:Apelinq is a Maximal in the Beast Era portion of Generation 1 continuity.

A participant in the close of the Autobot/Decepticon wars, Apelinq turned to scientific research in Cybertron's new peacetime economy. But in due time, he was called by the Maximal government to lead the resurrection of Cybertron's legendary strike team, the Wreckers. Known for his genius battlefield tactics, Apelinq is a bot of ideas who would rather outwit his opponents than destroy them with brute force. His years in research have jaded him against more spiritual thinking. He doesn't trust mysticism. Apelinq tends to micromanage, to his detriment, and thanks to his solid confidence in his own abilities, can get in over his head.

Apelinq's years in scientific research have armed him well. He carries two impact maces of his own design. He is most famous for his Transfer interlink, an invention that can download digital objects into reality. The limitations of this technology are not yet known, though he uses this ability to achieve his favorite mode of transportation -- through the skies on his "virtual digiboard."

Fiction
Apelinq's War Journals
As the Maximal Elders silence and chaos erupts across Cybertron, Apelinq grew increasingly worried. Marshalls are disappearing left and right and entire sections of populace began to go missing. After the source of the trouble was identified as Megatron, returning from the Beast Wars, Rodimus and the other Wreckers, sans Apelinq, were sent to put him down. Only Rodimus returned alive, his unique Matrix Templar physiology curiously immune to Megatron's virus.

Apelinq used Rodimus' physiology as a starting point for the creation of a countervirus, but suddenly, a new ship arrived through a low-altitude transwarp anomaly on Cybertron. While Rodimus and Apelinq investigated, finding the crew to be Primal Prime and the surviving troops of Primeval Dawn, the group was rushed by the Vehicon General Mirage. Apelinq and Mirage were thrown through the anomaly, landing on a strange organic planet. Apelinq disposed of Mirage, but was separated from the countervirus and his transfer interlink.

Apelinq found himself a captive observer of the Beast Wars. He kept a distance for a long duration, until he bore witness to a battle between Shokaract and the Covenant. He could stand by idle no longer, and Apelinq joined their battle.

The Omega Point
Universe: The Wreckers
After Primal Prime and Ramulus saved Optimus Primal from some Tank Drones, Apelinq appeared and introduced himself to Optimus. He and the others were off to a meeting with the Oracle. A series of cryptic messages were given to the Maximals gathered, and a set of coordinates were beamed into Primal Prime's head. Prime ordered Apelinq to prepare their Autobot shuttle for launch. But just as they arrived, they were ambushed by hordes of Megatron's drones. Shouting the Wreckers' battle cry, Apelinq entered the fray. Backup arrived, and the group lifted off, escaping Cybertron for parts unknown. Departure

On board the shuttle, Apelinq, Arcee, and Ramulus rushed the injured Fractyl to the repair bay. Frustrated with the antiquated Autobot technology, Apelinq used his Transfer Interlink to create CatSCAN. The new medic was able to save Fractyl, but Apelinq was unable to dissolve CatSCAN as he normally would with his creations.

The Wreckers received a homing beacon and followed it to the surface of a planet. Apelinq, Primal Prime, CatSCAN, and Ramulus began a survey. CatSCAN got in some trouble with the locals and was attacked by Tap-Out. Apelinq jumped in to assist, but Glyph entered the scene to sort things out. Glyph and Tap-Out were the only survivors of a survey mission send centuries ago by Rodimus Prime. They were looked after by the native Akalouthans while studying their culture.

These natives were expecting the Wreckers. According to prophesies, protectors would arrive to guard the Divine Light. Apelinq's analysis found the Divine Light to be a sort of battery, but with unusual properties. Intending to use the Divine light to help get their shuttle back into space, The Wreckers were surprised to find their comrade Rotorbolt nearly off-line. Apelinq, Ramulus, and Devcon rushed to the Divine Light's chamber in time to witness the traitorous Cyclonus make off with the treasure. Betrayal

Fan Club Cybertron comics
Apelinq is never shown in his indivudal robot mode. He is only ever seen as the head of Sentinel Maximus, or in vehicle mode towing the "armored transport" around.
Beast Machines
*Apelinq (Mega, 2000)

: Apelinq is a redeco of the Beast Wars Mega Transmetal version of Optimus Primal, transforming into a robotic gorilla. He also has a third "transport" mode, where his robot legs unfold into a "virtual digiboard" for his gorilla form to ride. The thruster for the board becomes a handheld spring-loaded missile launcher, which uses Apelinq's twin maces for ammunition.

: Apelinq was available as an exclusive toy to 2000.

