==Detailed synopsis==
At Autobot headquarters, Wheeljack gathers everyone around for a demonstration of his newest invention, the Immobilizer. Walking in late, Ironhide sees Hound’s hologram of Laserbeak and, thinking it’s real, fires wildly at it, scattering the Autobots and nearly bringing down the roof. As Ironhide apologizes, Wheeljack reveals that the Immobilizer was damaged and needs a replacement polarizer. Bumblebee and Spike volunteer to go into town to retrieve it.

While on their mission, ‘Bee and Spike stop for a few rounds of “Robot Resource” at the [[Robots Video Arcade|local arcade]]. A young woman named Carly introduces herself to the pair and admits her fondness for the “cute Autobot.” A somewhat jealous and awkward Spike reminds Bumblebee that they need to leave, and the pair take off, only to be stopped a few moments later by a sarcastic policeman. As they are being busted for speeding, Ravage attacks Bumblebee and secretly plants a miniature video camera on the Autobot. Spike electrocutes Ravage with jumper cables, and the Decepticon retreats. The officer lets the pair go with a warning.

With the Immobilizer repaired, Wheeljack starts the demonstration again, unaware his every word is being caught by the microbug camera on Bumblebee and relayed to Starscream and Megatron. The Decepticons aren’t too keen on the idea of being permanently immobilized by the invention, and Megatron promises to steal it.

Optimus Prime decides to move the test outdoors for safety. As the Autobots approach the location, Prime directs Ironhide to guard the perimeter. The rest proceed toward a fast-moving river, which Wheeljack immobilizes with the device. In the commotion caused by the success of the test, Spike messes with the Immobilizer and is almost zapped, but Wheeljack throws him out of the way, takes the blast himself, and winds up stiff as a board.

Still patrolling the perimeter, Ironhide catches a glimpse of a shadowy figure and fires his weapon. He discovers that the figure was Carly, whom he scolds for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The distant sound of gunfire cuts their conversation short, and Ironhide rushes off. He reaches the clearing to find the Decepticons have the Autobots at gunpoint, and blames the ambush on himself.

Megatron demands that Prime hand over the Immobilizer, and a battle ensues. The device gets knocked about and winds up in Megatron’s hands, but just as he starts issuing another threat, the river, on which he and the Decepticons are now standing, re-mobilizes and sweeps them downstream.

While undergoing repairs back at headquarters, Ironhide criticizes his performance in the field. Concluding that he’s too old to be of use, he resigns from active service, and nothing Ratchet or Prime says dissuades him. Carly blames herself for Ironhide’s attitude and tries to convince him not to quit. Ironhide gives her a tour of the base, and she pockets a grenade when they visit the armory.

Some time later, Wheeljack unfreezes, and Spike notices that Carly is missing. Suspecting she’s emotional and going to do something rash (‘cuz she ''is'' a girl), Spike and Bumblebee set out to look for her. Turns out he’s right. Carly has driven a boat out into the ocean and, using SCUBA gear, swims down to Decepticon headquarters to plant the stolen grenade on their outer wall. However, she’s detected by Soundwave, kidnapped by Laserbeak, and brought into the base to face Megatron’s judgment.

Luckily for Carly, her abduction was caught by the [[Sky Spy]]. Ironhide rushes off to find Spike and Bumblebee and start a rescue mission.

Back under the ocean, the grenade Carly planted earlier goes off, and seawater starts rushing into Decepticon headquarters. They manage to fix the damage and contain the water, except in the cell where Carly is being held. With disturbing glee, Megatron and the others watch Carly struggle as water fills the cell to the ceiling. Assuming she’s dead, they leave the cell unguarded. This lets Ironhide swim through the hole in the wall, grab the girl and bring her back to the surface.

After thanking Ironhide for the rescue, Carly rides off with Spike and Bumblebee, but when Ironhide doesn’t follow, they realize that he’s been immobilized. The Decepticons and Autobots square off, with Rumble in control of the Immobilizer and freezing most of the Autobot forces. Following a plan of Carly’s design, Brawn tunnels under the ground with her and Spike so they come up near the Immobilizer’s position. As Jazz distracts the Decepticons, Carly crosses some wires in the device and the trio escapes. When Rumble tries to immobilize Optimus Prime, the device starts to re-mobilize the frozen Autobots instead. Ironhide grabs the Immobilizer from Laserbeak, and when all the Autobots are unfrozen, he smashes the device. With his toy in pieces, Megatron swears to return, and the Decepticons retreat.

