Hailing from East [[Germany]], '''Buster''' was a deejay before he and his older brother, [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] were recruited by the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. He is an enigmatic sort who does not really have much of a personality of his own, instead serving as a (vaguely creepy) extension of his brother's whim, following his lead in combat and turning to him for direction in all things. While Buster is not nearly as cruel and detached as the sociopathic Hydra, he remains a fearsome fighter of great power.

As a [[Godmaster]], Buster is bonded to a [[Transtector]] from the [[G Nebula 89|G Nebula]], which he can combine with his brother’s Transtector to form the giant jet [[Darkwings]]. Like all Godmasters, Buster can manipulate [[Chōkon Power]], with his specialty being the control of wind. Additionally, Buster possesses an affinity for birds, owning some and even being able to convey his thoughts to them.

Buster and Hydra were in North America when they were approached by [[Giga]] and [[Mega]], agents of the Decepticon leader [[Devil Z]], and bonded to a pair of Transtectors that had taken the forms of jet planes. {{storylink|A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai}} The brothers were brought to a hidden island, where they were trained in the use of their new Godmaster powers until it was decided that they join up with the rest of the Decepticons already operating under the command of [[Blood]]. Blood's [[Pretender]]s and [[Headmaster Junior]]s were summoned to the island, where Buster and Hydra, disguised in suits of medieval armor, promptly attacked and bested them as a demonstration of their powers. Blood bristled at the notion that two humans could be stronger than true Decepticons, and challenged the two Godmasters to prove themselves by attacking the [[Mt Fuji Foothills Hang Gliding Competition Tournament]]. It just so happened that the [[Autobot]] Headmaster Juniors were participating in the contest, leading to a battle between the Godmaster brothers and the Autobot Pretenders. When Mega and Giga revealed that there were other Godmaster on Earth, Buster and Hydra were charged with locating them before the Autobots did. Hydra decided that they would search North America first, on the basis that it was where they became Godmasters themselves, and with a little help from the Headmaster Juniors, the brothers were soon on the trail of a mysterious truck that had been rumoured to be able to heal any damage to itself. The brothers found the truck crashed at the bottom of a cliff along with the Autobot Diver, but when they attempted to take it, the truck's driver, [[Ginrai]], revealed that he was indeed a Godmaster, and that that truck was his Transtector, by transforming to robot mode for the first time. Hungry for revenge, Buster and Hydra were not content simply with destroying Ginrai, but also sought to discredit him and the Autobots into the bargain. Luring Ginrai into a battle in a city, the brothers loudly blamed him for starting the battle so that the population could overhear, and then summoned some [[Lobclaw]] [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacons]] to finish the Autobot off. Luckily, Diver and [[Lander]] arrived to deal with the Seacons, and the enraged Ginrai unleashed a blast of Chōkon Power that saw the villains off. {{storylink|Eliminate the Godmaster Ginrai}}

