==Synopsis==
[[Image:DisasterBaseExplodes exploding dish.jpg|thumb|left|200px|No! Now how will I watch ''Survivor: New York''?!]]
With the [[Autobot|Autobots]] in disarray thanks to the machinations of the [[Decepticon]] mole [[Clouder]], [[Giga]] unleashes "Operation: Dark Base of the Lighthouse" and initiates an all-out attack on the Autobots' [[Autobot Base (Masterforce)|undermanned headquarters]]. Heavy fire from [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]]'s base mode and attacks from the [[Headmaster Junior|Headmaster Juniors]] cripple the Autobots' defense systems, causing fires to spread throughout the complex. [[Minerva]] is horrified to discover that the captive Clouder's cell is amongst the blocks that has caught fire and rushes to activate the sprinkler systems and save him, even as her comrades attempt to extinguish the other fires. [[Metalhawk]] tries to monitor the damage done to the base when another missile strike hits the control room and the computers explode in his face, knocking him unconscious.

[[Image:DisasterBaseExplodes Minerva waters Clouder.jpg|thumb|right|200px|"What is it? I'm trying to water the prisoner!"]]
Miles from the base, in a city, [[Ginrai]] and [[Godbomber]] are busy battling [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]], totally unaware of the threat their teammates are facing. Lasers, kicks and beams of [[Chōkon Power]] are exchanged until the [[Godmaster]] brothers merge into [[Darkwings]] for an aerial attack. Ginrai downs them with a massive blast of Tenchōkon Power, but as they spiral out of the sky in a smoking wreck, the voices of Mega and Giga crackle over Ginrai's comm-link. The Decepticon leaders are beginning the second stage of the attack, for which Ginrai must be present, and they alert him to the situation at the Autobot base. After quickly instructing [[Ranger]] and [[Road King]] to remain behind and continue the rescue operations in the city, Ginrai heads back to aid his friends with Godbomber and [[Lightfoot]] in tow.

[[Image:DisasterBaseExplodes Overlord stomps Ginrai.jpg|thumb|left|200px]]
Back at the base, the Autobot Headmaster Juniors have hooked up Metalhawk to medical equipment, but Minerva sees the situation as hopeless and suggests that they abandon their headquarters. [[Shūta Gō|Shūta]] opposes the idea, as the base is his father's creation. Thankfully, they gain a momentary respite from the enemy bombardment when Ginrai and company arrive, prompting Overlord to transform to robot mode to take on the Autobot leader directly. In the midst of their battle, Overlord sends a transmission to the waiting [[King Poseidon]], who separates into his component [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacon]] parts. As Overlord cackles that phase two has begun, the Seacons burrow their way through the mountain and swarm into the heart of the Autobots' base! The whole mountain quakes and begins to crumble as they tear through its structure, heading for the magma energy converter that is its central power core. A [[Lobclaw]] rips into the converter, causing it to explode, cutting power to the base. Clouder finds that the shackles holding him have deactivated, but he is promptly buried in rubble as [[Turtler]] seals off all the entrances to the complex, leaving everyone inside trapped.

[[Image:DisasterBaseExplodes escaping on Godbomber.jpg|thumb|right|200px]]
Meanwhile, Ginrai and Overlord continue their battle, and Ginrai merges with Godbomber finally to bring Overlord down. Just then, Lightfoot radios Ginrai, informing him that the entire base will explode within ten minutes and that the other Autobots are trapped inside. Overlord gloats that although he may have been defeated in battle, the ''true'' objective of the mission, the destruction of the Autobot base, which Ginrai failed to recognize, will succeed. Angry over his own short-sightedness, Ginrai directs Lightfoot and the others to gather on the top level of the structure, and they do so, with Minerva pausing to unearth Clouder and take him with them in the process. Once at the highest point, they gather in front of a large, reinforced viewing window and watch as Ginrai God-Punches Overlord to the ground, disconnects from Godbomber, and aims the God Cannon...at the base! Ginrai blasts open a fissure leading right to the magma converter, partially allowing its building energy to escape, delaying the explosion long enough for Godbomber to fly up and airlift the Autobots to safety. Then, Ginrai picks up Overlord and hurls him into the mountain, just as the magma converter finally explodes, hurling the Decepticon leader over the horizon and reducing the Autobot base to so much ash and ruin.

