Synopsis
As an armored car leaves a bank in the dead of night, the Angry Archer robs it and makes his escape from the cops by snagging onto a fire engine, thinking the police won’t stop a firetruck heading to a fire. It’s the Archer’s mistake, however, because he's hitched a ride on the back of Optimus Prime. Prime, playing hero, subdues the thief easily and smiles for evening news cameras.

The next day, in a local park, Prowl observes a cat stalking a bird and finds it amazing, only to have his nature watch cut short by awestruck humans and camera-bots. He heads back huffily to the new Autobot headquarters, an abandoned car factory. The other Autobots are in the middle of installing the world’s largest flat-panel TV in their new home and sharing their views on their newfound stardom. Prowl returns, upset with the constant interruptions, and goes to his Japanese-decorated room. In his room, Prowl lectures Optimus on his fascination with the Earth's animals, only to have that cut short by Bumblebee's antics. Annoyed again, Prowl leaps off into a tree.

Meanwhile, Sari tries to enter her father's private lab. She uses her Key to open the door, but Professor Sumdac leaves with her before she can enter more than a step or two, reminding her no one but he is allowed in there. As they depart, residual energy from the Key floats over and reactivates the head of Megatron. Once his higher functions take control, Megatron is horrified to discover that he is without a body and is hardwired into some sort of primitive computer. As he searches for answers, he brings up video footage of the last battle between the Autobots and Starscream, including the latter’s confession of sabotaging his leader. Megatron is understandably ticked, and not just at Starscream's betrayal, but on the sheer helplessness of his situation. Not only do the Decepticons believe that he is dead, meaning there is no hope of rescue, but the AllSpark is finally within his reach, and he lacks the hands to take it! While lamenting his lack of a body, he discovers his new power to control machines around him. Picking up a discarded, miniature robot, Megatron decides that it's time to get...proactive.

After trashing her Tutor Bot using the AllSpark Key, Sari tells Professor Sumdac she is leaving to the Autobot base for a slumber party. Overhearing this, Megatron sends one of Isaac's pocketbots to hide in her backpack so he can search the base for the AllSpark.

At the Autobot base, Prowl watches a nature show about caterpillars evolving into butterflies, which he finds fascinating. Bumblebee, of course, isn't interested and changes the channel on him. Annoyed yet again, Prowl pounces on Bumblebee like a cat to prove what he has learned from animals before leaping to a high point to meditate. Later, Bumblebee and Bulkhead play high-tech Twister™ with much difficulty; Bumblebee then challenges Prowl to try. Prowl jumps in and easily touches all the spots Sari announces. Having won the game, he leaves to his room. Disgusted that the Autobots could ever get their hands on the AllSpark, Megatron uses the pocketbot to begin searching.

Sari then tells ghost stories to the rest of the Autobots and, with a little help from the AllSpark Key, succeeds in scaring Bumblebee. Meanwhile, since the pocketbot's search for the AllSpark has proven fruitless, Megatron decides to kill the Autobots and extract info on its location from their lifeless shells. He takes control of the assembly line robots and uses pincers, riveters, a big electromagnet and a die press to pummel the Autobots. Prowl shows up and realizes that the machines are detecting the Autobots by use of motion sensors. He instructs everyone to be still, then strike in order to get to the control panel. However, while the motion sensors can't see him, Megatron can, so he gets caught by the machines as well. With Ratchet injured, the only bot left free to move is Bumblebee, who manages to listen to Prowl long enough to outrace the machines and destroy the control panel.

In a parting gesture, Megatron cuts open a fuel tank perilously close to a fire, but the Autobots team up and launch it into the sky, where it explodes harmlessly. As they wonder who tried to kill them, they discover the pocketbot under Megatron's control, but Bulkhead accidentally smashes it after catching it before they can study it.

Back at the lab, Megatron has a fit over his loss and decides to reveal more Cybertronian technology to Sumdac in order to get a new body.

At the end, Prowl again coaches Bumblebee in the art of stillness while both play a game of high-tech Twister™.
Notes
Continuity errors
* When the Angry Archer turns around to notice he's being followed by police cars, the bags of money he'd just tied to his waist are nowhere to be seen. They're back in other shots, though.

* Sari says "Right foot on green." during the Twister™ game. The only problem is there are no green spaces in the next shot, just purple, orange and yellow. (After that shot, they seem to appear as normal.) At the end of the episode, the problem is reversed--there are no yellow spaces, but there are green ones.

* During the assembly line's rampage, Ratchet is injured after the explosion of some airborne gas tanks. He remains in a damaged state until the very end of the episode, when, in the close-up group shot of the Autobots, he can be seen completely undamaged before the camera focuses on Bulkhead attempting to grab the pocketbot as it runs out the door.

Transformers references
* In a different kind of Transformers reference, the Angry Archer is designed to resemble Hasbro's Aaron Archer.

* Similarly, the bank shown in the opening sequence is the Izzo National Bank, named for Hasbro executive and series co-producer Joshua Izzo.

* When Megatron comes online, his first coherent words are "I am Megatron!", the same thing his movie counterpart said.

Real-world references
* Bumblebee's line "I make it look good!" is paraphrased from Will Smith in Men in Black

* A high-tech, Transformer-scaled version of Twister™ is repeatedly played in this episode.

Trivia
* In this episode, Tutor Bot fails to teach Sari about the quadratic equation. It leads a thankless life.
* According to the Animated production staff at 2008, the "b-list" villain of this episode was originally meant to be a humanized version of Octopunch instead of the Angry Archer. Reportedly, Octopunch would have looked exactly like his G1 counterpart, except with the addition of boxing gloves.
* When Prowl jumps on Bumblebee, Bumblebee, seemingly, blushes. Now that needs Explaining!

