundwave spent two months scanning information lines in search of him, eventually discovering him when he returned to North America and made contact with his superiors. Although the Pretender failed to finish him off, Soundwave had at last learned of Simmons's well-hidden organization: Sector Seven. Convergence chapter 3 In 1969, he monitored the launch of their Ghost 1 craft, believing it to be of greater importance than the Apollo 11 moon mission, but his guess proved incorrect: Thanks to Soundwave's being distracted, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were able to carry out the first brief excavation of the Ark. Incensed by his failure, Soundwave grew even more determined to find a mole within the American space program, and he set Ravage to find prospective candidates. He found a NASA accountant named Gould and tapped the stock market to provide enough financial persuasion for the human to manipulate the NASA budget to halt moon missions from 1972 onwards. Convergence chapter 4

Soundwave spent the rest of the 1970s recruiting more human pawns to prevent the Ark from being rediscovered. Eventually, in 1979, deciding that everything was secure, he and his crew departed Earth on the Longshot to reconvene with The Fallen back aboard the Nemesis, but with no space bridge portal to teleport them, the voyage took something in the vicinity of fourteen years. A brief talk with The Fallen yielded information: in Soundwave's absence, Megatron had visited the Nemesis, on the trail of the AllSpark. Soundwave realized that his leader must have been one of the Cybertronians in captivity on Earth, and immediately departed to return to the planet, putting most of his crew in statis. Before leaving, he presented The Fallen with one of the pillars from the Ark; after he left, The Fallen used it to finally free himself from his sarcophagus. Convergence chapter 4

During Soundwave's return voyage to Earth, Decepticon forces under the command of Starscream had arrived on the planet and freed Megatron, only for both the Decepticon leader and the AllSpark to be destroyed in battle in Mission City. Soundwave returned one month after his leader's death, but detoured briefly to investigate a space-time anomaly on Mars. There, he discovered a jury-rigged space bridge created from one of the Ark's pillars (created by Thundercracker), the remains of Dreadwing's, an imprint of Frenzy's body, Alliance issue 2 and a message from Starscream that informed him of the recent events on Earth. Convergence chapter 4 Soundwave immediately made contact with Starscream, who had just finished battling Wreckage, and ordered him back to the Longshot to awaken the rest of his crew from stasis. Alliance issue 2Convergence chapter 4 Dispatching what few crew members were currently active to begin searching the planet for the Star Harvester, Soundwave assumed the form of a satellite and took up orbit around Earth. Alliance issue 4
As the search continued, Soundwave re-established contact with his many human pawns, including Gould's son Dylan, who had inherited his father's role as Decepticon liaison. Convergence chapter 4
One of his goals was to find the location of the Tomb of the Primes. The aging Seeker Ransack knew it but would only tell it to The Fallen. Strangely unwilling to put The Fallen and Ransack in touch and oddly preferring to personally know the location of the key to a monstrous superweapon himself Transformers Comic issue 2.8, Soundwave turned to the dormant Seekers instead. To Grindor, he simply said to get the memory tree to him and not get captured. Transformers Comic issue 2.3

Later, on The Fallen's orders, he directed Ravage to find Skids and Mudflap, find out what they knew about The Fallen's plans and who they'd told it to, and then terminate them. When Ravage had cornered Mudflap, Soundwave talked through him and attempted to interrogate the Autobot; this failed, with Mudflap not even being bothered about who Soundwave was. While the hit was a bust, Soundwave ensured the base was bugged. As a result, he discovered Sideswipe distrusted the twins.
Poor Soundwave soon had to put up with the twins, as they insisted on chatting through his briefings and dissing the other 'cons. He just about, through ominous glares, got them to pay attention to their mission: to capture Ransack and bring him in to be "re-educated". This, however, was all a big con on the twins: he just wanted them as expendable bait to draw out Ransack, so Grindor and Sideways could knock him out. Once Ransack was in his hands, Soundwave beat the snot out of him and demanded the location to the Tomb of the Primes. The Seeker still refused to talk, and insulted Soundwave as being a mere cog who could barely understand the big picture. He almost killed Ransack for that, having to be held back by Starscream (don't want The Fallen knowing you've killed his Seeker!), but the elder continued to mock him for believing he had freedom of action just because The Fallen was absent.
When the twins, revealed to have been faking their defection, returned to beat the crap out of the Phobos base, an annoyed Soundwave ended their brief success with overwhelming violence. While Ironhide headed outside to face Bludgeon, Bumblebee remained inside to guard the Autobots' precious data tracks from Soundwave. Bumblebee fired shot after shot, but Soundwave was able to simply use his sonic powers to repel the attacks back towards Bumblebee. However, Bumblebee gambled that Soundwave would be unable to repel a great number of attacks simultaneously, and the Decepticon was overwhelmed by Bumblebee's automatic weaponry. Cyber Missions 1 Bumblebee confined Soundwave inside a vacuum-sealed electromagnetic bubble, where his sonic weaponry would be useless. Cyber Missions 2

Instructed by Megatron to "hound" humans and "get up close and personal" in his attacks, Soundwave cut a swathe of destruction across the North Atlantic, destroying ships as he headed on a course towards Florida. Identifying his pattern, William Lennox and Robert Epps staged an ambush, laying out a cargo ship for Soundwave to attack and then blindsiding him with a volley from a hidden warship. Badly damaged in the surprise assault, Soundwave was forced to retreat, venturing into the confines of...the Bermuda Triangle! (Dun dun dunnnn!)