Back at headquarters, Ironhide asks to return to active duty, and Optimus heartily welcomes him back. Carly explains how she switched around the wires in the Immobilizer, since she does have a science scholarship at MIT. Confronted by both brains and beauty, Spike has no choice but to ask Carly on a date. Sparkplug watches them drive off and smiles in approval, despite the fact that his son going out with a college student while he's too young to have a driver’s license.

* If this episodes dialogue is taken seriously, it would mean that Spike is at least 13-15 years old (depending on particular state). Of course this raises several disturbing questions about why Sparkplug allows his son to date a women who's either finished/still in college. Then again Sparkplug had Spike working on a remote Oil platform in the middle of the ocean , so family dynamics within the Witwickies is certainly....interesting.

With the arrival of [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], the [[Autobot]]s scatter, but [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] and [[Daniel Witwicky|Daniel]] are captured. As the [[Decepticon]]s depart in Scorponok, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] orders the Autobots to move out. However, [[Spike Witwicky|Spike]] insists on letting him and [[Cerebros (G1)|Cerebros]] remain behind. Though Optimus believes that Spike is their only hope if [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] should activate the Plasma Energy Chamber, he relents.

On [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]'s forces are fighting off the Decepticons, but the tide is turned when the [[Headmaster]]s and [[Targetmaster]]s arrive, allowing Galvatron to claim victory. [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] explain what happened on [[Nebulos]], but Galvatron is so disgusted that he's on the verge of reducing all of them to [[scrap]]. However, [[Zarak]] explains that he has the Key, and has control over Scorponok. Though still disgusted, Galvatron agrees to at least talk, while ordering a new rocket he installed on Cybertron to be activate. They prepare to torture Daniel, but Arcee gives them the Key.

Heading for Cybertron, Optimus recieves a vision from the [[spark|spirit]] of [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]], telling the [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]] to preserve the key at all costs. However, [[Hot Rod]] and [[Kup]] inform Prime that Cybertron has dispappeared. Realizing Galvatron's intentions, Optimus orders the shuttle to head for [[Earth]]. On Cybertron, which has entered the [[Sol system]], Galvatron reveals that he intends to activate the Plasma Energy Chamber, and let the [[plasma energy|energy]] spread out and cause the [[sun]] to nova, destroying Earth and Cybertron. On Nebulos, Spike and Cerebros locate the [[Hive]]'s city, and begin using lond abandoned controls to begin modifying the city.

Landing on Cybertron, the Autobots discover that their comrades have had their [[power pack]]s removed, and their [[Spark|lives]] will end if they do not get immediate [[Energon]]. The Nebulans think that they should just destroy the Key, lest the released energy reach Nebulos. However, Prime remains adamant, explaining that [[Vector Sigma]] has a plan. Unwilling to take the risk, the Nebulans simply abandon the Autobots and head to destroy the key, persued by the weaponless and headless Autobots. However, they are attacked by the Decepticons, who are preparing to leave. Just then, Spike and Cerebros arrive in the Hive's converted city, which [[transformation|transform]]s into [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]], with Spike and Cerebros as it's components. Fort Max engages Scorponok, causing the Decepticons and the Hive to flee. Spike and the Nebulans deactivate the Plasma Energy Chamber, but not before it sends a wave of energy into the sun.

Working quickly, Spike and the Nebulans begin preparing Vector Sigma to absorb the excess solar energy. Pumping it straight into the supercomputer, it directs the energy into Cybertron's storgate capacitors, resulting in the complete revitalization of Cybertron. As Cerebros reactivates, he begs Spike to deactivate him, no longer wishing to endure the [[Great War]]. However, Spike tells him that Cybertron has been revitalized. Optimus declares that the Headmasters and Targetmasters are to become the guardians of Nebulos, and to destroy the Hive's machines. When this is done, Cerebros will become the guardian of Nebulos, and live in peace.

However, Scorponok survived the destruction, and it is obvious that Galvatron and Zarak do not see eye to eye. As the wouldbe tyrants bicker, Nebulos stands free, while Cybertron begins a second [[Golden Age]] under the rule of Optimus Prime and the Autobots.