Ironhide is the Autobots' resident weapons specialist and Optimus Prime's old friend. He is old because he is hard. He's probably had enough replacement parts to build a small army, but Ironhide doggedly refuses to roll over and die for anyone. He'll fight to the bitter end and take down more than his fair share of Decepticons in the process.

Ironhide doesn't always see optic to optic with Prime, despite their friendship. He's perhaps the more practical of the two, and more than a little trigger happy, so he can be more willing to push the Autobot code to the limit if he thinks it will get the job done faster.

Millions of years ago, Ironhide was a captain in the Cybertronian defense force. He and commander Starscream were to report to Protector Megatron, but Starscream was late due to an encounter with hostile aliens in the Eshems Nebula and Ironhide almost took off without him. Later, during an attack by the same aliens, Ironhide commanded the ground defense units in the city of Metrotitan, near the Simfur temple. When Bumblebee and Cliffjumper were pinned down inside the temple, they considered contacting Ironhide for suggestions on what to do. Defiance issue 1

After the aliens were driven out and Megatron assumed his dictatorship of Cybertron, Ironhide found himself belonging to an increasingly violent and unstable military. He was present when Megatron ordered Starscream to conduct some clandestine operation of which Ironhide did not take part in. The disenchanted Ironhide turned his back on the military after Megatron's declared Optimus's followers to be traitors, and that the army now flew under the banner of the Decepticons. Defiance issue 3

Disillusioned with what the military had become, Ironhide wandered far from Trypticon to search for answers, and so preoccupied was his thoughts that he was captured by forces loyal to Optimus Prime. Brought before the rebel leader, Ironhide pledged his alliegence to Optimus' Autobots, stating that he had no desire to destroy the innocent, and he knew the Autobots to be innocent of what Megatron charged them with, and besides, they needed somebody with his experience as a soldier. When the Autobots discovered that Megatron was building a massive warship, they thought it would be best to build one of their own, though they lacked the means to do so. Ironhide, however, knew of a fix-er-upper that they could repair in secret.Defiance issue 4

Tales of the Fallen issue 2
As more gathered to Optimus Prime's cause, a young Autobot named Sideswipe came to train under Ironhide. After Ironhide showed him the ropes, he went on to be assigned to a settlement of displaced Autobots. That assignment went disastrously, as Demolishor massacred the entire settlement, leaving Ironhide's student for dead. Sideswipe returned to the same unit as his former mentor embittered, suffering from survivor's guilt. Noting the new recklessness and ruthlessness that Sideswipe displayed, Ironhide attempted to reach out to his old student. Angrily, Sideswipe declared that he had grown beyond Ironhide's tutelage. Tales of the Fallen issue 2

Sometime later, Optimus Prime knew the war would tear the planet apart unless the reason for fighting was removed from the planet. He revealed to his soldiers the plan to capture the All Spark and take it with them in their ship, the Ark, but what he didn't reveal to all but a select few was that they were really going to blast the All Spark into deep space to both distract the Decepticons and to buy them valuable time. Ironhide was one of those who followed Prime on the Ark to chase after the All Spark, which, unbeknownst to the Autobots, had locked onto the position of a solar harvester in a distant star system. Defiance issue 4

During the war, Ironhide ran training missions for the younger Autobot recruits. These missions would often have the recruits thrown into the sharp end: one, involving Signal Flare, Strongarm and Skyblast, abruptly turned into a raid on a Decepticon base and rescuing a prisoner. He also developed skills at resisting psychic interrogation techniques. Transformers Comic issue 5

He would later be one of three Autobots who tried to prevent Megatron from reaching the All Spark. They hadn't, however, expected for Devastator to be demented enough to set off a foldspace warhead at pointblank range - a weapon that warped everyone to different parts of the galaxy. Transformers Comic issue 2

After spending some time planet-hopping, Ironhide detected Ratchet's homing signal and headed for it. En route, he was captured by an alien spacecraft, one that appeared to belong to immense entities that created the All Spark and wanted it back. Ironhide, shrugging off a psychic probe, worked out these entities were an illusion - the ship was a derelict that had been salvaged by a group of aquatic aliens who wanted to find & exploit the All Spark. Ironhide removed their ability to do so by taking the derelict's device that tracked down All Spark energy. While he then went on his way, he was left wondering what race had originally owned this vessel and what their connection to the All Spark was... Transformers Comic issue 5
After meeting up with Ratchet, the two began searching for Jazz.
They attempted to fight back - oh, you know those sabot rounds that are suppose to harm Transformers? They had no effect. When Optimus wanted Nucleon to be secretly brought from the long-dead Cybertron to Earth, Ironhide was the one chosen to lead the mission (Bumblebee, Arcee and Armorhide with him). Ironhide warned his team to be on their guard, trust nothing, and that they'd die if they got misty-eyed about being home. Soon after landing, they ran into Stockade's Decepticons, and Ironhide was challenged to hand-to-hand combat to resolve the situation. The look on Ironhide's face as Stockade shrugged off his strongest blow was a joy to behold (but not for Ironhide cos he got battered). Transformers Comic issue 17 Ironhide absolutely refused to back down or surrender, leading to Stockade beating him up a few more times. When it became clear the Decepticons were going to use all the Nucleon to summon an alien entity into Cybertron's core, Ironhide decided to provide the "distraction" so the other Autobots could stop the plan: that distraction being to run over Divebomb and smash into things, which ended when Stockade smashed him up one last time. Transformers Comic issue 18
Responding to Bumblebee's call for assistance, Ironhide and the other Autobots under Optimus Prime's direct command came to Earth, with the old soldier landing in a suburban pool. As he climbed out of the water, a little human girl asked him if he was (of all things) the tooth fairy before he quickly hid behind some trees when the child's parents exited the house. He scanned their GMC Topkick truck and transformed, leaving the residence. He linked up with Jazz and Ratchet, and they proceeded to the rendezvous point, where they met up with Optimus and Bumblebee. After meeting Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes, Ironhide displayed an eagerness to show off his cannons, and made a classic Clint Eastwood impression to show it by saying "You feeling lucky, punk?"(which earned him an instant reproof from Optimus).

