Breakdown is captured by MECH, and the only ones who can save him are... Team Prime.

Synopsis
Bulkhead is fighting Breakdown in a ghost town on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Eastern Russia after the two have a run-in while tracking an energon signature. Though Bulkhead fights valiantly, Breakdown lays him flat with a hammer blow. As Breakdown prepares to finish the unconscious Bulkhead off, he's zapped by a blast of energy from a helicopter, which lands and disgorges Silas and a pack of MECH troops. Silas instructs them to take Breakdown. Bulkhead comes around to find Breakdown missing and Miko calling out to him on the comm. After he bridges back to base for repairs, everyone's confused about what happened to Breakdown. Agent Fowler has an idea who might be behind it.

On the Nemesis, Starscream relays news of Breakdown's capture to Megatron. Starscream is keen to hunt down the humans responsible, but Megatron intends to leave Breakdown to his fate for being captured by those weaker.

Breakdown recovers to find himself firmly attached to a metal slab. Silas introduces himself to the captive, who announces that Megatron will never pay a ransom, but Silas reveals they're not after money, just the technology in Breakdown's body.

Fowler fills the Autobots in — his intel has reported MECH activity in the Kamchatka Peninsula. While the other Autobots are happy for MECH to have Breakdown, Optimus Prime decides to mount a rescue mission. The others are surprised, and Bulkhead wonders if Optimus believes Breakdown will switch sides if the Autobots rescue him, but Optimus says while that's unlikely, they can't let MECH get Cybertronian technology.

Meanwhile, MECH have disengaged Breakdown's pain receptors in preparation for the operation. Silas thanks their captive in advance for the service he is about to do them, and the heavy machinery moves in to take the Decepticon apart.

Miko tries to talk Bulkhead into going on the mission, but he's not keen, and Optimus agrees he would not be an asset on the mission. Optimus departs with Ratchet, Bumblebee and Arcee. Miko looks disappointed, and Bulkhead suggests they watch a movie instead.

Prime's team arrives in the ghost town, to find it deserted. Though Bumblebee spots some vehicle tracks, Ratchet reports he's got an energon trace, and they go to look for the source.

Fowler has already fallen asleep in front of Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape. Miko isn't watching the movie though, as she's disappointed that Bulkhead isn't getting to face down his own arch-enemy. Bulkhead still doesn't want to rescue the 'Con, but Miko points out that if he doesn't, he won't get to have a rematch. Bulkhead takes the GroundBridge to Russia.

Prime's team finds the energon reading — it's Breakdown's eye, sitting in the open.

Bulkhead follows a MECH car to a railway tunnel and, weapons primed, ventures inside.

Ratchet hooks Breakdown's eye up to his scanner so they can retrieve the last images it saw, however it turns out that Silas has turned the eye into a two-way video feed. Silas is surprised to see the Autobots, but shows off the work they're doing on Breakdown and points out the bomb the Autobots are standing virtually on top of. Prime's team just manages to get clear before the bomb explodes.

Silas passes on the news to Breakdown that his would-be rescuers are Autobots, much to the captive's confusion. At this point, Bulkhead breaks through an outer door and fights his way through the MECH goons to find Breakdown. Freeing the startled Decepticon, Bulkhead leads the way to the exit, but once outside they're confronted by the bulk of the MECH forces. Bulkhead calls for backup and their pair start fighting in earnest. Silas's 'copter begins firing bursts of energy, and Breakdown in an uncharacteristic act of altruism knocks Bulkhead out of the way of them. The fight continues, but Silas's copilot reports incoming signals, resulting in Silas ordering a general retreat. Arriving, however, is not Optimus's team, but Starscream and a bunch of Vehicons. Starscream orders Breakdown to destroy Bulkhead, and though Breakdown is initially reluctant, Starscream sways him, and he attacks his Autobot rescuer. Bulkhead soundly pummels Breakdown before smashing Starscream and taking out the Vehicons with Breakdown's body. The Decepticons are forced to retreat as Optimus's team finally shows up. Optimus is impressed that Bulkhead has risen above his petty rivalries to rescue Breakdown, but the moment is spoiled by Bulkhead asking if they all saw how he bashed the Decepticons.

Breakdown pauses short of the Nemesis, where Starscream informs him that he will repay his debt one day... when he must choose between Megatron's leadership and Starscream's.

Silas records that the information they gained from Breakdown was enough for them to start Project Chimera...

Notes
Animation and technical errors
*Breakdown's chest panels are closed when Bulkhead helps him get up, but are open again when the camera focuses on him.