Learning that Ginrai had appeared on a television show in an attempt to find the remaining Godmasters on Earth, Buster and Hydra tried menacing a producer at the TV station in order to find out what Ginrai had learned from the correspondence that had come in. The tactic had no luck, so they resorted to searching the continent with the help of the Pretenders; the Pretenders later found Ginrai in [[Canada]], but were unable to stop the next Godmaster, [[Lightfoot]] from joining the Autobots. {{storylink|Lightfoot: A Dramatic Encounter}} After this failure, the Decepticons were even more determined to recruit the next Godmaster, a Canadian forest patrolman named [[Ranger]]. Buster and Hydra stepped back from the front lines for a short time, instead trying their hand at formulating a plan for the Pretenders to carry out. This outlandish plot to capture doctors was soon botched, much to their distaste, {{storylink|Save the Little Girl! The Chōjin Warriors, the Godmasters}} and they again took an active hand in matters, starting with a scheme to divide and conquer the Autobot Godmasters, starting with Lightfoot. Hydra put his makeup talents to use disguising himself and Buster as reporters so that they could get close to Lightfoot's father [[Leftfoot]] and take him prisoner. The brothers sent a message to Lightfoot, who was faced with the choice of either joining the Autobots or having his [[Master-Brace|Master-Braces]] (and hands!) cut off, but luckily, the other Autobot Godmasters soon arrived to help give the Darkwings Brothers one of their most severe beatings yet. By posing as a movie producer, Hydra was able to lure Ginrai into a desert under auspices of performing some stunt-driving, while Buster planted the explosive charges that would be used in the stunt. A hidden, extra charge separated Ginrai from his trailer, and the brothers combined into Darkwings in an attempt to destroy the latter component. Before they could strike, Ginrai merged with his trailer and blew the villains out of the air with his Special Fire Guts attack. Ginrai was, however, subsequently badly wounded by Giga and Mega's combined form, [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]], {{storylink|Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!?}} and the brothers decided to strike while the Autobots were a man down by attempting to destroy the [[Godbomber]] drone the heroes were in the midst of constructing. In the next attempt to destroy Godbomber, Buster and Hydra attacked a Middle-East oil refinery in order to draw the Autobots out, only to be met with failure once more. {{storylink|Overlord - Terror of the Chōkon Tornado}} The Decepticons tried yet again, this time by separating Godbomber from Ginrai and having Buster and Hydra target the unprotected drone. With a little help from [[Sixknight]], however, the Autobot Headmaster Juniors discovered that they were able to pilot Godbomber and personally took out Buster. {{storylink|Destroy Godbomber!!}}

