Since we've been clamping down hard on ridiculous attempts at seeing "references" in every little thing, I wanted to throw this out before actually adding it: Prime's pre-battle speech to his team is reminiscent of Primal's speeches at the end of "[[Other Voices, Part 2]]" and again near the end of ''Beast Machines''. Is it really? Megatron didn't intend to shove it in his chest, that was Optimus' last-ditch plan to destroy it in sum total (granted, Optimus intended to use his own chest, but...), and there was no hitting-the-movie-Allspark-with-an-axe-type bit. [The real version is noted one section down]

A device of unknown origin and unimaginable power, the '''All Spark''' can create life itself and was the source of the [[Transformer]] race. For millions of years, [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s waged the [[Great War]] over controlling it, with the Autobots only managing to defeat the Decepticons after they sent the All Spark through a [[space bridge]] portal, keeping it safely out of evil hands and effectively removing the wild card from remaining battles. If wielded by Decepticons, it would be a weapon of destruction like no other. In other words, same thing as the movie.

It seems to have a will of its own, seeking out qualified bearers and uniting even [[Sari Sumdac|unlikely allies]] into a team.

It can also unfold ''really'' purdy.

==Fiction==

===Animated cartoon===
[[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] and his crew from the [[Ark (Animated)|''Ark'']] were repairing a space bridge when it activated on them. Once Prime shut down the bridge, they stumbled across the All Spark, hidden away inside a rock, having apparently emerged while the bridge was active. [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] told them of its history and significance in the Great War, believe it the All Spark had now found them, rather than the other way around. Almost immediately, the Decepticon leader [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] and his crew showed up in their warship, the [[Nemesis (Animated)|''Nemesis'']], tracking the All Spark's energy readings. Megatron vowed to take the All Spark himself, but was sabotaged with a bomb by his lieutenant, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]]. The explosion sent the ''Ark'' careening almost totally out of control until the All Spark activated a nearby space bridge, which itself exploded after the ''Ark'' went through.

The ship emerged from warp in low orbit over Earth and soon crash-landed in Lake Erie, not far from Detroit. Fifty years later, the Autobots came out of emergency stasis and ventured into the city to save people from a rampaging monster. [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] quickly befriended a young girl named [[Sari Sumdac]], who convinced him to take her aboard the ''Ark'' when his teammate [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] was badly injured. While aboard, Sari came in contact with the All Spark, which decided for some reason to open up to her—in more ways than one. It reconfigured her [[Sari Sumdac's key|security keycard]] into a powerful tool. With this new key, Sari could revive Autobots, activate machinery, screw up robots, and much more.

For a time, the Autobots were celebrated as Detroit's newest superheroes without having to exert themselves much, but then Starscream tracked them down. He took hostages and demanded the All Spark in exchange for their return. With Sari's help, the hostages were freed, but Starscream still managed to get hold of the All Spark, and he quickly started obliterating sections of Detroit with it. Prime attempted to wrestle the All Spark away from him, but again it opened, this time unleashing a powerful surge of energy that blasted away Starscream to parts unknown. Prime was left dangling from a tremendous height and quickly fell. He did not survive the impact, but in desperation, Sari used her reconfigured key on him. ==Notes==
The All Spark's powers, enigmatic origin, and storyline role are very similar to the [[All Spark|synonymous device]] from the [[Transformers (2007)|live-action movie]]. The look of the outer container, however, is more of an homage to the [[Matrix of Leadership]] (i.e. an orange-ish container with bracketed handles and a window in front that opens outward to reveal a glowing, blue, spherical crystal suffused with blue energy). However, the All Spark here is angular and cubic rather than curved and spheroid like the Matrix, basically hybridizing the looks of the movie and G1 devices. Unlike its' Movie counterpart, it does not kill a Transformer that merges the power source - the inner crystal - with his/her Spark, but grants them great power as long as the crystal remains intact.

He then spent his time breathing fire and breaking things. He also swallowed a missile, which is just beyond cool.

If RiD/CR's getting kicked in the nuts for introducing 18 characters in four episodes, shouldn't someone tot up the number introduced in both the cartoon's MTMTE mini-series, and the opening issue of the Marvel comic? Because the number's more than 18... The Earthforce cycle hyping the Euro Classics probably deserves covering too, as does the proliferation of "classic" characters in later Marvel US issues due to the Action Masters (Prowl, Wheeljack, Shockwave, Starscream, Megatron, etc.)