Although their headquarters have been destroyed, the Autobots take heart in the fact that they are at least alive and healthy. Clouder looks over the blackened crater that was the base in dismay over how he allowed himself to be used by the Decepticons and abandoned by them, at which point Ginrai approaches him. The apologetic Clouder announces his desire to work with the Autobots, and Ginrai accepts his offer. Clouder vows that they will meet again and departs as the run rises.
==Notes==
===Animation or technical errors===
* Considering the pounding the Autobot base takes, isn't it surprising that its camouflage covering of trees stays completely intact?
* King Poseidon's face is completely green, same as the rest of his head, when Giga and Mega tell him to start his part of the plan.
* When Ginrai lays out Overlord and jams his guns in the Decepticon's face, the Overlord's nose is blue instead of grey.

===Continuity errors===
* Not really an error, but... where in ''fun'' are the rest of the Pretenders when all of this is going on? Let me guess: [[Lander]]'s on a date, [[Diver (Masterforce)|Diver]]'s taking a nap (''again''), and [[Phoenix]] is in his place that ''no one'' knows about. Some warriors they are.
* Similarly, where are the Decepticon Pretenders? You'd think it'd be all hands on deck for something like attacking the enemy's main base.

===Continuity notes===
* Clouder was installed within the Autobot ranks in "[[Appearance!! The Final Godmaster]]".
* This is the first time in a ''very'' long time that we've heard Shūta refer to his father, [[Professor Gō]], who died ''waaay'' back in "[[Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt]]".
* It is also ''not'' the first time that Ginrai has accepted a [[Sixknight|former ally]] of the Decepticons into the Autobots with absolutely no reservations or concern. Trusting sort, that Ginrai. That sort of trust'll get your base blown up. Mmn.

===Miscellaneous trivia===
* This episode features the debut of the insert song, "[[We Believe Tomorrow|WE BELIEVE TOMORROW]]". [[Engrish]] at its finest! You believe tomorrow ''what''?
* The phrase "dark base of the lighthouse" derives from the fact that the space around you gets darker the closer you get to a lighthouse. It has a similar meaning to "not being able to see the forest for the trees"—i.e., not being able to see the bigger picture.

==Overview==
{{ongoing}}
With their members running low on energon and slowly being captured by [[Skywatch]], tension is high amongst the [[Autobot]]s. After a rescue raid led by [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] results in [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]]'s death, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] surrenders to Skywatch. Hot Rod takes the opportunity to try and leave the planet, and several others join him. Those who remain elect [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] as their new leader. Hot Rod's group is attacked by Decepticons who were left behind or who arrived on Earth after their main force left. However, they decide that fighting is senseless and agree to work together to try and escape from Earth. Meanwhile, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] arrives to investigate the death of Ironhide and surrender of Optimus. More Autobots, fearing they will be arrested by Magnus, also go AWOL, but most of them are captured by Skywatch and used as a bargaining tool by [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]] to force information out of Optimus Prime. Ultra Magnus decides to go after Hot Rod. [[Thundercracker (G1) |Thundercracker]], having been shot down by [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] [[All Hail Megatron issue 12|three years previously]], starts to develop admiration for Earth and its inhabitants. Meanwhile, Magnus arrives at Hot Rod's camp and attempts to capture [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]], but is stopped by Hot Rod. He also fails in trying to get Hot Rod to disassemble the ship his party is building to get off Earth.