Going to the Witwicky residence, Ironhide had lubricant released upon him by a rodent. This unpleasant situation was made worse by Sam Witwicky's frantic refusal to let him shoot it. Ironhide relented, despite the fact that it would cause rust. He also suggested shooting the parents, as they were interfering with Sam's search for Captain Witwicky's glasses. Optimus reminded him that they don't hurt humans and scolded his weapons expert, to which Ironhide meekly responded that he merely thought it should remain an option.

After Sam, Mikaela and his parents were captured by Sector Seven, Ironhide got a real good chance to show off his cannons when he and the other Autobots totally outclassed the S7 agents by instantly disarming them of their weapons, then rescuing the boy and his girl. Unfortunately, their escape was to be short-lived, as Bumblebee was captured by the mysterious agents after saving Sam and Mikaela's lives. The next morning, when Optimus Prime was pondering their next move, Ironhide asked why they had to save the humans, prompting Prime to go into one of his long speeches about freedom and sacrifice, concluding that the humans need not pay for the mistakes of Cybertron-kind, and if need be, he would destroy the All Spark by fusing it with his own spark. Inspired by his words, Ironhide debated no further, and the Autobots set out for the location of the All Spark, Hoover Dam. Halfway there, to their surprise, they saw Bumblebee leading a column of Sector Seven assault vehicles, so Ironhide and the rest of the Autobots joined the unit.

During the final battle at Mission City, Ironhide realized that the F-22 Raptor that appeared to be providing Captain Lennox's troops with air cover was in fact his former comrade Starscream. Ordering the others to take cover, Ironhide and Bumblebee lifted a discarded truck full of Furby toys to protect the humans against Starscream's strafing run. It worked, but the explosion threw Ironhide back and crippled Bumblebee. Soon afterwards, Devastator attacked, forcing Ironhide to do several somersaults to avoid the Decepticon's missiles, thus totally scaring the crap out of a lady sitting in the middle of the street.

Ironhide and Ratchet took it upon themselves to protect Sam from Starscream and Blackout as he made his way to a rooftop where he could pass the All Spark to a military helicopter. Unfortunately, Starscream blocked off Sam's path, prompting the Autobot guardians to engage the more powerful Decepticon immediately. After taking several missiles in the gut, Ironhide implored Sam to keep running.

After the destruction of Megatron and the All Spark, Ironhide somberly cradled the body of the fallen Jazz while Ratchet informed Optimus Prime that there was nothing they could do. Ironhide then gave Captain Lennox a ride home and spent the remainder of the day observing Sam and Mikaela making out on the hood of Bumblebee's vehicle mode. Transformers (2007)
Ironhide decided to show them what real firepower was and blew up the van with one shot. As the Autobots prepared to move out and flee the approaching Sector Seven and government forces, Ironhide placed Jazz's remains into a trailer Sergeant Epps had found, and together the soldiers had a moment of silence for their fallen comrade. A month later, after he was approached by Agent Simmons, Lennox requested the Autobots help escort the human convoy transporting the remains of the fallen Decepticons. Ironhide and the other Autobots arrived at Sector Seven's secret Nevada desert installation to participate in the convoy that would transport the Decepticon bodies to San Francisco. He disagreed with Optimus Prime's decision to leave the All Spark fragment in the custody of Sector Seven while they were away, but nevertheless respected his commander's decision. On the freeway, Optimus Prime had a change of heart and sent Ironhide and Bumblebee back to retrieve the All Spark fragment. Unfortunately, Ironhide, being the slower of the two Autobots, didn't reach the base until after Wreckage and Starscream had caused significant death and destruction. Amidst the scene of devastation at Sector Seven's Nevada base, Ironhide praised Bumblebee for his courage in attempting to defend the humans, but Bumblebee regretted that he could not save them all. After Jazz's burial two weeks later, Optimus Prime accepted a proposal from Captain Lennox that the humans and the Autobots form a special unit tasked with defending their mutual home. The Autobots began training with their human allies on the island of Diego Garcia, however, the lack of coordination meant even Bumblebee showed up the humans. Ironhide opined that Bumblebee's shot was "awesome". Regardless or some teething issues, the team rolled out when the Decepticon Swindle was spotted in San Francisco. Alliance issue 3

On the plane trip to the city, Ironhide commented on the likelihood of Swindle and Dead End putting up a fight, and how he hated flying. On the safe, stable ground, Lennox gave orders, Ratchet and Epps were assigned to team two, who would set the trap. En-route to the Decepticons, Ratchet and Ironhide bantered about how the former's vehicle mode was more suited to N.E.S.T.'s cover story of a chemical spill, while the latter asserted that he was the more stylish of the pair. After the Decepticons were disposed of, Major Lennox and Optimus Prime decided to send Bumblebee back to the United States to once again assume the role of Sam's guardian. Ironhide reminded his little buddy to stay out of trouble, at least until the larger Autobot arrived to take over the protector role. Soon, more Decepticons were spotted on Earth, and Ironhide was deployed to Italy to deal with Fracture's team. After Reverb and Gunbarrel had been destroyed, NEST forces led Fracture to Ironhide, who rammed the female Decepticon off the cliff road she was racing upon. Somewhere in the United States, Barricade managed to evade capture or destruction, forcing Ironhide to give Bumblebee warning. Alliance issue 4
Ironhide was reunited with Sideswipe at Diego Garcia after the younger bot had answered Optimus Prime's homing beacon and joined NEST. Unable to reach his former trainee with words, Ironhide was reduced to performing damage control in the skirmish at Montevideo, Uruguay. Ironhide was commanding officer at the NEST base at Edwards Air Force Base, California. To his intense annoyance, Skids and Mudflap had turned up, claiming to have a message for Optimus Prime and only him. Since they'd cried wolf before and Optimus was busy on another mission, Ironhide refused. So the twins ambushed him with piles of crates so they could reach NEST's ops room and send in a call. Ironhide hurt them for this.