Amidst the storm clouds, Soundwave discovered another ship that he decided to attack out of spite, but faltered when his databanks identified it as a United States Navy vessel that had been lost in 1918. Caught off-guard by a volley of primitive weaponsfire (even for humans!) and damaged even further, Soundwave tried to limp away, only to cross paths with another mystery ship, this one allegedly from 1941! Pelted from both sides and unable to get a handle on his situation, Soundwave fled high into the air, out of the ships' range...and right in the path of a squadron of World War II bombers! Rattled by their machine gun fire and unable to overcome their superior flying skills, Soundwave decided to break upwards...all the way upwards. Whatever strange chronal chaos he had encountered in the depths of the Bermuda Triangle, Soundwave concluded that the solar radiation, meteor showers and space debris he would face on the Moon would be much safer! Transformers Comic issue 2.15

When the Autobots were about to discover an Ark fragment that could lead them to Sentinel Prime, Soundwave and Starscream sprang into action. From his position in high orbit, Soundwave hacked and took over NEST's defensive guns and left the Fiesole Cathedral wide open. Transformers Comic issue 3.1

Striking out on his own and using a brand new body, Soundwave scanned the Earth for a large seam of gold and, having discovered the legendary El Dorado in Colombia, used the human Tanto Gang to help him dig it up. Once they found it, he began shooting at them: he wanted it for himself so he could flood the markets with gold and crash the economy! NEST attempted to stop him and he fought Optimus Prime directly, but in the end he was driven off when the Tanto Gang triggered a bomb for revenge. Transformers Comic issue 3.2

Soundwave then allowed NEST to find him, pretending to be injured from the battle... and then opened fire with full weaponry, injuring Robert Epps and nearly killing Bumblebee. When Optimus arrived, Soundwave was able to force him to agree to a fight without weapons (Optimus weapons anyway) and attempted to blast him off the Sierra Nevada mountains. Unfortunately for him, he got too into it and his sonic blasts began to cause avalanches, while Optimus was able to locate a fissure in the rock and sneak up behind him. Surprised, he was shoved into the avalanche he'd start and almost killed.

During the 1970s, Soundwave had tried to hide the Ark's presence on the moon by gaining human contacts in the United States and Soviet Union, whose creative accounting would render further trips to the moon financially unfeasible. One of these was Dylan Gould's father, while Dylan himself would later accept Soundwave as a client. But with the failure of Megatron and The Fallen's schemes, the Decepticons now planned to alert Optimus Prime to the ship's existence so he could revive Sentinel Prime with the Matrix of Leadership for them.

Soundwave went undercover on Earth as a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. He and his winged minion Laserbeak visited the incapicitated Megatron in Africa, and informed the ex-tyrant that Optimus had discovered an Ark fuel cell at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and had recovered the body of Sentinel Prime and five of his Space Bridge pillars. Megatron decided it was time to eliminate loose ends in their plan, so Soundwave sent Laserbeak to further draw out the Autobots by killing many of their human contacts, including Jerry Wang.
Meanwhile, the disguised Soundwave was "given" by their human ally Dylan, the one human they did not kill, as a gift to Sam Witwicky's new girlfriend Carly Spencer. He was used as a car to transport Carly to Dylan's party. During the party, Sam and Carly tried to leave, only for Soundwave and Laserbeak to reveal themselves, and the sonic warrior took Carly hostage. Gould explained his relationship with the two Decepticons while Soundwave used his tentacles to threaten Carly, and the pair forced Sam into finding out the Autobot's plan for a counter-attack.
During the Decepticon occupation of Chicago, Soundwave took several Autobots prisoner until Gould stated that things had gotten personal and the Autobots needed a lesson of respect, and Soundwave happily concurred: "No prisoners, only trophies". He and Barricade began by executing Que. He then selected Bumblebee to be his victim and dragged him forward, pushing him onto the body of his fallen comrade. He then told the Autobot to turn around as was about to execute him, when he was distracted by Wheelie and Brains's sabotage of a Decepticon aircraft carrier, raining fighters onto the battlefield. The Autobot scout took advantage of this small slip of opportunity and punched Soundwave as they battled through the chaos, causing him to drop one of his guns. Evading Soundwave's sonic cannon blasts, Bumblebee eventually blasted part of Soundwave's leg, causing him to drop his remaining gun, and he lunged at the Autobot. Bumblebee then delivered the final blow by throwing an uppercut to Soundwave's torso and shooting Soundwave upwards, disintegrating his head, and flipping his body over to the side. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)

Soundwave coordinated the Decepticons' movement on Earth, but never stooped so low as to join field operations - not even taking part in their regular dissing contests - er, group discussions following missions. He often provided "mission control" to the Decepticons in the field. However, when he did step down from on high to mingle with the commoners, he could easily hold his own in battle. Among Soundwave's arsenal was a little friend in the form of a turret which could literally stomp the yard - er, oh hell. Just read the next paragraph in italics.

Revenge of the Fallen - The Game (Wii/PS2)
Soundwave - surprise - coordinated the Decepticon movement on Earth from space, often guiding Decepticons in the field. Soundwave dispatched Reedman and Ravage to retrieve a fragment of the AllSpark from NEST, and directed the Decepticons to find Megatron's body in a NEST base in the middle of the Atlantic.

Busy guy, ain't he?

Transformers Autobots/Decepticons
Soundwave was the Decepticon movement's coordinator, loyally serving The Fallen and Megatron (the former likely because he was out to bring Megatron back), making no effort to hide his disdain for Starscream's gig as Decepticon leader. He regularly coordinated and provided intel for Decepticons in the field, and was more than happy to chew out the troops if they sucked at their job, and was pleased to have Megatron back.

However, this pleasure likely turned to boiling hatred when The Fallen promoted the new recruit to Decepticon leader and replaced Megatron, when the recruit killed Optimus Prime in Egypt at the Sun Harvester.
During Megatron's exile after the Egypt skirmish, Soundwave remained in orbit, monitoring Autobot transmissions and messages to send to his leader for information. Soon, Soundwave was ordered to disconnect from the satellite as Bumblebee had implanted a virus into his network which allowed the Autobots to follow Decepticon operations.