For the exceptions section, some Marvel bits deserve a mention, surely? I'm thinking specifically of Ratchet managing to hang in there so many years after he was cancelled despite not having an Action Master or anything, and the rest of the Dinobots coming back late on and the introduction of Galvatron at such a late stage.

The Maximals use their tools to garden, trimming the wild bean vines that have grown around the Maximal base and, as [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] explains, could be exploited by the Predacons. [[Rattrap]] and Dinobot get into a fight. Inside, Rhinox detects [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]] coming to attack, but can't activate the [[Sentinel]] shields because of the two arguing Maximals outside. Rhinox comes down the elevator with his guns ablaze and commands the two to get inside, but they are too busy arguing to obey. Trying to cover his teammates' withdrawal, Rhinox is hit by a strange weapon from [[Tarantulas]]. Dinobot blasts Tarantulas several times, and with the crucial shot fired, the Predacons retreat.

Inside, the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s computer reports on the strange effect the device had on Rhinox, giving him a disease that causes the larger Maximal to "spontaneously discharge energy." Rhinox demonstrates this by hiccuping energy beams around the base, causing much collateral damage. It's decided a counter-virus must be found.

Rattrap and Dinobot attempt to trail the injured Tarantulas. The two get into an argument about who is to blame for Rhinox becoming sick, which quickly degenerates into name-calling. Eventually forgetting why they started the arguement, the two follow Tarantulas's scent. Running after a glimpse of the Predacon, they fall though a hole and onto a long slide—with a heavy boulder close behind them. But after they landing at the bottom of the slide, the boulder actually hits Tarantulas. Rattrap and Dinobot continue to bickering as they search through the underground caverns for Tarantulas's lab.

Aboard the ''Axalon'', [[Optimus Primal|Optimus]] reveals to [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] that he paired Dinobot and Rattrap together so they could either learn to work together or kill each other. Rhinox is meanwhile kept on a life support system which drains energy from the rest of the (now heavily damaged) Maximal base.

Back at the [[Darkside|Predacon base]], [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] sends his own forces to reclaim Tarantulas so more of the virus can be developed to use on the rest of the Maximals. They head to his [[Tarantulas' lair|laboratory]] to see if they can locate the missing arachnid there. On Tarantulas's security sensors, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] notices the two wandering Maximals making their way through the caverns towards the hideout.

Primal rallies his available soldiers for action against the Predacons to seize the antidote to Rhinox's ailment forcibly. Rhinox attempts to come along with the others, but Primal orders his friend to stay behind and consume some food to help stabilize his systems. Naturally, the first option on Rhinox's menu happens to be the wild beans conveniently surrounding the ''Axalon''.

Back in Tarantulas's lair, Blackarachnia discovers where Tarantulas stored the counter-virus. When [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] detects the two Maximals getting closer, the Predacon goons open fire, wildly hoping to hit something, but instead just ruin any chance they have of ambushing their targets. Dinobot tries to use Tarantulas as a hostage, but this tactic doesn't work on Megatron, who has no reservations about abusing his own soldiers. However, the distraction has bought Rattrap (who was supposed to be covering Dinobot) the time to sneak through some tubes to arrive behind the Predacons, leaving him close enough to disarm them quickly.

A nasal energon-expulsion from Rhinox provides a hole for the other Maximals to enter the chamber once they finish posing heroically. Megatron mentions that he alone has the counter-virus that could save Rhinox.

But then Rhinox shoots an incredible energon fart (visible from space) that blows the Predacons far away, giving the Maximals the chance to grab the counter-virus and live happily ever after. Rattrap and Dinobot still bicker like kids, though.

==Summary==

The Maximals use their tools to garden, trimming the wild bean vines that have grown around the Maximal base and, as [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] explains, could be exploited by the Predacons. [[Rattrap]] and Dinobot get into a fight. Inside, Rhinox detects [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]] coming to attack, but can't activate the [[Sentinel]] shields because of the two arguing Maximals outside. Rhinox comes down the elevator with his guns ablaze and commands the two to get inside, but they are too busy arguing to obey. Trying to cover his teammates' withdrawal, Rhinox is hit by a strange weapon from [[Tarantulas]]. Dinobot blasts Tarantulas several times, and with the crucial shot fired, the Predacons retreat.