Universe
*Sentinel Maximus with Ape-Linq Mini-Con (Ultra, 2004)

: A retooling of the Armada Mini-Con Roll-Out, Ape-Linq transforms into an armored personell carrier capable of towing the larger "armored transport" mode of Sentinel Maximus. He also has a hand-held gun mode, plus forms the head and central torso of the combined Sentinel Maximus robot mode. His head was completely retooled to resemble a fully-mechanical version of the original Apelinq toy's noggin, plus the larger Sentinel Maximus robot head was given wholly-new tooling as well. Naturally, he was only available with Sentinel Maximus.

: The set was a planned exlcusive to OTFCC 2004, but was not produced in time for the show. After the convention license was revoked from 3H's ownership, Hasbro eventually mailed out the paid-for Sentinel Maximusses (Maxmimi?) in new packaging.

Trivia
* The original planned name for the Universe incarnation of Apelinq was Hyper-linq, which was printed on the proposed boxes shown at OTFCC 2004. However, when Hasbro created new packaging for the toy, they went with the name "Ape-Linq".
:Vector Prime is an Autobot character in the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Vector Prime is Primus's appointed guardian of time and space. 25 million years old, the clockwork-covered Transformer is one of the 13 original Transformers. Despite his age, Vector Prime is very powerful, and can warp both space and time, though excessive use of this power can severely weaken him.

Vector Prime was once a holder of the Matrix of Leadership before he left Cybertron to guard space and time, a lonely job which isolated him from Cybertronian culture for tens of millions of years. Though he has rejoined the timestream on occasion to protect it from large-scale dangers, his extraordinary exile has left him emotionally, culturally, and politically disconnected from his race. He speaks in archaic terminology steeped in chivalry from an age long past and is unfamiliar with the Autobot/Decepticon war. Despite this disconnect, Vector Prime never forgets that these strange modern creatures are the reason he guards space and time so fiercely. It is the miracle of time that allows these precious lives to continue.

Vector Prime has a "Guardian Mini-Con" called Safeguard, and is also responsible for the Recon Mini-Con Team.

Animated continuity
Fun Publications Cybertron comic
During the long dormancy of Primus and Unicron at the beginning of time, Vector Prime retreated from the march of history to prepare for when his skills would once again be called upon. From this isolation he watched the greatest victories and defeats of the Transformers race across the various timelines, intervening only when his hand was needed to preserve the balance of time. (For example, Vector Prime helped mend Generation 1 Optimus Prime and repair the timestorm that Predacon Megatron had unleashed in the Beast Wars.) However, the awakening of Primus and Unicron returned Vector Prime to active service, following the wake of Unicron across the multiverse to prevent or restore what damage the Dark God had inflicted with its contaminating presence.

After the Powerlinx Battles, Primus attempted to lock Unicron's essence away in the center of a newborn sun, but this plan backfired and the sun collapsed into a black hole, also known as the Unicron Singularity. This threatened the multiverse itself, so Vector Prime was called back to Cybertron to assist the Autobots in locating artifacts which would destroy the black hole.

During the Autobots' search, Vector Prime would routinely confer with Alpha Trion on their progress. During one such visit, Ramjet and Nemesis Prime, followers of Unicron, attacked them, heavily damaging Alpha Trion and destroying Vector Sigma. It was Ramjet's plan that Nemesis Prime would unleash his Dead Matrix to destroy their Creator, and so the two travelled to the chamber deep within Cybertron that housed Primus' essence. Vector Prime and Sentinel Maximus met and battled them there. Vector Prime and Ramjet's fight left the chamber and ended ultimately high above Cybertron. Though Vector Prime was able to defeat Ramjet and seal him away in another dimension, this act weakened him considerably. The guardian of space and time returned to the Autobots on Earth and left Cybertron in the care of Over-Run, a Mini-Con who had taken the reins of what remained of Vector Sigma.

Cybertron
Special Attacks: Repulsion Field/Action Field, Time Relief

When Vector Prime discovered that Unicron's destruction had resulted in a black hole that threatened existence itself, his role as Guardian of Time and Space compelled him to set forth to fix it using the Omega Lock and the four Cyber Planet Keys, forged from the spark of Primus himself. Of course, the fact that these ancient artifacts were lost several million years ago presented certain problems. As a result, he returned to Cyberton in an attempt to enlist some help, and encountered the charismatic Megatron, who tricked Vector Prime into handing over the Planet Map to the Decepticons. Immediately thereafter, Vector Prime realized the Decepticons were actually kind of jerks, and joined the Autobots. Vector Prime was vital to the Autobot cause, as he could create small-scale Space Bridges with his sword, as well as force fields with the aid of his Universal Cyber Key. On one occasion, when Megatron killed Jolt, Six-Speed, and Reverb, Vector Prime turned back time to save them, although this caused him great strain. Later, he would find the Omega Lock in the spaceship Atlantis, and get it back.

spoiler

In a heroic sacrifice, Vector Prime overloaded his time-travel powers to send the stranded Autobots back to a point before they arrived on Gigantion. Sadly, this incredible strain spelled the end of his physical existence, and he became One With Time Itself. He would not be seen again, but, from Beyond Time, he gave his sword to Optimus Prime in Prime's final battle with Galvatron.