He grew more frustrated when, after NEST picked up a Decepticon signal heading for Las Vegas and Ironhide headed up a strike team, the twins pleaded to come along. He bluntly stated they couldn't be trusted not to screw up the way they were going, and if they wanted his trust they'd have to earn it.
Once in Las Vegas, Ironhide led his team to capture the Decepticon Grindor. The target used his rotors to blast cars at everyone, knocking Ironhide over, though the human soldiers under Sergeant Dundee completed the mission. Then the twins turned up to earn his trust and show their skills! ...which caused Grindor to be accidentally freed. This time, seeming to notice his way of dealing with the twins wasn't helping matters, Ironhide calmly pointed out that they'd made a mistake, but so does everyone: the trick is to learn from them. Transformers Comic issue 2.3 He had them sent to be trained by Sideswipe, but didn't act on their claims of important info. Transformers Comic issue 2.4
Ironhide acted as an Autobot support unit in Shanghai as NEST hunted for Demolishor. He chased after the massive Decepticon as it roared through the streets before Optimus Prime was deployed from the air and attacked Demolishor, crashing him into a warehouse. Ironhide stood with his commander as Optimus prepared to deliver the killing blow, listening to Demolishor's warning about The Fallen's return before he died. Ironhide returned to base, resting in his alternate mode in his hangar while Optimus conferred with William Lennox, General Morshower and Theodore Galloway.

Later, Ironhide accompanied the Autobots to rescue Sam Witwicky from Megatron and Starscream, but was too late, for the revived Decepticon leader had killed Optimus in combat. When Ironhide returned to an American air base with Optimus' body, he was surrounded by military forces under Galloway, who had managed to secure NEST's deactivation following multiple Decepticon attacks around the planet. Furious that the humans dared to point a weapon at him, Ironhide almost lost his temper, but Lennox convinced him to not turn on the non-NEST soldiers. Ratchet recommended leaving Earth, but Ironhide argued he believed Optimus would not want them to abandon the humans.

Ironhide was to retreat with the other Autobots to Diego Garcia until Lennox received a message from Witwicky and his friends to come to Egypt, having figured out the Decepticons' scheme. Lennox managed to trick Galloway into jumping out of the plane carrying the soldiers and Prime's body, while the rest of the Autobots in the second plane quickly cut through the nets containing them. Ironhide then advised the crew to open the doors and let him out of the plane. NEST parachuted into a small village near the Pyramids, but soon lost communication when Starscream released an EMP blast at them.

During the defensive operations of NEST's position, Lennox decided to send a team to locate Sam, and Ironhide and Arcee immediately announced that they would lead the team. Transforming to vehicle mode, Ironhide rolled out with a number of soldiers and Arcee. After finding the humans, they were ambushed by several Decepticons, with both Arcee and Ironhide hit numerous times while providing cover fire for their friends, and told Sam and Mikaela to run while they drew their fire. Ironhide survived, albeit heavily damaged, and had to run for his life (ejecting his weapons in the process) when a United States Air Force B-1B Lancer bomber arrived delivering 2000-pound JDAM bombs, obliterating the remaining the Decepticon troops in the area. Ironhide arrived on Earth alongside the other Autobots upon Bumblebee's call. As Sector Seven forces closed in on them, Jazz was given the task of drawing the human authorities' attention away from the others. When Jazz soon found himself trapped by both human agents and Decepticons, Ironhide was sent to rescue him (without, Prime ordered him, another incident like that on Kaiba-5), a task that ended with his tangling with a Mixmaster unit in a construction lot.
Shortly afterwards, he responded to Jazz's S.O.S. call, but was too late; the warrior had been killed by Brawl. Enraged, Ironhide engaged the tank, smashing through the backup drone-units before finally taking on Brawl himself. Transformers The Game (console)
Decepticon campaign
As the Decepticons closed in on the All Spark within Mission City, Blackout was tasked with bringing down the mighty Ironhide. Ironhide's powerful cannons, force shielding and hordes of backup drones made this fight incredibly difficult for Blackout, but the mammoth Decepticon was finally able to take Ironhide out. Transformers The Game (console)
Autobot Campaign
In the Autobot Campaign, Ironhide was training Bumblebee since he hasn't
been in combat. Then he went to Shangai and destroyed a couple of Decepticons.
After, Sideways came and tried to kill him, but failed. After doing work in
Shangai, he went to the West Coast and escorted a NEST squadron to the HQ.
Ironhide wasn't in any East Coast or Cairo Autobot missions.
*Ironhide Vs. Desert Blackout (Legends "Allspark Battles" two-pack, 2008)

: An all-new Ironhide tooling that packs considerable accuracy into his small, simple design. Unlike the Voyager class toy, Legends Ironhide stores his cannons in the truck's bed. He comes with a desert scheme redeco of Legends class Blackout.