==Creative team==
The series is written by [[Mike Costa]], who penned two of the stories in ''All Hail Megatron Coda''. Line-art is provided by fan-favorite, [[Don Figueroa]], officially marking his return from Transformers hiatus. Don's art has been modified somewhat to make the Transformers more technically complex (more like the [[live-action film series|movie 'bots]]) but still recognizable to their classic designs. [[James Brown]] provides colors. Alternate covers for issues 2–7 are by Transformers veteran [[Andrew Wildman]].
[http://saltares.deviantart.com/ Javier Saltares] has been named as the artist for issue 8 [http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/idw-publishing-june-2010-transformers-comic-solicitations/18096/], with [[Guido Guidi]] drawing the next story arc [http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/idw-publishing-july-2010-transformers-comic-solicitations/18387/].
==Items of note==
* In early November 2009, IDW released a three page preview of the issue... from the ''end'' of the comic, instead of the front like they normally do. That's right, the company ''itself'' released major spoilers that blew the ending of the first issue. <ref>http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=23587</ref> Head editor [[Andy Schmidt]] stated the reason for this was "we realized that we need to let people know why this book is important." <ref>http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=23606</ref>

* ''The Transformers'' is constantly advertised as IDW's first ongoing ''Transformers'' comic series, which is weird considering that IDW stressed over and over after the release of [[Infiltration issue 0|''Infiltration'' #0]] that that was the start of an ongoing series and not just a miniseries.{{fact}}
The IDW universe brings [[Transformer]]s into the modern day; the traditional "crashed on Earth 4 million years ago" approach is not used. Alternate forms are largely updated to modern-day vehicles, with robot modes reworked accordingly.

The series is notable as a much more "cloak-and-dagger" world than many previous iterations of ''Generation 1''. Earth is initially portrayed as simply one of many battlegrounds in a galaxy-spanning war of subversion and conquest. Also of note is that there is a reason Cybertron is not the site of conflict: the planet is a deserted wasteland, a result of the devastation it suffered in the war. The Decepticons follow a [[Infiltration protocol|strict protocol]] of infiltration as they attempt to take over alien worlds. [[Alternate mode]]s serve a very real and important purpose of disguise, as discovery by natives is strictly forbidden by both factions. Open conflict is rare, and battles are often fought entirely in vehicle forms.

The story opens on Earth, as the Decepticons there have discovered a wildly powerful source of energy, and break protocol to secure it. This soon brings both [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] to the planet, escalating the conflict. The [[human]]s are deeply involved as well, both innocent bystanders and active covert organizations such as the [[Machination]] and [[Skywatch]]. Various plot threads, many of them outlined in the ''Spotlight'' series of one-shots, continually thread into the main story, and echoes of the Transformers' dark and distant past begin to gather strength as well.

====Cast====
The series initially was not constrained by the needs of portraying a current toyline, allowing great freedom in cast selection.

The story opened with an assortment of the more familiar 1984 [[Autobot]]s operating on Earth, with some of their standard 1984/85 [[Decepticon]] foes also present. But the free format allowed fan favorites such as [[Nightbeat (G1)|Nightbeat]] and the [[Battlecharger]]s to be thrown into the mix, and even almost random additions as [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] and [[Dogfight]] have played roles as the setting expanded and more Transformers headed to Earth. Many of the latter-day ''Generation 1'' cast have been shown fighting the war on worlds other than Earth, and even a few ''[[Generation 2 (franchise)|Generation 2]]'' Autobots have made appearances.

==== New alternate modes ====
Initially, most of the Transformers seen in this continuity featured [[alternate mode]]s updated to the modern day. Here are some examples:

* [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]]: Dodge Sprinter ambulance
* [[Runamuck (G1)|Runamuck]] and [[Runabout]]: Chevrolet Camaro SS
* [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]], [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]: F-22 "Raptor"
* [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]]: Nissan 350Z police car
* [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]]: Lamborghini Diablo
* [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]]: Current-model Porsche 911 (aka 997)
* [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]]: had a new modern diesel engine train mode.
* [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]: Sony personal media player
* [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] started as a Cybertronian hot rod, but was reformatted into a Dodge Viper upon settling down on Earth.
* [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] started in his familiar Cybertronian self-propelled artillery mode before being reformatted into a wheeled Earth armored vehicle (possibly a [[wikipedia:Pandur 8X8 APC|Pandur 8X8 APC]]).