* This is pretty usual for Transformers, but Spike, a human is prefectly able to construct a super power, complex and sentient Transformer out of a city in what may be no more than mere hours.
* Ultra Magnus sure screws up royally when they give him something to do, huh? I mean first he loses the Matrix in [[Transformers: The Movie]], now he lets Cybertron again fall to the Decepticons.

[[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] takes [[Sari Sumdac|Sari]] toy shopping for her birthday (or "construction date" as he terms it), to purchase her something that makes the loud music she loves so much. The two of them are attacked by [[Professor Princess]], who is on an ironically violent crusade to destroy violent toys. They are able to defeat the bizarre villainess only after Sari uses the power of her Key to trigger a powerful sonic attack from the stereo systems in the toy store. [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], monitoring events via security cameras as usual, notices both the power of the Key and the frivolous ways in which Sari employs it. He designs a new robot for Sari and tricks [[Isaac Sumdac|Dr. Sumdac]] into allowing him to produce it.

Sari's birthday party isn't much fun; she has no real friends, the only attendees being the children of Sumdac Systems employees, who continue to be put off by her bad manners. When the [[Autobots]] arrive to help celebrate, the kids are quite happy to go play with the giant robots and leave the weird girl behind. Bulkhead tries to present Sari with his gift for her, a xylophone (''Awwww!''), but Dr. Sumdac steps in first and gives her the "toy" designed by himself and Megatron: a responsive, interactive, dancing, music-and-light-show robot known as [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]]. It's hard for Bulkhead to compete with that. As days go on, Sari pays less attention to Bulkhead and far more to Soundwave. When she inevitably starts to grow bored with her new toy, she uses her Key on it. Each dosage of the Key's power unlocks new features on Soundwave, making his musical light show more involved and impressive, and even ''more'' fun than plain ol' Bulkhead and the Autobots.

This has been Megatron's plan all along. Soundwave's systems were designed to grow and evolve when exposed to the Key; eventually, Sari will unwittingly upgrade him into a suitable body for Megatron himself. Bulkhead begins to see signs of Soundwave's evolving nature—"Did that thing just move by itself?"—but no one believes him. Megatron successfully uses Soundwave's weaponry and voice-modulation systems to make both Sari and the Autobots think Bulkhead is erratic, jealous, and dishonest.

Soundwave's musical transmissions soon become powerful enough to control other Sumdac Systems automatons...which are pretty much everywhere. Megatron had not foreseen this. Sari takes Soundwave and [[Tutor Bot]] to the park, where they have an impromptu concert, complete with garbagebots banging on their fellow garbagebots, and dancing humans. (Even Tutor Bot does a little dance.) Bulkhead arrives, trying to convince Sari that something is wrong with Soundwave. However, as she turns her back to Soundwave, the music-bot activates a cannon and targets Sari. Bulkhead destroys Soundwave, forcing Sari to use the key to restore him, and he immediately starts up again. [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus]] tells Bulkhead to give Sari a little time and space, saying that she still values her friend more than her toy, but Bulkhead isn't so sure. Megatron is convinced that Bulkhead is no longer a problem and decides it's time to take Soundwave for a test run.

But even Megatron himself is surprised when, after sufficient doses of All Spark energy via the Key, Soundwave grows fully self-aware and enhanced with Cybertronian upgrades. Neither Megatron nor Sari can control Soundwave anymore. As he explores [[Detroit]], he is puzzled and angry to see machines like himself forced into servitude for humans; he finds this illogical and believes it should be the other way around. Megatron reveals himself to Soundwave, rather straightforwardly telling him of the Decepticon goals of conquest and machine supremacy, the injustice of the Key in Sari's possession, and the [[Decepticon|Decepticons']] hatred for the treasonous Autobots who value organic life. Soundwave compels hundreds of smaller [[automaton|automatons]] to merge with him, constructing a new transforming body for himself and proclaiming himself to be a Decepticon. He commences "Operation Recruitment", using his sonic signals to turn all the automatons against both Autobots and Humanity. The Autobots attempt to track down Soundwave, but they are overwhelmed by his minions and flustered by his ability to forge deceptive messages on their own communication systems. Bulkhead manages to come face-to-face with Soundwave, but even the largest Autobot is swatted down by Soundwave's concussive sonic attacks. Soundwave attempts to convince Bulkhead of the rightness of the machine cause and the inferiority of Humanity, and orders him to destroy Sari. Bulkhead plays along for a few moments, but it's all a trick; as soon as he gets within range, he clobbers Soundwave, who shatters into his component automaton pieces.