Continuity errors
* Ratchet says that Silas has turned the optics into a two way frequency and Silas states that Breakdown can't see much anymore. Both lines indicate that Breakdown has lost both his eyes, but in the next screen, Breakdown still has one eye and there's nothing seen that could have been recording the image seen by the Autobots.
* How does an optic play back audio anyway? It should be picture only.
* Moments after calling Optimus Prime by name and stating that he was expecting Megatron, Silas tells Breakdown about his "would be rescuers" without moving from the same location from which he had just been talking to them - yet Breakdown seems to have no idea that they were Autobots. How did he not hear the conversation?
* Another possible Continuity error - How does Silas know of Megatron when he's only met the Autobots?

Transformers references
Foreign dubbing
Real-world references
*Miko plays the game "Marco Polo" with Bulkhead. Bulkhead later plays the game with MECH.

Trivia
* MECH can carve up Breakdown with ease with their surgical lasers, but the guns they give their footsoldiers seemingly have no effect on Transformers. Clearly MECH's footsoldiers should be equipped with surgical lasers instead.
*The episode was screened at 2011 before its first airing on television.
*This is the first episode of the series that Jack hasn't appeared in.
*Starscream got better.
*Miko seems to have learned her lesson: she didn't follow Bulkhead this time.
*Human death must have occurred during Bulkhead and Breakdown's outdoor battle with MECH. Case in point: Breakdown throwing a car at a helicopter, causing a midair explosion.
*Despite being Breakdown's partner, Knock Out makes no appearance in his episode, leaving the audience to wonder if he didn't know about Breakdown's capture, or didn't care enough to bother rescuing him.
*The Kamchatka Peninsula is an actual place, with heavy volcanic activity. But if the show is placed in 2011, there are no recorded evacuations in 1991 due to volcanic activity.
*This episode has displayed a grand difference between Megatron and Starscream as leaders; Megatron has no regard for his servants if they go missing, especially if they're captured by humans, while Starscream values his teammates and is willing to go and rescue them against Megatron's orders.
From his helicopter, Silas shot down William Fowler's plane transporting the Dynamic Nuclear Generation System. Soon, Fowler was transporting the device aboard a civilian trailer truck. Fowler evaded Silas's men, and when they attempted to open the trailer door, a motorcycle driver drove onto one of their cars, causing it to flip over and explode. The convoy passed through a train tunnel, and as it emerged, mysterious purple planes fired on the trailer. Since the explosion did not cause a meltdown, Silas realized Fowler must've transferred the device onto the train. Then Silas witnessed the civilian convoy and planes transform into robots, and a fight ensued. Silas was pleased to confirm the rumors of living technology on Earth, but flew off to retrieve the DNGS.

A hacker caused the train to diverge onto a forked track, but Silas's pilot cut the connection. Silas prepared to land on the train as his men finished cutting open the appropriate car's roof, but retreated when he saw the truck robot on the move. He wasn't going to let the enemy leave with his prize, and so fired on the train tracks to cause a crash. The truck robot managed to stop the train, and from the safety of his helicopter, Silas watched his new enemy stare back. He privately congratulated the alien visitor, but noted MECH had the home advantage and vowed to level the playing field, even if it meant dissecting the robot. Silas then flew off. Convoy (episode)
While Optimus and Arcee are trapped in the Arctic, the base is invaded by deadly Scraplets.

Synopsis
Trudging through the Arctic, Bulkhead and Bumblebee locate a huge pod buried in the snow. they take it back to base, where their systems are checked over by Ratchet. Optimus asks about the pod, but Ratchet says it can't be opened while it's still frozen. Even as it sits defrosting in another part of the base, the pod cracks open from the inside.

Optimus and Arcee prepare to travel to the Arctic to look for more clues regarding the pod's origins, and Ratchet gives them some temperature sensors so they can tell when their core temperatures drop to dangerous levels. The kids arrive in time to see them off, and Jack's initially keen on going with them, until he finds out where they're headed. Raf's still interested in seeing some snow, but Optimus says the conditions are too harsh. No sooner have Prime and Arcee stepped through the ground bridge than the ground bridge system goes down. While the Autobots start trying to repair it, Jack and Miko start playing video games, and Raf wanders off. He's playing "being in the Arctic" in a corridor when he stumbles on a tiny cute metal critter. He plays fetch with it using a bolt, but it promptly eats the bolt. Happy with his new pet, he heads back to the control room, unaware that there's equipment sparking behind him.

Ratchet's just dug out a damaged ground bridge component when Raf returns with his find. The Autobots react in terror to the tiny critter. The kids are surprised at the reaction to what the Autobots are calling a Scraplet, but then the creature starts chowing down on Bumblebee, and Raf has to beat it to death with a crowbar. Ratchet's suspicions as to the Scraplet's origin are confirmed when they check the Arctic pod and find it's been broken open — thousands of Scraplets now infest the base.

In the Arctic, Optimus and Arcee find their core temperatures have dropped, but Optimus is unable to contact base to request use of the ground bridge.

