When on [[Earth]], a [[Transformer]] typically finds a wide variety of [[human]] vehicles matching their general body plan and size available to adopt as a disguise mode. Although there are many thousands of options available, certain specific models of vehicle, however, are very popular disguises, seeing repeated use across multiple individuals and [[continuity|continuities]].

'''Teletraan-1: The Transformers Wiki''' has certain requirements for a vehicle model to be listed here. There must be at least '''three unique toy molds''' (or in-fiction appearances, in the case of non-toy bodies/characters) that share the model. There must also be at least '''one unique character per mold''': [[Bumblebee (G1)|Generation 1 Bumblebee]] has four unique molds as a Volkswagen Beetle, but the only other characters who also become Beetles are all [[redeco]]s of the first toy. Certain models are "lumped" together, such as the case for the Mazda RX car series, which includes the RX-7 and RX-8 types. This also, of course, takes into account the various fudging of the designs that are done in order to get a robot mode out of the toy, as well as avoid having to pay a licensing fee to the actual manufacturers (in most instances).

Each mold is listed on its own line, with all different-character decoes/[[retool]]s on the same line. The list is organized in chronological order of toy release.

This policy is in place mainly due to the rampant use of redecoes as new characters, and is a little out of line with the phenomenon being explored... after all, isn't it kinda weird that out of all the myriad types of fighter jet there are in the world, that the Dassault Rafale in specific seems to pop up so often across soooooo many jet-form toy-characters?

==Something I Noticed==

I see that when new users come in - I did this too - one of the first things they start to do is edit out the silly captions and some of the humor from the Wiki. This is mostly stemming from the transition from Wikipedia and other Wikis to Teletraan-1, since most others have strict no-humor. Is there a way to put up some sort of banner in the "Help Contents" guide, that explains, look, we're silly here sometimes?

First off, you're a monumental asshole. You have an ego the size of a small planet and it's irritating watching you act like an important SOB when you're basically just a nobody.

Hi ItsWalky. Thanks loads for your feedback. Sorry about the date thing. As for the loss of data between the two templates, reordering each of the groups for order of appearance shouldn't be too difficult, just means watching the episode carefully again (unfortunately, when I did the lists of characters for my own TF site, I didn't consider having them in order of appearance and thus alphabetized them right away). With regards to the difference between major and minor characters, I'm not sure I would quite know where to draw the line on who's what in every TF episode. To me, it would seem to depend if the character was regular, is he major or minor for the whole series, season, or just the episode, or if the character was a guest, I could see it likely being just the episode. Perhaps if I knew what guidline Teletraan-1 was using to determine Major/Minor status, I could think of a way to incorporate it into my template. Thanks again for your feedback. Well, the official pictures of the toy wont come out for a LOOOOONG time, so untill then, I'm uploading some bad, blurry ones, because they STILL better than nothing. And I made them with Paint, not Powerpoint.

:I'm not sure about the Season 1 opening credits - by the time we see Prime and co, they are either too indistinct to make out in a wide view, and the camera is already focusing entirely on Prime when they are clear enough for the viewer to see. I'll see what I can do, but I'll have to go through the episodes because the Madman sets use the broadcast masters, so some episodes are almost as clean and colourful as Rhino's, but others aren't so good. Or, more accurately, Beast Wars. I gotta be honest. I'm... not really thinking that including BW is a good idea, and I'm even questioning "beast modes" altogether. I mean... "Bears" is not the same level of specific classification as "Dassault Rafales". Which was kind of the point of the article... "ain't there a lot of Dassault Rafales" is considerably more curious than "ain't there a lot of sorta t-rexes", given the wide variety of fighter jet makes. 
And even with the fudging made to avoid licensing on many a vehicle mode... it's nowhere as much fudging as the likes of the Cheetor mold, which has been used to be a cheetah, a tiger and a panther, three pretty damn different types of big cat. BM probably not either. Most of the organic beast modes are... really, really vague and bad representations of actual animals, as much so as the wholly-mechanical ones where Ravage being a jaguar is mostly a matter of "okay, if you say so". I have to agree with Detour, being a mechanic. Siren/Go Shooter is much more like a FC3S 2nd Generation RX-7 then the Supra. I can see why people might think it's a Mark II or Mark III of Toyota's turn from Celica Supra to just plain Supra, but the FC3S has more of the little details that show that it's more like it. Also the rear lights on the Siren/Go Shooter toy have more of the curvature of a RX-7 FC3S Savanna.

The example you used in your photos is the FB3S, the first generation of the RX-7 line, not a good example. Also the FC3S came without the hood air intake also, just it's difficult to find a photo of one on short notice, the one pictured was the Savanna model, the more sporty version.

Hi, as the self-appointed pics guy (as I probably upload the most pics here), I'd suggest that you use Photoshop to edit out the backgrounds of the MTMTE scans you upload, so we're left with a nice, white background that matches the default colour of the wiki.

I'd also advise you to use copyright tags when uploading images such as:

<nowiki>{{hastak}}</nowiki> for Hasbro/Takara-owned images such as stock toy photos or screencaps.

<nowiki>{{comicinterior}}</nowiki> for comic page scans (which apply for the MTMTE series).

<nowiki>{{comiccover}}</nowiki> for comic covers.

<nowiki>{{fairuse}}</nowiki> for general pictures relating to Transformers but not exactly owned by Hasbro, or its a legal grey area. This can be used when you upload toy photos that you didn't take yourself.

A tip for recognising artists - [[Don Figueroa]] is VERY prolific in the MTMTE series, and you can tell which works are his by by their big hands with vents on the back of them, which are his trademark. Another trademark of his is cyclindrical piping on the edges of limbs, particularly the thighs. Also, most artists tended to be assigned all the art for a particular subgroup or team.

If in doubt, use <nowiki>{{artist?}}</nowiki> and it will be added to the category of art by undetermined artists.

Can you scan a picture of Slog's MTMTE robot mode? I prefer to use some kind of uncluttered 'profile' pic if possible for the main article picture, and comic panels for the fiction section (since there isn't anything there in the Marvel section anyway). Assumign the scan of is good quality, I suggest using the magic wand tool in photoshop to cut out the background, leaving a nice, white crisp background behind the character.

I'm going to request the deletion of the beast mode picture because we can't fit it anywhere in the article, and we should only have one picture up at the start.

I'm bringing this up to you since you seem to be the main person integrating them. It seems unelegant, but at the same time the simplest solution. Could their simply be two navboxes on each (relevant) issue page? One for the US comic, and one for the UK?

It looks like the shared stories are summarized under their US issue numbers, using [[Deadly Obsession]] as a single example. It wouldn't be much to edit these pages to make their UK numberings a bit more prominent; a navbox would actually take care of that fine.

It would also require some minor edits to link seperate second-story-only pages to the stories which they share books with. Just something like "UK issue #254 also contained [[White Fire]]." In the UK, Story X is followed by Story Y. In the US, Story Y wasn't printed and story X is followed by Story W. A UK Navbox would, from X's page, link "Y" as "Next->", and the US would link W as "Next->".

The best possible chance I can think of for finding one would... be on Iggy's old links page, and I wasn't able to pull that up on Internet Archive immediately. Then the story pages can just be story pages, instead of trying to describe what parts of what are in which issue (ie, Perchance is spread across 6 issues. Are we gonna have 6 notes on the Perchance page? "#255 had Part 1 of Perchance and the second part of blah blah whichever story". Sounds messy and to be avoided.)
