Override

:Override is a Velocitron Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Override is the best racer on Velocitron, and as such is the leader of the planet. She seemingly embodies the culture itself; she is quick-witted, decisive, self-sure and always looking for a challenge. This has its upsides and downsides: while she's brave and determined with a never-give-up attitude, she can also be cocky to the point of arrogant, if not selfish and shortsighted. She entered the great race for leadership by lying about her gender and posing as a male, and has been defending her title and proving herself more than a match for anyone since.

After contact with the Autobots from Cybertron, particularly Hot Shot and Optimus Prime, she has matured into a more careful, more compassionate robot, less focused on being the best racer and more focused on being the best leader for her people... though she still maintains her never-lose attitude and love of high-speed challenges.

She has developed a close bond with the human girl Lori, referring to her as "Little Sister", which Lori reciprocates by calling Override "Big Sister".
Override led the crew of the Star Arrow, which was carrying an experimental Force Chip. The Star Arrow was attacked above Sandokan and crashed on the surface. The crew encountered Synthos, a scrap-monster powered by the Dark Heart. Override and the other Autobots fled from the monster and hid until Astrotrain attacked. When Astrotrain captured the Force Chip and headed towards Synthos, Override followed. She sought to prevent Synthos' Dark Heart from falling into Decpticon hands, but also desired to save the sentient scrap monster. The Autobots captured the Decepticon shuttle that carried Cannonball into battle and used it to capture him, Astrotrain, and the other Decepticons. After depositing them on the other side of the continent, the Autobots fled to Cybertron with the recaptured Force Chip. The Dark Heart of Sandokan
**Accessories: Engine-blaster, Speed Planet Cyber Planet Key

: Part of the Speed Planet theme, Override transforms into a sleek futuristic race car. Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the rear portion of her car mode causes two non-firing blasters to flip out into attack position; this assembly becomes a hand-weapon for robot mode, and can also store on her back. Override's transformation is partially spring-loaded; pressing her black "front bumper" automatically flips her torso and arms into position, requiring only her lower body and backpack to be manually configured. She came with a gold-bordered Velocitron-style Cyber Planet Key.

: There are a few small deco changes between the Hasbro and Takara versions of the toy; Takara's has a gold face and no faction sigil, while Hasbro's has an orange face, Autobot faction sigil, and gives her Key the Key code "dy7p".

: This version of Override also was available in two different store-exclusive multi-packs. The first was a Wal-Mart set, including the Cybertron-series Tiny Tin version of the Race Mini-Con Team member Mirage. The second was a Target-exclusive "Drag Race" (...yeah, there's a joke there) set with Hot Shot.

: This mold was used to make the evil clone Dark Nitro Convoy.

: Override's first toy was redecoed into a non-show coloration, replacing her white for a light gray, and gaining more black in her scheme. She still came with a gold -bordered Velocitron Cyber Planet Key, though this one has the Key code "dj9n".

: Early solicitations for this toy used the name "Double Clutch", suggesting that at one time, it might have been under consideration as being a new character. However, the first true Hasbro announcement of the toy at 2005 was that it was Override again.

: This toy was repurposed into "Shattered Glass" Elita-One.
Notes
*In Japan, Override is the male Nitro Convoy. It was originally intended that she would be male in the Hasbro version of Cybertron, but Cartoon Network, the channel with the airing rights to the show, felt it needed more female presence in the main cast, and Override was chosen to change genders.

* Override's robot-mode CGI model appears in the viewscreen of the Hasbro version of the Real Gear Robots toy Zoom Out 25X.

* Override's alternate mode of a futuristic race car, as well as its red and white color scheme, evokes the Mach 5 from the Speed Racer series.

* In Cybertron, Lori and Override refer to each other affectionately as "big sister"/"little sister". Being male, Galaxy Force Nitro Convoy's relationship with Lori is slightly different; he refers to Lori as what essentially translates to "little miss".

* In the Hungarian dub, Override is both male and female. Don't think about that too hard.
* During the publicity in the lead up to the release of Revenge of the Fallen and articles thereafter, there has been a war of words between Fox and Transformers director Michael Bay. Fox has commented negatively on the Transformers sequel, claiming that it was "not a movie about acting" and she spends most of the time "running or screaming, or both"; furthermore, that she "still didn't know what was happening" in the film despite appearing in it and having read the script, and anyone who understood the movie had to be a "genius".
* In the Revenge of the Fallen game, Mikaela only appears briefly in the game itself, with only a page's worth of dialogue. Despite her small part in the game, Fox was nominated for the "Best Performance by a Human Female" award in the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Awards. In reality, the nomination was not based on voice work, but merely to have some stars in attendance. After all, it is the nerds - er, video game channel.