After landing on the planet and taking the form of an SUV, he was ordered to destroy a base that formerly served as a Sector Seven facility. Megatron required Soundwave to do so because it contained information on their ally contained in Russia. Soundwave completed this with the utmost efficiency, destroying every Autobot encountered and displaying great courage as he blasted Autobot scouts from the inside of a laser cage. After exploring the corridors of the base and having Laserbeak incapacitate anyone standing in his way, Soundwave destroyed the base and escaped the erupting base unscathed, as did his condor companion.

He later helped escort Megatron to Shockwave's location in a cryogenics facility in a Soviet country, and appeared in Africa with Megatron, Starscream and Shockwave as Megatron announced his plans were far from over. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Xbox 360/PS3)
Autobots/Decepticons
Starscream met with Soundwave to report that Megatron had ordered a two-pronged assault, with Starscream attacking a nearby NEST facility, and Soundwave was to create a diversion. Soundwave was skeptical that Megatron had actually ordered anything of the sort, and promised to double-check with his leader later. After causing a sizable diversion by knocking down a bunch of buildings, Soundwave went off and infiltrated another base. While hunting for the NEST computer, he was contacted by Starscream whose loud demands that Soundwave maintain stealth were more of a hindrance than anything. Soundwave managed to retrieve the data he was after, and while Crowbar kept the Autobots busy, he escaped. After he returned to the Decepticons' Siberian base, he received a message from Megatron—the Autobots had planted a number of radar emplacements around which were broadcasting a jamming signal, and Soundwave had to go around hacking them so Megatron's team could survey their immediate surroundings. Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Autobots/Decepticons
:Part of the initial Movie Preview wave, Soundwave is a Triple Changer, transforming into a satellite and a Cybertron jet, which are not exactly what could be described as "distinct" from one another. In all three modes, Soundwave features a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a missile intended to resemble Ravage, in reference to the scene in the film in which he launches the feline fiend down to Earth. In his (rather stocky) robot mode, Soundwave has blue light piping in his visor, but it is disabled, having been painted over in red; his other modes feature a second, armored version of his face, which is stored on the back of his robot mode. Probably to avoid giving the toy a very obviously two-headed robot mode, the alternate face lacks any paint details, and has an unpainted blue visor. Soundwave features numerous red and gold paint applications which are very cleverly and subtly positioned around his body to replicate similarly-colored and -positioned details on the original Soundwave toy.

:The configuration for the satellite mode depicted in the toy's instructions is not the way Soundwave appears in the film, featuring a different angling for the panels on his shoulders. It's not a big change, but transforming the toy in accordance with his movie appearance does help to distinguish the jet from the satellite a little, since otherwise, virtually the only difference is in the positioning of the large panel "wings".
: This three-pack was also available as an Asda exclusive in the United Kingdom and from Rossmann stores in Germany and Auchan stores in Hungary. Of note is that the European packaging does not market Rodimus as a "bonus figure" (presumably so stores can charge full price for three toys), and his window lacks the yellow edges highlighting him as a special feature, despite still being separated from Bumblebee and Soundwave, who share a common window like in the US version. Despite this, Rodimus still doesn't get a mention on the back of the packaging, which only features a one-sentence "bio" about Bumblebee planning to bring down Soundwave in twelve different languages.

: All versions of the packaging also lack any logos that label the toys as Cyberverse products.
In vehicle mode, he has two MechTech ports on the roof. His large "Sonic Cannon" can transform into an equally large "Interceptor Dish". In robot mode, Soundwave has MechTech ports in each hand and one on each shoulder, and he also has C joint bars on each leg.
*Soundwave / Mr. Gould with Laserbeak (Human Alliance, 2011)
**Japanese ID number: DD09
**Accessories: Missile

:A new Human Alliance mold of Soundwave in his SLS AMG mode. He has "SUPERIOR" tampographed on his license plate and comes with Laserbeak and Dylan Gould.

:As is usual for any Human Alliance figure, Gould (or any other "driver" figure) can can sit on Soundwave's seats in vehicle mode or stand on his hands in robot mode.

:Laserbeak can also transform into a spring-loaded missile-firing cannon for Gould to man, and the cannon itself can be pegged into any of Soundwave's six MechTech ports: two ports on his shoulders (his right shoulder is the nominal choice, as per the instructions), a port on top of each of his upper arms, and (rather awkwardly) a port on the sonic cannons on each of his lower arms. In bird mode, Laserbeak can also perch on either of the (flipped out) seats on Soundwave's lower arms via a molded-in C joint bar on the seats themselves and the bar clips on Laserbeak's heels.

:The pair of sonic cannons on the top of his left lower arm is also a panel that can be flipped open (up to 90 degrees), but since this is undocumented in the instructions, is only usable in robot mode, and doesn't appear to have anything inside it, it's purpose remains unknown.

:Finally, as with all large Human Alliance toys, he has a gimmick concerning his head. It is essentially the same gimmick as Barricade's: his jointed head allows him to open and close his mouth.

:As with many late-wave DOTM products, this toy had no US release.

:Robot Powered Machines Soundwave is a small, non-transforming pseudo-Scion XB with his robot mode sculpted underneath. Said robot mode resembles another Soundwave for some reason. The car's wheels feature through-axle construction for speedy racing on flat surfaces. Unlike other RPMs, Soundwave, along with the rest of the Metal Heroes, is made of die-cast metal.

:RPM Soundwave is probably the most homage-heavy Transformer ever produced: he has Animated Soundwave alt mode and a mix between his regular and Electrostatic incarnations "tattoos", War for Cybertron Soundwave robot mode (which in turn was heavily based in G1 Soundwave) and despite this, the bio and toyline clearly identify him as ROTF Soundwave. You can try and add Cybertron Soundwave to the list if you want, but that would be overkill.

:This toy's American release and the rest of the Metal Heroes were canceled in favor of the Speed Stars versions of the toys. They have been released in the Philippines, New Zealand and Mexico (at a discounted price compared to past RPM releases), however. Both versions were eventually available at retail in those countries.