{{note|In possibly an art error, one of the covers for [[Infiltration issue 0|''Infiltration'' #0]] features Jazz with his original Porsche 935 hood/chest, though it's possible that at the time IDW and artist [[E. J. Su]] hadn't finalized the designs yet.}}

=====Exceptions=====
There were also numerous robots that retained the looks of one or both of their "classic" G1 modes. A few examples:
* [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] (although he possesses a new transformation scheme, making for a different looking robot mode to his most familiar appearances)
* [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]
* [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], though he started in his Cybertronian form, similar to his look in [[Dreamwave Productions|Dreamwave]]'s ''[[The War Within]]''. Note, however, that even in his "classic" mode Prime is given a sun visor on his cab roof/chest and an overall more streamlined and modern truck mode.
* [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]], [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] and [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] have their familiar modes, due to their travel to Earth in 1984.
* [[Sixshot]]

====Technology====
Several aspects of Transformer technology have been refurbished for the series.

Most prominently, the "facsimile circuitry" dummy drivers shown in the ''Generation 1'' [[Marvel Comics continuity]] have been replaced by sophisticated solid-light projections composed of "[[holomatter]]". Holomatter generators are built into each member of the Autobot contingent on Earth; they can function as an avatar for their respective Autobot, even quite some distance away, allowing the Autobots to covertly interact with a planet's natives.

The Decepticons, in a similar vein, make use of [[Facsimile Construct|facsimile constructs]] — synthetic humans grown in special pods from the bodies and minds of kidnapped "template" humans. These replicas are used to destabilize the societies of planets the Decepticons wish to conquer.

Both sides also possess a variant of teleportation technology, seen for example when Megatron travels to Starscream's [[Oregon]] command bunker. This "[[orbital jump]]" can apparently be coordinated from an ''[[Ark (disambiguation)|Ark]]'' spacecraft or the Decepticons' bunker headquarters. Nightbeat describes it as "not the most pleasant way to travel".

[[Size changing]] is a rarity, generally abandoned in these energy-short times. Megatron, originally possessing a tank mode, is encouraged by the energy-rich [[Ultra-Energon|Ore-13]] and takes on a size-changing alternate form when he arrives on Earth. His transformation sequence and its attendant mass-displacement process consumes a great deal of energy, and is thus surprising to the Autobots who observe it. Why Soundwave and his cassettes utilized it remains unknown, though perhaps it was a necessity to further his role as a spy.

Conversely, certain technologies did not yet exist at the series' starting point. Gestalt ([[combiner]]) technology had only appeared as a long-ago experiment, which yielded only the barbaric [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]]. [[Pretender]] technology had likewise appeared only as a failed experiment, and [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] and similar binary-bonding tech makes its debut after years of covert and illegal development. All of these technologies appear to bestow greatly-enhanced power on the users, to the point that [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]] devastated the entire planet of Cybertron with his Pretender shell, and Monstructor easily defeated [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]].

====Soft reboot====
The "-ations" arcs were written by [[Simon Furman]], and included: ''[[Infiltration]]'', ''[[Stormbringer (comics)|Stormbringer]]'', ''[[Escalation (IDW)|Escalation]]'', ''[[Devastation (IDW)|Devastation]]'', ''[[Revelation (IDW)|Revelation]]'', and ''[[Maximum Dinobots]]'' Furman intended ''Revelation'' to be longer and to be followed by another miniseries called ''Expansion'', but due to pressure by IDW, the 2 series were compacted into ''Revelation'', with ''Maximum Dinobots'' following up to tie up some loose plot threads. At this point, IDW decided to change things up and give new readers a jumping on point...