*It has been suggested that the persona Megan Fox hints at in interviews is a construct, and the real Megan Fox is mostly boring. She keeps a low public profile, doesn't attend parties, has never been in a scandal and has been dating the same guy for five years, without so much as a rumor of an affair. So essentially, all her interviews are conscious attempts at creating a fake media persona that is a lot more interesting than the real person Megan Fox. <small>Sorry, guys.</small>

Toy swapping, in the context of toy collecting, refers to a heinous practice (some might consider it outright theft, because it is) that involves buying a new toy, opening the packaging, replacing the content with another toy (or something else entirely), then returning the packaging with the replaced content to the store and claiming the money back. In essence, this means getting a new toy for free while leaving the store with an older toy (or complete junk) that will most likely never sell. The practice of toy swapping is not limited to the Transformers toylines, but is considered an easy way of getting new toys for "free" by fans from all kinds of different toylines. Obviously, this situation is anything but desirable.

Reasoning
Aside from people who simply find this an easy way to get a new toy without actually paying for it, some fans think they can get away with swapping out older toys in favor of "better" redecos; for example, buying Energon Galvatron and then returning the packaging with the original Megatron version of the mold. Those people usually argue that "it's basically the same toy, only in different colors." Another common excuse is that "Kids won't notice the difference anyways, nor would they care."

In some instances (such as the recent "Premium Series" lineup of improved, more movie-accurate redecos of some of the toys from the 2007 live-action Movie toyline), some fans even claim that Hasbro "screwed them over" by not releasing the redecos in the first place, thereby arguing that they were just taking what they felt entitled to anyways, so they swap it out with a regular movie toy for the Premium toy, or just swap the parts.

Some people are obscenely self-entitled douchebags.

Problem caused by toy swapping
The main problem of toy swapping is simple: children. Fans and collectors usually know what the toy they're looking for is supposed to look like, so they most likely won't pick up a swapped toy, unless they're not paying attention for whatever reason. Therefore, the most likely victims of this practice are parents who buy a toy for their kid. Imagine the look on a child's face when he gets Movie Leader Class Optimus Prime for his birthday, opens the packaging and finds an old, beat-up Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime inside.

And no, this is not funny. Really not.

Notable examples
Most collectors have come across one or more examples of toy swapping at one point or another. A few more egregious examples include the Alternators Dead End box containing a non-transforming black Dodge Viper convertible model car, sold on eBay as a "rare factory error variant" of Alternators Side Swipe, as well as a Universe Razorclaw in an Animated Bulkhead box and a Universe Smokescreen in an Animated Voyager Class Starscream box at the same store.

Toy swapping in other countries
Interestingly enough, the only large-scale reports of such occurrences hail from North America (i.e. USA and Canada), with overtly liberal store policies allowing people to return opened products to stores and claiming their money back usually being blamed. Also, stores like Wal-Mart are often accused of not paying their employees enough to care for checking if they're being deceived, as is their policy of always giving customers the benefit of the doubt, especially when the product's packaging includes a note saying "details and color may vary".

Meanwhile, reports from Australia, Asia or Europe, where stores either don't allow returning opened products, or if they do, usually give them a closer examination, are much scarcer, or even pretty much nonexistent.
At an (Autobot-sponsored?) peace conference between the warring planets of Xetaxxis and Lanarq, Melkorr - in person - narrated a video clip depicting the history of violence between the two worlds. Afterwards, he emphasized that both civilizations would go extinct "within one generation" unless the peace negotiations were successful.
Trivia
* Although Melkorr's name was mentioned in dialogue, the dialogue script for The Quintesson Journal refers to the person giving his lines as "moderator" - which is strange, so far as Rodimus Prime and Spike Witwicky appeared to be jointly moderating the talks and Melkorr doesn't appear again.
* Melkorr's status as an alien is uncertain. He may be a cybernetic human, but his name suggests an alien origin.
* Melkorr shares a name with Melkor, the equivalent of Satan in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth stories.
the ill-destined wasp robot from Transformers Animated

:Wasp is an Autobot from the Transformers Animated continuity family. After a freak mutation, he took the name Waspinator.

