Prime has the most useful, multipurpose, superpowered weapon ever.

His stated manifesto includes wanting fuel, wanting fire, and [[Wikipedia:Tautology|wanting "that which he desires"]].

He is most notably ''not'' the [[Supreme Commander]] of the Autobots, the faction showing a command structure similar to that in the [[Beast Era]]. His superiors include [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]]. He is apparently a graduate of some elite academy. When asked what he was doing in a mining crew, he gave no answer.

He and his crew eventually come across the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]] while repairing a [[Space Bridge]], and bring the artifact aboard their ship. During transport, they are discovered by the [[Decepticons]], and [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] comes after. He proves too strong to take head on (in spite of [[Starscream (Animated)|his subordinate]] planting a bomb on his chassis) but when the Autobot ship nears [[Earth]] Megatron is knocked overboard. The Autobots stay in stasis for the next 50 years until accidentally awakened by a strange incident. Optimus and the Autobots take on Earth vehicles as alternate modes and stop a giant bio-mechanical bug. They are hailed as heroes for it. Eventually, Starscream comes for the All Spark, and Optimus finds that the schemer can pack quite a punch. However the Autobot officer is able to keep Starscream from getting the artifact, nearly at the cost of his life.{{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}

:Based on his pre-Earth Cybertronian look, the first version of ''Animated'' Optimus Prime transforms into a half-track cybertronic truck loosely based on the Mitsubishi Fuso Hybrid concept truck. As a half-track, instead of rear wheels, he has molded caterpillar linked tracks with smaller wheels inside for rolling along smooth surfaces. Prime's axe weapon is stored by partially folding the axe at the grey hinge near the handle peg, then placing the handle peg in a hole on the back of the cab (actually one of his fists) with the blade facing down and a grey peg facing up, acting as a 'fifth wheel' (known as a trailer hitch among fans) should one find a suitable trailer to attach onto it.

Power-hungry and driven by jealousy, Starscream operates through three ideals: lying, manipulation and deception. And when all else fails, a bit of sabotage never goes astray. [[Megatron (Animated)|Wise bots]] are careful about turning their backs on Starscream, just in case it's the day he finally decides to shove in the knife.

Like [[Starscream (disambiguation)|others of his kind]], Starscream seeks to betray [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] and take over the Decepticons. This time, however, he's not afraid to plant bombs on his mighty leader. In the aftermath of the explosion, Starscream gets so caught up in his own greatness that he doesn't notice his comrades abandon him alone on a ship hurtling towards an exploding space bridge.

And he doesn't believe in luck.

Starcream later discovers the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]] is on Earth and adopts a jet fighter as an alternate mode to search for it. When he reveals himself the Autobots, he quickly thrashes each of them individually. Starcreams mocks them, apparently thinking that they thought they really defeated Megatron (whom he refers to as ''the great Megatron'' without sarcasm, so he seems to have at least a loathing respect for his leader's power), saying Megatron was already defeated by the bomb Starscream himself had put on him. Despite being more powerful than the Autobots, Starscream fails to take the All Spark, partially because he [[Megatron (BW)| spends too much time gloating]].

Some people are team players, and some...well aren't. Prowl falls into the latter category. A loner at heart, he's no interest in teamwork, something Optimus finds extremely frustrating.

Yeah, he's still a bit of a prick.