: Amusingly, this version of Ironhide is the only American toy release that has full-length exhaust stacks. Also, there are many complaints about the fists sticking out of the back of the truck and the weird truck proportions.

Voyager Class toys
*Ironhide (Voyager Class, 2007)
**Japanese ID Number: MA-09
**Accessories: Left & right cannons, 4 missiles

:Ironhide transforms into a modified black 2006 GMC Topkick 4500 four-wheel drive pickup truck. Although Hasbro's official stock photos and early packaged samples featured two real-life accurate full length exhaust smokestacks behind the rear cabin, they have been slightly shortened for safety and durability reasons for the actual release of the toy. Otherwise, however, the vehicle mode is very accurate to the real prop truck... well, aside from the fact that Ironhide's massive missile launchers are quite visible underneath the vehicle. Despite rumors to the contrary, TakaraTomy's Japanese release of the toy features the same shortened smokestacks as the Hasbro version.

:Ironhide features an Automorph gimmick in his legs during transformation: As the user swings down his feet, all of the panels that make up his legs automatically shift and fold into place. This gimmick does not affect Ironhide's articulation. Confusingly, the instructions omit the exact positioning of the roof panels and rear window on his back, though they can fold into a compact design for maximum articulation.

:In robot mode, his arm-mounted cannons are inactive while mounted on both arms. However, detaching the left arm cannon and combining it with the right arm creates a huge functional missile launcher that is almost as big as Ironhide himself. The missile-launching mechanism itself isn't the typical spring-loaded button design, instead relying on a pressure-launch system to fire the missiles from the four barrels.
:The peg that holds his windshield is extremely prone to cracking, which makes it become loose, and might even result in breakage. Oddly, the back of Ironhide's headsculpt resembles Soundwave to some extent. Whether or not this was just coincidence or some kind of elaborate in-joke remains to be seen.
:Released as part of the "Allspark Power" refresh of the Movie toyline, Offroad Ironhide is a fairly extensive redeco of Voyager class Ironhide in colors reminiscent of the Generation 2 Go-Bot Motormouth. As he's now made of several colors of plastic, he's no longer the most monochromatic toy in the Movie line.

:Premium Ironhide is a redeco of the previous released Voyager class Ironhide, painted in a gloss black finish, silver trim on his smokestacks, Road Armor winch and side turn signal detailing, but with them are several inaccurate deco additions including silver detailing to the rims, frosted windows, silver paint on the roof ridges and a large Autobot sigil tampographed onto the hood.

:In robot mode Ironhide is considerably more accurate with gold and gunmetal detailing colors which were missing from the first Voyager release. His large cannons are now molded in mostly black plastic, then painted metallic teal with gold detailing.

:Part of the Fast Action Battlers line, "Cannon Blast" Ironhide is a simpler version of the larger toy, geared more towards the younger set who might find the big toy too complicated to transform. He still transforms into the customized GMC Topkick. He features a spring-loaded missile launcher in his left cannon. But, thanks to the simpler transformation, the hood and wheels trap his arms below the wheel. :Cyber Slammers Ironhide is an amazingly cute GMC Topkick that transforms into an amazingly cute trigger happy weapons specialist. 'Slam' his robot mode down into car mode and he rolls along, slowly transforming back up into robot mode. Like most Cyber Slammers, Ironhide manages to cram most of his vehicle mode's major details into a compact, super-deformed version of that mode.
: Revenge of the Fallen Voyager class Ironhide is a retool of the toy from the 2007 Transformers movie line. The original arm cannons have been replaced by new, more accurate (and less gimmicky) cannons that can be connected together and mounted on top of Ironhide's truck bed cover. The truck bed cover and arm mountings for this Ironhide's cannons are unchanged from the 2007 movie line voyagers. So any voyager Ironhide can carry and use both the original and new weapons. The large cannon features screwdriving firing action in which the barrel section twists forward before firing the missile. The small cannon can retract its barrel. Since the weapons can connect to each other, the figure (and all other uses of this mold) can hold these and the combined 2007 cannons at once. All four cannons can fit on his truck mode as well, the old ones underneath and the new ones on top. Ironhide's head has been replaced with a more accurate, asymmetrical head. Ironhide also features a new grey colour scheme with some red pin stripes and a NEST logo on each of his doors.
: A packaging variant determines whether the missile is loaded or unloaded.
* In the initial draft of the movie, Ironhide was not present among the Autobot cast. However, he replaced female Autobot Arcee in later drafts and the subsequent final script.
* In the movie, Ironhide's guns alone have 10,000 CGI parts each. Yet this was somehow passed over in the Academy Awards for talking polar bears.
* If you look really closely, you can see a large scar over Ironhide's right eye, which is kinda cool.
* If you watch his movements when he first emerges from the pool in the first movie, he walks with a slight limp.
* Apparently, he's a bit of a fan of Batman. Transformers Comic issue 2.2
* The NEST "Special Programs" logo on the first Revenge of the Fallen Voyager class Ironhide's toy is based upon a shoulder patch on Graham's uniform.
:Ironhide is an Autobot from the live-action film continuity family, also sometimes known as the "Tooth Fairy".

He has more guns than a smaller third-world country, and he may or may not have blown up a planet with said guns.