Wasp is a lot like Bumblebee...physically, at least. Built from the same chassis and sharing many of the same specifications and subroutines, the two Autobots attended boot camp together. Wasp's pompous, smarmy personality leaves something to be desired, but he had a lot going for him as a soldier, being highly skilled in the use of his stingers and knowing just how to toe the line with the drill sergeant. In a better life, he might have been Cybertron Elite Guard commander material.

Might have.

These days, though, Wasp is a broken bot, mentally unstable and on the run from the Autobots who have branded him a traitor. What little remains of his mind is focused on just one goal...destroying Bumblebee, the bot who ruined his life!

Fiction
Animated cartoon
:Voice actor: Tom Kenny (English), Jaron Löwenberg (German)
ongoing
Wasp was a cadet in the same group as Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ironhide and Longarm. Right away, Wasp took a dislike to Bumblebee, insulting him out of the blue as the yellow bot mused to himself about his future in the Elite Guard. He also dubbed Bulkhead a "mudflap", much to the amusement of his fellow cadets. The loud-mouthed drill sergeant Sentinel Minor took an immediate liking to "Wasp", as he dubbed him. Wasp and Ironhide quickly became close friends, often competing in little tests of strength, usually involving Wasp hitting or stinging Ironhide while the latter was in armor mode.

After Bumblebee "bumbled" several times, leading to many transform-ups for the whole group, Wasp and Ironhide decided to take matters into their own hands, unscrewing Bumblebee's lower legs and leaving them out of reach even before they dumped the rest of him in a locker.

Unbeknownst to Wasp, however, the reason for Bumblebee's foul-ups was that he was trying to out a traitor in the group—and had pegged Wasp as the likely culprit after seeing him walk out of a hangar in which someone had contacted Megatron. (Plus, let's face it, he was a complete jerk. And Decepticons are jerks, right?) At Longarm's prompting, Bumblebee eventually found evidence incriminating Wasp as a spy. Wasp was stripped of his Autobot insignia and wheeled away, protesting his innocence and swearing revenge on Bumblebee.

Many years later, Wasp escaped from Autobot custody and apparently eluded the now-Sentinel Prime by jumping through a space bridge. What was left of Wasp hid beneath the bridge as Sentinel left, buzzing and twittering to himself, still swearing revenge on "Bumblebot". In reality, however, the innocent bot—broken mentally by his years of imprisonment—had been set up with evidence planted by "Longarm", who had also arranged Wasp's "escape" to divert suspicion from himself. Autoboot Camp

Needless to say, when the truth was revealed to Bumblebee by his old "friend", Longarm Prime (aka the Decepticon Shockwave), he took it pretty hard. A Bridge Too Close, Part II

Where Is Thy Sting?

Wasp headed straight for the Autobots' base on Earth, with Sentinel Prime and Jazz in pursuit. Waiting until Bumblebee was left alone on monitor duty (and actually playing Ninja Gladiator instead), he struck during a power outage, knocking Bumbleebee cold and switching color schemes, helmets and even voices with his rival. When Bumblebee came to, the others had returned and had him prisoner, with the disguised Wasp at their side. Despite Bumblebee's muffled cries, the Autobots fell for Wasp's ruse, forcing Bumblebee to flee into the night. Wasp stayed behind as the others tracked Bumblebee down, allowing him to try beating Bumblebee's video game and to search through Bumblebee's personal files.

When the others returned, joined by Sentinel, Jazz, Jetfire and Jetstorm, Wasp was able to recount several of Bumblebee's adventures which were logged in his files to keep the Autobots confused as to which bot was which. Unfortunately for Wasp, Bulkhead proposed the two battle against each other in in Ninja Gladiator, so that Bumblebee's video game skills would be readily apparent and the traitor revealed. Before their video game could begin, Wasp panicked and attacked Bumblebee, holding him hostage so he could make his escape. Wasp left Bumblebee with one final indignity, turning off the electronic paintjob he'd installed in Bee and stealing his helmet back...tricking Bulkhead into pummeling the real Bumblebee while Wasp fled. Where Is Thy Sting?

Toy bio
Blackarachnia experimented on Waspinator giving him a new form, which he hopes will help him take vengeance on Bumblebee.

Toys
Transformers Animated
*Waspinator (Deluxe class, 2009)

:Despite his cartoon origins, Waspinator is not a redeco or retooling of Bumblebee. Part of the sixth wave of Animated Deluxe-class toys, Waspinator transforms from a techno-organic wasp into a techno-organic, four-armed, winged robot that resembles his Beast Wars namesake, only far freakier-looking. In both modes, a lever on the thorax flaps his wings back and forth.