In the "what happens to everybody after the show ended" scenes from the show's final episode, Vector Prime can be seen dueling with Galvatron in what is presumably a Battle of the Dead Guys somewhere in the Allspark.

Real world
At some undetermined point in Vector Prime's life, he took the time to answer a series of questions about himself, other Transformers, and the Transformers: Cybertron toyline in a recurring feature on Hasbro's official Transformers website called "Ask Vector Prime". Because of his mastery of time and space it is impossible to determine when exactly he visited -- or perhaps merely communicated with -- our universe, but it may have been during the course of events in the Cybertron animated series, as he answers questions regarding those events and other characters who he had not met before the series began. Alternatively, he may have answered the questions after the conclusion of the series from within the Allspark, which is known to be a dimensional nexus of sorts.
* Vector Prime (Voyager, 2005)
:Japanese ID number: GC-03

: First released in Japan, Vector Prime transforms into a large cybertronic space cruiser with "solar panel" wings, his shape seemingly taking cues from both the Beast Wars starship Axalon and the Star Wars Sith Infiltrator. His nosecone has a spring-loaded missile launcher at the tip. He is also one of the few early molds in the series to have Mini-Con Powerlinx plugs. Inserting his unique Cyber Planet Key in either mode activates electronic sounds. He comes with his Mini-Con partner Safeguard.

: Vector Prime has some significant differences between the Takara and Hasbro releases. Takara's release uses a matte gray plastic with a lighter, burgundy-tinted brown, uses firmer plastic for his clear-blue parts, and has more intricate paint applications. Hasbro's release has a higher-contrast color scheme of white with chocolate-brown, more flexible clear-blue plastic (for safety reasons), and less-intricate paint applications.

* Vector Prime vs Starscream (Multi-pack, 2005)

: The Vector Prime in this Toys 'R' Us exclusive set is identical to the regular-retail version, even though the Starscream is not only a mold not available at normal US retail, but is in an entirely new coloration not used for its Japanese release.

* Vector Prime (Legends of Cybertron, 2006)

: As part of the Legends of Cybertron line, Vector Prime is a miniature, heavily-simplified version of the Voyager-class toy, yet retaining much of the sculpted detailing. He was part of the third wave of product, the first wave to be sold outside of "market six" stores and in "big box" chains like Toys 'R' Us and K-Mart.

* Galaxy Force Vector Prime (Voyager, 2006)

: Not to be confused with the Galaxy Force release of Vector Prime, Galaxy Force Vector Prime is a matte gold redeco of Vector Prime released near the end of the Cybertron toyline. His transparent blue parts were changed to transparent orange, and he has the same number of paint applications as the original Cybertron Vector Prime toy.

* Vector Prime (Jollibee Kids Meal, 2007)

: Available exclusively form the Jollibee restaurant chain in the Phillipines, this small scale, extremely simplified version of Vector Prime was sold under the subline Transformers Cybertron Robot Blasters. Similar to the Legends of Cybertron version, the Robot Blasters Vector Prime has an even more simplified transformation sequence and less articulation and paint detailing. However he impressively retains a significant amount of Vector Prime's sculpted detailing.

: Part of the first assortment of Attacktix Transformers-series Booster packs, Vector Prime is an "Ultra-Rare" 40-point Leader piece that uses a "shield missile" attack. His Special Power allows you to instantly remove up to two of your opponent's in-play Insecticons. Like all Boosters, he was available only in blindpacked sets with two pieces in each box, one Rare and one Super-Rare (your odds of getting a Vector are one in twelve).

: This version uses the Takara coloration of gray with a metallic burgundy; pictures of a more Hasbro-release-like white-and-brown redeco have been shown, but it is currently unknown how this version will be released.
Trivia/Notes
*"Vector Prime" was the originally proposed name for Sentinel Maximus, going so far as to be printed on Sentinel Maximus' shipping cases.

*According to the Hasbro panel at Botcon 2006, Vector Prime's head was largely based around the Autobot insignia. At one point in the design process, a flip-down battle mask identical to the Autobot symbol was proposed.