They found he was the prisoner of a living, predatory planet; Ironhide reasoned with the planet to let their friend go (i.e. shot it repeatedly with his slag-off great cannon) and they took him back to Cybertron with them. Transformers Comic issue 6

Following the Mission City battle, he got into another battle with zombie Decepticons. Already injured and exhausted from the last fight, he almost fell before Ratchet found a solution. Transformers Comic issue 8

After that, he worked with a United States Marine Corps team to track down Scorponok. The Decepticon led them into a trap and took control of Ironhide's motor functions, causing him to attack the humans. They attempted to fight back - oh, you know those sabot rounds that are suppose to harm Transformers? They had no effect. Luckily, one of the soldiers was able to sever Scorponok's connection before he killed them all, and Ironhide killed the Decepticon the old-fashioned way: brutally. Transformers Comic issue 8

notetitantlg

In a reality where the Decepticons won, Ironhide was part of the Autobot resistance on Earth and was in contact with reinforcements from Cybertron. Transformers Comic issue 9 He and Ratchet were in a mission in Savannah, Georgia, the site of the Decepticon's cyberforming process. Transformers Comic issue 10 Using Payload disguises, they sneaked in and Ironhide worked out how to destroy the facility and save the planet, only to find Bonecrusher let them in to kill them! Transformers Comic issue 11 Ironhide got the slag kicked out of him until Ratchet saved him, Transformers Comic issue 12 but he made up for it in keeping the Decepticons distracted while Ratchet finally took out the All Spark. Transformers Comic issue 13

He was stationed near a refugee shelter in Savannah following the liberation of America. When Decepticons attacked the shelter, a position with no strategic value, Ironhide suspected it was a trap—which it was, an attempt to keep the Autobots in a position where a manipulated NATO could kill them all. Transformers Comic issue 14 Ironhide showed annoyance that the humans couldn't see the Autobots were just trying to help, and he replied with a curt "fine" when he was ordered not to return fire on any human tanks. Transformers Comic issue 15

Alongside Longarm, he protected San Diego from a Decepticon raid, talking the younger Autobot through how to best drive off the attackers. Transformers Comic issue 16

When Unicron entered Cybertron's core and began reshaping the planet, Ironhide ordered Bumblebee to flee from falling rubble and not wait for him... and got squished. The other Autobots pulled him out, and he decided the only logical response to Unicron's invasion was to blow up the planet. Transformers Comic issue 19 Luckily, a newly arrived Optimus had a better plan: Cut off the Nucleon that Unicron was using to power his physical form. Ironhide was part of this mission and led the defensive action against Unicron's internal defender drones, but lost his mega-bazooka in the process. Transformers Comic issue 20

Upon returning to Earth and being fired on by Decepticons (who had seized Autobase and the six hundred square miles around it), he said he's the last guy to run from a firefight but they should... run from a firefight. He was both respectful of the fact the Autobots had not been around to stop the Decepticons and recognised the President was a blatant Decepticon slave. Transformers Comic issue 21

He was part of the raid to get Mikaela Banes back from the Decepticons, noting the Decepticons were letting them enter Savannah. His big contribution to the mission was to get thwacked by Blackout. Transformers Comic issue 22

Optimus and Ironhide both realised Allen would be used against them, and so two weeks before he was, Ironhide covertly contatced Tom Banachek and set him up to identify every Decepticon cerebro-strip puppet in the US government. Transformers Comic issue 25 When it became clear Allen was going to order the Autobots off American soil, Ironhide headed off to do something mysteeeeerious with Bumblebee, which turned out to be setting things up so they could fake their own deaths. Transformers Comic issue 23 This gave the Autobots the freedom to rig up the means to forcibly exile the Decepticons on Cybertron, and once Banachek was done the Autobots returned to hit the Decepticon Heartland.

Ironhide was in the spearhead, acting as Prime's second-in-command and having his dialogue stolen by Strongarm. He forcibly teleported Starscream to Cybertron, helping finally win a lasting peace for Earth. Transformers Comic issue 25

In the immediate aftermath of the battle in Mission City, Ironhide accompanied Captain Lennox and his soldiers, hunting for creatures created by the All Spark energies. They had already destroyed three of the creatures when another one fled into a red minivan, which Lennox's men peppered with small arms fire. However, the Autobots had been shadowed on their way to the meeting place by a police car, whom both Lennox and Ironhide guessed was Barricade. Alliance issue 1

He found that Sideswipe had changed little, and if anything had become even more of a loose cannon in his pursuit of Demolishor. Unable to reach his former trainee with words, Ironhide was reduced to performing damage control in the skirmish at Montevideo, Uruguay. However in the aftermath Sideswipe saw the destruction he had wrought and the fear it engendered in the humans, begrudgingly admitting that Ironhide had been right all along. Tales of the Fallen issue 2

Barricade was meant to be a solo letters page host, but Ironhide forcibly took co-ownership of the section. He spends his time undermining and dissing Barricade. Particularly, he seems focused on the fact Barricade was beaten by Bumblebee, viewing this as laughable and Bumblebee as a weak fighter (#2). (Maybe he's trying to cover something...) He later began to admit Bumblebee is hardcore (#3).

Momentarily safe, Ironhide and the others witnessed Sam resurrect Optimus Prime with the Matrix of Leadership, and his leader's subsequent defeat of The Fallen. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
Autobot campaign
Ironhide arrived on Earth alongside the other Autobots upon Bumblebee's call. As Sector Seven forces closed in on them, Jazz was given the task of drawing the human authorities' attention away from the others. When Jazz soon found himself trapped by both human agents and Decepticons, Ironhide was sent to rescue him (without, Prime ordered him, another incident like that on Kaiba-5), a task that ended with his tangling with a Mixmaster unit in a construction lot.

A brief aside with Optimus Prime during the rescue revealed Ironhide's actions may have resulted in the destruction of a small planet at one point. Ironhide maintained that it was going to blow up anyway.

In Mission City, Ironhide once again was called to the rescue, as Bumblebee was trapped by a massive swarm of Energon drones activated by the All Spark. Ironhide waded into the thick of them and destroyed every last one. Shortly afterwards, he responded to Jazz's S.O.S. call, but was too late; the warrior had been killed by Brawl.