:Speed Stars Soundwave is a redeco of the RPM vehicle, featuring many differences in comparison to the Robot Powered Machines release. Namely, the Speed Stars version lacks paint in the doors and tail lights, as well as the chest, arms, legs and face of the "robot" mode. The plastic at the bottom of the car is cast in gold instead of bronze. This version also lacks the "Soundwave-Audio" written on the inferior part of the doors. The red that borders the rims of his wheels is also not as bright or vibrant.
:This Soundwave toy is part of the "Stealth Force" subline, consisting of vehicles without robot modes, but with plenty of flip-out panels with hidden weapons. Like the smaller Metal Heroes toy, Soundwave has Animated Soundwave's Scion XB altmode and features War for Cybertron Soundwave on his packaging.
* Soundwave was originally supposed to feature in Transformers; he fulfilled both Barricade and Frenzy's roles, hacking into the CIA headquarters as a portable stereo, then morphed into a Humvee to track down Sam Witwicky. Michael Bay's decision to minimalize the amount of morphing in the film resulted in a change to a helicopter who openly attacks the army. Soundwave and Ravage were changed to Blackout and Scorponok as the film's location was changed from a jungle to a desert. Soundwave's name remained attached to the separated portable stereo character for a while, but Hasbro felt the resulting character did not properly represent the original Soundwave. He was first renamed Soundbite, but eventually ended up with the name Frenzy.
*According to the trade paperback, Soundwave was a major character in the third draft of The Reign of Starscream.

* In early drafts of Revenge of the Fallen, Soundwave came to Earth and scanned a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck form. Artist Paul Ozzimo created a visualization of this idea, and Hasbro based the Cybertronian satellite form's robot mode on this abandoned concept, particularly a Cybertronian version of the Chevy grill and small headlights on the lower torso. They then combined Ozzimo's body design with an unused, heavily G1-esque head design that had been created by artist Josh Nizzi (although Soundwave's finalized head design was also incorporated into the toy's satellite mode, in a manner akin to faux parts).

*Even though Frank Welker returned to voice Soundwave for the movie, his voice was not vocoded, but rather synthesized in the same way all the other Transformer voices in the movie were. Because of this, the voice he uses is much closer to that of "The Cave of Wonders" from Walt Disney's Aladdin, Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget and Darkseid from The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians, all voiced by Welker. However, in the Revenge of the Fallen video game, Soundwave's voice (Peter Jessop) is vocoded in a manner similar to that of Animated Soundwave's first voice, only with a more musical tone.

*Frank Welker voiced Soundwave not only in the English version of Revenge of the Fallen, but also in a large number of foreign dubs, including the Italian one. Welker described the process as "very hard". Although Welker is also credited in the German dub of the movie, German dubbing insiders insist that the voice heard in the actual movie is by someone else (Horst Lampe, who also dubbed Animated Ratchet), presumably as a last-minute decision because Welker's "German" performance was considered sub-standard. Welker is also credited in the American Spanish dub. (Which character he voiced is not listed, but it was most likely Soundwave, or he could have been credited for Devastator, Ravage, Grindor and Reedman, since all the sounds Welker did for them were kept in the American Spanish dub.) Doblaje Wiki, on the other hand, claims he was voiced by Andrés García or Salvador Reyes. You see, Wikis tend to get confused a lot on this issue, now it claims he was voiced by Leonardo García in Revenge of the Fallen (However it should be noted that Soundwave does sound different on the Spanish dub of DOTM, which implies that he was vocied by someone else in ROTF).

* Soundwave was included as a downloadable addition to the roster of the Revenge of the Fallen Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game, along with several Generation 1 homages and fellow movie character Sideswipe. Soundwave's special abilities deploy an aerial jammer pod that looks suspiciously like Laserbeak, and an AOE pod that continuously smashes the ground with piledrivers; undoubtedly a nod to Generation 1 Soundwave's minion Rumble. According to concept artist Ken Christiansen, his appearance was based more closely on the Deluxe class toy than his movie design.

* Early artwork for Soundwave for Dark of the Moon identified him as Breakdown, but considering other names presented on other concept artwork, it was likely just a smokescreen to hide his true identity in case of a leak.

* Before the release of Dark of the Moon, Michael Bay and other official parties tried really hard to suppress the plot twist of the silver Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG given to Carly by Dylan turning out to be Soundwave's new alternate mode. After the Mercedes had been spotted on the set, with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley exiting it, the first hint that it was more than meets the eye came with the trailer for the video game, which showed Soundwave's robot mode with car kibble such as wheels that heavily resembled those of the Mercedes. In addition, issue 3 of Transformers: Rising Storm depicted Soundwave's robot mode not only with car kibble, but with a Mercedes star on his chest. Despite this, director Michael Bay insisted that the Mercedes was simply Carly's car, claiming that "Mercedes would never let us make their car into a bad Decepticon. Car company's sic really frown on that. I can't say what the game company and comics do that's their own thing. They don't have the same constraints movies do. It's Carly's car." On April 19, 2011, an event for promoting the Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Transformers: Dark of the Moon video games was held in London. As part of this, High Moon Studios released promotional stills from the Dark of the Moon game, one of which depicted Soundwave's new robot mode, again with Mercedes parts. However, a news embargo was enforced on the attending press, which was broken by South African video game site egamer. The site was soon asked to take down the article and images, as were various Transformers fan sites that had reported on the article and mirrored the images. On May 2, 2011, Hasbro's official Transformers website was given a massive overhaul, including the addition of the new Vector Sigma database. The entry for Soundwave initially identified his alternate mode as a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, but was soon changed to "satellite". On May 3, 2011, the embargo for the video game article and promotional stills was finally lifted, allowing sites to freely show the image of Soundwave's new robot mode. Whether Mercedes approved of Soundwave's Earth mode or not remains to be seen.