===''All Hail Megatron''===
''All Hail Megatron'' takes place about a year after ''Maximum Dinobots'' and introduces a situation where the Autobots are not on Earth and the Decepticons are free to rain destruction on the planet. Written by newcomer [[Shane McCarthy]], the series initially seemed to ignore much of the previous continuity, with the cast stripped down to the major players from 1984–1986. The result was a series that was "controversial" with the established fandom, to say the least.

====Alt mode retrofits====
Many alt modes were also retrofitted to be more in line with the old 80s cartoon, or to promote the then-selling line of ''[[Universe (2008 franchise)|Universe]]'' toys. For example:
* The Seekers take the form of the older F-15 "Eagle", reflecting their ''Masterpiece'' toys for no apparent in-story reason.
* Prowl and Hound were upgraded to their ''Universe'' toys.
* [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]] and Sideswipe: upgraded to a Lamborghini Gallardo to match their ''Universe'' toys.
* [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]]: downgraded to a steam locomotive for no logical reason.
* [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]: reverted to his classic cassette mode for dubious reasons.
* [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] was badly damaged by the end of ''Maximum Dinobots'' and seems to have taken his classic G1 form upon recovery.

====''Another'' soft reboot====
After nearly half its run "All Hail Megatron" fairly abruptly started referring back to continuity points from Furman's run, but the continuity between the series remained a definite rough spot and IDW eventually announced they would be extending the series with a series of half-issue stories designed to help bridge the gaps. Once the series finished for good, IDW wanted yet another new jumping-on point for fans...

===Ongoing series===
The new Transformers ongoing series features a new writer, [[Mike Costa]], and takes place 2 years after ''All Hail Megatron''. Artist [[Don Figueroa]] returned and debuted a new take on Transformer designs that seems to reformat the entire cast yet again, giving them a very different, mechanically complex design-style more along the lines of the [[Transformers (2007)|live-action movie series]] while still maintaining basic Generation 1 character likenesses. However, IDW has stated{{fact}} that they allow their artists great freedom in drawing the characters as they see fit and thus Don's designs are a stark contrast to the style used by Chee in the Bumblebee miniseries (more G1 but with some nods to the previously established designs) and Roche's designs in ''[[Last Stand of the Wreckers]]'' (which continue the styles from the -ations and ''All Hail Megatron'') even though all three series are concurrent. In fact, these drastic changes have led to some embarrassing inconsistencies such as [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] having an Earth car mode in the third issue of the ongoing and his Cybertronian mode in the second issue of Bumblebee, which takes place directly afterward.

==Media==
The continuity includes the following mini-series, listed in approximate ''chronological'' order:

* ''[[Megatron Origin]]'' — A four-issue miniseries. Megatron rises from a laboring miner to founder and leader of the [[Decepticon]] faction.
* ''[[Infiltration]]'' — A seven-issue miniseries (issues #0 to #6). On Earth, the Decepticons have discovered a potent new power source, and risk everything to exploit it.
* ''[[Stormbringer (comics)|Stormbringer]]'' — A four-issue miniseries (issues #7 to #10). On the burnt-out husk of Cybertron, [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]] works to revive the ultra-powerful but crazed Thunderwing.
* ''[[New Avengers / Transformers]]'' — A four-issue miniseries. The Earth Autobots team up with the superhero squad the [[Avengers|New Avengers]] to confront the Decepticons in the country of [[Latveria]].
* ''[[Escalation (IDW)|Escalation]]'' — Sequel to ''Infiltration''. Six-issue miniseries (issues #11 to #16). The war on Earth breaks out into open conflict as the Decepticons attempt to make use of the newly-discovered Ore-13.
* ''[[Devastation (IDW)|Devastation]]'' — Sequel to ''Escalation''. Six-issue miniseries (issues #17 to #22). Megatron throws caution and protocol to the wind, unleashing his ultimate warrior, Sixshot, on the Earth-based Autobots.
* ''[[Revelation (IDW)|Revelation]]'' — Sequel to ''Devastation'', presented as a special series of four ''[[Spotlight (comics)|Spotlight]]''s. The Autobots abandon Earth to deal with the threat of the [[Dead Universe]].
* ''[[Maximum Dinobots]]'' — Sequel to ''Revelation''. Five-issue miniseries that features [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] and his [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]], [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]], [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and the return of the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] and [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]].
* ''[[All Hail Megatron]]'' — A 16-issue maxi-series dealing with the fate of Earth at the hands of the Decepticons one year after the withdrawal of the Autobots at the end of ''Revelation''.
* ''[[The Transformers Continuum: The Definitive Chronology]]'' — A one-issue (somewhat skewed) history of the Transformers thus far.
* ''[[Last Stand of the Wreckers]]'' — A five-issue miniseries spotlighting the [[Wrecker|Autobot subgroup]]'s adventured outside of Earth. Published alongside the ongoing series but set, initially, before it.
* ''[[The Transformers (IDW)|The Transformers]]'' ongoing series — takes place 2 years after ''All Hail Megatron'', with the Autobots in hiding from the military out to destroy them.
* ''[[The Transformers: Bumblebee]]'' — A four-issue miniseries focused on Bumblebee as the newly elected Autobot leader, which takes place between issues 3 and 5 of the ongoing series.
* ''[[The Transformers: Ironhide]]'' — A four-issue miniseries scheduled to begin in May 2010. Details are TBD, but it will be written by [[Mike Costa]] with art by [[Casey Coller]] and colors by [[Joana Lafuente]].
* ''[[Transformers: Drift]]'' — A four-issue miniseries scheduled to begin in August 2010 and published biweekly. It will focus on [[Drift (G1)|Drift]]<nowiki>'</nowiki>s past as a Decepticon. Written by Drift's creator — [[Shane McCarthy]] — and art by [[Alex Milne]] (line-art) and [[Josh Perez]] (colors).

* ''[[Spotlight (comics)|The Transformers: Spotlight]]'' — An irregularly ongoing series of one-shot stories focusing on a single Transformer per issue. The stories generally fit in to various points in the Transformers' history.

==Timeline==
''See main article: [[IDW timeline]].''

==Production==
Initially, the IDWverse was penned almost entirely by veteran Transformers scribe [[Simon Furman]], with the primary exceptions being:

* ''Megatron Origin'' ([[Eric Holmes]])
* ''[[Spotlight: Kup]]'' ([[Nick Roche]])
* ''[[Spotlight: Mirage]]'' ([[George Strayton]])
* the ''New Avengers'' crossover and ''[[Spotlight: Ramjet]]'' ([[Stuart Moore]])

Pencils on the main -ation series were done by [[E. J. Su]] (with [[Nick Roche]] and [[Robby Musso]] filling in while Su was on paternity leave) and a variety of artists have penciled the other series in the continuity.

However...

IDW decided to shake things up in an attempt to gain new fans. Furman's planned 6-issue ''Revelation'' was shortened to four ''Spotlight'' issues and its follow-up, ''Expansion'' was canceled in favor of a new series, ''[[All Hail Megatron]]'', which was written by new writer, [[Shane McCarthy]] and illustrated mainly by [[Guido Guidi]]. ''All Hail Megatron'' was expanded from 12 to 16 issues to mainly fix continuity issues between McCarthy's and Furman's work, and was written and illustrated by various individuals (see issues for credits).

Following ''All Hail Megatron'', three new interconnected series debuted with new creative teams. An [[The Transformers (IDW)|ongoing monthly series]] started in November 2009, written by [[Mike Costa]] and illustrated by [[Don Figueroa]]. A month later, a [[The Transformers: Bumblebee|Bumblebee miniseries]] (written by [[Zander Cannon]] with art by [[Chee Yang Ong]]) began and yet another miniseries, ''[[Last Stand of the Wreckers]]'', written by [[Nick Roche]] and [[James Roberts]] and also illustrated by Roche, debuted in January, 2010.