Inside, the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s computer reports on the strange effect the device had on Rhinox, giving him a disease that causes the larger Maximal to "spontaneously discharge energy." Rhinox demonstrates this by hiccuping energy beams around the base, causing much collateral damage. It's decided a counter-virus must be found.

Rattrap and Dinobot attempt to trail the injured Tarantulas. The two get into an argument about who is to blame for Rhinox becoming sick, which quickly degenerates into name-calling. Eventually forgetting why they started the arguement, the two follow Tarantulas's scent. Running after a glimpse of the Predacon, they fall though a hole and onto a long slide—with a heavy boulder close behind them. But after they landing at the bottom of the slide, the boulder actually hits Tarantulas. Rattrap and Dinobot continue to bickering as they search through the underground caverns for Tarantulas's lab.

Aboard the ''Axalon'', [[Optimus Primal|Optimus]] reveals to [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] that he paired Dinobot and Rattrap together so they could either learn to work together or kill each other. Rhinox is meanwhile kept on a life support system which drains energy from the rest of the (now heavily damaged) Maximal base.

Back at the [[Darkside|Predacon base]], [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] sends his own forces to reclaim Tarantulas so more of the virus can be developed to use on the rest of the Maximals. They head to his [[Tarantulas' lair|laboratory]] to see if they can locate the missing arachnid there. On Tarantulas's security sensors, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] notices the two wandering Maximals making their way through the caverns towards the hideout.

Primal rallies his available soldiers for action against the Predacons to seize the antidote to Rhinox's ailment forcibly. Rhinox attempts to come along with the others, but Primal orders his friend to stay behind and consume some food to help stabilize his systems. Naturally, the first option on Rhinox's menu happens to be the wild beans conveniently surrounding the ''Axalon''.

Back in Tarantulas's lair, Blackarachnia discovers where Tarantulas stored the counter-virus. When [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] detects the two Maximals getting closer, the Predacon goons open fire, wildly hoping to hit something, but instead just ruin any chance they have of ambushing their targets. Dinobot tries to use Tarantulas as a hostage, but this tactic doesn't work on Megatron, who has no reservations about abusing his own soldiers. However, the distraction has bought Rattrap (who was supposed to be covering Dinobot) the time to sneak through some tubes to arrive behind the Predacons, leaving him close enough to disarm them quickly.

A nasal energon-expulsion from Rhinox provides a hole for the other Maximals to enter the chamber once they finish posing heroically. Megatron mentions that he alone has the counter-virus that could save Rhinox.

But then Rhinox shoots an incredible energon fart (visible from space) that blows the Predacons far away, giving the Maximals the chance to grab the counter-virus and live happily ever after. Rattrap and Dinobot still bicker like kids, though.

I think the reason the "Dion is Ultra Magnus" theory believes Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime are brothers is because Alpha Trion rebuilt them both. After all, Alpha Trion rebuilding Orion Pax makes him his father, apparently, so if Alpha Trion rebuilt both of them, and he's both of their fathers, that makes them brothers. (It also makes Elita One their sister, which is why I like to think that little revelation made Prime go all "Uh... gotta go home now, see you never" at the end, but ahahahaha...) Ultra Magnus' inner robot and Optimus Prime look the same, which is another argument for Alpha Trion rebuilding both of them.

: Ah. Better reading comprehension! I just noticed the "Just curious." I think the reason the "Dion is Ultra Magnus" theory believes Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime are brothers is because Alpha Trion rebuilt them both. After all, Alpha Trion rebuilding Orion Pax makes him his father, apparently, so if Alpha Trion rebuilt both of them, and he's both of their fathers, that makes them brothers. (It also makes Elita One their sister, which is why I like to think that little revelation made Prime go all "Uh... gotta go home now, see you never" at the end, but ahahahaha...) Ultra Magnus' inner robot and Optimus Prime look the same, which is another argument for Alpha Trion rebuilding both of them.

Optimus Primal was the captain of the exploration ship [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] when his crew got word that the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] criminal [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] had stolen the [[Golden Disk]] and a [[Darkside|ship]] with [[transwarp]] capabilities. Primal's was the closest vessel that also possessed a transwarp drive, so the ''Axalon'' was sent to engage them. Primal followed the Predacons through a transwarp portal and appeared above a mysterious planet, but both ships were damaged in the ensuing space battle, and before both ships crashed into the planet's surface below, Primal ordered that the [[stasis pod]]s carrying the rest of his crew to be ejected into orbit.