*The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG car prop sported a German/European Union license plate, "M JS8509", registered in the city of Munich, on the Chicago set for Dark of the Moon. (The design of the plate is slightly inaccurate, as there should be a space between "JS" and "8509" if it were a real German plate. Also, a German car would have a license plate on the front as well.)

*In the Dark of the Moon video game, Soundwave turns into an SUV similar to a Mercedes GLK 350, but in robot mode, his design is the same one used for the movie. In particular, the back of his legs still sports kibble reminiscent of a Mercedes SLS AMG trunk, complete with the words "SLS" and "AMG" written on it.

*When Que is about to be executed, it is clearly Barricade forcing him to move, but an editing error has Barricade speaking in Soundwave's voice.
Dylan's father was a NASA accountant, who was approached by Soundwave in the early 1970s to manipulate the NASA budget and make further moon landings financially infeasible, thereby preventing humanity from discovering the wreck of the Ark on the lunar surface. Soundwave provided the money Gould desired by tapping the stock market, and so the man went to work, ensuring that the 1972 landing would be the last. Years later, in 1979, believing matters on Earth to be secure for the time being, Soundwave called another meeting with Gould to announce that he would be leaving the planet for a time. Gould brought Dylan to this meeting, as he intended for his son to take over his position as Decepticon liaison in the future. Soundwave was impressed with the child's tenacity, and could see in him greater desires that the base riches sought by his father.

Dylan had inherited his father's responsibilities when Soundwave return to Earth in 2007, now running the family company and continuing to maintain the veil of secrecy around the moon, with the help of Soundwave's numerous other human pawns. Summoning Dylan upon his return, Soundwave could see that his desires had blossomed: not content purely with money as his father had been, Dylan wanted power. Convergence chapter 4

Dylan poached administrative assistant Carly Spencer from the British Embassy some time after 2009 to serve as his personal assistant. According to her, fighting robots was kids' stuff compared to working for him. Rising Storm issue 4
Seeking to exploit Carly's boyfriend Sam Witwicky's connection to the Autobots for the Decepticons' own evil ends, Dylan arranged a job interview for him at Accuretta Systems, on whose board of directors he had a seat. Visiting Carly at work to tell her the good news, Sam took an immediate dislike to the smarmy Dylan and the closeness he and Carly displayed, feeling further emasculated when he discovered Dylan had set up the interview for him. Dylan even gifted Carly a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and invited the young couple to a party at his estate, but Sam refused to go as he had begun to unravel the lunar conspiracy, though he had no idea Dylan was at the heart of it.

Soon after, when the recently-revived Autobot leader Sentinel Prime revealed his treachery and joined with the Decepticons in using his space bridge to attack Washington, D.C., Sam raced to Dylan's estate to get Carly to safety. There, Dylan finally showed his true colors: The "Mercedes" was revealed to be a disguised Soundwave, who held Carly hostage while Dylan attached a Decepticon watch to Sam's arm, instructing him to learn all he could about the Autobots' plans to fight back. With Carly Dylan's hostage and his nervous system tortured by the watch, Sam was forced to comply. But before leaving, he vowed to kill Dylan. Sam learned that the Autobots were planning to leave Earth with no retaliation due to being exiled at the demands of Sentinel Prime. Content with this information, Dylan gave the signal to Starscream, who blew the Autobots' spacecraft out of the sky, apparently destroying them. Dylan then said "We all work for the Decepticons now".

As the Decepticons set about razing Chicago, turning the city into a fortress, Dylan took Carly to his penthouse and explained that the evil robots were planning to teleport Cybertron into the solar system, and put humanity to work rebuilding the planet: he had secured his and Carly's freedom by selling out his own race. When he tried to watch he was ordered to leave by Megatron ("I hate that guy, he's such a dick"). Dylan was visibly disturbed by the Decepticons' invasion and massacre of Chicago, but when questioned by Carly, all the traitor had to say was that everything was alright, as long as he was safe.

Chicago soon became a battleground, however, when the Autobots' seeming deaths were revealed as a deception, and they helped Sam break into Dylan's penthouse. Sam had Dylan at gunpoint, but Laserbeak entered the room, grabbed Sam and threw him off the side, but he was saved by Bumblebee's commandeered fighter and saved Carly. Dylan later reported the Autobots survival to Megatron himself. As the fighting grew more intense, several Autobots were captured by the Decepticons; formerly having viewed everything as "just business", Dylan urged Soundwave to execute them all for making things personal. Fortunately, the intervention of Brains and Wheelie saved most of the Autobots, and in the renewed fighting that followed, the control pillar for Sentinel's space bridge was shot from its perch and knocked offline.

With the Decepticon ships firing on Optimus, the Autobots battling Sentinel, and the Wreckers handling all ground-bound Decepticons, despite Sentinel's orders, the task fell to Dylan to reactivate the Control Pillar. Dylan made his way to the pillar but Sam tried to interfere, but Dylan pointed Sam's own gun at him. Sam tried to plead with Dylan to not go through with the Decepticons, but Dylan disagreed, stating that now there was no turning back from the future he had helped prepare for himself for years. However a piece of newspaper was caught on his face, providing a distraction and Dylan was forced to fight off Sam to reactivate the pillar. Dylan mockingly asked Sam if he thought he was a hero compared to himself, who had saved all of Cybertron. Sam refused, and struck him with a rebar. Toppling backward into the reactivated pillar, Dylan was fatally electrocuted by its energies.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Sergeant Epps and the other soldiers in Captain Lennox's US Army Ranger squad were returning to SOCCENT Forward Operations Base after some hard duty. When Lennox revealed that he wanted to go home to see his baby girl more than anything else, Epps joined in with the men in teasing their commander. As night fell, a mysterious MH-53 helicopter arrived at the base, and after being surrounded by dozens of troops, it suddenly transformed into a giant robot which proceeded to attack the base. Epps ran and ordered other soldiers to ready combat stations as they were under attack. The giant robot narrowly missed crushing him as he used his digital recorder to take footage of the strange machine. Fellow soldier Figueroa saved Epps by firing a sabot round at the robot, which allowed Epps to escape. Epps linked up with the rest of Lennox's team and the Captain's little buddy Mahfouz and high-tailed it out of the exploding base.