He still transforms into the customized GMC Topkick. He features a spring-loaded missile launcher in his left cannon. But, thanks to the simpler transformation, the hood and wheels trap his arms below the wheel.
Trivia
The Trainbots take center stage when six shadowy figures attack countries all across the world.

:English/Malay dub name: "The Shadow of Evil"

Synopsis
The Trainbots have brought Daniel and Wheelie on a trip to their birthplace of Japan, but the fun is brought to a crashing halt when a video transmission cuts into a large-screen television on the side of a building, displaying a shadowy robotic figure who demands the entirety of Japan's energy, or he will destroy the country. Unable to identify the mystery mech, Ultra Magnus contacts Athenia, and Rodimus Prime and the Autobot Headmasters depart for Earth.

On Chaar, Cyclonus and Scourge are incensed that anyone other than the Decepticons would dare to steal Earth's energy, and vow to steal it from the unknown robot, despite a strange lack of interest in their plan from Galvatron and the Decepticon Headmasters. Heading to Earth, they receive no more help from a relaxing Sixshot.

Back on Earth, the Autobots have discovered that, in addition to Japan, five other countries have been threatened by shadowy beings—America by a giant gun, the USSR by a tank, Great Britain by a winged wolf, France by a jet and Canada by an armored car. The Trainbots, however, are not worried, convinced that their six-strong team can handle the six blackmailers, but their relaxation is interrupted by the discovery of Ratbat, spying on the group. Ratbat escapes and returns to Soundblaster, who reports back to the Decepticon base that the Autobot Headmasters have come to Earth. Cyclonus and Scourge, however, are more concerned with the revelation that there are six enemies to fight, even if Sixshot is not.

In London, the winged wolf shows itself, and the Headmasters and Metroplex head out, only to arrive too late. While they are there, however, New York is attacked by the giant gun, and both the Autobots and Cyclonus and Scourge are unable to get there in time to stop it. As Rodimus speculates that the blackmailers will hit Japan next, Daniel and the Trainbots enter—the brash young Headmasters are disgusted that they have been shopping in Tokyo while everyone else has been worried about the blackmailers. The Trainbots profess to have been patrolling Japan while Daniel went shopping, but an argument ensues, and when Daniel tries to intervene, Chromedome silences the boy, causing him to run from the room. Chromedome follows, seeking to make amends, and discovers Daniel playing with a ninja star that he purchased. Intrigued, Chromedome learns from Daniel of Earth's stories of ninjas, and their ability to appear in many places at once, and the stories stir up the memory of the time an energy-stealing ninja able to duplicate himself and transform into six shapes visited planet Master and killed his friend Abel. Realising that the ninja is definitely their blackmailer, Chromedome vows revenge.

Tokyo soon comes under attack from the robotic villain, and the Trainbots plead to be allowed to defend their homeland. Rodimus allows it, and the team heads for Earth, merging into their combined form of Raiden to thrash the blackmailer. The fight takes a new twist, however, when Cyclonus and Scourge arrive with Trypticon, and the Headmasters rush to the Trainbots' aid, fending off Trypticon while Raiden deals with the blackmailer's various forms. Transforming into jet mode, the villain flees, but is pursued by both the Autobots and Cyclonus and Scourge, and when he is finally brought down, his identity is finally revealed—Sixshot! Duplicating and transforming to wolf mode, Sixshot savages Raiden, but the Headmasters, seeking to avenge Abel, beat him down and send him retreating.

Back on Chaar, an enraged Galvatron—in on the plan the whole time—pummels Cyclonus and Scourge for their incompetence, while on Earth, the Headmasters and Trainbots reconcile, and all is well.
Notes
Animation or technical errors
*When Sixshot attacks Tokyo in robot mode in the final stages of the episode, rather than being entirely shrouded in shadow, as he has been up to this point, he is in full colour. Although it was always astonishingly obvious that he was Sixshot just based on his silhouette, this must surely be a mistake, as the shocked reaction to his true identity does not come until he is blasted from the sky some minutes later.
*London is depicted as a fog-shrouded forest that people ride through on horseback. For God's sake now let me Drink my Cup of Tea.
*Ultra Magnus is sporting his all-white antennae again in this episode.
*During the flashback, the mysteriously shadowed Sixshot is using Twincast's weapon, which is also mysteriously shadowed.
*When New York City was last seen in "Only Human", it had tons of ridiculously goofy "futuristic" buildings about it, so tall they dwarfed even the World Trade Center. These buildings are nowhere to be found in this episode, and New York appears as it did in the '80s.

Transformers references
*For Transformers fans who already own his toy or otherwise know Sixshot's deal, it's really quite easy to forget the fact that this is the first time he has displayed his six-changing abilities in the series (indeed, it is the first time he has transformed at all, aside from the commercial bumper), hence the confusion of all the other characters. It also does not help the story that you can tell it's blatantly him from the second his robot-mode silhouette appears.
*In addition to debuting Sixshot's transformations, it also introduces his assorted ninja-related powers, including the ability to create numerous solid-light duplicates of himself (and, apparently, the ability to remain entirely cloaked in shadow, even in the middle of a shade-free, sun-baked desert). He'll be making good use of this power, and more, later in the series.
*The Trainbots merge into Raiden for the first time in this episode, but this is treated with shockingly little dramatic flourish, especially for Japan—in fact, absolutely nothing special is made of this first combination at all. Perhaps it's because we've been seeing them do it in the opening credits for eight episodes already, completely stifling any sense of surprise about the whole thing.