Notes
*A wasp and a bee, sharing the same mold? How preposterous!

*Wasp's time in prison seems to have shattered his mind and transformed him into a character akin to Waspinator of Beast Wars fame. Both of these bots have mishap sprung upon them, but this character's misfortune is in a more serious vein than slapstick violence. The role of whipping boy is another's.

*The small, vestigial arms present on the Deluxe Waspinator toy's robot mode torso have their origin in an early design concept for Lockdown; the bounty hunter robot's character model was subsequently altered to make his appearance less monstrous, but Derrick Wyatt loved the concept of the vestigial arms enough to incorporate them instead into Waspinator's design.

*The Deluxe Waspinator toy's packaging states that he is able to survive being blown to pieces, which harks back to the original's propensity for continually getting blasted to bits and yet surviving and coming back seemingly unscathed each time.
* On March 4, 2009, Hugo Weaving revealed he would be returning as Megatron in Revenge of the Fallen and in fact had already recorded his dialogue. One can assume that the director was trying to salvage some form of audience surprise in seeing Megatron return in the movie. * In an interview with Sci Fi Wire on March 31st, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman said they had looked through the comics and cartoons for the "most elemental bad guy" that "jumped off the material" and found that in the Fallen. They also stated that due to production necessities (Hasbro and Bay needing characters for scenes and design to begin as soon as possible) and the 2008-2009 Writers Strike, some characters were in their initial treatment while others were designed specifically for the movie productiont, and that due to the overall numbers of robots, the audience would not get to know all of the Transformers closely. Indeed, Orci and Kurtzman referred to some characters via descriptors such "Volt" (Jolt) and "Wheelbot" (Demolishor). They also confirmed that Nimoy was open to playing the Fallen if the role was offered, and that they were in the middle of hashing it out with Frank Welker over a role in the movie, but the final decision was down to Bay.
The Beastformers toy line, developed jointly by Hasbro and Takara in 1986, was released as part of the Japanese Headmasters series (in 1987) and even made appearances within the series' cartoon and manga.
The American/European version of the line, called Battle Beasts was, until recently, fictionally unconnected to Transformers.
The Autobots came into contact with two refugee Beastformers who were seeking help. They said that their world, planet Beest, was a happy and peaceful one ruled by a just hereditary monarchy of lions (what else?) until the Decepticons invaded and helped the enemy forces of Alligatoron take control. To all appearances, this tragedy changed their society from a girls' toy brand to a boys' toy brand. The Autobots traveled to Beest inside of Fortress Maximus and helped the good Beastformers free planet Beest from Decepticon tyranny. Rodimus Prime left the Monsterbots behind to protect the planet from any future Decepticon incursions.

After Scorponok blew up Cybertron and Rodimus Prime departed to find a new homeworld, the Monsterbots rejoined the Autobot forces under Fortress Maximus. This led to further suffering for the Beastformers as the Decepticons invaded again (see below) and Scorponok took many of them to the planet Zarak as slaves to build him a giant transtector. Smooth move, Monsterbots. Rebellion on Planet Beest
Once again, the Decepticons teamed up with Alligatoron to take over planet Beest. ===Laser Beasts manga===
Tens of thousands of years ago, the Three Wise Men (later to be known as the God Beasts) crash-landed on planet Beest and quickly discovered that they could not survive due to the planet's incredible temperature, lack of water and virtually no breathable atmosphere. Immediately, they located a cave and chose to live underground where they could survive somehow. Using their incredible knowledge, they created three machines capable of unfathomable destruction which they dubbed "Hunters". They used the Hunters to build a vast subterranean empire, but fearing the destructive power of the Hunters, had all three units separated and hidden across the globe. Later, they developed a new kind of lifeform, the Laser Beast. Using a lens located in its chest, the Laser Beast could absorb artificial solar energy and power itself.

20014 years later, the underground civilization of the Laser Beasts eventually succumbed to over-mechanization, destroying their own environment and causing a rift between the once-peaceful citizens. A group of Laser Beasts, fearing the new hostilities, chose to leave the subterranean empire and journey to the surface for the first time ever. Surviving the journey, the Laser Beasts found the surface of Beest to have changed drastically since when the Three Wise Men founded their civilization, as it was now a jungle brimming with life. Almost immediately after their arrival, a great natural disaster flooded the subterranean empire of the Laser Beasts, destroying their city. The surviving Laser Beasts then chose to travel to the surface of Beest, albeit reluctantly.