The planet was rich with [[energon]] -- so much so that prolonged exposure would short out their bodies, so the Maximals and Predacons were forced to take organic forms from the local creatures. Primal took the form of a silverback gorilla. Estranged from his comrades, the Predacon [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] challenged Primal to a duel soon after their arrival, seeking command of the Maximals so he could, in turn, defeat Megatron. Both sides entrenched themselves on their new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Strange unnatural sites and artifacts were discovered, leading Primal and the others to believe that aliens had seeded the primitive planet with experiments and traps. One such trap, the [[Standing Stones]], ensnared Primal's body for a short time, during which the Maximals scrambled to ascertain their chain of command. In his absence, the Maximals squabbled and fought over leadership, until finally his core consciousness was able to speak to them and name [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]] as his replacement. Primal's body was subsequently retrieved from the Standing Stones, and he resumed command.

When [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] discovered evidence of the [[Vok]]'s imminent arrival, Megatron called a truce, which Primal reluctantly agreed to. While investigating a newly-created Vok installation, Primal was tortured and captured by the aliens, who spoke to him (in the form of [[Unicron]]) and told him of their plans to 'sterilize' the planet. Barely escaping the Vok base, Primal returned to the Axalon to find it overrun by [[Tarantulas]] and [[Blackarachnia]], who had turned a space stasis pod into an escape ship, in order to flee the doomed planet. As the planet's second moon was converted into a [[Planet Buster]], Primal took the ship to do battle with the superweapon, against the objections of his crew. Primal planned to detonate the ship's [[transwarp cell]] when in range of the weapon, after ejecting to safety. The plan worked - with the exception of the 'ejecting' part. Megatron remotely seized control of the vessel, overriding Primal's ejection commands. The Predacon commander taunted Primal as he futilely beat his fists against the pod, until the detonation obliterated the pod, the Planet Buster, and Primal, reducing them all to so much space junk. {{Storylink|Other Voices, Part 2}}

During a daring rescue attempt by the Maximals and Tarantulas, Optimus engaged in a furious battle with Megatron, destroying both the Metal Hunter and the alien disc. The Maximals then suffered a number of setbacks, including the death of [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], the destruction of [[Transmutate]], and Megatron's acquisition of the deadly [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]]. However, the Maximals were soon greeted with good news; the realization that the [[transwarp wavefront]] created by the destruction of the Planet Buster would lead Cybertron to them, in order to mount a rescue operation. Help arrived soon enough, but in the unexpected form of the rebuilt [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], who had come to arrest Megatron for his crimes against the [[Pax Cybertronia]]. In the midst of this, Primal was forced to chastise new recruit [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] for his dangerous relationship with Blackarachnia. Primal was forced to take the great Autobot's Spark inside himself to keep it protected. With the location of the Ark revealed, and Megatron now desperate to end the war at any cost, Primal was forced to move his Maximals into the volcano where the Ark's hull lay. This new, defensive war was much more difficult to fight, and disadvantaged the Maximals severely. With the loss of their defense system, [[Sentinel]], the awkward and violent maturation of Cheetor, proto-humans to guard, and the introduction of the previously treacherous and morally ambiguous Blackarachnia into their ranks, Optimus Primal had more than his share of problems to deal with.

The tide was finally turned when the Vok resurrected and combined [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] and [[Tigatron]] into the mighty [[Tigerhawk]], who obliterated the Predacon base. However, their memories were intentionally not uploaded into their new bodies. Arriving at Mikaela's house, Sam advanced a step towards her by stating that he doesn't believe her to be shallow at all. After she leaves, Sam quietly said to himself "I love my car."

Later that night, Bumblebee drove off by himself with Sam in hot pursuit, believing it to be a car theft. Unwittingly leading his human owner to a junkyard, Bumblebee transformed and activated his communications beacon requesting assistance from Optimus Prime and the other Autobots. Unknown to him, Sam had seen his robot form and ran off, now being being pursued by two dogs guarding the junkyard. Bumblebee came to Sam's aid, scaring off the dogs but had to escape when the police (that Sam had previously summoned when Bumblebee drove away from his house) arrived to arrest Sam for breaking-in the junkyard.