The next morning, the survivors discussed the previous night's events, with Epps sharing with them the images he captured, as well as theorizing that the weapons platform was generating some sort of force field. Sergeant Patrick Donnelly expressed disbelief at this. Epps then shared the unnerving feeling that as he was recording the thing, it stared right back at him, causing an ominous silence to settle among the group. Later that day, as they made their way to local boy Mahfouz's village, Epps spotted a giant metal spike coming out of the sand aimed at Lennox's back and began firing wildly into the sand. After Sergeant Donnelly was impaled and killed by the robotic scorpion, the rest of the men ran for their lives to the cover of the village. Lennox managed to borrow a cell phone from Akram, Mahfouz's father, and asked for Epps's wallet for a credit card to make the call. In between firing rounds from his rifle, Epps barked that it was in his back pocket, prompting Lennox to protest that he had ten back pockets. Epps loudly clarified it was his left-cheek back pocket.

When contact when the Pentagon was established, Epps coordinated with the E-3 Sentry AWACS plane to give orders for the incoming A-10 Thunderbolt IIs of Strike Package Bravo, indicating the target area killbox one-alpha with orange flares and laser guidance markers. As the A-10s arrived to provide air support, he gave them clearance to fire by shouting, "Bring it!" When their weapons completely failed to dent Scorponok, Epps called upon the biggest barrels the Air Force had: the 105 millimeter cannons of an AC-130 Spectre gunship. This was signaled with a shout of "Bring the rain!" The resulting fusillade pounded Scorponok into the sand. As the dust settled, the scorpion got up and dove underground, but not before leaving part of its damaged tail behind.

In the aftermath of combat with Scorponok, Epps and the rest of Lennox's Spec Ops team were ordered home to American soil by Secretary of Defense John Keller, who had thought everyone at the SOCCENT base was massacred. They took the end of Scorponok's tail with them on the flight. Doing their own analysis of the piece of robot body, they discovered that its Self-regenerating molecular armor didn't regenerate where hit by sabot rounds, which Epps confirmed were "something like" a 6000-degree magnesium burn. They called the Pentagon again, telling them all gunships had to be loaded with sabot rounds to fight these things.

Later, Epps and the team landed at Nellis Air Force Base. Instead of them being debriefed on site, a guy from Sector Seven grabbed one of their bags and ordered them to come with him. This was confusing, since Sector Seven didn't exist.

Epps and the team were driven to Hoover Dam, where they stood around looking awesome in their fatigues as other people who knew about the alien robots arrived. Everyone filed inside Hoover Dam, where Sector Seven had been hiding the leader of the evil alien invaders and the AllSpark for 80 years. Upon seeing a thick steel door with triple claw marks in it, Epps pondered whether Freddy Krueger had been in there. A geek pointed out that Freddy Krueger got four claws—that was Wolverine! Shortly thereafter, a kid got in a argument with Seymour Simmons of Sector Seven over whether or not to release the good alien robot who'd been disguised as a Camaro. Lennox attempted to settle the argument by putting his sidearm to Simmons' chest, and Epps backed up his Commanding Officer in the geometrically complex standoff that ensued. When Simmons ordered them to stand down under S7 jurisdiction, Epps pointedly reminded Simmons that S7 didn't exist. They won. Losing wasn't really an option for these guys.

While everyone was still inside Hoover Dam, the Decepticons attacked, knocking out power. All communications were dead as the giant evil robot leader thawed out. After calling the Air Force with Morse code, the only thing left to do was get the All Spark to Mission City, where it could be hidden in the urban jungle until the military arrived to evacuate it by helicopter. Epps complained when handed a couple of very large shortwave radios that they were "Radio Shack dinosaur radios, won't be able to work more than 20 miles." His group then stopped after spotting an F-22 Raptor, which turned out to be alien and unfriendly.

Epps gave their location to some Blackhawk helicopters, but the humans came under attack from a Decepticon tank. As the Autobots attacked the tank, Epps and the rest of the team scrambled to provide support fire and clear the area. Epps instructed the 'copters to pick Sam and the All Spark up from the top of a nearby building. Meanwhile Epps's group continued to fight the tank from the cover of a shop. They narrowly escaped death when that robot Camaro zipped in on the back of a tow truck and saved them all.

Approaching the fight between the big truck robot and the evil robot leader, they encountered the helicopter robot that had killed their comrades in Qatar. After Epps called in the fighter jets, he used a laser marker on the 'copter 'con, only for it to notice him, and he had to evade its weapons until Lennox shot it dead. The team then took part in an attack on the evil robot leader which ended in the kid killing it with the All Spark. Transformers (film)
IDW Transformers movie comics
Shortly after the battle in Mission City, Epps and the rest of Lennox's men became acquainted with the good robots known as the Autobots, in particular the gruff soldier Ironhide, while they hunted rogue Mutations. After the creatures had been destroyed, Epps found an abandoned trailer Optimus Prime could use to transport Jazz's remains out of the city. As Ironhide somberly placed his comrade's body into the container, Lennox, Epps and the men lowered their heads in honour of the 'bot who saved their lives. Just before the Autobots left, Epps was surprised to find Optimus had a driver sitting in his seat. He thought the holographic projection suited Prime perfectly. After they left, Agent Simmons of Sector Seven showed up, wanting to know the details of the battle and offering them a place within the organisation. Epps let Lennox do the talking, but their excuse was ruined when Sam Witwicky called Epps's phone, letting Simmons know the Autobots had escaped. Simmons convinced Lennox and Epps to request the assistance of the Autobots in transporting the Decepticon corpses to their naval yards for disposal. A month later, Epps and Lennox had a secret meeting with Optimus Prime, Ratchet and Ironhide. Epps asked where Bumblebee was, and Optimus told him Bumblebee was continuing to act as Sam's guardian. The Autobots also mentioned having been followed by a police car, which Lennox suggested might have been Barricade. Lennox then informed Prime that the Decepticons' remains were about to be dumped into the ocean, and they wanted the Autobots to escort the transport. Alliance issue 1