Unknown to the Laser Beasts, the surface of Beest was already inhabited: by the Beastformers! The Laser Beasts and the Beastformers then clashed in a massive battle, deciding which Beast lifeform would rule the surface of Planet Beest!
In order to keep the planet-devouring chaos god Unicron from munching Earth, Flint and Cosmos traveled within the giant's body in order to deliver a devastating payload of metal-eating fungus to his brain. Flint and Cosmos were stalled by Unicron's antibodies, in the form of mind-controlled Beastformers. Flint and Cosmos fought past the Beastformers and defeated Unicron with the fungus. Whether this freed the enslaved Beastformers or not remains unclear. However, Joe Colton is charged with leading a mission to Unicron's dead body in order to bring assistance to its residents (presumably the Beastformers). Black Horizon issue 2

The Battle Beasts did get some outside fiction in the U.S., in the form of a short-lived (four issues) Blackthorne black-and-white comic book. Good luck finding it.

The comic is set on an unnamed planet inhabited by sentient, armored animals, each imbued with the power of one of the three elements: water, fire, and wood. Their powers and the health of their world are maintained by the Soulspirit, a ghostly figure that--strangely for a planet of talking animals--appears to be human. By keeping her animal charges and their nature totems in harmony, the Soulspirit helps maintain a balance that prevents the return of her ancient enemy--Ruhin, the sludgy lord of chaos. An evil plot by the totem-switching, mind-controlling, rather Beast Wars Megatron-ish Chameleon, and his minions Blitzkrieg Bat, Rampaging Rhino, and Cutthroat Cuttlefish, disrupts the Soulspirit's planetary totem renewal ritual: the subsequent psychic totem disruption drives every creature on the planet insane and makes them start viciously attacking each other. The only beasts spared from this madness are Chameleon's forces and a small group of heroes (Horny Toad, Knight Owl, and Gargantuan Gorilla) who had already tried and failed to stop him. With their world now plunged into madness and nonstop war, the heroic faction must journey to find the one being on the planet--the near-mythical Sunburst Warrior--who can restore the harmony and sanity of the Battle Beasts. But they must hurry, because the disruption of the balance of nature has also revived the evil Ruhin!

Battle Beasts/Beastformers are soft plastic figures of anthropomorphic animals in high-tech armor, each about 1.5 inches tall, with swivel-jointed shoulders and a unique weapon accessory. Their primary gimmick is the use of rubsigns. In the initial Takara releases, they came in Transformers-style boxes.

Their rubsigns were used to play a variation of "Rock-Paper-Scissors". Each Beast could have one of three "elements" revealed by the rubsign: Wood, Fire or Water. Wood beats Water, Water beats Fire, and Fire beats Wood. A rare fourth element, Sunburst ("Burstsun" in Japan), could beat any other, though this symbol was introduced late in the line. Since the symbols were heat-activated, it was impossible to determine what each toys' symbol was until the toys were freed from their packaging. (Reportedly, only White Leo was available as a "Burstsun" warrior in Japan.) The Hasbro line packaged them as two-packs with randomized pairings, while the Takara series had individual boxes with bio cards.

Series 1 (1987)
Packaged in Transformers-style boxes, the initial Beastformers were divided between the Autobot and Decepticon factions on the basis of whether their species was an endothermic vertebrate (mammal or bird) or... well, anything else. The one exception was the Decepticon Devilbat.
At this point, Beastformers boxes ceased to use the Autobot and Decepticon symbols and faction-coded red and purple backgrounds. They were still divided between Autobot and Decepticon factions, with appropriate faction insignia on the bio cards included in their boxes. The Autobot Beastformers were still exclusively mammals and birds, while the Decepticon Beastformers welcomed owls and a variety of mammals into their ranks. And these are supposed to be the villains.
Series 3 (1987)
With the third wave release, the rubsigns were reworked so they featured full-color illustrations, rather than the black-on-mood-ring-colors of the old signs. All Series 1 Beastformers were repackaged to fit with the new Beastformers brand and given the updated rubsigns. The Series 2 Beastformers were also rereleased with the updated rubsigns in Series 3 boxes. Numerous multi-packs --with exclusive variations-- were released in Japan as well.