The crisis averted, Bulkhead and Sari strengthen their friendship over some (quiet) music. Megatron fumes in disgust at their victory, swearing again to reconstruct himself. And, far beneath the city, the last intact piece of Soundwave flickers back into activation....

==Detailed synopsis==

A Decepticon sneak attack on [[Ark (G1)|Autobot headquarters]] is actually a diversion while [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] use temporary “invisibility spray” to sneak inside. Megatron sabotages the Autobots’ recharging chamber with a personality destabilizer device. After the Autobots recharge the next day, they have a sudden change of heart, and are now Decepticon slaves. [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] obeys Megatron’s first order and smashes [[Teletraan I]].

[[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], the only unaffected Autobots, are on their way back to Headquarters. Bumblebee makes it back first and evil [[Bluestreak]] forces him into the recharging chamber. Jazz, [[Sparkplug Witwicky|Sparkplug]] and [[Spike Witwicky|Spike]] arrive and save Bumblebee from being brainwashed. Sparkplug repairs Teletraan 1, who tells them that the rest of the Autobots are now evil!

Meanwhile, Optimus leads the Autobots on an attack at the local Air Force base, where they begin trashing military jets. Spike and Bumblebee rush off to the base to stop them, and Sparkplug and Jazz stay behind to work on a cure.

All of this mess was started just so Megatron can steal a human solar energy satellite being launched the same day. The Decepticons take over the rocket base and plan to take the rocket and satellite back to Cybertron.

At headquarters, Sparkplug cooks up a bunch of attitude exchangers that will, “First, drain evil. Second, recharge good.” He and Jazz round up [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] and [[Jetfire (G1)|Skyfire]] and change them back to good using the devices. Skyfire gives them a lift to the Air Force base where they manage to change the rest of the Autobots, except for Optimus Prime. The devices pacify Prime’s [[combat deck]] and [[Roller]], but Prime is still on a rampage. Bumblebee takes it upon himself to change the [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]] back, and succeeds. Optimus gives him a nice big hug for his trouble.

Back at the rocket base, Megatron and the Decepticons have boarded the reprogrammed rocket and take off. The Autobots intercept them aboard Skyfire. Prime and Ratchet detach the satellite while Jazz uses a “musical sonic boom” to disable the rocket. The Decepticons abandon it without any further resistance and retreat. Skyfire takes everyone into space and Prime throws the solar satellite into orbit.

Finally back at headquarters, Prime thanks everyone for helping out, especially Bumblebee. But then Ratchet gets jealous and claims credit for firing the attitude exchangers (which was actually Hound’s idea. Hmmm…). Jazz reminds everybody that they have to fix all of the jets that Optimus Prime smashed at the Air Force base. Spike breaks the tension with a lame joke that his dad finds hilarious and we fade to black.

==Summary==
Starscream, believing Megatron destroyed, forces Doctor Arkeville to take him to his secret laboratory. Once there he discovers another of the Doctor's inventions, the [[Exponential Generator]], a power source that, if it overcharges, will detonate with enough energy to destroy the Earth.

Seeking to gain power for himself, Starscream links the generator to a timer and then takes Doctor Arkeville with him to [[Cybertron]] which is still nearby. He plans to collect the energy unleashed by Earth's destruction to revitalize Cybertron.

The Doctor, unwilling to let Starscream benefit from the Earth's destruction, attempts to sabotage the energy collectors but the Decepticon security system stuns him with a blast of electricity. Badly injured, Starscream has the Doctor 'repaired' by the [[medicroids]], leaving him more machine now than man. Of course, he was twisted and evil to start with, so.

Meanwhile on Earth, Megatron has returned to the Decepticons having survived the explosion of his starship (See [[The Ultimate Doom, Part 3]]). When he learns that Starscream and Doctor Arkeville are apparently working together he sets of in pursuit with the other Decepticons.