When the final Godmaster, [[Clouder]], joined the Decepticons, the villains installed him within the Autobot ranks as a spy, who fed them inside information on the Autobots' base. Buster and Hydra proceeded to attack a nearby city in order to occupy the attentions of Ginrai and the Godmasters while the rest of the Decepticons initiated an all-out attack on the Autobots' headquarters {{storylink|Secret Orders! Soon thereafter, when BlackZarak arrived on Earth, Buster and Hydra traveled into space with the rest of the Decepticons when the villain prepared to unleash the unholy [[Death Para-Machine|Death-Para Machine]] upon the [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Crisis! Frustrated by their numerous defeats at the hands of Ginrai, Buster demanded to know why they were unable to best their Autobot opponent. Hydra opined that he and Buster were weakened by their humanity, and the brothers petitioned Devil Z to use his powers to transform them into true robots. The evil being complied, fusing the brothers with their Transtectors and replacing their Jinchōkon Power—lost to them along with their humanity—with his own [[Devil Power]]. The Darkwings Brothers attacked Ginrai in the Grand Canyon, and Ginrai, appalled at what they had done to themselves, called upon his God Fire Guts attack. The brothers responded by diving at Ginrai in a flaming "Hellfire Attack", resulting in a huge explosion when the attacks collided. The battered brothers limped away from the battle, declaring it a draw. {{storylink|Battle to the Death!! God Ginrai VS Darkwings Reborn}} While Ginrai then went on to battle Overlord, Buster and Hydra attacked Lightfoot and Road King, trapping them in a cave. During the final conflict on the Matterhorn, Buster and Hydra unveiled the mightiest weapon in their arsenal, the "Mach X Flight", allowing them to move faster than the eye could follow. They did not predict, however, that Ginrai could replicate the effect with his own Chōkon Power, and the Autobot once again proved to be their better, searing their bodies with his burning backwash and sending them crashing into the mountain. The brothers rejoined the other Decepticons at the mountain's peak, where BlackZarak unleashed his fury on the two failures, pummelling them until Overlord stepped in to try and stop the punishment. This only resulted in BlackZarak turning on him as well, at which point Ginrai arrived to save his foes and engage BlackZarak in final battle. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} As the Autobot leader battled BlackZarak, Buster and Hydra recovered from their beating, with Hydra calmly writing it off as proof that they were weak, and that they needed to fight even harder. Eventually, they could fight no further, and combined into Darkwings to flee. In the moments that followed, Ginrai succeeded in destroying BlackZarak and Devil Z, which resulted in all the other humans becoming separated from their Transtectors. During the battle with the Autobots that resulted in the Rocky Mountains, however, Hydra and Buster were left badly outnumbered and had to flee when the Headmaster Juniors abandoned them out of spite after they carelessly put Wilder in danger in their zeal to destroy Ginrai. {{storylink|An Enemy? Hydra and Buster stepped back from the front lines for a short time, instead trying their hand at formulating a plan for the Pretenders to carry out. The Chōjin Warriors, the Godmasters}} and they again took an active hand in matters, starting with a scheme to divide and conquer the Autobot Godmasters, starting with Lightfoot. Hydra put his makeup talents to use disguising himself and Buster as reporters so that they could get close to Lightfoot's father [[Leftfoot]] and take him prisoner. The brothers sent a message to Lightfoot, who was faced with the choice of either joining the Autobots or having his [[Master-Brace]]s (and hands!) cut off by Hydra, but luckily, the other Autobot Godmasters soon arrived to help give the Darkwings Brothers one of their most severe beatings yet. After serving as chauffeurs for Mega when she was posing as a fortune teller, {{storylink|Expose the Decepticons' Dark Trap!}} Hydra and Buster were next charged with destroying Ginrai's trailer. His acting talent again in full swing, Hydra posed as a movie producer named "Billy Hyler" and talked Ginrai into performing some stunt-driving for a movie filming in the desert. Buster was able to plant an explosive charge that separated Ginrai from his trailer, and the brothers combined into Darkwings in an attempt to destroy the latter component. Before they could strike, Ginrai merged with his trailer and blew the villains out of the air with his Special Fire Guts attack. Ginrai was, however, subsequently badly wounded by Giga and Mega's combined form, [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]], {{storylink|Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!?}} and the brothers decided to strike while the Autobots were a man down by attempting to destroy the [[Godbomber]] drone the heroes were in the midst of constructing. In the next attempt to destroy Godbomber, Hydra and Buster attacked a Middle-East oil refinery in order to draw the Autobots out. Even the cold, cruel Hydra was taken aback, however, when Giga asked if they were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, and later confided in Buster that while he was not afraid of dying in battle, he wasn't willing to sacrifice himself just for victory. Although this plan to destroy Godbomber met with failure, {{storylink|Overlord - Terror of the Chōkon Tornado}} the Decepticons tried yet again, this time by separating Godbomber from Ginrai and having Hydra and Buster target the unprotected drone. Megatron suggested [[Isaac Sumdac]] give Soundwave to [[Sari Sumdac|his daughter]] as a birthday present... this seemingly kind act, of course, had a sinister ulterior motive. Megatron knew Sari would use her [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]]-enhanced [[AllSpark Key|Key]] on Soundwave, which would allow him to upgrade... and ultimately become Megatron's new body. What Megatron didn't count on, though, was that the upgrades would actually make Soundwave self-aware and able to control other robots with sound. Additionally, Soundwave concluded that machines should be the masters of the world, and humans would be an ideal slave force. Megatron decided that if Soundwave couldn't be a new body, he would be a new soldier.

Megatron tried to convince Soundwave to join the Decepticons, take control of the machines in [[Detroit]], and steal the AllSpark Key. At first Soundwave refused, but then Megatron told Soundwave that the [[Autobot]]s lived to serve the humans. Once convinced, Soundwave promptly upgraded himself into a transforming body using controlled robots, and began his task. He started by taking over all the robots in [[Detroit]] and using [[Tutor Bot]] to kidnap Sari Sumdac. The revolution of the robots was, however, quickly opposed by the Autobots. When [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] came to rescue Sari, Soundwave blasted him with a sonic blast. Soundwave then appealed to Bulkhead to join the revolution because he did not want to hurt a fellow machine, reminding him how Bulkhead had been replaced by Soundwave himself. Bulkhead acted as if he was about to kill Sari... then used his wrecking ball to shatter Soundwave. The machines were restored to their normal operational status, and the day was saved.