:Dogfight is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Dogfight is tough, unflinching, and extremely aggressive. He is a skilled air warrior, and with grim humor will refer to a hard-fought aerial combat as a "dance of doom". Violent-tempered and easily provoked, he is extremely protective of his personal airspace, and will readily attack any who approach him with unclear intentions.

Dogfight's short temper is not all there is to him, however, nor is he a purely ruthless fighter like Sunstreaker. He does value life; he does value friendship. He knows from sad experience that the merest indecision on a warrior's part may bring defeat in battle, perhaps permanently. Worse, it may mean deactivation or damage to friends, or to non-combatant bystanders. At the same time, he knows that rashness may bring the same result. So, while his quick temper does control him at times, at others he uses it to motivate him, and in the midst of rushing madly upon an enemy he will do his level best to preserve a fragment of his wits, and to fight with lethal skill as well as fury. He is a dangerous opponent.

Besides his temper, his greatest weakness is his great flying skill. Like Powerglide, he is an aerial acrobat who can often outmaneuver a larger foe or one with heavier weapons or stronger armor; even one who is faster in level flight. Such airborne acrobatics earned him his name, but can also earn him a mid-air stall, and a potentially fatal fall. So far, he has managed to recover from these.

Marvel Comics continuity
Generation 1
When Optimus Prime was still a junior commanding officer, he led Dogfight and the other Triggerbots on a quest to acquire the knowledge and power of the Underbase. During this quest, Dogfight became the latest in a long series of flying characters inexplicably undone by a hole in the ground.

Some millions of years later, he became involved with the Matrix Quest with his fellow Triggerbots after escaping Decepticon custody. On the planet Cheyne, Dogfight intervened when a group of armed riders were seen chasing down a helpless child. The Triggerbots easily outgunned the riders and drove them off. Hud, the boy's father, invited the Autobots to come into his home and freshen up before heading out. Despite the urgency of their mission, Dogfight and the others agreed. As the night wore on, the Triggerbots learned from Hud about how he and his family had been chased off their last homeworld by a political upheaval, and came to Cheyne to settle and build a simple farming life. The riders represented a land development interest who wanted to buy out their farm, and weren't willing to take "No" for an answer. Despite having a vague recollection of somewhere they needed to be, the Triggerbots allowed themselves to be convinced to stay the night and, the next morning, to help work the fields.

When Hud needed to go into town for supplies, Dogfight quickly volunteered to go along with him as protection. While there, he was confronted by a hostile group of robots, demanding to know about something called "the Matrix". Dogfight at first ignored their confusing words, and began firing upon them to protect his friend. Still, these new robots seemed strangely familiar, like something nagging at the back of his central processor. Lost in his own confusion, Dogfight was tossed aside by the robots once they realized he knew nothing of their prize. With Hud having run away in the scuffle, Dogfight was found by the riders who had confronted him earlier. As his mind began to clear, they explained that Hud's family weren't all that they pretended to be. Dogfight realized that Hud had been manipulating his mind and molding his behavior to suit the family's needs. They had pierced his outer gruff nature by toying with his deep inner desire for a peaceful life and an end to the fighting.

Feeling violated, and having regained enough composure to confront his "hosts", Dogfight returned to the farm and forced Hud to reveal his true, hideous form. It seems the family were Vrobians, psychic vampires growing fat by feeding off of the tasty Matrix-energy found in the Autobots' sparks. Dogfight was forced to defend himself against Hud, and the alien was killed in a blaster explosion. Backstreet and Override similarly had to...deal with the rest of the family, for their own survival. The Triggerbots were left feeling empty inside, and no closer to finding the Matrix than they had been when they started.

Dreamwave Comics continuity
In the Age of Internment, Dogfight was one of the few Autobots left free on Cybertron. He served under Blaster and Perceptor's command as they simultaneously tried to track down the missing Optimus Prime and find a way to eliminate Megatron's cloned Aerospace Extermination Squadron.

IDW Comics continuity
Dogfight was called upon to crew Optimus Prime's mission to Cybertron on-board the Ark-27, and he was just so gosh-darn grateful for the opportunity. It was like a dream come true for him. His next dream is for Optimus to actually remember his name. Surprisingly, he did not tragically die in the mission that followed.
Generation 1
*Dogfight (Triggerbot, 1988)

:Dogfight transforms from robot to hypercritical-winged Grumman X-Z9 fighter jet. Activating his Triggerbot gimmick rotates his wings to a swept configuration and exposes a pair of large cannons with a geared jackspring mechanism.

Trivia
* It has been speculated that Dogfight was originally supposed to be a Triggercon, not a Triggerbot. His unchromed, geared-jackspring-activated guns line up with the two ground-based Triggercons, while the Decepticon flier Windsweeper's chromed, spring-loaded guns would make him seem a more likely match with the Autobots.