Ratchet's discovered that the Scraplets have broken the comm system. Bulkhead's in favor of bugging out, but doing that will mean certain doom for Optimus and Arcee. Bulkhead gives a detailed description of how Scraplets kill a bot to Miko. The kids volunteer to help as the Scraplets aren't interested in eating them, and so they pair off with the three Autobots — Jack helping Ratchet repair the ground bridge while the others hunt for the Scraplets. Mike and Bulkhead explore the corridors where Raf saw the first Scraplet, and Miko is bemused to find that Bulkhead screams like a girl when scared. After an embarrassing encounter with a bunch of overhead cables, Bulkhead is set upon by Scraplets. Elsewhere, Raf and Bumblebee likewise run into a group of the things. Ratchet has meanwhile finished repairing the ground bridge, but it still refuses to function. As he investigates further, a swarm of Scraplets enter the main control room via a vent, and begin flying overhead. They attack Ratchet, but Jack uses a nearby fire extinguisher to freeze them off. There are more of the pests flying overhead however, and as the others return from their search, the Scraplets attack and overwhelm the Autobots.

Arcee and Optimus try to keep themselves functional by playing "Who screwed things up back at base". Arcee favors Bulkhead, remembering how he walked into some power lines shortly after they arrived on Earth, but Optimus defends the big lug.

The kids manage to eliminate the Scraplets attacking their friends, but from the sounds elsewhere in the base, it's clear there are many more lurking about. They come up with a plan to send the Scraplets to the Arctic by getting the ground bridge working, and Ratchet works out there must be an energon fuel line breach preventing the system from starting. The three kids take a tool kit and go to fix the breach. They're just finishing when the Scraplets it's time for lunch, and break into the main control room. The kids rush back and let Ratchet know that the ground bridge is back online. He opens the bridge to the Arctic before collapsing, and Bulkhead acts as bait, leading the Scraplets through. He arrives in the Arctic to see Optimus and Arcee staggering towards the bridge, and the Scraplet horde bursts through behind him. Optimus braces for attack, but the Scraplets rapidly freeze in the air and bounce harmlessly off him.

Back at base, Ratchet supervises repairs on Bumblebee and Bulkhead. He and Optimus pay tribute to the strength of their human allies, but just then Miko spots a spider and runs away screaming.
"The Arctic? I've always wanted to see snow."<br>
"I would invite you to join, Rafael, but the conditions are much too extreme, even for we Autobots."<br>
"I understand..."<br>
"But, I will bring you back a snowball."
:—Raf is snow deprived and Prime says things you would not expect a giant alien robot to say.

"Bulkhead, you NEVER run." <br>
"Miko, you haven't seen a swarm of these things devour a bot. I HAVE. They pick you apart from the inside out, going for the small juicy bits first, fuse by fuse, circuit by circuit. 'till there's nothing left, and I mean NOTHING, not even your optics."
:-The kids getting nightmare fuel from Bulkhead.

"I get to be your bodyguard for once. How cool is that?"<br>
"Raf found the first one here, right?"<br>
(lights turn off for a second and Bulkhead screams loudly)<br>
"Did you just scream like a little girl?"<br>
"No...maybe...can we talk about this later?"
:—Miko and Bulkhead searching, and a more hilarious reversal of roles cannot be found.

"What do you suggest...wait, how about a game? Let's play, who screwed things up back at base."<br>
"Our predicament could be the result of a simply malfunction."<br>
"Caused by Bulkhead."
:-Prime and Arcee prove that when things go wrong, blame it on Bulkhead.

"Bulkhead may be... too large for this world. But his inner strength is without bounds. One should not be measured by size alone."
:—Optimus gives us a life lesson while finding a nice way to call Bulkhead fat.

"Ready for the main course? Come and get it!"
:-Bulkhead, king of one liners.

"I'd invite you in, but the place is a mess."
:Trypticon is a Decepticon from the Prime continuity family.

Trypticon Station, located within the Trypticon Asteroid Belt, was built long ago and entrusted to the care of the Seekers to protect a powerful secret hidden within. When Starscream, commander of the Seekers went over to Megatron early in the war, the station, which he commanded, went with him.

Trypticon is more than just a station, though: it was programmed to be a sentient drone too, and was eventually recreated as a fully sentient, living Transformer.

Fiction
Exodus: The Official History of the War for Cybertron
Prior to the war, Trypticon Station was used for research that could not be conducted planetside, including the first forays into sequestering the Dark Energon that had resulted from Unicron's attack on the planet. Its security was seen to by the Seeker caste. There are records that indicate that at the time Dark Energon was placed aboard by an ancient High Council the station underwent a major overhaul: Alpha Trion confirmed that it was given a spark and made a living being at that point. Air Commander Starscream was one of the few with knowledge of its secrets. As a result, he ordered his forces to occupy it after the capture of Sentinel Prime, as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Megatron and his growing Decepticon army. Megatron decided he tired of negotiations and took Trypticon Station by force. Upon Starscream's return to the station, Megatron pressed the Seeker and ultimately gained access to the facility's research on Dark Energon. Megatron noted to Shockwave that there was potential for a spark within Trypticon, though Shockwave pointed out the Well no longer produced sparks. Megatron suggested he use the sparks of the scientists killed and maimed in the seize of Trypticon to give life to the station.

