Later, in Optimus Prime's absence, [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] took command of the ''Ark'', getting rid of the Autobots who were too loyal to Prime. Blaster remained with the ship on its way to [[Earth]], and was on the bridge when [[Astrotrain (SG)|Astrotrain]] attacked it. Blaster was eager to send the Scrounges out, but Rodimus had other plans. Unfortunately, he was too late; Astrotrain successfully sabotaged the ''Ark'', causing it to plummet to Earth. {{storylink|Do Over}}

After the Autobots recovered from the initial crash, Blaster assisted [[Wheeljack (SG)|Wheeljack]] with the work of repairing the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s systems. He wasn't too pleased with Rodimus' return from his own crash landing elsewhere on the planet. And he was even less pleased when Rodimus and their new human allies the [[Spike Witwicky (SG)|three]] [[Butch Witwicky (SG)|Witwicky]] [[Buster Witwicky (SG)|brothers]] advocated against engaging in "ze plunderingk" of their new home.

But after Rodimus successfully fought [[Goldbug (SG)|Goldbug]] for leadership of the Autobots, Blaster was willing enough to go along with the change in command. He was also willing to help with Rodimus' plan to hold the planet hostage for ransom by hijacking one of the [[Burpleson Air Force Base|humans' military bases]] to gain control of the planet's [[Global Orbital Defense Satellite|destructive defense satellites]].

Blaster thought they could simply send in the Scrounges as their plan of attack, but Rodimus decided to go for a more standard infiltration attempt instead and ordered Blaster to lead a diversion. Blaster headed up a squad of Autobots and Scrounges to attack the base from the outside, while the Witwickys, Rodimus, and two other Autobots attacked the base from the inside by letting themselves get "arrested".

After the base was successfully conquered, Blaster coordinated a mass takeover of Earth's telecommunications systems so Rodimus could broadcast his extortionist demands to the humans.

When the [[Decepticon]]s made an assault to liberate the base, Blaster's squad of Scrounges attempted to keep [[Heatwave]] from reaching the satellite's controller system, but Soundwave pitched in and disabled them with the power of rock. {{storylink|Eye in the Sky}}

Ricochet and Jazz were overseeing the [[smelting pool]] when Optimus Prime and [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] brought [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] to [[Iacon]]. He laughed with the other Autobots when the strangely-behaving Cliffjumper was blasted by Prime for objecting to the execution of [[Rumble (SG)|Rumble]] like a weak Decepticon. Later, during the Decepticon attack on the ''[[Ark (Shattered Glass)|Ark]]'', he was felled by an unknown assailant. {{storylink|Shattered Glass (issue)|Shattered Glass}}

With Optimus Prime rebuilding the ''Ark'', the Decepticons decided to follow the [[Autobot]]s into space in their own spacecraft. Ricochet hatched a scheme to delay the Decepticons by capturing their leader. He thought that if [[Megatron (SG)|Megatron]] was absent, the Decepticons would never take off after the Autobots.

So Ricochet lured Megatron to the [[Temple of Knowledge]]. All the while making sarcastic remarks, Ricochet gained the upper hand with help from his [[Targetmaster]] partner [[Nightstick (SG)|Nightstick]]. Along with [[Scoop (SG)|Scoop]] and [[Holepunch (SG)|Holepunch]], and [[Crosshairs (SG)|Crosshairs]] and [[Pinpointer (SG)|Pinpointer]], Ricochet held Megatron hostage, demanding a ransom from the Decepticons.

The Decepticons, instead of delaying their flight, sent a group of [[Micromaster]]s to rescue Megatron. The gang of small Decepticons harried Ricochet's group.

Optimus Prime discovered Ricochet's plan and was outraged that his subordinate would take away from him the glory of capturing Megatron. Prime left the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s launch site to reprimand Ricochet.

The Micromasters had just disposed of Ricochet's group when Optimus Prime arrived at the hideout. Prime was none too happy with Ricochet's initiative, but chose to take credit for the scheme in front of Megatron. But before Prime could execute his Decepticon rival, the Micromasters busted in, distracting the Autobots long enough for Megatron to escape. Eventually, Megatron won the day, but both the Autobots' ship and the Decepticons' ship had launched without their respective leaders.

Once back at the Ark's launch site, Optimus ordered Scoop to take Ricochet and Crosshairs to the [[Agonizing Rehabilitation Chambers]]. The sadistic smirk was finally wiped off Ricochet's face. {{storylink|Do Over}}