The next day Bumblebee drove back to the Witwicky house sometime after Sam had been released from jail by the police. Frightened and confused, Sam rode away from what he dubbed '[[Unicron|Satan]]'s Camaro', ending up in the city and encountering Mikaela in front of a ''Burger King''. Bumblebee followed Sam towards an industrial area, not realizing that the Decepticon [[Barricade (Movie)|Barricade]] was stalking the boy, intent on finding Captain Witwicky's glasses. Sam ran away from the attacking Decepticon and almost literally ran back into Mikaela after she had followed him. As Barricade bore down on the pair, Bumblebee suddenly appeared, knocking the Decepticon off his feet, then drove the humans away as Barricade gave chase.

Racing through dilapidated factories and warehouses, Bumblebee eventually arrived at a deserted chemical plant on the outskirts of town, where he waited until Barricade's back was turned before dumping Sam and Mikaela out of his passenger side door then transforming into robot mode to protect his friends. Barricade transformed and attacked, hitting Bumblebee with his tire spikes and knocking the Autobot into a chemical tank. In retaliation, Bumblebee grabbed Barricade and threw him into a electrical substation, seriously damaging the Decepticon and putting him into stasis lock. After Sam and Mikaela took care of [[Frenzy (Movie)|Frenzy]], Bumblebee introduced himself to them entirely through the use of his radio, explaining that it was the only way he could communicate, that he was an alien from 'the heavens' and that Sam witnessed him calling to his friends the previous night. Transforming back into vehicle mode, Bumblebee invited his friends to enter (after a moment's hesitation they did) and began to drive them to nearby [[Griffith Observatory]].

On the way, Mikaela (who had refused to sit in the driver's seat as Bumblebee was driving), rhetorically asked Sam that if Bumblebee was a super-advanced robot, why did he turn into a piece of crap Camaro? Mildly insulted, Bumblebee stopped in the middle of a packed tunnel and forced the humans out, then drove away. As Sam lamented the fact that "four thousand dollars just drove away", Bumblebee passed another car and scanned it, driving back to his owner as a sleek and shiny 2009 Camaro. Amazed and impressed, Sam and Mikaela got back in and Bumblebee continued their journey to the observatory. Arriving, the humans observed as the other Autobots entered the Earth's atmosphere and crashed landed in various parts of the city.

Bumblebee then took his friends to a secluded alleyway where Sam and Mikaela meet the Autobots. Introducing themselves, Sam learned that Bumblebee was his guardian and that the Autobot's vocal processors were damaged in battle, Ratchet was still working on them as he fired a regenerative plasma beam [http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2007/07/kurtzman-and-orci-post-move-q.html] at the damaged area. Optimus Prime explained that their mission was to find the All Spark, and that Sam Witwicky was the key due to his grandfather discovering Megatron on his arctic voyage.

Arriving at the Witwicky residence, Bumblebee attempted to convince his comrades to remain out of sight while Sam was talking to his father. When Sam and Mikaela were captured by [[Sector Seven]], Bumblebee helped rescue them, eventually releasing lubricant on [[Reggie Simmons]]. Soon, Sector Seven reinforcements arrived, intent on recapturing the kids and any 'N.B.E.s' they could get their hands on. Optimus Prime tried to protect Sam and Mikaela as they hid under a bridge, but both almost fell to their deaths when they slipped. Bumblebee raced forward, transforming and catching them in mid-air. Unfortunately, this also gave Sector Seven a clear and obvious target for them to attack. Firing harpoon cables from helicopters, the clandestine human organization dragged Bumblebee to the ground as their soldiers began to freeze the helpless Autobot who reached out to Sam. The boy broke free from an agent's grip, pushing the soldiers away until he was tackled by several agents and taken away. Though [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]] objected to allowing Sector Seven to leave with their friend, Optimus Prime ordered his men to stand down, as there was no way to save them without incurring human casualties.

Taken to [[Hoover Dam]], Bumblebee was continually doused with cryoblasts to keep him docile and inert as Sector Seven performed experiments on him. Sam and Mikaela (with some armed persuasion from [[William Lennox|Captain Lennox]]) convinced Sector Seven to release Bumblebee. Upon his release, Bumblebee almost lashed out at his human oppressors until Sam calmed him down, informing him of the presence of the All Spark and Megatron in the facility, and that the Decepticons were coming for both. Following the humans to the All Spark's chamber, Bumblebee hesitantly reached out to the legendary object of his people and reformatted it, shrinking the cube until it was the size that the humans could manipulate. Bumblebee and a military escort fled to [[Mission City]], meeting the Autobots en route.