The supplies of Dark Energon from the initial harvest were slender, so Megatron required the means to transfer large quantities of energon to the station so that they could be converted into the rarer resource. As Trypticon Station was configured to receive fuel from the Geosynchronous Energon Bridge in Crystal City, the Decepticons were able to transfer an initial supply, but not nearly enough for the ravenous rate at which they were consuming Dark Energon. This was eventually remedied by Megatron's capture of the Plasma Energy Chamber, which provided a nearly unlimited source of fuel directly from Cybertron's core.

After a team led by Optimus Prime ventured into the planet's core to cut off the transfer, Megatron decided to switch tactics. He allowed Shockwave to apply the experimental knowledge he had gleaned over the course of the war, and Trypticon was granted true life, including the ability to shape its corridors into a dizzying array of defense drones and Minicons. Ultimately, a team of Autobots aboard the Eight Track found a gap in the station's external defenses and managed to venture within and knock the behemoth from orbit.

Victory was brief, however, as Trypticon revealed a robot form and crawled from the wreckage planetside. Though initially the Wreckers and Omega Supreme were tasked with keeping the gargantuan Decepticon away from the Ark launch, this proved to be in vain, as Megatron boarded Trypticon along with a hand-picked crew of the Decepticon elite. Transforming into a Nemesis-class battleship, Trypticon pursued the Ark to, and subsequently through, the last remaining functional space bridge in Cybertronian orbit. As the Ark emerged in unknown space, the Nemesis was nowhere within sensor range. Exodus: The Official History of the War for Cybertron

After Optimus Prime learned of the coming Great Shutdown, he ordered an evacuation of all Autobots. When Megatron started using his space station to blow up the ships, Optimus Prime sent Jetfire, Air Raid, and Silverbolt to destroy the station. Flooding it with coolant while under heavy fire, the jets were about to blow it up...until they discovered that the station itself was alive. At this point, the Trypticon orbital weapon gun began first targeting locations on Cybertron such as Zeta Prime's Vaults, the Hall of Ancients, the Stellar Galleries and the Code Archives before finally acquiring the coordinates for Optimus Prime. The fliers hoped that they could prevent Iacon's destruction by destroying Trypticon's conversion cog, reverting him to his robot mode.

Unfortunately for the aerial Autobots, his robot mode was a gigantic, metal dinosaur. Jetfire destroyed his jetpack, and Trypticon plummeted to the planet below. Optimus, Ironhide, and Bumblebee went to investigate the crash and battled the titan, destroying his shoulder-mounted weapons systems by overloading them with energon batteries. The Autobots proceeded to shoot his exposed heat vents and to destroy a set of three power cores along his shoulders and back. Defeated, Trypticon made a last-ditch effort to attack, but lost his balance and fell into an energon lake below when Optimus Prime hit him with his axe. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
Transformers: War for Cybertron (DS)
Megatron conquered Trypticon Space Station to manufacture Dark Energon to aid in his planet-wide conquest. However, Megatron found he needed to access the Core of Cybertron to continue to power their Dark Energon supply. Upon defeating Autobot leader Zeta Prime, and later Omega Supreme, Megatron succeeded in his quest.

However, not too long afterwards, newly ascended Autobot leader Optimus Prime freed the Core from the Dark Energon, and ordered a planet-wide evacuation of the population from Cybertron. Megatron began using Trypticon Space Station to fire upon the evacuating Autobot masses, prompting a strike from Optimus' team. The Autobots were able to make Trypticon Space Station crash to Cybertron... only for it to transform into a city-sized Decepticon dinosaur. Luckily, Optimus and his men finally defeated the titan, and ended the threat of Dark Energon for good.
Notes
* Trypticon has two seemingly conflicting origins in Exodus. Orion Pax researches the station and discovers that in "ancient times" it was secretly "recreated" from a simple space station and was raised to sentience, given a living spark (pg. 82) when Dark Energon was hidden aboard by an "ancient" iteration of the High Council headed by Sentinel Prime. Alpha Trion confirms this to be true. Beforehand, however Megatron refers to the station as being "semi-sentient" and afterwards as a sparkless drone before Shockwave makes it into a Transformer with many sparks.
* In the end credits for War for Cybertron, Trypticon is briefly seen grappling with Omega Supreme. Now if we had only seen that in gameplay.