Vehicles were also introduced to the line, motorized "Battle Chariots" and transforming "Battle Bases" that unfolded into large playsets.
Laser Beasts (1988)
An evolution of the gimmick was planned for both sides of the world, replacing the rubsigns with clear marbles that would reveal their element when looked through into a light source. The US/Europe version of these toys, dubbed the Battle Beasts Shadow Warriors, never made it to a wide release, though packaged samples of the toys have been uncovered. In Japan, the entire range made it to retail, under the name Laser Beasts, likely named as such due to the combination of their light-based gimmick, and that the melee weapons of old were replaced with blaster-rifles. However, the Laser Beasts came out after the Beastformers had removed all their ties to Transformers (and, as such, will not be covered extensively on this wiki).
The Griffith Observatory is a big and fancy-looking, well, observatory (who'd have guessed?) presumably located in Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America (see trivia). Occasionally, it serves as a place for well-intentioned alien robots to regroup and plan their next moves.
Bumblebee drove Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes to the site of this closed observatory to watch the arrival of the Autobot protoforms. ==Trivia==
* In the real world, Griffith Observatory is located within the city limits of Los Angeles, California. There's nothing that would explicitly contradict the possibility of it also being located there in the movie, although that would make it rather doubtful that Sam Witwicky's home town of Tranquility is located in the state of Nevada, as claimed by various movie-related media (but not the movie itself).
* Initially, the owners of Griffith Observatory were reluctant to allow the crew of Transformers to film there, as it was undergoing a major renovation at the time. However, they relented, as Susan Bay, a relative of director Michael Bay, and her husband, Leonard Nimoy, made substantial contributions to the funding of Griffith.

A ward of the Elite Guard and a Special Ops man, Afterburn is a highly skilled and highly confident soldier with a sleek off-road car form. A born leader, a quick thinker, a nice guy and capable of laying the smackdown with his agility and fireblasts, he's got a PhD in Being Handsome And Wonderful.

Fiction
Titan Magazines
At the Academy, he was nicknamed "Squeak-Clean Afterburn" (no, really) because he is so fantastic he is always clean and shiny. He came top in his class in Anti-Virus Diagnosis and Nano-Virus class. Animated Comic issue 2 He went on to join the Elite Guard and was eventually dispatched to Earth by Ultra Magnus to join Optimus Prime's team; Magnus intended for Afterburn to learn skills and knowledge from them, so that their successes could be replicated on other worlds.

He arrived in the middle of a battle between the Autobots and fashion disaster Quake-Maker. He saved Optimus, won Sari's heart and Bumblebee's admiration, quickly took control of the Autobots, and just as quickly worked out and exploited Quake-Maker's weakness. Because he rules. (Optimus got ignored on the sidelines and got a rock in the face)

Everyone loved him and everyone in the Autobase is now his best bud! Animated Comic issue 1

He was part of a mission to Dinobot Island when Snarl and Swoop went berserk, due to his virus knowledge. He effortlessly took control of the mission and came up with the strategy that won the day; he identified the Rage virus and how to neutralise it; and he even put up with Ratchet faking his death without being annoyed! What an awesome dude! (Bumblebee got made to look bad and was deliberately put down several times, and had big sad puppy-dog eyes) Animated Comic issue 2

Later, he attended a basketball game with Bulkhead, Prowl and Sari, until he picked up a police alert of major traffic chaos - leading to a battle with the villain Crossroads, who had taken control of Detroit's robots! Rather kindly, Afterburn let Prowl save the day while he relaxed by providing covering fire. Afterwards, he leaned on a wall and smirked slightly while warning everyone that Decepticons were cunning and could strike at any time. What a nice guy he is to remind us of this, and it totally didn't look dodgy! Animated Comic issue 3

Notes
* Originally, Afterburn was going to be Animated Sideswipe. However, when Titan released a preview image of the character, the online response to this Iron-Man-crossed-with-a-duck-monster-thing was so overwhelmingly negative that the preview was soon pulled and when the comic was released two weeks later, Sideswipe had ever-so-conspicuously become "Afterburn".

* Afterburn's Autobrand can either broadcast holographically recorded messages or holographically display long-range communications; it's not clear which he's doing at the end of #1.

* He was in "Special Ops" work, so that's why no one's ever heard of him. Including Derrick Wyatt.<ref>[https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=21975298&amp;postID=1347621366776933520 Derrick Wyatt blog response - "I wasn't involved at all.