After arriving at the city, [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] soon appeared. Recognizing the Decepticon, [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]] and Bumblebee picked up a discarded truck in order to shield the humans from any collateral Starscream's attack would inevitably bring. One of the Decepticon's missiles struck the truck, sending both Autobots flying, with Bumblebee landing in a store front. Crawling out, Sam discovered to his horror that Bumblebee's legs had been crippled and he was barely functional. Soon, the other Decepticons arrived, led by Megatron and the remaining Autobots were engaged. Mikaela and Sam hoisted Bumblebee onto a abandoned tow truck, but refused to leave Bumblebee's side. The Autobot silently handed his friend the All Spark, trusting the fate of his people into the boy's hands and urged him to run while he still could. As Sam ran away Mikaela drove Bumblebee away from the battle to relative safety.

However, she was soon overcome with guilt for leaving Sam and the battle, and with apparent agreement from Bumblebee, turned the truck around and headed back in. She drove down the street in reverse as Bumblebee fired his plasma canon at [[Brawl (Movie)|Devastator]], who was pinning down Captain Lennox and the rest of the combined Ranger/Sector Seven soldiers. His contribution was the deciding factor, confusing Brawl enough for the soldiers to counter attack, and the Decepticon was finally destroyed when Bumblebee's final cannon blast pierced his spark. Bumblebee was rather pleased with himself, and Mikaela complimented his shooting.

After the destruction of Megatron and the All Spark, Bumblebee (who had regained his voice [http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2007/07/kurtzman-and-orci-post-move-q.html]) requested permission to remain with Sam, to which the young man agreed. After his legs were repaired, he allowed Sam and Mikaela to make out on top of him, as the other Autobots watched.

Arrogant and cocky with the skills to back up all his big talk, '''Jetstorm''' leads [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron's]] [[Sonic Attack Jet|aero-drones]] in his bid to removes the last vestiges of resistance on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. The only thing Jetstorm likes more than cracking wise is cracking heads. He takes great pleasure in tormenting the [[Maximal]]s and lets them know at every opportunity how much better than them he is. He has a nasty temper that is barely hidden behind a thin veneer of cool indifference, and it really doesn't take much to set him off. Like that [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] chick, what's she staring at?

Despite his smarm, bravado and temper, Jetstorm knows when to cut his losses and run for it. He may have a whole load of personality flaws (and a load of aero-drones to back him up), but he's not stupid. Despite early rivalries, he has also developed a comraderie with [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]], even though the idea of being friends with anyone initially came as something of a shock.

Jetstorm is in actuality a programmed shell personality given life by the [[spark]] of the Maximal [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]].

Jetstorm came online alongside fellow generals [[Tankor]] and [[Thrust]] fairly early on in the Beast Machines conflict, when [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] realized that controlling his vast armies of Vehicon drones directly was beyond even his mental capacities. In order to more efficiently control his forces, he created the Vehicon generals to serve as field commanders answering directly to him. In order to give these generals life, he used the sparks of two captured Maximals and one Predacon, hoping that Optimus Primal and his crew would be reluctant to fight their former comrades-in-arms. For Jetstorm, he used the spark of the [[Fuzor]] Silverbolt.

Although Silverbolt's former lover, Blackarachnia, initially believed that it was Thrust who possessed the spark of her beloved, she soon discovered the truth, and went to great lengths (some would say obsessively so) to reawaken the Maximal spark Jetstorm held within. And what did she get for her trouble? A samurai chicken with serious issues. Sucks to be her.

So, why are IDW Thunderwing and Bludgeon's shells listed as "Pretenders" on this page?

At no point in-continuity are they referred to as "Pretender shells". A "bio-cybernetic grafting process", yes; "polydermic grafting", yes; "Symbiotic carapaces", yes; "Exo-shells", yes, "Pretenders" no. This on a wiki that speculates that Spider-Man gets all his powers from his suit because there's no spider-bite reference in a Marvel US TF comic.

Almost none of the opening - about half of one line, dismissed as "also can" - applies to the carapaces. They're not removable and can't act independently. They're explicitly not intended as disguise of any sort. They're survival suits permanently bonded to the original robot.

Seperating them is needless and just wrong.