Now members of Sector Seven, Epps and Lennox oversaw the transportation of the Decepticon bodies from the base in Nevada to the San Diego US Navy base where they would be taken to the ocean and dumped. When everyone was ready, Epps got the caravan rolling. During the journey, Optimus had second thoughts about leaving the surviving AllSpark fragment with Sector Seven, so Epps was sent with Bumblebee and Ironhide back to the Nevada base to retrieve it. When they got there, the base was leveled by Starscream and a Decepticon named Wreckage. When Starscream opened fire on Epps and another soldier, Bumblebee protected them and just before Starscream could finish them off, he receives a communication from Soundwave, and Starscream then left. Epps later helped carrying the wounded to safety. Alliance issue 2

charstubfiction

Two weeks later, Epps and the others were on board an aircraft carrier where they laid Jazz to rest and disposed of the Decepticons. Optimus asked if the location was secure, and Epps assured him that nothing on Earth could reach the Decepticon remains, and he was certain that anything not from Earth couldn't reach them either. Shortly afterwards, the Autobots and human soldiers in the newly formed NEST began training on the island of Diego Garcia, though it did not go too well.
Alliance issue 3

During the flight, Epps asked Lennox if there was something troubling him, and Lennox explained that two Decepticons had been spotted in the city, but thankfully, there was no mention of robots, so they must be in vehicle mode, but Lennox wondered how their team could do this without drawing attention from bystanders.

After returning to Diego Garcia, Epps meets up with Lennox, who tells him something's going on out there. Epps said they're ready for anything, but Lennox questions this, saying that for all their training, the mission didn't go so well. Epps thinks it could have been worse, but Lennox says that it might get worse, especially with Bumblebee leaving the team to once again guard Sam. Epps is upset, saying that they can't lose team members that came from another planet; Lennox agrees.

During a mission in the Middle East, Epps mourned over the loss of fellow soldier Salani.
The Veiled Threat
Epps traveled to Diego Garcia on the Pearl of India with Lennox, Ironhide and Ratchet, and was amused when Somali pirates attempted to attack them. He was extremely impressed with Kaminari Ishihara's credentials. While storing some energon, he inquired of Ironhide what would happen if it exploded, and was told that not much of India would be left. After Decepticon activity was reported in Zambia, a NEST team including Epps went there to investigate. As the Autobots fought Macerator, Payload and Dropkick in the Zambezi river, Lennox and Epps attempted to shoot the Decepticons with a modified stinger missile launcher loaded with sabot rounds. They didn't get to use it, as Lennox realized the fight was a trap to drag the Autobots over the Victoria Falls. After that battle, Epps used his laptop to track the Decepticons as they moved to attack a dam downstream, allowing the Autobots to move in and try to stop them. Lennox, Epps and Petr Andronov found a dam technician whom they got to release the dam's emergency release, relieving the pressure on the dam and washing Payload away.

Back at Diego Garcia, Epps proudly showed off the hi-tech weapon he was working on to Ironhide, only to be disappointed by the Autobot's response, but he subsequently learned more about how the Autobots created their weaponry. Decepticon activity was detected in Peru, and Epps proceeded there with Andronov, Longarm and Knockout. With the help of local NEST contact Lieutenant Pierre Morales, they settled in, though Epps shouldn't have accepted Morales's invitation to go dining, as cuí turned out to mean roast guinea pig. The next morning on a mountain road, they encountered Blademaster and Ruination. During the fight, Epps was knocked off the side of the mountain by an explosion, but Longarm saved him from a fatal plummet. As Blademaster was subsequently about to terminate Knockout, Epps hit the Decepticon with a sabot round from his launcher and, with some help from Andronov's experimental weapon, Blademaster plunged off the side. After Ruination retreated as well, the team headed back to Cuzco for hot showers.

During the debrief at Diego Garcia, Epps suggested that maybe the US Constitution could be changed so Optimus could run for president, but Lennox pointed out Optimus wasn't US-born. The Autobots were lured to Rome, where Starscream challenged Optimus to a one-on-one duel. It turned out to be a trap, of course, and Starscream left Optimus to Barricade's tender mercies. Luckily Epp, Lennox, Ishihara and Andronov were around to distract Barricade by attacking him, allowing Prime to gain the upper hand, and the four humans escaped the Colosseum via a subway. Transformers: The Veiled Threat

Two years after the battle in Mission City, Epps had joined NEST, and was promoted to the rank of USAF Master Sergeant. Epps was deployed to Shanghai, China to follow a lead on the Decepticons Demolishor and Sideways. Sideways was pursued and dispatched by the newest Autobot arrivals, but Demolishor had escaped the soldiers. Epps called in Big Buddha, to be air-dropped in, and the Autobot leader conquered Demolishor with ease.

Upon return to NEST HQ at Diego Garcia, the liaison to the President, Theodore Galloway, made his very negative position towards the Autobots very clear. Galloway also made it clear he didn't give a damn to whatever defense the soldiers testified, which disgruntled Epps particularly.

Epps' tension towards Galloway only grew stronger after Optimus Prime was killed by the resurrected Megatron: the Decepticon leader's master, The Fallen, came to Earth in full force, killing thousands, and threatening to wreak further havoc should the humans not turn over Sam Witwicky. In response, Galloway returned and declared NEST deactivated, taking Lennox's badge, and ordering the Autobots deported to Diego Garcia.