The Autobots detect the Decepticon activity and set off after them. After a short battle the Autobots are trapped in quicksand. Ironhide freezes the quicksand with his liquid nitrogen allowing them to escape. Laserbeak who was standing guard over them is captured and the Autobots learn that the Decepticons are heading for the Doctor's secret laboratory and they set off to follow them.

The Autobots arrive at the laboratory and battle each other again. Unaware of the danger it represents, Megatron covets the exponential generator and fights Optimus Prime for its possession. During the fight Megatron receives a communication from Shockwave on Cybertron.

Shockwave, unwilling to serve Starscream, warns Megatron about the timer and Starscream's plan. Megatron rips the timer from the wall just in time. On Cybertron, Starscream is baffled that the Earth has not exploded and sets off back to check the timer.

The exponential generator has become volatile and begins to go critical ready to explode. Megatron transforms and Prime loads the generator into his gun barrel and then fires it into space. It explodes and the blast sends Starscream crashing to Earth where Megatron is waiting for him.

The Autobots let the Decepticons go, amused at the thought of what Megatron is going to do to Starscream.

===Part 1===

In deep deep space, Optimus Prime watches some old history videos, prompting Ratchet to complain about him watching that "junk" when the other members of the crew need assistance. Prime wonders if they were designed for more than repairing [[space bridge]]s. The two 'Bots transform into their vehicle modes and head out into the asteroid field.

Outside, Bulkhead, dangling from a high rock by his wrecking ball (and becoming quite queasy in the process), is freed by Bumblebee, who also ends up taking a tumble. Bumblebee complains about the sheer amount of rocks blocking the space bridge node, and one is shattered unexpectedly by Prowl's throwing star. Prime gives his troops a speech about teamwork (which Prowl moans at theatrically), but at that point the space bridge lights up, sending rocks and Autobots flying. Fancy footwork by Optimus saves each of his teammates from the debris, and a well-aimed grappling line shuts down the bridge. With his subordinates stunned at their leader's skills, Prime is forced to admit he trained at Cybertron's military academy. Bumblebee's query as to what the hell he's doing on a nowhere maintenance assignment is left unanswered as they notice something glowing in the rubble.

Prime clears away the debris to reveal a large, chest-like object. Ratchet is horrified and immediately demands they throw it back into the space bridge, but an alert from [[Teletran 1]] announces the arrival of a signature consistent with the long-lost [[Decepticon]]s. Ratchet then announces they take the object and just out of there post-haste.

Onboard the ''[[Ark (Animated)|Ark]]'', Ratchet finally reveals what they've found: the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]], the source of all Transformer life that was lost centuries ago. Optimus, worried about the oncoming Decepticon signal, contacts the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]] for help. After taking a bit of snark from Sentinel Prime, Optimus reveals what they found, which shuts Sentinel up fast. He then puts the crew through to Ultra Magnus, who tells Optimus Prime to stay put while they send reinforcements... and not to worry about that Decepticon thing. Optimus, considering this to be a really stupid move, orders the crew to start booking it out of there.

This proves wise, as the signal is indeed a Decepticon ship, a command ship, in fact, carrying the Decepticons' leader Megatron and his most dangerous minions. Onboard, Starscream, Lugnut, Blackarachnia and Blitzwing bicker at each other until Megatron arrives, shutting them all up. The Decepticons chase the Autobot ship, and Starscream volunteers to board them. Megatron quickly shoots that idea down. Just before he leaves, Starscream wishes his commander "luck" with a pat on the back... affixing a bomb to Megatron in the process.

Megatron makes his way to the ''Ark'' and begins to melt his way through its hull. Optimus uses external manipulator arms to grapple with Megatron, until the bomb detonates, sending the ship careening uncontrollably into a space bridge node, which explodes after they go through the gate. Starscream begins to make a speech declaring himself the new Decepticon leader, but the other three have abandoned ship, noting that the fireball from the space bridge explosion is only getting larger. Too late, Starscream realizes the trouble he's in...

An unknown distance away, the Autobot ship reappears above a [[Earth|small blue and green planet]]. Prime checks on his troops, but Megatron has gotten aboard, having survived the explosion, but at the cost of his right arm. Prime uses his grappling line to shut off the gravity, making it more difficult for Megatron to fight. All five Autobots face off against the Decepticon, but he's too strong. Prime and Megatron both end up in the storage bay where the All Spark is... and as the ship enters the atmosphere, Prime is able to blow the hatch and kick the screaming Megatron out of the ship.