Six hundred thousand "[[Cycle|Meta-Cycles]]" [sic] ago, while the [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] Civil War raged, the Decepticon Shockwave foresaw that the incessant fighting between Autobots and Decepticons would cause an Energon crisis which would have a devastating effect on Cybertron itself. During the war, the Dynobots had lost face to Shockwave after he had foiled a vital Energon-gathering mission, and all five Transformers were hungry for for revenge.

The Energon reaction on Earth's surface was causing energy fluctuations dangerous to unshielded Transformers. Shockwave was prepared, but the Dynobots had no protection. Slag's novel solution involved using their ship's [[CR chambers]] to re-design the Dynobots' secondary modes to resemble native animals; the alt-modes' synthetic flesh would act buffer the Energon radiation. When Grimlock rejected Earth's Ice Age mammalian lifeforms, Slag discovered fossilised remains of dinosaurs, which Grimlock immediately took to.

The Dynobots located Shockwave on the surface and attacked him. Shockwave, confused by the assault which had no basis in logic, seemed easy prey for Grimlock's squad. Then something happened; with his core logic failing him, Shockwave abandoned calculation and for the first time experienced rage. His brutal retaliation battered the Dynobots, quickly stripping them of their protective synth flesh and thus forcing them into [[stasis lock]]. Shockwave prepared to steal their vessel, but before he could do so, the Dynobots' ship acted on a commnand pre-programmed by Grimlock and fire upon a nearby volcano. The blast cracked the earth open, spilling Shockwave into a pit of molten lava.

We skip ahead a few thousand years to Nevada, 2006, where a team of archaeologists have unearthed a massive, metal, purple hand...

Slag's creative solution to the Energon radiation problem (which also ties into Beast Wars) is also Furman's solution to the Dinobot problem, a solution completed by Shockwave's stripping the synth-flesh from the Dynobots; it's not hard to imagine the obstinate Grimlock refusing to abandon his intimidating secondary mode just to hide himself from a race of tiny fleshbags.

==Synopsis==
===Part One===
Optimus Prime stands, depressed, looking out onto [[Cybertron]]. As Prowl, watching him, reflects, Prime had lost his ability to transform shortly after the [[Last Autobot]] had reconstructed him from [[HiQ]]'s body, a result of HiQ's being "soaked" with [[Nucleon]] when he accelerated Grimlock's reconstruction. Of the "Nucleon generation" - those revived by Grimlock with Nucleon, plus Prime and Grimlock himself - Prowl was one of the few still able to transform, while the ashamed Grimlock had gone into hiding and most others, like Prime, were depressed and felt emasculated by the handicap.

Prowl interrupts Prime's thoughts to inform him that Grimlock had gone, and, after being shocked by a curt response, tells him that Grimlock was going to [[Hydrus Four]], the Nucleon source. Prime is briefly shocked, but tells Prowl he "doesn't know" what to do.

Meanwhile, upon Grimlock's landing on Hydrus Four with the rest of the [[Dinobots (G1)|Dinobots]] - of whom only Slag was still able to transform - they get into a fight with a native monster, and Grimlock is almost killed by futilely trying to transform at a vital moment, before recklessly killing the beast. He then thinks of how he had heard a rumour of a cure for Nucleon's effects on the planet, but volunteers were needed to test it. Having told Prime, who had in turn told him not to go despite clearly wanting to due to the risk of Decepticons following them and reviving deactivated 'Cons, he proceeded to go anyway, out of hatred for what he had caused and become as a result of Nucleon.

Shortly after, the Dinobots are beaten and captured by Bludgeon, Dreadwind and Fangry; who plan to revive Megatron.

===Part Two===
Grimlock awakes, badly beaten and strung up on chains, to find himself in the midst of a Decepticon grouping chanting Megatrons name, and with the rest of the Dinobots in no better shape. Defeated, when Bludgeon notices his consciousness and tells him of his grand plan to revive Megatron, he managed a yawn, but was left still more crushed when Bludgeon laughs the reaction off.

Meanwhile, Prowl was shocked an embarrased when Optimus Prime apologised for his actions earlier, and reveals he had put together an assault team and medical crew since their talk, and humbly asks that he joins them.

The assault succeeds, and Grimlock discovers that the new version of Nucleon indeed allows him to transform once more, Swoop kills Bludgeon, and Grimlock and Optimus Prime team up to rip the half-alive Megatron in half.