However, sometime later, Epps and Lennox received a phone call from Seymour Simmons, who through clues revealed Sam had the means to revive Optimus in Egypt. NEST packed up and flew to over the Atlantic, where, much to Epps' delight, they had Galloway thrown out of the plane. NEST airdropped into Egypt, and Epps pondered disbelief at the fact Sam could revive Prime. After some time, a signal flare to Sam's group caught the attention of the Decepticons, who decided to attack NEST in a massive firefight.

During the battle, Epps and Lennox finally met up with Sam and Mikaela, and got the Air Force to carpet bomb the area, killing all Decepticons. Unfortunately, Epps had a bad throw, and the marking smoke where the air strike was to hit was right where they were. Epps and the others made a mad dash to NEST's location, but Megatron broke through the offense, and seemingly killed Sam. However, the boy lived, and revived Optimus with the Matrix of Leadership. Epps bore witness to his subsequent battle and defeat of The Fallen, and congratulated Simmons and Sam's friend for their efforts in helping them fight the Decepticons. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)
With Lennox and his crew searching for Seekers, Epps was left with only Bumblebee to help him investigate an attack on Malmstrom Air Force Base and the disappearance of Optimus. Checking the base inventory, he found out an electromagnetic bomb had been stolen; linking that to the detonation at the Rockies that NEST had detected, he and Bumblebee tracked Prime down to the compound of the sinister Free Men militia. (Poor Epps had to ride in Bumblebee jumping a ravine, and almost spewed up his breakfast) After locating Prime, Epps and Bumblebee hit the Free Men compound hard, swiftly defeating the militia. Transformers Comic issue 2.10

At some point after 2009, Epps quit being a soldier of NEST, and was offered a position working on the Xantium at a NASA launch site. He worked along with the three Wreckers, Leadfoot, Roadbuster and Topspin, whom he would often run interference for their abrasive nature towards other workers.

When the turncoat Sentinel Prime demanded humanity to exile the Autobots, Epps helped to prepare the Autobot ship for launch. He greeted Sam Witwicky warmly, but was weirded out by his strange behavior. He then witnessed the Autobots leave aboard the Xantium, and their supposed annihilation from that alien F-22 they encountered at Mission City and Egypt. In the event's aftermath, Epps heard that Sam was planning on rescuing his girlfriend Carly Spencer from Dylan Gould, the Decepticon liaison who was holding her captive in Chicago. Wanting to get at the guy who had helped kill his pals, Epps decided to go with Sam, and gathered a few friends who had worked with him in NEST and they headed to Chicago.

But when Epps and the others arrived at the Decepticon controlled Chicago, he thought it would have been impossible to rescue her after witnessing the Decepticon's fortification, and attempted to convince Sam that they didn't stand a chance. They were then attacked by a Decepticon fighter, which was brought down by Optimus Prime and the Wreckers. As the rest of the Autobots arrived, they revealed that they had known the Decepticons would never let them go or leave Earth alone and so had hid in a booster rocket that disengaged before the ship was destroyed. Once they had infiltrated the city and Carly had been rescued, Epps managed to get a message through a crashed military drone of the Decepticons' scheme to bring Cybertron into Earth's solar system. He then came up with a plan to destroy the control pillar with a rocket shot from a high building while the Autobots attacked the Decepticons.

Epps and the others made it into a tall building, but before the rocket could be launched, Decepticon fighters began firing at the skyscraper, causing it to tilt, and a Decepticon protoform came in looking for them. Escaping by jumping out of the window and sliding down to a lower floor, the group's presence was discovered by Shockwave. As the "evil thing" sent his pet Driller to finish the building, Epps complained that Decepticons always got the best stuff and ordered his group to try and escape. After their tower slammed into another, Epps and the others escaped as Optimus arrived and killed the Driller. They began rushing toward the building with the pillars, which had started to activate, but Epps and his men were separated from Sam and Carly, which Epps noted had been Eddie's responsibility.

They soon met up with Lennox and a large force of soldiers, and once the bridges had been lowered helped join in the attack. Epps and his team lay in wait as the NEST forces began attacking Shockwave and his forces, and once he was weakened enough Epps ordered his men to open fire on Shockwave, helping to severely damage him. As he and the others attacked the remaining Decepticons and the Space bridge process was stalled by Optimus's attack on the control pillar. As Gould reactivated the Pillar, Epps and the other soldiers were unable to help Sam as they fought, being too busy with the remaining Decepticon forces. But once Sam had killed Gould, Epps, Lennox and the other soldiers arrived, and Epps called for Bumblebee and Ratchet, who destroyed the pillar, causing the partially-formed Cybertron to collapse in on itself.

After Optimus had killed Sentinel Prime and Megatron, Epps then joined the Autobots as they stood as heroes for saving the world. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)
* Despite having been named "Robert" in the course of the first live-action movie (he is referred to as "Bobby" by Figueroa within the first few minutes of the film), and despite the frequent, widespread use of this name on websites describing Tyrese Gibson's role in Revenge of the Fallen, other media has given Epps three different first names.
**A set of Top Trumps game cards released in Europe in 2007 gave the character the first name of Julius. This name would later be re-used in the "Revenge of the Fallen: The Movie Universe" guidebook.
**The Revenge of the Fallen novelization gives Epps the first name of Raymond; this was corroborated by his wife calling him "Ray" in Revenge of the Fallen issue 3, suggesting that the name was in the original script for the film, despite what the previous movie established.
**Another childrens' book lists his first name as Abe.
* In theory he could be Raymond Robert Epps, or Robert Raymond Epps. Or Julius Raymond Robert Epps. His friends call him Bobby, his wife calls him Ray... but he's Julius if you're nasty.