Miscellaneous trivia
*Along with "Thief in the Night", this is another episode which proves that the Soviet Union's 1991 collapse didn't occur in the animated series continuity. It's almost like it was produced before that happened, or something!
*This episode originally aired in a double-bill with "Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1" on September 4th.
*What appears to be part of the Ark can be seen in an outside shot of Autobot City, although the ship was destroyed much earlier in "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5".
*Apparently stores are perfectly happy to sell ninja stars to a little boy with no parental escort and accompanied only by an annoying orange alien. This was aired in the 80s, though.

A former instructor at Cybertron's top military academy, Scavenger sets the bar high. It was his (and Landmine's) strict training regimen for the now-legendary Autobot leader Optimus Prime that has pushed the Autobots to countless victories. Not easily impressed, Scavenger despises cockiness and values only true skill. Like Optimus Prime, he sees potential in the young Hot Shot. Hot Shot is hotheaded and cocksure, especially now that he wields the Star Saber sword. Scavenger sees this as a problem.
A million years ago, Smokescreen and Scavenger were guarding the entrance to Autobase: Cybertron when Hot Shot barged in, demanding to know where Optimus Prime was. Smokescreen informed him that Prime was in the satellite room and asked if anything was wrong. All Hot Shot would say was that wrong doesn't begin to describe the situation. Dreamwave Armada issue 1 What had transpired was that a group of renegade cybertronians calling themselves "Decepticons" were attacking Mini-Con villages and capturing the inhabitants for some reason. While sifting through the rubble of of Village C-52, Scavenger opined that it looks like the diminutive Mini-Cons tried to put up a fight, but didn't stand a chance. Soon afterwards, Megatron, the Decepticon leader, attacked Cyber City, with his captured Mini-Cons re-engineered to powerlink with bulks, providing them great power. The Autobots were beaten up and forced to retreat. Dreamwave Armada issue 2

For a million years the civil war raged on, the once-proud Autobots struggled to defend themselves against the powerful, Mini-Con augmented Decepticons, who were in possession of Cybertron's only remaining Mini-Cons, the others having escaped at the beginning of the conflict. Hope came in the form of a Mini-Con Reactivation Signal sent from a distant world called Earth and the Autobots resolved to go there and fight for Truth, Justice and Freedom. Almost immediately after arriving on Earth, Smokescreen was destroying public property and suggesting that they simply smash their way across the planet to find the Mini-Cons, a plan that Scavenger agreed to, as Cybertron was their priority. This callous attitude earned them both a sharp, furious rebuke from Optimus Prime, who refused to stoop down to the level of the Decepticons. However, he also understood their frustration, telling them to save their anger for the Decepticons. Scavenger apologised for being out of line, suggesting that his logic chip was damaged. Unfortunately for the Autobots, the Decepticons had already arrived and were chasing after Sparkplug's group of Mini-Cons and their human friends, Rad, Carlos and Alexis. Prime and Scavenger arrived just in time to smash Starscream and Cyclonus out of the sky. Dreamwave Armada issue 4 While Optimus Prime kept Megatron distracted by trash talking the Decepticon's failure to defeat the Autobots with all of their power, Smokescreen snuck up and demolished the cliff face Megatron was perched upon with his head. Scavenger noted that at least Smokescreen didn't injure anything important. Eventually Megatron powerlinked with all of his Mini-Cons and gained the upper hand, but help came in the form of Jolt's group of Mini-Cons, who powerlinked with the Autobots. Rollbar linked with Scavenger, giving him extra punching power. At a tactical disadvantage, the Decepticons were forced to flee. Dreamwave Armada issue 5 Scavenger, despite being a bulldozer, swerved out of the way of the approaching tank-mode Demolishor and fell down a hill. Scavenger was hired by Megatron for his skills as a mercenary and a bounty hunter for Mini-Cons, due to the troubles Megatron was having with the troops under his command. Scavenger claimed that at first he did not know whether to accept the contract or not, until he saw the sorry state of the Decepticons after their defeat at the hands of Hot Shot and the Star Saber. His mocking lack of respect or fear for Megatron intimidated the other Decepticons, as well as earning Starscream's hatred.

His first appearance on Earth was during an observation of a battle between Starscream and Hot Shot. Noting that Hot Shot only won because the Star Saber sensed its wielder's inexperience, Scavenger challenged the younger Autobot and soundly beat him, despite suffering a serious wound. Overmatch

Later, it was revealed that Scavenger was in fact an Autobot spy working on the behalf of Optimus Prime. After locating Rollbar, he set his goal on misleading the Decepticons. It is unclear how long Scavenger posed as a Decepticon, but Megatron takes note of his "legacy" in deciding to trust him.

Scavenger performed his spy duties so well, that he surprised most of the Autobots when he turned over an important member of the Skyboom shield to Megatron. Scavenger continued to serve Megatron until abruptly turning on the Decepticons and aiding Optimus Prime. Scavenger revealed his past with Prime as a teacher and fellow soldier before taking Hot Shot under his wing. Scavenger believes in hard work, but is also prone to bouts of laziness.
: Scavenger transforms into a large green front-end loader featuring functional rubber treads. Rollbar (in robot mode) can be placed inside the driver's cabin, and pressing down on the Mini-Con activates engine start up and revving sounds.
: In robot mode, Scavenger has no "useful" leg articulation whatsoever. His legs are halves of the shovel blade clipped onto the purple drum wheel. Pushing Scavenger forward in robot mode rotates the wheel, moving the leg-facades up and down in a simulation of walking. Each step is accompanying by a stomp sound effect. Powerlinxing a Mini-Con to the active Powerlinx port on his hip then pulling it back fires a purple projectile, as well as activating a laser firing sound.
:Scavenger is an Autobot in the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