Unknown to all others, however, Soundwave still functioned as a small piece even after Bulkhead pummeled him into scrap metal. {{storylink|Sound and Fury}}

A newly reassembled Soundwave was revealed to be in control of an army of Soundwave toys that have been marketed and sold by [[Porter C. Powell]] just in time for [[Christmas]]. One such toy was among the wrapped gifts at Autobot base. This toy freed himself from his packaging where he proceeded to poison the Autobots' [[oilnog]], which made the Autobots eager to take a [[stasis nap]]. Hoping to reprogram them into Decepticons, Soundwave plugged the sleeping Autobots into a virtual world where they were led to believe they had been turned into humans. However, [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] eventually deduced that they were in a virtual world, and managed—by force of will—to change their avatars into their Cybertronian forms. Soundwave decided that he had to accelerate the reprogramming. However, Sari Sumdac used her previously discovered Cybertronian abilities to try to interfere with his plans. Soundwave then turned his attention back to the Autobots, however, Prowl had freed himself using his "[[processor-over-matter]]" technique, but Soundwave quickly rectified this and returned the virtual Autobots into their human bodies. Exploiting their desire to escape from his trap, Soundwave entered the virtual world with an oddly-colored avatar and led them into a trap, where their reprogramming was completed.

After Sari Sumdac assembled a group of "[[Substitute Autobot|Substitute Autobots]]" to free her friends, Soundwave gained the element of surprise when he burst out from under the street and brought forth his newly reprogrammed Autobot minions. Soundwave held a significant tactical advantage over the inept group, but when the miserable technorganic changed tactics and focused on individual attacks, Soundwave found himself disoriented as he tried to control five minions at once. Soundwave was able to regain the upper hand when the substitute Autobots took out all but one of the reprogrammed Autobots: leaving him with full control over Optimus Prime. However, Prowl was able to break free of Soundwave's control using processor-over-matter and disabled Soundwave's control over his comrades. Soundwave then deployed Ratbat to deal with the meddling cyber-ninja and fought servo-to-servo with Optimus Prime, who then grabbed Laserbeak and forced him to transform back into guitar mode. :There *is* a Cybertronian language spoken by several characters (Frenzy most notably, I guess, plus Starscream, and actually 'every' Decepticon during the call-up scene) but nobody really knows if it's just jibberish with a flanger on or something. That, and Megs 'never' speaks Cybertronian in the movie, so this makes it even stranger. The idea behind the Cybertronians speaking a different language isn't Weaving's, however, because that was in the leaked script that came out long before Weaving was cast. Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no ice at the bottom of the ocean. Ice is less dense than water so any particles cold enough to freeze float above those who aren't cold enough. (Contrary to normal laws of convection; ice is weird like that) so Megatron and the Decepticons wouldn't be icy at all. Just really cold and crushed under immense water pressure.

Now, I'm terribly sorry I don't have more info than this, but I was at the mall w/ my GF and picked up a guide to ROTF. Most of the info seemed pretty modern and accurate (things like Jetfire being a seeker and such) and they said that upon his revival, Megatron had become a triple-changer, able to take both modes. I don't know the name of it although... nope, can't find it on Amazon. Can someone else comment on this matter? Has anything been shown to support this or has anyone else seen this guide? The article states that [[Revenge of the Fallen: The Movie Universe|The Movie Universe]] and [[Revenge of the Fallen Movie Adaptation|comic adaptation]] created the idea of Megatron being a triple changer. However, the [[Revenge of the Fallen (novel)|novelization]] mentions that he's a fighter jet several times, and that he takes his tank mode during the battle in Egypt. Additionally, the previsual shots shown on the special two-disc pack show Megatron chasing down Optimus Prime while in jet mode. Is it possible that Megatron really was meant to be a triple changer, and it was simply dropped from the final cut?