==Notes==
* The IDW continuity is equivalent to the [http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Earth-616 Earth-616] from [[Marvel Comics]] in [[New Avengers / Transformers|some way]].
'''''The Transformers: Bumblebee''''' is a 4-issue limited series published by [[IDW Publishing]] from [[2009]]–[[2010]] and set in the main [[IDW Generation 1 continuity|IDW continuity]].

The miniseries serves as sort of a maxi-''[[Spotlight (comics)|Spotlight]]'' for [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] and runs concurrently with the new [[The Transformers (IDW)|ongoing series]]. The events follow the ''[[All Hail Megatron]]'' maxiseries, among other things.
==Overview==
{{ongoing}}
Although Bumblebee was elected as Autobot leader, he gets little respect, as Autobots strike out on their own or disrespect his authority. A rogue faction within Skywatch contacts the Autobots and sets up a meeting with Bumblebee to enlist the Autobots' help in capturing Decepticons. Bumblebee agrees and the bots are fitted with special badges to cloak them from the main Skywatch force, but when the Colonel orders the capture of Blurr and resentment ensues, the Autobots learn that the badges also have the ability to immobilize them.
==Notes==
*The events of the miniseries take place between issues 3 and 5 of [[The Transformers (IDW)|the ongoing title]].
*According to [[Andy Schmidt]], this miniseries was intended to appeal mainly to younger readers, while still fitting into the main storyline.<ref>[http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?p=166855#166855 Andy Schmidt explains which audience each of the current (January 2010) running series is aimed towards.]</ref>
* The titles of all four issues are derived from incidents in Greek mythology and legend (the sword of Damocles, the Gordian Knot, the Trojan Horse and the flight of Icarus). There is [[Micromasters#Trivia|precedent]] for this, albeit less high-falutin'.
'''As Prime and Spike talk (still), things go from bad to worse when Ultra Magnus leads a team to arrest "Rodimus Prime"...'''

==Synopsis==
Spike and Optimus continue their chat; Prime admits that he felt he was an ineffective leader once the Decepticons left. He also tells Spike how he admires the human race and their wisdom. He hopes his men will transform without him.

Ultra Magnus returns to the Autobots' cave and immediately states his intentions to assemble a team to arrest "Rodimus Prime". Bumblebee questions this, as well as Magnus' choice of the recently traumatized Blurr, but Magnus will have none of it and supersedes Bumblebee's complaints.

Spike takes a ride in Breakdown to clear his head, but is soon sideswiped by Drag Strip. He, along with Wildrider had been looking for their fellow Stunticon and are disgusted that he's being driven by a human. They decide that they will wreck Breakdown in order to kill Spike, because Breakdown can be repaired later. Wildrider rams him next, but Spike retaliates with a weapon he brought along. He tries to lead the two 'Cons back to Skywatch, but Motormaster appears traveling in the opposite direction and runs Spike off the road, where he dives into a ravine. As Spike requests a pick up from Skywatch, Breakdown is recovered and brought back to Hot Rod's site.

At the site, Swindle spends a bit of time repairing Breakdown, and it attracts attention from Silverstreak, but Hot Rod dismisses his concerns. Ultra Magnus and his team arrive to arrest Rodimus, who explains that he isn't committing treason since the war is over. He tries to appeal to Bumblebee, but Magnus interrupts him. Just then, Swindle walks over and says that he'll take over now. Rodimus says that he has things under control, but Swindle drops the charade and says he plans to take the ship off the planet, and kill as many Autobots as he can before that. Magnus counters that the Autobots have him outnumbered, but Swindle gives the order for the Stunticons to merge into Menasor... his newest creation. Swindle tell Menasor to kill Magnus first...