On a small farm, a young boy hears a thud, and runs to find something has landed in their field, and is shocked to find a robotic head staring lifelessly up at him.

Meanwhile, Prime orders his team into emergency stasis pods to prepare for a crash landing. He manages to steer the ship away from the city below, and gets to a stasis pod just before the ship plunges into [[Lake Erie]].

Fifty years later, Detroit is a city of robots. Isaac Sumdac is talking to a public school class taking a tour of his facilities, which gets interrupted by Isaac's daughter Sari and her robot dog Sparkplug. As Sari is carted off to her lessons by a robot tutor, Isaac shows the schoolkids a nanotech lab, just in time to witness a roach infused with microbots grow out of control and start consuming everything in sight. Isaac tries to keep things calm, but the monster busts out of the lab...

The monster continues to grow, absorbing just about everything it touches to increase its size and power. In the process, it destroys a lot of the factory. Captain Fanzone, the S.W.A.T team, the fire department, ambulances, and robot drones arrive, but the creature absorbs several of the responding vehicles, too. Fanzone uses a bazooka-type weapon and destroys the beast, despite Sumdac's objection. This protest proves well-founded, as the remnants of the creature start flowing back together again, save for one piece that drops into the nearby lake and works its way down to the ''Ark'', its nanites seeking the absorbable technology there. It infiltrates via a small breach in the outer hull, but thankfully, the ship's intruder alert systems are functional and awaken the Autobots before any damage is done. Examining the situation, they decide to have Teletran 1 give them Earth forms so they can blend in and help out. She quickly gets nabbed by the monster, but Bumblebee saves her, earning her trust and friendship. Prowl attempts to take on the bug-slug by himself, against Prime's orders, and gets absorbed. Prime orders Ratchet to join them in battle to save Prowl, but the old veteran insists that finding a "cure" code to neutralize the nanites' programming makes more sense than coming out and getting trashed. A somewhat chastened Prime agrees, and Ratchet soon delivers the goods. However, the new program must be uploaded by direct contact{{m-}}meaning from inside the monster. This means the smallest, fastest one of them has to do it. Bumblebee reluctantly takes on the task. The beast has been using some of Prowl's absorbed intelligence and comm link tech, though, so it knows what they're planning and is now smart enough to fight back better. Despite this, Bumblebee succeeds in delivering the code, and the bug dissolves into a dusty shower of deactivated nanites. Prowl is soon uncovered, but he's suffered grave wounds and must be taken back to the ''Ark'' for repairs. Sari pesters Bumblebee to be taken along, and her new friend reluctantly agrees, since there's no time to make her go away quietly.

Prime finds her almost immediately thereafter, but with no time left to spare away from Prowl, he has to bring her back with him to the repair table. Ratchet's prognosis is bleak, but Sari's All Spark-charged key abruptly reacts, glowing and tugging her toward Prowl. Bumblebee, seeming to grasp what's happening, helps her onto the table, and as she approaches, her key reshapes itself to fit into a slot on Prowl's chest. She inserts it, and with a burst of energy, the Autobot ninja is whole again. The Autobots then take Sari home and, after a brief misunderstanding, are made heroes and are even invited to a ceremony.

In outer space, Starscream sits aboard the damaged but functional Decepticon ship, babbling that he will find the All Spark, even though he's been doing so on his own for the last fifty solar cycles. The ships computers detect the traces of All Spark-like energy in action, and Starscream learns where the Autobots are...

The Autobots are later seen trying to fit in. Bulkhead gets firsthand experience in traffic jams, some birds mistake Prowl for the statue of the bald guy next to him, Bumblebee learns how organics fuel up, and Ratchet can't get a stasis nap without getting a parking ticket. Optimus Prime remarks that the Autobots are programmed to respect life, which they always understood to stem from the All Spark, but as organics are life, they must respect and protect them too. Optimus also expresses curiosity about how little organics are made. Sari's whispered explanation leaves him rather...shocked. The Autobots make a new home base out of a building Sari's dad got out of a merger, an abandoned auto factory that Bumblebee describes as a real fixer-upper{{m-}}a REAL fixer-upper. All of a sudden, they get alerted to a fire. The Autobots proceed to douse the blaze and save its victims, no problem, unaware they are being watched by Starscream.

The next day, during the inauguration ceremony for the Sumdac Fully Automated Rapid Transit System (F.A.R.T.S., for short), Starscream enters Earth's atmosphere and takes on a group of fighter jets. He destroys all but one, which he scans. As the civilians and Autobots watch the aerial display of the Crimson Angels, Issac Sumdac notices there is one more jet present than he payed for. That one jet then leaves the formation and streaks toward the ceremony platform, where it transforms into Starscream, who fires his null-ray cannons at the Autobots.

After a short fight, which the Autobots lose, Starscream knocks out Bumblebee and takes him, Issac, the mayor, and Capt. Fanzone hostage in the F.A.R.T.S. train, flying it to the top of a very tall tower. He then demands the Autobots deliver the All Spark if they want him to release the train car. The Autobots don't trust him, but don't want to risk human lives. Sari offers a plan, but they ignore her. She continues to tell a sob story until the Autobots listen. The Autobots proceed with her plan, and Prowl and Sari fly up to the transit pod to rescue the hostages while the other Autobots keep Starscream busy. Once Starscream realizes what's happening, he takes a brief beating but recovers quickly. Starscream then throws the train{{m-}}thus keeping his end of the deal{{m-}}with Sari, Prowl, and Bumblebee on top of/in it. Between Bumblebee's agility and Prowl's thrusters, Sari is rescued and the train lands without much damage. The Autobots then challenge Starscream to a friendly game of Keep Away, during which Starscream almost gets the All Spark, but Bulkhead gets it instead, because he said he got it. A furious Starscream unleashes a devastating, prolonged (as in nearly 12 seconds) null-ray blast on the Autobots, briefly knocking them all senseless.

Not ready to give up, Optimus climbs all the way up a building to get it back from Starscream. After a quick back-and-forth exchange of possessing it, both grab it at the same time. As they struggle, the All Spark opens and emits a strange energy wave that blasts Starscream away.

The explosion has left Prime dangling precariously, and he takes a tremendous plummet to the pavement. He notes weakly that he now knows what it feels like to be a hero, then dies, but Sari uses her All Spark key to revive him.<ref>This is something of an Optimus Prime record: Dead after only three episodes, revived a mere 75 seconds later. Way to go.</ref> The Autobots later go about fixing up Detroit, earning the enduring gratitude of the citizenry. Professor Sumdac is also grateful, for the Autobots saved him and Sari, but he fears what will happen if the Autobots—not to mention the rest of the world—were to discover the source of his robotic empire.

In deep deep space, Optimus Prime watches some old history videos, prompting Ratchet to complain about him watching that "junk" when the other members of the crew need assistance. Outside, Bulkhead, dangling from a high rock by his wrecking ball (and becoming quite queasy in the process), is freed by Bumblebee, who also ends up taking a tumble. Bumblebee complains about the sheer amount of rocks blocking the space bridge node, and one is shattered unexpectedly by Prowl's throwing star. Prime gives his troops a speech about teamwork (which Prowl moans at theatrically), but at that point the space bridge lights up, sending rocks and Autobots flying. Fancy footwork by Optimus saves each of his teammates from the debris, and a well-aimed grappling line shuts down the bridge. With his subordinates stunned at their leader's skills, Prime is forced to admit he trained at Cybertron's military academy. Bumblebee's query as to what the hell he's doing on a nowhere maintenance assignment is left unanswered as they notice something glowing in the rubble.

Prime clears away the debris to reveal a large, chest-like object. Ratchet is horrified and immediately demands they throw it back into the space bridge, but an alert from [[Teletran 1]] announces the arrival of a signature consistent with the long-lost [[Decepticon]]s. Ratchet then announces they take the object and just out of there post-haste.

Onboard the ''[[Ark (Animated)|Ark]]'', Ratchet finally reveals what they've found: the [[All Spark (Animated)|All Spark]], the source of all Transformer life that was lost centuries ago. Optimus, worried about the oncoming Decepticon signal, contacts the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]] for help. After taking a bit of snark from Sentinel Prime, Optimus reveals what they found, which shuts Sentinel up fast. He then puts the crew through to Ultra Magnus, who tells Optimus Prime to stay put while they send reinforcements... and not to worry about that Decepticon thing. Optimus, considering this to be a really stupid move, orders the crew to start booking it out of there.

This proves wise, as the signal is indeed a Decepticon ship, a command ship, in fact, carrying the Decepticons' leader Megatron and his most dangerous minions. Onboard, Starscream, Lugnut, Blackarachnia and Blitzwing bicker at each other until Megatron arrives, shutting them all up. The Decepticons chase the Autobot ship, and Starscream volunteers to board them. Megatron quickly shoots that idea down. Just before he leaves, Starscream wishes his commander "luck" with a pat on the back... affixing a bomb to Megatron in the process.

Megatron makes his way to the ''Ark'' and begins to melt his way through its hull. Optimus uses external manipulator arms to grapple with Megatron, until the bomb detonates, sending the ship careening uncontrollably into a space bridge node, which explodes after they go through the gate. Starscream begins to make a speech declaring himself the new Decepticon leader, but the other three have abandoned ship, noting that the fireball from the space bridge explosion is only getting larger. Too late, Starscream realizes the trouble he's in...

An unknown distance away, the Autobot ship reappears above a [[Earth|small blue and green planet]]. Prime checks on his troops, but Megatron has gotten aboard, having survived the explosion, but at the cost of his right arm. Prime uses his grappling line to shut off the gravity, making it more difficult for Megatron to fight. All five Autobots face off against the Decepticon, but he's too strong. Prime and Megatron both end up in the storage bay where the All Spark is... and as the ship enters the atmosphere, Prime is able to blow the hatch and kick the screaming Megatron out of the ship.

On a small farm, a young boy hears a thud, and runs to find something has landed in their field, and is shocked to find a robotic head staring lifelessly up at him.

Meanwhile, Prime orders his team into emergency stasis pods to prepare for a crash landing. He manages to steer the ship away from the city below, and gets to a stasis pod just before the ship plunges into [[Lake Erie]].

Fifty years later, Detroit is a city of robots. Isaac Sumdac is talking to a public school class taking a tour of his facilities, which gets interrupted by Isaac's daughter Sari and her robot dog Sparkplug. As Sari is carted off to her lessons by a robot tutor, Isaac shows the schoolkids a nanotech lab, just in time to witness a roach infused with microbots grow out of control and start consuming everything in sight. Isaac tries to keep things calm, but the monster busts out of the lab...

This protest proves well-founded, as the remnants of the creature start flowing back together again, save for one piece that drops into the nearby lake and works its way down to the ''Ark'', its nanites seeking the absorbable technology there. The Autobots proceed with her plan, and Prowl and Sari fly up to the transit pod to rescue the hostages while the other Autobots keep Starscream busy. Once Starscream realizes what's happening, he takes a brief beating but recovers quickly. Starscream then throws the train{{m-}}thus keeping his end of the deal{{m-}}with Sari, Prowl, and Bumblebee on top of/in it. Between Bumblebee's agility and Prowl's thrusters, Sari is rescued and the train lands without much damage. The Autobots then challenge Starscream to a friendly game of Keep Away, during which Starscream almost gets the All Spark, but Bulkhead gets it instead, because he said he got it. A furious Starscream unleashes a devastating, prolonged (as in nearly 12 seconds) null-ray blast on the Autobots, briefly knocking them all senseless.

With the Autobots down, Starscream takes the All Spark from Optimus and blows a couple of blocks of Detroit right off the map. Not ready to give up, Optimus climbs all the way up a building to get it back from Starscream. After a quick back-and-forth exchange of possessing it, both grab it at the same time. As they struggle, the All Spark opens and emits a strange energy wave that blasts Starscream away.

The explosion has left Prime dangling precariously, and he takes a tremendous plummet to the pavement. He notes weakly that he now knows what it feels like to be a hero, then dies, but Sari uses her All Spark key to revive him.<ref>This is something of an Optimus Prime record: Dead after only three episodes, revived a mere 75 seconds later. Way to go.</ref> The Autobots later go about fixing up Detroit, earning the enduring gratitude of the citizenry. Professor Sumdac is also grateful, for the Autobots saved him and Sari, but he fears what will happen if the Autobots—not to mention the rest of the world—were to discover the source of his robotic empire.

Unseen by Sumdac, one of the [[Sensors#Optics|optics]] of his source of technology glows in a darkened room. Megatron still functions...
